OG Bus Team and Cooking Skills:

Coulson is quite good in a kitchen. He knows a few things, always uses good quality stuff like olive oil or butter or real mayo. But he doesn’t usually have time for anything fancy, so it's often sandwiches or pasta salad. He does do a mean roast chicken. Does a fantastic grilled cheese. He also has a weakness for burgers.

Grant is a grill guy. Turns out perfect burgers. Keeps the chicken juicy. Has a secret sauce recipe (from his southern grandma). Otherwise never fancy. The only thing he can really bake is chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Makes really good hot chocolate. Also a credible bartender, mixes a mean martini.

May is a good baker. Decent cook, has a lot of good Chinese recipes her mother taught her. But she likes the precision of baking, and the patience of waiting for it to finish in the oven. She likes the repetative motions of kneading bread. She's especially good with cakes, and will covertly try recipes from The Great British Bake Off, until she's got them down. Has the highest spice tolerance on the team.

Jemma? Can't cook. I mean, enough to live on, but not enough to really enjoy. She makes really good sandwiches though! And she's good with inventing sauces and dressings; she enjoyes the chemistry of it. She helped May perfect her carmel-cinnamon drizzle for her apple cake.

Fitz also cannot cook; he's even worse than Jemma. Constantly lets things boil over or burn. Gets taken off the cooking roster after two tries. The best taste-tester though. Can pick up on all kinds of subtle flavours. While at the same time being able to eat cold burnt toast without noticing??

Skye wants to cook, but never got beyond KD on her own. She's shy about trying, but Jemma shows her a few things, and then Grant quickly takes her under his wing. She makes fantastic Mexican food, and her spice tolerance is second only to May's, surprising everyone. Also eventually concocts a veggie cream soup that everyone loves when they're under the weather.

Research is important it’s how you dont end up buying a trash can with a motion sensor lid that quits after a month… totally not speaking from experience. Also it should kd be illegal for ANY trash bin to be more than $20

See what I want is a bin that has like a trash compactor handle. However, those are $200 and I’m not made of money. I have a baseball card addiction to fuel somehow. We can’t be spending that much on bins.

Seeing Viv like that tweet about how "people need to get over the amateurish pilot" infuriate me to no end.

The pilot looks better than what we've seen of the show so far. Especially with the motion sickness trailer, Vaggie disappearing from it, and the weird static Yule Log video where they're just frozen in place. No movements, no blinking, NOTHING. Only the fire is moving.

And stans saying that the new VAs are a "massive improvement" over the old ones piss me off so badly.

If they're such an improvement, then why does have the new cast sound like the old cast??? Why not let the actors try their own versions of the characters? (Really curious if Alex sounds like Stamper) Hmmm almost like Viv knows the old VAs were a huge reason for the pilots success in the first place. 🤔🙄

The only character that sounds completely different from the pilot is Husk, who is just Keith David talking. I love KD but God Viv you really didn't give a fuck. You were just excited to have KD.

Also, it's so funny to me that she really thought she'd get Weird Al for Lucifer just because she met him in person once, and after getting Kesha and Norman her ego got so inflated she probably thought she could get anyone she wants. So glad Norman didn't come back.

Also, you know she probably gushed all over Kesha and showed her the Die Young video. "Look look I made something popular with YOUR song!!! I'm totally on the same level of stardom!!!"

All of this. If you like the new VAs that's fine, but anyone who argues that they're "a massive improvement" over the pilot cast is doing so around a mouthful of copium and Vivzie's boot; Blake's trying to sound like Michael and failing and Amir's got none of the danger Ed brought to Alastor. The only edge they're probably going to have on the pilot cast is singing, but we know that that's not why Vivzie dropped them all.

Also, this is a grapevine thing so I have no way of proving it, but apparently Viv soured relations with Kesha because she wouldn't leave her the hell alone.

Tapes! We got tapes. So many.

Starting off with some really cool stuff, courtesy of my brother.

Shame me as you will, but I have been going this whole time without a tape cleaner. This one is brand new! (Or, it was in 2001. And nobody ever used it!)

Next up is… a birthday card. On VHS! Technology is a beautiful thing. This one has some of the coolest packaging I’ve seen.

And lastly, the MCA studios tape. I haven’t had the chance to play this one yet, so I have no idea what it actually is. But it seems potentially really cool. Universal’s MCA Recording Studio opened with the Universal Studios Florida park in 1990, but closed in 1996, so it’s pretty neat to have an artifact from that short period. I can’t find anything similar to this tape online, so I guess I’ll just have to crack it open myself to see what it is.

On to some junk I bought today with my own hard-earned 60¢.

Are the Jurassic Park sequels any good? I don’t know. But I’m sure they’re better than the shitfest that Jurassic World was. And now I own them forever.

The Water Colors tape describes itself as a “classic forging of motion picture and music” that “pays homage to the endless cycle of waves, carved landscapes, breathtaking waterfalls and geysers that are water’s gift to us all”. Seems like a good thing to play in the background while I’m working on stuff.

As usual, I am obligated to buy every National Geographic tape I find. This one is about killer whales. Cute whale on the cover. You get it.

The Discover Channel tape caught my eye because it is completely nondescript on the outside. It’s unfortunately a Jesus documentary on the inside, but the outside os pretty sick.

And finally… that which shall not be named. Harry Potter sucks, yes, but I couldn’t resist being one of the only people on the planet to own a copy of a Harry Potter film that is absolutely not giving a penny to Miss Transphobia 202X.

But we’re not done. Oh no no. It is time for my special awesome machine. Her name is JVC KD-W110 Stereo Double Cassette Deck and we will be having intimate relations later. I’m currently using an old headset to hear her noises because I don’t have any speakers on hand, but it still sounds really really good.

I’ll probably make myself some mixtapes if I can get the recording working. I should have Amigo the Devil’s new album coming in on cassette in a few weeks, so it’ll be fun to play that on here too.

this is even more of a problem with after effects!

it's impossible to overstate the extent to which in spite of all of the above, after effects is somehow even more absolutely, non-negotiably indispensable than photoshop.

the absolute state of things in 2D motion graphics and UX (FUI & Lottie) right now is ghastly. Photoshop at least has Krita, GIMP, Photopea, and the like... After Effects simply does not at all, even a little bit. There aren't even piecemeal solutions for 90% of the shit I do in after effects on a routine basis like there are with the rest of the Adobe suite.

this isn't to hijack the post or to act like this is effectively any worse than what you're describing (it's not) - quite the opposite - im trying to drive home just how deeply unserious the "try these free alternatives uwu" argument is.

just fuckin pirate Adobe.

and don't get an apple silicon mac at all costs. Adobe isn't fully kd on these yet sadly.

everyone suggesting alternatives for Photoshop is inevitably not actually using most of the Photoshop functionality, which to be fair is probably the vast majority of the potential Photoshop userbase.

the reason Photoshop has been industry standard for 30 years is that it does almost everything and has almost always done almost everything. it has had a few weird slow adoptions, for example it didn't support basic live mirroring while drawing until the 2010s (ish). it didn't have recovery saves or auto saving until about then. it's never been the absolute last word in real media synthesis, that was Corel Painter for years and now I think CSP is probably the king. illustrator is better at vectors. etc. but Photoshop can do all of those things well enough to prepare a professional grade, print-ready artwork from RAW file to layout to text to retouching to total from-scratch illustration, in one step, with layer and channel separation, multiple types of masking, adjustment layers, lossless file object placement, vector text transformation including all standard print layout tools like kerning, like spacing, comprehensive font support, and both true font variation and faux transformation like fake bold and fake italic. and clients and print workflows are expecting PSD files and file preparation for this reason. Krita, as an example of a popular program suggested as an "alternative to Photoshop" which I have used for hundreds of hours to do professional and personal work, is great for drawing but has a completely unusable text engine, you can't make a webcomic with speech bubbles easily and quickly in Krita. it was like pulling teeth even trying to put "BABY SLUT" on my Lethal Company skin with Krita. but you can lay out an entire magazine in Photoshop in an afternoon, and people do (print preparation is whole other topic I'm not saying vogue is prepared solely in Photoshop, it isn't, I'm saying you CAN do it in Photoshop)

I have never paid for an Adobe product, I am not pro Photoshop, I am pro getting my work done. I would absolutely love for there to be an actual Photoshop alternative, but there isn't. there are individual alternatives for individual features of Photoshop, and if you are working in a limited professional scope or you just want a drawing program or just want to make your webcomic or just want to do pixel art then one or two programs will replace Photoshop for you. everyone who, like me, has to do RAW editing, fashion retouching, print and web layout, pure digital illustration, vector illustration, text and graphic design, and all the rest of the crap I have to do in a format that's accepted by publishers and the rest of the various workflow destinations it's just not realistic. which is why it's great that Photoshop is completely trivial to pirate at any stage of its development you care to install,including versions prior to the introduction of the AI crap, the cloud crap, and the rest of the crap no one serious is actually using unless their manager is forcing them to

🕰️TIME TRAVEL🕰️ I used to have some time travelling glasses. Then one day when I was travelling in some wild place in the 1920s I suddenly lost them amongst a small gathering of trees. I went back to find them but of course they were gone, slipped between the gap in this time and the past in all its incarnations. Recently I was given another pair. As soon as I put them on I knew they were for travelling. But not travelling into the past as I had done before, but travelling into the future, travelling into alternate timelines and realities. They help with the hop. My guides told me yesterday “You require further upgrades.” There I was feeling sorry for myself, thinking about keeping body and soul together. When I heard that I dusted myself off and said “I am ready”. I have some travelling to do, physically, mentally, astral my, emotionally and energetically. It pays not to get too bogged down. Just get on with it and keep doing those things that keep the upgrades in motion. Last night in this full moon energy I had a dream of travelling into the future. The world had regenerated and there was lush green grasslands, trees and lakes that rose up to meet them almost like a mangrove. We were travelling in a hovering tram. Later in the dream we arrived at a destination where someone had enclosed a portion of a river within the foundations of a house. People flocked there to partake of the waters. It was busy, like Lourdes, the water had been heated. I remember thinking how strange it was that people were choosing to be here in the river-under-house instead of out in the lush Jurassic World-like natural world. I didn’t want to be here, and I was concerned that stripping off for a dip may offend the mundane people who were there, who sat in the heated river in clothes, all crowded as though they were on holiday. @younglaurayoung feels the same as me about getting out into that rich, abundant and open world. We’ve been told that the waters commandeered by institutions are safe and owned. They are actually polluted because of them. I’m going to the wild places, following the breadcrumbs left by future me.
