Gully Boy Completes 5 Years: Siddhant Chaturvedi shares throwback moments; says, “I was born this day”

Bollywood actor Siddhant Chaturvedi, celebrated for his breakout role as MC Sher in the hit film Gully Boy, marked 5 years since the movie's release in a heartwarming and nostalgic manner. Taking to social media on Wednesday, Siddhant shared a series of throwback pictures from the sets of the film, evoking fond memories of his journey with co-stars and director Zoya Akhtar.

In the post, Siddhant Chaturvedi shared camaraderie with his fellow actors, including Ranveer Singh, Vijay Varma, Kalki Koechlin, and director Zoya Akhtar. The images offered glimpses into the behind-the-scenes moments and bonding experiences that characterized the making of Gully Boy. The film chronicles the lives of three twenty-something friends, Imaad (Siddhant Chaturvedi), Ahana (Ananya Panday) and Neil (Adarsh Gourav), as they explore the digital world and support one another in their search for authenticity amidst their virtual lives. Produced by Excel Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar and Tiger Baby’s Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, the film explored the complexities of online existence as a young adult.

New Delhi: Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor took fans down the memory lane with their sizzling chemistry in the film 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'. As the film clocks six years of its release on Friday, the duo can be seen 'goofing around' by dancing on the peppy track 'Balam Pichkari' from the film. Fans can catch Naina and Bunny back in action in the adorable video shared by the 'Piku' actor on Instagram, which seems to be shot inside a vanity van, capturing the duo in a lively mood. Both the actors can be seen grooving on the hit track 'Balam Pichkari'. "Naina and Bunny goofing around.....," she captioned the post. Deepika is winning hearts with her black ensemble and completing the look with a neat bun whereas Ranbir is looking dapper in a formal white shirt and black pants. While the two might have parted ways but Deepika still shares a great bond with her ex and his family. Some time back, Deepika, during her trip to New York, visited Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor,  and spent time with him, who is currently undergoing a medical treatment there. Ranbir's mother Neetu Kapoor had shared pictures on Instagram where she termed the actor as 'adorable Deepika Padukone'. Both Deepika and Ranbir reportedly started seeing each other during the shooting of the film, 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' in 2008. While they were in a relationship, the 'Padmavat' actor even got the initials of her boyfriend inked on her neck. However, after dating each other for almost a year, they both parted ways and Deepika tied the knot with Ranveer Singh in 2018. Speaking of 'YJHD', the romantic drama film revolved around a shy and nerdy medical student Naina Talwar, essayed by Deepika, who eventually falls in for her former classmate Kabir Thapar aka Bunny, essayed by Ranbir, during their hiking trip to the Himalayas. The film also starred Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur in pivotal roles. It was directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar and had hit the screens on May 31, 2013. Abhay Deol has been sharing his journey in Bollywood on Instagram, one film at a time. He is now celebrating his 2012 film Shanghai which he believes is “extremely relevant today”.

Sharing the poster of the film, Abhay wrote, “Shanghai, released in 2012. A contemporary Indian take on the Greek novel “Z” by author Vassilis Vassilikos. Directed by Dibakar Banerji this film puts systemic corruption in politics front and center, with devastating impact. Extremely relevant today. Looks like these days one could make a film about the corrupt practices of Bollywood!”

He also went on to applaud the various Bollywood actors, singers and filmmakers who have again started the nepotism debate after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. “By the way, not sure if the current outrage will give rise to an independent Hindi film and music industry, without the unoriginal tag of “Bollywood”, but it sure feels good to hear loud voices from within the industry, risking their careers for the bigger “picture” (pun intended),” he wrote.

Sharing a message for Shanghai producer Priya Sreedharan, he added, “(@priyasreedharan we gotta make another movie! What’s Wasim Khan’s Instagram handle?) #makingwhatbollywouldnt.”

Shanghai was a political thriller directed by Dibakar Banerjee. It also starred Emraan Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin and Prosenjit Chatterjee.
