A ship I have with said character: Hebiichigo / Metal is my OTP, but I also super love Namida / Metal. (I also ship Team 5 in all combinations, but that's a given.)

A BROTP I have with said character: Love Team 5 together, but Mitsuki and Metal have a potential I feel was set up in the show and then forgotten about. I'd love to see them get along.

I also super want him to meet Yurui, but that's my bias talking.

General Opinion over said character: He's my precious Metal and he deserves better in every way. It was a shame canon didn't know what to do with him, so they kind of just made him a joke character. I think that's tragic. He was shown in the early series as very capable and very strong, but that was just kind of... forgotten about? Maybe intentionally so? A BROTP I have with said character: Shikamaru and Choji - it's a cop out, but I just love these two together and it is a darn shame they forgot about it in Boruto. I love that Shikamaru and Naruto are friends and coworkers, sure, but where is Choji.

A NOTP I have with said character: Again, I don't really have a NOTP for Choji. He's one of those characters that would probably fit in with anyone; he can be loving to anyone.

A random headcanon: He's semi-retired; he is still a registered shinobi and stays in shape so he can be mobilized if needed and keep track of ChoCho's training, but if left to his own devices, he's mostly focused on the day-to-day politics and admin of his clan.

General Opinion over said character: I love Choji and he is underrated; he is a gentle soul in a violent world and I really like that he's shown to be both capable and very caring. If anyone deserved a peaceful ending in Boruto, it was Choji.

Hello Boruto fandom, Never once watched Boruto, never even got past the Kazekage Rescue Arc, personally I think Ikemoto is a bit off his rocker because- how in the world did you manage to make this world even MORE sexist but y'know

so I'm having fun with what i would have liked to see in the next gen, as an original fan, and I am desperately trying to get rid of the ninja brainworms that have gripped me before workflow picks back up. (I'm actually going crazy on Milanotes)

I did some other rough brainstorming in the past and this is kinda building off that: Boruto Hinata

Thoughts:

It strikes me as really odd, for how catastrophic and world-ending the fourth war was, that there were seemingly no major repercussions or casualties. That's just not realistic to me. More than one main character should've died. It gives more emotional weight to someone like Kiba, who doesn't have any big role beyond the War, and thus gives his character a purpose that isn't just "Im gonna be Hokage #57"

The front lines weren't the only places being targeted, villages and safe houses were under siege, resulting in countless civilian, genin, and chunin deaths.

Mei stays Mizukage instead of that spineless, random guy.

I have some ideas for the injuries that the "crippling wounds" category sustains, but it's important to mention that "crippling" only means "not fit for active shinobi duty" since that's the bread and butter job of ninja society, so the severity of the injuries varies greatly.

I'm also aware that medical ninjutsu is like a magic eraser when it comes to stuff like that, but I rationalize that medics were more concerned about helping their patients survive rather than making sure their patients will be able to fully recover. Everyone in the injured category went too long without the proper surgery because they wanted civilians and lower ranks to have access first. Even then, the medical team was stretched extremely thin, so- consequences.

Retired: again, in context of "retired from shinobi duty". Majority still have active jobs. Alongside T&I, Ino still runs her flower shop; Tenten sets up a weapons shop right next to it; Shizune is the volunteer hospital head, meaning she doesn't get paid much, and tutors/helps/does paperwork (Sakura is a top medic who occasionally visits for emergencies- she's mostly busy with medical-related missions); Kurenai and The Boys™ teach at the academy; Karui's teammate, Omoi, moved with her to Konoha and he is now the best babysitter in town- though really he mostly looks after Chōchō and Shikadai when their parents are busy. He lives with Karui and her family, they're like siblings.

Konohamaru, Moegi, and Udon were all trained under Naruto during the blank period. However, Moegi was the only one able to reach her full potential because she managed to escape the War with no major wounds. She is now currently stronger than Canon Konohamaru Sensei was.

9. worst part of canon: we all know about this... taka(+orochimaru)s characterization thrown away in the war for jokes or to act as plot devices... i fear i may never forgive kishimoto. the atmosphere wasnt so tense that we needed karin to be crazy about sasuke again + that overt about wanting sasuke to bite her (?!). why is suigetsu acting like he wasnt captured and experimented on by orochimaru but worked for him like karin. why is juugo acting like sasuke is kimimaro when he clearly made the difference before. orochimarus weirdass change of heart because we needed the hokages to show up. or even suigetsu randomly stumbling upon a convenient scroll detailing how to undo shiki fuujin and his first thought (before he meets sasuke again) is to pocket it because it would be useful for sasuke?? like why was it in suigetsus hideout of all places. why does suigetsu even know what it means. im sorry i just dont think orochimaru discussed the matter of his arms & the first 4 hokages souls over the vivisection table and i dont believe sasuke ever brought it up during hebitaka because WHY WOULD HEEE. etc etc etc like am i making sense? they really are just there to move the plot along and play out a joke once in a while. nothing about what happened when taka separated matters at all in the war theyre barely even characters

10. worst part of fanon: 100% the tendency to make everyone friends i think its so boring!!! like in what world are taka invited to karuis wedding? in what world is karin a guest star on the real housewives of konoha (=joining them for brunch). what exactly do temari and karin have in common other than both having the Kishimoto Woman Personality Type #1.

its so much more fun to have characters who just cant stand each other. naruto dislikes taka for literally no reason and its hilarious we should keep it that way. no way im ever believing karui genuinely befriends sakura i think they should HATE having to see each other all the time because their girls are besties. it will always feel more natural &balanced to me + im more inclined to believe 2 characters whove never talked to each other could be great friends if youve also considered who they DONT mesh with at all.

About the last category

SakuLee.. I actually thought they were going to be a thing when I first saw the show because no way Sasuke was ever going to give in to her advances. And I was right about that last part because he didn't. And gradually Sakura was little by little being a bit nicer about Lee when she decided to visit him at the hospital.. and wow!! For her, that's amazing development because at the time and even now her entire character is based on that selfish love (Kishimoto's words not mine) she has for Sasuke. And so she even said to Ino that the flowers she brought with her weren't just for Sasuke- it was explicitly stated in the Manga- so that visual AND text said a whole lot about her... buuuuuut then that went down the drain real fast too. And so, no this ship doesn't make sense but I think it could've been if x, y and z..

ObiRin!! Okay, I know I have KakaRin in the category where I get that people ship it, but not ObiRin- why? Because Rin loved Kakashi and not Obito. And so shipping ObiRin for me doesn't make sense since I am also against other one-sided ships. Rin to me however is an entirely different character from.. let's say Sakura or Hinata and so are the dynamics between them within Team Minato. Rin genuinely cares for both Obito and Kakashi equally, but she doesn't love Obito in a romantic sense. She also didn't chase after Kakashi rabidly trying to get him to like her back, that's why, although Rin showed many gestures towards Obito that really shouldn't be underestimated, I wonder how it would've played out with Kakashi under different circumstances. His resolve and beliefs were already swaying during that mission thanks to Obito- if they succeeded, perhaps Kakashi grew up learning to love that way. Perhaps that would've been Rin. (Or maybe not.)

SakuHina.. just put them together and let them be miserable together? I see many benefits from this tbh. Two of the most selfish characters to have ever existed if not the most selfish characters ever- lump them together, never bother anyone else- problem solved.

SaiIno.. I don't really have a problem with this ship but.. Sai is really gay. I'm sorry but what is he doing with Ino? He found her ugly and they're pretty much together for the sake of.. well kids/next gen stuff. For Ino I think it's fine, Sai sorta looks like Sasuke so it makes sense for her.. but Sai being in love with Ino, canonically? Weird. I know, SaiIno shippers will fight me on it, that's fine, you people have great art though, I'm not complaining.

Jiraiya/Tsunade.. I haven't really seen them being shipped together other than places like IG and Reddit. And some of them were really protective of them- Jiraiya would've always put his WoF above Tsunade which she accepted... why is this a good ship? I don't have much to say for this other than my surprise of their popularity..

Choji and Karui.. apparently their relationship was "explained" in filler novels. Choji simply said he was "interested in her". So they married and made a baby for 'Boruto'. Although 'Boruto-canon', this shit makes no sense.

ShikaIno, look I shipped them. I mean, I used to when I first watched the show because I liked their team-work and I thought Ino's very extra behavior balanced well with Shikamaru's more calm nature. I mean, if anything, he had misogynistic thoughts which he sometimes voiced out loud.. so perhaps a bit ignorant at the time, but I thought Ino was the one helping him with that development partly because of her appearance (since well.. the genre..) instead of Temari, but alas. And I think this is better anyway.

KankuSaku.. LISTEN! Hear me out~ Ship makes no sense at all. BUT. She came all the way from Konoha, saved his life just in time, playing doctor in a way where she didn't need to be all worshipped as a Mary Sue in some weird- godforsaken jail (ESAKA TAKE NOTES), but actually was useful because she learned, developed and took action- then bonded with Chiyo which Kankuro also somewhat has a relationship with- whom he then takes care of the puppets for after she dies.. there are connections and things that can be used to have them bond over. MISSED OPPORTUNITY OKAY- that's all I'm sayin'.

Most of you know how I feel about Sakura, but one of the scenes where I think she DID very much shine (as most of her fans think she so much deserves for some reason)- is when she tried her best to befriend Sai who actually was pretty rude at the beginning. It was Sakura who asked him what he was drawing when she went out to find him and what it meant to him. It was Sakura who tried to figure out more about him to see if she could help him (and their case) somehow- which surprised me pleasantly!! She for once didn't do this for selfish reasons. Now, both Sakura and Sai don't really grasp situations well especially when it comes to Naruto and Sasuke, but they sorta bonded over it a little. “Thank you for coming in, Mr. Uchiha, Mrs. Uchiha.” The principal tapped his fingers against the desk, an exhausted note to his aged face.

“You said Sarada was facing suspension,” Sasuke began, eyes narrowing as the child on the other side of him squirmed in her chair at the reminder. “What happened?”

“My daughter’s never been a troublemaker in her life! I don’t know how it happened, but this is not how we raised her.” Sakura added with a glance of concern to the little girl.

“Ah, yes. Well.” Clearing his throat, the older man pulled a sheet of paper out from the little stack on his desk and turned it so they could read. “Today at recess, she got into an altercation with a boy from another class. There are several witnesses as well as the recess monitor herself, who can verify if needed.”

“Yes, but what happened?” Sasuke pressed, leaning closer to the desk. “That can’t be all. Sarada doesn’t pick fights unless provoked.”

Here, the man paused. He glanced towards Sarada, who up to this point had been quiet. “Sarada? Would you mind telling your parents what happened?”

All eyes on the dark-haired girl, her face flushed with embarrassment and a twinge of upset. “He called Chocho fat, Mama. I had to hit him.”

Sakura’s brow furrowed. “Your friend, Chocho? Chouji and Karui's girl?”

“Yes.” Sarada folded her arms across her chest. “He’s a bully. He always picks on her and I’m tired of nobody doing anything about it.”

“... So you hit him.” Her father deadpanned, his face unreadable.

She pouted. “I didn’t hit him hard…”

“Sarada, I get that you were upset for your friend, but you have to understand that hitting others is wrong.” The principal persuaded, a frown wrinkling his face. “You needed to tell Miss Kuroi--”

“Miss Kuroi knows he’s been bullying Chocho and she doesn’t do anything about it!” The little girl exclaimed.

“Hold on. Wait.” Sakura held up a hand, a stern look directed towards her daughter. “You’ve tried telling an adult.”

“Yes.”

“You told your friends.”

“They saw everything.”

“And your friends told the adult.”

“She just told him to ‘play nice’.” Sarada’s stare was almost as searing as her mother’s as she air-quoted it.

Slowly,  she turned her burning stare on the principal. A bead of sweat trickled down his face. “Why are you allowing your staff to overlook obvious signs of bullying? This is ridiculous. We pay you a good sum of money for a good education for our daughter and this is what you call ‘teaching’?”

“U- um, well, Mrs. Uchiha, Miss Kuroi is new here, and isn’t quite used to our code of conduct…”

“So instead of taking the time to teach your staff how to deal with this, you would rather be content to wait until someone gets hurt - like my daughter punching a bully because he’s hurting her friend - to reap the consequences?” She scoffed, folding her arms, brow pinched. “I am a licensed children’s psychologist, Mr. Hamada. I’ve seen firsthand how abusive behavior between children will lead to emotional and mental issues later in life. I've been that bully before. I know how damaging that can be to a young mind.”

“This is unacceptable,” Sasuke agreed, irritation in his voice. “What about the boy? Has he gotten consequences for what he did?”

“Not for being punched, he hasn’t!” The principal balked. “My staff has had to discipline him once or twice for bad behavior, but he’s done nothing to be suspended over.”

“According to the student handbook, repeated abusive behavior is liable for suspension, regardless if it’s a student or staff member. So you would rather let him bully other students and cause them harm than admit you messed up somewhere?” Sakura’s voice was very close to raising, but a hand on her shoulder from her husband made her take a steadying breath. “Mr. Hamada, I will not be accepting my daughter’s suspension. In fact, if you do suspend her for fighting, we will personally take her out of this school and find somewhere else for her education. I will not allow adults to be bad influences for my daughter in a place preparing her for the adult world.”

“Bad influences? Mrs. Haruno, surely--”

“You will reverse the suspension.” The mother’s voice was a deadly quiet.

“I- I can’t just veto a decision that my staff and I have come together to make,” he protested weakly, shrinking under the father’s glare. “The best I can do is reconvene and-- and have a parent-teacher conference with the Akimichis as well…?”

“And the boy’s parents,” she firmly added.

“And the Garous,” the principal said quietly.

“Make a date, then we’ll talk about suspensions.” The pink-haired woman grabbed her purse and her husband’s arm, rising from her chair. “We’ll be taking Sarada for the rest of the day.”

“Of course, ma’am.” Mr. Hamada nodded rapidly, dabbing at his forehead with a handkerchief from his pocket. “You, uh, you have a wonderful day now.”

“We’ll certainly try,” Sasuke flatly answered, taking Sarada’s hand and leading her out of the room behind his wife.

As soon as the door was shut behind them, Sarada looked up, worried. “Am I in trouble?” She asked quietly.

Almost immediately, Sakura’s fierce expression melted into something soft, and she knelt before her. “No, Sara. In fact, I’m very proud of you. You did the right thing.”

“But… but I got in trouble for punching him.”

"Well, yes, but you did everything I told you to do in that situation: you notified an adult, you got witnesses to tell an adult, and you tried to de-escalate. You only used force as a last resort, not a first."

“You showed restraint.” Sasuke chimed in, making her look up at him. There was a strange sort of amusement in his face. “Had it been your mother, the kid definitely would’ve kept a wide berth after that. You really would've gotten suspended.”

“Anata,” Sakura groaned, cheeks burning red. "I'm not that hotheaded anymore..."

"No," he agreed with a chuckle in his voice. "You're fierce."

Sarada giggled at her mother’s embarrassment, stepping closer for a hug. Her perfume tickled her senses pleasantly, as did her soft pink hair against her cheek.

“C’mon,” the dark-haired man gestured towards the door. “Let’s get some ice cream.”

The joy in his daughter’s face brought a smile to his own as he walked with his good hand pressed gently against Sakura’s back, the little girl’s arms wrapped around her mother’s.

Ur right about the whole slavery system thing in her clan because she doesn't have a lot of agency and like u said, she fixates on naruto to the point where its one of her only character flaws. It's hard to hold it against hinata when she barely feels like a character and it's definitely kishimoto's fault because he as a writer chose not to show her thoughts on her family's system.

I wonder if Kishimoto can actually write female characters if he puts effort and thought into them if sakura cutting her hair and fighting the Sound Nin despite being outnumbered people and skill wise + her fight with sasori, some of temari's moments and Tsunade are any indication and chooses not to or he really is that bad at writing female characters. It feels like he glossed over them or straight up ignored them, even if he didn't mean to

the thing about naruto is that it's just a series of really interesting concepts that kishi never really does anything with. the moments you've mentioned have such potential but he never!!! not once!!! does anything with them. esp if that moment is centered around a woman.

sakura cutting off her hair was sooo good but then he comepletely drops the ball on tenten character. hinata has no real personality outside of being in love with naruto. karui is just there. sakura spends like 3/4s of her runtime being in love with sasuke. literally everything in this show gets sidelined for the naruto/sasuke plotline.

rant aside to answer your question, i think even if he could write female characters he wouldn't. i just dont think he really cares about his female characters as much as he does making his male characters fight. i just dont think he cares which is why i am here to make hinata beat the shit out of her abusive dad :)

Sarada Timeskip Redesign: My AU

My version of Boruto Timeskip is very different because I didn’t like the original story anyway I am a strong believer that everyone loves Boruto now because of his ‘cool’ redesign which essentially destroys his original character and gives him the edgy bad boy look which is NOT what he is.

Sarada fell into a feeling of helplessness when her father left for a second time and Boruto leaving and Kawaki’s betrayal. And having this breakdown does not make her weak she has had something like this before in Gaiden. This would spark her character development in which she’d have to prioritize her goals and what she would be focusing on for the next 3 years until Boruto came back which would bring another hurricane of problems.

Sarada tried explaining to to Chocho that Boruto was actually the Hokage’s son because she was her closest friend but instead Chocho looked at her with pity thinking she went crazy due to all these new changes and tried disproving her since she herself had gone through massive changes in her home life with her dad being put under more pressure and having to step up in his role as the Akinichi clan head with Naruto dying the clan’s began cracking in their trust of Konoha’s leadership and her dad had to deal with that. Karui herself had to reassign her perspective of Konoha and her loyalty to the Cloud village. Chocho thought she was helping but Sarada could only see that her closest friend couldn’t believe her. Her mother was silent she went into a state of Workaholic stress because of Sasuke leaving again. And Sarada couldn’t really trust anyone with her thoughts or feelings especially not Himawari who was dealing with three losses already.

But out of nowhere a hand reached for her that hand was Sumire. Sumire also was unaffected by Eida’s omnipotence it was a shock but she was quickly able to adapt to the situation because she wasn’t as emotionally affected as Sarada. They both became a team they realized quickly that there would be no point in trying to convince Konoha that Boruto was actually Naruto’s son without proof and that proof was hard to find Kawaki was quick to get rid of any traces of Boruto’s legitimacy. Sumire and Sarada worked on finding more about the Otsusuki clan and getting contact with Boruto. They weren’t able to get in contact with Boruto however they did dig around and find more about the Otsusuki.

Different teams in Konoha were working on different goals.

Sarada became more serious about her training perfecting and making more versions of her Chidori her outfit resembling more of Sasuke’s style because Sarada wanted a way to feel closer to her father who she had been on recently reconnecting with before having to let him go again. However Sarada does add her own personal touch to her style. Sometimes she wears glasses and sometimes she doesn’t.

She briefly awakes her Mangekyo during her depression phase but it isn’t fully awakened until a few weeks/months till Boruto’s return when she strengthens her resolve no one except Sumire knows.
