Meet Weruka Adolis, inspired by the beloved character: Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family!

Coming from a strange family, Weruka lives with her brothers, her mother, father, an uncle, their butler, a living severed hand, a weird creature and a grandma. Although...who exactly is her grandma related to parent-wise anyways? Then again, who cares! The Adolis family tends to adopt strangers into their little family all the time.

Some of her interests/likes include death, the macabre, poison, training with her crossbow, torturing her brother (the older one), experimenting (again mostly on the older of her brothers), writing poetry, and ballet. She's also highly intelligent and blunt at times.

The Adolis family wants for nothing, having a vast fortune that rivals even the most richest of trolls, though Weruka doesn't know exactly what her family does to earn that money. Not that she'll complain of course. More money to fuel her experiments is fine by her.

Treading carefully in his bare feet and avoiding the squeaky floorboards, he made his way to the telescope set up by the small attic window.  He sat on Grandpa’s old trunk to look through the eye-piece and make the necessary adjustments.  Yes, there.  That was the spot, the right little patch of stars, but it would be clearer without the obstacle of the window pane. He told himself he was only opening the window so he could see more clearly through the telescope, but deep down he knew the stars would call him closer if he let them.  The slight squeal as he slid the window up and open had his heart pounding again and he waited with bated breath, listening for any sign of movement downstairs.  After a long few seconds he felt assured he was still alone and undiscovered, so he resumed his position on the trunk to re-check the view through the telescope.

cant believe i forgot about maleficent and her emo boytoy omg thank you for cleansing the timeline🫶

I am so pleased to bless the timeline with a fine vintage ship, come join me in savoring it. I checked out the novelization on a whim (commuting) and I was like, oh right! I forgot this movie and specifically this ship was made in a lab for my brain. So now I've rewatched the film and I'm lost in the sauce.

I love that Maleficent/Diaval is the story of two people accidentally raising a baby into a teenager together and the whole time Maleficent is oblivious (not her fault! she has bigger things going on!) while Diaval is like "that's my wife, she's terrifying. i love her. <3" Even when Aurora meets them properly as a 15 year old, Maleficent is Going Through It™ while Diaval is just so hype to finally introduce himself to his child.

I really feel like the most beautiful and unique part of it is the genuine backtalk; Diaval might start out subservient and he certainly maintains that position but as time goes on he proves himself perfectly willing to correct or backtalk Maleficent. He basically functions as a reminder of her heart and moral compass while she is recovering from her hurt (and subsequent revenge bender) and it's delightful to watch because you rarely see a position where a male character is so open and honest while the woman gets to have the delicious redemption arc. Maleficent is going through an enemies-to-godfamily relationship arc with Aurora while Diaval is patiently waiting for her to realize he's got heart eyes (AND for her to realize she does actually love Aurora, that's another great element, he realizes this LONG before Maleficent does and tries to gently nudge her over to that revelation). But also this:

He really said "I am just pretending to be afraid of you; I know you won't hurt me even if you push me around" and he was right. What a lovely thing to be playing out as the B or maybe C-plot. There's enough insane drama happening, it's nice that there's something a little lighter and more steady in the background of the story.

Another thing I was musing on through the book and film -- as much as I adore found family and platonic love, it's nice to see a story where a victim of what is clearly coded as sexual assault and is at least intimate partner violence finds love again. I know Maleficent & Diaval isn't technically 'canon', but again, the film was juggling enough relationship arcs with Maleficent & Aurora and Maleficent & Stefan. It's okay, in my eyes, for the romance element to be subtext, when it's clearly still important and given some narrative space and weight.

I had a more coherent thought but finally found a gif of just this moment (thank you, @raainstorms, you spoil us all) so instead you get this. I love it. Maleficent really said "go defend our kid who I haven't realized yet is our kid" and Diaval said "understood". Never proposed but nevertheless they've been married for years.

"Who fell first vs. who fell harder" is defunct. "Which one is the evil minion who adopted the baby on sight and who is the Evil Empress who had to slowly realize they love the baby" is the vintage yardstick everything else has to measure up to. I will read 100,000 fanfics of Maleficent only belatedly realizing that somewhere in the process of acquiring her goddaughter she also acquired a husband. Maybe she acquired the husband first, she certainly does not know. Diaval understands this and is okay with it, Aurora probably doesn't understand in the slightest how her godmother did not pick up on anything.

And the sequel! I realized after reading some other posts that I did NOT remember the sequel correctly because my memories are "fairy genocide and also Diaval and Maleficent are co-parenting". Apparently somewhere in there Maleficent is shoved into a love triangle with two men who are not her long-term boytoy/coparent/external moral compass, which is ridiculous, because the film ends with them attending their daughter's wedding in matching outfits.

If Maleficent 3 (boo hiss at Disney, make something new, cowards) isn't about Aurora parent trapping them I am going to riot in the street.

definitely ALL the crew are playing just dance. Uzi hooks up N and V with it and everyone is just inviting themselves over to play. it’s… a wreck to say the least.

V and J make it a whole ass war trying to one up each other on how fast and hard they can hit these moves. furniture is being broken and N is stressin. Uzi finds it hilarious and doesn’t have it in her to tell them it’s not a competition. she’s living for the chaos.

Lizzy is cheering V on and it pisses J off fs. also lets let Doll be alive soley for the reason of her doing Ra Ra Rasputin and KILLING IT (get it because…. because she’s-)

I’m just here trying to sleep after a long week (I know it’s only Wednesday but I am stressed and I wanted to quit my job on Monday so it’s a long week) and I’m thinking about Dustin’s birthday. Specifically his seventeenth. And maybe it’s not on the exact day, but around there, and it hits him out of nowhere

He’s the same age Steve was when a bunch of kids were shoved at him and he was told to keep them safe. He’s the same age Steve was when he almost died doing that multiple times on the same night. He’s the same age Steve was and he doesn’t think he’s even remotely prepared to handle a group of kids and doesn’t think he could have been brave enough to fight a bunch of demodogs or billy when he was spitting mad and then gotten up and gone into the tunnels afterwards.

And he looks at Steve now, more mellow, softer around the edges, with friends his own age and his bitching far more playful and affectionate with them, with his glasses and his failing hearing and sometimes anger because of those things but no regrets.

He looks at him and wants to cry because he doesn’t know how Steve did it. He doesn’t know how Steve was so brave and strong then when he was arguably still sort of an asshole and didn’t even know them aside from knowing who they were. Because that night was the first night they’d even spoken, but Steve had jumped right back in despite how they all knew he’d tried to pretend it never happened.

He looks at his brother and doesn’t understand how he’d so easily been there for them back then because trying to imagine himself in his place it just makes him feel overwhelming panic.

Because that’s when it hits

Steve was a kid too. He was just a kid, but he’d seemed like an adult to him, had carried himself with the confidence of adulthood even when Dustin knew now that it was bravado.

He thinks about the year before, when Steve had fought his first monster and been even younger. And maybe he wasn’t the youngest, that was Erica’s privilege, but he’d still been a kid and they’d all forgotten that because it was Steve, who took on the mantle of protector and carried it like a badge of honor even now.

And he hugs him, of course he does, and when they talk, they both cry a little, because Steve can finally admit how he’d felt back then, how he’d felt so out of his depth but didn’t want the kids to see his fear because he needed to be brave

Just lots of sappy thoughts about childhood and loss and moving on knowing that you were allowed to be scared when you thought you couldn’t

I need everyone doomsdaying in my inbox to remember that Kat is a journalist and some people are waiting for Ryan to say in an interview that the mustache is gay and that Eddie's in love with Buck and that buddie will be fucking nasty on 804. This is an interview that has been done before the season started airing, Ryan is probably talking about Eddie's identity the same way he has been talking about it the whole time. In my opinion, Kat is trying to get people's expectations back down. Ryan is not gonna confirm to a journalist he grew a beard because he wanted Eddie to have a gay mustache even if that was the case because that would be a major spoiler now that we know the mustache will play a part in Eddie's storyline but some of y'all are expecting it to be the case. The mustache is its own character, avoiding things that will spoil its purpose is definitely the expectation, but Kat knows people who follow her ship buddie and we are a bit too intense at times. Even more considering the fact that all it takes is one tweet from a journalist for everyone to lose their minds. Oliver spent the whole time before 704 talking about Buck redefining his relationship with himself. And now we have bi Buck. Take a breath, have some faith.

After putting Baizza to bed for the morning, Rhovia moved silently into the kitchen of their hive, happy to have one rather than just their old circus tent. Making sure the curtains were closed, she set about to preparing some treats that, while they probably wouldn't last until then, were for the upcoming spooky holiday. While she was waiting for a particular batch of cookies to bake, she started to sing to pass the time.

When she turned around to check the timer for the cookies after her song, she saw Tirimor standing there. She blinked before giving him a sheepish grin. "Oh heya babe. Ya surprised me ehehe..."

Well, things like mommy issues and daddy issues aren’t really “I care about them a lot and am upset something happened” (though they can be)

It’s a silly, mostly derogatory, term for someone whose relationship with a parent, in this case a mother, was soooo volatile in childhood that it left a lasting mark on their psyche to the point a significant portion of their actions end up filtered through unresolved emotions surrounding their mother. Usually psychosexual. Not always though!

Personally I would say mikuni’s lack of reaction to his mother’s death comes from a few areas. 1) he’d seen the changes in his mother and knew that the woman who raised him and Misono with so much love was no longer there. He’d made his peace with her demise long before it caught up to reality. 2) compartmentalizing 3) and this might be a little controversial but I am using the term respectfully and without derision, as a morally neutral state of being. That said, Mikuni shows traits of psychopathy and this could also have impacted the way he responded, not to mention we jump cut to a scene in a WacDonald’s without any indication of how much time has passed between Mikuni leaving the manor and making his way to the restaurant, so there’s a portion of indeterminate time where we simply are unaware of his actions, reactions, and thoughts on the matter

I hope some of this helps to explain the joke! It’s a little mean spirited but he’s a fictional character so I’m fine making fun of him like that xD
