Tell Me I’m The Best
Tomie x wlw!Reader Drabble
I just want her y’know. Y’know?
TW for probably unhealthy relationship dynamics, possessiveness and jealousy. NSFW implied
You were sprawled in a stupidly large, comfortable bed, fluffy comforters almost devouring you. Music played softly over a radio placed on a dresser across the room, along with the soft hum of the bedrooms overhead fan slowly whirling in steady circles. The room was a mess, clothing and makeup haphazardly laying around. Several juicy gossip column magazines had been thrown around here and there. You had one such magazine in your hands, lazily reading the salacious dramatized versions of the latest love lives of the rich and famous.
You were in the room of your… well. It was hard to describe what you were. Girlfriend didn’t sound right, and lover sounded stupid. Situationship, maybe? Friends with benefits except you don’t see anyone else? There wasn’t a name for being gal pals with a creature who regularly twisted men to her will, driving them mad with desire and in turn often getting herself maimed in horrific ways.
She was a monster, countless murders were because of her. What she even was was never spoken about. You weren’t sure if even Tomie knew. You knew there were… others of her. She had been very displeased in disclosing that, as if you would run off to find another Tomie. Of course there wasn’t a chance you would ever do something stupid like that. For whatever reason she decided you would be who she let hold her at night when she was so sought after, you counted yourself as the luckiest son of a bitch in the world. Not saying she didn’t have her ‘quirks’.
“You’re really reading that when I’m standing right here?” A shrill voice broke the lull, sharp and commanding. Lowering the magazine to look at the source, the most beautiful woman you’ve ever seen was standing at the end of the bed with her hands on her hips. There she was… Tomie. The girl of everyone’s dreams. And boy, did she look pissed.
Her perfect face scrunched up as she glared down at you. You just stared at her for a moment before using your quick thinking to deduce why she was mad (this time). Ah, of course…you hadn’t watched her the second she came back into the room and dared to look elsewhere.
“Oh, sorry. Didn’t realize I wasn’t allowed to read now.” You responded sarcastically, clearly not phased by her attitude. You were used to it.
“You should be sorry. I’m standing here before you, and you don’t even look up? You’d rather have your nose buried in a stupid magazine?” She responded with a huff and a roll of her eyes. You bit back telling her it was her stupid magazine in the first place, “What could be so interesting, huh?”
After that, you were jostled as she flopped into the blankets next to you. You laughed as she had to shimmy & roll a bit to get over to you. She was wearing comfortable clothes, a simple tank top and shorts that showed off her pristine skin. It was always a wonder to you how she had no scars despite the wounds you had seen her with. She has no obvious marks on her skin besides the beauty mark near her eye. God, you loved that beauty mark. You loved all of her.
Tomie looked disdainfully at the trashy magazine before snaking her way into your arms, head on your chest as she got into a position so she could read with you as you held the magazine out for the both of you. She was cold, her hand resting on your stomach where your shirt had ridden up. You didn’t know if she did it on purpose, but she gently let the tips of her fingers slide under your shirt, just enough to rest her whole palm over your lower stomach. It gave you butterflies.
The two of you read through the magazines pages, laughing and gasping appropriately at the drama. You would both make comments (hers far crueler than yours) about people’s outfits. When it came to a page of particularly beautiful women in a fashion show, you feel Tomie’s eyes slide to you. This was definitely a test and you passed by quickly turning the page. Regardless, Tomie was tired of sharing your attention with the pictured women and she took the magazine out of your hands, propping herself up on her elbow besides you. She tossed it to join all of the other discarded items on the floor.
“Enough of those cheap girls. You don’t need to look at them when I’m here.” She was right. You looked over at her, opening up your arms a bit more to invite her further into your space. She leaned forwards, lips brushing yours. Her lipgloss smelled like cherries, her silky hair spilling towards you. Everything about her was intoxicating.
Your lips pressed into hers and she immediately sprung her trap. Sitting up, she pressed her palms against your shoulders to pin you to the mattress as she pulled away from the all too short kiss. Slinging her leg over your body, she sat on your stomach. It was a little uncomfortable but you were certainly not going to complain. After she was in position, she looked down at you triumphantly. If she was a spider, you were a willing fly walking into her web.
“There we go. Now you’re looking at me, as you should be.” Her manicured nails gently caressed your face as you were looking up at her in clear admiration. “Well? Are you going to say something or just stare at me?”
“What can I say besides what you already know?” That was a rhetorical question. You knew damn well she wanted to - needed to - hear you shower her in compliments. “That you’re gorgeous? More stunning than any of those girls in that magazine.. no, in any magazine.”
In response, Tomie hummed on top of you, her nails now grazing down your throat to run over your collar bone. It was also not missed how she lowered herself more onto you, giving a slight grind against you. That was encouragement if you’d ever had any.
“I’m so lucky to be here with you. You make my life as beautiful as you are.” You gently placed your hands on the sides of her thighs lovingly. Her lip twitched, her expression shifting minutely. She struggled hearing actual romantic sentiments. Being treated like a person and not an object of someone’s crazed obsession was a new experience she was trying to cope with. You tried to continue the sincere sweet talking,
“I mean it…I’ve never been with a girl like you-“
At the mention of other girls you had dated she snapped her hands down next to your head and got close to your face with her eyes hysterical. It had been blindingly fast, and the face she wore was chilling in an uncanny way, like it was something trying to be human but let it slip for a minute. It was small reminders like this that wouldn’t let you forget she was not human, not in the slightest.
“Tell me I’m the best you’ve ever had.” Her eyes were practically pinpricks as she bore them into yours. You shivered at the intensity of it, knowing the dangers of the woman pinning you down.
“You’re the best I’ve ever had.”
After your breathless response, she dove onto you in an aggressive kiss. Her hands had practically morphed to claws as she grasped the sides of your face, sliding up to your hair as she caught your lip in her teeth, looking you in the eyes with that same crazed gaze. You winced as blood broke the surface of your soft lip, her blunt teeth breaking the skin with ease. She slid her tongue over your lip, unabashedly tasting your blood. Letting out a soft groan, her hands tightened again before she was forcing your mouth open with her possessive tongue now rolling around yours. Grinding down onto your hips, she was much stronger than she looked. You were both getting worked up, your hands clutching her soft thighs now. Tomie unlatched herself from your face, still keeping pressure on your hips.
“Good girl. Of course I am.” She smiled proudly, smugness rolling off of her. The iron taste in your mouth of your own blood lingered as she swiped a finger over your ripped open bottom lip. She collected your blood on it & had the gall to look down at you with disgust like it was your fault. “Gross. Bleeding everywhere like that.” Despite that, she licked it off her finger anyways.
Even with her weight leaning on you, and you clearly trying to grind against her as well, she just sat there for a moment looking down at you. Her hair was perfect still, not a strand out of place.
“You’re the best I’ve had, too.” Tomie admitted. It was a rare genuine moment from her. Without letting you process that one (AKA say more sappy shit that made her feel something) she leaned forwards again to lock her intense eyes with you. She smiled and it was off, a little too smooth, too wide, to be normal. It morphed into a wolfish grin as her breath brushed against your mouth.
“And I don’t plan on letting you go any time soon.”

While the power fantasy offered by Persona 5, forcing someone to recognize and feel the magnitude of their misdeeds, is extremely satisfying, I think the game's justification falls flat when considered for even a second. The game tells us that Palaces develop as the result of distorted desires, and stealing someone's heart thus serves as a return to some mythical normality, as if the status quo isn't what produced these behaviors to begin with. Kaneshiro and Okumura are responding logically to the incentive structure provided by capitalism, and both explicitly fear returning to a prior state of deprivation. While the game condemns Kamoshida's actions, it shares the beliefs fuelling his behavior towards Ann - namely, that it is normal for adults to find teenagers attractive and that those teenagers are in turn capable of consenting to sex with the adults.
If anything, the distortion seems to be taking these commonly held beliefs beyond the societally acceptable point. Given that the protagonists allow their own ideals of justice to take them beyond the socially agreed upon rules to become criminals, this is troublesome. No wonder the grand finale comes in gaining the public's approval.
#persona 5#p5#i don't imagine these are new points but i've been thinking about them recently#like the fact that kamoshida's cognitive ann reciprocates his advances. how is that different from a kawakami romance from her perspective#anyway. persona game ends up reifying conservative social norms fork found in kitchen

thinking about how i love murakami’s writing & narrative style, the way he subtly catches the reader’s attention etc etc & and at the same time despise the way he writes women & sex scenes. thinking about how i’m starting to appreciate him while hating the misogyny in his writing, & simultaneously recognising how his culture & upbringing played a major role in forming his misogynistic views & also understanding that he's a man before he's a writer &c &c........
#i have a lot of Thoughts about murakami & his writing#he loves kawakami's feminist works but then again......the way he describes women & their bodies....& also the bland sex scenes.......#the way his limited knowledge (or lack thereof) of female anatomy really shines through.......#but then again. he's rich. famous. the most celebrated writer of japan. brought up amidst the japanese patriarchal society#& hugely male-centric culture. i get why he is the way he is (like 90% of the japanese male population -- not only japanese#-- one could say global population -- except he has a remarkable imagination & a somewhat different approach to the mundane)#so i don't really. side w either those who hate murakami or are obsessed w him.#i love & enjoy his work while simultaneously retaining the ability to recognise & call him out on his misogyny.#<- one reason why i respect & admire makeo kawakami#one should read her interview w murakami where she calls him out on his misogyny & murakami tries to deflect her (valid) points#on a lighter note though. “her breasts breasted breastily” is a phrase i was genuinely prepared to read in a murakami novel &#was surprised when i was unable to find it#anyway. needed to get this out of my system because damn i have some mixed feelings abt this man

random thought of the day
We've all wondered what Yorozuya would be like if Gintoki switched places with Takasugi. Now, I raise you this: Imagine if Kagura and Shinpachi replaced Matako and Bansai in the Kiheitai, and vice versa for the Yorozuya.
Imagine Kagura utilizing her Yato nature and being an absolute unit, but Takasugi can't get her to do shit unless he feeds her an enormous amount of food.
Imagine Shinpachi being all-calm and the voice of reason, earning Takasugi's favor, only to instantly lose it the minute he walks into his room full of Otsu merch.
Honorable mention: Imagine Takasugi acquiring Sadaharu. Imagine how chaotic it'd be. Imagine him taking Sadaharu to space walks with Amanto envoys, just because Kagura conveniently forgot she promised to take care of him.
Imagine Bansai NEVER understanding Gin's jokes and pop culture references. Him being so eager to partake in his shenanigans and finding him magnificent, while not fully getting what his all about.
Imagine Matako getting Stockholm Syndrome after Benizakura and filling Gin's room with Takasugi merch while he is having a breakdown.

This one is extremely strange, so strange that I think I must have got it wrong somehow? Here's a line from Akechi's Black Mask navigation. Yeah, you know which one this is going to be:
Here's the English audio:
Is it me, or is something a little... off, here? Look at the portrait. Doesn't he look a little... calm? Downbeat, even?
Here's another use of the same portrait. This is not a laughing statement:
Akechi has a laughing navigator portrait, of course:
it's okay goro we know you're very normal
So we've got a mismatch between the portrait and the English line. Let's have a listen to the Japanese audio:
They're a bit... different? He's not laughing, he's not gloating. Just "Huh, I guess that was a thing that happened..."
So what's going on here?
translation time
Akechi 敵1体逃走!仲間に見捨てられたようだね。 teki ittai tousou! nakama ni misuterareta you da ne This one just got betrayed by its teammate! Ha, imagine how that feels! [lit. One enemy fled! Looks like this one was abandoned by its friend, huh?] One more enemy out of the way! So this last one got dumped by its friend, huh?
Let's talk about 見捨てる misuteru—"to abandon". misuteru pops up regularly in the P5R script. It comes up when someone's being ditched, bailed on, forsaken by God—generally left behind: if your friends run out on you, you are being misuterued.
Are there any contexts where misuteru can mean betray? Sure. If you leave a friend held hostage to die, the shadow will accuse you of misuteruing them. nakama o misuteru is used consistently here, similarly to Akechi's line above—"you betrayed your friend by leaving them to die".
Here's Kawakami, at the end of her confidant, resolving to never abandon any of her students again:
Kawakami でも、これからは君のことも守るよ。教師として、絶対、見捨てたりしないから。 demo, kore kara wa kimi no koto mo mamoru yo. kyoushi toshite, zettai, misutetari shinai kara. But from now on, I'm going to protect you too. As your teacher, I will never betray you.
What does Kawakami do? She tries to help her student Takase, but in the end abandons him; she believes she betrayed him to his death. But she betrayed him by giving up on him; by abandoning him. She misuterued him.
Here's Futaba, during her apology to Joker for dumping him at the start of Maruki's reality:
Futaba てかむしろ怒るだろ!{F1 82}のこと見捨てたんだぞ!? te ka mushiro okoru daro! <given name> no koto misuteta n da zo!? Why wouldn't you be!? I betrayed you! Don't you get that!?
Under Maruki's influence, Futaba loses herself in her happy family life, and leaves Joker to handle things essentially alone. Futaba betrays Joker by abandoning him; she misuterus him.
how does akechi use misuteru?
Besides the usage above, Akechi has two other uses of misuteru in P5. One is in his deleted Mementos mission from the third semester:
Akechi 君たちのことだしこういう人間は見捨てておけないだろう? kimi-tachi no koto da shi kou iu ningen wa misutete okenai darou? Well, considering what you and your group do, I imagine you could hardly abandon him to his fate...
This doesn't mean "betray". There's no relationship between Joker and the mission target—there's no betrayal. There's just an abandoning—a refusal to help.
Akechi やっぱり馬鹿は⋯お前らだ。見捨てて行けば、よかったのに⋯ yappari baka wa... omaera da. misutete ikeba, yokatta no ni... The real fools... are you guys. You should have just abandoned me here a long time ago... [lit. the real fools... are you guys. if only you'd [just] abandoned me here...]
Now this line is a doozy. Look at that use of misuteru here; in vanilla, it was his only use of this word. Akechi has just got done explaining that being unwanted and cast aside is the thing he fears most of all. He has shaped his life around it. He's done murder for it. Everything he's become, he became, at base, because he was abandoned—because he was misuterued.
It's here, at the very end, that he turns his back on that. This unwanted child who has killed to be wanted—he looks at Joker and the Phantom Thieves on the other side of the engine room shutters, people who've proved that they value him and want him around, for himself. And he says to them—no; you're idiots; why didn't you abandon me, like everyone else has? He says to them, I won't let you die here, and I care about that more than I care about being abandoned.
Everything about Akechi is resolving at this moment. He transcends his obsession, fear and trauma. And that word misuteru is doing a ton of heavy lifting—because if Akechi can't have what he wants, then he'll reject it. He makes a free choice, for once in his life.
This moment influences him for the whole of the third semester. And when we hear him say misuteru later on, we should remember this. When black mask navigator Akechi notes the Shadow being abandoned to its fate, he isn't laughing about it; he's thinking about it. In his head, he isn't the betrayer, thinking of Joker in the interrogation room; he is the betrayed, being left behind by everyone he ever hoped would care about him. He's being left behind behind that engine room door.
This line as localised, taken in isolation, can transform your reading of Akechi's character and motives—which is why it's so important to look at the whole of canon, and not single cherrypicked lines. Step forward, "I hate you"
unhinged ranting
Lemme be clear here: this line has always pissed me off for its inconsistency. Akechi reacts against the engine room ending in the third semester, sure. Almost the first thing he does is to rub that deal they made in Joker's face. He's desperate not to be viewed as that pitiful object on the floor. He's desperate to keep up walls between himself and the others—for whatever reason.
But after 1/2, he doesn't really gloat about what he's done. He doesn't argue with Futaba's threat to him on 1/11—"if you ever betray us again, we'll make sure you regret it."; he just agrees to her terms, which he knows are well deserved. He's not walking around like "lol, I got you arrested and tried to murder y'all and there was that whole thing"; even unhinged combat Akechi doesn't do that. Except for this one line. When he suddenly reveals that, deep down, he thinks the whole thing was hilarious.
Except he didn't do that at all. If he did, I think he'd find the others tolerated him a lot less. And he's already walking a knife edge with many of them.
What was the translator's brief here? Honestly, I have no idea. Did they even have access to the original audio? Did they have time to play it? Did Atlus give them a brief to make this guy just as crazy insane as possible?—because we know they told Akechi's JP VA, Soichiro Hoshi, to underplay it.
Either way, I don't think the line as localised (and as delivered, excellently, by Robbie Daymond) corresponds to the Japanese audio. traduttore, traditore—translators are traitors. Even me

I was gonna just do a bunch of tags, but it’s getting a bit long, so it’s easier to just write out all my ideas normally.
We have two options available for us-
1. Tomie can’t be permanently killed by the Death Note
or
2. When her name is written down, it kills a Tomie
So if you had Tomie standing right in front of you and you wrote her name down, one of the multiple Tomies across Japan dies, but not necessarily the one standing right there.
And depending on if you specify a cause of death, more Tomies can appear. If she is dismembered in any way, those parts grow back into another Tomie. If you specify a death involving fire, she stays down permanently and no more are created.
I’m not sure about the standard heart attack, though. Maybe it just wouldn’t have any effect? Or she dies and just gets better?
I hope this is what you meant, because I’m loving this idea now.
So friendos I happen to be in control of a blog for a certain Junji ito Femme Fatale..
anybody wanna help kind of figure out a potential Death Note Verse for her? or in general want to interact with with her? I feel like she’d be hilarious there
#I’m imagining light trying to figure out how in the hell this lady’s still alive#he’s written her name down like 30 times and he knows he spelled/wrote it right#and in the meantime all of them are hunting him down#one day light opens the door to his house#and there’s an army of women that all look exactly alike just staring at him#tomie kawakami#junji ito#death note

One More Hour.

*~*~*~*
No matter how much time passes, Megumi's dorm room remains unchanged in appearance and function.
The door glides open effortlessly unless Megumi has locked it for the night or day.
The rear wall of his room boasts fully stocked bookshelves, primarily filled with history books and nonfiction literature. This tends to annoy you, as reading any of them inevitably leads to immediate boredom-induced sleep. Once, you suggested that Megumi should embrace more imaginative reads, prompting him to respond with a half-serious glare that may have been annoyance or simply playful teasing, a common occurrence when the two of you are alone.
Megumi sleeps on a single futon, always left in a disheveled state, which is rather peculiar considering his typically organized nature. Even you occasionally make your bed, unless you're too tired in the mornings. However, Megumi consistently leaves his futon untidy, with stacks of nonfiction books near his pillow, as is his custom.
You always ponder silently, wondering if he keeps such boring books near his bedside so he can fall asleep faster, a mischievous smile forming within.
In the far corner of his dorm room sits his desk, always facing away from you. On it, you'll find Megumi's trusty laptop, open notebooks filled with scattered ideas, a collection of books, a handful of succulents and bonsai seedlings, and if you're fortunate, his Nintendo Switch. It's likely occupied by the perpetual loading screen of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Omori, or Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Although he claims to play these games solely to appease your persistent recommendations, deep down you suspect he genuinely enjoys them. Of course, if you were to ever voice this suspicion, he wouldn't hesitate to sell his beloved Nintendo Switch on some online auction platform right before your eyes, subjecting you to a rather cruel spectacle.
However, he would undoubtedly retract his decision at the last possible moment. Megumi may possess various traits, but intentionally causing you emotional pain out of spite is certainly not one of them.
“‘Gumi, what’s your favorite type of chocolate?”
At your question, Megumi stares at you like you have grown a second face like Tomie Kawakami. Surely to him, you’re also just as pretty right, minus the second face thing? You’ll have to put it on your list of impulsive things to ask him, physically writing it down or otherwise.
In your hands is the heart-shaped box he had just given to you as a supposed reward for not having talked his ears off. Along with not having thrown his gift, a container of some homemade strawberry cake that you made from a boxed mix, that you would never admit, at him when he inevitably made some teasing quip. You aren’t known for being exactly willing to let insults from fellow peas in your pod pass without them hammering back. It is just what you do.
He may avoid the question, but at least he will still be chained down to sitting with you on the floor if you keep on pouting with every action he takes.
As always, acting like he is being held hostage in his own dorm room, he shuffles from side to side instead of responding. He’s faking being nervous again. Even if you wanted to, you could never actually hurt Megumi.
He looks at the floor, feigning confusion and fear.
You sigh.
There is a slight smirk that appears on his face as you do so.
He can be such a dick sometimes, intentionally or not, although him being the former is quite rare, he only does it with you. The duality of such a foreign species of a man called Megumi Fushiguro, you guess.
“Cherry, of course.” Of course. “I just love it. You should know that. Bec-”
Immediately, your hand slaps over his mouth like its life depends on it.
“Don’t you dare, everyone knows I hate cherry-flavored things!”
Like he was drowning, Megumi acts out a struggle and as soon as your hand is off, he takes in deep breaths, inhaling in and out quickly like you had single-handedly made him see the heavens itself. He is strange. But so are you.
So, against your better judgment, you throw your copy of Crime and Punishment, all 700 pages of it, at him, hitting his forehead with a loud slamming sound erupting from the attack.
“Ow!” Megumi exclaims, rubbing the sore spot with his hands. Maybe your actions were over the top? Yet, then again, so was his.
You cross your arms. “Deserved.”
“I can take away that rabbit plush I gave you last week.”
“You wouldn’t dare, Fushiguro.”
“I would. You’re lucky, though. I don’t usually tease anyone aside from you.”
That’s true. Megumi is stoic in all matters, from cooking to reading. That is, aside from matters where a closed door and you are involved. It is like he becomes an entirely different person, you heavily, heavily doubt Yuji would believe you if you told him.
Even on dates, he is never this expressive. If anything, he is a well-meaning but cold Prince Charming whenever the general public has eyes on him. If only that were true.
“But really, what is your favorite type of chocolate?”
His smirk disappears, replaced with a thoughtful expression.
“Hmm.” Perhaps the all-powerful concussion made him go back to normal? That would make sense. “Coffee, maybe.”
“Huh? Why, to still satisfy your caffeine addiction?”
“Goes well with ginger.”
“What?”
It is a hard-to-stomach image that appears in your head; Megumi eating Shogayaki for breakfast with black coffee along with coffee-flavored chocolates on the side. It makes you sick just thinking about it. If that vision ever became an unfortunate reality, you could imagine yourself looking at the scene in pure horror.
He isn’t teasing you if his expression tells you anything.
He’s serious.
“They aren’t that sweet either.” He really is serious. “You know I don’t like sweet side dishes. Ginger and coffee are a good combination.”
He really is fucking serious.
“Get out, Megumi.”
“...This is my-”
“Argh! Don’t care! Get out!”

hi. ive never played persona in my life and started your failteacher comic bc i had no idea it was an AU and now im obsessed. your writing is so funny but im also so so invested in these two women please
HDBHBHJ THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!! i'm glad you can still enjoy it for the Women Mess 🥰
also this kind of message is so funny to me because i always try to imagine what it would be like ... to read without playing the source... im like do people even know about toriumi's beautiful mind... like that metchet was Quoting Her here
i've had people be surprised when i post caps of things she actually says bc theyre like . "i thought you made that up / exaggerated it". and i have to be like no if anything failteacher AU isako has calmed DOWN compared to where she used to be (<- she was inflicted with the curse of self awareness by her social link)
DO MY READERS EVEN KNOW HER BEAUTIFUL ISMS!!!!!!
DO THEY KNOW HER SMILE :)
^DONT TAKE THAT TONE WITH ME, TEACH.... I HATE IT HERE
i thjink she's the funniest bitch in persona 3 i would die for her. and in my opinion kawakami's Temperance is like the best link in persona 5. im very glad to marry the two (MARRIAGE? 😳😳) but i really do love imagining what it's like without background knowledge... . . ..
actually on stream the other day i roughly went over kawakami's situation/why she's doing the things shes doing and at that time my chat was like . i think entirely people who havent played p5. the live reaction to kawakami's nightmare was so funny HDHBJB the collective "😧"
all will be revealed eventually in the comic though so my non-persona players won't go without context forever.... smiles sweetly. she has to reveal the lore to toriumi eventually (blows them a kiss) so i think it's enjoyable with or without playing the games 😌
^she said this in 2009 she doesn't even Know how much money she's gonna need ...

YAHOO!! this just reminds me i need to get back into junji itos stuff :O i got a physical copy of uzumaki last year; loved it!! gotta reread it soon and dive into the other stuff !!! i admit i haven't read tomie's bits yet, my only info/exposure to her is based around how she was in the anime adaptations, an infodump from a friend ab 3-4 years ago, and a character wiki so i apologize in advance for any inaccurates/misunderstandings on how the abilities work! other than that, i hope you enjoy!
Im not even going to lie I think this dude would think it's a little amusing how people will literally commit dozens of crimes just for you to look their way
i personally dont think he would be affected by your natural seduction thing, mostly in part due to him not being a human, he still thinks your pretty!
he probably calls you doll or some other variation of it because of your appearance
that said lj does have a bit of a jealousy problem, even without a partner that automatically charms everyone around them. bro has abandonment issues and doesnt like sharing at all. sure, hell try to look past it but he hates the way other people fawn and swoon! depending on what kind of reader we're going with, say, one that also k(r)ills for one reason or another he'll *try* to keep it together but boy, does it get hard when you feed into the people's insanity
but that's probably a whole thing for another post since you specified abilities :O!! not sure if you wanted the s/o to fully lean into it or do something else
so some other ideas to fill the post !
first time he sees you die he will freak out
like
he doesnt know youll come back, and as morbid and horrible sounds he'd probably hang on to your corpse until you just
pop back
funny joke haha thing imagine he's lamenting over you and you just. pop back up all "aww you love me :3??"
love little haha funny shit like that
anyways
overall it doesnt mix well with his jealousy and stuff, he doesnt like sharing! nope, not at all
but perhaps you can win him over with some much needed affection and a lotta reassurance
in several ways
winks
god no because
idk
my brain is melting as we speak im so sorry

Mizumura Family Members
This is a list and summary of some ocs who'll eventually appear in the Rewrite! They're a yakuza group who have Oceanic Flames/Dying Will Flames of the Ocean! They're an antagonistic group to the Vongola Group! Info under cut!
Hideko Mizumura - The Ocean Flame/Sky equivalent. She's the "princess" of her school, the head of the student council, and more. On the outside and from reputation, she is perfect in every way. In reality, she's a bitch. All the positive things she does are for negative reasons. For example: She upholds a zero tolerance bullying policy! Because if you're going to be bullied in her school, it'll be by her or one of her guardians. She's like Hibari in the sense she sees her school as her territory, so she doesn't tolerate it when she feels people are encroaching on her territory. By the end of the arc, she'll reflect a lot on herself and her actions, but doesn't fully redeem herself right away.
Miyu Saito - The Tsunami Flame/Storm equivalent. With a cute, kogal gyaru look and generally bubbly personality towards her fellow students all while following the "princess" around, Miyu is viewed as Hideko's "pet". In reality, she's her lover and right hand woman. While her hobbies and passions lie in fashion and beach related things, her pride rests in being extremely loyal and ruthless for her boss/girlfriend. If Hideko says the word, Miyu will heed her call. However their relationship at the start of the arc is very one sided and Miyu is very insecure about that fact. Miyu also has trichotillomania, resulting in her preferring to have her actual hair really short and wear wigs.
Jun Kanzaki - The Abyss Flame/Cloud equivalent. She's deemed the oddest of the guardian group and seen as a bit of a social outcast. She doesn't really care though, heavily preferring to be alone. The Abyss Flame is a very eccentric artist who'll do anything for her art. Aesthetically she's very gothic, but like with a lot of ocean themes. Out of the group, she's the most disillusioned with Hideko, being able to see their leader for all her faults and flaws. However, this doesn't make her any less loyal to her.
Megumi Kawakami- The Tide Flame/ Rain equivalent. The award winning head of the swim team at Midori Middle and one of Hideko's best friends. She's beloved by her fellow students! Except the swim team members that don't hold up to her expectations. She's known for making them train much harder and longer than those she deems to be doing well, often not even letting them rest. That's all she has for now.
Ren Muto - The Sea Flame/Sun equivalent. Head of the volleyball team, when not in season she pursues track. Much like the Tide flame, she treats certain teammates cruelly. But again because she's popular everywhere else in the school, no one speaks up. And that's about all I have for her right now outside of her going to be very tomboyish aesthetically.
Shinju Shimizu - The Reef Flame/Mist equivalent. Another one without much to her. However she does have a colorful, coral inspired Decora Kei look to her and she's an underclassman to the others. Being a first year while I imagine the thus mentioned thus far are 2nd or 3rd years. She also has a one sided crush on the equivalent to the Lightning Guardian who I'll do next.
Tomoko Watanabe - The Current Flame/ Lightning Equivalent! She too, like the Reef, is an underclassman. She's known for being really smart and the top of her class though. However, she's completely obsessed with and idolizes Hideko. As a result, whatever info Miyu doesn't learn through rumor mills, the Current Guardian will be the one to learn then instantly bring to Hideko. At the end of the arc, she's the most bitter towards the Vongola group simply because they managed to win against Hideko.
Yumi Maekawa- The Arctic Flame/ Snow equivalent. She, all and all, is a complete WIP as I have nothing for her. All I have is literally just she's loyal to Hideko like the others she's an antagonist lol. Part of why she’s such a WIP in my Snow Flame lore is still mostly a WIP.

Doodle & Sketches Dump 2: Royal Trio in my Wildcard Kawakami AU
I have a wildcard Kawakami AU and I sketched the Royal Trio in the Au for 2/2!
Maruki is one of the OG Phantom thieves, joined in the first palace! His Arcana is Emperor, Codename Doctor, and I'm still torn between making his Persona Azathoth or Adam Kadmon
Rumi is the Target for the Fourth palace and the fourth party member~ Her Arcana is Hermit, Codename Knight, and her Persona is either Eva or Marie Antoinette. She's the Shiho & Kasumi of this au!
Kasumi/Sumire stands in for Maruki. She's Rumi's Psychiatrist who, by chance, got hired by Shujin as a counselor. The rest of the story, including the third semester, is still being workshopped
Akechi stands in for Sae! Their roles are the only few who are truly swapped. His personality leans more toward his 3rd-semester self. I like to imagine he and this au's Sae have somewhat of a mentor/student relationship, even though they're just colleagues? Cue Akechi dragging Sae to Leblanc because she hasn't eaten lunch.
The unrecognizable blob is Akiren. Who, in truth, I'm still debating whether to put into Kawakami's role or Maruki's role. I imagine he's a laid-back, cool teacher. The kind who seems to joke around a lot but secretly cares a lot about his job.
Honest to god I want to develop this AU further because I have sooo many harebrained gag ideas like Rumi still beating Takuto's hand while she was recovering in the hospital, and breaking his hand while she's at it.
Would anyone be interested in hearing about this au?
#persona 5 royal#persona 5 au#takuto maruki#goro akechi#akira kurusu#ren amamiya#last name suggestions for Rumi are welcomed~

My Top 5 Best Books of 2023
Scrolling through bookstagram's endless reels of folks bemoaning the state of readerly types - new publications are disposable crap, everyone else is reading too much, etc - it might seem like 2023 was a terrible year for books. But, of all my longlists, this one was the longest, and the one I had the most trouble cutting down to only six. I read 119 books in 2023 (you can read my round-up of my five worst here), and here are my five favourites. Every single one of these books deserves to top your tbr for 2024.
Read the post on my blog!
Honourable Mention: Yellowface - R. F. Kuang
R.F. Kuang has figured out how to use irony and its a good look on her. Kuang’s political messaging is great — I particularly enjoyed her depiction of the publishing industry’s white fragility as deeply stupid — but we already knew that. I would expect nothing less from the author of Babel. The think that elevates Yellowface in particular is Kuang’s self-awareness in depicting Athena, the Asian writer whose novel the protagonist steals, as a talented literary wunderkind, but also as frustrating and not necessarily innocent in the problem of who is allow to tell ethically-loaded stories. I’m definitely looking forwards to her next project.
Fifth Place: Small Worlds - Caleb Azumah Nelson
This is the diverse romance novel you’ve been looking for. This is the inspiring hopepunk novel you’ve been looking for. This is the insightful and emotional coming-of-age novel you’ve been looking for. Small Worlds is all the more comforting and heart-warming because it is primarily about persistence and joy in the face of crushing personal failure and devastating systemic violence. Caleb Azumh Nelson’s motif of relationships in which both partners must break up in order to become the kind of people who can be in a long-term relationship with each other is a kind of romance arc I unexpectedly love. This entry in particular gets extra credit for its incredibly good audiobook adaptation. The audiobook is narrated by the author, whose southeast London accent and obvious emotional connection to novel make it the ideal way to read.
Fourth Place: Breasts and Eggs - Mieko Kawakami
After a couple of truly miserable memoirs this year I declared that I simply did not want to hear writers talk about motherhood. I spoke too soon because then I read this. Breasts and Eggs is in incredible reflection on being a woman that has something to offer if you love being a woman, if you hate it, or if you feel ambivalent about it. I don’t like children and can’t imagine ever wanting one — to the point that I find the endless angsting about the conflict between writing and motherhood faintly nauseating — but I found that this was the first book about being a mother that had something interesting to say even for people who never want to be mothers. Kawakami’s novel-in-translation has (for the anglophone reader) a sense of strangeness both in form and content. The book’s approach to gender and family is often intimately familiar, but just as often introduces a perspective that is deeply strange to a western reader, provoking us to think about our own assumptions about the importance of family. I particularly liked the scene in which protagonist Natsu visits a bath house and encounters a woman in a relationship with a trans man in the female section of the bath. Natsu struggles through a long thought process of whether she ought to be offended or not. Would she be similarly offended if she encountered cis lesbian PDA?
Third Place: Penance - Eliza Clark
For me, Penance was intensely personal, like looking back on my own teenagerhood. I also grew up as a deeply strange child, something that was immediately recognized by the other children. That feeling of somehow being a different species from other kids, not doing anything right and not understanding how it is wrong, is something that this novel absolutely nails. That might be a strange association for a true crime story about a horrible schoolgirl murder. This is the dramatic extension of what could happen to five people who were once very lonely little girls, and I think reading too much into the ‘how could they do something like this?’ of it all is missing the forest for the trees and playing into the true crime gaze that the book criticizes. Clark is interested both in true crime that dehumanizes its subject matter, and true crime the aspires to humanize and platform them. Is it any more ethical to demand access to someone’s life out of love?
Second Place: He Who Drowned the World - Shelley Parker-Chan
Shelley Parker-Chan’s The Radiant Emperor duology is the best queer fantasy series out there. Period. He Who Drowned the World takes its engagement with gender and sexuality to another level. At least for me, there is something much more meaningful and impactful to the theme of gender as something performed in spite of difficulties, distrust, and lack of acknowledgement. Parker-Chan understands that gender is often unpleasant or even hateful. This isn’t a book for a brave new utopia where every bra fits on the first try, it’s for the present, where the wrong bra gives you a fibrous lump. If She Who Became the Sun was Zhu embracing her gender, the sequel is about Ouyang’s often deeply upsetting ability to accept his. His hatred of any femininity, first and foremost his own, isn’t an easy read, but I found there was something incredibly resonant in it to my own ambivalent feelings towards femininity. No one else depicts self-hatred this well.
First Place: Chain-Gang All-Stars - Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
As soon as I finished Chain-Gang All-Stars I knew it would be my book of the year. I read a lot of great books but this blew every single one of them out the water. It is Gladiator by way of The Shawshank Redemption by way of professional wrestling. It’s the scifi sequel to The New Jim Crow and Ava DuVernay’s 13th. It’s the best love story of the year. Chain-Gang All-Stars is an exploration of the humanity of inmates, who, in this world, are objectified both due to their involvement in the criminal justice system (as in ours) and from the gaze of sports and reality entertainment. It’s hard to decide which aspect of this book is most technically impressive. I usually don’t like when a political novel tries to comment on too many different issues, but this book deftly balances deep and effective discussions on a huge range of topics. I especially appreciated its engagement with an inmates’ personal feelings of guilt and culpability within a carceral system that doesn’t care at all about remediating the harm they have caused. This deft political messaging is combined with an insightful depiction of the ambivalent success of professional athletes, multidimensional characters, and a touching romance. My favourite part of the book was how effectively it traps the reader. I understand and agree with all the condemnations of the exploitation inherent to entertainment in watching primarily BIPOC athletes destroy their health (this is about wrestling but also boxing and American football), but I still found myself thinking about just how incredible this book would be as a TV series. The use of complicity as a theme is unparalleled.

what are your favorite authors? and which ones you would consider the essentials for anyone interested in start writing?
my favorite authors are, in no particular order but rather how important they have been to my writing:
gillian flynn. all her books play so expertly with genre, unreliable narrator and tapping into generational and contemporary anxieties. she's got such a subtle hand as she arranges everything into position, and a really pleasant writing style.
mieko kawakami. i just love everything about how she writes loneliness, alienation and lingering in the moments of the day.
sayaka murata. she's soooo. god. i love her short stories. i hope more get translated soon.
constance debré, éduoard louis, annie ernaux. i clump these three together because they're approaching class and short terse non-fiction from different angles but all do it in really riveting ways.
tamsyn muir. because it's just a wild fun ride. like. it's a treat to read her books. she made me feel less hung-up about perfect worldbuilding.
also, no less honorable mentions: sally rooney, elena ferrante, carmen maria machado, arkady martine, louise glück.
as for essentials, that's a hard one. i'm a firm believer in building your own personal canon of "books that make me wanna write/writers whose style i want to subliminate into my own", but i'm also a genuine lover of creative writing books, so a short list of those would be:
imaginative writing, janet burroway. (writing to me is so much about a practice, exercises, warm-ups, and burroway really digs into that.) writing down the bones, natalie goldberg. (classic. though i don't turn to this a lot anymore it's still a staple.) reading like a writer, francine prose. (can't be a writer without reading and prose breaks down the way of reading very well.) refuse to be done, matt bell. (bit of a step up. how to write a novel in three drafts, essentially. genuinely the most helpful one i've read in years, i've leaned on it so much for finishing my novel.) and this is more later-stage, but it's also a good reality check for anyone wanting to go professional: before and after the book deal, courtney maum.
#ask meadows anything#lately i've mostly been reading editing books and more of the latter end of how to finish things#so sometimes i feel a bit out of touch with inspirational starters#the best advice is as always to find a creative writing circle or workshop for beginners#it makes a massive inspirational difference#that said i also know how intimidating those are so i'm always pro experimenting and playing at home#AND JOURNALING#journaling is such a good habit for writing in general#look up morning pages and try those out too#automatic writing is like the savior of my writing

You know what would be fun? Wanko's apparent problem is a "lack of talent". So what would happen if she enrolled into Ryozanpaku from History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi where they basically tortured him into becoming a splendid Martial Artist. Wanko returns from there and just bodies everyone no problem XD And I can imagine Majikoi Principal being buddies with Elder.
While that would be a neat head cannon and it is basically what the principal did with the apitude test to see if wanko could even start training. It both misses the point of Kazuko's entire story arc and the point of what that "lack of tallent" means Kazuko has a fundemental limit as to what she can acomplish within the world of Majikoi's martial arts (basically she cant do the shit that is just basically magic). No amount of pushing her limits will ever bear results further than what the average person is capable of, and its not she cant be a tallented martial artist she already is. She just can never challage Momoyo her sister to any real degree and be the rival to her to push Momoyo to be better.
In the agave route we see that Lu the training assistant at the Kawakami temple was a nobody with no training but had that natural tallent to push beyond the standard. Beings in that universe like Momoyo, Shakadou, and Tatsuko arent common they just stand out easily. Even Yukie and Ageha have to keep training to keep up their skills to stay on par with those three.
