unserious kpop album review that no one will probably ever read #4
hot off the press, it's le sserafim's easy !
good bones (4.5/10) - yeeeeeaaaahhhh. i mean, what were you expecting? tbf i'm not a big fan of intro songs in general because i rarely listen to albums on their own (i'm more of a playlist girlie), but the thing that kind of pisses me off about this intro song is that it could've been like, an actual song? it's long enough and sort of has a chorus...regardless i fuck heavy with the guitar (although it's a tad bit repetitive, like c'mon hybe spice that shit up) and the chanting in the chorus.
easy (7/10) - LETS GO RNB VIBES!!! this is maaaaaad catchy and i fuck so hard with ggs singing in their lower registers! also yunjin can step on me
swan song (6/10) - okay guys listen. this song is...just a little teeny tiny bit...boring. i'd fucking fall asleep to this song, but like, not in a good way. it's like the hallmark movie of kpop songs. or the most basic asmr video you could think of, like one where they just tap on shit. i kinda wanted more oomph from the chorus...imagine if it went as hard as red velvet's "in my dreams," like with the percussion coming in??? but alas, we can only DREAM (wow i am so fucking funny) to reach that level of slayage.
smart (7.5/10) - am i hallucinating or does this almost have some latin influences/vibes?? "antifragile" is objectively le sserafim's best song and every day we strive to get just a bit closer to its greatness...
we've got so much (7/10) - okay but the harmonies during the chorus??? EXCUSE ME??? i am fucking LEVITATING. you know that meme of the guy floating down the hallway??? yeah. mm-hmm. uh-huh. that's me rn. and the guitar in the bridge??? yeah. mm-hmm. that's right.

Ivo's done an article for iNews!! It should be in tomorrow's print/digital editions!
"I learnt the names and constituencies of all 650 MPs. I’ll never do it again" - Ivo Graham (iNews)
"As a champion procrastinator addicted to trivia and games, I loved it."
Where were you on the night of the last general election, 12 December 2019? Whether you were appalled or somehow delighted by the scale of that night’s landslide, it probably came as more of a surprise than its widely-forecasted reversal this time around.
And I was processing that surprise in the same way I have spent far too much of my adult life: isolating myself from those around me and preparing a quiz.
The ploughing of this frankly baffling furrow had begun in 2017, when, after three cheery but repetitive solo stand-up shows about Mario Kart, Nokia 3210s and the other mainstays of my emotionally repressed boarding school adolescence, I’d decided to launch myself into current affairs with, by the very loosest of definitions, a “political show”.
Of course, 2016 had provided various jumping-off points for this, but while Brexit and Trump had prompted many of my peers to interrogate the big issues more passionately than ever, I, a filibustering coward with an audience still largely made up of family friends, had decided to turn the whole thing into an actual exam. I miss exams! I found them very stressful at the time but I find actual adulthood much more so!
And so I began “work” on Educated Guess (not a bad title TBF), a show where I used my guilt about not knowing enough about politics as a very mealy-mouthed segue to its central “stunt”, that I’d learned all 650 MPs of the UK.
Or, as a popular meme format might have it:
No one:
No one:
No one:
Ivo: OK, so I’ve learned all 650 MPs of the UK.
As a champion procrastinator addicted to trivia and games, I loved learning the 650 MPs of the UK. Finally, an actual project for the long, doomscrolling trains and coaches home from gigs: uploading the full House of Commons onto the Quizlet revision app, and testing myself in every spare moment I could, preparing for the thrilling/baffling denouement of the show in Edinburgh that August, where audiences would be invited to shout out their home constituency and I would bellow back their MP as fast as I could.
This whole exercise, a frenetic mind palace of word-association shortcuts like “James Cleverly – Braintree”, was accurately assessed by multiple reviewers as “not technically comedy”, but my own pathetic adrenaline levels have rarely spiked as high as during those quizzes, or in the bar after the show, where the geographical heckles continued to come thick and fast.
“Glasgow East?”
“Paul Sweeney!”
“No, that’s Glasgow North East!”
“OK, sorry, thanks for coming!”
The “class of 2017” had had to be hastily revised that summer after Theresa May’s majestic squandering of her majority in June, and many of my exhaustively-revised new intake would not see out a full term either, when two and a half years later, in December 2019, 43.6 per cent of British voters shuffled, shivering, to the polls, to give the fridge-dwelling party king a fat mandate for his oven-ready deal.
I witnessed those results from a TV studio in west London, where my unique history of comedy-adjacent data regurgitation had seen me generously, if optimistically, invited to be part of Channel 4’s election coverage. I was set the challenge of learning all the new MPs, as they came in, in time for a heavily caffeinated quiz at 5am.
Unfortunately, the exit polls proved so atmosphere-inhalingly depressing in both the Channel 4 studio and green room that most of the comedy comms, including my own, were abandoned, replaced by extended round-table analysis such as Stanley Johnson riffing about pilots in burqas and Amber Rudd threatening to deport Nish Kumar.
What possible light relief could an Old Etonian comedian, however apologetic, bring to this most gracious of victory parades? So needless to say I was quite colossally relieved not to have to bring my “let’s see if I’ve managed to remember all the new Red Wall Tories!” cul de sac to the table in the wee smalls.
That being said, DOA as it clearly was from the moment Huw Edwards revealed the scores, my bit wasn’t fully and finally confirmed to have been cancelled until 2am, so I was still there in the green room for hours, the loneliest character of the whole enterprise, not even attempting any gallows humour with the rest of the jilted jokers, because I was sat on my own updating my Quizlet Premium, just in case. It was the night I learned the name Jonathan Gullis. It was a truly miserable night.
Today’s election will, we can only hope, begin a political era less dismal than the last. There are going to be a lot of new MPs and they will have a hell of a job on their hands. I am going to take a keen interest in how they get on. But I am not going to learn all of their names.
Ivo will be performing his shows Grand Designs and Carousel at the Edinburgh Fringe from 31 July to 25 August ivograham.com

lemme tell you about the new football anime please
It’s called Blue Lock and it’s my brand of absolute shitshow;
TLDR: the soccer anime is a shitty gay as fuck battle royale and your op here LOVES it.
First thing I want to make clear is that sports anime is a very vague definition because people who create these stories will literally just fucking do anything. Love it. You got your serious sports drama that inspire you to become better, like your KazeTsuyos and your Haikyuus. You got the fujobait/yuribait bullshit that’s just kinda themed around sports so it has a plot to follow along (Free!, Sk8 the infinity, that one about the golf girls dressed in lingerie I think).
and of course, the biggest contendant of the sports genre: the anime bullshit. Prince of Tennis, Kuroko’s basketball and, most recently: Blue Lock.
Blue Lock is a battle royale manga that uses football as a plot but it is impossible to make any statement on said plot because the manga is kinda silly and is constantly contradicting itself but that’s not the point I want to make. This huge post is not a criticism, but mostly about me sharing my new favorite cringe.
The art is stellar, I’m an absolute sucker for good dyanamic art in manga and BL (will purposely use this abbreviation that always makes me cackle) has so much power to its art, actually! Nomura Yusuke-sensei, the responsible for art and character designs, is very very good at his job!
(It’s hard not to get spoilery with these examples)
Anyways, when I started reading this thing the battle royale and the “anti-sports anime” aspect were the things that got me thinking I should keep going and, let me tell you, this thing does not go where you expect it to go and I will spoil you a little bit on very later plot details on this story, so just skim with your little eyes closed in case you...really don’t want spoilers for BL anime
I realize this post will not sound coherent at all, I’m mostly spitting out thoughts about a manga that I, admitely, have not thought about that much.
Yes, they have bullshit powers in this thing. They have SPECIAL MOVE NAMES they have JOJO STANDS they have ELDRITCH FOOTBALLIC ABOMINATIONS.
and it’s EDGY, good lords it gives the 13 year boy who watched too much anime vibes. I dig that cringe so hard.
The best part though? As every other representative of its genre, Blue Lock, the manga that has BL as its IN UNIVERSE ABREVIATION, is so unapologetically gay.
As gay as a battle shonen gets, which is a lot, may you not lie to yourself. You like your BL with childhood friends and cliche high school scenes, they got you a WHOLE ASS SPIN OFF AROUND YOUR FAVORITE GAYS.
Do you like your gays extremely on the nose and horny, I GOT YOU SOMETHING FROM BL
WHAT IS THIS BULLSHIT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN
This manga has been my personal source of campy madness for a while now. I purposely look for the chapter discussions on manga forums just to see how people react to these and most of the time you just get guys talking about actual football (boring) but sometimes.... sometimes you get these
(TL: BL is about repressed homosexuality with a bit of football sometimes sprinkled on)
the purpose of this post is just to tell you, this manga/anime may look like a serious shonenfied reading on japanese football but that is far away from its best asset. The crazy levels of drama and the homoeroticism are what you should be here for, because those will not require any critical thinking (or eye-straining, let me tell some panels are REALLY hard to get through, geez, the protagonist keeps turning into puzzle pieces)
If you got curious about it and want to have any idea of what awaits for you in Blue Lock, trust your friend over here, this is what you should expect.

Turns out Twitter filed to sue Elon of House Musk on Wednesday and I just found the filing. From page one:
Having mounted a public spectacle to put Twitter in play, and having proposed and then signed a seller-friendly merger agreement, Musk apparently believes that he — unlike every other party subject to Delaware contract law — is free to change his mind, trash the company, disrupt its operations, destroy stockholder value, and walk away.
Let's goooo. Apparently Twitter wants the trial to start in September, while Musk wants to wait until early 2023, which tbf makes sense. Musk also estimates that "at least 20%" of Twitter accounts are spam. which is very Big if True. From page two of Musk's counter-file:
On April 28, just three days after signing the Agreement, Twitter restated three years of its mDAU numbers, despite never disclosing the issue to Defendants pre-signing. Post-signing, Defendants promptly sought to understand Twitter’s process for identifying false or spam accounts. In a May 6 meeting with Twitter executives, Musk was flabbergasted to learn just how meager Twitter’s process was. Human reviewers randomly sampled 100 accounts per day (less than 0.00005% of daily users) and applied unidentified standards to somehow conclude every quarter for nearly three years that fewer than 5% of Twitter users were false or spam. That’s it. No automation, no AI, no machine learning.
Also this footnote on page three:
With the sense of humor of a bot, Twitter claims that Musk is damaging the company with tweets like a Chuck Norris meme and a poop emoji. Twitter ignores that Musk is its second largest shareholder with a far greater economic stake than the entire Twitter board.

Fic Interview Meme
Thanks for the tag, @toas-tea. :)
Name: JamesLuver
Fandoms I write for: Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, The Incredibles, Wreck-It Ralph.
Two-shot: On occasion, but I prefer oneshots.
Most popular multichapter: For reviews, Yesterday's Musings. For faves, The Shadow Proves the Sunshine.
Actual Worst part of writing: The first draft.
How you choose your titles: With great difficulty. Usually part of a quote, song lyric, etc.
Do you outline: I have a general idea of certain scenes when I start, then it builds from there. I plan multi-chaptered fics more carefully but I hate them because I rarely finish anyway so.
Ideas I probably won’t get to but it would be nice: Too many to possibly list. Still have the burning desire to write that A/B HP AU.
Best writing habits: Don't think I have any good habits, tbf.
Spicy opinions: Don't really have any, though in the past I've found it incredibly irritating when random people I have never spoken to in my life pester for the smut.

Productivity Master Post
So, I realized recently that I’ve tried a lot of different things to try to manage my executive dysfunction. Not all of them have worked for me and some of them I’ve tried and love but can’t find a way to make it actually fit into my general life schedule, or tried and didn’t really like at all.
I figured I’d share them. The ones that worked, the ones that didn’t, and the ones that I love but don’t know how to yet implement. Since everyone’s different and what works/doesn’t work for me, might work for others.
This will get updated as I remember things/try new things/etc. Each of the things will have links so you can take a look into them yourselves :)
Right now I’m just listing them out - I’ll probably edit this and do some pros and cons as well.
I’m gonna put it under the cut though cuz it’ll probably get loooong
I’ll start off with some Productivity Methods
Getting Things Done
Book by David Allen
Process:
1) Collect tasks
2) Process
3) Organize
4) Plan
5) Do
What started me on trying to figure out a productivity system for myself. In my experience, each person’s system looks different. It’s all just based on what works for you.
The two main concepts that I got out of GTD are
Being specific with my tasks with what needs to be done and when and by whom
Reflecting and Strategic Reviews: Looking at my system and seeing where my bottlenecks are, coming up with solutions, and being specific about it
Pomodoro Technique
Time management technique developed by Francesco Cirillo
This one I will swear by forever. Basically it helps me focus on my tasks. The typical Pomodoro technique looks like: 25 mins of Focused Work time (1 pomodoro “pomo”), 5 minute break, and then after 4 pomodoros - one long break.
Can be used to help you focus with anything - writing, cleaning, homework, anything that might end up taking a long time.
I use Complice and the Captains log to help me with this one.
Captain’s Log
A self-reflection method that I learned from the founder of Complice (linked above)
Basically if I’m doing a pomo, and I find myself getting distracted, or I said I’d do a thing and I find that I’m not doing it - I’ll whip out my captain’s log and note down what distracted me or what’s getting in my way of doing the thing.
I tend to use this when I’m doing my weekly/ review to help troubleshoot what I should try in the upcoming week or if there’s other areas that I need to work on first before doing the thing.
Eisenhower Decision Matrix (aka the Urgent-Important matrix)
This one helped me out a lot at school. Basically it’s a 4-quadrant decision making system that helps organize and prioritize tasks. The 4 quadrants are:
Urgent-Important
Less urgent-Important
Urgent - Less important
Less urgent - Less important
Eat That Frog
an Anti-procrastination method
Concept of doing the least pleasant very important thing first, or if there are multiple unpleasant important things - do the biggest one first.
So far, I’ve found it works best if I add some social accountability to it - like, letting someone know that this is a Frog for me, and I will do it today.
Things that work for me/I’m currently using:
Complice.co
https://complice.co/?r=ael4x5dmam (gonna plug my referral link :P )
This one I use to sort out my projects and goals. I currently have 8 goals - 2 of them are work related, and the rest are personal goals. When I was in school, I had a different goal for each course I was taking
Basically you list out what you want to get done on your goals that day - your “Intentions” - and at the end of each day you check off what you got done - your “Outcomes”
Complice has ready made spaces for weekly and monthly and yearly reflections, as well as integrated Pomodoro options and coworking rooms.
They also have a Goal-Crafting Intensive Workshop that they do at the beginning of the year which I found super useful and highly recommend.
Passion Planner / Bullet Journaling
I only recently discovered bullet journaling, but I’m finding that I like the method because it can be as simplistic or as all-encompassing as you want/need. It appeals to the wouldbe-crafter in me, and I love stylizing my monthly/weekly layouts.
Passion Planner I’ve been using since I was in school. I find that that it works well with Complice, and provides me with an easy portable hard copy of my Tasks and Goals and Reflections. I used to be very online about my GTD system and relied heavily on my smartphone to manage my system. Over the years I’ve discovered that I get distracted way too easily using my phone for it to really be my main productivity management item
A con to bullet journaling:
Super easy to get lost on pinterest, instagram, etc., looking for inspiration for your layouts. I’ve wasted many a day doing this :P
Habitica
Gamifying your tasks and habits. Basically - you’re a character in an RPG, you gain points and gold for completing your ToDos, Daily Habits, and
I find that it helps with providing a certain level of social accountability (Guilds, Challenges, and Parties)
Workflowy
https://workflowy.com/invite/ff47f75.lnx (another referral link plug :P)
Started using this one when I started bullet journaling, it helps that it integrates well with Complice.
What I currently do - I use Workflowy to collect my tasks for the individual goals that I’ve laid out in Complice, and then I put what I need to get done Today into my day’s Intentions on Complice.
Beeminder
Accountability that stings.
Basically, I make a commitment, I lay my credit card on it, and if I don’t do the thing that I said I’d do - I get charged for it.
Provides pretty graphs to see your progress on doing the thing, is basically a free service if you do the things you said you’d do.
Super helpful for eating frogs - if I can’t motivate myself to eat the frog on my own - you can bet that I’m more likely to do the thing if it means that it’s gonna take it out of my credit card.
Super good if punishment motivates you more than reward does.
IFTTT - If This, Then That
Love this service. It syncs services to other services that might not have a good integration with your fave apps on their own.
Works well with Google Home devices
Google - Gmail, Calendar, Drive (Docs, etc.), Hangouts, Groups
Our overlord has so many things - tbf, it’s competing with Microsoft Office, so it’s kinda gotta.
Gmail can integrate with so many different apps and services, and can be used for a GTD management system as well.
Calendar - my favourite part is that it’s shareable. When I did shared living, I could easily know my household’s schedule without having to ask them every time. I’m also polyam, so when I had multiple partners and was living with half of them - it made scheduling time together easy.
Hangouts - super useful for staying in touch with peeps. It’s been phased out of my life a little with the introduction of Discord. and I hear that Google might be actually discontinuing it soon (just like they did with Inbox - I’m still mad about that)
Groups - I mostly use this in my inbox. But good as a forum option. I know of shared house dynamics who use this to stay up to date with each other - do house announcements (i.e. when the plumber will be here, etc.) This one has also been phased out with Discord for me
Discord
Great communication service for groups - I haven’t explored it’s integration options fully - but I definitely like it better than Slack
I currently use it for my house (in addition to various fandom groups) - to let my family know if we need to buy x grocery/house item, or let them know I’ll be going away for the weekend, or won’t be home on time for dinner etc., I also use it with my IRL friends - we use it to plan get-togethers, share memes, etc.
I think most peeps know about this already - but shoot me an ask if I need to elaborate more.
Things I’ve tried but haven’t been able to successfully implement
Asana
A teams/group project task manager - used it when I use to do group living (i.e. a bunch of roommates). I’ve found it less useful now that I live with my family - mostly because it’s doesn’t mesh well with my family dynamic - but I can see how other families could make it work.
Trello
good project board - but it’s definitely more of a teams thing - or a group project thing. I haven’t been able to make it work for my own personal projects and goals. But that might be because of how my brain visualizes tasks - so it might work for others.
RememberTheMilk
This integrates super well with David Allen’s Getting Things Done.
I’ve found that it was good when I was using my phone as my main productivity management item - but I’ve found it less useful now that I use my passion planner.
if you purchase the Pro subscription you can use the location tags to get reminded of tasks when you’re at a certain location (i.e. reminded to submit x paperwork when you get to your head office, reminded to buy x item when you’re at or near x store)
Works well with Google assistant as well so if you have a Google Home device, you can sync your reminders.
Slack
Communication service for teams, groups.
different channels etc.
Good integration with different services (see Beeminder in particular)
I don’t find it as intuitive as Discord though. But I know tons of groups find it helpful and useful for planning and organizing.
Microsoft Office365 (Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint)
A lot of businesses, organizations, etc., use these - but I find that unless you’re pretty tech savvy already, learning how to use it is pretty hard. It’s not the most userfriendly and it definitely doesn’t play well with others. If you don’t already have an Office365 account it won’t work well for you, and everyone on your team needs to have an Office365 account too. Not to mention you need to have the appropriate Office365 subscription to get access to all the best apps.
But if you do have the money and everyone on your team has an Office365 account, it’s super useful - Sharepoint is great for sharing info to the team, sharing and editing documents, integrates well with Teams which now has a Shifts app (which replaces the old StaffHub app). Teams is good for having the more informal chats with the team.
I find that if you know how to use all the apps and services, it makes it super easy to work at any location. I have multiple locations at my work - and I find it really easy to continue working even if I’m not at my main desk.

One of the neat things about The Locked Tomb is the times that a character who's hiding something lets slip what they really mean, but in a way that you don't get until you reread it. It's like a fridge joke but emotional (which is different than foreshadowing, because you don't even realize there was a shadow at the time).
My favorite example in Gideon the Ninth is when "Dulcinea" is asked why she decided to become a Lyctor, and she says "because I didn't want to die." Past tense, because she's already a Lyctor. Only the second time do you realize that Cytherea didn't want to die.
This happens in Harrow the Ninth too, which I'm only just realizing. On the shuttle to Canaan House, Ortus expresses that he's glad he'll finally have the time to finish the Noniad, which Harrow interprets as him using the time while she's studying Lyctorhood. But Ortus is already a ghost at this point: he has the rest of eternity in the River to write his poem.
It's exciting to imagine what new rugs Muir will find to pull out from under us tomorrow.

Normally it would be easy to dismiss language anachronisms in fantasy. Having to figure out what the actual language would be doesn't usually affect the story in any way and takes a lot of effort, and not everyone can be like JRRT. In Gideon the Ninth, you don't think twice about the fact that they can still read the signs in the Canaan House laboratory 10 thousand years later. Gideon speaking in Tumblr memes is just a characterization shorthand
But then in Nona the Ninth it does matter. It's a relevant plot point that some characters speak House and some characters don't, and Nona is a universal translator. From Gideon we know that House has to be at least compatible with modern English, and the people who fled Earth no longer speak that (or call it English). Whether or not the language is necromantically frozen, it's being artificially preserved somehow

Kiriona Gaia Isn’t Gideon Nav
That’s an extreme claim, I know. And we’ve clearly seen a lot in common between the two. However, the differences are stark enough that I don’t believe that it can be explained purely as off-screen character growth over the course of several months.
Let’s review what we’ve seen of Kiriona in Nona the Ninth. She’s extremely possessive of and in love with Harrow still (“Get in line, thou big slut”); she’s besties with Ianthe (friendship bracelets, secret handshake); and she’s deeply loyal to the Emperor, her father (going on secret missions that even the other Lyctor Prince doesn’t know about).
The first one makes sense. When John brought Gideon back and bound her soul to her corpse, it was still her soul, only a little worse for wear for being killed twice already. The only way John seems to be able to create new souls is the old fashioned way (which tbf is how he created Gideon the first time). However, he clearly put his own spin on the body. The titanium bones, unbreakable skin, and leaving the hole through her chest are his mark of Cain upon Kiriona.
Kiriona’s friendship with Ianthe feels like a major stretch for Gideon. We know she can be temporarily swayed with puns (“gall on gall” -> “let’s get married”), but it’s a far cry from merely cooperating with someone you don’t like to becoming best friends with them. While I can see Gideon continuing to work with Ianthe like at the end of Harrow the Ninth for a significant period time, I find it impossible to believe they could actually become friends given how diametrically opposed they are. (I don’t think Ianthe can have friends at all, but this isn’t about her.)
I think the hardest part to swallow is her loyalty to John. Gideon wasn’t loyal to the Ninth House or the Houses as a whole a day in her life; her only loyalty was to Harrow personally, and even that was self-serving. Gideon was definitely a schemer; she wasn’t book smart (although even she picked up enough skeletal knowledge on the Ninth), but she spent a lot of time making intricate plans for escape, and they got pretty good. If Gideon knew that Harrow’s body was walking around on New Rho, it’s reasonable to think that she maneuvered things to get planetside to rescue her.
But she didn’t. Kiriona was a Lyctor Prince for a good deal before the New Rho operation, and I’m not sure how much she knew about Harrow’s body’s presence when the planning for that began. Instead, it turns out the whole thing was actually John’s plan to get Alecto back to the Tomb. The same John who’s only prior interaction with Gideon was ordering the death of her girlfriend necromancer. And even without the personal slight, Gideon hates authority figures. John is Crux turned to 10,000, and Kiriona took great pleasure in finally finishing him off.
Except, she didn’t. And while her response could be read as “revenge is hollow because it doesn’t get you back what you lost,” Kiriona seems to react as though she can tell her empty response doesn’t feel legitimate. This is my central thesis: John fucked with her mind when he rebuilt Gideon. He didn’t want a loose cannon teenage daughter, he needed a new Lyctor who would actually remain loyal after everyone else had turned on him. And so he ensured that Kiriona would be a better soldier than the ones he had just lost.
The biggest piece of evidence is actually the simplest: her name is Kiriona now. One of the major revelations in Nona the Ninth is how he built the crew that would later become the Lyctors post-Resurrection. Those sixteen people who were largely his friends and colleagues before the end of the world were not quite the same people that became the Lyctors and cavaliers afterwards. When he first animated Ulysses and Titania, he gave them new names to signify that they were new people. When he killed his friends and resurrected them, he gave them new names too. Their personalities were generally the same (Alfred was still the peacekeeper; Cristabel was still a martyr; Augustine and Mercymorn were still kismesises), but they explicitly didn’t remember who they were before. The same is true of Kiriona: she still had the same general personality as Gideon, but now her ideals are John’s ideals. She was resurrected with the same loss of agency that the rest of John’s people suffered.

Eyyy it's kurasuno's libero and ace reveal! Let's go!
My review of Season 1 ep 8:
Omg it's hinata 2.0 but shorter. Oh god him and tanaka sharing a braincell www
"He's like a horny tornado" HINATA PLEASE 😂😭
Jeez there's so much different emotions going through the first few minutes of the episode.
"Swish and bam, you got that?" LMAO tho tbf how else are you gonna explain it. Even tsuki was confused lol
Hey it's their future coach! "No matter what you won't change my mind" you say that now
Ohhh it's the ace! Omg he does look like Jesus the memes were true www
"ROLLING THUNDER" LMAO nishi please this isn't a shounen anime wrong genre my dude
BAHAHA HINATA'S IMPRESSION OF KAGEYAMA 😭
Damn, hinata and his speeches, and kageyama too! Both have some kind of experience to what asahi is feeling. "I know what he means, I miss that feeling" THEN GET YOUR TALL ASS BACK ON THE COURT

The same anon with an Euphoria question 😂lol
I did watch it. (Correction i watched it in 3 days but i didn't say that ) it was cool i was not interested that much but i pretty much spoiled mysekf everything from the memes but its ok i did geniously enjoy it. I feel like everybody on that show worked really hard. Cinematography amazing the make up the dresses amazing most important the talented actors they really made a good job with casting. Zendaya do i need to say more? I loved her preformance as Rue. It's a very interesting show that reavels just how fucked up life can be semetimes. As for season 2 i personaly liked it but it could use a bit of better writing i mean the director really did some charecters bad but he's not directing anymore so it's gonna be good( i get a d & d vibe from him he's creepy idk) but you can watch it if you have free time ofcourse💖💖💖 omg this is really a long review😂😍💕🌷
3 days afjfjsjdjaga also don't worry about the long message, I don't mind at all!
Agree with the hard work put into the show, honestly cinematography wise it just looks so good, and on the actors!
Yeah tbf all the comments everyone had about s2 were about the writing choices, that it built up certain situations only for the culmination to be either underdeveloped or just...meh? Or how they underused certain characters that people really wanted to see. Anyway, I'll keep my final judgement until after I watch it 🤭

Just FYI, something you reblogged has aparently been flagged by tumblr as violating whatever and ever. I'm assuming it was too risqué for whatever.
wait something recent? all that's showing up when I look at the review thing is a joke about doing porn which tbf the op is explicit, and an old zavibaka meme where any explicit stuff is blurred out, but I didn't get an email recently and idk how long they've been flagged since they're both from forever ago.

still thinking about that “we Have To Talk about how quips are ruining fandom by destroying meta and turning all fic into shitposts” post @ms-demeanor wrote a great rebuttal to, and about the other posts she wrote about it and about the You’re Doing Fandom Wrong attitude in it, and about the notes on those posts. not gonna reblog or reply to any of those because my thoughts are admittedly kind of random and jumping from place to place and probably OT to the point of the discussion, but you know. still thinking.
so, uh. not trying to start wank or anything but enjoy the ranting that got way out of hand under the cut.
so, like... that one “we can’t just block everyone who quips and shitposts because some of these people also write actual meta but then they unfortunately go back to Not Engaging With Canon by writing quippy shitpost-y stuff” line, or however it was actually phrased? besides the blatant entitlement with the “you have to fandom ONLY in ways I like, I can’t just engage with the part of the content you create that I’m interested in and scroll past the rest” thing (which kinda reminds me of the whole “you can’t CNTW on some of your fics, I should be able to read ALL of your fics” thing, in a way) and the ”I refuse to curate my fandom experience and I’ll make it some stranger’s problem” thing (which... reminds me of a few other things, but tbf it has probably been around since the very first days of fandom), what if someone doesn’t even see meta and quips/shitposts as fundamentally different and mutually exclusive approaches to fandom? what if they see them as just two ways to be interested in a specific fandom and interact with it, and maybe even closely linked together, so going from one to another is actually very, very easy for them? hell, what if they (gasp!) even mix quips and meta together sometimes?
I have a few posts about what I think Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese might have been doing with mythological references and themes in Dark, and about what I got from the series finale. some are meme-like, phrased in a joking tone, probably even shitpost-y? another one is literally just a gifset plus me having intense Feels in the tags, and the last one is an edit of the kind I’ve seen people complain about as “those cringey unoriginal tumblr aesthetics that all look the same” in at least a couple of occasions. does that automatically mean I only wanted to “win” at fandom (with my hard-earned prize being... a handful of notes in a fandom that’s not even that big compared to others) and that I haven’t actually spent probably way too much time thinking about the significance of Martha’s Ariadne play as a commentary on character interactions/plot/narrative themes (and honestly still do from time to time), or that I don’t occasionally read the captions under other people’s gifsets and suddenly feel very much enlightened about why the Ariadne play mentions the myth of the Flood of all things? that I didn’t start reading posts and comments and reviews and theories about the series finale as soon as I finished watching it? that, just because I didn’t write 10K+ words of Perfectly Serious Seriousness about all that stuff, I simply refused to Engage With The Text?
... and if I said that I feel a little irrationally self-conscious at the idea of writing down all of my (often rambling, sometimes jumbled) thoughts about a series that to me actually does feel very deep and complex, so adding memes and humor to that or finding different means to put my ideas out there makes me feel more comfortable expressing myself while also taking off the (admittedly made-up) pressure of having to write a whole coherent essay where I have to find a clear and explicit way to explain where every single thought comes from and how it leads to the next like I’m gonna get graded on it? or that a lot of those thoughts stem from memories of spending five years of high school translating and analysing ancient Greek poetry and reading and watching and discussing every available interpretation and reinterpretation of it from Nietzsche to Vernant to Dürrenmatt to Christa Wolf to Pasolini to a lot of others and from certain things in Dark violently hurtling me back to those times without even asking for permission, so a part of my self-consciousness is actually “I probably don’t actually know/remember enough about this to base a whole in-depth analysis on it even though I do think there’s something there” and another part is “shit I’m too lazy to dig through all of my old textbooks and homework and additional readings to hunt for the thing I feel the desperate need to reference or figure out who might have said it, so no extended explanation here either”? I guess in the end it would all boil down to “there’s an amount of effort and physical and mental energy I’m willing to put into fandom but I also have limits to stop something that makes me feel happy from becoming a chore”, which. considering the whole “you have to put all your resources into constantly pouring out 100% serious meta and nothing else because that’s what I like, no deviations allowed” thing? yeah, I can see saying stuff like that would still make me a blight upon fandom. and/or Not Engaging.
which, I realize, it’s a thing I keep coming back to. but that’s because I really, really, really hate it? seriously, what even counts as Engaging With The Text correctly? not shitposts, and not quips either, apparently. Regardless of the fact that humor and crack have existed in fandom since forever and that it’s actually not uncommon AT ALL for them to be born out of looking at canon from different angles, pointing out whatever the fan in question finds surreal/strange/implausible/convoluted/awkward/just kinda funny about it.
also, not canon divergence/what if fics motivated not by a desire to “fix” something that made us feel bad when it happened in canon but by a desire to actually fix what we felt was objectively a poor writing choice from the author, because we shouldn’t Engage by analysing the text to criticize it or to think over how and why certain aspects of it don’t work for us or how we think the structure of the text itself could be modified or even improved, we should Engage by... writing meta and/or writing canon-compliant fics with perhaps a little allowance for slightly-to-the-left-of-canon-compliant missing moments fics, I guess?
from what I’ve gathered from reading other fandom discussion some time ago, AUs are also out, especially Modern/No Powers AUs, because those are always just an excuse to slap your fave’s name on your OC/disguise your original fiction as fanfic to get comments/ignore all that’s interesting about canon to write yet another dumb syrupy high school or coffee shop AU, even if I’m honestly not sure what kind of AUs people are even reading to never get to the “there’s no supernatural threat so let’s focus entirely on the fucked-up family dynamics and blatant mental issues in a world where you can’t just ignore them by marrying off your daughter or sending your son to be someone’s squire” AUs or the “this is pretty much what happens in canon but adding new dimensions and different outlooks on the themes by moving everything to a new context” AUs. seriously, I could rec you a pretty great “this guy would be a horrible father and treat his children horribly in any world, it’s not just the feudal society around him, it’s him as a person” AU and that’s literally just the first thing that came to my mind. but, hey, maybe Engaging is only engaging with the canon plot and setting and nothing else, what do I know.
... fuck, thinking about it, I’m not even sure if by “not shitpost and not quips” I should even mean humor/crack? because it’s not like the OP was clear about it in any way? maybe it’s just all that’s weird and tropey and not-canon-compliant? I can see the “everybody gathers in the main character’s stuff to smoke weed and weird shit happens” fic I got a chuckle out of some time ago being one of the dreaded tumblr-born shitpost fics that are supposedly ruining fandom by ensuring that fans stop thinking (?), but what about the “everything is the same but this one character is a catboy, not for any particular reason but just because” fic I’m currently following and loving? people have been joking and shitposting about catboys a lot on tumblr lately (I distinctly remember that the last catboy joke to pop up on my dash was the “I’m your catboy gf and I’m stuck in a wall” one...) and finding an always-a-catboy!AU initially got an amused smile out of me, so is the mere premise enough to make the fic just a joke/just taking a trope and running off with it/just part of a shallow trend? even when the author literally goes “oh shit just realized this is all a metaphor for neuodivergence and masking” in the story notes? unless writing a character who’s never explicitly stated to be neurodivergent in canon as a being literally or metaphorically neurodivergent in your fic is always shallow projecting or posturing issuefic... instead of, y’know, looking closely at the text and Engaging with it by interpreting it that way....
I feel all this ranting/venting might end up plunging into Why We Slash discussion territory now, so I better stop here.
anyway, in short, good to know I’ve been in fandom for years yet I’ve always been just a Fake Fan who Can’t Think and is constantly Doing It Wrong (by Not Being Transformative Enough, possibly). gonna do my best to stay exactly like that in the future <3
#... see THIS is why i don't write meta#fic is so much easier be it crack or not#ugh i feel i should probably delete this to avoid a giant headache but let's give it a try

disco elysium review - or more of a vent I guess? will most likely containt spoiler
so I binged this game over christmas and finished my firt playthrough and I kinda don’t get the hype
like, it is a solid game, it was entertaining and it kept my curiosity I was just frequently dissappointed
like, most of the characters were quite shallow and stereotypical imo and the writers tried to cover that up with a shit ton of really pretentious dialogue that was oftentimes meaningless. sure the story was kinda satirical and I generally don’t have a problem with exeggerated characters in such settings, I think what ruined it for me was as said their pretentious dialogue and that the writers were trying to do both: have comedically exeggerated characters that spew a lot of nonsense but also have really sad and serious things happen to them which are suposed to make the player sad... and I’m like... no I don’t care what happens to these clown characters, they’re not real people and they don’t act like real people? (except that one side quest where you tell a woman you found her dead husband, that made me emotional but I’m sure it was only bc I never talked to her before she prolly would’ve said ridiculous bullshit had I engaged with ehr infront of the book store before, which would have ruined the scene later on) I also don’t have a problem with “everyone is awful” type of storys, but in such cases you gotta make me care about the characters and the world still. there’s still gotta be something catchy about the awful world and awful people inhabiting it. and here I didn’t really get that for some reason.
I didn’t like how they censored certain slurs but not the misogynist ones. like either censor all of them or don’t? but the entire story was pretty misogynist, lacking female characters, let alone interesting ones (but tbf I didn’t find the male characters interesting either bc they were all so shallow and stereotypical)
I did’t like the main character, I’ve had too many interactions with such men irl and I’m tired of them being the main character in every “gritty” story. It’s boring, I don’t care about middle aged loser men being sad and gross -yet *charming* - drug addicts who somehow still miraculously excell in their field and are beloved or at least tolerated by everyone. (irl such men aren’t charming just creepy, annoying and impossible to work with due to their self centered behaviour and most people don’t actually tolerate this, storys like this are just fairy tales dreamt up by loser men who want to act like a pig yet still be adored and face no consequences. irl they get fired pretty fast and no one wants to be friend with them)
I felt like my choices didn’t matter, oftentimes i didn’t matter if I failed a skillcheck or not and sometimes it mattered *so much* I got locked and had to savescum until I passed the check because there was nothing else I could do at that point (bc I had done everything there was to do that day, so no means to level up and improve that skill) and the MAIN story wouldn’t progress when I failed. very frustrating. I would’ve liked it if the skill checks mattered always AND if failing/passing just took me on noticeably different routes instead of locking me out and forcing me to reload. but maybe that’s too ambitious for a video game.
the ending was pretty disappointing. like... .why did they pull that random communist survivor out of their ass?? sorry if I missed hints before but for me that came completely out of nowhere and his motive was shit also WHY did they ahve to make him a creep too?? every male character was a fucking degenerate misogynist creep saying awful shit about women for no fucking reason. like wtf is wrong with their writers are they incels or smth the story they’re telling and the male characters they painted sure made me feel like they are. also wtf was the bullshit with the stickbug, was that meme already around when the game was made bc I definitely felt *stick bugged* but not in an amused way but in a “ok this scene was just super serious this sad man is having an aneurism or smth wtf it this random shit with the fantasy bug” - kinda way. what was that about???? WHY? (I did do te side quest with the cryptozoologists I just think it’s was extremely dumb that the bug appeared at the end)
ok I think I’ve complained enough at least I don’t know what else to complain abt rn. dunno if I will replay it differently, I am kinda curious if the playthrough would be different with a different build and if different choices would really change things... but I doubt it and also don’t really want to do all that again because it does drag on with all that reading and I can’t skip the dialogie obviously bc I wouldn’t see changes, the game is absically only dialogue after all.(besides... i did chose one of the speczialized builds but at some point I *had* to level skills I actually didn’t want to bc they didn’t fit the character I wanted to play but I felt it was impossible to progress otherwise, I assume it would come to the same with the other specialized builds)

DnA Reviews/liveblog
Hi !
Because I am trash and haven’t been able to load season 2 of DnA on my computer in like…3 months (at this point I’ve decided it hates me…. I couldn’t finish it when it came out and I still can’t watch it now that I’m trying again wtf), I decided I’m gonna reread the series instead. If anyone’s interested, know I’ll start tomorrow.
Now, I stopped it two or three years ago (I was happier just reading DnB!! to be honest, DnA got very frustrating at that point and I just kept wanting to hit the characters all the time hjsbvzvqkqib). I caught up recently but honestly I skim read it to see if it was as frustrating as it was when I stopped. From what I gathered some things got better, others didn’t. So I decided that instead of playing a guessing game I was just gonna rewatch the series but then season 2 got in my way again [insert the “Old Man Yells at Clouds” Meme here], so I’m gonna reread everything and try to give small daily reviews at the end of every few chapters (2 to 4 most likely) and maybe a more thorough one after specific arcs? As suggested by the titles, it’ll look more like a liveblog than a review kinda like my One Piece and Young Justice posts. (I know I’ll relatively enjoy Act I, it’s Act II that scares me ‘cause I’m the type who can’t enjoy fanservice if the rest doesn’t follow up and that was my issue when I stopped).
So I’ll try to post one a day but… I’ll be honest there’s a 30-60% chance I’ll forget the reviewing and keep on reading… and because of my mix of classes and work I might not get to read for a full week here and there (unless I’m full on procrastinating in which case I might do more).
Things got a bit personal so I’m putting them under a read more. It’s just a bit of a disclaimer to explain why I might stop during Act II again so if you’re not interested you can pass it. I thought about deleting this but it is a fairly important part of my motivations behind the reread/reviewing so I thought I might as well keep it. I haven’t decided on the tag yet but it’s most likely gonna be DnA: Review with a side tag like DnA Act I: Review.
I’ll be honest, I’m doing this now because I’m too tired to be frustrated by writing tropes I dislike and I’m hoping it’ll get me into act II more easily because the reason I had to stop DnA was because my frustration impacted my mental and physical health and I don’t want it to happen again because characters like Eijun are a balm for the soul (that’s how bad it got, yes).
So if it goes anywhere near close, I’ll stop again. Now I’m in a way better state than I was at the time despite being basically a ball of exhaustion, so there’s no real risk but… I really love the characters, it’s rare that I get so emotionally involved with a story to its core and because of this DnA represents something special in my life. I even started to ship naturally - ok it’s like only one important ship but I usually get invested after thinking, reasoning, understanding and I am not an emotional person by Nature. Getting frustrated by tropes I dislike is nothing new but not to the point of impacting my health even when I was dealing with the full swing of my depression (though tbf, fiction has always been a way to help me emote bc I suck at it irl…like…I can reach Miyuki’s level type of sucking at emotions and depression is… yeah not gonna go there). So it’s kind of uncharted territories.
I decided to do the review thing because it will help me notice if things go too far and, if I do stop I’ll be able to analyse it later. And I thought sharing with others might be fun.
All this to give you a heads up Act II will probably have me frustrated but if it goes out of hand because of my emotional involvement I will stop.
