I tip my hat to Tim Burton for using the full song, because the sucker's something like 7 minutes long. When this song debuted in 1968 I remember radio DJs saying they wouldn't play the whole thing, so a bunch of edited versions were used instead. Radio stations played the song so often I got really sick of it. (That's how we got new music back then, folks, radio stations.)

In my high school Poetry class we were assigned writing an essay about the lyric's meaning. I can't remember what I wrote. I remember wondering why the lyrics specified striped pants.

The song must have made quite an impressions on Tim Burton, who's only a few years older than me, and must have heard the thing as much as I did.

Favourite moments: Schwarzi and DeVito (+Michael Keaton) Batman moments, Kate McKinnon plus the jurassic park documentaries (+Jeff Goldblum), John Cena. Oh and a countrywoman of mine won so, yeah!
