Next up in my semi popular series Hänsel Analysis, where I analyse characters and such that are normally underrated or unpopular or just interesting, we’re talking Kaspar Blankenheim.
Kaspar is a bit of a unique case here as he never gets any proper screen time. He has no lines of dialogue and we never see him while he’s alive. We know that he cheated a lot, that he took advantage of Margarita for her money, and that he was among the first she ever poisoned with Gift.
Seems a bit of an asshole, doesn’t he? You’re right. Yet of course we should try and interpret more of Kaspar’s past to understand what makes him the way he is. Maybe make a good interpretation of this blue haired bastard.
Speaking of blue haired bastards, let’s address the elephant in the room. We know that Margarita - the real one - died at birth, and was replaced by the Clockworker’s Doll, at the time occupied by Eve Moonlit. We know “Margarita” was drawn to Kaspar due to his similarities to Adam. Yet did you know this is the only time in the series when Eve - by herself - is drawn to an Adam lookalike? Platonic, though replaced by Eve, shows no intrigue in Carlos. Mikulia Calgaround never met an Adam lookalike. Michaela, though an Eve lookalike, was not replaced by Eve, though Kyle, an Adam lookalike, did fall in love with her. So why here in particular does Eve and an Adam lookalike have this connection? Is it because of the wooden ring? Whatever the reason, there is some connection between Margarita and Kaspar.
There are several OSS characters and references floating around at this point though:
Kaspar - Adam lookalike Margarita - Eve replacement Mayrana - follows the Meta sect Lemy - Hänsel reincarnation “Ney” - Gretel’s identity Julia - Irina's identity Hanne - Elluka’s identity
As well as some Pride Arc references:
Gatt - descendant of Gast Rin - Riliane lookalike
Back with Kaspar though. It’s very obvious that Kaspar must have had insecurities. To backtrack on his past, his father Kaidor murdered his mother for cheating on him when presumably Kaspar was still extremely young. After that, Kaidor ran away, and Kaspar was taken in by his uncle Karl, who became Marquis himself.
Did Kaspar know he was adopted? If no, then he would have been prideful. If yes, he would have been bitter towards his true father. Either way works. We know very little about Kaspar’s teenage years, however it must have felt extremely lonely. The only named friend we know he had is a fellow Marquis called Cle Mence who attends his funeral. You could make the case that Kaspar in general had difficulties in speaking with people and kept to higher classes, which explains his friendship with Cle as well as his several marriage candidates.
I would say he takes a lot for granted as he entrusts Margarita to do everything around the mansion, he is indeed a spoiled rich boy. Though here’s something telling. Kaspar does have elements of the three chronological sinners so far. He presents lust in the several mistresses he has, gluttony in how he wastes his fortune on cigars and luxuries, and pride in his general brazen attitude. Of course he also embodies greed, though it is interesting how he incorporates the earlier sins as well.
His attitude towards Père Noël is also interesting. Upon joining, we know that he owns Grim the End, and hands it over to Irina. Of course, Grim the End is the residence of Seth and - well - Adam. Kaspar has had the soul of Adam in his possession the entire time. There is no way in the Hellish Yard that he wasn’t somewhat aware of the true power of Grim the End. We’ve seen characters be influenced by the vessels before and after this, and we have Lemy at the same time speaking with Gretel through the Glass of Conchita. It is entirely possible, of course, that he had been manipulated through Seth and Adam depending on how long he’s owned the key. Grim the End appears to be Kaspar’s own possession considering he sells off Margaritas, so you can assume he’s had it for a long time. Well, it was Kaidor’s himself, so of course he has.
Kaspar generally doesn’t have a lot to go off from. But he isn’t just some character you hear about once and disappears forever. There is a story, a substance towards him. A loneliness feeding on despair that leads to sin if you think about it that way. He isn’t someone to be pitied. But at the same time he can be interpreted as a very intriguing character.
And give him some dialogue, mothy, don’t be a coward.

May I ask a possibly weird/dumb question?
I was reading JoC's novel, and in one part, Gallerian says or supposes that he is a descendant of Kyle Marlon, but my question is, how? Reading the novels at no point is he established as a mate, only that Yukina went to live with him and I highly doubt they had a child together. I also don't think he is Arkatoir's since he had red hair.
And also in the novel Gift from the Princess who Brought Sleep, there is a blue-haired Marlon, but he was killed by Kaidor Blankenheim and he took his place.
I mean, Kyle doesn't have to have had a child with Yukina specifically to have had a child at all. He spent time traveling the world first, after all, and he could have also found someone even after reuniting with her. Just because it isn't described doesn't mean it can't have happened (and--I mean, it has to have, otherwise we wouldn't have blue-haired Marlons past this point at all).
And as for Kaidor, considering we have branch families like the Blankenheims, I'm sure there's more than one line of blue-haired Marlons that could have led down to Gallerian.
But if you're wondering how he's related to the Freezises, that's through Perrie Cutie Marlon.

Part 2, Chapter 1-To Merrigod Plateau, and Sixth, Venom; Scene 2
Fifth, Pierrot, pages 202-205
EC 611, January 26th.
Julia Abelard, president of the Lucifenian Republic, announced her resignation, and then went missing immediately afterward.
The same day, World Police commissioner Hank Harewood conducted an emergency conference at the headquarters in Marlon and put Asmodean vice-general Gatt Coulomb on their wanted list as the murderer of Bruno Marlon/Kaidor Blankenheim.
That night, Phoebe Aymieux was arrested by the World Police as a conspirator with “Pere Noel”.
.
January 28th.
Police officers had entered the now-uninhabited Abelard estate for their investigation.
One young officer stood there at the front gate.
Two people approached him.
The woman in the wheelchair spoke up. “Might I get through?” Of course, the general public wasn’t allowed entry. This was a police investigation after all. When the officer relayed that to her, she pointed to the other woman behind her and said, “She’s Justea detective Heidemarie Lorre. I am her…attendant. We came here to participate in the investigation. Let us in, please.”
On hearing the name Justea, the officer hurriedly bowed.
“Of course. …Wait, hold on a second. I thought I heard that Detective Lorre went missing over a year ago—”
“Oh no…Detective Lorre never went missing—Isn’t that right?”
The wheelchair-bound woman’s eyes flashed green.
“…That’s right. Please…pardon my error just now. Go on right through.”
The officer obediently moved aside.
.
“…We couldn’t find it, after all.” Gumillia shook her head regretfully.
Elluka was in the Abelard estate’s treasury with her.
It seemed that almost all the items in the treasury had been taken out. Not much time had passed yet since the police had arrived, so it probably wasn’t their doing. Julia herself must have carried off all the valuable items in advance before absconding.
All that was left behind was junk—The only thing that drew her eyes were the seven black pedestals arranged on a shelf. They each had names inscribed on them.
--“Venom Sword”, “Glass of Conchita”, “The Four Mirrors of Lucifenia”, “Clockworker’s Doll”, “Twin Swords of Levianta”, “Marlon Spoon”, and “Grim the End”—
“Looks like she planned to display the ‘Vessels of Deadly Sin’ that she’d gathered here,” Elluka said, sighing. “She must have had the sword, glass, and key with her—Would have been nice if she’d forgotten at least one…I guess that was too much to hope for.”
“What should we, do now?” Gumillia asked.
“We have no choice. We’ll do what we planned from the start. –Let’s go, to Merrigod Plateau.”
Elluka pulled out a letter.
A “Duel Invitation” written by Irina Clockworker—
She crushed it in her hands as tightly as she could.

I'm gonna argue that karchess deserves to be included in not only malewife but also manwhore for having an affair with the queen, and manipulate for tricking venomania (and to a lesser extent) elluka.
& that Carlos probably fits into mother issues based on the fact that his entire family thinks he's useless bc of his disability, sure we only really see his father but the mother issues are definitely implied.
also Kai is NOT a malewife he doesn't deserve that title...
Edit: also kaidor blankenheim gets in the manipulate and murder sections. Whether he also gets mother issues depends on if his mom was still alive when his entire family disowned him
Blue man classification

Part 1, Chapter 6-That’s Why I Told You to Escape; Scene 2
Fifth, Pierrot, pages 185-189
Once more a string of serial killings occurred in Rolled.
.
October 2nd.
Lower house congressman Elman Ordovan was murdered in Rolled’s 11th district.
He was the man who had pushed the most strongly for Julia’s resignation in parliament.
.
November 21st.
The body of Saintes Faraux Newspaper reporter Isidor Anguel was found in Rolled’s 2nd district.
He had knife wounds in his abdomen.
According to his colleagues, he was following up on the president’s scandal.
.
December 8th.
World Police investigator Jean Marcel went missing.
Two days later, on December 10th, a waterlogged corpse was found in the Orgo River. It was confirmed to be Jean.
He had been conducting an investigation into the cases of Elman and Isidor.
.
--Ayn’s thoughts whirled as he rested his eyes on the investigative documents before him in the inn.
He had once more returned to the city of Rolled. By all rights he should have come here much sooner.
As the case caused by “Fifth, Pierrot” was far from resolved.
.
Rin Chan had cooperated with the investigation, but had remained close-lipped on “Fifth, Pierrot”. She had told them that Pierrot had always worn his white makeup while she’d been in his clutches, and so she couldn’t really learn his face. Ayn didn’t know if that was true or not, but as long as she wasn’t a suspect he couldn’t afford to question her too harshly.
And the other person who knew the truth—Bruno, or rather Kaidor Blankenheim, had been killed before he could tell them everything.
The World Police was of the opinion that this too was the work of “Fifth, Pierrot”, but Ayn and Willus weren’t completely sure on that.
First, the modus operandi was different. “Fifth, Pierrot” generally committed his crimes away from prying eyes. But Kaidor’s killer had boldly slipped into a World Police facility of all places and killed him while evading surveillance.
Another difference was that the weapon used in Kaidor’s murder was not a knife. The wound was much wider than with the prostitutes, and his body had been completely stabbed through. It was likely a weapon with a longer blade than a knife.
Of course, as the circumstances of Kaidor’s case were different from that of the prostitute killings, it was possible that Pierrot had changed his methods.
Willus was currently pressing forward on that investigation.
Ayn had returned to Rolled in order to investigate into the serial killings that had once more begun in this city.
None of the current victims were prostitutes. A politician, a reporter, a policeman—The jobs were all different.
For that reason he couldn’t be completely sure that this string of murders was the work of “Fifth Pierrot”, but at the very least it was extremely likely that “Pere Noel” was involved.
Among the victims, both the politician and the reporter were people who had been dangerous to the president.
Taking only motive into consideration, one would arrive at the conclusion that it was either someone wishing to protect the president or the president herself that was carrying out these crimes.
However, the president had a strong alibi for each of the cases. At this point, she was under observation at all times. It would be very difficult for her to carry out the murders without anyone catching her.
Well then…What should I do first?
Rather than investigating into what had already transpired—perhaps it would be better to try and determine who the killer would target next. He had suspected that would lead him to some potential suspects.
All the people being targeted were either those that were a hindrance to the president, or those that were looking into the killer.
There were a fair bit of candidates there. It would be difficult to protect all of them, even if he called in reinforcements.
They couldn’t let there be any more victims.
Someone needed to catch the killer.
I need to think on this…What would be the best course of action.
But no good ideas came to mind.
--He decided to get some fresh air in the room. He opened the window and gazed at the scenery outside.
There were people lined up before a building he could see in the distance.
It was Milanais Theater. It seemed there was some sort of event going on there tonight.
Milanais Theater huh?
Ayn abruptly remembered something that had happened long ago.
.
Ayn had once had the bitter experience of letting a culprit get away.
It actually wasn’t that long ago; four years back. At the time Ayn was an officer newly hired on in Rolled.
There, he participated in an investigation to chase down a certain criminal. It was also the first time that he’d met Heidemarie.
The name of that criminal—was that of Pere Noel’s assassin, “Fifth, Pierrot”.
Naturally, it was a different person from the “Fifth, Pierrot” they were pursuing now. However, Ayn couldn’t help feeling like there was some connection between him and the existence of “Fifth, Pierrot” even so.
In that investigation four years before, Ayn had made a blunder. He’d caught sight of “Fifth, Pierrot”, and then allowed him to escape right under his nose.
This time…I’ll catch him for sure.
Ayn moved to close the window, having strengthened his resolve.
Just then, something came shooting his way with a great deal of force.
“Wha!?”
Thinking that a bird might be racing towards the window, Ayn hurriedly moved away.
It entered the room and then struck the wall.
“What’s this…?”
Ayn timidly approached the item stuck into the wall.
It was a small clump of lead. When he pulled it out, the lead cracked open and something fell from inside.
He scooped it up. It was a piece of paper, curled up into a cylinder.
When he opened it, this was written inside:
.
To Ayn,
Wait tomorrow at 2AM in front of the Abelard estate in the first district.
Heidemarie.

Part 1, Chapter 5-We Have a Traitor; Scene 3
Fifth, Pierrot, pages 167-168
Bruno Marlon—Kaidor Blankenheim was then incarcerated.
.
He had originally been a noble of Elphegort. If things had gone as planned, he would have inherited the seat of marquis from his father and become the ruler of Toragay.
His wife’s infidelity drove his life off the rails. A deeply jealous man, he was unable to forgive just one affair. In the end, he went mad with rage and killed her.
This fact was discovered immediately, and he fled Toragay.
Leaving behind his newborn son.
The baby was adopted by his younger brother, Karl. He was given the name of “Kaspar”, and came to be raised as Karl’s son.
Kaidor grew exhausted with his long life on the lam. Why must a former noble like himself lead such a miserable life? He sought a way to change his lot.
One day he met a woman going by the name of “First, Santa Claus”. She told him she had an underling who possessed the power to change his face. Changing his face—What better way to start his life over again?
Kaidor asked her to tell him this underling’s location. But for that he needed to offer something in return. Santa Claus was searching for certain items. “Vessels of Deadly Sin”—Kaidor knew the location of one of them. In exchange for telling her, he obtained information on “Seventh, Magician”.
Kaidor said this to Santa Claus:
“The ‘Golden Key’ is passed down in the Blankenheim family. My son probably has it now. If you want it, steal it from him.”
A lone man arrived in Lucifenia. Bruno Marlon…a member of the top brass of the Freezis Foundation. He was about the same age as Kaidor.
Kaidor secretly murdered the man, and then cut his head off.
He packed Bruno’s head into a bag, and then went to visit a fortuneteller who operated as “Seventh, Magician”. Through the magician’s ability he was able to successfully change his face to look identical to Bruno’s.
It was hard taking Bruno’s place. Everyone around him was bewildered at first at Bruno’s sudden change in personality. Even so, as time passed he was somehow able to convince them that he was Bruno.
More time went by, and he learned that his son he had parted with from birth had become Santa Claus’ underling, “Second, Dealer”. It was likely that she had made him into an ally to obtain the “Golden Key” from him.
His son had served his purpose--Kaspar would probably be disposed of eventually. But that wasn’t something for him to know any more.
Because he was no longer “Kaidor Blankenheim”, but “Bruno Marlon”--
