sometimes i think about how happy Katniss was when they rescued Peeta in Mockingjay, running to him giddy and giggling, making up scenarios inside her mind, dreaming about kissing him, like for a moment despite all the horrific things she had to go through she was genuinely, completely happy and then the absolute, crippling tragedy of it being taken away when he tried to kill her and she found out that they had tortured him and erased every part of him that loved her and not only does he hate her, he’s actually afraid of her and is convinced she’s not a real person and then i want to jump off a bridge

Katniss: I'm not in love with Peeta!!! Why would I be in love with him? I have other things to worry about! I'm not in love with peeta

as i’ve been rereading the hunger games i’m more and more convinced katniss is autistic. i don’t think this was on purpose i think her inability to realize when people feel things for her, her in depth description of yearning for comfort routine and her description of her world was meant to paint her as the “not like other girls” character but there are so many moments where i recognize elements that just make sense when you look at her through the lens of an autistic experience

Peeta Mellark’s real character arc was from shy pookie to traumatized dilf and that’s the most important thing.

you smile softly as finnick hands you a steaming cup of coffee in your favorite mug— it was one he had gifted you a few years back, adorned with small owls because he had known prior they had been your favorite animals (how he knew this, you were unsure). he takes a seat beside you on the couch, but not before making sure to take half of your cozy blankets and making himself warm with them also. he throws a glance (or longer than, whatever) over to your happy self as you take a sip from your coffee

“did I make it to your liking?” jokes finnick. you roll your eyes but your uncontrollable smile gives your mood away instantly

“yes, it’s lovely” you confess, placing it on top of the blanket pile you had created on top of your lap. finnick takes the opportunity to intertwine your newly freed hand with his. your eyes grow heavy at the newfound warmth. “I’m tired”

“give the caffeine about ten minutes and you’ll be bouncing off the walls”

“mhm, no” you say wearily, but nonetheless take another sip to hopefully fulfill his statement. when you yawn, however, you know you’re done for. finnick frowns and takes you onto his lap, careful of your fill mug in your hands. he allows you to take a few more sips before he removes the cup from your palms and places it atop the coffee table. with free arms, you wrap them around his neck and rest your head on his shoulder sleepily

“you can rest for a bit, lovely girl. I’ll be here when you wake up”

“promise?”

“yeah, I promise”

you know it’s more sacred than any holy oath ever formed. internally, you’re screaming and giggling and kicking your feet at this. “m’kay. only for a bit”

“sounds like a plan”

and it indeed was a plan. soon after, you’re lulled to sleep with the feeling of his handing running up and down your back, the faint fire crackling noise, and a cup of coffee thinking through your system

➸ Day 1: Favourite Movie — Mockingjay Part 1

No one hates the Capitol more than me and I want to help but I just keep thinking even if we win this war, what happens to Peeta? I mean I know he’s not safe there but he’s definitely not safe here.

I know Lucy Gray is supposed to represent the Songbird while Snow is the Snake, but i actually think she relates more with the snakes (because of her whole deal with snakes and her dress represents the rainbow snakes of the Capitol) and Snow relates more with the bird (because of what happened with the Jabberjay and the Mockingjays at the end). But what do you think?

Snow gives his lover a rose and then kills her, fast forward years later, he gives Katniss roses to tell her he’s going to kill her lover. Suzanne is a genius.

One thing that isn't touched on enough in the hunger games is the names Peeta is obviously Peter but its been so long and there have been so many wars that people have forgotten how to spell the original but its still there. Like no matter what happens to us our names our ideas will always remain even if we aren't there anymore.

If you think about Peeta growing up in an abusive household he probably felt unwanted and not important his whole life.

And then here’s Katniss, who sees him as everything good in the world and wants him to live more than anything.
