Me and bestie just started rewatching AssClass so I’m so hyped to write this.

Karma stared at his childhood friend with a mixture of pure shock and a touch of confusion. There was no way in hell that they were thirteen freaking years old and Nagisa had never-

There was no way.

Karma refused to believe it.

The red-haired boy gaped at Nagisa after hearing the words “I’ve never gone” emit from his mouth. “There is no way in hell that you’ve lived here for thirteen years, and have never gone ice skating.”

Nagisa shrugged. “My mom never really wanted to take me. I figured that since I’m older, it would be too late to learn how to do it.”

“Nonsense, dear Nagisa!” Karma chirped, taking the boy by his hand. “It’s never too late to learn a new skill.”

The blue-haired boy waved goodbye to his teacher and classmates, knowing that there was no stopping his friend now.

Sitting patiently on a metal bench, Nagisa kicked his feet as he waited for Karma to return with skates for him. He was a mixture of scared and excited, vibrating in place for a chance to get out on the ice.

He couldn’t help but smile excitedly as he saw red hair appear in the doorway of the Akabane household. In Karma’s hands were the most beautiful pair of black ice skates.

“Okay! I’ll put one on, and teach you how.” Karma knelt down in front of the terribly-hiding-it, giddy Nagisa. He unlaced and slipped off the boy’s boot. “Okay, so watch me.”

The red-haired male unlaced the skate and slid it onto his friend’s socked foot. He then tightened the laces and double-knotted them into a pleasant bow.

“Great. Now, do the other one.” Karma beamed, “They should fit. I mean, we’ve been the same shoe size since elementary school.”

Albeit untidy, the skate was on the blue-haired boy’s foot. He was quite proud of his dainty little bow (which karma had to untie and re-tie for him).

Holding onto his hand tightly, Karma led Nagisa onto the ice. The newbie was practically shaking trying to stay upright.

“Don’t lock your knees, stay fluid.” Karma demanded, kneeling down and gently squeezing. “You’ve gotta-“

He was cut off by a squeak.

“Nagisa?”

“Nothing! Just- I’m cold. That’s all.”

“Cold… right.” The boy pursed his lips and smiled as he returned upright. “Make sure you stand nice and-“

A choked giggle emitted from Nagisa’s lips this time, having felt a hand pinch his side. “Karma!”

“What?”

“Don’t do that!”

“Do what? Help you learn to skate? I think you’re being a little ungrateful here.” The red-haired boy chimed as he released his friend’s hand. It was go time now.

Karma used both of his hands to squeeze at his friend’s sides, eliciting an adorable squeal from the boy next to him. He smiled fondly, remembering times like this from when they were younger.

“GYAH!! Kahaharmahaha!”

“This is your test! Stand up straight!”

The boy closed his eyes roughly in a vain attempt to focus, and did his best to focus on his balance. “Kahaharmahaha plehehehehease! Lehehet mehehehehehe fohohocus!”

“See this is good Assassination training too.” Karma faux gasped, “What happens if you get caught in an interrogation?!”

“Ihihihill tehehell thehehem my nahahahame ihihis Kahaharmahaha ahahakabahahanehehe!”

“Mean, Nagisa, mean.”

“Tohohohoo bahaha-HAHAD! NOHOHOHO! KAHAHARMAHAHA!”

With a Cheshire grin, the red-haired boy began to prod at Nagisa’s stomach. He instantly crumbled and fell on the ice, attempting to bat his friend’s hands away.

“Oh no! You failed! Now I have to tickle you more to make you focus!”

“CMOHOHOHOHON! SOHOHOHO NOHOHOT FAHAHAIR!”

“Wanna give it another go?”

The blue-haired boy tried to reply, but was ultimately stopped by his own peals of laughter. He nodded at began to smack his friend’s hands. “KAHAHARMAHAHA STAHAHAHAP! IHIHIHIM AHAHAHALL DOHOHONE!”

A cheeky grin adorned Karma’s face as he released his attack. Offering a hand to the panting boy on the ice, Karma had every motive to help his friend learn to skate. What he was not expecting was to be pulled onto the ice himself, and pounced on by Nagisa.

A week had passed since the “tutorial”, and Karma decided that he wanted to get on the ice for old times’ sake. He grabbed his skates, and carefully walked outside of his home. When he looked up at the pond, the skates fell from his hand as his mouth hung agape.

Unbeknownst to him, Nagisa now had an audience. With his eyes closed in focus, his feet left the ground as he spun three times through a jump. He landed gracefully on one foot, and sped up on a curve to try again.

Unfortunately, he fell to his butt with a yelp when he heard Karma’s delighted cheers.

worst feeling in the fucking world when the fandom falls victim to the delusions/lies that the character's feed themselves and than those lies are taken to be the True Essence of the characters

like i just finished rereading assassination classroom (for maybe the fifth time?) and focusing on karma + nagisa cus theyre my faves and like theyre fucking liars!!! ik its basically a dead fandom now so most of the content ive been looking at is years old at this point but like they would be sooooo happy to know accurate grasps of their characters are near nonexistent.

like karma WANTS you to think he's a cool genius lone wolf who only cares about his own abilities!! meanwhile basically every single action he takes in the second half of the manga proves each of those traits to be false outright!!!

like hes (sort of) a team player! he knows everyones strengths! hes thinking about other ppls feelings when it comes to the assassination! he's been putting in insane amounts of effort since he failed that one final!

nagisa WANTS you to believe that he's a fully selfless, weak, support player while being pretty much the exact opposite!! but he doesnt work in a team he works best alone! literally w express permission to work fully solo during the war arc! he wasnt thinking of how everyone else felt during his proposal to save korosensei! he wanted to be the one to kill korosensei (somewhat selfishly)!!

the narrative foils are narratively foiling and no one wants to give it the proper respect it deserves smh.

Sometimes I remember that this artwork exists.

And like, seriously what were they thinking?

I mean no shade to Kayano (much love for her in this house) but they could not have made the poor girl look like more of a third wheel if they tried.

There is no heterosexual explanation for whatever Karma and Nagisa are doing in this image? Sure, the shoulder sling can be casual buddies. But one does not simply tenderly grip their bro whilst blushing like this. If Nagisa stood any closer to Karma here he would be ON his feet.

Like I don't know if Karma and Nagisa know how coded this image is in canon here. But Kayano has just a slight glow of vacant despair that suggests she's aware.

Anyway 10/10 one of my favourite artworks.
