The stunning villa Arnaga in Kanbo (Lapurdi) was built in a neo-Basque style between 1903 and 1906 for Edmond Rostand, famous for his novel Cyrano de Bergerac.

It also was the place where Catalan composer Isaac Albéniz died in 1909, and the location where ETA staged their dissolution before international personalities in 2018.

Now villa Arnaga is a museum devoted to Edmond Rostand and the house and gardens can be visited all year round.

Not sure if these answers are 100% accurate but here's what I can glean -Not sure what Acht's deal is, it's possible they thought they would be allowed to leave after they were they sanitized but were not, thus they were forced. Framing it like it wasn't their idea could be a memory issue or an attempt to spare Marina's feelings

-Acht came to the surface through the deep sea metro after Eight toppled the system, drawn by Pearl's voice, then years later they got pulled into the spire through their phone when Smollusk went rogue. We don't know exactly when this happened, but it's probably only been a few months

-Order is Smollusk post character development, they started out in their Smollusk form but were "corrupted" over time by the despair of Marina/the unnamed octoling engineers/Agent 4 (probably.) The thing about trauma is that it's misery, but it's misery you know, it's comforting, while recovery is painful and scary. Smollusk's literalistic ai brain interpreted this to mean it would be better if they stayed "safe" and unchanging. They overstepped the limits of their original purpose which is why they turned into a glitchy orb. When Marina confronts them, they say an unrecoverable mentality error has occurred. (Their giant jelly octopus form is presumably a custom model made from a mishmash of preexisting game assets, like the jelletons which Marina said used used to look a lot cuter.) Each time Eight beats them in combat they regress more and more toward their original self, this could be because Smollusk is going through their own character arc or because parts of their code are breaking with each fight.

-The Smollusk program was presumably coded in shortly before the memverse was ready for beta testing, both as the 'final boss' of the tower and as an ai assistant to look after the players in Marina's absence

-I think it's very likely that 4 is Parallel Canon, for a few reasons. For starters that is just a normal inkling model with gray skin and a metal mask, if it was just based in 4's palette data it would probably translate more like how Murch's translated into Elusive Bounder. They're wearing the exact same outfit as Eight, and it's stated that 4 was brought into the memverse early to act a security guard/admin so they've been there longer than anyone else. It is strange that fixing 4's palette doesn't remove the Parallel Canon boss fight, but since recovering from sanitation -and by extension grayscaling- is a choice it's possible that 4 simply refuses to change. (Something something trying to help others with their mental issues when yours are just as bad won't go well)

-Yes, Marina forces sanitized octolings to climb the spire not unlike how Eight does, it's the only way to reintegrate the personality data pulled from kanbo co's servers back into their brains. Unfortunately, the only way to overcome trauma is through more trauma, just like real life. If they get enough of themselves back to decide they want to quit they would presumably be allowed to though, since recovery cannot be forced

-Pearl has a rather blunt and boisterous personality, that's just how she talks about people she doesn't know very well. Marina did not shit on them as far as I can recall

Unanswered things in Side Order

After finishing Side Order, unlocking all the dev diaries, and getting/seeing what I believe is all dialogue lines, I still have several lore questions that never got answered. Figured I’d put em in a post for folks to either answer or speculate about :3

Major main game and post-game spoilers below:

If Acht willingly got sanitized like promotional material confirmed years ago during Octo Expansion’s release, why does Acht suggest that they were forcefully sanitized? One of their early game quotes says that “someone or something there took [their] will away” and that they “were forced to DJ for it”. The way I interpret this is that Acht suggests they were unwillingly sanitized (their final dev diary also kind of suggests this, especially in the art), but it could also be implying that Acht’s sanitization isn’t what they expected it to be…? It could also just be a lore retcon which would suck but. Yknow.

How and why is Acht in the Memverse to begin with? We know that they weren’t there when Pearl, Marina and Eight tested out Dramatic Days in Orderland for the first time, so were they pulled in by Order? If so, how long ago? And how did Marina not know they were in there?

What’s Acht been up to in between Octo Expansion and Side Order? How long after Tartar was defeated did Acht break out of sanitization?

Relating to the above kinda, Acht says they heard a voice that snapped them out of sanitization. It’s later implied to be Pearl’s killer wail in Octo Expansion (Acht later says “I just get the feeling I’ve heard Pearl’s voice before somehow”), but the conversation where it’s first brought up (and Marina talks about developing the Memverse to help sanitized Octarians) Marina says, “…since we’re having this conversation, that means it must’ve worked!” to which Acht replies, “Huh. So that was you, was it?” I could 100% be misinterpreting this but which is it? If it wasn’t Pearl, whose specific voice was it and how did Acht hear it? Also did they regain their pre-sanitization memories back instantly or did they never lose them (I haven’t memorized exactly how sanitization works tho I know it’s explained in Haikara walker). My understanding was that Acht heard Pearl’s killer wail and it snapped them out of sanitization because it killed Tartar, but now I’m not sure.

When were each of Acht’s dev diaries/letters written? The first two seem like they were written before Side Order (implying Acht could’ve been in touch with Marina before they got pulled in), and the final one is definitely after.

How did Acht get to the surface, like their final letter mentions?

Are Order and Smollusk the exact same entity? I know they kind of are but why do they act so different? And why does defeating Order causes it to “transform” into Smollusk? Could it be that Smollusk was an AI originally coded into the Memverse but it got corrupted because of Marina and the octoling’s desire for order?

When was Order created in the Memverse dev timeline? How long had it existed prior to Pearl, Marina and Eight testing it out?

What in the ever-loving FUCK is Parallel Canon? I’m half-joking in saying that and I do like how vague it is, but is it Agent 4 or just using their soul or likeness? The fact that we get its mask does NOT bode well for 4 I think

Does. Does Marina force sanitized Octarians to go through the Spire and fight the Jelletons to get their will/memories back. Do they have to fight Overlorder at the end why are we traumatizing them more-

Spell-Shocked Donatello

 Donatello is trying to assert his independence from his brothers. Donnie is the only one with an actual job, he's a freelance programmer and he sells the tech he develops. He's very reliable but quite aloof.

Donnie also has to handle his control issues resurfacing his desperation to assert his independence and do something more with his life. He desperately wants to go to college and do more with his life

His work isn't as acknowledged as his brothers and he's honestly fine with that, but he doesn't like Splinter pushing him into the spotlight with praise and affirmation.

 it just makes him uncomfortable, Even if he knows splints and his brothers mean well. He wants to go out and see the world. Donnie is the team's navigator alongside being a tech guy. He's been trying to teach his brothers to surf.

Donnie is a Brahminy River Turtle and being a river turtle, has webbed fingers and thus has less finger dexterity than his brothers.

He is able to kind of get around this with the use of his gloves but more often than not,has to ask his brothers for help more often than he’d like. He has invented little prosthetic fingers that extend and retract into the gloves he wears.

Donatello wields a kanbo alongside his tech and sounds like Donald Glover as Marshall Lee

That’s actually something that crossed my mind while watching the series; it’s especially notable since the Wesen world is pretty well-integrated into human society. As in, aside from the Wesen Council and a few other organizations, the Wesen are more or less like 21st-Century humans in terms of civilization. They go to the same schools and shops, have the same level of technology (magic seems pretty rare, really), etc. And considering how the show makes it clear that Wesen discover what they are around puberty, it makes sense that, given the stress that teenagers have even without finding out they’re Wesen, that they would need an outlet--the show also makes it clear that even adult Wesen may suffer from self-loathing, since one episode had a Wesen who was in denial about his nature and instead tried to pass himself off as a Grimm, and upon being found out practically begged Nick to finish him off.

Also, I always wondered who publishes all those neat, vintage Wesen storybooks that Monroe sometimes shows Nick when explaining what the current Monster of the Week is.

Darmanitan that have made their way to Johto have found themselves at home in the mountains, where they come into conflict the Tyranitar line. Evolving to handle this, they've become Ice/Fighting type. Using their flail like arms, they're able to drive most pokemon away from their lairs Johtonian form for day 2 of Region'ovember and the pokemon randomizer gave me Darmanitan. Took Johto's cultural influences into account, but realized that Darmanitan is already based on Daruma Dolls, so I decided to shift inspirations for it to being based on Oni, specifically Blue Oni. Arms are based around their Kanbo Clubs and the patterning got changed to the traditional tiger stripes associated with them. Also thought it'd be interesting to toss it in as a more fitting third member of the elemental punch trio (Electabuzz, Magmar, and Jynx) as I've always felt that jynx didn't fit in well.
