I feel like @sloaners fic, Akatsuki Babysitter's Club is such a classic naruto fic, definitely up there in "the fics most ever" but I can recognize Im possibly biased and projecting my own experience w the fic onto the fandom

Anyways I re-read it yesterday, and it was just as much of a riot as the first time I read it. Then I laid down to sleep and stared at the ceiling then shot up and immediatley went to my tablet and the next thing I knew it was 8 am and I hadn't slept at all, but I did make this cute comic for the fic, so !!!

Sakura thought this mission couldn't get worse. She understood that as a chunin, and especially as a medical ninja, she would have to work with all kinds of people, but being in a team with two of her teachers seemed like a special kind of hell.

In theory, she understood why Tsunade-sama had made the decision: A couple of missing-nin had kidnapped an Academy student, the child of two jonin, while he was with his parents. They had killed the father and only let the mother live to carry their demands to Konoha. The third member of the group was severely injured and needed medical attention. That was their random; medical attention for the remaining missing nin.

Sakura herself was there to give the medical attention. Iruka was there because his mother was hospitalized, and apparently the kid was close with his teacher. Kakashi was there… Well, because he was one of the strongest jonin of Konoha, probably.

But if she screwed up in this mission, she'd never live down the shame, not with Kakashi and Iruka to witness it.

They were currently on their way to the missing nin's last known location. She was moving through the trees with Iruka. Kakashi was not in view, and she couldn't even feel his presence at all. He had direct orders from the Hokage to interfere only if things got ugly (and the way she had narrowed her eyes at Kakashi had been telling). They were supposed to do the exchange, taking as few risks as possible, and only try to capture the missing-nin if they had an opportunity.

i am not usually interested in dramatically canon-divergent scenarios because the canon story is what compels me, but i've been obsessed with this moment ever since i re-heard it during my second viewing. from the perspective of someone who already finished the story once and now knows the truth - this was wild.

An interesting little fun thing with team 7 is that you assume that Sakura's gonna, like, woobify and simplify Sasuke by putting him on a pedastal,cause her goal is centered around him and shes a 12 y/o fangirl so like of course her understanding of him is skewed cause she doesnt see him as a person, just an object of affection, right? She's can't get Sasuke, can't imprint on and/or traumabond with him like Naruto and Kakashi do. They don't see him with rose tinted glasses, because they've lived through their own Horrors and empathize with Sasuke's experience.

......right?

WRONG lmao!! They have too many ghosts!! Naruto's single-minded codependent ass won't get out of his own way long enough to see Sasuke for who he actually is, only able to empathize with the parts of his trauma Naruto relates to and not really capable of understanding him outside of the context of himself (because Sasuke is. His other half). And Kakashi is far too jaded to be fair to him!! He can't decide if Sasuke is gonna end up as a mini-him or a mini-Obito or maybe a mini-Itachi, but either way he ALSO is too traumatized to see Sasuke AS SASUKE.

meanehile SAKURA'S autistic ass may have dogshit empathy, but you know what she does have? A special interest in sasuke. Nothing better to do then give herself a degree in Uchihaisms. She can write character studies about him. she can read his soul. Whenever she says something about him she is right. Every fucking time! She is RIGHT!!!!
