He definitely loves gift giving. Have you seen how he treats his siblings? Buying them anything and everything any chance he gets. He's the exact same way with you. Tartaglia adores showering you with gifts. No matter the price he'll buy it without a second thought. Although it can be a little uncomfortable at times, when you think about the amount of mora being spent on you, but you know this is just his way of letting you know he cares <3

His favorite thing to gift you is clothing! He likes picking out outfits for you to wear, insisting on having a little fashion show just for the two of you. He just thinks you're so cute in the clothes he picks out for you :) any time there's an event you both have to attend you can be certain there will be a brand new outfit waiting for you on your bed.

Besides gift giving, he's also big with physical touch. Ajax is quite a control freak, constantly feeling the need to have full control over any situation. This means he needs to be touching you in some way at all times, to tell you (and himself) that you're safe. No matter where you are, he will have his arm wrapped around you or be holding onto your hand.

He's also just a very touchy person! Even before you started dating there was many pats on the back and hands on your shoulder. He just doesn't have boundaries that most people have, and doesn't realize he doesn't have them. You find it very endearing when he grabs hold of you without even realizing.

Wanderer

He has a hard time expressing his feelings for you so acts of service is his favorite. When he isn't doing something to purposefully make your life harder, because let's be honest, his favorite thing in the world is to irritate you, he does what he can to make every other part of it easier. Any time he comes over he'll bring food for you to have dinner with him, always being sure to bring your favorite, even if he doesn't like it.

If you're crammed with work or school and leave your place unattended to become dirty, and he comes over? He'll go on and on about how messy and unorganized you are and how if HE were living with you he'd never let it get like this. Complaining about the state of the room and how miserable it's making him, all while throwing away the trash, putting up clothes, and organizing your things. You notice but choose to keep it to yourself <3

Something as equally important to him is quality time. Scara can get very lonely, very quickly, without you. You don't even need to be talking, in fact he quite enjoys the silence, just being in the presence of his love is enough to keep him at peace. Although he prefers it to just be the two of you, no matter where he's at, it's much more bearable with you around.

He really enjoys taking naps with you, although what you're unaware of, is that it's rare that he actually sleeps. He will close his eyes and wait until your breathing slows and your hold on him loosens, then open his eyes and simply observe you. He loves getting to watch you in such a relaxed state. He will trace the shape of your nose, your mouth, your jaw, with his finger tip, moving your hair to get a better view of your face. He's able to do things he'd never be able to do with you conscious, and able to tease him.

Kaveh

Kaveh is SO clingy so physical touch is a give-in. You're basically his personal teddy bear. Even if he's extremely busy with a project he will insist that you sit on his lap while he works. There have been many late nights that you fall asleep hugging his chest as he continues to work. You being there is the only thing that gets him through the night sometimes.

His excessive cuddling only gets worse when he drinks. As he stumbles through the door, skin flushed on his face, you know it will be a long night. He will coo at you saying how cute you are, squeezing your cheeks, and playing with your hair. You have to be appreciative of his delirious state, unable to notice the way your face heats up at his compliments. Eventually he will conk out on top of you, holding you close.

He also adores words of affirmation. He enjoys telling you just how much he loves you, in great detail. He's always sure to praise you for your efforts, whether big or small. I feel like he would leave sticky notes around your house for you to find like, "You're going to do great today!" Or "Looking beautiful as ever" and it's soooo cheesy but you can't help but love it.

He's always sure to tell others about your accomplishments aswell! His friends and colleagues are probably sick of it by now but he can't help but bring you up in every conversation. Gloating about how amazing you are, because how could he not when he has the best partner in the world??

Ayato

He enjoys acts of service. Ayato is a very observant man. So if he notices that you have even the littlest problem, he will be right on it. He will send as much staff as he deems necessary to aid you. Can he go a little overboard sometimes? Yes. But you can't help but giggle when you make an off handed comment about your back hurting, and the next day you have an appointment with inazuma's best masseuse.

Even if there isn't a problem, he doesn't want his love to have to lift a finger. You've made attempts to help around the estate in various ways but are quickly shut down as he makes a comment about how "that's what Thoma's there for." It's not that he doesn't WANT your help, in fact, the idea of eating your home cooked meals sounds very enticing, it's just that he wants to help lighten the load of things you need to do as much as he can.

Gift giving is another way he shows you that he loves you. Mora isn't an issue with him and he makes that quite clear. Like previously stated, he notices the little things. If you are out in the city and he notices you eyeing a certain tea set, he will 100% buy it. Ayato adores the surprised look on your face when you're presented with the item, you didn't think that he even saw you glimpsing at.

You will always have the newest brand jewelry and clothing. You are his future spouse, which means you are associated with the Kamisato Clan, so of course you have to look your best. That's his reasoning to you of course, really he just loves putting his darling in the highest quality items there is. In his eyes you're an absolute gem, so no amount of mora would ever be too much.

Al-Haitham reads a lot, if he finds something that would be useful to you, he'd likely make note of it with sources, especially if you were going to use it in a paper.

Oh you got into an argument? Someone said something you disagree with? You struggled to support your point? He found some piece of information that supports your argument? Or maybe he found something that negates the other person's? He'll bring it to you.

Perhaps you had asked a random question: you were curious or wondering about something? If he comes across useful information again, he'll bring it to you, and explain it if you need him to.

Maybe you're stressed or struggling or your body hurts in some way? He's doing research and bringing it to you.

You've got a big daunting task? He's broken it down for you, maybe even helped you delegate and even eliminate some things too

Quality Time is another love language

As we all know: Al-Haitham dislikes having a large social circle. So if he is choosing to spend time with you, outside of work (or anything else that's necessary) nonetheless, he definitely values you.

For whatever reason I feel like he's more cuddly and probably goes for hugs more?

(For anyone reading Rationality of Emotion: when you see this appear again in that fic...well I mean I was always gonna use it there...)

I imagine his physical affections are more him holding you in some way, and mostly in private, and I mean just you and him private. Initially, when Kaveh was practically watching him like a hawk to see if he could display affection, Al-Haitham is deliberately avoiding any action that Kaveh was looking for.

That being said, if you're both reading on the sofa/couch looking thing in his house, he really enjoys kinda having you nestled into him? So you've got your back against the arm rest (you have it cushioned don't worry) with your head resting on his chest and your legs across his lap. Each of you just reading and enjoying the silence.

He usually isn't wearing his sound proof earpieces when you guys are doing this.

I can also imagine him going from mostly hugging due to requests to initiating hugs himself.

Yes he has hugged you from behind before, it was a hell of a day, he's kinda overstimulated, he's got his face in your neck, and is just leaning on you a bit. Please let him rest there for a bit, even if he's kinda heavy.

As for when he does kiss you though

I think Haitham's kisses are like cute little pecks on your temples or your head, or the juncture of your neck and shoulder. I don't think they're very common either.

I don't think Alhaitham has one of the standard 'love languages'. When I look at him and see how he acts around Kaveh, I believe his love language consists of patience and compromise. With Kaveh he's willing to wait, willing to yield a bit, willing to meet him halfway.

However that wasn't always the case. He saw how being completely critical, uncompromising, and impatient ended. Alhaitham is all too familiar with the loneliness of going without Kaveh but also recognized that he was what he wanted, in the end, thus he put the work in.

I suppose if we were to apply a traditional love language label to it, his would be acts of service, considering all the work he's done on himself for Kaveh. It hasn't been easy of course. He had to go out of his way to reach out to him, to make room for him in his house and his life, disrupt his peace and quiet that he had found. He has had to deal with criticism of his habits and his way of thinking constantly. However, amongst all of that, they've made slow but steady progress. Kaveh likely didn't notice at first, the way that Alhaitham gradually adjusted the way he spoke after numerous fights. How each time something went poorly between them Alhaitham would step back, take time to process, and adjust his way of speaking to Kaveh specifically just a bit. It is likely that only after months after not bickering and peaceful cohabitation he would pause, suddenly, and realize that he's stopped thinking about leaving.

In that moment I think only Kaveh would really understand the gravity of that. For Alhaitham to make room for someone in his life they have to be important. He doesn't waste his time on those he doesn't see value in. Thus for Alhaitham to go out of way to adjust for Kaveh specifically means more than a confession ever could.

It hasn't been long since your date with Alhaitham. In fact it's been two hours.

"(Y/n)- Can you believe it? (Y/n)! In the same darshan as me. He could have said something! I know them!" Kaveh complained to himself as he went on with his day.

"Oh whatever- I bet you they're having a date in the desert studying ancient runes knowing how romantic he is, hahahaha!" Kaveh chortled, barely making any sense with his laughter covering his words.

Meanwhile...

"Ah, thank you Alhaitham. Apologies again, I didn't mean to drag you out for this long." you say dusting the rocks and sand off your clothes.

"No need to apologize. I also got something out of this trip." he replies. After your little date at Puspa Cafe- which by the way, had you so nervous that Alhaitham realized and tried calming you by telling you about himself and asking about your interests- Alhaitham offers to walk you back home, until you told him you weren't going back home.

You had an assignment that had you going to the desert to study the architecture of the inside of the dunes. Alhaitham insisted on going with you in case of any monsters. So here he is now with you. "What's important is that you've gotten everything you need."

"I do, thank you." you say beaming with a sigh, happy that you were finally done. You sit and collect your things, putting them back into your bag. "We should probably get out of here quickly." you state, not wanting either of you to be in any danger. He nods but stays in place for a second and you don't move either, waiting to see what he wants to say.

"Do you need to sit down and take the sand out of your shoes?" he says while sitting down himself and taking the sand out of his own boots.

"No I'm okay." you say with a smile. And to be honest you are. With things like your woodworking projects, you barely have time to think about things in your shoes that you've gotten used to it. Alhaitham looks at you with his eyes slitted, saying as if he didn't believe you. Suddenly he comes in front of you where you're sitting, bends down, and gestures to your legs.

You're not sure if Alhaitham is aware of how oddly intimate this is to you. How he bends down as you sit, how he holds your ankle, how he carefully takes off your shoe and puts it back on... He's like royalty- a knight or a prince, you think. Though an untraditional one, but it's not like you mind.

"There. You've been standing this whole time while doing your drawings and notes. It doesn't hurt to stop and get comfortable again." he informs you while standing back up.

"I'll keep that in mind, thank you..." you say shyly, not knowing that he was paying attention. Definitely not as robotic as other scholars say. And maybe you take back your thought from before, that he was a prince. Because now he's making you feel like royalty instead. With that you both stand up and walk back to Sumeru City.

It was late by the time you two arrive in the city. It was starting to get dark, except for the street lights and taverns that are still illuminated until even later. There are still students going home late, tavern workers still up and employees cleaning the city grounds.

"Thank you again Alhaitham, for today." There's a slight pause before you said today. There were a lot of things you wanted to thank him for.

"You're welcome." he says. You saw that he was about to bid you goodbye, but you wanted to stop him for something first.

"Ah- wait, I have something to tell you." you say quietly, your hand waving as a gesture for him to come closer. You breathe in and mentally tell yourself to calm your fast beating heart. Once he bent down to your height, you rise to his and give him a quick kiss on the cheek. Alhaitham's eyes widen a little as he was not expecting that at all. And as your cheeks grow warm, you notice the small smirk forming on his lips.

"Is this your way of telling me you're not intimidated by me anymore?" he asks slyly. He seems to be getting even closer to you, so you start slowly backing up.

"W-Well I did that to thank you for what you did for me today, but I guess that too..." you mumbled the last part. To be honest you didn't think of what Alhaitham said as your intention, but in a way it does make sense. Eventually you end up backed up on the wall next to your house, and the moment you notice is the moment Alhaitham's arm comes up and cages your head, leaving no way for you to escape.

"Just tell me if you feel uncomfortable..." he says softly. In a swift motion, he uses his index and thumb of his right hand to hold your chin and turn your head towards him. He brings you closer and closes the gap by softly pressing his lips against yours. It takes you by surprise. It was a short kiss, just a peck, but Alhaitham did that purposely to not fluster you too much.

"Alhaitham..." you say his name softly as you both pull away.

"Was it okay?" he whispers, looking deep into your eyes. You manage to let out an mhm, and he nods. "I'm glad." He has a once-in-a-blue-moon tiny smile as he says that, and pulls away, letting you finally breathe in your spot. "You don't need to thank me for these things." he says answering your statement from before. You make a noise of approval, but you honestly don't really mean it because you do feel like thanking him.

"Remember, you can come find me whenever you're finished your projects." You smile at how formal his responses sound sometimes, but you're starting to get used to knowing what he means.

"Okay then..." you say with a breathless smile. And maybe Teyvat is an upside-down world, because once you both say your goodbyes, Alhaitham goes home head buried in his book- not to read, but to hide any possible smiles that break out. You on the other hand, didn't even do anything to stop yours.

"The House of Daena."

"Oh marvelous guess~" Kaveh muses to the General Mahamatra. Originally Kaveh came to the tavern to join Cyno and Tighnari's TCG match, however the topic became something a lot more interesting so the cards were ditched.

"I thought you would have said Pardis Dhyai." says Cyno to the forest ranger chief. "Because they have a budding romance." Tighnari lets out a groan. "Get it? Since-"

"Speaking ill about me again?" Alhaitham says while arriving to the table, and sits down.

"Oh you're here." Cyno says as he sees the Scribe arriving to the table. And just in time... Tighnari thinks as Alhaitham's arrival has delayed the explanation of another terrible joke. Alhaitham nods his head as a greeting and takes a seat.

"He was busy removing the sand off his lips." Kaveh teases in a cheeky tone. Tighnari stifles his laughter with his hand as a smirk breaks out on Cyno's face. Alhaitham doesn't say anything to feed into it, though he couldn't help but wonder why he said "sand".

"Where is (y/n)?" asks Tighnari. Alhaitham's eyes sharpen for a moment, and Tighnari realizes he may have come off as nosy and quickly corrects himself. "I don't mean to pry, Kaveh just said they'd be here."

"I- well I don't suppose you'd do the honors of introducing them to us?" Kaveh crosses his arms as if he was the victim of the situation. Alhaitham sends a glare at the architect.

"No. How do you know about them anyway?"

"I heard from a few scholars who saw your little smooch with MY junior." From the emphasis on the "my", it was apparent that Kaveh was more offended that the answer was right under his nose rather than the real gossip circulating. Alhaitham then realizes he was right- he did kiss you on the cheek outside the Akademiya... "So where did you take them?"

"Would you perhaps need some flowers for next time?" Tighnari offers.

"Yes flowers! And maybe a nice view..."

"Did you hold their hand?"

"Alhaitham how can you kiss and not tell??" And it's exactly that way. Alhaitham is bombarded with questions from all of them... but he doesn't intend on answering. They don't need to know the details, he decides.

"Maybe they can join us next time." Cyno suggests. "A table for five."

"You mean a table for six. We'll need an extra chair for Alhaitham's big head."

"Make that four to exclude you and your big mouth."

"Ha-ha very funny Alhaitham. I think you ought to resign from your position as the Scribe and become a clown instead."

"Or I'll order a table for three while the two of you will be sitting in a time out corner." Tighnari orders, almost resembling a mother. The Scribe and the architect roll their eyes at each other.

"I don't need any of your help." Alhaitham says going back to the original questions. with his arms crossed. There is an awkward pause where the men fidget with their drinks, afraid they've struck a nerve.

"But flowers would be nice..." Alhaitham mumbles while looking away. The three give him a soft smile, and Tighnari nods. They knew they each had their differences with Alhaitham, but they realized the slight change in his attitude so they put them aside.

They decide to resume their lively gossip before all this about debating who would be the ugliest fungi while playing Genius Invokation TCG. Alhaitham also offers his rational opinions which as usual make the others groan in confusion, but it's nothing they are opposed to.

But the four men at the tavern table were thinking the same thing. Alhaitham was the smallest bit touched when they seemed to express interest in helping him. He may seem aloof but he did feel like they truly wanted to meet you and make you feel included in their talks.

Romance is not usually the topic of their discussions, so when the Scribe out of all of them was the first to bring that to the table, of course they'd want to support him. Not that any of them would admit it though.

"So... where did you take them?" Kaveh says trying to get more juicy details from his roommate as they walk home from the tavern.

"We went to Puspa Cafe." he says in his usual monotone voice. Kaveh gasps as this somehow surprises him.

"Puspa Cafe- well I guess we were all wrong." Kaveh says laughing to himself.

"What do you mean by that?" Alhaitham sends him a glare.

"Oh, we placed bets on your date location." Kaveh admits the jokes he shared with Tighnari and Cyno before Alhaitham's arrival. "Your office, the House of Daena and your house."

"I'm not that heartless." Alhaitham scoffs.

"I know." Kaveh says reassuring him. "Well, no matter. You came to the tavern late, so I'm assuming you had a good time, right?" And Alhaitham hates that Kaveh sounds genuine yet is trying to tease him as he asks the last part. But Kaveh already knows the answer, and he can tell because of the silence his roommate gives him as they enter their house. So he smiles and leaves him alone... well not entirely.

"By the way, you'd definitely be the ugliest fungi."

Tartaglia

He definitely loves gift giving. Have you seen how he treats his siblings? Buying them anything and everything any chance he gets. He's the exact same way with you. Tartaglia adores showering you with gifts. No matter the price he'll buy it without a second thought. Although it can be a little uncomfortable at times, when you think about the amount of mora being spent on you, but you know this is just his way of letting you know he cares <3

His favorite thing to gift you is clothing! He likes picking out outfits for you to wear, insisting on having a little fashion show just for the two of you. He just thinks you're so cute in the clothes he picks out for you :) any time there's an event you both have to attend you can be certain there will be a brand new outfit waiting for you on your bed.

Besides gift giving, he's also big with physical touch. Ajax is quite a control freak, constantly feeling the need to have full control over any situation. This means he needs to be touching you in some way at all times, to tell you (and himself) that you're safe. No matter where you are, he will have his arm wrapped around you or be holding onto your hand.

He's also just a very touchy person! Even before you started dating there was many pats on the back and hands on your shoulder. He just doesn't have boundaries that most people have, and doesn't realize he doesn't have them. You find it very endearing when he grabs hold of you without even realizing.

Wanderer

He has a hard time expressing his feelings for you so acts of service is his favorite. When he isn't doing something to purposefully make your life harder, because let's be honest, his favorite thing in the world is to irritate you, he does what he can to make every other part of it easier. Any time he comes over he'll bring food for you to have dinner with him, always being sure to bring your favorite, even if he doesn't like it.

If you're crammed with work or school and leave your place unattended to become dirty, and he comes over? He'll go on and on about how messy and unorganized you are and how if HE were living with you he'd never let it get like this. Complaining about the state of the room and how miserable it's making him, all while throwing away the trash, putting up clothes, and organizing your things. You notice but choose to keep it to yourself <3

Something as equally important to him is quality time. Scara can get very lonely, very quickly, without you. You don't even need to be talking, in fact he quite enjoys the silence, just being in the presence of his love is enough to keep him at peace. Although he prefers it to just be the two of you, no matter where he's at, it's much more bearable with you around.

He really enjoys taking naps with you, although what you're unaware of, is that it's rare that he actually sleeps. He will close his eyes and wait until your breathing slows and your hold on him loosens, then open his eyes and simply observe you. He loves getting to watch you in such a relaxed state. He will trace the shape of your nose, your mouth, your jaw, with his finger tip, moving your hair to get a better view of your face. He's able to do things he'd never be able to do with you conscious, and able to tease him.

Kaveh

Kaveh is SO clingy so physical touch is a give-in. You're basically his personal teddy bear. Even if he's extremely busy with a project he will insist that you sit on his lap while he works. There have been many late nights that you fall asleep hugging his chest as he continues to work. You being there is the only thing that gets him through the night sometimes.

His excessive cuddling only gets worse when he drinks. As he stumbles through the door, skin flushed on his face, you know it will be a long night. He will coo at you saying how cute you are, squeezing your cheeks, and playing with your hair. You have to be appreciative of his delirious state, unable to notice the way your face heats up at his compliments. Eventually he will conk out on top of you, holding you close.

He also adores words of affirmation. He enjoys telling you just how much he loves you, in great detail. He's always sure to praise you for your efforts, whether big or small. I feel like he would leave sticky notes around your house for you to find like, "You're going to do great today!" Or "Looking beautiful as ever" and it's soooo cheesy but you can't help but love it.

He's always sure to tell others about your accomplishments aswell! His friends and colleagues are probably sick of it by now but he can't help but bring you up in every conversation. Gloating about how amazing you are, because how could he not when he has the best partner in the world??

Ayato

He enjoys acts of service. Ayato is a very observant man. So if he notices that you have even the littlest problem, he will be right on it. He will send as much staff as he deems necessary to aid you. Can he go a little overboard sometimes? Yes. But you can't help but giggle when you make an off handed comment about your back hurting, and the next day you have an appointment with inazuma's best masseuse.

Even if there isn't a problem, he doesn't want his love to have to lift a finger. You've made attempts to help around the estate in various ways but are quickly shut down as he makes a comment about how "that's what Thoma's there for." It's not that he doesn't WANT your help, in fact, the idea of eating your home cooked meals sounds very enticing, it's just that he wants to help lighten the load of things you need to do as much as he can.

Gift giving is another way he shows you that he loves you. Mora isn't an issue with him and he makes that quite clear. Like previously stated, he notices the little things. If you are out in the city and he notices you eyeing a certain tea set, he will 100% buy it. Ayato adores the surprised look on your face when you're presented with the item, you didn't think that he even saw you glimpsing at.

You will always have the newest brand jewelry and clothing. You are his future spouse, which means you are associated with the Kamisato Clan, so of course you have to look your best. in this au, the structure of the competition rounds is the same as canon, but they can also pick one pokemon partner to help them each round. battling is prohibited except for in the final round, where some is allowed for purposes of gaining the diadem. kaveh picked mehrak in all three rounds.

ENDING SCENE COMMENTARY

in my idea of hvkh. hthm is kind of a ‘and then i’ll keep these feelings inside until i die’ kind of guy but also not really. he knows he’s in love but he doesn’t want to say it out loud bc he also knows that saying it when kaveh isn’t ready for it could end badly.

so what he does is show it in other ways. he bickers like usual. he goes to pick him up from the tavern and pay his bill and take him home, take off his makeup and his accessories etc. making little accomodations for him that he wouldn’t for anyone else. that’s the kind of love that he shows.

kvh on the other hand is the …. hmmge…. dunno how to word it properly but the ‘if i let myself be loved then i let myself be known.’ kind of guy. or something. it’s not that he doesn’t return hthm’s feelings! or even not know what it means! but he doesn’t want to accept them for what they actually are bc… if he does, then it also means confronting the fact that someone actually Cares about him [jawdrop.jpg]. and that person is like. the most annoying person you have ever known but also like the only person who perfectly matches you beat for beat and makes you Feel. feelings. horrendous.

so bc of that i did Not actually choose to put in words the big L word . Yes they do Confess, but in the theme of things, it’s more Actions speak louder than Words. it is also more wow. both me and alhaitham would probably break out in hives if he straight up said it like that. i would much rather let the two of them be the ‘act’ and the ‘react’.

i also think that kaveh is someone who loves romantic gestures and even though what happened was romantic (kind of) lots of things happened that made it also. really weird. so while its p much acceptance of feelings he also wants to have a chance to properly convey things and have a heartfelt romantic dramatic speech etc. after he's prepared. that's the proper answer part.

Dumping some random Kavetham headcanons (one is a bit nsfw):

Kaveh has naturally blonde hair, but dyed it brown after his father died, to keep his mother from being sad when she looked at him. He has let it grow out since she moved to Fontaine, and now only the tips of his hair are brown

Kaveh is genderfluid and uses she/her and he/him, while Alhaitham is ftm trans and uses he/him only

Alhaitham keeps his nails relatively short, whereas Kaveh's are a fair bit longer. (he once shortened her nails because a couple chipped while she worked, Alhaitham was sad until they grew out again)

adding onto that: Alhaitham likes Kaveh to keep her nails long because he likes when she scratches his back during sex

Alhaitham is autistic and goes nonverbal sometimes (especially when he's stressed or overwhelmed). He and Kaveh have begun writing notes to each other to communicate when he goes nonverbal
