Okay, so, admittedly it's been a good few years since I actually read the Hunger Games books, but am I like the only person in the world who sees all these sapphic undercurrents between Madge Undersee and Katniss? That cheek kiss? Just the fact that she gives Katniss her pin, which was an heirloom of her dead aunt who also got reaped? Those little scenes between them in Catching Fire? I'm not the only one who picked up on a vibe, am I?

Like yes, I know, there's this whole thing after Madge brings over the morphling where Katniss thinks Haymitch is implying that Madge secretly likes Gale because of the strawberries but like Katniss also delivered those strawberries. And when the only scene I remember them sharing has Gale trying to shame Madge for not having to take out tesserae... I don't know, it feels like it makes more sense to me that Madge was in love with Katniss and brought her the medicine because Gale is important to Katniss.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this. There's just these vibes.

Katniss shipping poll:

Okay so I tried to do the Katniss poll the other day, but then I realized I only put voting on for 24 hours, PLUS I remembered that Finnick/Johanna/Annie were all 18+ whereas Katniss was still 17 at the end of the series.

I honestly forgot Finnick was 24(!!!) in the series; I thought the younger victors were all pretty close in age, especially since they developed pretty close relationships in mockingjay (close in their own way).

So, after a bit of consideration I WILL still be including ships like Johanna and Katniss, but with the assumption that they’d be closer in age or kind of in a canon-adjacent au. I’m not personally endorsing the idea of a 17 year old being with a 24 year old on its surface—but at the end of the day it’s simply shipping two characters and I can understand why people like certain characters dynamics.

I won’t be including any other adults in the shipping polls with characters like Katniss, Peeta, Gale, etc. You won’t find something like Beetee x Peeta in here 💀

**I also included Everlark, despite knowing that it would probably get all the votes; I included Hayffie in my previous one, so I wanted to try and be consistent.

She lists Madge with her loved ones. Who get embraces and kisses. Not next to Prim, like a sister would be. Next to GALE, one of her ROMANTIC INTERESTS. I’M—

idk what it is but canon couples are always slightly less appealing to me than the ones that aren’t explicity canon. it’s something about picking two characters because you love their dynamic and rooting for them even though you know it probably won’t happen.
