The only people mad at the Spelivia scenes and the breakup with Whispers are fellow pick me ass bitches and that’s why I ain’t taking them seriously. Because once again nobody’s acknowledging that Spencer played that girl (she did it to herself but y’all know what I mean). Those idiots just talking about Olivia. As if Olivia forced that man to eye fuck her on stage. As if Olivia forced that man to go break up with her. As if Olivia forced that man to stay in that relationship longer than he should’ve. Liv let her feelings be known and she backed off. Spencer told Alicia to her face that he would try to move on with her and he did in fact try. Y’all and Alicia only mad because you thought he would change and grow to love that girl. But if she ain’t got it like that then she ain’t fucking got it. How’s that Liv’s problem?

layla's relationship with jordan is just so interesting. When they were younger, she was liv's best friend. liv and jordan were also best friends. and layla pretended like jordan was just some annoying guy that hung around. sometimes, that was truly what she thought. most of the time, he was her best friend's brother. and on other occasions, he was one of her closest friends.
he was probably her first crush, but in a way that was never discussed because he was eww a boyyy and liv's brother. she'd secretly be glad when he showed up, while making a show of how annoyed she was that he was interfering with their time.
she would make an excuse when her head turned looking for him as they got older, and he stopped hanging around as much. she'd roll her eyes when he was around, though secretly enjoyed it. and around the same time that it seemed clear that jordan was interested in everyone but her, she thought asher and her made more sense.
and jordan became someone she sometimes hung out with in a large group who messed around with anyone but her. their easy intimacy never disappeared, but layla's feelings did. she never fully addressed or admitted to them, even to herself, and she felt that could never happen anyway. asher was her boyfriend. and then spencer arrived, and she was immediately interested in a way she hadn't been with asher in a long time. she felt disconnected from him, and spencer brought back a spark she hadn't felt since her mom died.
jordan was no longer a focus, was barely considered a friend, and he was still her best friend's brother. but for all her work reconnecting with liv, she never tried with jordan because, well, they were never friends in the first place. a lie she got very, very good at telling herself.
until he did become her best friend. until it was him she was turning to in her darkest moments. it was him that brought her relief, and it was him that she fell in love with but, once again, could not admit to. he was her best friend this time, though. he wasn't just a person hanging around. he wasn't just liv's twin brother. he was her person. and once she admitted that to herself, the rest was over. he was never going to be anything less, and she would not lie to him about her feelings for him after that. she needed to protect herself. he had walls he still needed to break down to get to all of her, but once he had, he had all of her, and he will for the rest of their lives.

forever is the sweetest con: chapter one
Tumblr media
Chapter One: Genesis
A/N: hello there. glad to have you. I've got this posted on Ao3 already, but I've decided to crosspost here. Here we go.
Summary:
If asked now, he’d see it clearly. Where it started, how it started, and why. It all comes back to Tobias Hankel.
OR
Hotch/Reid through the years and what happens when things are left unsaid.
~000~
If asked now, he’d say it was obvious. Where things were going- where they’d always been going since that day in February, when the sharp chill of the Georgia air hardly touched the team when compared to the way fear turned their blood to ice in their veins.
In Aaron Hotchner’s veins, when the call came in.
JJ was gone, no one could reach her.
And Reid- Spencer- was gone, still, when they did eventually find her.
If asked now, he’d see it clearly. Where it started, how it started, and why.
It all comes back to Tobias Hankel.
“I choose-” He watched on in desperate fear, eyes never leaving the screen. He couldn’t bring himself to move, to look away, to close his eyes when he knew any second how that trigger could be pulled and Spencer Reid would disappear in front of him. “I choose Aaron Hotchner.”
All eyes turned to him, but he remained frozen. He heard the sharp intake of breath from his left, felt JJ’s eyes slide over his expression. His face remained neutral, schooled thanks to years in this role. He, despite what Reid might say, had the best poker face of them all.
“He’s a classic narcissist.” Hotch watched intently as Reid continued, looking for any slight of hand, any tell Reid could be giving. It was a message, and he knew that. He just needed the cipher. Come on, Reid, he thought. I need more than that. You’ve got to give me more than that.
“He thinks he’s better than everyone else on the team. Genesis 23:4-” He burned the words into his memory. He needed to remember that, he knew it. He knew Reid. “Let him not deceive himself and trust in emptiness, falseness, vanity, and futility. For these shall be his recompense-”
Thank you, Reid, his eyes finally, finally slid shut as the last piece of the puzzle fell into place. Thank you.
He turned on his heel, exiting the room. Out in the living room of that old, dank house, Hotch retrieved the bible left on the side table.
“I’m not a narcissist-” He started, ready to start translating Reid’s message.
“Come on, Aaron, you can’t take anything he said personally-”
“No, Gideon, stop, stop-” He snapped, frustrated. That’s not the point, how do you not get it? His mind raced, and he briefly wondered if this was how Reid felt every moment of the day. “Everybody right now, what’s my worst quality?”
The team stared at him blankly, and the wild streak of anger and impatience he worked so hard to control flared again. That’s not the fucking point, he wanted to scream at them. It’s right in front of you and you’re all missing it. “Stop worrying about hurting my fucking feelings- tell me, now. My worst quality. I’ll start. I have no sense of humor. Prentiss?”
“You trust men more than women.”
“Okay, JJ?”
“You’re a bully.”
“Alright, I’m a bully. Morgan, go.”
“You can be a drill sergeant sometimes.”
“Good, I’m all of those things,” And he was, he wasn’t blind to his own faults. Everything they had said was true, but- “Yet, none of you said I put myself above the team because I don’t. Ever.” Still, they didn’t get it, and he groaned in frustration. “Reid and I argued about the definition of classic narcissism on the way here. He knew that I would remember that.”
“Hotch, we know you’re not a narcissist, man-”
“That’s not the point.” He finally snapped. “That’s not the fucking point, listen-” He looked up and finally, finally, he had their attention. “He quoted it wrong. Genesis chapter 23, verse 4, look-” He lifted the scripture into the light and read the correct quotation aloud. “I am a stranger and a sojourner with you, give me property for a burial place among you, that I might bury my dead out of my sight.” It registered with Gideon first, and Aaron could breathe a bit easier. “He wouldn’t get it wrong unless it was on purpose.” He insisted, holding eye contact. “He wouldn’t.”
“He’s in a cemetery.” Morgan muttered, and now Hotch could take a real breath.
The rest moved quickly. He did it, he found Reid, they were there and he just had to find where in the cemetery-
Then the shot rang out from just over the hill Aaron’s own two feet were standing on, and everything slowed down again as he ran towards it. “Reid!” He shouted. “Spencer!”
Not like this. Please, just not like this.
“Hotch?!” He doesn’t remember getting there. He doesn’t remember his path from the top of the hill down to the bottom, or who was following in his wake. He just remembers the relief flooding his chest as he pulled Spencer Reid off the earth and into his arms.
“You okay?” He muttered, one hand wrapped firmly around Reid’s waist while the other cradled his head.
“I knew you’d understand.” Spencer choked on a sob and tightened his hold, tears staining the collar of Hotch’s shirt. “I knew you’d understand.”
And so it began.

The Spencer-Kim-Lewis Household
Vivian has been sharing her recipes and wisdom with young and old alike in her cooking club and Dennis has been sulking recently because Alice is making him socialize with other elders in the new community garden club.
Over the years Alice and Eric have noticed a bit of decline in their love life. Between Alice working on opening her own art gallery, Eric getting flooded with commissions, and all the other responsibilities that they have, they hardly have time for each other anymore. However, recently Alice received instructions from work for a more... sensual theme for her next exhibit at the request of a wealthy philanthropist...
Little Olivia just spends her days being the main character in everyone’s life.

When Spencer asked Liv what she was doing at GW’s house and she answered obviously like my parents live here. Like duh?? What kinda question was that? But then it made me think about earlier in the season and how Coop would be feeding Spencer lies about how Liv was always out making it seem like she was with someone or moving on or living her best life partying, when in reality she was at that house with Billy and Laura. I know the writers won’t connect it because they don’t write with care anymore. But having Olivia say something like “since Christmas I’ve been mainly staying here” or something and that being the moment Olivia finds out what Coop was telling Spencer early breakup would’ve set up not only her confession but it would’ve also set up an altercation between her and Coop perfectly. Coop still need her ass beat idc. And offering Liv’s house to Preach, a grown ass man in a house alone with 4 young women who they barely know is insane. Coop too damn audacious

It's a lot that layla spent her entire life feeling like she wasn't enough. This was made worse by asher and spencer cheating on her, but she always had this belief that she wasn't good enough and had to be perfect just to make someone want to stay with her, and even then it was never enough. But ever since her and jordan got together, she keeps finding out that not only can she trust herself with him, but he's wanted her their whole lives basically. When no one wanted her, when she believed no one ever would, jordan was there. He supported her. He wouldn't let her push him away. That's what made layla fall for jordan (and why she was so afraid of going there because her past relationships did so much damage, and she didn't want to ruin what they had. That was too important).
And then she spends the next couple years learning all about his childhood crushes, and she's always so surprised. She had no idea! He was mean to her when they were kids, so of course she never considered that. And then in middle school things are awkward enough. It once again was never a thought that jordan baker would be thinking about marrying her (doodling layla baker in HIS notebooks). She's always so surprised to learn how long this has been a thing because unfortunately she took him at face value for a long time. He was a playboy. He was immature. He was her best friends bother.
Jordan gets the girl of his dreams, and layla is still shocked to learn how long she has been that for him. But now there's a small part of her, against all reason and judgment and knowing that they needed to go through all of this to be right for each other, that's like why didn't you tell me? We could've had this the whole time?
She knows what she has. She has a man that loves her, a man that shows her that every day, a man that will always support her and want what is best for her. She's the lucky one.
