"I started a fresh Game of Baldur's Gate to play some real RPG after Veilquard, and I only just noticed how blatantly BioWare tried to copy Karlach with Taash.

1. Both belong to the feared and often despised horned race of their respective universes.

2. Both are completely overdesigned and 'non-traditionally feminine' in appearance.

3. Both are tall, strong frontline fighters with anger issues.

4. Both are missing a horn.

5. Both have special fire abilities and are hunted because of their past.

6. Both are meant to have a similar personality—somewhat simple, but passionate, funny, and loyal.

The emphasis, however, is on *tried*, because BioWare failed spectacularly. The biggest difference is that players (myself included) absolutely adore Karlach, whereas Taash is universally hated. Edit: I got the message I shouldn't tag a character to hate. I don't want to. I want to discuss. I don't hate them, I hate their writing, but I see how many people hate them but not Karlach, therefore Karlach is the same trope. I just wanted to write down my thoughts about that

This has nothing to do with transphobia but rather with how terribly Taash is written.

They follow the same stereotype as Karlach. But while Karlach is incredibly well-written and feels genuine, making people love her, Taav does not. The image the developers wanted to portray with Karlach is exactly what the players perceive.

With Taash, it's different. They are neither 'actually sweet and playful' nor 'actually misunderstood and a good soul.' They are a caricature of a character."

Karlach and Sylvannah’s Dynamic Explained

-Sylvannah was also a slave to Gortash, but in all the ways that Karlach was not.

-Karlach was quite angry at first; when Sylvannah hid her past from her. She thought that they were closer. That they had a higher level of trust.

-Sylvannah knew that when her father sold her to be his bride. He had also done more that day.

-Gortash had sold Sylvannah’s soul to Bhaal for a pretty penny. This is how she became his greatest fighter and daughter.

-Karlach held her close that night after she told her story.

-Sylvannah explained that she did not say anything because she didn’t want to overshadow Karlach’s feelings and trauma.

-If anything she should have told her sooner. Now, they sit around cracking jokes and making fun of Gortash like school girls😂

-They are very close and have kept in touch after the fall of the brain

-Karlach and Wyll have a home in Baldur’s Gate. They came to visit once Sylvannah and Astarion had delivered their twins🥹

-Her kids love her dearly; as does she and Astarion. They love seeing her and they all shout “Aunty Karlach!”

-She eats it right up. She is such a softy😌✨
