Eijun peered up the snow-covered submit; wonderment and anticipation warred within him, the new norm now whenever they begin a raid. While the mountain itself was aesthetically beautiful, with its snow-covered caps, and especially the intricately designed castle that was built into the side. The arching pathways leading to said castle, however, were rather daunting. While most mountains had their fair share of danger, what with the chance of avalanches or rock slides; this one, in particular, was much more perilous if one considered what all lurked upon the paths.
The portal for Shogun's Keep let them out, not quite at the bottom of the mountain, but on a smaller plateau that was leveled off before the real climb would begin. While they won't need any equipment to scale it thanks to the two branched-off pathways that bordered around a deep, crystallized chasm. The edge of each path was dotted with plinths —roughly as tall as Eijun— where clawed braziers rested atop, the flames flickered whenever a particularly fluffy snowflake was unfortunate enough to drift lazily into the heat. The snowfall had been mild, yet consistent; and thankfully, it didn't obscure their vision. All it would take was one misstep to plummet down the gorge. Eijun wouldn't want to imagine what it would be like to maneuver through Shogun's Keep during a blizzard; that was if the weather actually ever changed. Some raids had cycling weather, while others were in a perpetual state of rain, shine, snow, or even night or day.

⤷ BEAUTIFUL BOY
Tumblr media
KAWAKAMI NORIFUMI X READER -> 0.3K
you can't help but to adore your boyfriend
Tumblr media
REQUEST -> ✰
CONTAINS -> nothing but love for kawakami cos he deserves the world <3, you call him pretty, you are straddling him but not in a sexual way‼️ (ok maybe kinda but not explicitly just in a soft makeout kinda way)
MORI'S THOUGHTS -> anon you genius tysm for requesting him!!!! i hope this is good cos i really focused on the he needs more love aspect of your message haha :)) sorry abt not getting the requests out in the order i got them, i'm working on the others as well i promise. also! mini hc nori is ticklish as fuck
Tumblr media
"YOU'RE SO PRETTY, NORI," you cooed. this certainly wasn't the first time you had uttered those words, neither would it be the last. not when the immediate reaction you got out of them was the furious pink blush that adorned your boyfriend's face. his hands left your hips, rising to his face as he tried to hide just how embarrassed he was.
you only giggled as you wrapped your fingers around his wrists, applying barely any strength to pull them away and expose himself to you once again. with you sat on top of him, there was little that your boyfriend could do to stop your ministrations as you cupped his face with your hands, thumb smoothing over his cheeks in adoration.
"you're- so- pretty- and- handsome- and cute." your words were punctuated with a quick kiss to his cheeks, with them being left scarlet in your lips' wake as norifumi squirmed and giggled underneath you. you could have spent an eternity like this- admiring the soft lines of his face and the deep intensity of his eyes, without saying a single word.
you didn't want to just tell him how much you adored him, but rather show it too. you leaned down, capturing his lips with yours in a searing kiss. you felt your boyfriend's arms wrap around you, his hands caressing you with just as much of a loving touch you that you had given him.
nori kissed back, his hands returning to their signature place at your hips that kept you grounded against him. his tongue clashed against yours in a pleasant kiss that had the two of you pulling away after a minute, panting for breath.
"i love you so much," nori whispered, a smile spreading across his face at the words. his face shone so bright that you couldn't resist smiling back, wrapping him in a hug.
"i love you too, baby." your breath tickled his ear and you laughed as he squirmed at the sensation. "and whether you like it or not, i'm going to keep calling you pretty until the day i die." you watched as nori's smile got a little wobbly, and he hid his face in your neck.
"thank you."
"i'll only be telling the truth, nori."

One of a kind friend
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*Kuramochi, Furuya and Kawakami*:・゚✧*:・゚✧ (a/n haven’t written in a long time for daiya and i hope this does it justice, sorry for the late response im a crappy person seriously) request: Hi! I have been loving your friend series because sometimes we fans are so absorbed ranting about ships that we forget our beloved daya boys would be amazing pals in everyday life :) may I request some hc about Kuramochi (my fave chara), Furuya and Kawakami (he is so underrated!) having a female (best) friend? If it's too much work feel free to choose whoever you want among them. Thank you 💕 please keep in mind that this is a female reader though i use you more so to include this talks of a female friend ! please read with that in mind my friends KURAMOCHI
kuramochi’s female bff is exactly like him. loud, funny, caring, and a wrestling fanatic.
girls aren’t allowed in the boy’s dorm but that means nothing because kuramochi is always sneaking you over
when kuramochi is sore from a practice or game and has time to spend with their female bff trust and believe he is begging for a massage.
“ahhh cmon i’ve been working so hard.” “and?”
is she still rolling up her sleeve and helping out her friend? yes. does she want to punt him in the stomach at the same time? yes.
always always always share ice pops on a hot day while complaining like old people
equally needing help with homework but both of you guys have too much pride to get a tutor so you suffer from sharing wrong answers back and forth
always at his games!! not shouting for his attention though. you know how serious he is on the field.
just an awesome duo that deserves everything
FURUYA
hasn’t been good at making friends since middle school and honestly could care less about them
until you came and spun his world your way and now he’s always in the library doing nothing but listening to you
because of dorm rules, you two are always meeting at random locations and you make a game of it
“why are we meeting by the storage closet?” “i was running out of spots..”
sharing earbuds listening to a shared playlist you two made together
furuya isn’t used to the heat but you’re always there to flare your arms up and down to cool him off
tried to get you to play baseball... you played.. and he hit you smack dab in the forehead you had a bump for a week
bought you a cold drink every day that week as an apology though you told him it was okay?
no longer talks about playing baseball with you because you catch with your forehead and not hands
KAWAKAMI
poor baby met you as he was making his way to the nurse office
ran into a door and caused his nose to bleed heavily
because he was rushing to have it fixed he didn’t notice anyway coming his way and slammed into you
getting blood on your uniform and shoes
you were chill about it though? pulled out tissues and a hello kitty band-aid patching him up in the middle of the hallway
ever since then, you’ve been his friend and part-time nurse because kawakami.. is the definition of clumsy
once was cooking french fries with you and cut his pointer finger deeply
instead of stopping the bleeding, he screamed.. which caused you to scream... now you both are screaming
he’s no longer allowed to cut any of the food you make but he can season and put it into the oven !

Confessional Mixtapes
a/n: does the title even make sense??? Not really.
Kawakami Norifumi x Gn Reader.
warnings: miyuki and kuramochi for the two seconds their in it /j but there’s none. Unintentionally 420 words.
Tumblr media
“You made me a mixtape?” He asks, jaw slack as he stares at the scribbles along the cassette label.
You nod, “I figured since you liked music I could just— you know it’s hard to explain.” You laugh, lowering your head.
“No, I understand!” Kawakami exclaims, shaking his head vigorously. “I actually made one for you too.” He chuckled, digging through his bag.
You watch him silently, feeling your cheeks tingle as you catch a glimpse of a neatly decorated cassette case in his hand, eyes widening at the note that hangs from it.
“Here,” he says, opening your hand and placing the cassette in the palm of it. “I’ve been meaning to give it to you but I never found the right time.”
You gaped, thumbing the neatly folded note. “Nori…”
Laughing again, he rubs the back of his neck, a light red hue crossing his cheeks. “The note might scare you a bit, me too since I can’t remember what I put on it, so you can read it if you want?”
“Out loud?”
He glanced around the room, seeing Kuramochi and Miyuki eyeing the both of you, creepy grins crossing their faces when you unfold the note.
“Probably not.”
You nod, eyes flickering from his to the neatly scribbled note.
Dear Y/n,
I don’t know when this is given to you, or if, but I hope you enjoy the songs on here. They were a bit hard to choose without being too obvious so I really do hope you understand what I’m trying to say.
And if not and you’re still reading this, I like you. A lot.
You hum as you finish it, folding it back how it was. Kawakami looked at you with an expectant face, waiting for you to tell him what was on the note.
“I have to get to class.” You say, his eyes widening at your dismissal. “Walk me out?”
He nods, slowly getting up from his chair, gently grabbing your bag, and walking beside you. “You’re not going to tell me what was on it?”
“No.” You answer, taking your bag when he handed it to you. “But, I will one day.”
“That doesn’t really make sense.” He says slowly, furrowing his brows when you stepped closer.
Leaning up slightly, you place a kiss on his cheek, lowering your head when you back away. “I’ll see you after practice, Norifumi?”
Nodding, he lifted his hand to his cheek, a noticeable blush covering his face. “Yeah, I’ll see you then.”

HII can I request a drabble of y/n and Kawakami on a first date date :0
First Date
Kawakami Norifumi
Notes: Hi anon, this was a cute request! It’s more of a scenario than a drabble... Thank you for requesting! I'm so sorry for the wait 😔
---------------
You're waiting for Nori at the Seidou gates nervously. It's a rare free day for the baseball team, and so Nori had asked you out on a date! Even though being anywhere near school on a Sunday would usually be met with disgust, today you were fidgeting with all the excitement of a freshman on their first day of school.
Soon, you see Nori in the distance, walking from the Spirit Dorms to meet you at the gate. He looks about as nervous as you feel, and you desperately hope you at least look a little put-together. He's wearing jeans and a black leather jacket over a brown hoodie, ever-so-different from the uniforms and jerseys you usually see him in. He looks nice, and you tell him as much when you meet him.
"Thanks… You look good too," he replies, blushing. "Although, it does feel a little weird. The jacket is Kuramochi's, he literally threw it at me before I left."
You two share a laugh. It's a nice touch, you have to admit. He holds a hand out to you in invitation, going nearly as pink as the Kominatos' hair, and you take it with a small smile and a flush of your own as the two of you head off.
The walk isn't very long, and you fill the time with idle chatter as you weave your way down the streets of Tokyo, stopping outside a small, cozy looking cafe. As you step inside, the smell of coffee envelopes with you and the bustle of the city fades to a hum, taken over by the soft piano playing from the speakers. You stop at the counter, looking over the menu and the desserts in the display case. You decide on a drink and some food, agreeing to share a slice of cake with Nori, before heading in the direction of a comfortable corner booth as he orders for you both.
He comes back with the food and drinks not long after, and you both settle in. The awkwardness of the “first date” has faded during the walk here, and so you quickly resume the conversation you were having before you'd stopped to order.
He tells you about his team, and training, and you see the shine in his eyes as he tells you about baseball, recognise his determination to keep up with his kouhais, and laugh at his anecdotes about the chaos that often follows said kouhais. It's a side of him you don't see often, but which amazes you. You're used to Nori being all shy and soft-spoken, but right now his passion shines through, and just listening to him is enthralling.
Eventually he catches himself talking non-stop, and despite your insistence that it's cute, he asks about your interests and hobbies, hanging off your every word, only occasionally chiming in. You find common topics, like your shared lament for school (ugh, exams are coming up?) and music you both like, and the conversation flows on.
You stay there for what feels like forever, people-watching through the glass panels and basking in the comforting feeling of slowing down in the midst of busy streets and busier lives. Eventually, you've finished your drinks, and the sun begins to set, so you take your things and leave the cafe, hand in hand.
Nori, ever the gentleman, insists on walking you home since it’s getting late, so you both stroll back, enjoying the cool evening air and the last of your date. As you approach your doorstep, he stops and turns to you. After the briefest moment of hesitation, he presses a kiss to your cheek with a small smile. He goes very, very red, but he speaks anyway.
"T-thank you for today, Y/N, I enjoyed it," he says, nearly whispering. "See you in school,"
He turns to leave, so you pull him into a hug with a quick "See you in school!" before turning to your door with a smile.
Yeah, it was a good day.

¦ I'll keep this with me forever. ¦
It was exactly 3 am in the morning. All the apartments surrounding her, had their lights switched off and had escaped to dreamland. There would occasionally be a car or bike which raced past in the street she lived but other than that, there was mere silence. However, that was not the case in a certain someone's apparentment. They had their lights on and were seated correctly on a wooden chair as they focused their attention on the woolen fabric in front of them. The dusky blue color of the fabric was slowly taking its shape as they carefully knitted it into what they wished their partner needed.
–Ringgggggg–
Their phone rung loudly and so caused them to jump out of their seat a little. As unsettling as it was, their features turned soft and happy as they glanced at the name of the caller. “My Nori💘”. It was none other than their partner; partner in crime, partner in life.
“H-hey babe, what's up?”
Their husky and sleepy voice was evident but the boy thought it was due to them being woken up early and so, didn't question.
“Good morning, beautiful and a very merry Christmas.”
The brunette male was always the one to remember details and be the first to call on such important days. It was no different today. This made their heart pace slightly faster as they quickly turned their head to look at the clock. "6:01" am was what it stated and so it triggered a train of thoughts until it was broken by the pitcher's words.
“Y/N, are you there? Did I wake you up too early. I'm so-”
His apology was cut short as they tried to regain their composure.
"Merry Christmas, my love. I'm so sorry, I'm just tired but that's not important. Are we seeing each other for breakfast at the cafe, today?”
Time had went by so quickly and it was only thanks to pulling an all-nighter were they able to complete the gift they had prepared with so much thought.
“Ofcourse, I can't wait to see you. 9am right?”
He smiled to himself as the thought about finally meeting their partner after a week sparked their mind. It was Christmas and who better to spend time with than their beloved.
“Great, I'll see you there, babe. I have to go now and get ready. I love you!”
“I love you too, Y/N - chan”– «Phone disconnects»
The abrupt end to the conversation could appear rude to some but it was most definitely unintentional. They still had so much to do, from wrapping the present they had made with a card to dressing up and getting to the cafe in time.
After a few hours had past, they made their way to the cafe; dressed up in a long white jacket and warm red leggings which had reindeers on them. The pitcher stood mesmerised by the sight of his partner, as if looking at his favorite thing in the entire world. His round cheeks were painted with a dust of pink hue as he took a few steps forward to answer the greeting which the latter had made a second ago.
“Merry Christmas, let's go in and have some breakfast. I've been waiting for this.”
The Seido player had to add the last part with the intention of displaying his feelings towards them. It really had been a long time.
After an hour of enjoying their breakfast, the pitcher urged the latter to open the present he had bought them. The red with gold stripes on the wrapping paper added to the festive vibe and they were already thrilled. The two exchanged smiles before they pulled on a ribbon at the top of the box and slowly unfolded their present. There it was, a CD cover with both their faces on it and inside was a CD which included all the songs they had listened to, together. Their heart melted and the urge to simply embrace the pitcher and not let go for an eternity, grew. Could he be any more perfect?
“T-thank you, Nori-kun. I love it. How did i ever get so lucky?”
The simple compliment spread fireworks in the brunette's heart and mind before they shyly placed their hand on the top of the other's.
“I can say the same for myself. This is nothing compared to what you do for me, every single day...”
His words were kind and honest; a combination which only a real man holds whilst speaking.
The moment took an even deeper turn as the Hazel orbed boy now had to shut his eyes for the present to be unveiled to him. After slowly opening his eyes, the boy met with a dusky blue fabric rolled up neatly, with a card on top that read “Only for the best man in the world 😉”
His blush grew deeper and heart paced slightly as he lovingly took the note and placed it aside before revealing the true shape of the fabric to himself. It was a sweater. The size seemed perfect and the color was one that always complimented the boy's skintone. It was perfect in all ways and what made it even more so was the fact that it came from their partner. The love, thought and time put into the present could be felt. If he could cry and display his raw emotions, he would, but rather took to something even more assuring.
As daring as it might be for the third year pitcher, he cupped the other's cheeks and closed off the distance between them. The cherry lips collided and created a response that of a volcano eruption within their hearts. It would happen every single time. Breaking apart for air, the boy only looked deep within the eyes of their partner before closing the gap again. The way he kept sealing each moment, expressed how much he appreciated the gift and their love.
“I'll keep this with me forever, babe. It's the second best present I've received, coming right after you.”
Oh did he know how to say the right things at times like these. Today was just another step towards strengthening Intimacy and confidence within their relationship.

redamancy (n.)  the act of loving the one who loves you; a love returned in full.
Kawakami Norifumi x reader
You can find the song Nori sings here!
A/n: Don't know how active the daiya fandom is but I started watching it maybe a month ago?? Yeah, anyways Nori's really cute and I got inspired by the full moon we had recently deff wasn't lying on the floor of my bedroom watching it, nope definitely not .
----------------------------------------------------------
Soft, dewy grass tickled your skin. The cool night air and dark sky enveloped you like a blanket.
Your arms were tucked underneath your head as you stared up at the sky; the full moon mimicking the feeling of the sunbathing. You closed your eyes and enjoyed the calm atmosphere created by the symphony of crickets and other nocturnal creatures around you.
The consistent soft swish! Of a bat slicing through the air was the only reminder that you weren't out here alone —along with the slightly heavy breathing coming from said person.
You turned your head to watch the person work at perfecting, what you considered to be, a simple motion. Nori worked diligently on his swing, taking small intervals to catch his breath here and there. The moonlight caused his skin to look as though it were dusted with crushed diamonds —the small beads of perspiration caught the light making him look ethereal.
You closed your eyes again, enjoying the summer breeze that danced through the air —the smell of rain floating along with it. There was some shuffling behind you, not long after you felt your head being gently placed into someone's lap. You peeked open an eye to see Nori looking down at you; a goofy, love-struck smile plastered on his face.
"Enjoying the moonlight?" His voice came out no louder than a whisper.
You hummed in response. Your eyes fluttered close at the feeling of his hand running over your hair. One of your hands reached out in search of his free one. Once located, you threaded your fingers together and rested your joined hands on your stomach. You both sat like that for a few minutes, nothing but Nori's soft humming of the song 'The Way You Look Tonight' filling your senses.
His quiet hums quickly transitioned into soft, clumsy mumbles of the lyrics. It was very rare that Nori’s reserved demeanor allowed him to sing in front of you, usually when you caught him singing his face would flush and he’d stop on the spot. Occasionally though, when he felt brave enough, he would sing to you; his voice would always flow out naturally to the tune of the song. His singing voice sounded heavenly in a way; it reminded you of clear skies and sunlight.
The combination of Nori’s relaxing voice and gentle brushes over your head and cheeks cast you into a dream-like state. You were caught under his spell, enchanted by the actions he used to convey his love for you.
When he reached the end of the song you opened your eyes to look up at him only to find his attention still focused on you. You smiled when his face flushed at the prospect of being caught staring. You unlinked your hands and brought both of your hands to cup his face, thumbs brushing over his round cheeks. You pulled him down into a kiss, your faces bumping awkwardly at the odd angle.
Both of you pulled away with a soft laugh.
Your eyes had started to grow heavy, a slight burn to them whenever they remained closed for longer than 2 seconds. When you let out a quiet yawn Nori pulled your body fully into his lap —one of his arms wrapping around your back and the other under your knees.
"let's get you to bed now, hm?" He whispered with a kiss to your temple.
"yes please," you mumbled half awake.
You felt him raise you into the air as he stood up, and then the rhythmic bounce of his calculated steps as he carried you to his dorm. The next thing you knew you were being placed down on his bed, soft and cozy with his large assortment of blankets littered across the mattress. He slid in beside you not a minute after you were placed down, immediately he wrapped you into a tight hug, Nori's nose pressed into the top of your head, breathing in your comforting scent.
"goodnight Nori," you whispered.
"goodnight Moonbeam"

Good thing I don't care if everyone knows I'm a loser, since there's no anon lol Jealousy headcanons for... Miyuki, Kuramochi, Kawakami, Ryousuke and Mei please ^^'
Thank you for telling me my anon button was off I fixed that so everyone don’t hesitate to send me requests!
Miyuki• This boy is very subtle with showing his jealousy. He shows it more in his body posture. He gets very stiff. Kuramochi (the ever observant bby) can tell right away and teases him for it.• He’s not gonna March over and stop you from talking to another guy but he will definitely keep his eye on you to make sure the guy won’t try anything.
Kuramochi • He would definitely get irritated if he sees that another guy is making you smile and laugh. If Sawamura is around he might take it out on him and kick him a little harder.• If it goes on long enough he’ll go over and pull you out of the situation.
Kawakami• Out of all of them this sweet cinnamon roll is the least jealous. It would take a lot to make him that way. He doesn’t mind if you talk to other guys but if another guy touches you he would start to get jealous.
Ryousuke • Whoo buddy does he get jealous. God forbid you talk to another guy for a second too long. • He would walk over there and make up a lie like “the coach needs you” to the guy with his signature smile.• If you call him out on it he would definitely own up to being jealous. And he’d later make it a point to show you how much you were his. He’d definitely leave a few bite marks and hickies.
Mei• He’d be the most jealous. He’d be very huffy and pouty.• He’s not afraid of PDA so he’d march right over to you and pull you into a kiss in front of the other guy. Then he’d give the guy a smug look.

Okay, so i was just for fun doing a zumba class with my mom and i request daiya boys in a zumba class.
I honestly think Sawamura would be good, but he'd be either competing with Furuya or rolling on the floor at how ridiculous kuramochi and Miyuki are doing. And get kicked out after sjsjjdjdj
If its the kominato brothers, for some reason I think their mom would have made them dance with her at home when they were free.
Imagine if the current third years took one together and I can imagine Zonos face of panic because the teacher for the zumba class is going too fast. Shirasu and Nori would probably end up doing really well but embarrassed to be with their miyuki, kuramochi, and zono with how their dancing.
I can only laugh at how tetsu and jun would look and that makes me very happy SJJSJDJDJDJ cause imagine tetsu dancing with a blank expression and everyone thinking hes mad and jun with a scowl while hyping him and tetsu up
- :]
LMAOOO THIS IS HILARIOUS !!! imagine if kataoka-kantoku made them all take a zumba class for 'team bonding'!! thanks for requesting :))
daiya zumba class
including: sawamura eijun, furuya satoru, kominato haruichi, miyuki kazuya, kuramochi youichi, maezono kenta, shirasu kenjirou, kawakami norifumi
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
concept: kataoka-kantoku decided that it would be a good idea if the seido boys did a bonding activity. he remembered that during the recent graduates' (yuki, jun, ryosuke, etc.) first year, they had to do a zumba class for 'team bonding'. so why not bring back the tradition?
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
sawamura eijun
funny enough, he's a better dancer than baseball player, and that's saying A LOT
well, when he's actually trying
he was in the front, so he was so focused
but as he took the chance to look around, he started rolling on the floor
because fortunately for him, his teammates can't dance for shit
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
furuya satoru
one of the only ones who looked relatively good
for someone who looked like all he did was sleep and play baseball, he could actually keep up with sawamura
and yes it's a fact
he can shake his hips better than shakira
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
kominato haruichi
he was both lucky and unlucky
unlucky because he had to actually do this when he was younger
because ryosuke came home one day and made him do a bunch of zumba classes
so that haruichi didn't embarrass himself if he every had to go through the hell ryosuke had to go through
so lucky for him i guess?
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
miyuki kazuya
1 / 2 reasons sawamura was rolling on the floor
miyuki looked like he was doing the chicken dance
like, he cannot dance
there's a reason all he does is baseball
he's actually putting in effort, trust me
you just can't see it
─── · 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
kuramochi youichi
2 / 2 reasons sawamura was rolling on the floor
kuramochi looked like a robot
like, you'd think he'd be graceful with the amount of wrestling moves he practices on sawamura, right?
NOPE

Can you rank seido boys from the first (early) to last about getting married ? I personally dont think Kazuya will be married until mid 30s but Eijun will be sonehow late 20s ? Idk. What do you think. ??
THIS WILL BE SO FUN!! also i think most of them will marry by at least 30,,, once they have an established job and such. anyways here’s what i think of who’ll get married first (will be doing only og first-second years because i get side tracked easily). sorry if i miss some boys :’)
-
1. shirasu kenjiro: i can imagine him pulling someone since he has amazing music tastes. needless to say he’s so kind
2. kawakami norifumi: another fluffy boy who’s kind, he’ll def want kids early
3. kominato haruichi: just like his va, baby boy is bound to find love early i just know it
4. maezono kenta: no explanation i just have a feeling he’ll also marry a bit early. mid 20s maybe?
5. kuramochi youichi: will probably focus on baseball for a bit but will def fall in love >:)
6. sawamura eijun: third to last on focusing on baseball
7. furuya satoru: also is focusing on baseball
&. miyuki kazuya: i mean he’s more likely to go pro; he’s devoted his entire life to baseball and would not put his attention is anything else until he’s satisfied
-
these are just my opinions though, what do you guys think?

Day 1 - A - Age
Do the OTP+ plan on spending their lives together? How do they imagine their relationship years from now?
[J: I think yes but not without some bumps in the road. I think Umemiya probably thinks there are so many better people out there for Nao and since Nao--in my opinion--probably isn’t very open about his emotions, it takes him an embarrassing long time to admit certain things. So it leads to some miscommunication. But Nao wants nothing more than to spend his life with Umemiya, who despite being a “tough guy” it’s super easy to read his emotions]
Piano notes floated through the air as Umemiya’s fingers danced along the keyboard. Now and then, he would pause in his ministrations to write notes on the music sheet. A contemplative frown formed as he worried his bottom lip between his teeth. Humming, he played a few combinations of notes before picking one and continuing the song.
Nao listened quietly as Umemiya worked on the piece that he and Kawakami Norifumi (of all people) were creating for their class. The music sheet had come from Kawakami. He wrote the original score for Umemiya to go over. The song sounded beautiful, and Nao could see it paired with a love story. He wondered who inspired Kawakami to write such a beautiful piece.
He leaned his head back against the armrest of the couch, his legs lying across Umemiya’s lap. This was becoming a daily occurrence for them—Nao relaxing while Umemiya worked on his music. It was so strange to see how engrossed Umemiya became when it came to the piano. It was a side that Nao had only ever seen with baseball, and he wondered what other sides he would uncover in the years to come.
Because there would be years to come—for Nao, at least. Whenever he thought of the future, Umemiya was right there with him. That wouldn’t change, right?
Umemiya finished scribbling something on the music sheet and began the song from the beginning. Nao silently watched him work. His heart squeezed fondly in his chest when Umemiya came to the part he rewrote and smiled when the notes fit seamlessly together.
The talent Umemiya had for music was astonishing when you considered his appearance—all rough and jagged edges—but Nao knew the tenderness in his heart that others didn’t often get to see. If just given the chance, he didn’t doubt that Umemiya could do great things with his music.
Nao just hoped that he’d be there by his side when the world finally took notice of him.
“Hey, Umemiya.” Umemiya didn’t even pause his playing as he hummed in response. Nao wondered if he was really listening. “We’ll always be together, right?”
Umemiya’s fingers slipped on the keys, creating a terrible, jarring sound. His eyes widened as the words sunk in and a dark blush formed on his cheeks as he turned to stare at Nao. “What?”
The expression left a sinking feeling in Nao’s chest even if Umemiya looked adorably flustered like that. Nao motioned between the two of them with his hand. “When you think of the future, what do you see?”
Fidgeting, Umemiya rested his hands on Nao’s legs. “I dunno.” It was mumbled and unsure, but most importantly, it wasn’t the answer Nao wanted to hear.
“You don’t?”
Umemiya pouted and took a slow breath. “Maybe composing a world famous song?” He closed his eyes in thought. “Makin’ something people like?”
“What about us?” What about me? Nao wanted to ask.
“Uh… why are you askin’?”
With a huff, Nao crossed his arms and stared at the ceiling. He didn’t want Umemiya to see the hurt in his eyes. He really just wanted to hear something about them being next to each other the whole time or something like that, but maybe that wasn’t how Umemiya saw their relationship.
“Because—” Nao licked his lips and took a steadying breath “—when I think of the future, I see myself in my dream job.” Looking down from the ceiling, he locked eyes with Umemiya. “But I also see you there supporting me. We’ve been together for so long, I just figured you’d be there as well. If that’s not how you feel, then…”
Nao looked away. He couldn’t continue that thought. He didn’t want to think about them going their separate ways. Not now. Not when he was finally ready to tell Umemiya that he loved him.
“Really?”
The waver in Umemiya’s voice caught Nao off guard, and when he looked back at his boyfriend of about a year, he saw tears. “Really?” Nao meant to say it like a statement, but it ended up sounding like a question of his own.
Umemiya didn’t seem convinced. His hands held onto Nao’s legs tightly. “You don’t think there are better people out there for you?”
Where in the world did that come from? Was it because Nao hadn’t said ‘I love you’ yet? He just wasn’t like Umemiya, who had said the words within the first month of them officially dating. Nao was too afraid to say it and he had thought that Umemiya understood.
Perhaps he waited too long to say those magic words.
“Umemiya,” he said sternly, “there is no better person for me than you.”
“Ya mean it?”
The hesitancy and worry in Umemiya’s voice still didn’t sit right well with Nao. Of course, he meant it. He never realized how keeping silent for so long had hurt Umemiya.
Nao beckoned Umemiya over, and—carefully maneuvering Nao’s legs to the side—Umemiya settled between Nao and the couch. Nao took Umemiya’s arm and wrapped it around his waist to keep himself from falling.
“I mean it,” Nao whispered in the space between them. “You’re the only thing I want from here on out.” The words were on the tip of his tongue, but he still paused. The fear of letting someone in like that trickled down his back and made his palms sweat. But for his sake and Umemiya’s he had to say them. Nao reached up and touched Umemiya’s face, feeling the stubble along his jaw. “I love you.”
The grin that broke out across Umemiya’s face knocked the breath out of Nao. “Shit, Nao.” Umemiya pulled him close. “It’s about damn time. I was starting to think you didn’t like me.”
Nao snorted and buried his face in Umemiya’s chest. He mumbled an apology. “It’s just hard to admit, idiot.” He said it with such love and affection.
“Who woulda thought that I would be the more emotional one.”
“Probably all of our friends.” Nao laughed, as did Umemiya. “So… about my earlier question.”
“Ah, Nao, seriously?” The flustered look was back on Umemiya’s face, but Nao wasn’t letting him get out of this question. “I guess, the same thing, but with you there.”
Good, Nao thought. That was exactly the answer he was hoping for.

Kataoka Tesshin
He’s very proud of you.  Watches the whole speech with pride, his heart aching just a bit at how grown up you were.
Thinks everything about your speech is fantastic, and can’t find any criticisms, even though he’s a language teacher.
Greets you with a hug and quiet words of pride.  The pride is engraved on his face for everyone to see.
 Miyuki Kazuya
He wonders how he could have possibly raised a kid with as much strength his kid.  Kid must have gotten it from you, because it certainly wasn’t from him.
He’d made speeches to media, of course, but he wasn’t very good at them and was always awkward.
This was why he was so floored by your perfect execution. How is this kid his?  The poise, the diction, the word choice?  No tanuki here.
Doesn’t want to admit he’s a little choked up, but he totally is.
 Takigawa Chris Yuu
Beaming with quiet pride.  Stands where you can see him, 100% supportive.  Nods when his child looks at him.
He’s very impressed with how put together kid is and how structured the speech is.  Kid has managed to make it heartfelt and meaningful, without letting it drag on too much.
When the kid is done, he meets them, slides his arm around their shoulders and kisses the top of their head – girl or boy, that’s how he shows his pride, along with a soft, “Well done.”
 Kawakami Norifumi
The secondhand embarrassment is real.
Not because he doesn’t think his kid can do it, or because he’s embarrassed of them, but because he can’t even imagine giving a speech in front of people.  He dies a little bit inside.
He’s blushing the whole time, and he catches the eyeroll his child sends at him, but he manages a smile for them.
Get’s a “Daaaad.  It’s not that big of a deal!” from them.  It is a big deal and he’s proud of them for doing something he can’t. Tells them so and buys them ice cream after.
 Sanada Shunpei
Probably the obnoxious dad that grins and teases his kid. If it’s a solemn event, he keeps it between the two of them, but he still does it.  His way of calming any nerves.  Taylors the teasing to the kid’s personality, since he knows exactly where the boundaries are.
Watches keenly, his expression soft and his pride near the surface.  He thinks the world of them and is very proud of them for stepping up.
When they are done, he pats them on the head and follows them around until it’s time to leave, letting them dictate the pace. Will probably get them a reward of some kind.

Title: Maybe things happen.
Chapter 2: Uncoupling Theory (Day 2- Bonds)
Characters: Kawakami Norifumi, Shirasu Kenjirou, Miyuki Kazuya (minor)
Relationship: Kawakami Norifumi x Shirasu Kenjirou
Rating: General Audiences
Total Word Count: 2179
AO3
Event: @daiyarpwk2020
In 1976, Dr. Diane Vaughan proposed the “uncoupling theory” or the idea that in a relationship breakup, there is a significant point where they will know that the relationship is “over” even as the relationship can continue for a long period of time. A denial of reality, if you will, to hope for an opposite to the inevitable.
--
“Guess this is it.”
Even as they made eye contact, he felt the lump in his chest swell and grow. He wasn’t sure if they could do this without at least one of them breaking down. And already he could feel the tears building behind his eyes, his upper lip quivering, and his shoulders tensing. But as always, Kenjirou didn’t even change expressions. He wasn’t surprised.
He nodded shakily, “yeah...I guess so.” He shifted the box in his arms carefully, taking care not to jostle anything as he left their house for what was the last time. Placing it in the trunk, he looked back at Kenjirou one more time. Only their years together allowed him to see the pain the other was in: stiff shoulders, and an even more blank face than ever. Swallowing harshly, he opened the door to his car, and mouthed one final goodbye.
– 1 month prior –
“If you could just....” He threw his hands up in the air, struggling to make his point clear. Closing his eyes for a moment, he felt himself begin to shake. Quickly opening his eyes, he refused to look into Kenjirou’s eyes again, knowing they’d show the building scorn and annoyance he’d seen for so long that it almost felt common. Reaching a hand back, he fought to find the sofa and managed to sit down with a collapsing groan. His head in his hands he tiredly began speaking again. “Just sign the papers Ken, we can be done and over with this. Everything will be fine then.”
He didn’t glance up, didn’t see as Kenjirou swallowed harshly, as he blinked away seldom-seen tears, as he fought himself from choking up as he attempted to reply. “Everything will be fine? Fine.”
With a shaky breath, Nori managed to pull his face away from his palms and look at his partner. “Thank you.” His chest clenched painfully, relief mixed with a bitter longing. Even as he stood up again to reach for the papers and hand them over, he felt a strange desire to shred the documents. To pretend none of this had ever happened. To go back to pretending. But imagining the return of those days was painful enough to still his shaking hand. He handed the papers over swiftly.
A few signatures later, it was all over.
Neither made eye contact as they left the room, eyes burning, and hands refusing to stop shaking.
– 6 months prior –
He sat back in his chair with a slump, a scowl on his face as he looked around the room.  Kenjirou was nowhere to be seen. Unsurprisingly. Lifting the drink to his lips, he threw back the glass and coughed his way through the burn in his throat. He saw Miyuki eyeing him as he went through successive drinks in the same manner, but he wasn’t drunk enough for that inevitable conversation. Sparing a glare for the entire room as he finally spotted Kenjirou deep in discussion with, he squinted, Kuramochi, he gulped down another. Reaching for another drink as he saw the brilliant smile that crossed Kenjirou’s face at a quip from Kuramochi, he felt another hand still his own.
“Miyuki...just leave me alone.” Nori slumped down even lower in his seat, glaring petulantly at his friend. Miyuki just ignored the whine and took the glass from his hand, replaced it with a bottle of water, and nodded at it.
“Drink. Then you and I are talking.” There were no smiles in Miyuki’s serious tone.
“Look, I’m fine. It’s just been a long day and I’d like it if I could have a couple...” He glanced at the table, “okay several drinks without my friend nagging me like my mother.” Nori tried to put some sternness back in his voice, but he could feel how it started to slur. He didn’t see any reaction from Miyuki, no break in the solemn look, so he sighed. Opening the bottle with a dejected glance at the alcohol, Nori began sipping it slowly. “Fine.”
“What did Shirasu do, Nori? There’s no way you’d be drinking like this, if it wasn’t for him.” There was genuine concern in Miyuki’s voice that actually matched the look on his face as well. “Should I have Youichi speak to him or something?”
There was no way he wanted Kuramochi to say anything to Kenjirou about their relationship. No way. Shaking his head rapidly, Nori groaned from the sudden pounding in his head. Drinking more of the water, he tried to reply. “No...there’s nothing wrong with either of us, so drop it Miyuki.” But he could tell, from the way Miyuki simply stared at him unblinkingly, that his reply was weak.
He sighed again. He’d been sighing more and more over the past few months. “I’m tired Miyuki.” Nori turned his head again, looking at Kenjirou, watching how the soft laughter built up in his shoulders before being heard. How the gentle smile he’d fallen for was visible, but not towards him at all. “Do you remember our first anniversary? I was so nervous about messing up the food that I called you at three in the morning, trying to convince you to cook instead for us.” He laughed slightly, barely a shake in his shoulders.
Miyuki nodded, his usual smirk on his face. “Oh, trust me. I absolutely remember the sheer panic in your voice and how tired I was after spending thirty minutes just for you to panic yourself back into cooking the meal yourself.” The smile then softened, “I also remember how happy both of you looked the next day, the secret smiles you tried to hide from the team, the way your hands just kept curling together.” Miyuki laughed, loud and proud, “it was disgusting, of course, but none of us had the heart to say a word to you. Either of you.”
Nori smiled, a bitter one that would come to be always present on his face for months to come. “It was beautiful. I thought I’d seen all of Kenjirou, but that night was special in ways I could never match up again.” His voice shook slightly as he pushed on, “but now? He hasn’t smiled at me for months. At least not really.”
He slammed the bottle down on the table, his hand tightening into a fist. “Neither of us have ever spoken that much, but the way we used to with each other? I’ve never met someone who understood me as much as he does. And yet, I can’t think of the last time where there was anything to our conversations.”
He looked at Miyuki, flinching slightly at the surprise on the other’s face, and then looked at Kenjirou again. That smile. He flinched harder.
“It just feels...over.”
– 8 months prior –
It was their anniversary. Eight years together, two of them married. Laying in bed beside the man of his dreams, Nori had never felt happier. A sappy smile took over much of his face, especially as he rolled over slightly to face Kenjirou. He muffled the snort that threatened to escape as he saw his passed out husband. Both of them had stayed up late busy with work, so by the time he’d fallen asleep, Kenjirou was still hard at work at his desk beside the bed. Nori had hoped that with it being their anniversary that maybe they’d have a bit of time for each other, but that didn’t seem likely.
Running a hand across Kenjirou’s cheek, he shifted closer until he was able to tuck himself under Kenjirou’s chin. For just this brief moment he wanted the time with his husband that he’d lost for months now. If he thought about it too much Nori was sure he’d start crying frustratedly. He knew their jobs were important, but sometimes it felt that Kenjirou was taking more on than he used to. Just to be away from home. To be away from him. But he knew that wasn’t fair, Kenjirou wasn’t alone in taking more work. Nori had been assigned more and more as he rose in status.
Biting back a groan, Nori closed his eyes harshly as he tried to fight the tears and annoyance. It was their anniversary, they had work during the day but he knew they had taken the evening off. A simple dinner out, and spend the rest of the night in. Nothing complicated, but maybe Nori would bring up the idea of getting a dog. Neither wanted children, but an animal? Maybe.
The day progressed, both Nori and Shirasu getting up soon to get ready for work. Sleepy kisses, and half-hearted hugs were exchanged before they both left. A hastily thrown I-love-you from both just as the front door shut. It was a normal day for both of them, even as they focussed on getting through it as fast as possible until dinner that night.
But then Nori got swamped, his boss unexpectedly requiring him to work late and meet a deadline much sooner than reasonable. So he texted Kenjirou, apologizing about the planned early dinner, but maybe a late one would work? He knew he’d be done with enough time for that!
Ken♥: Oh okay. I got really busy here anyway, maybe a rain check? It’s not that big of a deal. See you tonight. (4:30 PM)
His heart clenched. “Not that big of a deal?” he whispered to himself. It was a lowkey date, but it was still their anniversary right? He checked his phone, confirming the date, even though neither of them had ever forgotten before. He blinked back tears before placing his phone back down with more force than necessary. Facing his computer again he got back to work and refused to do anything else until he was done for the day.
That was the moment. The moment he knew, but refused to acknowledge for months. Uncoupling had begun.
Nori had no way of knowing that Kenjirou was staring angrily at his phone, willing himself to apologize and reword what he said. He hadn’t meant it that way, but he’d replied without thinking. Irrationally angry at their plans suddenly changing. It was a mistake. But he couldn’t bring himself to say anything more. Nori would be fine. He’d understand right?
– Present time –
Kenjirou glanced out the window, biting the inside of his cheek to prevent his sadness from leaking out. Nori had sat down in his car fifteen minutes prior, but the car was still there. He held onto the curtains tightly, staring out with as much focus as he could muster to try and read Nori’s face. Dropping the curtains, he stepped away from the window. Shutting his eyes firmly, he tried to build up the courage to step outside.
Shuffling towards the door, Kenjirou took a deep breath before slowly opening it. Regardless of everything that was happening, he still loved Nori. He hadn’t wanted any of this, but the way Nori had defeatedly thrust the papers at him, the bitter smile that was always visible on Nori’s face now and the “everything will be fine”, all of it had pummeled at his heart until he had no choice. He never wanted Nori to be anything but happy. And if that was no longer with him, Kenjirou would bow out. But if there was any chance, even a minor one, that maybe Nori still wanted him? He would sprint there. Hell, he would figure out how to fly there if necessary.
Making his way towards the car, he saw Nori with his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. Nori’s knuckles were a stark white. Nori’s eyes were glued to a photo of both of them that he’d taped to his dash back when he’d first gotten the car. Five years ago. Tapping the window lightly, Kenjirou waited until Nori turned his head to acknowledge him. The door lock clicked.
Opening the door, Kenjirou stepped closer. “Nori, is everything okay? You’ve just been sitting here for fifteen minutes.” When Nori looked at him again, he froze at the tears in Nori’s eyes. He wanted so bad to hug Nori, to hold him close and promise that none of this would have to go on. But he couldn’t. “Nori?”
“Are we doing the right thing Ken? I...I love you.”
“I love you too Nori.” He held out a hand to his husband, “come inside?” A gentle smile spread across his face as Nori shakily took the hand.
Maybe things aren’t over just yet.
--
Uncoupling theory states that a breaking of a relationship often blossoms from miscommunication. Sometimes talking can help prevent anything from starting.

Your fav daiya boys x sleepy reader?
I suck at pushing out requests 😭 you can judge my taste, but these three are just *chefs kiss*
Characters: Kawakami, Shunshin, Raichi
Tumblr media
Kawakami Norifumi
If there’s anything Kawakami loves more than music and fried chicken, it’s a drowsy you.
He thinks you're cute when you’re mumbling his name sleepily while you practically nap on his shoulder.
When you’d first started sleeping on him, he'd be a bit stiff and tense but would soon ease up because he wants you to be comfortable.
He’d rather take a punishment for not showing up somewhere than wake you if he’s being completely honest.
You Shunshin
He’s got a resting bitch face, let’s be honest about that.
So it’s quite the sight to see when his teammates walk to the dugout to see shun sitting with a straight face and a sleeping you in his lap.
He’s going to scold you for having a terrible sleeping schedule once you wake up, I’ll let you know that.
At times, mostly in private, he’ll fall asleep too.
Raichi Todoroki
If you’re tired around him, he’d probably try to hype you up because he does not and cannot stay still.
But if he would let you sleep on him he’d still be jittery and move a bit.
If you fall asleep on his shoulder that’s what really hurts because one) he can’t move or else he’ll cry for waking you up. And two) he can’t move.
He’ll blush a whole lot if you mumble his name ya know!

More Than a Game
Kawakami Norifumi/Narumiya Mei Fake Dating AU
Chapter 3
Rays of sunlight filtered through the blinds, stirring Mei from his sleep. It was much too early for him. Any other day, he’d be fine waking up at 7:30 in the morning to the sun shining in, but today was not one of those days. He’d barely slept. His mind was kept awake, running with all kinds of thoughts after his conversation with Kawakami the day before.
It had left him in such high spirits that his anger toward Kazuya had disintegrated into just about nothing. The fact that Kazuya had gone out by the time he returned to their apartment probably influenced his good mood. He wouldn’t have to hear Kazuya bug him about where he had gone or about the practice he’d been sent home from.
Groaning, Mei pulled the covers over his head and tried to bury himself into the darkness. He knew he’d have to face Kazuya soon, but he didn’t want to just yet. Mei just wanted to stay curled up in this little ball and sleep the day away, but he knew that was out of the picture as well because every time he thought of Kawakami, a stupid, idiotic grin would stretch across his face and his stomach would do flips.
Damn, I have it bad, he thought, but even though his words were bitter, he couldn’t suppress that stupid grin. His lips felt as though they were permanently stuck in that position.
“Hey, Mei!” A loud knock came from his bedroom door as Kazuya yelled in. “We have practice in two hours. Get up so you can eat beforehand.”
Did Mei say his grin was permanent? It was not. Just Kazuya’s mere presence was enough to dim it. Leave it to the catcher to burst his happy little bubble.
“Mei!”
“I’m up!” Mei groaned, but pulled the covers around his head tighter. “What are you, my mom?” Kazuya’s laugh was enough to get him moving. Throwing his hand to the side, Mei tossed off the covers. The sunlight assaulted his eyes as they tried to adjust, but he felt the brightness giving him a headache. “Ah… Stupid Kazuya…” Mei grumbled under his breath as he struggled getting to his feet. He couldn't believe he had forgotten about the day’s practice.
He felt even more exhausted now that he was standing, but the smell of food wafting into his room put a smile on his face. Although he was a pain, living with Kazuya did have its perks. Like breakfast and lunch… and well… dinner. Just cooking in general really. Mei was just glad that he didn’t have to attempt to make any food. He never actually tried to touch anything in the kitchen out of fear Kazuya would snap at him for doing something wrong.
Stifling a yawn, Mei walked out of his room and toward the kitchen. The delicious smell getting more and more enticing the closer he walked. “Smells good,” he mumbled, finally shuffling into the room. He moved toward the counter, leaned against it, and watched Kazuya do his magic. “Western food again?” He asked, eyebrow raised.
“Thought you’d enjoy it,” Kazuya mumbled, pouring the egg into the pan over the vegetables.
“I do love your omelets,” Mei nodded his approval. He watched the eggs cook then gazed up at Kazuya, who seemed keen on avoiding him. “Is this your way of apologizing for your behavior yesterday?”
“My-” Kazuya finally looked at him with a frown. Mei could see the retort on the tip of Kazuya’s tongue, but was shocked to see him hold back. “I already apologized yesterday.”
Mei smiled a little and hummed in response. The pout on Kazuya’s face proved Mei’s suspicions were correct. Kazuya must have really felt bad about what happened the day before. “Thanks,” Mei said, smile stretching a little wider.
Shrugging, Kazuya promptly ignored him as he transferred the first omelet to a dish and handed it to Mei. “You can eat first since you’re a beauty queen and take much too long to get ready for practices.”
“Screw you,” Mei scoffed, snatching the plate away carefully not to drop his food.
“Not likely,” he smirked, turning back to the pan to make his own food.
Mei sat down at the table and dug in. “You know,” he said between bites, “if you weren’t such a good cook, there’s no way I’d be able to put up with you.”
Kazuya sat down across from him. “Can you imagine if we actually did go to high school together?”
Thinking about it now, he frowned. Not just for him, but all of his teammates. “You really wouldn’t have fit in. I think the others would have killed you.”
Shrugging, Kazuya began eating his food. “You should have seen Kuramochi and me. It probably wouldn’t have looked much different to be honest, but we managed to work it out eventually. Same with a lot of my teammates actually.”
With a hum, Mei ate his food quickly. “Oh,” he looked up to see Kazuya looking confused, “Did you hear Kuramochi’s tryout went well?”
“Yeah…” Kazuya said, but then his eyes narrowed. “How did you know that?”
“Huh?” Mei hoped his fear of being caught didn’t show in his eyes.
“How did you know about Kuramochi’s tryout?” Skepticism laced his voice.
“Oh,” Mei wracked his brain for a quick answer. “Carlos!” His voice rose a little too high, and it made Kazuya’s gaze even harder. “I was talking to Carlos last night, and he brought it up in conversation.”
“Uh huh…” Kazuya’s eyes stayed on him as he continued to eat. Mei followed his lead, waiting for Kazuya to continue, but nothing came. “You should hurry up,” he said instead. “You need to get in the bathroom so I can get ready on time to leave.”
Mei was done eating, but he didn’t make a move to leave the table. “You’re being awfully nice today.”
“Is that a problem?” Kazuya’s glare pierced through him. “Just go get ready.”
With a huff, Mei stood and stalked out of the room. He made an effort to get ready quickly just to prove Kazuya wrong. He was lucky that practice was just a workout day, so he didn’t need all his gear. He was proud to say Kazuya only finished getting ready five minutes before him.
Their commute to practice was uneventful. Even the workouts themselves were surprisingly calm with the pitchers and catchers being separated to work on specifics their coaches thought they needed to improve on. It was hard, but that just told Mei he was putting his work in.
Though, he had to admit, it was hard to ignore the looks of concern from his teammates. Mei knew the reason, and he glanced over his shoulder to see how Kazuya was doing. Fine, he thought turning back to the weights in front of him.
He felt eyes burning into the side of his head, and turning to the side, he saw one of his teammates watching him carefully; everyone else decided against making eye contact with him. “What?” he blurted, ditching the weights and shifting his body to face them.
His teammate glanced briefly over at the catchers. “Are the two of you… good?” He asked Mei carefully, not knowing the blond well enough to know his reaction yet.
Releasing a huff, Mei turned back to the weights. “We’re fine,” he said, but it was annoying. Even others had picked up on how cautious Kazuya was being with him. Mei’s mouth had even fallen in shock, along with a few others, when Kazuya gave him a straight forward compliment. He’d even offered a few words of encouragement when Mei was struggling with a lift that he’d gone up in weight with.
He should have been relishing in these moments because Mei knew that any second Kazuya could flip back to his usual behaviors, but he just found the whole thing weird and annoying. He didn’t want Kazuya to tiptoe around him just because they had both lost their temper over something miniscule. Frowning slightly, Mei mentally took back his own thoughts. At the time, it wasn’t so small of an issue, but now that he had talked to Kawakami… A smile appeared on his lips. He’d have to talk to Kazuya later about how he was acting.
The rest of practice passed without a hitch. It was quiet and peaceful without the two’s bickering, and before Mei knew it, they were back in their apartment - showered and relaxing on the couch.
“What should we eat for dinner tonight?” Kazuya broke the silence without looking up from his phone.
Mei pried his eyes from the TV to look at his friend. “It’s your turn to pick.”
He watched Kazuya shrug. “Thought you’d like to pick tonight.”
That’s it, Mei thought, frown etched into his face. “I’ve had enough of this crap from you,” he said aloud. Kazuya’s eyes snapped up to meet his - shock and confusion clearly there. “Stop babying me!”
“I’m not!” Kazuya responded, breaking out of his stupor at the accusation. “I thought I’d be nice for once!”
“And it just happens to be the day after we snapped at each other at practice?” Mei narrowed his eyes.
“Come on, Mei,” Kazuya sighed. “Not everything is about you, you know?”
“Don’t try to deny it.” He refused to let Kazuya change the subject. “You’re never this nice. It’s weird and annoying. I want my Kazuya back.”
“Your Kazuya?” He smirked. “I didn’t know you cared so much.”
“Don’t,” Mei pointed at him. “You’re Kazuya. You are supposed to be an annoying prick at practice. That’s how you push people to do better, not those… those positive encouragements.” Kazuya rolled his eyes. “Who are you, and what have you done to Kazuya?”
“Dramatic much?” Kazuya looked back down at his phone. Mei promptly snatched it from his hands. “Hey!”
“Did you feel that guilty about the other night and yesterday that you think you have to make it up to me like this?” Mei asked. Kazuya pouted and looked away. Sighing, Mei tossed Kazuya’s phone back to him. “It’s your turn to choose what we eat. Besides,” he settled back into the couch; eyes on the TV, “I’ve already forgiven you.”
Mei could feel Kazuya staring at him, but he refused to look back. Kazuya was good at reading him, and Mei wasn’t sure if he’d be able to keep a straight face now that he was thinking about Kawakami again. He didn’t need Kazuya to go looking into his sudden forgiveness. They had only gotten into an argument like the one yesterday once before, and it had taken Mei over a week to forgive Kazuya.
“Fine,” Kazuya finally relented. “I’ll pick a place that delivers. I don’t feel like going out tonight.”
A small sigh of relief escaped Mei’s lips as the tension left his body. “Sounds good.”
