not too specific dw!! i've done a Kinda similar scenario post before but it was a few years ago, so i thought i might as well do an updated hc version..

𐙚 Idia Shroud

He stares at your message on his screen in shock, asking if he wanted to meet up at the con you two were planning on going to. He did want to ask you to meet up, pretty much as soon as you mentioned you were going to that exact convention, but the thought of bringing it up was just too nervewracking for him.

The time it takes for him to answer might feel worrying. You might wonder if he didn't like the idea. It was pretty sudden, and it'd be a pretty big jump from the video calls that already made him quite nervous...

...And that's the reason he eventually gets it together (barely) and rushes to type a reply confirming that yes, he'll be there. It's soon followed up with a joke about how you have to promise you won't be too disappointed, which is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the anxiety-ridden scenarios running through his head.

One could truly only imagine the places Idia's mind goes to over the days preceding your meeting. He still sounds pretty much the same over text, but you know him at this point. He'll find a way to worry about things that might not even make sense to himself later on. Mainly he wonders if it'll just turn out to be an elaborate prank, and he'll end up looking like an idiot.

Soon the day of the con comes, and even though he's spent the entire night vaguely considering to make up some excuse, just because he's so nervous, Idia bites the bullet and makes his way to the spot you planned to meet at. He shoves his shaky hands in his pockets and takes a deep breath. If you were just pranking him, he might as well get it over with quickly—

When your face comes into view, it's like the crowds of con goers around you disappear. The way your eyes light up when you notice him replays in his mind over and over. "Uhm, hey... I hope you remember you promised to... n-not be disappointed." He eventually manages to say, smiling awkwardly.

It's hard to hear anyone over the noise of the con, yet somehow Idia never misses any of your words. He'd pinch himself if he wasn't too aware that it'd make him look crazy. You eventually start walking around together, talking about your favorite games, and the awkwardness slowly melts into the usual cozy silliness of your calls.

His nervousness never fully leaves, it is the first time you’re seeing each other in person after all. But he’d wanted to spend time with you like that for so long, most of it starts to just fade to make room for all the excitement and fondness. Ah, and you look even cuter than you do through a screen, he dreamily sighs in his mind… only to realize he didn’t do that in his mind at all, and now you’re both blushing. So much that the flames of hair surrounding his face turn pink at the tips, and you can’t help but giggle at how endearing he is.

You keep walking and talking, looking at anything that interests either of you. And to his surprise, and maybe yours too, it really doesn’t feel too different from the time you spent talking to — and loving — each other over the internet. It’s just a warmer version if it. At one point your hands brush together, and even though he’s still a bit nervous, he reaches for yours first, lacing your fingers with a smile equally as bright as the blush on his face… and after that, it’s just a regular date. The first of many, he hopes, already imagining all sorts of others. He knows he’ll be nervous to ask to meet up again, but after having you this close to him for the first time, he just can’t let it be a one time thing.

Honestly. It's probably not the best strategy to take if you want to drop hints that you like him— Not because he doesn't care about it, of course! He'll accept any gift you give him with a big, bright smile.

It's just that he's done similar things for friends back home, so if you're already somewhat close, it doesn't strike him as anything that's too unusual. "You gotta tell me what kinda food you like best, so I can repay you later." He says, happily digging in.

If you do tell him, as soon as he gets time inbetween his part time work, he'll show up at your doorstep with the dish. Because he just had to properly show his gratitude, you know!

He also insists to wash the utensils the food you give him come with. Tupperwares, bowls, whatever it is. He'll have them returned to your dorm in a timely manner, probably cleaner than they've ever been.

𐙚 Kalim Al-Asim

Kalim's history with food gifts is, to say the least, complicated. But when he sees the look on your face as you hand over the food you make, he can't help but smile himself. "Aw, that’s sweet of you! Thank you so much! I just gotta take it to Jamil first…”

Things get just a little awkward then, with Jamil right between the two of you for a moment, because Kalim will drag you along when he takes the food to him — He wants you to see his reaction when he tries it, after all! And the Jamil thing is just a formality, you’re his friend, he trusts that you wouldn’t want to hurt him.

…The whole process might feel a little discouraging to you. It happens every time you give him anything, and Jamil is never thrilled over Kalim being so trusting of you. Or anyone else, really. Kalim feels a little bad for you, deep down, having to witness all of that. Though if you do have the patience to get through that ordeal every time you want to give him some food, it definitely won’t go unnoticed.

Because while he does love your food, pretty much regardless of what you’re gifting him, what makes Kalim feel the most appreciated is how willing you are to still make him food despite that whole situation... And while he might remain oblivious to your crush on him for quite some time, you might notice how, one day, the way he looks at you suddenly becomes even warmer…

𐙚 Jamil Viper

Goes quiet for a second. It takes a moment for his brain to process what's going on. "Thanks, I didn't know you were into cooking." Jamil says after the pause, just to keep the conversation going. He feels a little flustered while he goes for the first bite, hesitating a little on instinct.

He takes another brief moment to think when you ask him how it tastes... he does already like it, just because it's a gift— But he does also have a lot of opinions about food, so if he thinks it could use more spice, he will let you know.

Of course, he's nice about it. Even if he doesn't love the food itself, Jamil still finds himself enjoying it. He might even ask if you want to cook with him sometime, if it sounds like something you'd like to do.

Maybe he'll make you something in return, or maybe you could make something together? He quickly realizes that his proposal might sound a little sudden, but you don't seem to mind it, so...

𐙚 Idia Shroud

It's for him? Really? Are you sure? He stutters out a thank you before he even knows what it is. All his brain has registered so far is that it's a gift. "Uhm, I'll take it to my dorm... a-and eat it later. Thank you." He mumbles, saying he's not hungry, but it's really just because he's too flustered to eat in front of you.

...Unless you prompt him to do it. Like asking him to try some of your food instead of just handing it over. He might just internally explode on the spot, but in a good way.

Idia is honestly a really picky eater, he doesn't really feel like eating anything other than candy unless he's really hungry... but if you're making the food for him, it's different.

He does start kind of wondering if it's a romantic thing, because some characters do that in romance anime. But he's probably just overthinking it, right...? You're just a really nice person. Of course.

𐙚 Riddle Rosehearts

Well, he's definitely not spoken to a lot of girls around his age range... if he's even spoken to any of them at all. That's the main obstacle, in Riddle's case. He just feels like he doesn't know how he should talk to you.

He does have enough common sense to know he shouldn't treat you differently because of your gender. Obviously. So he's not going easier on you with the rules or anything like that— he'll still scold as harshly as he'd scold any rule breaking guy...

...That's what he tells himself, at least. In practice, it's still true, but he can't help but second guess if what he's doing is really okay, at least while he's still getting used to you.

Luckily, Heartslabyul students are, in general, pretty sociable people, so you actually manage to get along with your dormmates rather quickly. It's just Riddle that trips on his words every now and then.

𐙚 Leona Kingscholar

Honestly, he's not thrilled about it. But it has nothing to do with you personally, and everything to do with how he just knows some of the guys in the dorm might get a little too excited about it, and he'll have to actually put effort into making sure they behave.

It's not like they're creepy or disrespectful or anything. Even your most obnoxious dormmates will, at most, just be really awkward around you — It's just the right thing, in Leona's mind, to avoid having you end up in these weird situations.

With the large amount of beastmen in the dorm, though, it's more likely that they'd get too nervous to even do that. They don't play around when it comes to respecting women. If anyone even dared to think about going against that, they'd be very, very quickly outcast.

But besides that, you're just another member of the dorm, to him. He'll at most complain about the dorm getting attention just because there's a girl in it and nothing more. You're still getting the "Herbivore" nickname if he finds it applicable.

𐙚 Azul Ashengrotto

You don't see any of it, but he's ripping out his hair over the whole thing. And it honestly doesn't even have anything to do with you — It's just that it's all so sudden? Your acceptance into NRC, and into Octavinelle, will definitely attract some attention, and he wasn't given any time to prepare for it...

He definitely does his best to make it look like he wasn't taken completely off guard, though. You're welcomed into Octavinelle with a big smile from him, telling you how honored he is to have you in the dorm— And it's not a lie, really, he is glad to have you, he's just stressed out.

Azul is fairly decent at helping you get settled into the dorm, despite that. He'll ask for your thoughts on the room sharing situation on your very first day, and make sure you come to an agreement on the matter as soon as possible.

𐙚 Kalim Al-Asim

Honestly really happy to have you. NRC turning co-ed is a big deal, after all! It means a lot that his dorm gets to be the one to house the first girl to attend the school.

Kalim was planning to have a big welcoming party at the start of the school year anyway, but since it seems it'll be an extra special one, he'll change his plans accordingly. He might end up going a bit overboard, but it's better to do too much than too little, right?

After the initial fanfare, though, he'll also default to treating you like any other Scarabia student. Which doesn't mean he's any less friendly or warm, it's just that he shows the same amount of interest towards any new student.

He worries a little about you feeling out of a place, though. He's heard from the girls he knows that it can be lonely to be in a space that's all guys, and he doesn't want you to feel othered like that! Maybe he'll talk to Crowley about letting more girls transfer, or something. Or at least introduce you to his other friends, if you want.

𐙚 Vil Schoenheit

Honestly, he's a little stressed out. Mostly for the same reason that would make Kalim so happy and proud — NRC turning co-ed is a big deal, his dorm is the first one to house a female student, expectations are higher than usual.

He lectures the other students on what not to do on the first day, and personally talks to you to ask if there's anything you'd like to be done to the dorm to make you more comfortable. He's mostly thinking about things like whether you'd prefer to not have roommates and such, but he's pretty open to any request as long as it's reasonable.

Honestly, Pomefiore might objectively be the best dorm to end up in, in this case. The push for students to be open minded and respectful is real. Anyone who's too biased and unwilling to change just gets filtered out.

𐙚 Idia Shroud

People start whispering about it the second the news come out —Ignihyde is like a lair for awkward people, their leader himself barely attends class in person. Having the first female student of NRC join in surely will make everyone there lose their minds, right?

And, yeah, people do get anxious, sure. But Ignihyde's image as this safe haven for the socially awkward also means, to their members, that they can be at ease around each other. And you are one of them now, so...

You don't really talk to Idia directly, but that's just because nobody does. He sends Ortho to ask you if you'd like a room to yourself, or anything else, really— He avoids mentioning anything specific because he doesn't want to sound weird, but he'll make sure you have whatever you need.

Your dormmates warm up to you pretty fast too. They're shy, and a good amount of them probably never really talks to any girls, but you're still one of them, above everything else. Gender doesn't matter as much after the initial feeling of surprise is gone.

𐙚 Malleus Draconia

Malleus isn't that stressed out about it, honestly. He knows it's a big deal for the school as a whole, but to him, it's just something that should have been done a long time ago. It's not like restricting student genders was helping anybody learn magic.

He's a bit puzzled when Lilia asks him about possibly taking measures to make you feel more comfortable. He has no issue with taking them, of course, he just doesn't think about them right away? It won't occur to him that you might prefer having a room to yourself, for example.

Because of Diasomnia's reputation, you're sort of shielded from most unwanted attention from the rest of the school, and your dormmates themselves are pretty much all polite people who keep to themselves. It's very peaceful in there, really.

Overall it's just not a big deal to Malleus himself. He'll be curious about how you feel being the only girl in the school, sometimes, but he won't ask unless you haven't shown interest in speaking to him first.

𐙚 Riddle Rosehearts

Considering how Riddle is before his overblot, yeah, you're not really off to the best start with your relationship— He's too focused on mantaining that arbitrary sense of order in his dorm, too aggravated by the handful of people who never quite listen, even if he doesn't mean to, he'll end up raising his voice. And he can really get quite loud.

Riddle does treat you politely, if somewhat awkwardly, when you're talking one on one. He does get a feeling you're put off by him, or something like that, but concludes it's probably just from Ace complaining about how strict he is, something like that...

It'll really take some time for him to realize exactly what the problem is. He's so desensitized to yelling too, he probably doesn't even realize he's doing it, at this point. One day, you're having lunch with Ace and Deuce, and he walks up to your table to tell Ace off for forgetting one of the many rules of the dorm, again, and that's when he finally sees your reaction from up close. The way you flinch even though his voice isn't directed at you at all.

It makes Riddle falter for just a moment, even though he still feels like he's in the right at this point. Maybe he goes on for long enough that you end up leaving, or you were just already having a not-so-great day, and it sticks to his mind. He feels this spike of guilt that's almost like it's coming from within— And he feels like he understands somehow, because he does, he just hasn't thought it through yet.

You don't hear from him much until a few days after the overblot. The incident with Ace sticks to his mind, and it comes back when he sees how distraught the whole situation leaves you. He awkwardly comes up to you to offer an apology, along with an invite to the next Unbirthday Party. "I... I wanted to say, I'm sorry for getting you involved in... all that. A-And I didn't mean to upset you when I was talking to Ace that one time. I'll do my best not to do it again."

It has been a while since the specific situation with Ace, it might be surprising to you that he remembers it, let alone that he felt the need to apologize for the whole thing... Riddle says he understands if you're uncomfortable speaking to him, that he'll leave you alone if you'd prefer, the cautiousness really contrasts with his attitude from before.

Maybe you can tell that, deep down, he relates to it. Or maybe you're still just wondering that. You do end up learning a bit about his home life during the overblot incident, after all— But he definitely doesn't mention it during his apology, nor does he ask for any explanation on why you react the way you do. It's more like unspoken understanding than anything.

He's grateful you're willing to give him any second chance at all, and determined to make sure you won't regret doing it. The Unbirthday Party turns out pretty pleasant, even if he's pretty awkward and clearly unused to it. You may or may not notice him shushing any Heartslabyul members that are being a little too loud.

It's a lot easier for you two to connect, after that. He was curious about you from the start, and he always thought you were pleasant to talk to, but was too closed off for anything to come out of it— Your bond is a little slow and cautious on both sides, and then you can definitely tell that his nervousness really peaks when he starts developing feelings for you.

And, as promised, no yelling happens within your sight ever again. He just holds back whenever you're around, at first, but it soon turns to him stopping himself even when you're nowhere to be seen. Even with "troublemakers" like Ace, whenever Riddle feels the volume of his voice rising, he stops himself. It's just not really necessary, is it? All it does is upset people, it doesn't make anyone listen to him more...

Ace comments on it one day, how it's just so crazy that Riddle's changed so quickly, especially since you two started to get closer to each other, he doesn't even yell at people anymore! There's a little joke about how "love changes people" even if you're not dating (or at least not open about dating) yet... Well, little does Ace know, he's actually right for that one.

Jamil Viper and Floyd Leech with a AuDHD!reader that's always wearing headphones in public areas (even if they're off) because the noise of multiple people talking distracts and bothers them and they think it's annoying/stressful? It might be one of the first things you two talk about. Someone wearing headphones isn’t anything crazy, sure, but it’s still unusual, so it catches his eye. You’re always wearing them when he catches sight of you in the hallways. He assumes they’re just regular headphones, and you’re just listening to music… And as time passes, he starts getting more and more curious about what music that might be.

One day, whether you’re complete strangers or friendly acquaintances, Floyd just walks up to you and asks, ”Shrimpy, what’re you listening to?” while looking at you with those big curious eyes. He’s wondered about it a decent amount already, probably placed bets on a wide variety of musical genres — Now he just needs to know if any of them were right.

When you take them off, letting the headphones rest on your neck as you tell him that actually, you’re not listening to anything, it seems like his eyes get even bigger. It’s just noise canceling, because the hallways get really loud, you explain. Floyd hums, tilting his head a little. It’s not what he was expecting at all, but he finds it completely reasonable. Yeah, the hallways do get really loud. He didn’t realize it was possible to, in a way, opt out of it like that. Most of his previous ideas just involved an exhausting amount of magic.

Floyd is a little bummed you’re not listening to any music though. The bets he was coming up with were getting pretty fun, so he’ll still demand you tell him about what you listen to. Then after that’s out of the way, he just doesn’t mind the presence of the headphones at all. Whether you have them on or not, he’ll still bug you if he feels like it, them being there never registered as you ignoring him anyway.

𐙚 Jamil Viper

Jamil kind of side eyes it at first, not because it’s his personal opinion on it or anything, but just because of the impression it gives off. Most people would find it kind of rude, wouldn’t they? It might seem like you’re not paying attention to them while they talk.

When you two actually talk to each other, though, he never runs into that problem, so it becomes a non-issue. You can hear and reply to him just fine, it turns out, and you’re always polite too, that’s more than good enough for Jamil. Sometimes you even take off the headphones, though he doesn’t mind it if you’re “listening to music” while you two talk, since it clearly doesn’t stop you from paying attention.

He does remain aware of how others might perceive it, though. Mostly because as you get closer, he doesn’t want people to misunderstand you— He never points it out because he doesn’t want to be rude. Until a certain day where you have to deliver something to a teacher comes, and your headphones are on, so he says ”It might be a good idea to take them off before you go. You know how the professors are.” You smile and tell him not to worry, you just wear them when it’s too crowded and loud around you, and that’s when he realizes what they actually are.

At that point, Jamil's already gotten used to seeing you with the headphones. He never thought you might have a specific reason for why you wear them so often, and knowing it now doesn't really change much of anything. Maybe he'll indulge his curiosity about it if he feels you two are close enough, but it'll really just be about curiosity. He may not fully understand why you find the noise so overwhelming, but it's not like that's going to make him think of you as a totally different person.

Leona was raised in the savannah, so yes, he doesn’t really get along with the cold. As soon as autumn starts, he’s grumbling about how awful the weather is that day. How glad he is that Savanaclaw stays at reasonable temperatures all year long, really, he doesn’t get how anyone could even enjoy this kind of weather—

”What’s so good about this damn snow, people look like stupid kids getting excited over it…” He’s ranting absentmindedly as you walk together when he glances at you, and sees how you’ve been shivering through every step. Leona’s look twists from mildly annoyed to actually kind of disturbed.

”Herbivore, did you forget your coat or something?” …Immediately, he pretty much forgets about his own complaints. Has he ever even seen anyone shaking this hard? And you expect him to just believe you’re fine? Did you freeze your brain off during this walk? He’s not having any of that, no way.

If you just keep insisting don’t even need an extra scarf, he’ll just decide that you know what, there’s no reason for either of you to be out in this hell weather— Keeping you closer to him than usual during the walk back to Savanaclaw. Where he, of course, will deny any claims of him getting worried over a small thing, and/or that he was cold himself and just wanted an excuse to go back to his room.

𐙚 Ruggie Bucchi

Like Leona, Ruggie also dislikes cold weather, he just expresses it differently. Less straight up cursing the general existence of winter, more laughing about how he’s freezing his ass off. He doesn’t comment on it as much either, because thinking about it just makes you feel even colder.

He does see a kind of aesthetic appeal in the snow, though. “I mean, who doesn’t? Leona-san doesn’t count, he just complains because he’s cranky about being cold.” He tells you when he’s explaining why he’s invited you to come to the courtyard with him to look at the first snowflakes to fall that year— Then he turns to you and you look like you’re straight up vibrating, and he’s actually horrified.

”Wha… What do you mean you’re fine? Are you crazy?” He’s even more wide eyed when you give him your response, are you seriously this stubborn? Isn’t this a hypothermia symptom? Ruggie scrambles to get his second jacket off himself and onto you. He’s freezing even before it’s no longer on his body, but that’s not his main concern right now. You’re getting dragged out of that courtyard.

…Ruggie has picked up on a few things from classmates who are familiar with snowy winters, yeah. And it just so happens that some of the stories might’ve been a little exaggerated. He insists you keep his jacket even after he calms down, then ends up getting a cold from the whole situation. Yeah, pretty embarrassing. Still better than risking you getting hypothermia, though, he’ll always say whenever you bring this story up.

𐙚 Jack Howl

The fact that you’re dating Jack itself prevents this scenario from taking place, honestly. Because if you’re together, then he has plans of introducing you to his family. And if he has those plans, he’ll make a point of gifting you a very nice, very warm winter coat for you to wear the day on the day of your trip.

That, and he’s actually knowledgeable on the dangers of cold weather and the signs of hypothermia. And the fact that he’s kind of built for colder weather in the first place means he’s actually pretty energetic during the winter. ”It’s getting colder soon, so don’t forget to bring your jacket to class.” That’s the text you wake up to, sent at five in the morning, the exact day before the winter solstice.

You also hear it often, it might not feel too cold now, but it will later, he explains as he reminds you once again. Even if you also come from a place with colder weather— So, if he meets you for lunch and you’re shivering in place, it’s either because your clothes aren’t keeping you warm enough, which Jack is constantly trying to prevent, or you could be sick.

And it’s not going to make him straight up freak out, but he already regularly fusses over you, so he’s just going to do it more. ”If you’re shivering like that, you can’t be fine. Were you feeling unwell earlier? You know it’s not a good idea to go out in the cold, if you do…” He’s already dragging you to a warmer area where he can get you a hot drink, asking you if you felt off at all today, and giving you his jacket — all three at once, and that drink is firmly in your hands very quickly too.

Ruggie, Jade, and Sebek with a Reader that's reeeeeeeeally interested in how beastmen, mer folk, and faes work! Constantly asking them questions, following them around, working up the courage to ask whether they could touch their more non-human parts...

𐙚 Ruggie Bucchi

He’s a little bit flustered, honestly. Ruggie has never really gotten treated like he’s so… unique? He can’t quite word it at first. It’s just that hyena beastmen are so common back home, and then he went to NRC, where beastmen in general aren’t rare either. He’s answered a curious human friend’s question here and there, yeah, but they’re usually not… that excited over any small answer.

Soon enough, he starts to have fun with it, not taking it too seriously. ”What, are you surprised I don’t eat raw meat for lunch?” He’ll ask you when he catches you watching him during lunchtime, smirking. Ruggie thinks your fascination is funny. He wonders what kind of place you might come from, he’s really never seen someone be so surprised over a hyena beastman like him. He’ll need to ask you about it sometime.

Freezes up a little if you ask to touch his ears or tail. On a second thought, he should’ve seen that coming, considering how fascinated he seems to be to you… but it still surprises him anyway. Do you even know how that could sound, depending on the context? He just assumes you don’t.

Ruggie will let you touch his ears, though. He just doesn’t see a reason to make it a big deal, you might be an oddball, sure, but you don’t seem like you have any bad intentions. “…You’re lucky I’m so nice, y’know. Some guys wouldn’t take that too well.” He tells you through a slightly awkward chuckle. His ears get twitchy under your touch, and he subconsciously leans into it, just a little bit. You’re definitely an interesting person yourself, that’s for sure…

𐙚 Jade Leech

Feels a sort of endeared amusement similar to Ruggie’s, but without the surprise element. He’s heard his fair share of questions, despite his difference in species presenting less overtly than your typical beastman… Partially just because Floyd used to bite people last year, though. But if you didn’t hear about that already, there’s no need for him to tell you.

When you ask him questions, he’ll answer very clearly, coming off quite friendly. Your directness is a change of pace that he welcomes. Plus he can’t help but find it funny that this look of awe never quite leaves your eyes, even when he thinks his answer might not be that interesting.

…But if you come up to him and mention some kind of rumor or myth you heard about merfolk, he *is* going to play into it. Especially if it’s the scary sort. ”Well, merfolk are very diverse. I couldn’t tell you for sure if we grow to this size because it made it easier to hunt humans in the past…” He tells you, barely concealing the chuckle that it gets from him when you go all wide-eyed again.

Jade isn’t surprised you’re curious about the texture of his fins or tail. He shrugs at your request to touch them, smiling widely. ”Perhaps. We’d have to find a way to get you underwater, though…” Is his official answer, which is actually entirely joke-free. He’s not going to take it as if you’re implying anything, there’s no way you’d know it even had implications— If you did do your own research, though, that’s another story…

𐙚 Sebek Zigvolt

Oh, everyone knows how much Sebek loves to talk about being half fae… Well, everyone but you, it seems. It’s like a dream come true to him. And a nightmare to his peers that are a little more sensitive to sound.

At first, though, he definitely doesn’t seem like he’s going to be that much of an open book. He’s giving you a stern looking frown as you point at his ears and mutter your first question. ”What sort of question is that? Even the most clueless humans know fae tend to have differently shaped ears.” He near scoffs.

But that doesn’t really put a dent in your curiosity, even though you apologize if you were rude. The exact second that you tell him you have not, in fact, ever seen a fae in your life and were just curious about the topic, that initial icyness fully melts away. Oh, so you’re not that sort of ignorant human, you’re different— Sebek thinks, and then it’s like he’s sharing some of the wonder you feel.

He quickly proclaims that he’ll teach you all about the rich history of fae, all the incredible abilities they can have— What’s that? You want to touch his ears? You want to know just how different his body temperature is? Sebek’s got you, of course he does. Touch usually kind of flusters him, but he’s already decided to be your teacher about all things fae. And if you want to learn even more than he’s teaching, to him that just means he’s doing a great job.

He’s already kind of imagined having a moment like that. It’s a thing that happened on way too many of the romance shows and movies he’s secretly watched when he got bored back home. And you are his first girlfriend, so his expectations are pretty much just the stories he’s heard from his family with a dash of what little media he’s seen before.

For the same reason, Epel already had in mind that a dinner date would be essential. That’s how you treat a girl right, isn’t it? You haven’t even been together for that long when he says, declares really, that he wants to take you out for dinner. ”At an actual restaurant in the city,” He quickly specifies with a determined look in his eyes. ”Not like, Mostro Lounge. The reviews online said it was real nice too.”

He’ll have everything planned out for the evening, and it’s actually all done surprisingly well too. Epel finds himself a nice-ish dress shirt and pants when he goes back home over the weekend, and he’s already done a few odd jobs around campus to make sure he has the money to treat you both. And of course he’ll wait in front of your dorm to pick you up too — only slightly resenting that you’re both still students right now, so he can’t do that while driving a cool car on top of everything else.

And when you meet him at the door, oh, how does he wish he had that car already— Though deep down, he knows he’d end up crashing it because he couldn’t stop looking at you. He’s already never silent about how he thinks you’re the prettiest girl in the world, and that remains true even now that he feels so blown away that it’s hard to come up with the right words.

He does tell you though. All red faced, with maybe a noticeable dose of awkwardness, he feels so much shyer than usual, kind of like he’s starstruck. When he’s walking you back to your dorm — which he insists in doing, like the proper gentleman he is — he might gather the courage to ask if you wanted to take a picture together. Epel feels silly doing it, and he’ll get flustered if you ask why… But at the same time, he can’t resist the feeling that he should make this memory permanent in some way.

𐙚 Idia Shroud

You might think it’s surprising that you got Idia to agree to properly go out at all, let alone to do something that’d warrant dressing up. You’ve definitely heard him talk about how he doesn’t like the idea of *stuffy, overly fancy* dates, how he doesn’t see the point in the whole thing, how he thinks people just go to certain places to show off because “the food isn’t even that good”… Idia definitely has a lot of opinions on the matter, none of them sounding very positive.

He is also a rich boy, though. One that’s more grounded than most, but still a rich boy nonetheless — You’ll find that his idea of “stuffy” is some place that he went to as a kid that has some genuinely insane, flashy gimmick, a possible black tie dress code, and artsy looking desserts that he shows you on his phone and scoffs at while he recalls how “mid” they tasted.

Basically, as long as whatever place you’re interested in going to isn’t too popular or crowded he’s pretty open to just going there whenever you want. He might whine a little about going outside, but you both know it’s not serious. He does get a little anxious at the idea of being somewhere that requires him to present differently than what he’s used to but… well, he’s just used to that, to a certain extent.

When he leaves his hideout to go pick you up, he’s pretty nervous, fidgeting with the sleeves of his favorite slightly nicer jacket he picked from the depths of his closet. You two agreed on planning most of the date together, as you always do, but regardless of how long you two have been together, Idia always gets a little nervous when you go out on proper dates… which is something he quickly forgets about when he sees you.

You might have to snap him out of the trance he gets into. Wow, how did he get this lucky, he’s thinking, and you know it because he says it out loud without even meaning to. He turns red up to his hair when he’s back in the land of the living, rapidly apologizing in case he said something weird, and you can’t help but laugh a little. ”S-Sorry, um. You do look really pretty… I meant that.” He mutters, voice high pitched and a little hurried. You get back to your usual rhythm soon enough, your presence helping him feel comfortable. He steals glances when he thinks you won’t notice, though, still wondering just how the hell he managed to get this lucky…

“…So yeah, it should be better by tomorrow, I think.” You say, letting out a sigh as you press the pillow to your stomach, but not too hard— Leona’s eyes just remain on you for the whole thing, like he’s committing every detail to memory. “It’s always worse on specific days.”

“Looks like it.” Finally showing any sort of reaction, Leona frowns slightly. “And you’re planning on just going to class anyway?”

“Well, I can’t miss an entire week every month, can I?” You huff out a quiet laugh, but he doesn’t seem to really share the sentiment. An alarmed feeling flashes on his eyes, slightly widening, and your laughter increases by the tiniest bit. “Oh my god, Leona, I’m fine. You’re looking at me like I told you I got stabbed.”

“You were *talking* like you got stabbed a few minutes ago.” He points out, glancing behind him towards the kitchen door. There’s the whistle of the kettle, finally— “I’ll get that.” He mutters before you can finish using up the small bits of strength you’d been conserving to get up.

“Do you even know how to fill a hot water bottle?” Naturally, you ask him. Leona’s ears go flat against the top of his head as he rolls his eyes.

“Come on, Herbivore. I wasn’t raised in a barn.” He snarks at you. You raise your eyebrow, unconvinced, and he huffs. “You know I have cousins, right?”

“And you were the one filling those up for them?” You reply with another question, and he clicks his tongue, just making his way to the kitchen without a word.

His footsteps feel almost noisy, contrasting with the silence that the entire dorm building is submerged into. Grim was somewhere in there, in his bedroom, but you’d already told him to keep it down when you had a headache earlier.

He tried to be sassy at first, but quickly changed his tune— There are maybe certain traits of guys that transcend species, you think.

”Ow, fuck—“ You hear Leona’s hushed swear from the kitchen, and it gets a small laugh from you.

“Careful!” You call after him, the hint of the smile staying on your face. He doesn’t respond to it, but you can kind of imagine the look on his face.

…It’s a few more moments of aimlessly staring off into space until he’s coming back. The hot water bottle makes its characteristic sloshing noises with every step of his.

Right now, that basically sounds like the first notes of Heaven’s choir as the gates open for you. He holds the bottle by its neck with one hand, like he’s afraid of the heat radiating from it.

“You can just hand it over.” You tell him, and just now you notice he’s setting down a glass of water on the coffee table in the meantime.

“Aren’t you supposed to cover that up with something?” He asks, and you blink, confused for a second. “The bottle, Herbivore. This thing’s hot.”

“Oh, it can go on top of the blanket.”

“You sure that’s enough?”

“Yup. Just hand it over.”

He hesitates a little, but the bottle is with you soon enough. You exhale, sighing in relief as you feel the warmth against your body, slowly seeping through the rubber and getting its hands into the tightly wound painful spots on your abdomen.

Leona watches closely. You can see his eyes moving in small steps, following what little movement you make. He sits on the couch, right where your feet would be if you hadn’t curled up on yourself like that.

“Do you believe I know how to make those things yet?” A bit to your surprise, he’s the one to break the silence, a tiny smirk pulling at the corner of his lip. You hum thoughtfully, hand resting on top of the hot water bottle like you’re grading it.

“Hm. Yeah, it’s not bad.” You shrug, shifting to get more comfortable. A surge of pain spikes through from the movement, making you wince, but the reward that comes later is enough. “Did you actually make them for your cousins?”

You ask the question absentmindedly as you pick up your phone, not planning to do anything in particular. He pauses. The silence tells you enough.

“…That’s what I thought.” You say with a smirk, mostly to yourself, and he makes an annoyed grunt.

“Oh, give me some credit. You said I did fine.” He complains, and your smile widens a little. “Is there anything else you need, or do I just get to be your footrest now?”

“Footrest is okay.” You snicker, looking up from the screen to see a spark of amusement on his face. Finally, you think, he was really looking so serious before. It’s almost funny to compare. “You’re gonna stay? I thought you had practice later.”

“I have practice whenever I feel like having practice.” Of course you do, you think as he shrugs. “We don’t have anything coming up anyway. I got more important things to do now.”

“Like being a footrest for your girlfriend.” You poke fun at him a little. The reaction you get is smaller than you expect.

“Yes, Herbivore. I’m booked for the whole afternoon.” He replies without missing a beat. You’re still kind of curled up, even though you’re laying more on your back now, but just to make the point, you let your legs shift a little, poking at his thigh. “I’m guessing those pain meds kicked in.”

“Oh, yeah. Thankfully.” You say, looking back at the screen, and Leona hums.

“…Do they actually take all of the pain away?”

“Not always, but it’s working pretty well now.”

At that, he frowns again. “And you’re saying you’ll just take those and go to class tomorrow.”

“…Yeah?”

Silence. Leona just kind of stares. You can kind of see the gears turning behind his eyes. It’s established this was his first time filling a hot water bottle, yeah, but you kind of wonder if it’s his first time helping someone with… anything period-related at all.

“Skipping is an option, you know.”

“Ugh, don’t tempt me. My attendance’s gonna go to hell.”

“You know I can just get that sorted out for you, right…” He replies in kind of a murmur.

…You said it like a joke, but he didn’t return that part of the gesture at all.

“What?” He asks, and you notice it’s been a few seconds since you started actually considering the pros and cons of skipping tomorrow’s classes.

It’s a little funny, how flustered he suddenly looks. And he only gives you that look *right now,* when you’re giving him that oh, I’m surprised you can be that nice look.

“Stop looking at me like that.” He mumbles, averting his eyes. “Just take the day off. No way you’re getting anything done if you feel like you’re getting ‘punched in the stomach’ for the whole day.”

…You’d used those exact words to describe your situation a few minutes ago, it reminds you. And he definitely wasn’t wrong, but…

“What about my notes, though…?” You protest, but your soul can’t be quite in it. It’s right at this moment that you feel your guts twist again, even through the muffling of the water bottle and the pills…

“I’ll pay Ashengrotto off to get you copies or something. Are you convinced enough now?” He responds without missing a beat. Your eyes widen a little at how eager it sounds. “C’mon, Herbivore. I know you’re stubborn, but it can’t be that bad of a deal.”

“Well, what if I’m also in pain the day after tomorrow? Would you pay for that too?” …You’re kind of just pushing back for the sake of it. It’s just how you talk to each other. You get a feeling Leona can sense that, especially when he gives you a smile

“I’ll make it a damn monthly subscription service if it means you’ll stay put when you’re in pain.” Again, he doesn’t miss a single beat.

You’re tempted to push back, but well…

It definitely sounded like a good idea, right now— And when you do agree to it, Leona gives you this grateful smile, you don’t think you’ve ever seen it on his face before.

And you smile back, getting the feeling this week definitely wouldn’t be as miserable as you expected it to,

It felt somewhat surprising that when Angel opened her eyes again, it wasn’t dark out just yet. Daylight poured from the part of the window she couldn’t be bothered to pull the curtain over, still relatively bright despite having turned softer.

...Or maybe it just looked bright because she had been feverish and pretty deeply asleep. That could also be it, but it didn’t matter.

She yawns, rubbing her eyes while the room slowly comes into focus again. It’s a bit messy around the bed, there’s laundry that needs doing, and a small but present stack of papers where some of the idols’ current activity was being reported and discussed. I still have to check it, she remembers with a sigh, but there was no pressure to get that done. At least not yet, and especially not in the day where she called in sick.

Getting some rest seemed to really do wonders for it, though. Her head still feels foggy, but when she touches her palm against her forehead and then her neck, it doesn’t feel as warm or tender. It would be fair to at least check work messages, right? She thinks as she reaches for her phone, charging on the bedside table.

Multiple popups are listed below the time, just enough to cover the background image. Not an unusual amount. While she’s still not fully awake, the names feel like they blur with each other when she scrolls, but that’s better than finding anything unexpected. Some polite words wishing for her fast recovery, one email from the company answering her question about venues. Nothing that needed immediate attention.

It’s pretty relieving, really. Calling in sick felt so intimidating for some reason. Days usually were pretty eventful, sometimes even overwhelming, but maybe the idols under her care were feeling more peaceful today? Maybe they were just too busy to cause trouble, or the complete opposite. It was a very practice oriented day, if she recalled correctly...

She scrolls back up, this time intending to actually read through the messages.

Tsumugi asks how she’s doing and offers to update her on whether anything notable happens while she’s away. Natsume curtly asks for her to reply to Tsumugi whenever possible because he’s worried and easily distracted. Nagisa sends in his well wishes and a picture he saw somewhere.

Ibara, apparently, had called.

𐙚 Riddle Rosehearts

Yeah, his mom was definitely was the type to make him take piano lessons as a little kid… They never really went anywhere, she didn’t want them to — because god forbid Riddle ended up wanting to be a musician or something — and it’s been a long time since his last lesson, but Riddle still holds some feelings for the instrument…

…Which are, basically, just a secret, mild distaste. He doesn’t dislike the way it sounds or anything like that, and it’s not something he mentions to anyone. Especially not to you, right after you reveal to him that you can play with that proud smile on your face. He’s not about to rain on your parade just because he didn’t want to play as a small child.

Riddle is kind of expecting it to feel some type of stressful when you offer to play something for him, he’s remembering the pieces he had to practice all those years ago, over and over again… But as soon as the first few notes come in, he feels the very opposite feeling starts to settle in his chest.

He blinks, watching you as you play. There’s a decent chance he’ll recognize the music, if it’s anything classical, perking up with a soft ”Oh, I didn’t know you could play that one.” Riddle is surprised at himself in how pleasant it feels to talk to you about the music, sharing small comments between stretches of wordless melody. It kind of flusters him, thinking you want to play for him specifically, but it’s overpowered by how comfortable it feels, too.

𐙚 Epel Felmier

Epel never really went anywhere near most musical instruments… Of course it’s not like he doesn’t even know what a piano is or anything like that, but the places he went to for elementary and middle school didn’t really have the budget to get a ton of music equipment…

He knew you played the piano because it came up in one of your conversations. He’s still kind of excited to finally be around more people his age even though it’s been months since he enrolled, so he always ends up asking people about what they do for fun — And he immediately thought of you when he found out one of the Pomefiore dorm’s many practice rooms was a music one.

”So, you said you missed playing the piano, right? I got a surprise for you.” He comes up to you one day, his excitement radiating through his words as he’s already dragging you towards the dorm. He didn’t ask Vil for permission to use it or anything, but… well, there’s no way that just letting you play for a little bit would harm anyone, right? It should be fine.

He hypes you up if you get hesitant over it. Then hypes you up again when your fingers are on the keys. He sits nearby, watching how you jump from one to the other all graceful-looking, he’s really starting to understand why some people go crazy over pianists— His eyes are twinkling with awe, even if you’re just warming up with something simple, even if you end up making a mistake. Ends up always asking you to play when you come over to the dorm… You’re basically the second coming of Mozart to him. Nothing you say will make him change his mind.

𐙚 Leona Kingscholar

Leona didn’t really intend for it to be his personal nickname for you or anything, but yeah, Herbivore does stick — at least for a while — and yeah, he’ll still use it even if you’re also a beastperson, regardless of what you truly are. He actually thinks it’s extra funny to use it if it doesn’t suit you.

The nicknaming is going to evolve with time, though. He does like using the occasional baby or babe, just casually, and probably not in public, but it won’t be the main thing he’ll call you. His preference very much is in giving you a specific, fitting nickname. Something no one else could call you, at least not in the way he does.

Since he’s started out with Herbivore, he’s most likely to keep following that animal theming route. It feels right, anyway. He’ll think about it, going through many, many working titles until he finds something that feels perfectly customized. It’s a significant amount of time until he just springs your brand new nickname on you, grinning all proud of himself... And after that day, that’s basically your second name.

𐙚 Jamil Viper

Jamil likes using your first name, and he’ll mostly stick to that. When you’re around others, it’s basically a given that he won’t be calling you darling or sweetheart or anything like that, since he prefers to keep your relationship away from the prying eyes of strangers. PDA is just not his thing, and it will never really be.

Part of why he sticks with using just your even in private is just the comforting familiar feel of it, but he also does genuinely love your name. If you listen closely, you’ll notice that the way he says it now is just a little different from how he said it before you got together…

On the rare occasion he calls you something other than your name, you can pretty much be sure it’s always going to come after a ”my”. Something like my love or my dear, which, fittingly, is more likely to slip out when he’s feeling more possessive than usual. But it’s pretty much reserved for that, plus whenever he’s comforting you for any somewhat serious reason. If you ask him to say it more often, he gets all flustered.

𐙚 Vil Schoenheit

Like Jamil, he also really enjoys using just your first name, said in this way that’s just slightly softer than how he says everyone else’s names. What distinguishes them is that Vil does that intentionally, in this specific way that’s clear enough for you to maybe pick up on, but not everyone else.

He really does like using petnames in private though. Vil is a little hesitant at first, because he’s definitely said the words before in some production he acted in. He didn’t think much of it then, they were just words for him— But now that he’s doing it for real, he can’t help but notice just how different it feels. He knew it would feel different, he just wasn’t expecting it to feel that intimate…

In these moments, he finds himself being particularly fond of the more domestic-sounding kind. Honey is a common one, darling is used but a bit less so, it’s mostly for when he’s feeling particularly affectionate. Silently expects you to return the gesture, but it still makes him blush a little whenever you do.

𐙚 Lilia Vanrouge

Lilia brings out the petnames pretty early on. Just around the time when he realizes his interest in you, which comes with the decision that now, his flirting is going to be intentional. The first one he uses will probably be something simple, easy to sprinkle into his usual speech, like dear.

He kind of likes the more “ambiguous” sounding names— That kind of stuff you might hear from the nice old lady who lives down your street. Hun and sweetie are other two favorites of his. Needless to say, he not only keeps it up even after you two start dating, but also specifically focuses on using whatever gets him the biggest reactions from you.

Despite having clear favorites, though, his approach to petnames is almost like he’s going down a list. One day you’re love, then the next you’re sweetheart. He likes to switch it up, see how you like different names, how you react to them. Very much encourages you to return the gesture, and if you do, he’ll copy whatever petname you call him, so you two match.
