realizing more and more i like the concept of sha/karian more than i do what we were given in-game.  we COULD have had an EXCELLENT friends-to-lovers slowburn that takes place over the space of two games.  the slow building of trust, of companionship.  garrus and shepard meeting up before the omega-2 relay not bcs they’ve agreed to be fuckbuddies but because they’re friends, they gravitate towards each other for comfort.  maybe something happens that night because of the anxiety of the coming mission, but it’s not because shepard walked up to garrus out of the blue going “hey wanna bang?”

maybe it’s my asexual side showing (or maybe my jane austen fan showing) but i think that kind of slow, gradual build would have been SO much more worthwhile than what, imo, felt like a rushed romance in the 2nd game

and their romance in the 3rd game is so sweet!  they’re so unsure!  they haven’t seen each other in MONTHS and they don’t know where they stand!  and that could have meant so much more if their romance in the 2nd game was a gradual “oh my GOD i’m in love with my best friend” sort of thing they only fully came to realize the night before a mission where they thought they might die.

i don't see any thane fans or traynor fans doing this shit so i'm pretty confident garrus stans can learn to behave too

(and yeah i don't hate garrus or shakarian i only hate the insufferable fanbase which has been getting on my nerves for quite some time)
