Back to Work/Work in Progress
Marcel went for his 3 month check up this week. Apparently he was flirting with his new female pediatrician, speaking some rare dialect of baby French. He then took a shot in the chubby thigh like a pro. Going to the doctor won’t be so bad for him!
He also seems to enjoy interacting w his fellow “schoolmates” but is a bit distracted and doesn’t always finish his bottles, so he only gained 1 pound since his last check up. But he eats plenty at home and has some decent fat rolls on his thighs and arms, so I for one am not worried about this kid. Marcel is learning to hold his own bottle (a man’s instinct for survival develops young) and Stacee learned that ...she missed Marcel.
Stacee is still having a hard time dropping him off in the morning and going to work. Pumping in the office is no joy, either. But when she picks him up he is excited to see her and their time together is even more special.
She is eating really healthy foods still, but is hanging on to some of the baby weight. She doesn’t have a sweet tooth at all which helps, but until she stops nursing she is going to have to live with those few extra stubborn pounds. In the end, it’s all worth it. When it comes to workouts, weekends are family time but she manages to squeeze in some exercise by walking and doing Pilates. It's been difficult for us to get together to exercise because, understandably, when she gets home from work she wants to be with her baby. As she becomes more used to her new schedule, we will be able to exercise after work one night per week as well.
Final Stats (since 2 weeks post-partum) - she has lost:
2" around the chest
3-1/4" waist
3-1/2" hips
1" around her ankle!
overall weight loss: 12 pounds
Was this a success? Absolutely. As we know, every mom is different in the way her body responds to exercise, whether nursing or or not. Stacee feels strong and continues to see changes in her body that are making her happy. The workouts make her feel good mentally and physically. And she was able to most of it with Marcel close by.
