What roles would Centaurs hypothetically be in?

I'm not sure yet! If I get to finalize what asteroid in the asteroid belt will be like, I bet it's somewhat related to centaurs too.

So far what I got for asteroids is that the bigger asteroids are definitely personified, then the unnamed smaller ones are creatures. So the bigger asteroids keep a closer eye on them, like rangers! Ceres is their leader. Well-liked and highly respected!

They're afraid of big old Jupiter because he's in charge of putting them in their place or even executing them, if they're bound to hurt anyone.

(For the record: Jupiter doesn't enjoy doing this at all, but someone's gotta do it. It's one of the reasons he still believes himself to be neither trustworthy nor good.)

Centaurs will likely be similar to this scenario with a somewhat different culture as asteroids and KBOs due to their placement from the Sun! But I do need to do further reading to make sure.
