This is getting ridiculous.

It’s not surprising that Matt comes to him to complain about his current crush, he’s done that as long as they’ve known each other. It’s not even that surprising that Keith has been doing the same, goodness knows Keith doesn’t have a lot of close friends.

What’s ridiculous about it is that they’re complaining about (read: pining for) each other. And somehow neither has any idea, despite the constant flirting Shiro has to endure when he hangs out with them–well, Matt flirts. Keith tries. The point is it’s so unbelievably obvious, and they’re so unbelievably oblivious.

“Shirooo,” Matt’s always whining. “He’s so cute I’m going to die. Did you see what he did today?”

To which Shiro will respond that yes, he did see, and why won’t Matt ask him out already?

“No way!” Matt always, always responds. “What if he says no?”

Sometimes all Shiro can do is sigh.

Keith is no better. He always comes to Shiro agitated and pacing, until he finally bursts out with what’s bothering him.

“He complimented my jacket!” he exclaims, or some other gripe. “What did he mean by that? Am I reading into this!?”

Of course, Shiro knows that in Matt-speak, when aimed at Keith, “I like your jacket” actually means “I think you’re hot as hell.” Every time he tries to explain this, though, Keith will just shake his head.

“You’re making that up. There’s no way he thinks that about me,” he’ll say.

Idiots, the both of them.

Still, they’re his friends, and he wants them to get together as much for their happiness as his own sanity. Considering how stubborn they both are, though, he’s going to have to take drastic measures.

He calls Pidge.

“You’re gonna owe me,” she says when he asks for a favor.

“Of course,” says Shiro. “Also, it’s definitely illegal, and it’s gonna embarrass the hell out of your brother.”

“You know what? I’ll do it for free. What do you need?”

And that’s why when Shiro gets a call from Keith two days later that he’s going to be late to their weekly movie night, he’s not surprised in the slightest.

“I’m stuck in the elevator with Matt,” Keith explains, and Shiro has to fight to keep the grin out of his voice. He’s not fighting very hard, though.

“Just the two of you?”

“Shiro,” Keith says warningly.

“Just asking. What floor are you stuck nearest? Do you need me to bring snacks? Condoms?”

“Shiro!” 

So movie night is delayed by a couple hours. But when Keith and Matt show up holding hands and bashfully refusing to meet his eyes, he knows it was definitely worth it.

as i've said before, it took me a hot minute to get into them because i was such a USUK fan. but...i'm english, i am a casual enjoyer of english history. shipping them was bound to happen, though it did take me becoming closer to adulthood and engaging with more books, film, and tv with some fucked up psychological themes to 'get it.' i don't like when it's all cute and fluffy for them, i just can't buy into that. you're telling me that these two ancient entities and former superpowers who got into wars against each other on virtually every fucking continent are now, what? snuggling up together in front of the telly while francis reads and arthur knits? what's next, ivan and alfred making sweet tender love in the ISS? kinda have to put my historian hat on for this, but i can't ship this. i know too much. you have to be either homophobic or incredibly ignorant on european monarchy in the 18c. to look at these two and think 'wow! such love and tenderness here!' he was repulsed by her before he even met her. upon seeing her for the first time after the seven year's war, he told her she'd gotten fat. one member of elisabeth christine's staff, who really admired fritz, resented how terribly he treated her! modern historians (myself included) are flummoxed at why even after his death she retained any loyalty to him. as i circled above, it's so bad and atrocious that it becomes almost comical. i wish FW1 had allowed fritz to marry his cousin, not for any 'rule britannia' reasons, but because i wish elisabeth christine had had a chance to marry someone who would've at least tolerated her and not torn her down in every conceivable way with his equally bitchy sister!! modern AU where she divorces him and she works as a translator without having to be chained to shitty men like frederick (and so he can just marry katte, fredersdorf, or some man. some poor man take one for the team. be a feminist)

Okay I swear I didn’t look at these questions first, it’s me of course I would put archester first. It’s important because it’s my first serious rwby ship. Because it’s the first ship I ever wrote fanfiction for and the one that is basically my chief comfort ship to write for. Anytime I do major writing events (last year’s whumptober), they’re the ship my brain naturally defaults to like it’s using it to take a break and reboot. It’s fun and it’s special to me

6. Is 9 a funny ship or a serious ship?

They’re a funny ship! They’re fun and have a great dynamic!

7. Out of all of the ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry?

HIgh noon. High noon totally has the most chemistry. They’re both smart idiots. They’re risktakers and they have wanderlust- they’re willing to follow each other. Sun is so, so positive and such a just... ray of sunshine. And Sky, well, he can seem like that but he’s really not? So they also balance each other out. They’re just,,, good and fun work well together and bring me joy!

8. Out of all of your ships listed, which ship has the strongest bond?

I do think they all have incredibly strong bonds. Because, I mean, that’s what relationships are built on? But if I have to pick, bird boys. They’re team members, they kind of need to. They’ve fought together, trained together, eaten together, slept together. All before they were all in a romantic relationship. And for that matter, nordic winter too. I mean, they’re traveling to save the world together, that’s gotta form some mighty strong bonds.

9. How many times have you read/watched 10’s fandom?

Not too much. I mostly look at art. It’s all very good. (I personally love @wickedtwisters )

10. Which ship has lasted the longest?

Archester. I have shipped these two idiots since the volume one-two haitus. Send help

11. How many times, if ever, has 6 broken up?

Once and it was because of a misunderstanding. It lasted maybe a week. They were both angry at each other

Greek freckles. I’m sorry boys, but like. Ilia and Pyrrha. They’d be bitchin’ in a zombie apocalypse, it’s not even a contest

Not at all. (Really, the only reason they might  is solely because ‘secret/hidden relationship-relationship reveal’ is one of my top three favourite tropes)

Favorite Thing about Them She is so peppy i wish i had that much energy! And for how much she shit-talks in a fight to get under her opponent’s skin, she’s actually really supportive afterwards. She’s also incredibly observant, being able to pick up people’s insecurities right away in a fight 

Least Favorite Thing about Them I don’t love all of the body shaming from Volume 3. It came across as “I’m cooler than most girls”. I’m glad it went away in Volume 7/8

Favorite Line Wow! That was amazing! You guys have really improved since the Vytal Tournament. And that cute farm boy had a few surprises for us, too.

brOTP She and Flynt are unlikely best friends. He’s listening to classical music while she talks shit to other players in her multiplayer video games. But they love and support each other so much (even in the trenches defending their kingdom from waves of Grimm)

favorite thing about them: Everything, it's hard to choose I love how sincere and caring he is. I also love how he prioritizes mental health and getting help especially for those who have been through a lot and suffer from ptsd. Like his conversation with Luke about Phil in 14x07, encouraging his wife to get help and talk to a therapist about the hostage situation in 13x19. As a veteran, he's been there before and knows it's important to get help

least favorite thing about them: Him being anti technology, like him choosing to play a board game with his kids over video games and reluctance to upgrade his not that it sounds materialistic but it seems random

favorite line: "Sometimes I wish I could just snap my fingers and make all the bad in the world go away."

random headcanon: He's very humble when it comes to money, especially as it's likely that he had a poor background when he was younger and was never materialistic when it comes to spending money but in the rare moments he does, it’s often for his kids and even Kristy like saving money for a family trip to Disneyland

unpopular opinion: I like Matt as a dad, but I didn't like how in most of 15x03, he started acting like a bumbling dad. Sure, he's often busy at work but so have Hotch, JJ and Jack from cmbb and they rarely get this type of treatment. Wouldn't hurt to see him cook breakfast or dinner, pick up any toys of clothes the kids left and maybe he and the kids can play out in the backyard assuming the board game doesn't go well and doesn't want the kids to spend too much time watching tv or play video games, that kind of stuff. I also think that if the writers really cared about Matt, maybe we could've seen more of his geographical profiling skills and see him go on par with Reid. Another thing is I personally think he had better characterization in cmbb than in cm.
