What if someone wrote a Karina's Last Days fanfic where her family is forced to relive all those moments when they were terrible to her. Maybe they can feel her pain while they're at it.

Like, literally. The bookshelf falls on her in the library and they will feel the same pain she felt.

They can watch all those moments. See all those moments laid bare. Preferably with someone, not a character, just a very-much-not-impartial observer.

"And here you are planning a party on her birthday. Not for her birthday of course. No we can't have that. What was it again? Graduation? Was the party fun? Just forget all about Karina and focus on what really matters."

"That wasn't-"

"Oh? Got something to say? Now, I'm curious. What was so special about that day that you had to have the party?

"I-I asked father what day would be best. I didn't realize it was her birthday until... until he told her about it later."

"You don't know your own sisters birthday!? How horrible! I know my brother's birthday."

to balance the humors it becomes necessary to cry one's guts out over the course of several hours while reading some manhwa about an emotionally neglected protagonist who's trying to live life for themselves in the midst of impossible circumstances

reading chapter 72 of karina's last days got me feeling like this:

Even Ferriel was like 'damn the audacity of this bitch to pretend to be unaware when I'm the one who told him.' I'm glad he got a prime example of what Karina meant when she said her father only remembers or acknowledges what he wants, up to delusional levels of denial. I also love how, with every word that comes out of count Leopold's mouth, the man is literally digging his grave deeper and giving ammo to Karina's/Milian's arguments he was a neglecting pos of a father.

FUCK HIM UP!! Love how Milian keeps on striking the count's arguments that he was unaware of Karina's state.

For one: she was so fucking sick even back the second she stepped foot in the north that Milian, who knew her for less than 24 hours, could tell! How could her own father (surrounded by dozens and dozens of servants) not realize it? It just means count Leopold never properly looked at Karina, never showed an ounce of caring or worry for his daughter who was so sick a total stranger realized it straigt away.

For two: what would he trust the word of a man who couldn't be assed to attend his daughter's engagement ceremony for? It just goes to prove to Milian that not only did the count not know, but he didn't care or want to know (which is the fault Milian reproaches him for). Ignorance is not a sin, but in the count's case it was deliberate ignorance.

First of all what do you mean everything is a first for a parent when they have a child?? Not only do you have an older son who you propery praised and whose events you attended without fail (even if meant moving Karina's birthday celebrations, which... I'm surprised you even remembered her birthday date), meaning you had childrearing experience by the time Karina was born but also by the time Karina was grown up, you also managed to properly raise, take care of, and dote on her two younger siblings Abelia and Fendon. Miss me with 'I didn't know how to raise Karina' bullshit.

Also love Milian's clapback: even if it was count Leopold's first time as a parent, it was also Karina's first time as a child. And yet count and countess Leopold told her to now behave as a child, they essentially treated Karina like a mini adult and made her her younger siblings' caretaker, robbing her of the carefree and happy childhood she deserved, but also denying her the basic respect she should have had as their child.

'Let us stay by her side' oh yeah like y'all stayed by her side when she was still living with you? Like the way you attended her engagement ceremony or her birthday celebration... oh wait, you didn't, since you were all busy attending Enphric's graduation ceremony or going on picnics.

Good on Milian for leaving this up to Karina to decide: even though he would love nothing more than to throw her family out and barr them from ever seeing her again, I love how he is so respectful of her agency instead of speaking in her names, talking over her or making decisions for her (ahem like the count did, see all of chapter 71 ahem).

This chapter was so satisfying. The count had this coming for a looooong time and it's about damn time he stopped burying himself in denial and was faced with the sheer enormity of the pain he (and the Leopolds) inflicted on Karina. Time to die from regret and guilt.

Another one returning… someday! I hate Karina’s parents. JAEUNHYANG does terrible parents so well.

FL: Karina Leopold, count’s daughter ML: Milian Pastellio Good Doctor: Winston (bad doctor being Nocturn) Friend: Duke Ferriel Carlos

Art Disease is a blessing & curse. In some cases, they can use their craft to find lost things or heal the injured but it might slowly cost them their sight or cause a limb needed for their craft to become paralyzed. Our FL can bring her pieces to life - butterfly? Can fly off the page. Her art disease is killing her.

Summary of Seasons 1 & 2: Karina Leopold’s parents neglected her, gave her things to her siblings, made her take care of her sister, pushed back/canceled her birthday for her siblings, hadn't visited her room in years, had her live in a room down a dark hall, had someone else teach her etiquette, slapped her, said they'd send her to the slums if she complained, & didn't attend her engagement ceremony, so when she learns she has art disease & only a year to live, Karina decides to live for herself, Karina leaves a letter, asks Dr. Winston for some medicine, & takes the 2-month trip North to see her fiancé, Milian.

Karin and Milian fall for each other, but he doesn’t learn she’s dying until later. He only knows she’s sick. Karina tries to push Milian away. Milian tells Karina she's a terrible liar & likes him too. Milian learns she’s dying & still proposes being lovers.

Dr. Winston comes up to take care of her, almost as soon as she leaves, & so does Milian’s friend and patron of the arts, Duke Ferriel - who also helps Karina become famous & holds an exhibit & auctions for her work. Dr. Winston & Duke Ferriel have different types of art disease (doc can find things through embroidery & Ferriel can heal & some other things). Art disease has different tolls on people, Karina created loving parents, enjoyed them for 10 minutes, they tucked her in bed, & she’s dying for it. Karina & Milian know their time is limited & her condition has been getting worse. He has to hunt monsters, so she joins him, but has to return to their home before him. Winston & Ferriel research harons, which are found in monsters & find they might be able to bring Karina back the moment she dies. The more times the monster died & came back, the better quality the haron, so Milian goes after the Head Herta (specific monster that Karina has also drawn for Milian to study & there’s one that listens to her).

After the 2 month trip, Count Leopold (Karina’s father), older brother, & family doctor (Nocturn) arrive. Milian returns in time for the encounter, but hasn't killed the Head Herta. Karina tells the Count to remove her from the family registry or declare her dead, she doesn't want to be his daughter, she'll pay back the money for her nanny & living expenses, & they should pretend not to know painter Karina. She has a seizure. Milian chews them out & says they need to apologize & listen to Karina or GTFO. Ferriel explains Karina's disease. Dr. Winston tells Nocturn he's no longer his pupil & to return his license & nameplate because Nocturn didn’t listen to him. Karina wakes, tells the Count she's not his daughter anymore & doesn't forgive him. He tries to excuse himself as being a first time parent, but he has an older child that received love, 2 younger ones that also did, & it was her first life too. Milian beats up the brother & throws them out. Karina draws a dragon at the End of Winter. Milian goes out for the Head Herta & is seriously injured & Ferriel experimented on himself, so he can't heal Milian with his flute.
