Kamado Family Name Analysis
竈門: Kamado A rare but existing surname, the hearth (竈, kamado) is also an important gateway (門) through which disease can enter a home and make a family sick, so it therefore needed special attention in order to keep the family healthy. Likewise, it required care so as not to cause fire damage. However, it was likewise the source of sustenance for a house’s inhabitants, so the state of a hearth also reflects the state of the family. To say things are lively around a hearth is to say that a family is doing well, to say that the hearth is broken is to say that they’ve lost their fortune, and so on. You could also think of the fire itself sometimes being a cause for danger, something susceptible to evil influence, like how it might burn humans, so it took having a god of the health to protect against that too. These are reasons why the god of the hearth has been worshiped since ancient times, not only for protection from the dangers of fire, but also for prosperity.
As for the the personal names throughout the generations, follow me below...
Sengoku Period (often considered 1467–1568, though other dates are in use):
炭吉: Sumiyoshi Although you don’t typically see charcoal (炭, as sumi or tan) in a name, 吉 isn’t all that uncommon, whether as yoshi or kichi. It means “luck.” It’s worth stating right away that although making charcoal means working with fire for a few days at a time, it also means the longer-term work of forest management. A charcoal worker is nothing without plants. Notice the 山 (mountain, yama) that is also with 火 (fire, often hi or ka) in the 炭.
すやこ: Suyako Presented only in phonetic hiragana, we don’t have kanji to read into, but this is a pretty clever name. Because how -ko makes it sound like a typical girl’s name, similar to her descendants Nezuko and Hanako, the su also makes it feel similar to the rest of her family. Suya doesn’t really mean anything on its own, but suyasuya is an onomatopoeia for “sleeping soundly.”
すみれ: Sumire Another clever one presented only in phonetic hiragana. Sumi makes it sound like she inherited the charcoal family name, but sumire means “violet,” so this is a precursor to later Kamado family naming trends. (However, the flowers she gave Yoriichi were not violets, but Catharanthus roseus—as a fun tidbit, these are called nichinichisou, that is, “sun-sun-grass” (日々草).)
Meiji Period (1868–1912) & Taisho Period (1912–1926):
炭十郎: Tanjuurou (Whatever)+郎(rou) is pretty common in men’s names, since it’s basically like adding “son” to the end of boy’s name. Using numbers in men’s names (like the number 10 here, 十) used to be relatively common too.
葵枝: Kie Although 葵 (aoi or ki) is commonly translated as “hollyhock” (due to being conflated with tachiaoi), it is more accurately translated as “wild ginger,” but this is annoying because even though it has a similar scent, it is not actually related to ginger. Let’s just call this low-growing herb aoi, since it has a lot of religious connotations with ancient shrines and festivals—but this is also annoying, because there is a character named Aoi and her name is written phonetically and might be in reference to the color. So let’s use the Latin name for this genus, Asarum. 枝 (e) is “branch,” so Kie’s name is literally “a branch of Asarum.” But, if we want to go a step further, in older ways of transcribing Japanese, 葵 used to be written phonetically as a-fu-hi with a-fu meaning “to encounter (later on transcribed as au)” and hi being a word representing a god’s power, so it’s said that the a-fu-hi/aoi plant symbolizes coming upon incredible power. How ironic that Kie married into a family known for Hinokami Kagura.
炭治郎: Tanjirou We’ve covered 炭 and 郎, so why the 治? This is a pretty common way of adding the ji sound to a guy’s name (like Hakuji), but why this one instead of, say 次 or 二? This may be because Gotouge wanted to give his name both fire (火) and water (水)! You can see the fire in the charcoal kanji, but the three dots at the left side of 治 are the water radical, which often means the kanji might have some association with water. Although 治 literally means things more like “quell” or “reign” or even “heal,” it can also mean being in control of something like a river.
禰豆子: Nezuko First off, most OS systems do not express this first kanji correctly. The left radical would look more like ネ, with 爾 on the right. Alas, 禰 (ne) is a bit of a rare kanji in the first place, meaning “ancestral shrine.” This is kind of heartwarming what with how connected Nezuko is with her family, and how the checkerboard pattern the Kamado family uses also denotes a continuity of family. As for the 豆 (zu or dzu or mame), this is “bean.” Beans are deeply tied with warding off demons. This is especially seen in the Setsubun custom of throwing beans at demons to cast them off. But, more recently I stumbled upon the knowledge that the kurobe tree (Japanese arborvitae/Thuja standishii), a coniferous evergreen with flattened branchlets, is also called nezuko (in phonetic katakana, ネズコ).
竹雄: Takeo “Bamboo man,” with 雄 (o or yuu or other readings) being a pretty common thing to stick to the end of a man’s name. It’s a kanji with a sort of heroic ring to it if you're adding the masculine -o ending anyway). Fast-growing bamboo (竹, take) can be a problem if, say, you primarily focus on making charcoal out of oak, but bamboo charcoal has a lot of uses for keeping spaces around the home free from humidity and bugs. What’s more, bamboo itself is a bit of a heroic plant—it grows straight, stays strong through the winter, and can stand a lot of pressure and still flexibly bounce back. I've also heard of it being associated with happiness because there is a bamboo radical at the top of the kanji for "smile/laugh" (笑).
花子: Hanako “Flower Child.” The plants are a bit obvious in this one.
茂: Shigeru Another common manly name, “to flourish.” Like plants would flourish.
六太: Rokuta I have tried really, really hard to look for hidden meaning this one. He’s just “six” (六, roku) with another common way of ending a boy’s name, 太 (ta or tai, for grand, broad, magnificent, or fat). Tanjuurou and Kie weren’t feeling very creative by the time they got to this one. Couldn’t you guys at least have given him a plant reference? That would have really helped my meta out, thanks. But maybe not all is lost on this name! After all, remember how we might conflate 火 (fire/hi) with 日 (sun/hi) in Hinokami Kagura? Arguably, the sun is just as important for charcoal workers who manage the forest! 日 is not the only way of writing "sun." There is also 太陽 (taiyou)!
Heisei Period (1989–2019) & Reiwa Period (2019–current):
カナタ: Kanata KAMADO FAMILY, EXPLAIN. First off, nobody else born into the family has a name in katakana, and by the era Kanata is born, this would be pretty unusual for a boy. I can only assume this choice was made in order to make an obvious connection to his great-great-grandmother’s name, カナヲ (Kanao). That being said, did they simply forget to give their eldest son the traditional charcoal name? Or did they notice a plethora of girls throughout this series named “Sumi” and decided to avoid it? In that case, too bad they forgot all about the existence of Ubuyashiki Kanata! (Her name was written in phonetic hiragana, かなた.)
炭彦: Sumihiko Oh good, the Kamado family got their act together and remembered the kanji they were supposed to pass on. As for that -hiko, I’ve heard some Japanese fans try to read into how it was also used in one of Muzan’s fake names, 月彦 (Tsukihiko, as he went by in Asakusa when married to a woman named Rei), but 彦 (hiko) is also so common at the end of men’s names that I don’t see any merit in digging for connections. What we can dig into, though, is 和語 (wago), that is, native Japanese words that existed before the influence of Chinese and the writing system that went with it. Hiko meant “a boy endowed with a divine spirit” (the equivalent for a girl was hime, which you might recognize later became a word for “princess.”) And why stop there? This still brings us back to hi, the divine power that is sometimes just a divine power, sometimes is fire, and often is the sun.
Speaking of the sun, here’s a couple honorary Kamado descendants, because they have really good homage built into their names:
燈子: Touko Remember that 火 (hi) character for fire which you can also find in charcoal 炭? It’s fitting that fiery Nezuko’s great-granddaughter has it built into her name! The 燈 (lantern/tou) has all sorts of hopeful, positive connotations about keeping a light going in the darkness.
善照: Yoshiteru Another clever one! Yoshi is another reading of the zen kanji (善, virtue) used in Zenitsu's name, and 照 (usually read teru in names )also means to “to illuminate.” It’s got a hi too! This time it’s the 日 for sun! Oh! And those four dots at the bottom of 照? Kind of looks like a fire at the bottom of a hearth, doesn’t it? That’s because this is also another radical for 火/fire, it’s just been broken into four different strokes!! He’s got fire and sun!! So much hi! But let’s not forget, hi can also just be a general way of referring to divine power, right? That is essentially what lightning was always thought of—a very, very powerful divine power. And certainly one that illuminates things, doesn’t it? There’s no lightning directly pounded into this name, but the associations are easy to make.
Okay, now really just throwing one more in for fun:
青葉: Aoba This is truly just “green leaves.” Or is it? Actually, the history of different color names across different languages and periods of time is very interesting, and it’s lead to 青 having multiple meanings. Blue and green didn’t always use to be separate ideas, so this kanji used to stand for both of them until 緑 (in Japanese, midori) came along. Nowadays in mainland Mandarin Chinese, you tend to use 绿 (lǜ) for green and 蓝 (lán) for blue, with 青 (qīng) reserved more for a blue/green shade or more generally with youth. In Japan, 緑 (midori) is used for both the color green and for the greenery of plants in general, and 青 (ao) is used for various shades of blue… typically. Sometimes it is still used for “green,” which is why traffic lights are “red, yellow, BLUE,” and sometimes, well, leaves are also called blue. Anyway, because the name is likely in homage to his great-grandmother and because he’s got the kanji to go with his, this is part of why I interpret Aoi’s phonetic katakana name (アオイ) as being in reference to the color (which is also used a lot in her character design) as opposed to the aforementioned plant. (More on Aoi, Kanao, Kanae, and Shinobu's names here.)

I just thought of this idea being inspired by the Yoriichi is Tanjiro’s ancestor AUs: Since Sun Breathing is a lost hidden technique, it’s like a rare treasure waiting to be found.
I’m going to be a little nice and say that Yoriichi’s child lives and marries Sumire Kamado (Suyako’s & Sumiyoshi’s daughter) so the Kamado-Tsugikuni line continues. Yoriichi’s spirit is unable to move on since Muzan and his demons are still out there, he watches his descendants like a guardian angel. Oh lord, the breath founder is going to have a field day if he has to scare his descendants’ many many suitors.
Tanjuro and the rest of his family still live due to luck or smth like that.
So Hashira!Tanjuro’s like, “So you nine want to court my eldest son?” whilst calmly sitting crisscross, not having his signature smile.
The other highest ranking members nod despite their insides twisting a little, “Um yessir!” “That’s right!” “Absolutely.” “Your son is a wonderful person!”
Tanjiro, who’s next in line for his father’s position/rank, says, “Father, they all truly mean it! No casual flings or one-sided false love. I could sense their honesty and dedication.”
Tanjuro begrudgingly agrees, “Very well son, I and the rest of your family shall give them a chance.” He turns to his potential future in-laws, “However, if any of you harm him… you won’t be allowed near us ever again.”
Yoriichi is always ready, watching from the spirit realm, ready to haunt the Pillars if they do anything that hurts Tanjirou. Although he's very tempted to do that anyway because he doesn't like when they get too handsy around him.

A marriage of convenience, part 4: the honeymoon.
Pairing: Yoriichi x you
Summary: Yoriichi's friends think that Yoriichi is too lonely and needs a wife and family to take care of him. They propose a marriage of convenience to a woman who's in need of a husband. The arrangement of the marriage is simple: both parties live their lives as before, y/n takes care of Yoriichi as a wife and Yoriichi keeps unwanted men (and demons) away. Love is not required, friendship is appreciated. However, how detached can one be when living so close to each other?
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9
Series Masterlist
*~*~*~*~*
It's a special day for Yoriichi today. The Kamado family promised to visit today. It's the first time he and (y/n) have acquaintances over. He noticed that (y/n) is somewhat anxious about it. She did her best in preparing food and cleaning the house. It's clear that she wants to make a good impression on his friends.
The Kamados arrive around midday. Yoriichi, (y/n) and (y/s/n) greet them at the door and invite them into the modest house. (Y/n) starts to serve lunch and the rest settles around the small table. It's almost too small for everyone. Maybe we need to get a bigger table, Yoriichi thinks to himself. "So, Yoriichi, have you and (y/n) settled? It must've been quite the change for the both of you.", Sumiyoshi initiates a conversation. "Yes, it was, but we get along fine.", Yoriichi answers the unspoken question by his friend. Sumiyoshi nods content. "That's good to hear.", he decides. At that moment (y/n) brings over the last plates and takes a seat next to Yoriichi. They wish each other a good meal and start eating. Sumiyoshi compliments (y/n)'s cooking and she thanks him with a red tint on her cheeks.
"So, (y/n), we've heard that you have your own business? That must be quite a lot of work.", Suyako asks (Y/n). (Y/n) nods and replies: "Sometimes it is. But it's work I love, so most of the time it doesn't feel like work at all." "That's the best kind of work. It means you've found your calling.", Sumiyoshi points out happily. (Y/n) nods smiling. "Actually, the art of healing runs in my family. My mother taught me as her mother taught her.", (y/n) explains. "So, it's a family business?", Suyako asks. "Well, it's just me these days. But our knowledge has been passed down and expanded over generations.", (y/n) answers. Sumiyoshi nods approvingly. "It's reassuring for us to know that someone with your abilities lives together with Yoriichi. In his line of work, you never know when one comes home hurt.", he states. "I understand what you mean. I worry about this too. But so far Yoriichi hasn't come out with even a scratch.", (y/n) notes. Yoriichi clears his throat and joins the conversation: "I wouldn't want to be a burden to you." (Y/n) puts a hand on his arm that rests on the table. "You could never be a burden.", she exclaims, "You know, Yoriichi really is a low-maintenance man. He never asks for anything or complains.". Yoriichi notices how Sumiyoshi and Suyako exchange glances after seeing (y/n)'s hand on his arm. He pulls his arm away in embarrassment.
"Oh, we totally forgot to ask! How was your honeymoon?", Suyako suddenly exclaims excitedly. Sumiyoshi quickly pokes her with his elbow. Surely that's the last thing Yoriichi wants to talk about. However, when he looks into the perplexed faces of (y/n) and Yoriichi, he and his wife are flabbergasted. "Wait… you did have a honeymoon, right?", Suyaki asks. "Well…", (y/n) starts out. "We haven't had the time yet.", Yoriichi helps her out. At this moment, (y/s/n), who sits next to (y/n), grabs the sleeve of (y/n)'s kimono and points toward Sumire who is settled on her mother's lap. "Do you want to go play?", (y/n) asks the two children who nod in return. "Alright, you don't have to sit at the boring adult table. How about you play some games in the bedroom?", (y/n) says and gets up. She takes the two children to the bedroom, happily to escape the awkward honeymoon conversation.
After (y/n) is out of the room, Sumiyoshi and Suyaki turn to Yoriichi with an outraged expression on their faces. "You didn't take her on a honeymoon, Yoriichi?", Suyaki asks reproachfully. "There was no need for it.", Yoriichi answers calmly. "Of course, there is!", Sumiyoshi stresses, "Especially in your case." "I don't think I can follow. Honeymoons are for newlyweds in love.", Yoriichi states. "I mean, kind of yes," Sumiyoshi replies. "But it's also great to get to know the other person better. Considering you married a total stranger, it would be good to spend some time together and get to know her.", Suyaki explains. "I got to know her here as well.", Yoriichi tries to argue. "Oh really?", Suyaki says crossing her arms, "So what does (y/n) like to do for relaxation?" Yoriichi thinks for a moment. "Tending to her herb garden.", he concludes almost triumphantly. Sumiyoshi and Suyaki exchange appalled looks. "You mean her herb garden from which she makes her medicine that she then sells?", Suyaki says disapprovingly, "That's work, Yoriichi, not relaxation." Yoriichi presses his lips together in a small line. He hates to admit it but he actually has no idea what (y/n) does for relaxation or a hobby. "You see, Yoriichi, a getaway together is not a dumb idea. You'll live together with this woman, well, forever, I guess. You could at least make the effort to get to know her.", Suyaki concludes. Yoriichi stays silent, too embarrassed to admit that Suyaki is right. Sumiyoshi tries to lighten the mood and proposes: "Well, it's not too late for a honeymoon. Why don't you and (y/n) take off a few days? You could walk up to Mount Kameshima. Rent a room at the local village for a few days and enjoy the hot springs. What do you think?" Yoriichi is not happy about his friend's idea. "I'm not sure (y/s/n) would have a lot of fun. He's a really active child, you know…", he tries to worm his way out of this situation. Suyaki gives him a bittersweet smile. "That's not a problem. He can stay with us. That way you can really get to know your wife." Yoriichi looks at her defeatedly. Seems like there is no way out of this. Suyaki claps her hands together and stands. "Then it's decided. I am going to tell (y/n) about this.", she says. Sumiyoshi looks at him apologetically. "I'm really sorry, my friend. Once my wife sets her mind to something, there's no going back."
*~*~*~*~*
The atmosphere is so thick one could cut it with a knife. (Y/n) and Yoriichi walk silently beside each other. After they dropped off (y/s/n) at the Kamados, they started their walk up to Mount Kameshima. Since the drop-off, they haven't really spoken to each other. (Y/n) tried to stir a conversation a few times but quickly noticed that Yoriichi wasn't in a good mood. It's clear to her that he's rather upset about the whole honeymoon idea. While they make their way up the mountain, (y/n) gets lost in her own thoughts. When Suyaki told her about the honeymoon, she was surprised but not opposed to it. She can't see what Yoriichi's problem is with this. The lines are drawn and it should be obvious that they won't be crossed at home or in a nice guest house at a hot spring. (Y/n) can't remember when the last time was that she had a day off. She loves (y/s/n) dearly, but being a mother also means always being on duty. She can't wait to hit the hot springs and relax for a couple of days. Suyaki was so nice and organized the whole thing for them. All Yoriichi and (y/n) had to do were pack their bags.
It will take them half a day to walk up to the local village. (Y/n) prepared some lunch boxes for both of them. Since it is their holiday, she even went all out and baked some cake with sweet icing. They only had a quick breakfast and they're already halfway there. (Y/n) starts to get tired and feels her stomach rumbling. "Hey Yoriichi,", she says almost out of breath, "Can we take a break somewhere soon?" Yoriichi still looks as fresh as when they started their walk but nods when he sees the slight layer of sweat on (y/n)'s forehead. "Great!", (y/n) beamed, "But I want to have lunch with a view! Let's see if we can get away from these trees so we can look onto the valley.". The two leave the path and walk for a while until they find a spot close to the edge of the mountain. They sit down beneath a tree and (y/n) takes out the lunch boxes. They start eating in silence. It's a nice day. It's warm and sunny but not too hot. (Y/n) closes her eyes for a moment and enjoys the cool breeze on her face and hair. She doesn't notice Yoriichi staring at her. Yoriichi clears his throat. "So, what do you wanna do the next days?", he asks her. (Y/n) crooks her head. "Hm, good question. I definitely want to soak in the hot springs! I've also heard that there are some caves around this area to which locals offer guided tours to.", she says. "Caves?", Yoriichi asks uncertainly. (Y/n) nods, "Yes. There's a creek that flows through a cave system. Part of it can be safely explored on small boats. It's a tourist attraction around here." "We can do that if you want to.", Yoriichi notes. (Y/n) smiles at him happily. Yoriichi starts to feel a bit bad. It's clear that (y/n) is excited about this trip and he would prefer to be anywhere else than here. "Is there anything you would like to do?", (y/n) asks him. Yoriichi shrugs, "Not really." (Y/n) expected this answer. "Well, we can also split up somewhen. You don't have to do all the things I would like to do.", she proposes. Yoriichi can't meet her eye at that. Clearly, she noticed that he doesn't want to spend time alone with her. "Hey", she nudges him, "Just because Suyaki calls this a honeymoon, it doesn't have to be one. For me, it's just a kid-free vacation. You won't have many of these in the future, so you should make sure that you enjoy it!". (Y/n) gives him a lopsided grin ad Yoriichi relaxes at that a bit. They finish their meal in peace and then continue their journey.
(Y/n) is exhausted by the time they arrive and even Yoriichi feels a bit tired. The guest house they are staying at is run by a nice elderly couple who have already been waiting for them when (Y/n) and Yoriichi make their appearance at their front door. Mrs. Nakamura shows them their way to the room. "This guest house is often booked by newlyweds. So I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.", she explains as they arrive at the door. "We also took care of your extra requests. If anything is missing, just tell us.", she says as she quickly disappears into the hallway. "Extra request?", (y/n) wonders out loud and Yoriichi only shrugs. When they enter their room, they quickly notice what Mrs. Nakamura meant. In the middle of the room lies a large two-person futon with rose petals on top which form a way to the front door. There's also a bottle of sake and some mochis on a table near the wall. "This must be Suyaki's work.", Yoriichi notes. "That's for sure.", (y/n) deadpans. She walks into the room and puts down some of her luggage. As she turns around to Yoriichi, she asks: "But she's aware of the circumstances of this marriage, right?" Yoriichi nods. "She is, but she's also a hopeless romantic.", he points out. "Or she likes teasing us. I'm sure we can ask Mrs. Nakamura for another Futon.", (y/n) says softly when she noticed how Yoriichi kept staring at the futon. He nods and says: "Right, let's do that.". "Like right now?", (y/n) asks. She hoped they could freshen up a little bit first. She's desperate to get out of the clothes she's wearing. "It's fine. I go, you can stay.", he says, as he turns for the door.
"I am really sorry for the inconvenience. Newlyweds usually take a futon like that.", Mrs. Nakamura apologizes after Yoriichi stated their case. Yoriichi shifts uncomfortably. It is usual. Indeed it is unusual for them, a married couple, to ask for separate futons. "You see," he tries to explain, "I didn't really know (y/n) before we got married.". Mrs. Nakamura gives him a knowing glance. "Oh, young man, don't worry about that. First time I saw my husband was at the altar and everything worked out fine.", she says reassuringly, "But it's very considerate of you. I will put a second futon in your room so you have a choice tonight." Yoriichi feels his cheeks burning up. Clearly, Mrs. Nakamura had the wrong idea why they didn't want to sleep in the same futon. He thanks her nevertheless and walks back to their room. Still deep in thought, he opens the door without knocking. He's face to face with (y/n) in an open kimono. Instantly, (y/n)'s face turns beet red. He quickly slams the door closed. Taking a deep breath, he leans against the door. He waits outside while (y/n) finishes changing. Eventually, she leaves the room. Her cheeks are still slightly red and she can't meet Yoriichi's eyes. "So, uhm, you want to change too?" she asks. "I'm ready to hit the hot springs.", she points out while holding a bag with a towel. Yoriichi nods and quickly changes behind the closed door as well. When he's done, they walk to the nearby hot springs. Yoriichi's glad that the hot spring is divided into an area for men and one for women. He doesn't think he could handle a mixed bath after what just happened.
After they've soaked in the springs for a while, both of them leave the bathhouse a lot more relaxed than before. By then, it's already early evening. "Wanna take a stroll and then look for a place to eat?", (y/n) proposes. "Sure.", Yoriichi agrees. They walk through the village for a bit. They eventually find the market square. (Y/n) asks a local when the next market will be. The woman explains to her that the next day there will be a normal market in the morning and in the afternoon, there will be a handcraft market. (Y/n) thanks her and walks back to Yoriichi. He sees her eyes glistening excitingly. It's clear she's excited about the news. "Would you like to go to the handcraft market tomorrow?", he asks her. (Y/n) nods vigorously. "Absolutely!", she exclaims a bit too loud. "But you don't have to tag along.", she quickly adds. "It's fine. After all, I asked you.", Yoriichi answers. Also, it's not like he has anything else to do. "Great.", (y/n) smiles, "Then let's find a place to eat."
After a good meal, the two of them arrive back at the guest house. They take turns in the bathroom and get ready for bed. While (y/n) is in the bathroom, Yoriichi rolls out the second futon and sits on top of it. "Are you already tired?", (y/n) asks Yoriichi after she enters the bedroom in her sleepwear. Not really, Yoriichi thinks. After all, he's used to staying up late into the night chasing demons. However, he also doesn't know what else to do with (y/n), so he just gives her a shrug. (Y/n) pulls out a deck of cards. Yoriichi doesn't recognize the design of the cards. "My sister got this for me during her travels abroad.", (y/n) explains, "Do you want to play? I can teach you some games." Yoriichi gives her a nod and (y/n) starts shuffling the cards. (Y/n) teaches Yoriichi a variety of games. It turns out that he's terrible at a game called Cheat which (y/n) finds especially amusing since she manages to sniff out his lies despite his never changing facial expression. Yoriichi beats her a couple of times at a game called Rummy. At that, (y/n) mumbles something about a blind chicken which Yoriichi doesn't get but also doesn't ask about. Eventually, it gets late enough to go to bed and the two settle in their respective futons.
They lay facing one another but it's dark enough that they can't see each other's faces. Yoriichi can't fall asleep and according to (y/n)'s breathing pattern, she's not asleep either. "Hey, Yoriichi?", (y/n) asks into the dark. "Yes?", she hears somewhere next to her. "Is it really okay for you to be on this trip to me?", she asks him. Yoriichi knows there is only one right answer to this question, but he doesn't want to lie to her. "I don't feel comfortable."; he tells her truthfully. (Y/n) knew this, of course, but hearing it from him still stings. She turns away from him and stares at the pitch-black ceiling. "I'm sorry Suyaki made us do this.", she says. She hears Yoriichi shifting in his futon. "She meant well," he replies, "I'm sorry that I'm not as excited as you. I'm ruining the mood for you." (Y/n) has to smile at that. Yoriichi doesn't let it on, but he actually cares a lot about other people's feelings. "Is there anything I can do to make it more comfortable for you?", she asks him. Even though (y/n) can't see him, he shakes his head. "No, this is in my head. Nothing you can do about it.", he answers her. (Y/n)'s silent for a while. "You know," she says quietly, "I had a whole honeymoon planned out. Everything was already booked and paid for. I was more excited about the honeymoon than the actual wedding. The wedding was for the others, our family and friends, but the honeymoon… that was supposed to be just for us." (Y/n)'s voice sounds less steady at the end and Yoriichi feels his heart sink. How selfish of him, he thinks, of course, she's hurting too. The whole day he was all gloomy thinking about how he shouldn't go on a vacation like this with any other woman than Uta. He turns his head in her direction. "How do you do it?", he asks her. "Do what?", she replies. "How can you be so happy about this vacation? How can you think about anything else but him?", he clarifies. (Y/n)'s stunned at that for a moment. With a stoic man like Yoriichi, it is easy to forget that he can feel this deeply. "This is not a honeymoon for me. It can't be. If I would entertain that thought, I couldn't be like this.", she says into the dark. Yoriichi can feel his eyes burn. "Will this ever get better?". Yoriichi doesn't notice that he says this out loud. (Y/n) turns back to him. "I'm not sure I even want that", she tells him, "Wouldn't that mean we're forgetting?". Yoriichi doesn't trust his voice, so he only shrugs. "I don't want to forget", (y/n) concludes. "You shouldn't hurt so bad though.", Yoriichi states quietly, "I wouldn't want that." (Y/n) has to smile at that. Yoriichi really is a sweetheart. She reaches out for him with her hand. After some searching, she finds his face. She gently wipes the quiet tears away she knew that would be there. "I don't want that for you either.", she says. Yoriichi touches her hand and squeezes it lightly. "Hey, how about this? Let's make this arrangement about not forgetting but stopping hurting.", she proposes. "That sounds like a good idea.", he replies. (Y/n) pinches his cheek. "Then let's start tomorrow. Let's think about them and have a good day.", she says. "Okay.", Yoriichi whispers. (Y/n) pulls her hand away. "Good night, Yoriichi", (y/n) whispers back, "I hope you dream about her."

Lee! Yoriichi and Ler! Sumiyoshi and Suyako?? Pliss
Of course! In the manga/anime, Yoriichi showed a great approach to family! (Artist name is in the images) (I also added Sumire-)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lers: Suyako, Sumiyoshi and Sumire Kamado
Lee: Yoriichi Tsugikuni
"After Yoriichi gave me his precious earrings, I thought I would never see him again... I felt that this gift marked a farewell... Am I wrong...?", Sumiyoshi thought, he was not sure what it had happened to his friend, they constantly talked through letters, but there was nothing more to it than that.
That was their communication until one day...
'Hey Sumiyoshi! Don't you know what I found on the way back home... Or rather... Who!', Suyako announced excitedly, pulling at the haori of her husband, who had his back turned. 'Is it a squirrel? Or is it maybe...'
'Hello... Sumiyoshi...', that voice... Sumiyoshi turned around quickly, shook his head and rubbed his eyes, he couldn't believe it, was he dreaming? 'What's wrong dear...? I thought you'd be happier to see Yoriichi-San... Maybe-?'
Suyako jumped to the side a little when Sumiyoshi rushed to hug her companion, smiling when she saw him hug Yoriichi, it had been a long time since she had seen them together.
After that hug, they invited him to stay, well, more like they forced him a little, his 'it's not necessary' was totally ignored by the couple. 'It's been a while... How have things been...? Anything new to tell?'
'I don't know... Everything has been a bit confusing, there are things that my mind needed to think better... And I apologize for that, for the way you hugged me and how you expressed yourself, it seemed like I worried you...Excuse me for that', Sumiyoshi patted his shoulder, assuring him that everything was fine.
For Sumiyoshi, seeing his friend again was more than enough. Besides, he wasn't the only one who had missed his presence. 'Dad!'
'Huh? Oh, what's wrong Sumire?'
'This is Sumire...? Wow... Did I really isolate myself for so long? The last time I saw her, she was just a baby, she's grown up a little...'
Sumire looked at him confused, she had never seen him before, although her parents always told her the story of how he saved them, she didn't know that it was about him.
'Sumire... Meet Yoriichi-San. You remember him, right? Your mother and I always tell you about him! Besides, he used to carry you when you were very little... I remember your little smile when you saw how he approached our house...', the little girl approached, bopping Yoriichi's nose and then grabbing his cheeks with curiosity
'She seems to like you hahaha! Sumire has also missed you a lot, she used to wait for you every day and she would get sad when she saw that you didn't arrive... But we never let her forget about you!'
'Did she really do that...? Forgive me, little girl... I didn't mean to do it', he sighed and sat the youngest on his lap, stroking her head and looking away.
Sumiyoshi frowned and motioned to his daughter, who nodded laughing. 'He-hey! Su-Sumihire!'
'Ooooh, is that a giggle you just heard~? Hmmmm? It is not? Then why do I see a smile on your face~?', he laughed, thus encouraging the little girl to continue.
Sumire's hands began to rise Yoriichi's neck, smiling while he himself tried not to wrinkle his neck to let her continue. 'Ooooh? Aren't you avoiding stopping Sumire? How adorable!'
'I-It's juhust... I do-dohon't wahant to h-hurt her! Sumihiyohoshi! Stahahap heher!'
'Mmmm... Why should I? You obviously like this! Come on Sumire, give your father some space! Here I come Yoriichi~!
Yoriichi didn't even try to get away from him, his only attempt was to raise his hand while asking him not to come closer, but that only encouraged his friend to join his daughter. 'Wahahahaihit! Sumiyoshi plehahasehehe!'
'Mmmm? Please what? Be more specific Yoriichi-San! Do you want us to continue? That you want?! Did you hear that Sumi?! He wants us to continue!', the little girl laughed and nodded, this time she lowered her hands and began to press on his ribs.
Both she and her father laughed as they noticed how Yoriichi moved his arms that were covering his ribs away and tried to keep them away.
His excuse was 'not wanting to hurt them', but they both knew he was just too shy to admit he was having fun. 'What's happening? Have I heard some laughter? Oooooh! Is it tickling time?! What fun!'
'Suhuyahahakoho-Sahahahan! Stohohop thehehehem!! W-wahahaihit!! Nohohot yohohou tohohoho!! Thihis is so unfahahair!!'
The tickling continued, none of the three moved from the spot they had chosen to tickle, Suyako had his neck, Sumiyoshi his hips and Sumire his ribs.
'He's laughing a lot, isn't he? But maybe not enough... What if we try to make him really laugh?!', there was no need to convince them, they both agreed.
Suyako lowered her hands to his thighs, squeezing them gently, but it wasn't the reaction she was looking for; Sumiyoshi tried his knees, all he earned was a squeal.
Apparently they could only get him to laugh up to that volume, his laughter didn't increase!
'Mmmm... His sides! Dad mom! Help!', they both looked at what the little girl was pointing at.
No one had noticed that Yoriichi was covering his sides, at the moment when Sumiyoshi had decided to go for his hips, to avoid having his sides tickled, he decided to choose to cover them. 'Oooh! Good observation! Honey, do we do the honors~?'
'With great pleasure!'
'W-wait... Let's talk about this!'
There was no way, Sumiyoshi and Suyako took Yoriichi's hands away from his tummy, thus giving Sumire the opportunity to make him scream, or at least try to...
'HEHEHEY!! O-OKAHAHAY YOHOHOU GOHOHOT MEHEHE!! YOU CAHAHAN STOHOHOP NOHOHOW!!'
'Stop? Hmmm... Well, we'll stop, with some conditions~', Yoriichi looked confused.
What did he mean by "conditions"?
'The first is that you must admit that you like this!'
'HUH?! BUHUHUT-!! AHAHAHAHA!!! OKAHAHAHAY!! I LIHIKEHEHE EHEHEHEHE THIHIHIS!!'
'Hmmm, what exactly is "this"? Be more specific Yoriichi-San!'
Suyako laughed and playfully pushed her husband, after a while of laughing, they both stopped. 'That is better! You have a very nice laugh, Yoriichi-San!'
Sumiyoshi nodded, walking over to his friend to make sure he was okay.
'And what is the second request...?'
'Smile more often or else...-!'
'You'll tickle me... I get it... I'll try to comply...', Yoriichi stood up, using his fingers to form a smile for them.
Definitely, both Suyako and Sumiyoshi missed that smile...

You Make Them Laugh
| Masterlist |
Tanjiro:
It's really easy to get Tanjiro laughing. Usually it's a well-timed joke or something funny you do or say that gets him going. He's genuinely good-natured about it, so it doesn't take long at all for you to join in.
Nezuko:
Nezuko doesn't laugh often, but you're usually the one who gets her laughing. Whether you tickle her or tell her a joke, she starts giggling and it's hard not to join in.
Zenitsu:
Zenitsu is extremely easy to get going. All you have to do is tell him something funny. If you're telling a joke, he starts giggling at it, which makes you start giggling at it, and it spreads to the rest of the group until Inosuke's likely the only one who doesn't get it.
Inosuke:
If you want him to laugh in amusement, just be yourself. He doesn't laugh often, but if he sees you run into a tree he'll start to guffaw while you try to get your bearings. He's not laughing at you, per se, he's simply laughing because, well, who doesn't like good ol' slapstick humor once in a while?
Giyuu:
It's pretty difficult to get Giyuu to do anything other than a quiet chuckle. But sometimes (AKA, when he drinks), he'll let loose and let more of his emotions show, and it's a piece of cake to get him to laugh. He doesn't drink often, but when he does, he usually has to drink a metric ton to actually feel drunk. He gets giggly for a while, and just about anything you do will get him busting a gut -- but watch out, because that won't last long.
Kyojuro:
It's really easy to get Kyojuro to laugh. He does it all the time! But if you wanna make him laugh, just crack a joke or do something funny. His laugh is big and booming, kind of like the man himself.
Muichiro:
It's a bit of a challenge to get Muichiro to do more than a quiet laugh. If you want him to damn near bust a gut laughing, you'll have to wait until Tanjiro is visiting. Boy, can that boy make him laugh! It's like a switch gets flipped as soon as he sees him, because any bad mood he has immediately melts away and he's more likely to laugh. You'd be jealous, but hey, it's Tanjiro.
Shinobu:
Shinobu doesn't laugh often, but when she does, it's quiet. If you really want her to laugh, you'll have to be yourself. Telling her a joke will usually get her chuckling, or perhaps if you start goofing around with the triplets she'll be giggling at your antics.
Gyomei:
Gyomei doesn't laugh often, but it's not hard to get him going. Usually if he laughs, it's a quieter chuckle, but you being you, it's not hard to get him really laughing. You both have a running joke where you'll take Daikon and do a funny voice while making him 'dance', and that usually gets a good laugh out of the giant.
Sanemi:
Sanemi doesn't laugh that often. Like, at all. Unless you get him drunk, of course, because then he'll laugh at damn near anything you say or do. Get him to pound back a few shots of sake, and he'll be cackling even if you trip over a pebble.
Akaza:
Akaza laughs pretty regularly around you, mostly if you're alone. He feels more comfortable with you than anyone else, and you make him happy. Do something silly? He'll be laughing right there with you.
Douma:
Douma laughs quite a bit around you, and not just those boyish giggles behind his fan. Usually just you being you is enough to make him laugh, but if you do something especially silly, his laughter will echo around his inner chamber.
Kokushibo:
Kokushibo never laughs. Ever. Call him a killjoy, label him a party pooper, but he doesn't show much emotion around you unless 'soft' counts as an emotion, because he gets  s o f t  around you sometimes.
Muzan:
It's not hard to get Muzan to laugh. Usually you just have to be yourself. You amuse him more than anything, so even when you act silly he finds time to chuckle at your antics.
Yoriichi:
Yoriichi doesn't laugh often, but when he does, it's a soft chuckle. Usually it comes when you prod it out of him, mostly by playing with Sumire or doing something funny with the Kamados.

Well, briefly recalling the question where nezuko and mitsuri kick Muzan's crotch and how that would be useless...what if nezuko sets him on fire?
Ah yes, this Ask, in which we examined the crotch weakness question and I arrived at the conclusion that he wouldn't be particularly weak there. We do know he is weak enough against regular fire to have it slow his regeneration, however slightly--hence, the explosion in Chapter 138 and Sanemi's surprised oil and match technique in Chapter 185. We also know that Nezuko's fire works specifically against demons, and she hates Muzan so much that just being around more of his cells empowers her to develop newer and more powerful skills more rapidly, like when she faced Daki (and for that matter, Rui).
Yes, I think we're on to something here. Ufufu.
I was just pondering the other day how much shorter of a series this would be if Nezuko went running after Tanjiro in Asakusa that night, for she'd have gotten pissed off at Muzan right away and probably developed some anger-driven power, but seeing as she's still not that powerful of a demon when facing the Swamp Demon--quick to get thrown off by a single injury, slow to recovery, very quickly in need of sleep--she'd be killed immediately if she tried to attack Muzan as she was. Ultimately, Nezuko's power started off from the cells of Muzan inside of her, and although she developed it through her own will, it would take a lot for her to be strong enough to take him on and hold her own.
However! As you said, the secret here is fire, something rare among demons who already have an innate desire not to get burned--one of the few things Muzan fears! I think we can say that part of her abilities is being a Kamado, with generations and generations of fire workers before her. Even if she didn't inherit the red eyes which all her siblings did, or the extra red tints that Kakushaku-no-Ko Tanjiro did, she still has that background in her blood.
However... Kakushaku-no-Ko Tanjiro sure showed her up with how much faster he mastered the sun than she did. I suspect this is both due to his extra-looking inheritance of whatever fire-related blessings their family inherited through careful generations of work (life's not fair if you're not an eldest son, I guess), as well as the effect that practicing Hinokami Kagura may have had on his body, which primed it for quick mastery of the sun. Tanjiro was believably more powerful than Muzan, and had a whole lot more of Muzan's blood in the first place. Nezuko's got the family background too, but she had to rely so much more on her own willpower. (Nezuko, girl, you're amazing.)
So! Let's take Nezuko at her potential strongest. Nezuko's had a really good nap! Nezuko's mastered the sun! Nezuko's got humans to protect! Nezuko's got the love and support of her brother! Nezuko's got rage in the presence of her family's killer! Nezuko's got... a butt-chin!!
If we take Nezuko at her very strongest, spilling just about all the blood she's got, I think she could do very, very serious damage. Would it be enough, though, to demolish him quickly enough that he doesn't kill her first? Even if the curse doesn't affect her, that's not his only way of squashing demons. Tamayo showed us that she could battle Muzan will willpower and retain some form for a very long time before ultimately being reabsorbed into him, and Nezuko's will is strong enough that she might stand a chance, but...
I think the safer bet would be Tanjiro using Hinokami Kagura's 13th floor first--using it to the very best of his potential abilities, though that would probably still put him no where close to Yoriichi, and Tanjiro was still no where near this when he had no choice but to use his imperfect Hinokami Kagura against Muzan. But, if he could do even partially what Yoriichi accomplished, then Nezuko would probably have a safe bet of burning the last of that flesh away forever.
Here's an AU--maybe if the timeline were a little different...

Demon Slayer Role Swap - Yoriichi And Michikatsu
Yoriichi and Kokushibo swapped roles with Tajiro and Nezuko.
Plot Points:
Yoriichi and Kokushibo have the same backstory as they do in canon.
Eventually, Yoriichi decided to go back and visit his brother, who was now in charage of the household.
Turns out that Muzan attacked the night before Yoriichi arrived.
Yoriichi arrvies to discover the scene, but finds that Michikatsu was still alive.
Yoriichi ends up getting pinned by Michikatsu, like how Tajiro was in canon, but instead of an axe it's a wooden sword
Gyutaro ends up finding them and hesitates to killed Michikatsu, since Yoriichi protecting Michikatsu reminds him of how he used to protect Ume.
Consequently, Gyutaro gets knocked out by Yoriichi in the same way Yoriichi knocked out that one subordinate.
Yoriichi apologises to Gyutaro for knocking him out, then Yoriichi begins his journy to become a demon slayer and find a way to turn Michikatsu back into a human.
Character Info - Yoriichi
Age - 16 yrs old at beginning, 20 at the end.
Appearacne - Long red and black hair that's tied into a ponytail and short bangs with maroon colored eyes. Wears a red haori over his demon slayer uniform along with a pair of hanafuda earings gifted to him by his mother. Is expressionless with most, unless the person is someone who he is close to. A flame-like mark peaks out from a corner of his forehead.
Weapon - Black Nichiren Sword
Breathing Style(s) - Sun Breathing + Almost all the Other Breathing Styles (Certain breathing styles are not used due to requiring the user to have a specific thing. Example - Ribbon Breathing, which requires the use of ribbons instead of a sword)
Slayer Mark? - Yes
Species - Human
Additional Information -
Like in canon, Yoriichi is married to Uta and has a child on the way. However, Uta does not travel with Yoriichi on his journey, because baby, and instead, she stays with Sumiyoshi, Suyaka, and Sumire for most of the plot. She still communicates with Yoriichi via letters.
Yoriichi does not invent Sun Breathing. Instead, he learned the Hinokami Kagura dance from the Kamado family, who are decendants of Tajiro Kamado, who invented Sun Breathing in this AU.
Yoriichi later becomes a Pillar, since there are only 8 pillars by the time he meets them.
Yoriichi doesn't encounter Muzan at Asakusa, instead missing him and instead meeting Kanae and Shinobu. Yoriichi does encounter Muzan during the Final Battle.
Character Info - Michikatsu/Kokushibo
Age - 16 yrs old at beginning, 20 yrs old by the end.
Appearance - Red and black hair tied in a ponytail along with 3 pairs of eyes, all of which have red sclera and yellow irises. He wears a purple and black hexagonal nagagi kimono and a black umanori-styled hakama.
Weapon - Nichiren Sword
Breathing Style - Moon Breathing
Demon Art - Cresent Moon Blades (these blades can pass though humans and only hit demons + demon made objects. He can also absorb demon blood/blood arts/demon related things to create these blades. The thing absord affects what effects these blades have.
Slayer Mark - No
Species - Demon
Additional Information -
In this AU, Michikatsu fights alongside his brother, growing the 4 additional eyes to be able to keep up with Yoriichi. He is, however, not an offical member of the Demon Slayer Corps, never having acutally taken the Final Selection.
Michikatsu was jealous of Yoriichi as a human, but that jealousy is forgotten when he becomes a demon.
Yes, Michikatsu is carted around in a box during the day and yes, he does turn into a child to fit.
Michikatsu learned Moon Breathing after reading a journal given to him by Kanae that belonging to Nezuko . He is able to mostly master it by the time of the final fight.
Michikatsu's children and wife are dead. Straight up dead.

me: selling you a meta about how the Rengokus and Kamados are more connected than you think and how they, who are Yoriichi's closest friends and found family and are the only ones that pass the knowledge regarding Hinokami Kagura/Hino Kokyuu but seeing as two very different things (a dance vs a weapon) is an allegory to Yoriichi's inner turmoil, how despite hinted as the so-called Fire God, the Kamados' ancestral memory of him is of a tragic lonely, hard-working guy while the Rengokus who despite his comrade and the only other loyal hashira to defend him even after they found out koku turned into a demon, wrote him in their records as this godly legend who they will never find again because he's the originator, the Chosen One. Maybe there's a poetic justice behind Rengoku failing to catch the demon he's hunting to find Yoriichi's family dead already, meaning what they both seek are different, and despite how noble and virtuous it is, Yoriichi can never fulfill that, not alone at least, not taking all the responsibility himself
Sumiyoshi symbolizes his inner self, he longed for the quiet life like Sumiyoshi and Suyako's family, and he longed to hold his own baby, but he can only help them, accompany them, talk to them, have tea with them because he knows he's fated to not live a normal life unless Muzan is dead. On the other hand, Rengoku symbolizes the corps, he symbolizes the war, he symbolizes the self-sacrifice Yoriichi had to make to do what he's meant to do, for the sake of atoning his so-called failures and that is why I feel generally speaking, Yoriichi won't hide the Kamados from Rengoku's knowledge but him leaving the earrings to Sumiyoshi and walking away never to be known or seen is a way for him to say that if they are fated to meet then they will. If the war is over then Yoriichi's inner turmoil is over!
and I swear I'm not pushing anything but it's just so interesting seeing the many coincidences. The Kamados hold the knowledge of the whole twelve moves while the Rengokus hold the knowledge that there is a secret thirteenth move and it's just so ackkkk, like the hints are there and the ending is like that and you can't help but dig deep into it okay
also me: yo what if yoriichi met hikomomo and he'll be like...
"Sumire, look how big you've gotten," and
"Are you perhaps Rengoku's son?"
and "How did you two meet?"
and hikomomos are just like ...
he's gonna be so happy because wow, Rengoku joined the quiet life gang? lol no seriously just imagine him and Uta and their kid invited to the two families open houses. My heart 😭😭

Hi!I am new to your blog and I noticed you read the Demon Slayer manga so I hope I don't spoil something for you!The thing is I am brainstorming this idea that I may or may not turn into a fanfiction of reverse demon slayer thing but instead of Tanjiro and Nezuko,it's Yoriichi and Kokushibou?Any help?Do you think you maybe have any ideas?Thank you in advance and also I love your blog, it's really pretty!
Oh my god,you are adorable!
Thank you for the compliments!
And welcome to the Kimetsu no yaiba fandom,I promise everyone is lovely, well so far I haven't seen anyone making any fuss.
I think we are all too sad for that hahahh.
You are writing a fanfiction?!Go for it!I am sure it is going to be amazing!
No worries I don't mind spoilers.
and reverse?
As in Yoriichi and Michikatsu are the main characters? One a demon and another a slayer trying to turn them back?
That is an amazing idea but gosh it sounds daunting I wish you all the best.
As for if I have any ideas?Sure,I am no writer tho.
Also you didn't specify who's the demon and who the slayer.
I think I saw fanart, really good ones too,of Kokushibou as Nezuko and Yoriichi as Tanjiro somewhere, that could be used as inspiration,I am sure.
But since Yoriichi has been through enough in my very biased opinion I'll go like this!
So that last interaction between Yoriichi and Kokushibou was their final moments too.
Let's go with Yoriichi blitzed Kokushibou and one shot him out of misguided guilt or because he wanted his brother to find peace or whatever.
Like I don't think that screws with the canon that hard, like Muzan will find a new Upper Moon who cares.
So they both died leaning on each other and as Yoriichi is older and human he dies faster and falls on Kokushibou disgusting him in process because Kokushibou gotta Kokushibou, until the little flute falls out and Kokushibou spots it.
And then it's tears and guilt fiesta and lamenting and feeling sorry for oneself as Kokushibou ought to do.
And finally Michikatsu is back.
And promises to do better,to protect Yoriichi in their next life,to be a better brother. Because here Yoriichi went against himself and his own vow of not wanting violence to fulfill his duty, like the shock and sadness probably killed him here.
Realistically Kokushibou would still be mad but shhh we need that guy to have some redeeming qualities.
Michikatsu dies clutching the flute and Yoriichi's hand.
Yoriichi dies crying and clutching his brother's hand.
Upper Moon 1 is no more.
Hopefully his clothes stayed with Yoriichi's corpse and someone found them and buried them because anon the fact that we don't know what happened to Yoriichi's body after he died haunts me?Okay?Haunts me!
We know what happened to Uta,but Yoriichi?Nada!
Gotoge I need to talk!
Was he even buried?Did Kokushibou eat him?Did he bury him?Was he just left there to rot? Kokushibou was obsessed with what he left behind and made sure along with Muzan that Yoriichi basically got erased, did he just use some blood art fuckery to erase him? Hopefully someone buried my guy.
I got sidetracked.
But yeah in this au maybe Yoriichi gets buried with his brother's kimono and the flute.Hopefully by either a Hashira or one of the countless people he saved.
God forbid the Kamado's or Sumire somehow find him.
I am a big supporter of that amazing idea that Yoriichi got banged by the Kamado's like a screen door during a hurricane.
I mean Tanjiro bears such a resemblance for a reason yes?
Of course it could have been gods being cruel enough to reincarnate Yoriichi into Tanjiro or just basically curse Tanjiro with Yoriichi's life.
Seriously what if the reason we didn't see Yoriichi waiting for Kokushibou like every other demon got is that he is physically there as Tanjiro and therefore unable to be there?
Now that I think about if this crazy idea has any merit than Yoriichi got what he wished for and by the people he saw as family too through Tanjiro!A simple life with a family that lives him but Muzan still fucking exists!
That whole the people you help, help you back thing really is applicable here!
It's either that or Sumire,Suyako and Sumiyoshi all sat on Yoriichi and he is weak for them so..Only explantation I am allowing.
That or Kokushibou deserved eternal damnation but damn you can't tell me Yoriichi wouldn't have fought god himself to give that fucker a hug.
Again side tracked.
So some years pass and Yoriichi and Michikatsu get reborn again as twins because irony.
Now you can choose who's older and what families they have,do they have more siblings etc.
I personally would have put Michikatsu as a older brother to,you know, repent?
But it works even if Yoriichi is older because Michikatsu would have a brother complex anyway.Man just built too old Japanese.
So Yoriichi hopefully gets a clean slate because trauma and also give him some peace damn.
But Michi probably has some complex and self worth issues because he constantly thinks he isn't enough.
Maybe he remembers a la Tanjiro, thru dreams and random phantoms getting him down a peg or twelve.
Their names could be completely made up,the same, they could be descendants a la Muichiro and Yuichiro, could be Kamado's,whatever you want works.
You have extra guilt points if they belong to Tokito's or Kamado's with Michikatsu's jealousy about Kamado's obvious if he remembers.
Anyway they went to town or stayed home or whatever vague reason you could give so these two can meet Muzan.
And considering Muzan is a crackhead really anything works.
But whatever they are just walking or sleeping or minding their damn business when they see Satan.
Muzan obviously shits himself out of anger and fear both because Kokushibou and Yoriichi are both standing there.
So he grabs Yoriichi.
Instead of killing him which would be the smart choice,he turns him into a demon obviously.
Because Muzan is nothing if not pathetic, dramatic and ineffective.
Thing he panicked hard and was going to grab Michi first but instead in blind feral panic got Yoriichi, because like the ultimate asshole he was,he was about to recreate Kokushibou and have him kill Yoriichi because Muzan sucks like that.
And so gave him a huge amount of blood and panicked and gave him more when he noticed it Yoriichi hoping he would just explode or something.
But nah gods aren't done laughing at all of us so Yoriichi does turn and jeez he is pissed, that fucker tried eating his brother.
Meanwhile Michi is horrified because what the fuck or frozen if he remembers anything at this point.
So you just have demon Yoriichi and Muzan shitting himself and duking out and Yoriichi fucked him up but no nichirin blade so they have to wait until the sun.
A Hashira runs in to a most horrifying and baffling scene ever.
The progenitor of all demons is getting his ass whopped by what looks like a twelve years old juiced on demon blood and his brother is there holding a random object as a weapon.
There is gore and viscera on the floor everywhere.Muzan eventually throws in the towel and blasts off, leaving because Hashira or the sun is up or something.
A very pissed off Yoriichi and shaken Michi and a baffled Hashira stand there until Yoriichi notices the Hashira and starts attacking.
Michi finally get his shit together and jams the flute into Yoriichi's mouth and like fuck is Yoriichi running that precious gift so he calms.
Hashira tells them to get the fuck out off the sun because demons burn in it,but nah it's been the morning for a few hours now and Yoriichi just swinging his legs on the porch completely fine.
Because his existence is meant to fuck with Muzan, and yeah he conquered the sun immediately.
Now the Hashira has the daunting task of explaining all this bullshit to the others and Oyakata-sam somewhat coherently.
Bonus points if the Hashira is either Muichiro or Rengoku for double gut punch.
Now Michikatsu gets to be a slayer,a poor main character and hopefully a better brother with Yoriichi as his overpowered cute sidekick.
Chaos abounds!
Now for the short points:
Yorii is on demon time all the time and instead of people the sun powers him so he is yet again the boogeyman to all the demon and a personally insult to Muzan because fuck that guy.
Yorii is straight up feral,he bites, kicks, growls if you look at him or his brother wrong and his blood demon art thing is probably some unholy mix of sun breathing and demon magic bullshit, like he kicks you and now that part is permanently sun burned,so he is lethal to fight against and as fast as the actual sun.
Yorii adores kids and babies especially, everyone is too afraid to ask why.Like give him the butterfly triplets and he is entrained for hours playing hide and seek with them.
He looks demonic all the time because the amount of blood he was injected with,so like slit eyes, hair probably blood red and a unholy cross of sun shading and blood shade tips in his hair.covered in head to toe in the sun mark that of course sprouted on his forehead because of course it did.
Yorii walks around in his twelve years old form unless he needs to help someone reach something and then he turns 6 ft and gives Michi a hear attack.
Yorii prefers the kid form,he can feel his brother is uncomfortable with his adult form.
The flute is constantly in Yorii's mouth and he has this adorable habit of calling for Michi by playing a short tune on it.
So far only Uzui and Michi figured out the flute language down.
Hashiras are just baffled and sometimes unnerved by the small demon just lounging in the sunlight but it's completely peaceful, surely it's just a child?
A victim yes?You only get his side eye if you have some evil intention to his brother or whoever Yorii adopted into his family.
Michi of course has a guilt complex over 9000 here.
Especially if he remembers,dear god.
He failed,dear gods,did he fail.
And now he is also feeling guilty for anytime he envied Yoriichi,he is kinda offended that even Muzan's blood doesn't matter to Yoriichi tho.He really is blessed.
But all the guilt and self hate works out here because he gets decent company to tell him just how stupid he is.And he gets to beat demons with a stick.
He doesn't have people comparing him to Yorii now either.
The wonder of having better people to talk too.
He probably learns fire breathing or water breathing but modifies into Moon breathing baffling everyone because that's a thing?
He hangs out with Muichiro,Rengoku,Uzui, probably Shinobu?
He is always praising Muichiro on his talents but despairs over his lack of tact and manners.
Muchirio finds him an encouraging nagging mother hen and his brother a weird little bird.
What friends he has depends on how much you change the canon? Are the upper moons the same?
It will hilarious because Michi is such a chaotic idiot but loves to pretend to be a straight and honorable man and that leaves the Hashiras completely bamboozled because the man can be peacefully meditating and then turn around and yell at Muichiro because manners you ill mannered brat! How did descendent turn out like this?!!
And what was that even supposed mean?
This weird crochety old man who's actually a twelve year old!
Yorii doesn't give a fuck, his brother is the best brother.
And then the angst and anger you could pull if the Hashiras find out who Michi actually was and the angst of meeting Muzan again.
But hopefully by now he would have a better support group and more perspective and a knowledge that he isn't the only person important or wronged in this world!
As I said this fic has a lot of potential,a little research to be done sure, but if you are passionate about it,go for it!
I would personally read it and most certainly love it!
Also I haven't asked what genre you wanted so if it was horror or humor or smut?
Go ahead and ask,I am not here to judge after all and I love trading ideas!See ya and all the good luck to you!
I hope this helped!

Ever wonder where Tanjiro got his ultimate rizz from? Of course! HIS FAMILY AND ANCESTORS.
____
(500 years ago at the sengoku era..)
"Yoriichi-San! It's nice to see you visiting us again!" Sumiyoshi Kamado, said happily and smile, waving at his friend, as his wife, Suyako Kamado, waved at Yoriichi Tsugikuni too, holding her newborn baby, as her daughter was sleeping.
"Yes, indeed!" Suyako happily said with a calm smile.
Yoriichi nodded with a calm and neutral face, approaching them and sat next to Sumiyoshi. Suyako went inside the house and brought out 3 cups of tea and some onigiris and placed it down between Yoriichi and Sumiyoshi, as she sat besides Sumiyoshi.
"What brings you here again, Yoriichi-San?" Sumiyoshi asked, looking curiously at Yoriichi.
"I just want to see if your family is alright." Yoriichi said, face still neutral.
"We're alright! We're still very grateful that you saved us!" Sumiyoshi happily spoke, handing Yoriichi a cup of tea as Yoriichi gladly took it.
Yoriichi took a sip of the cup of tea, liking the taste of it. He puts the cup down on the plate and looked at Sumiyoshi with a warm look and he slightly smile.
"I'm glad that you all are alright." Yoriichi said. Sumiyoshi chuckled and took a sip of his own cup of tea. "I like seeing you happy Yoriichi-San! You look really nice when you're happy!" Sumiyoshi suddenly said, putting down his cup of tea on the plate, as Suyako nodded and agreed with Sumiyoshi
Yoriichi's eyes widen at the comment Sumiyoshi made, faintly blushing. "I.. thank you.. Sumiyoshi." Yoriichi said, giving Sumiyoshi a warm smile with his eyes half-closed, affected by the nice comment.
"Is nothing really!" Sumiyoshi said, he then held up both of Yoriichi's hand, helding it together with his.
"You should be more happy! No one deserves to be sad! You deserve happiness just like everyone! Remember that!" Sumiyoshi said, eyes shining at Yoriichi's and smiling gently.
Yoriichi's eyes widen and shine with life, tears coming out a little as he blushed slightly.
Yoriichi suddenly hugs Sumiyoshi and closed his eyes, tears overwhelmed his eyes. No one has says this to him after his wife, Uta, left the world.
Sumiyoshi hugs Yoriichi back, patting his back as he comforted Yoriichi. Suyako sat besides Sumiyoshi and Yoriichi, smiling at the two.
The Kamados sleeping daughter, Sumire Kamado, had woken up and waddle over to her parents. She gently tilted her head when she saw Yoriichi hugged her dad, and she slightly tugged on Yoriichi's long hair.
Yoriichi allows himself to sink into Sumiyoshi, he was so glad he has his true friend. He didn't mind the fact that Sumire is tugging on his hair. He finally felt welcome and happy, that is all he cares about at the moment.
Yoriichi eventually had to leave, but he visited the Kamados frequently, for Sumiyoshi most of the time.
____
KABOW. And that is how Tanjiro got his ultimate rizz! The Kamados? Nah. The RIZZmados.
If Sumiyoshi and Tanjiro met, they be rizz talking frfr
It's in their blood, they're incredibly charming to anyone they meet and although all the Kamados have it, Sumiyoshi and Tanjirou are the ones who have most of that mesmerizing personality.
