🎶Diane has a boyfriend... 🎶
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, I take it you have some information?
Yeah. I looked deeper into Mr. Overby, and I don't think he's a good candidate for partnership. Based on my investigation, he appears to be nonexclusive.
Nonexclusive?
In pursuit of other options. Openly in pursuit.
Are you sure?
Positive. The firm can do better.
Well, thank you, Kalinda, for your discretion in this matter.

📓📔📒📕📗📘📙📚📖!!!!!!!!!
Okay. 9 books, 9 fics. You're welcome.
1. Kastle/The West Wing Crossover Every time I watch TWW, I think about Karen and Donna Moss being friends, and once I thought of a fic where during the early seasons of TWW, the President and staff go to New York and Karen is moderating one of the series of town halls they're there for (specifically one where Josh Lyman is speaking). And of course that one, because reasons I had not yet come up with, gets attacked by The Hand, and Karen, Donna and Josh (who gets injured, because Josh ALWAYS gets injured) get rescued by Frank and it basically ends with the President demanding to meet Frank to thank him for saving Josh's life and everyone is like, "Mr. President do you not understand that Frank Castle is technically a MURDERER and the Secret Service will n e v e r let you in the same room with him and it's bad enough that you're currently on the same ISLAND?" So, yeah.
Here's something I wrote for it:
“Josh, did you hear?”
“I have impeccable hearing, Donna,” Josh says without looking up from the memo in his hand. “What is it that I am supposed to have heard?”
“Carol told me that she heard from Lindsay in credentialing that Karen Page has been assigned to cover the President’s town halls in New York for the New York Bulletin!”
He waits for her to keep going, but she doesn’t so, he looks up and sees her waiting expectantly, “And?”
“Karen Page? What It Means To Be A Hero Karen Page. She’s connected to half the vigilante-superheroes in Lower Manhattan. She was held hostage by ninjas. She interviewed Tony Stark about the Sokovia Accords. Last year, The Punisher himself may or may not have held her hostage after saving her from that terrorist Lewis Wilson.”
“And?”
“And, would it be inappropriate, as a member of the White House Staff, to ask her for her autograph?”
Kastle: The Big Indulgence
This is one of the first long fics I came up with for Kastle (and come hell or high water I WILL write it one day). Basically, it puts the NMCU actually IN the MCU. Post TPS1, Sarah tracks Karen down and they become friends, and at the same time, Frank becomes friends with Bucky Barnes (yes Emily, I know he's not your fav) by way of Curtis' group (Curt, of course, regrets ever letting them interact ever). Karen gets nominated for an award for her journalism work by the Maria Stark Foundation, where she meets Pepper, Natasha, and Darcy, and befriends them as well. Everything comes to a head and Karen and Frank reunite after the discovery that Sarah Lieberman is related to one of Bucky's surviving family members (the Liebermans are Jewish, Bucky's family is Jewish, it works!). Then, things related to Billy and Hydra happen, there's an incident where a few people disappear into an alternate universe for...an... amount of time, the Avengers meet the X-Men to help get them back, and Frank may or may not be a little psychic. Someone ends up coming from that alternate universe who doesn't belong here, but it's okay because she's [redacted] and also Leo's [redacted].
Leo-Centric, Kastle
Leo gets an internship as Darcy Lewis' assistant (well, technically she's working for Jane Foster, but it's basically working for Darcy), where she meets Karen, matchmakes her with Frank, and also gets a girlfriend. I think the summary says it best:
Summer 2021.
In which Leo Lieberman gets the internship of a lifetime—working for Jane!Freaking!Foster’s soon-to-be former personal assistant, Darcy Lewis—both comes out of the closet AND gets the girl, and helps her long-lost murder-uncle finally reconcile with the ace reporter of his dreams.
If Frank was actually bulletproof, it would totally be just like Superman and Lois Lane.
5 Times Seth Tells Kate He Loves Her
A five-times fic where Seth is just ass over tea kettle in love with Kate, and makes sure she knows it and doesn't care what other people (read: Richie and Scott) think about it. The first one takes place the night they get back from Matanzas, and I just love the little bit I've written so far. I know 2 that I'm going to write so far, so...3 to go.
Kate Meets Vanessa Post S3
So I started writing this around Valentine's Day this year, and I might keep it as a Valentine's Day fic no matter what, but basically, in a grand universal coincidence, Vanessa strolls into Jed's just because she's stopping for lunch on her way to...somewhere. She meets Kate, who is covering the bar for Kalinda and Greer (a culebra OC that I will one day actually formally introduce in my fics, I promise), who are downstairs "checking on inventory" read: screwing in a maintenance closet because it's Valentine's Day, and then Seth comes out and there's a little, very awkward reunion, and basically Vanessa is the MOST amused, Seth is the MOST uncomfortable and Kate's just like...okay? And? Also, Seth is still bitter about Vanessa taking the tire iron to his car back in early S1.
The SK/Detroit 187 Fusion
Seth is a detective in Houston PD, who comes into the office one day to discover they...hired an intern? Said intern is Kate Fuller, a grad student at the University of Houston, who is working on her master's thesis by studying something related to crime (duh). Seth thinks she's a Disney princess in human form and they're very antagonistic with one another, but also he likes her way more than he thinks he should (but feels a LOT better about it when he finds out she's 23, not like...barely legal to drink or anything. Angst happens when a gang (Malvado's, but Carlos' branch of it) attacks Kate's family and kills her parents, and Seth takes her to Eddie and Richie for protection while he and his partner, Ximena, and the rest of the department solve the case and put Carlos' crew away.
SK Post 2x02 AU
After Kate and Seth part ways in 2x02, Kate goes back to Bethel, but Scott isn't there (so Jessica lives). She ends up in Houston for two years, working at a gym and keeping her to the ground looking for word about her brother, until one night, she's attacked by a bunch of Culebras, and is saved by Seth, Richie, and Kisa. She finds out that Carlos and Malvado are after her because she's the key to the way to the Blood Well, and Carlos and Malvado's henchwoman, the one and only Sonja, draws them all back to Bethel by putting Jessica in danger, and...it's all going to come to a head in some way that involves them saving Jessica from Sonja and killing Malvado and stopping the events of S3 from ever having to happen.
SK Season 1 AU
I don't know if i'm ever going to go anywhere with this, but I had this thought of...what is Carlos as Kyle wasn't a dick to Kate, and he took her to Mexico instead of Kate going back with Jacob and Scott. She ends up at the Twister before Seth and Richie do, and spends time with Kisa before she goes out to perform, and somehow it ends up with Kate going through the labyrinth with the brothers? I don't know. Something like that.
The FDTD/The Punisher Crossover That Starts Off In New York
So this is one of 2 crossovers I have for SK-meets-Kastle, but I love it. This is post 2x02, and Kate ends up in New York after not being able to find Scott back in Bethel. She ends up going to work as NM&P's assistant, and befriends Karen. To get to know one another better, Karen takes Kate to Josie's, where Kate discovers that Josie is a culebra, and Josie promises to keep Kate's secret. One day, this...guy shows up at the office, asking to talk to Karen, and Karen kicks Kate out of the office while they talk, and when she comes back, the guy is gone and Karen doesn't want to talk about it. (It's Frank, of course it's Frank). Also featuring one day where Frank is on the roof, Matt gets wind of it and goes up there to confront him about seeing Karen again and comes back with a black eye, and Kate is V confused whereas Karen is 10000000% pissed off at them both. Not long after, Kate and Karen are out one night, and they're attacked by a bunch of culebras. Frank helps intervene while Kate really is the one to save the day...and then she has to explain culebras to them. Of course, Karen saw aliens fall out of a portal above Stark Tower, so...snake vampires? Whatever. Kate calls Freddie to figure out why she was attacked and it turns out Carlos and Malvado are after her (and, later found out Karen too). Kate, Karen and Frank end up in Texas and things all come to a head at the blood well, as it does, and while Carlos shoots Kate in front of Seth, Richie, and Scott (which, BAD IDEA), Kate falls into the blood well, and when she's pulled out, she's healed. But...she also has something inside her that wants to destroy the world, and everyone has to race against time to figure out how to get Amaru out of Kate before she takes over completely and destroys them all. They figure out a way, but it has an...interesting side effect for Kate and Seth. Also, this is the one where Maggie takes one look at Freddie and Ximena and shrugs and says, "You know what? Porque no los dos?"
So yeah, there you go!
(Also, I thought about also including the Amaru isn't evil, she's just cranky and wants to go home, S3 AU, but we just talked about it yesterday, so I figured it doesn't count hahaaha.)
send me a book emoji of any kind and i will tell you about a fic idea i have

Work Text:
Doing the Right Thing
Alicia/Kalinda
Summary: Alicia goes to rescue Kalinda from the shuffle of county lockup, but pays Cary a visit first. (What the camera didn’t see)
Alicia didn’t wait for an invitation, she threw the door open to Cary’s office, ignoring the stunned look on his face, and tossed her bag into the chair in front of his desk. “Let me put this to you simply, Cary. Unless you want a law suit of the likes you’ve never seen, I would stop this shell game with Kalinda. I have three probono clients who’ve suffered the same transfers of relatives and loved ones. And if I can prove a systamatic effort to allude arraignment and bail hearings well then we’re talking about damages in the millions. And more importantly, I’ll be naming you personally in that law suit.”
Alicia had been the only one to volunteer to go pick up Kalinda from the county jail. She was supposed to have a simple bail for release. Instead she was informed that Kalinda had been moved. No one knew where she was. She wasn’t being sent to arraignment. She wasn’t in the system for relocation. And she still wasn’t answering her goddamn phone. The more and more phone calls she made in order to locate their investigator, the angrier she became. She called Diane ten minutes before walking into Cary’s office. Letting her know the situation that she found herself in. Telling her they were hiding Kalinda. But most importantly, she called to let her know it was a possibility she would be arrested after going after Cary.
After a few seconds, Cary smirked, leaning back in his chair. “Hi, Alicia...”
Alicia had the recorder that Kalinda had given to her for her birthday in her pocket and on. If she was gonna be arrested they might as well arrest him for what she really did. “I am not joking, Cary. You bring Kalinda to me now.”
Cary shook his head, laughing. He wasn’t intimidated by the housewife of the States Attorney. He didn’t care how good of a lawyer she thought she was. “Why do you even care? You hate her. Did Diane send you,” he said, almost mocking her anger.
Alicia braced herself against Cary’s desk. Her arms locked as she hovered over the young ASA. She would make he scared. She would make certain that he would fear ever crossing her path again. “Cary, if Kalinda isn’t standing in front of me in five minutes I’m starting the law suit and going to Peter about how his ASA’s are treating staff at defense firms. Then I’ll have you indicted for false arrest and false imprisonment.” she leaned closer. “And if I find out you arrested her using force, I’ll see that he tacks on kidnapping.” It was a long shot, but it all depended on how Alicia and Diane worded their complaint. And how cooperative Kalinda would be for their case.
The threat of formal charges got his attention. Not enough to scare him, but enough to rock the boat. “Fuck you, Alicia.”
Alicia wanted to smile when she finally got a reaction, but she restrained herself. She had come to bring Kalinda home. She would taunt Cary later. “No, Cary, fuck you. And you have three minutes before I make that call to my husband.” That wasn’t a blind threat. Alicia would call Peter and knew Peter would would dig their investigator out of whatever hole Cary had put her in. Whatever Peter did to him after that, she couldn’t care less about.
He laughed. “You fucking her yet? Everyone else already has.”
Alicia leaned further over his desk. A smirk appearing on her face. Even when she got Kalinda out, she would still gonna go after him hard. “If she has one mark on her, Cary, if she was touched at all my the guards, the inmates, or you...” She looked him up and down in disgust. “I will make damn sure you are black listed. A mass email will be sent to every law firm in the tri-state area.”
Cary shook his head. Alicia could tell she was beginning to get to him. He was starting to sweat. His hands shook slightly. “You don’t have the connections to make that happen.”
Alicia smiled. She already had a laundry list of people that would help her. People that would risk their jobs and livelihoods for Kalinda Sharma. “Wanna bet. Will and Diane love Kalinda. Julius and Elsbeth love Kalinda. Peter loves Kalinda.”
Alicia could see his upper lip twitch at the mention of Peter’s name. Peter might have cheated on her. He might have done a lot of things that didn’t make much sense. But he would back her. Whatever she needed, Peter would always back her play, just as she had always done for him. “You think that scares me.”
Alicia stood to her full height, hovering over the young ASA. “They should. Those are the people that would do anything for Kalinda.”
He scuffed, but she could see the sweat beginning to show though his dress shirt. “I’m not afraid of your friends, Alicia.”
She smiled. That knowing smile. “I love Kalinda. You should be afraid of me. They might do anything for her, but she’s my family. And you have no idea what I’ll do for family. You have no idea how far I’ll go to protect my own. You know I have the power to ruin your life, Cary. Get me Kalinda, now!”
Cary stepped away from the wall as Alicia guided their investigator through the empty halls of the county jail. “You got fucking lucky this time,” he hissed in her ear as she passed. Kalinda flinched. Kalinda never flinched. Her eyes focused on the ground. Her chin tilted down. It wasn’t the confident Kalinda she had spoken to that morning. And that infuriated the older woman.
Alicia stopped, turning back to Cary, stepping in front of Kalinda. “Don’t talk to my client. And if I hear you threaten my client again, same rules still apply. You call her, follow her, or send her a damn messenger pigeon, I’ll know.” She paused for a moment, Kalinda moving further behind her, remaining as out of sight as possible. “And when I find out what you did to her, Cary, bet your ass Peter tears your entire world apart.”
“You’ve become a real bitch, Alicia,” he spat, moving slightly to see the investigator quietly hovering behind her attorney. He was proud to have broken Kalinda Sharma. Someone everyone thought as unbreakable. Someone that everyone thought didn’t need anyone elses protect. He proved them wrong.
“Stop intimidating my client, Mr. Agos.” Alicia said, holding Kalinda’s processing folder in his view, blocking the investigators face from his glances. Alicia took a step forward. “You think I’m a bitch now,” she laughed. “Fuck with the people I care about some more, Cary. See how big of a bitch I can really be.” Alicia turned to Kalinda who was unusually quiet. No smile on her face. No head held up with pride. She was now a shell of the vibrant person she was that morning. They needed to leave. “Go, Kalinda.”
Alicia followed her to the car, slamming the door far too harshly behind her. She watched the investigator flinch at the sound, but say nothing. Starting the car, but not moving, Alicia opened her purse and set it on the console between them. She stripped her jacket from her body, reached inside her blouse and pulled the small box and two wires from her bra. She removed the pin from her blouse, placing it inside her purse. “Fuck, I hate wearing a wire.”
Kalinda didn’t look up. She didn’t have to. “Why are you wearing a wire?” She asked, keeping her eyes on her hands. Too afraid to move. To afraid to do much of anything.
The anger was still coursing through Alicia’s body. When Peter had asked her to wear the wire when he went to pick up Kalinda, she had never expected that it would be Cary that was abusing his power as an ASA. “I’ve been trying to find you for five hours. After the first hour of looking and being ran from department to department, I called Peter. He said someone in the state’s attorney’s office was abusing transfers. Making it more difficult for families to find them and post bail. Other attorney’s not being able to find their clients. Defense attorney’s that accused ASA’s of assualt while in their holding cells. I only agreed so I could find you faster.” She was silent for a moment. “When Peter said he couldn’t find you, I lost my fucking mind. If he couldn’t find you in lock up, then where the hell could they have put you.”
Kalinda sat quietly for a moment, it was one of the few times she had been alone with Alicia since her secret was revealed. In those moment, in the hall, that was the most emotion she had ever seen Alicia show. She had never seen the attorney that angry. She had never seen her use her husband in order to get what she wanted. Kalinda didn’t know whether to be proud of her or fearful. “I’ve never seen you act like that,” She whispered.
Alicia slammed her hand against the steering wheel several times. The pain that radiated through her knuckles was nothing compared to the aggravation that was running through her veins. The anger that Cary caused within her was trying to surface. It was one of the few times Alicia was thankful she didn’t carry a gun. “I’m not gonna let people fuck with my friends.”
Kalinda glanced out the window. It had been so long since Alicia had talked to her. Not about a case or about what witness had to say. She wanted to just talk to her again. She needed it. “I didn’t think we were friends anymore, Alicia.” A few tears trailing down her face, but she wiped it away quickly.
Alicia turned to look at her. Kalinda had never looked so vulnerable. So afraid. She saw the tears coming long before they fell. She saw Kalinda try to hide them from her. “You found my daughter,” she whispered, her voice cracking at the end of the sentence.
Kalinda froze. Grace wasn’t supposed to tell her. She hadn’t wanted anyone to know that she had brought the girl home. Had dealt with that weird boy. She hadn’t wanted Alicia to be more upset with her. “She was never lost.” It was true. Grace wasn’t a kid that had wondered off and forgot where she lived. Kalinda had found her in the church where that boy ran his youtube video.
Alicia held up her hand, but her face had softened. She had never told Kalinda about Grace being missing. She didn’t call Will. She didn’t let Diane know. Why hadn’t she reached out to their investigator in the first place? “You brought my daughter home. You didn’t have to do that. Thank you, Kalinda.” She said, tears slowly filling her eyes as she tried to catch Kalinda’s glance.
Kalinda just shrugged. She hadn’t felt like she had done anything special. It was her job to investigate. It didn’t matter what that investigation was. And she cared for Alicia. She cared for her children. She had feared that Grace had been taken. That she wasn’t gonna be able to find her. She got lucky with the youtube videos. “I didn’t do anything. I knew I could help so I helped.”
Alicia reached over, slipping her hand into Kalinda’s, who surprisingly didn’t pull away. Her body was begging for Alicia to leave leave her alone, but the look on her face was begging for Alicia to stay. To comfort her. It was Kalinda’s way of asking for help. Her way of asking to be comforted. “You threatened the boy with physical harm if he contacted Grace again,” she said, trying not to smile. “Why?”
Kalinda’s fingers twitched under Alicia’s hand. A few of her fingers interlacing with the attorney’s. She remembered the look on Grace’s face as she pulled her from the church, locking in inside the car with the child safety latches before going back into the church. Grace had been shocked, but not as shocked as the boy when she came back. She had threatened. She wasn’t ashamed of that. People would do anything, say anything to get what they wanted from people. Especially young, trusting girls like Grace. She wouldn’t let that happen. “I protect the people I care about.”
Alicia squeezed her hand. For a moment, it felt like it had a year ago. Like they were still the best of friends. She smiled to herself. She wanted that back. She needed the friendship back. “I can’t fight with you anymore, Kalinda. I’ve lost too many people.” She wiped away the tears that had fallen down her cheek. She had never had any true friends. Not back in Highland park. She barely considered Will a friend anymore.
Kalinda turned to lean her back against the passenger door. The lawyers hand still tangled with hers. She had never been good at having friends. Never allowed herself to be that vulnerable with another person. But she had already been exposed to Alicia. She already knew her dirty little secret. It wouldn’t take much to simply tell her the rest. Finally, let someone in. “You never lost me, Alicia. It’s my fault.” Kalinda stopped, remembering everything that had happened moments ago. Threatening ASAs and wearing a wire was not the Alicia Florrick she was familiar with. She was putting herself in front of the target for her. That wasn’t something she wanted her to do. “You shouldn’t have done all that for me.”
Alicia actually smiled. A smile that the investigator hadn’t seen in a long time. Even when she was sleeping with Will, she never looked that happy and calm. “You care about my kids, Kalinda.” Her children had never taken an interest in anyone they way they latched onto the mysterious woman. They never came into the room when Will came to work on a case. They never bothered her when Diane would stop by unannounced. But the second Kalinda Sharm walks through the door, they full of questions. Wanting to know everything that she did when working on a case. Wondering why she dressed the way she did if she had to go to court all the time. Wondering why she was so quiet. “My kids have never shown someone outside the family as much attention as they show you. They really like you, K.”
Kalinda looked down, smiling as she remembered her little talk with Grace on their drive home. Explaining to her why she couldn’t just meet with people she met on the internet. Drilling into her head that she needed to remember to constantly keep her phone charged. Reminding her that just because someone says all the right things, it didn’t mean they meant them. “You have good kids. I enjoy Grace’s company.”
Alicia laughed, remembering her teenage daughter blabbing on and on about how fun Kalinda was, how she wanted to spend more time with her. Begging her to let her hang out with her when she was in the office. She talked to Alicia for hours about how she wanted to learn about being an investigator. Asked her everything that she knew about the subject which wasn’t much. “Grace wants to shadow you,” she said smiling. “She wants to be an investigator now.”
Kalinda looked up, a small smile on her face. She had never allowed anyone elses children to shadow her for job experience. She never wanted that kind of responsibility for another life. But with Grace she didn’t mind. She reminded Kalinda of Alicia, only slightly louder when she got excited. But she was incredibly smart for the age of fourteen. “I wouldn’t mind that.” Alicia looked stunned for a moment. As if she had grown a second head. “I’d keep her safe,” she said quickly.
Alicia shook her head. She trusted the investigator with her life, aways had. And she trusted her to keep her daughter from harm. She was most surprised with the offer. “I know you will, Kalinda.” She pointed quickly to her outfit. “Just no mini skirts.”
Kalinda actually laughed. One that Alicia hadn’t heard in a long time. It was the kind of laugh that she would hear at their usual bar. Throwing back shots and talking about their non-dating lives. “Wouldn’t dream of it.” she paused for a moment. “Bright side, if she’s with me after school, she’s not talking to the weird guy on the internet.”
“I’m pretty sure you scared the boy off.” Alicia released the other woman’s hand, turning in the seat to fully face her. It was a moment that she wanted to convey all her emotions to Kalinda. Wanted her to see how sincere she was. “But I wouldn’t mind if you came around more. Even if you aren’t seeing Grace.” They used to hang out after work every night. At the bar. At Alicia’s home. It didn’t matter where they were, they were always together. Even at work; if they couldn’t find Kalinda, check Alicia’s office. If they couldn’t find Alicia, call Kalinda. That’s what Alicia wanted back. Wanted the predictability. Wanted to companionship.
Kalinda glanced down, playing with the loose thread on her sweater. Cary had done it when he pushed her into a cell. The fabric had caught on his watch. “Alicia, the stuff in my past...”
Alicia held up her hand, the soft smile still on her face. She didn’t want to talk about the stuff with Peter anymore. Of course, she wanted to know everything about Kalinda’s past, but she wanted her to want to tell her. And if it caused her pain, as it was doing at the moment, Alicia didn’t want that. She didn’t want her reliving things that caused her heart to break in front of her. She wanted her to smile. To laugh at the silly things that they did. “It’s done, K. We both handled it badly, but I believe we’ve dealt with it. I don’t think it should be brought up again.” She paused as she thought about her next words carefully. Words mattered to Kalinda. If she could read between them, she would. “I only want you to tell me things you want to tell me. And that’s when and if you want. We just let the information come when and if it comes.”
Kalinda nodded, a few more tears falling. This time, Kalinda let them fall. She didn’t need to hide anymore. “Thank you, Alicia.”
She shook her head, glancing around to see if they were being watched. She could just assume she was always being watched. Especially after the incident in the ASAs office and county jail. She was surprised the reporters weren’t in her face already. “I’d hug you, but they turn everything I do into a sex scandal.”
Kalinda smiled and nodded. Not overly affectionate herself, but she knew Alicia communicated her feelings better physically. With a hug or a touch. It was used to emphasis her caring words. “I’m okay with that.”
Alicia shifted the car into gear. Laughing to herself. “I’m gonna hug you later though,” she said in that normal hyperactive Alicia tone.
Kalinda’s smile widened, taking Alicia’s hand over the gear shift. “I’m okay with that too.”

Gammatober, Day 28: Android
Tumblr media
The Tomorrow Men have met a lot of androids -- it seems like they were plentiful in the Shadow Years. At that time, the Mark 8 was (as far as they can tell) state of the art. The Mark VIII is outwardly “human passable”; there is nothing, cosmetically, that gives them away as artificial. But even a perfunctory medical exam will identify one as an android... Inside, they’re machines. Much of them is squishy and wet, but they’re unquestionably machines. Think Bishop from ‘Aliens’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe the Major from Ghost in the Shell, too.
Tumblr media
Over time, the PCs have seen most of the evolution of androids between their installation early in the 21st century and the time of the Apocalypse in the 24th century. The Mark I through IVs were clumsy, often looking like little more than mechanical skeletons, often with machinery and wires exposed. They never saw widespread use; they were physically unfit for most purposes, and technology advanced fast enough that each generation became obsolete as soon as it was fielded.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
C-3PO would be a Mark II or so.
Androids hit their stride with the Mark V. They were still simple: hard mannequin-like bodies and faces -- often with obvious seams where they needed articulation -- that looked human enough for users to engage with them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The PCs have met Mark Vs just about everywhere they could replace a human doing simple tasks: groundskeepers, store clerks and factory supervisors. They “liberated” a large number of them from the Home-World Super-Center in Muskegon, and met one named Kalinda Meyers on Grand Island.
After the Vs came the Mark VI: physically the same as the V, but with unconvincing rubbery skin that put them squarely in the uncanny valley. The PCs met one -- a former cop, whom they named Officer Krunky after some Japanese snacks Hillbilly’s player brought to the session -- but his skin had corroded off.

The Mark VII was another popular and widely-distributed stop along the android’s evolution. Inside, they were still plastic, metal and silicon. But their epidermal layers were much better. Close up, they were still artificial: there was something not quite right. But from a distance -- even across the room -- you could easily mistake them for real people. Think Star Trek’s Data, or Gary Numan circa 1978.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The medical installation in which the PCs live is staffed by Mark VIIs. This is how they were described in my notes for the session:
All of the androids are Mark VII’s — out of the “uncanny valley”, but not quite 100% human passable. There is a 50/50 mix of male and female androids, and it’s immediately obvious that they are all deliberately unremarkable — neither handsome nor unattractive. Equally deliberate is their “race”; in an almost conspicuously politically correct way, the androids’ skin-tones match the make-up of society of their time. The idea was to make them real enough to be seen almost as people, but not to the degree that they might ever “upstage” human staff and patients.
Which brings us to the Mark VIII, mentioned above. The PCs know one VIII -- they rescued him from Pinkeye the Wolverine in their first adventure. Mark 8, as he’s known, was a cyberneticist’s assistant with the Knights of Purity before being stolen and reprogrammed by the Army of the Bear. Mark 8 now spends some time at the PCs’ base and some time teaching the Bal’Cree Restorationist bad walk-into-a-bar* jokes.
So what comes after the Mark VIII? Was there ever a Mark IX? Not the PCs know of. If they exist, they’re sophisticated. Could they pass as human? To what degree? Could they pass a retina test? Blood? DNA? All good questions.
So what does canon say? Not enough for me, thus all this nonsense. Here is the 1e text:

And the cryptic alliance of androids and robots:

So that’s that.
* A Mark II android walks into a bar. He says to the bartender, “I’ll have a beer. And a mop.”

Character break down of Scott Fuller or Carlos Madrigal? Or both if you want 😉
Thanks for asking!! I’ll try to do both :P
Scott Fuller
How I feel about this character: I found him to be really whiny and selfish in the first two seasons, but I liked him in the third.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Not really anyone? Though in a couple of my WIPs I have him and Kalinda interested in each other. :P I think they’d be cute together. lol I don’t really ship him with anyone though.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Probably just his relationship with Kate because it’s so important to them both. I also am a total sucker for sibling relationships because they’re so underrated and they’re always my favorite. I have four siblings myself and I would die for them.
My unpopular opinion about this character: ehhh I don’t really have one? I like him, but I guess I don’t really know him well enough to have an opinion right now.
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: That he and Kate stayed together. It was so stupid that he was just gonna leave her to go play music immediately after rescuing her. Sorry to everyone who thinks s3 was perfection, but I disagree. That was dumb af.
Carlos Madrigal
How I feel about this character: Absolutely hate this mf-er.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: No one. He doesn’t deserve nice things.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Don’t have one.
My unpopular opinion about this character: He’s basically almost useless as a character? He’s a total middleman and has almost no bearing on the actual plot? If this were a book, he’s one of the characters you’d be told to combine with another more significant character to keep from having too large a cast of characters. lol Given that he just supposedly influences everyone else into doing things behind the scenes. And then when all the action is happening, he’s usually nowhere to be found? And they play off his presence like he’s this great mastermind/manipulator when all the characters were already gonna do what they were gonna do anyway regardless of his influence? And his motivations are so messy that he hardly even makes sense as a character and I don’t know why he’s even there? He’s not even a good villain tbh. Tanner even makes a better villain imo. :P Also in that scene right before he gets his head lobbed off? When Santanico struts in and “distracts” him and Richie stakes him? Wtf. That was just… so fucking stupid? lmfao
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: That he hadn’t killed Kate? And that he’d stayed dead? That would have been nice.
Give me a character!!

OUAT 3X08 - Think Lovely Thoughts
We’re nearing the end of the arc and it’s just utter PANdemonium!
Tumblr media
Shut up, Rumple! That was funny!
Anyway, to find out why, venture below the cut!
Press Release
Pan leads Henry to a secret cave, where he has convinced the boy that he alone can save magic and Neverland itself. But a showdown between good and evil is about to go down as Emma, Mary Margaret, David, Regina, Mr. Gold and Hook find themselves directly on a path to Pan in an effort to save Henry. Meanwhile, back in the Fairy Tale Land that was, young Rumplestiltskin is given a magical item that could help him make a fresh start with his father – who has been anything but a good dad.
Main Thoughts - Characters/Stories/Themes and Their Effectiveness
Past
This flashback may have one of OUAT’s most mature messages: Sometimes, family can be bad and they need to be cut away from you. There’s no hope of reconciliation and not even a removed heart to blame for it all. Sometimes, they’re just garbage people and trying to keep them in your life will only hurt you.
Malcolm’s abandonemt is one of the most malicious abandonments ever shown on the show. Like, had it not been for Gothel, it would probably be number 1. Malcolm sneers as he tells Rumple he’s the only thing holding him back and then just throws him to the metaphorical wolves. It’s the meanest kind of break up and making it familial just makes it so much sadder.
Present
Our present segment is kind of like “Into the Deep.” Like that episode, its character work is expressed not through more open-and-shut story, but through character interactions in the midst of plot progression. For a series like OUAT, I think these episodes are important because there’s always so much going on and this style keeps up the momentum of the season and of the two I’ve seen, I’ve liked them both!
It’s fantastic seeing everyone come together, flaws and and anger and all. We haven’t reached the “look how far we’ve come moment” yet, but the payoff is starting to emerge. We see bits of hope of reconciliation between Rumple and Neal, Neal forcing Rumple to do right by David, Neal and Killian working together better...yeah, there’s a lot of Neal, and I like that! Neal’s becoming a real favorite of mine and I’m really sad we’re gonna lose him soon.
But honestly, Pan is the true star of this episode again. What makes Pan such a good villain is how well he exploits tropes. He knows what buttons to press to make heroes do what he wants them to. “All heroes are tested.” He knew Henry would go tip over to his side with a line like that. Because Henry loves these tropes so well, Pan has been able to play him like a fiddle and that bit of manipulation is terrifying and fascinating.
Insights - Stream of Consciousness
-”Follow the lead, gents.” Not even being subtle (And I use subtle loosely), are we? XD
-”You’d be better off without him [Rumple’s Papa].” Fuck yeah, he would be!
-Wow, watching this again shows me just how much “The Black Fairy’s” flashback fucked us over. Like, here, Malcolm doesn’t outright detest Rumple, there are just a million things he’d rather do than take care of Rumple. In “The Black Fairy’s” flashback, well, he outright hates Rumple from the second he learns of Fiona’s fate.
-Pan’s influence and manipulation, not over just Henry, but all of the Lost Boys, is incredible!
-I fucking love the Spinsters. They are such sweet old ladies! They offer to teach Rumple and they’re so friendly! Rumple, stay with them forever. Tell Malcolm to fuck off!
-”Names always make things better.” FUCK. YOU.
-”I didn’t think I had any talent.” Damn! That is so sad! Baby Rumple went through a good chunk of his childhood without any real positive reinforcement. Like, I want to say what that does to a person, but we already know and...DAMNN.
-”Your father will always be your burden, Rumplestiltskin.” Honey, you don’t know the half of it.
-OMG! Malcolm did the Rumple laugh! I love this show!
-”But you trust me. Don’t you son?” “I want to.” Holy shit. That line could’ve come JUST AS EASILY out of Rumple and Bae’s mouths.
-Rumple’s family is so freakin’ ass-y with fathers and sons! Gideon, either don’t have kids or have those Belle genes kick themselves into high gear!
-”You suddenly interesting in what I have to say? Thought I wasn’t to be trusted.” Rumple, shut up. Your karma evaporated for a damn good reason! Don’t act hoity toity!
-”No deals, no favors, understand?” YESS KING! This is what I’m talking about with Neal. He’s not giving Rumple a fucking INCH and why should he? I said this before and I’ll say it again. Neal’s death had nothing to do with Emma but EVERYTHING to do with Rumple because Rumple would never be allowed to be sleazy again had Neal stayed alive.
-*Rumple grabs Killian’s sword right from his waist* *Jenna grins like a fucking idiot*
-”Thanks mate.” *A bro nod is exchanged* *Jenna grins harder*
-”You did that for me?” Let’s talk about this line. This fucking line! Neal never had anyone try to save him like this as a kid and now he learns that the Darling family was even more amazing than he ever thought! I love this show!
-”You told her I was dead?” NOT NOW, RUMPLE!
-”It was easier than telling the truth -- my own father abandoned me.” *Jenna cries like a little bitch*
-*Malcom falls* KARMA, BITCH!
-God, Malcolm is creepy as fuck as he remembers Neverland. He looks like he belongs in an asylum.
-”Well apparently, that’s the only thanks I need these days.” *sighs* You don’t get it now, Rumple, but you will in about four seasons.
-”You promise not to be long?” More like, “You promise not to BELONG?”
-“Because you don’t belong.” Holy crap! I wasn’t wrong!
-”Are you okay?” Neal, Emma just did a fucking back flip! You tell me!
-Blocking the moon out to get rid of shadows? Emma, you are a fucking genius! <3
-Is it any coincidence that I’m fucking humming “Brandy” while watching this episode? Damn, Guardians 2 hit me.
-”Oh, it’s for the best, Rumple.” Part of me isn’t sure if that’s the best bedside manner or not. On one hand, Fuck Malcolm with a rusty nail-covered bat. On the other hand, he’s an emotionally distraught child.
-”Pleasure to see you too, Baelfire.” Pan is such a little shit!
Arcs - How Are These Storylines Progressing?
The Mission to Save Henry - “We’re all going back. Together.” I love how everyone is together for the crescendo of the arc’s “climax” (Or one of like, three of them)! As I said before, it really delivers on the payoff promised at the end of Season 2 and the beginning of Season 3.
Emma Accepting Your Parents - “Maybe it’s just you rubbing off on me, but I refuse to believe that.” Until that line was said, to be honest, I was torn between being cynical of Emma for her rigid thoughts on family and her inability to understand the nuance of the situation and prideful in the character development she showed by fighting for her family. But once that line was said, I was on the latter side HARD! Also, this follows Emma’s line of thinking throughout the rest of the episode! She really wants to keep her parents!
Regina’s Redemption - Another small, yet big sign of Regina’s redemption is Regina apologizing for insinuating that Emma shouldn’t have rescued Neal right to Rumple’s face. Good job!!!
Killian’s Redemption - If my arch enemy called me a “cowardly pirate,” I wouldn’t smile. I’d gut him. I’m gonna give Killian points for being better than me in that regard!
Rumple’s Redemption - Rumple’s redemption is handled so well here! He’s still an asshole, almost charging David for the Dreamshade cure, but he’s really cooperating with the group because he knows he’s the center of a lot of bad blood. He’s trying to earn their trust because he knows Henry’s life means more than him being the top dog. And seeing him overcome his internal issues with Pan only to still lose hurts so much as a result!
Favorite Dynamic
The Nevengers and Rumple. Oh My Stars! The group teamup against Rumple was dramatic in the best way EVER. Just...everyone slowly making these points against Rumple as he weakly tries to throw a case for himself together was dramatic, tense, and incredible. All of Rumple’s bad karma comes to a head at the worst possible time and it is GLORIOUS! And the tense peace they reach is just as great! All of that distrust still remains, threatening to shake things up going forward. ”You life so much as a finger to perform magic, you’re gonna spend eternity in this box.” YESSS, Neal! And eventually, Rumple’s honorable decisions are recognized by Emma, Neal, and Regina!
Writer
David Goodman and Robert Hull are today’s writers and after their stellar start this season with “Nasty Habits,” I had high hopes for them. And they did a fantastic job here! Everything comes together very naturally, the dialogue is super en pointe, and the pacing for the packed story is just amazing!
Rating
Golden Apple. What an awesome episode. It’s a great rush seeing the final pieces come together for the grand Neverland rescue, seeing everyone work together as a team and sniping at each other while cooperating, and getting a great and comprehensive flashback at the same time! Also, everyone feels really intelligent and earnest to who they are and want to be, making this episode feel more real. It’s honestly such a great time watching it!
-----
Thank you for reading and sorry again for the smaller review. I got caught up by my backlog after coming home from the con and losing two of my review days, so it looks like you’ll probably be getting four reviews next week. Still, I promise I’ll make something a lot better for next time to redeem myself! In the meantime, I really appreciate your patience with me! <3
Also, thanks as always to the fine folks at @watchingfairytales for putting this project together!

FOR ANDI: Vetra 3 / Liam 4 / Cora 5 / Drack 4 / Peebee 2 & 4 / Jaal 4
Vetra 3. Was your Ryder street smart and willing to use whatever means necessary, like Vetra? Did they share the same mindset or did they clash often?Andi got on great with Vetra.  Andi’s definitely not as street-smart as Vetra, but she trusted Vetra’s methods and intel to get them what they needed without being needlessly cruel.
Liam 4. How close did your Ryder get with Liam? Did they click immediately or did it take time? Did they become good friends or simply allies forced to work together? Andi and Liam clicked pretty quickly, and they became great friends.  They only clashed when Liam fucked up in the Angara market.  Andi doesn’t mind it when friends need her do something under the radar, but not telling her about it first is a giant no-no.
Cora 5. What did your Ryder think of Cora’s dream for a garden, of something to outlive them? Did your Ryder prefer to live in the moment or dream of the future?Andi appreciates the sentiment and supports it, but she’s very definitely not a long-term planner.  She just prefers to take things as they come rather than making future plans.  Nothing in her life has ever worked out like she expected, so she just gave up on trying to plan the future anymore.
Drack 4. Did your Ryder save Pathfinder Raeka or Drack’s krogan scouts and why? If Drack had not been a member of Ryder’s squad, would they have chosen differently?Andi saved Drack’s scouts, because she saw how close the kett were to perfecting krogan exaltation and she wasn’t going to give them anymore opportunity to figure it out, and she didn’t think she could look Drack in the eye if she didn’t rescue them.  She probably would’ve made the same decision regardless of Drack’s presence on her team, just because of the exaltation thing.
Peebee 2. Did your Ryder share Peebee’s fascination with the Remnant? Were they bent on solving the mystery or more focused on making Heleus a home? Did their opinion conflict with Peebee’s? Andi’s fascination with the remnant had more to do with her wanting to know how it affected the planets’ habitation and making Heleus a home than the mystery behind the creators.  If she hadn’t been saddled with the Pathfinder position, she probably would’ve ha more similar interests to Peebee’s given her history on the Prothean digs.
Peebee 4. What became of Kalinda? What did your Ryder think of her? How did your Ryder’s relationship with Peebee change afterwards?Andi is always on the side of life over stuff, so she didn’t kill Kalinda.  She still thinks Kalinda is an awful person who needs to fucking get a life instead of trying to ruin her ex’s.  Andi and Peebee’s relationship pretty much stays the same.
Jaal 4. How did your Ryder interact with the Angara? Did they attempt to be diplomatic? How did Jaal react to your Ryder’s intentions?Andi’s about as diplomatic as a sack of potatoes, but she made an honest effort to show her intentions towards the angara were good.  Given how open the angara were with their feelings, it probably helped diplomatic relations a lot that she has all the talent of a toddler when it comes to subterfuge.  It certainly helped with her relationship with Jaal, he never felt like she had any ulterior motive because it was clear she’d be incapable of concealing it.

I was tagged by @dearophelia , @spinninglenny and @kiramaesavestheworld for the Ryder Files, but haven’t been at the desktop where the caps are for days!
(Quick note: some of this stuff may change. I really started to understand her partway through, which means a second playthrough will probably be more accurate re: decisions etc.)
Calliope “Cal” Alexandra Ryder (her brother is Perseus “Percy” Harlow Ryder)
Combat Training: Technician
Favorite Profile: Switches between Infiltrator with Cloak/VI/Flamethrower and Engineer with Turret/Incinerate/Overload. I headcanon that she has very, very weak biotics, mostly just able to defend with them but not so much with the attacks etc.
Personality Type: Emotional/Professional, though by the end of the game she is a lot more Emotional/Casual. (As she gets more comfortable with her role and her people.)
Love Interest: Jaal ama Darav. She also had a casual fling with Peebee and flirted a lot with Vetra and Reyes. She has a crush on Kandros. Relationships are a complicated thing with her; I didn’t get a handle on it until later, though. We’ll see how the second round goes. (Though she’ll always end up with Jaal, unless she messes up!) She’s basically pansexual, panromantic. She’s not that interested in maintaining multiple serious relationships, though. Even the thought is far too overwhelming. Love makes her pretty monogamous (but looking is still fine. And admiring. Kandros please.).
Major Decisions:
scientific first colony
saved the angara but killed the Cardinal
rescued Raeka and the salarians (and felt REALLY bad about the krogan)
kept Sarissa as Pathfinder after telling the truth about what she did
let Akksul shoot Jaal
saved Kalinda
gave the krogan the drive core
drew the line at a sniper taking someone out in a one-on-one battle but did not shoot Reyes. She wasn’t super happy about how this left Sloane in charge.
supported the Moshae as ambassador
Fellow Pathfinders: Raeka, Sarissa, Avitus
SOME THINGS ABOUT HER:
Cal’s far more book smart than street smart. She loves things deeply, but her strange upbringing (and parents obsessed with their own work) made her skittish about sharing. She wants to, though. She wants to share things. She’s enthusiastic, excited, loves learning, is passionate about tech, and loves discovery and exploration. She likes burning things with fire and tinkering and building stuff. She also likes taking things apart. Part of the reason she adapts so well to SAM is that she’s very comfortable with tech, and isn’t afraid of it. She is honest. Like, painfully. Even when a little white lie would help her out, she’s still honest.
Because she’s always thinking and planning and tinkering, she doesn’t spare a lot of time for her appearance. I know there are no damn long hairstyles, but I think she has long hair she wears braided or up in a bun because she doesn’t think about cutting it. Cora’s the one that suggests Cal maybe go easy on the whole hoodie look, putting together the jacket and scarf combo that looks a little more... professional. A lot of times, what you see with Cal is what you get. She doesn’t prevaricate. She does genuinely love the people around her though, which is good, because it would get awkward otherwise. (Every interaction she has with Sloane and Tann is awkward.)
Cal’s family relationships are complicated. She loves her brother unconditionally, though; they are very close, even if she does feel like she was often in his shadow. He’s the powerful biotic; he’s the one who excelled at the combat stuff; he’s the one who gets along with people wherever he goes. Percy’s also the one who wanted to go to Andromeda. Cal... couldn’t bear losing Percy. She still misses the Milky Way a lot. Often painfully.
Because she’s default honest, she told Percy about their dad and about the messed-up state of Andromeda, and felt bad about it when he reacted so poorly. She didn’t get as much from her parents as she needed--they loved her, but not the way she needed or wanted. She grew up pretty starved for affection, which, in turn, has a serious affect on how she perceives relationships in general. (The angara are a revelation to her. FEELINGS. EVERYWHERE. AND THEY’RE ALLOWED! ENCOURAGED, EVEN! It’s almost too much to take in.)
Though canon says she was security on those Prothean digs, Cal was definitely interested in more than that. She was all about the Protheans and their tech; security was just how she got herself close to the really interesting stuff.
After the battle of the Citadel (and, honestly, maybe earlier OKAY EARLIER) she has a serious case of Commander Shepard hero worship. Um. Crush. Ugh. SHE HAS THE BIGGEST CRUSH ON (my) COMMANDER SHEPARD. In fact, once she gets the hang of the R&D stuff, she builds herself the best Black Widow, mods it all to hell, and names it SHEPARD. (If you tell anyone, she will probably kill you.) However, she never considers wearing the N7 armor. Dad or no dad, she did not earn it and won’t pretend she did. (Honesty!)
Maybe that’s enough for now? Maybe. Uh. There’s a lot more ;)

introducing the 311th Aerial Assault Division, featuring Skulk Squad!
Jedi General Plikh’adi’razna
Jedi Commander Tal Hardin
Commander Alasdair [CC-4440]
Captain Bhatair [CT-4441]
Lieutenant Catcher [CT-3690]
Lieutenant Flint [CT-3360]
Sergeant Kenneth [CT-2410]
Sergeant Mercury [CT-3770]
Sergeant Kalinda [CT-3130]
Specialist Digger [CT-4250]
okay so a quick rundown of the squad, who they are and what they do:
They are a division most skilled in aviation, jetpacking, rockets and sniping. Additionally they will provide scouting and rescue ops
They are tactical and ready for whatever comes their way, always sticking to the mission and doing it flawlessly
Their insignia is a Vulptex (crystal fox)
Their colours are deep blue and gold
Skulk Squad, especially, is a tightly knit group and they love each other very much
They have a team droid called RU5-7E, aka Rusty, whose job is maintaining ships and firearms. He is a very meticulous droid and ensures nothing is wrong. He frequents operations and is in charge of navigation when the troops are tired
Skulk Squad have a good reputation for blowing up at least one thing on a mission, nothing compared to the racketous 501st that is
The 311th are close with the 104th in the way that they both do rescue missions and that their generals respect one another. They are both very professional units and sometimes pair up like how the 212th does with the 501st
Now, onto the squad itself:
General Plikh’adi’razna is a female Chiss Jedi known by her core name of Khadira. She is calm, collected and caring, especially to her brothers and sisters of the 311th. She often sleeps in the barracks with her troops and wears the armour alongside her robes. Her lightsaber is blue and was crafted with fine metals from Csilla, her home planet. While Khadira is an excellent liar, she does not fare well on undercover operations. She won’t hesitate to use a blaster (sniper rifles, baby) and is an ace pilot, having been taught by the best of the best. Khadira seems cold at first glance (physically and emotionally) but she doesn’t hide her caring nature behind a façade; she reminds those close to her to look after themselves, reminding them to hydrate or eat a meal — and every once in a while when not knee-deep in combat, Khadira will cook them meals. Her intellect is one of her strongest qualities and can often be found strategising with her commanders. Khadira is no stranger to joking and will disguise her silly jokes behind walls of complexity.
Commander Tal Hardin is a male Twi’lek Jedi padawan, in his youth during the height of the Clone Wars. He has been apprenticed to Khadira since he was twelve (he was fifteen at the start of the war and eighteen at the end). He also wears armour and robes per his own request and happens to be an excellent pilot. He has a knack for painting and collecting rocks, often combining the two past-times and gifting the vode colourful pebbles he finds on missions. Tal is a better pilot than his master but often leaves the flying to the adults. He has a habit of getting into fights even though he is quite composed (if someone says something about his brothers and sisters, he is absolutely ready to throw fists and bust noses). Tal loves to joke around, especially when en route to an op, and can often be seen messing around with Merc and Flint. When he isn’t on a mission, he likes to hang out with the younglings and help them paint whatever they desire. As well as that, Tal has somewhat of a need to document his journeys and carries a holo recorder with him, capturing every moment. His lightsaber is indigo.
Commander Alasdair (CC-4440) is the commander of the 311th. He is a tactical and serious man, taking his job quite seriously. His specialty lies within recon and recovery but will go frontline and centre. He has a strong sense of leadership and is quick to take point in any situation, being sharp-witted and ready for anything. When he isn’t on an op, Alasdair is slumped in with filing reports and needing a relaxing bath. When he gets too stressed, his vode make it their goal to cheer him up, showing the love that they have for one another. Alasdair is responsible for all of the plants in the 311 barracks and finds tending to them the most therapeutic activity. He asks Tal to give them all names and he delivers, finding a friend in the young padawan (at this point, Tal is like his son or nephew). At first, he was a little wary of Khadira but over the course of a few months, Alasdair grew to like her a lot, to the point of admiration. They treat each other like old friends and often get together and go plant shopping when off-duty. His name is pronounced as Ah-less-dare.
Captain Bhatair (CT-4441) is the captain of the 311th. He is known best as the primary sniper for Skulk Squad and it shows. He is all about experience and following the rules, much like Commander Alasdair. Bhatair is a quiet and soft-spoken man, often keeping to himself and minding his own. However, he is not by any means an introvert and finds himself out with the vode at 79’s on a free day. His close-range vision isn’t the best and on a bad day he can have something right in front of him and miss it completely. But this only means he is an excellent scout and sniper. Bhatair and Alasdair are batch twins but Bhatair will never hear the end of his code being the odd one out. He likes cooking with Catcher and goes out to find ingredients of his own. He trusts Khadira and Tal with his life and vice versa. Bhatair is also surprisingly good at space board games. His name is pronounced Vah-tair (alternatively Wa-tair), like the air in hair.
Lieutenant Catcher (CT-3690) is one of the lieutenants of the 311th. He is known as Skulk Squad’s medic rifleman and is always prepared for an emergency. His tendency to be prepared comes in handy for every situation, be it an actual medical issue or something mundane. Catcher is also the renowned chef of the group and tries to ensure that his family eat more than the useless ration bars. He is kind, gentle and never raises his voice out of anger, for he’s extremely patient with people and animals. He’s the type to embrace mistakes and is often seen as the group’s mother figure, as Catcher is the one they all go to when they have a problem, big or small. Catcher enjoys space baseball and that’s where his name originated from. Because of his liking to the sport, Catcher is an fantastic grenadier and has the best arm out of the GAR. Nickname is Catch.
Lieutenant Flint (CT-3360) is the second lieutenant of the 311th. He is a joker, the lovable class-clown of Skulk Squad. His joy in life is making others laugh, or at least pulling a harmless prank on them. He and Mercury should not be allowed near each other or in the same room better yet. He favours doing the mission his way, but if given strict orders, he will follow them to the key. Preferring the classic akimbo blaster pistols, Flint loves to charge head first into battle. He often ends up the most injured after every mission and he pretends to give Catcher a headache (although Catch is quite happy to fix Flint up every day or so). Flint is one of the more charismatic members of the 311th and often strikes up conversations with civilians because who will stop him? He acts first and thinks much, MUCH later, but always has the best interest at heart. His name originated from the time he tripped during live training and ended up with a bit of flint in his head.
Sergeant Kenneth (CT-2410) is the first sergeant of the 311th. He is the go-to explosives and weapons expert, in charge of making sure his fellow troops are well-armed and their gear is maintained. He likes to get the mission done and then carry on with his day, straightforward. Kenneth hates wasting time and doesn’t tolerate it when his vode mess about on missions. He can be a little standoffish to newcomers, but he is always, always caring to civvies, valuing their lives most importantly. When he isn’t tending to weapons, Kenneth likes to build things, or rather dabble in carpentry. He is also Rusty’s best friend, always hanging around the team droid whenever he can (they are besties, your honour). He is no stranger to snide comments if something annoys him. Nickname is Ken, like space Barbie’s Ken.
Sergeant Mercury (CT-3770) is the second sergeant of the 311th. He is the musician of the group and aims to make his squadmates happy, much like Flint. He is easily the most artistic member of the squadron and adorns his standard-issue rifle in glow-in-the-dark stickers. Merc loves all things neon and bright, his hair always ending up something of the like, usually pink. His vode tease him for breaking into the coolant because of this. He’s a gentle and caring man, and especially with children. Mercury is somewhat of a secondary medic to Catcher, since he was originally a medic but dropped out when he realised how gruesome the job was. He retains his knowledge and is always ready to help when he can. Merc often gifts his siblings with random trinkets he picks up on missions. He is like a corvid, he can’t resist shiny things. Merc is equipped with pockets and pouches on his armour filled with all sorts of tidbits, like glow-sticks, snacks or his space harmonica. He also has a multi-use computer screen on his vambrace (can jack into droid ports, play his tunes on his speaker, do medical scans on the fly, map reading etc etc). He also pays visits to Corrie HQ and plays songs to keep the Guard entertained. Loves Tal like a son.
Sergeant Kalinda (CT-3130) is the third sergeant of the 311th. She is the explosives expert of the squad, definitely more invested than Ken. Not only that, she is the second sniper of the group, just behind Bhatair. Kalinda is a fast thinker and strategist, often hatching plans with her general. She is fearless and is the icon of bravery for the 311th. She is the big sister of the group and teases her brothers often. Kalinda has been nicknamed the Firebird for her tendency to use fire explosives on missions. While a bit of a pyromaniac, Kalinda is one of the most sensible members of Skulk Squad and loves her team more than anything in the galaxy. Her nickname is Kal, never Linda. The last person who called her Linda got a smack in the face, curtesy of Alasdair. She likes to sing along with Mercury’s harmonica and often sit around bonfires/campfires just to make music and enjoy life. She is the only member of the group except Khadira who is fluent in Mando’a. Speaking of, Khadira and Kalinda are very close and are practically like sisters.
Specialist Digger (CT-4250) is a specialist agent of the 311th. He was transferred late to the squad (the last year in the war after his previous battalion was wiped clean) and took some time fitting in. He is a chill and likeable man, often just going with the wave that comes his way. He is best known for his superb jetpacking skills. He likes to dig a lot, with shovels, with spades, with his bare hands, whatever the reason, Digger will be digging on a mission. His nickname is Digs, rightfully coined by Flint.
Some author’s notes:
Some of their names are Scottish Gaelic to represent me as a person (namely Alasdair and Bhatair, Alexander and Walter as their English equivalents respectively)
The first person created for this squadron was Mercury as I had little to no SW ocs
Kalinda is my crumb of trans rep for my ocs and I love her very much!
Merc was first introduced in the wonderful fanfic metamorphosis by my main brother @fooolisher (please go check it out, it really explores Clone Trooper Sister and her origin! it’s beautifully written too)
Digger’s first battalion was indeed Sha Koon’s battalion after the battle of Giju. After seeing his commander die and his general end up severely wounded, Digger filed a transfer with Plo Koon and Plo made sure that Digger went to a good squad, thus ending up with Skulk Squad
Skulk Squad is named after a skulk of foxes, a reference to the Vulptex
Khadira possesses the Plikh name of the Nine Ruling Families of the Chiss Ascendency and I have no idea why or how she ended up across the galaxy as a Jedi
There is a running joke within the squad that everyone has the number zero at the end of their code except Bhatair, who has a one
Skulk Squad make fun of the 501st, lovingly of course
They have a gunship called The Daunting and their republic cruiser is aptly named The Dauntless
Thanks for making it this far, folks! 💜

The Ryder Files
Sara Ryder
Combat Class:Sentinel Personality Type: Emotional with a bit of casual thrown in for good measure. Love Interests: Sara started the journey with an open mind and found something familiar with Liam. However she began to feel like he didn’t trust her which ended it before it really began. She started relieving stress with Peebee and almost fell for the Charlatan. In the end, Jaal and his larger than life emotions pulled her in and she was his “darling one” completely.
Major Decisions ● Sara decided that a scientific outpost on Eos was in the best interest of the initiative. ●Sara rescued the Angara on Voeld instead of blowing up the building. She did shoot the Cardinal though. ●On the Asari Ark Sara brought Sarissas lie to light and supported Vederia as new Pathfinder. She felt that the Initiative needed a fresh unjaded start in Heleus. ● Sara was devestated by the whole situation surrounding the Turian Ark. Her heart ached for Avitus and his sorrow over losing Macen. She talked him into becoming Pathfinder in his honor. ●Sara brought Jaal and Drack with her on the Archons ship. Her loyalty to Drack probably swayed her a bit into rescuing the Krogan Scouts. The Krogans have already been through so much… but Raeka… it was not an easy choice. ●When they discovered the ancient Angaran AI on Voeld Sara was amazed but also wary. She did save it and gave it to Angara. She did not feel it was her place to make that decision. ●Sara did not stop the Sniper from killing Sloane in Kadara. She once had feelings for Reyes Vidal and even now she considered him a friend. She felt like his heart was in the right place. ●Sara gave Morda the Remnant drive core in hope of starting a new era of relations between the Krogan and Nexus. Krogan and everyone really. ●Sara trusted Jaal and did not shoot Akksul even though the thought of him dying made her heart ache. Pure fear radiated through her body making it feel as frozen as she was in the Archons containment field. ●During Peebees loyalty mission Sara got antsy and killed Kalinda. She had known people like her before and she wants nothing more than for Peebee to be able to move on with her life. Plus she tried to kill us first! ●Sara did not accept the offer from the Primus. We don’t trust or deal with Kett. ●Sara named Bradley as representative. She was tired and he seemed a safe bet until they could have a vote.

17-22 (All the squad!)
I’m going to answer these for Asha (if you want Zoya too, drop me a line!)
17. Cora: After discovering the truth about Sarissa’s actions with the previous pathfinder, did Ryder keep her secret, or inform the rest of the Asari? Was Sarissa allowed to maintain her post, or was Vederia promoted?
Asha did inform the rest of the Asari (although I think Cora does that after you make the decision? Anyhow..) She is So Very Done with secrets! No more secrets. Asha was also not very charmed by Cora’s tendency to put certain people on pedestals (even less so when it was Alec), which made her decide *against* allowing Sarissa to keep her post. She is fairly allergic to people who always think they know better, if that makes sense.
Me and Asha both like how supportive Cora becomes of Vederia, when she gets that post :)
18. Liam: How did Ryder feel about Liam’s actions? Did Ryder choose to detain Verand after the mission’s end?
Ahh Liam. “Liam NO!” has become a thing on the Tempest as far as Asha is concerned. She doesn’t detain Verand, as she doesn’t really have a reason to. Not that she approves, exactly, what Liam has done, but she kind of approves with the ideas behind it.
19. Vetra: Was Ryder supportive of Sid’s actions, or agree with Vetra that Sid wasn’t ready to see this side of their work? Did Ryder take the risk and shoot Meriweather?
She was in two minds about it? On one hand, it is good to have your kid-time when you grow up, but there is also that moment where the kid is not a kid any longer. Asha had a very hard time to decide whether that *now*is the time to be involved for real, but it was very clear to her that it was very much the time Vetra and Sid needed to talk about it. Ryder did definitely take the risk to shoot Meriweather! She is an excellent sniper after all, and she had no reason to believe they would all come out alive otherwise. (I have no idea what happens if you don’t shoot?)
20. PeeBee: After launching the escape pod, Peebee asked if you were mad.  Were you? How did you handle Kalinda in the moment where she begs for Peebee’s help?
Definitley mad. Asha was very angry. The only reason she did not shoot Kalindra’s hand is because Peebee really did not want her to. Otherwise she’d have become volcano food for sure. She figured she could deal with her again later, if necessary.
(I’m sad there wasn’t more to this story. Kalindra is pretty much a cartoon villain here and I don’t like it much. Both for her and Peebee’s sake. Bc. it opens up the question ‘why did you even have her as friend in the past’ and that’s not good story telling. I mean I have no doubt that they had a real thing, but it’s not even told, let alone shown…)
21. Drack: After exposing Spender on the Nexus, his punishment options are imprisonment or exile.  Which did Ryder choose? Upon rescuing Vorn and the Seed Vault, Drack threatens the life of Spender’s associate, Aroan.  Did Ryder allow his death?
Ahh well usually Asha goes with whatever Drack wants, so Spender got exiled. I did keep Aroan alive though, as he was more use alive than dead. They could always exile him too later, right?
22. Jaal: Jaal asks Ryder to follow his lead, and not be tempted to take Aksuul’s life, but there is a real moment when Aksuul seems as though he is going to shoot Jaal in the face.  How did Ryder feel?  What did Ryder do: shoot first, or trust Jaal?
Asha felt absolutely terrified and terrible during that mission. She trusts Jaal and did not shoot, but managed that only barely. The whole ordeal definitely gave her nightmares for a while!

17—22
I did 18 and 19!
Cora: After discovering the truth about Sarissa’s actions with the previous pathfinder, did Ryder keep her secret, or inform the rest of the Asari? Was Sarissa allowed to maintain her post, or was Vederia promoted?
Leah told.  She’s not at all happy with this idea of how Sarissa tried to keep her status. She wanted to leave it in the hands of the asari and when the captain decided to hand it to Vederia, she backed it up.
PeeBee: After launching the escape pod, Peebee asked if you were mad.  Were you? How did you handle Kalinda in the moment where she begs for Peebee’s help?
Leah was…pretty mad.  She needs a moment to refocus.  But she saves Kalinda when Peebee asks.  PB doesn’t need that on her conscious.
Drack: After exposing Spender on the Nexus, his punishment options are imprisonment or exile.  Which did Ryder choose? Upon rescuing Vorn and the Seed Vault, Drack threatens the life of Spender’s associate, Aroan.  Did Ryder allow his death?
Exile (she figures he has too many contacts on the Nexus to make it secure) and she lets Drack drop Aroane.
She trusts Jaal, though it takes all she has not to pull the trigger.  But, god, does she shake later.

andromeda ask meme - 2, 3, 4, 10, 20, 23, 25, 28, 30 for Claudia please!
2. Feelings on being the Pathfinder?
She’s happy to do it, but feels intimidated by the shoes she has to fill, even if it seems to have been her father’s will, not just a snap judgement to save her life.
3. Your Pathfinder’s feelings on SAM?
She was on Eden Prime during Saren’s attack, and seeing her friends and colleagues being put on those spikes deeply affected her, particularly after she realized the husks she was killing to survive had been those same friends.  So she has a deep mistrust of AI in general, and it took both Alec and Josh (her twin) a long time to convince her to get the implant.  She basically felt the same way Drack does.  But she and SAM eventually bonded and it didn’t take as long as she anticipated for her to actually fully trust him with her life.
4. When your comatose sibling asked about the current situation in Andromeda, did Ryder lie or tell the truth about Alec Ryder and Habitat 7? Why?
Claudia’s a fair liar, will lie to just about anyone if the situation warrants it, except her brother and her father.  So she told Josh the absolute painful truth when he asked, no matter how much it hurt her to say it or him to hear it, he appreciated her honesty when he finally woke.
10. Kadara: Did Ryder side with Sloane Kelley, or the Charlatan? Why?
The Charlatan; she didn’t entirely trust him, but she absolutely did not trust Sloane Kelley at all, not a single word she said.  She basically had Liam shadow her whenever she walked “alone” in Kadara Port, not trusting that Sloane wouldn’t take her out.
20. PeeBee: After launching the escape pod, Peebee asked if you were mad.  Were you? How did you handle Kalinda in the moment where she begs for Peebee’s help?
No, she wasn’t mad; by that point, she was more than used to PeeBee’s antics.  Drack was a little ticked though lolClaudia’s finger was on the trigger, but in the end, she let Kalinda live.  She figured no one, save maybe Sloane Kelley, deserved that kind of death.  And Kalinda was a valuable source of information and assets afterward.  So it all worked out in the end.
23. Does Ryder agree with Suvi’s spiritual perspective on the universe?
Yes.
25. Was Ryder supportive of Gil’s decision to become a father?
Yes.
28. Upon boarding the Archon’s ship, Ryder discovers that the Kett have been experimenting on the Krogan.  Does Ryder rescue the Krogan captives, or opt instead to save the Salarian Pathfinder, Zevin Raeka?
She saved Raeka, but felt guilty every time she looked at Drack after that.  She felt like his words of “Earn this” to Raeka were also directed at herself, as she felt she had to re-earn his trust.
30. Ryder Family Secrets: Did Ryder unlock all of their father’s memories and encrypted logs?  I’ll leave this open-ended to encourage wordy responses, but how does Ryder feel about what they learned?
Absolutely.  She was almost frenzied in her search for the memory triggers, thirsty for more contact with her parents.  She never faulted Alec for all the secrets he kept from her and Josh, and probably from Ellen as well, knowing he had his reasons.  And though they were secrets, he never lied to them.
She was amazed but not wholly surprised when she discovered what he’d done.  For as little as he ever outwardly showed it, she knew how much Alec loved all three of them and would do anything in his power to save any one of them.
