sometimes i think about how happy Katniss was when they rescued Peeta in Mockingjay, running to him giddy and giggling, making up scenarios inside her mind, dreaming about kissing him, like for a moment despite all the horrific things she had to go through she was genuinely, completely happy and then the absolute, crippling tragedy of it being taken away when he tried to kill her and she found out that they had tortured him and erased every part of him that loved her and not only does he hate her, he’s actually afraid of her and is convinced she’s not a real person and then i want to jump off a bridge

— too soft for all of it ꣑ৎ‧₊˚.
★ - “you're in the kitchen hummin' / all that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothin'”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
warnings: just tooth rotting fluff! pairing: finnick odair x fem! reader a/n: it’s been so cold I’m developing an addiction to cozy/sleepy blurbs 😣
Tumblr media
“It’s still hot, be careful”
you smile softly as finnick hands you a steaming cup of coffee in your favorite mug— it was one he had gifted you a few years back, adorned with small owls because he had known prior they had been your favorite animals (how he knew this, you were unsure). he takes a seat beside you on the couch, but not before making sure to take half of your cozy blankets and making himself warm with them also. he throws a glance (or longer than, whatever) over to your happy self as you take a sip from your coffee
“did I make it to your liking?” jokes finnick. you roll your eyes but your uncontrollable smile gives your mood away instantly
“yes, it’s lovely” you confess, placing it on top of the blanket pile you had created on top of your lap. finnick takes the opportunity to intertwine your newly freed hand with his. your eyes grow heavy at the newfound warmth. “I’m tired”
“give the caffeine about ten minutes and you’ll be bouncing off the walls”
“mhm, no” you say wearily, but nonetheless take another sip to hopefully fulfill his statement. when you yawn, however, you know you’re done for. finnick frowns and takes you onto his lap, careful of your fill mug in your hands. he allows you to take a few more sips before he removes the cup from your palms and places it atop the coffee table. with free arms, you wrap them around his neck and rest your head on his shoulder sleepily
“you can rest for a bit, lovely girl. I’ll be here when you wake up”
“promise?”
“yeah, I promise”
you know it’s more sacred than any holy oath ever formed. internally, you’re screaming and giggling and kicking your feet at this. “m’kay. only for a bit”
“sounds like a plan”
and it indeed was a plan. soon after, you’re lulled to sleep with the feeling of his handing running up and down your back, the faint fire crackling noise, and a cup of coffee thinking through your system

i can't stop thinking about how practically every romantic relationship in the hunger games mirrored Everlark in history and how Everlark we're the only ones that got to be together and didn't end tragically. Lucy Gray and Snow, Haymitch and Lenore Dove, Cato and Clove (if your delusional like me an believe they're canon) and Finnick and Annie. Yet Peeta and Katniss we're the only ones that made it.

“Growing older means the full realization that the capital was the only true villian, NEVER any of the other tributes who were literally just scared little kids”
WOW REALLY??? I NEVER WOULD HAVE GUESSED THAT FROM READING THE BOOKS ITS LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE THAT THE ENTIRE POINT OR SOMETHING

I feel that the cornucopia, being the main area of The Hunger Games arena, and the cornucopia, being one of Lord Hades' (god of the dead) symbols, are connected somehow; I just don't know how to explain it.

There’s been so much shatter about rigging the tributes, but I think we’re ignoring the rigging of losers. Do you think snow was going to let district 12 have more victors, let haymitch win in some way again . He’s smart enough, he could’ve helped. But I imagine after a few years of trying to keep those other kids alive, he realised the moment they were reaped they were just as dead as his loved ones. Snow didn’t need to rig the d12 tributes, they were never going to win. But Plutarch was at the 74th and I imagine haymitch might have let him know that someone an awful lot like himself was entering the games. She was the plan from the start.

as i’ve been rereading the hunger games i’m more and more convinced katniss is autistic. i don’t think this was on purpose i think her inability to realize when people feel things for her, her in depth description of yearning for comfort routine and her description of her world was meant to paint her as the “not like other girls” character but there are so many moments where i recognize elements that just make sense when you look at her through the lens of an autistic experience

"You guys are proving the point."
"We are just as bad as the Capitol."
"Did you even read the books? Wanting more is the problem."
No, fucking no..
Did you read the books? Do you know the content you consumed? This isn't john wick, we aren't reading and watching this series for the gruesome deaths.
We are consuming this media to hear the voices of this fictional world, the voices who were robbed of their story.
Thinking that we are just as bad is way off the point I'd think you are insane. Why are we acting like this is similar at all.
You have any idea what I'd give to hear the tales of the people who were killed before anyone would know. The ancestors we have who we won't ever know.
We read for the hope, for the relating to these people. I was raped at a young child, hearing Finnick realize it isn't his fault would heal me.
Hearing a story from the 25th hunger games would heal the people who were turned on for no reason. Hearing about a Capitol citizen slowly realize the reality will help people whose entire lives have been trapped in a propaganda machine. Hearing if the ones who rely on drugs will heal those who struggled with use.
The entire point of the games were to remind people to stay silent, to stay docile against the government. The reason we read is to feel joy for people rising above, for working for a better ending.
When I read the end of Mockingjay, I can't help but cry. Because after having my son and overcoming everything, I relate to Katniss's love and growth.
I want to see this anger when people complain about gay people and politics in the books. Not when people hope to hear more survivors, because even if you don't make it out alive.
You still survived.
