If you’re into reincarnation AUs, historical dramas, and kagakuro (and more!) then do definitely check out “transient shadow, true light” by seafoamist over on ao3.

Every time there’s a new chapter, I get the strong urge to draw the characters as they are in the AU since the author is so detailed and descriptive. So I asked them for permission + they provided me with some super detailed notes! They were super thorough and as detailed as always.

Clothing (and story concept) is based off of the Korean drama Scarlet Heart Ryeo, so if their outfits look more Korean than they do Japanese, that’s why!

I tried to give them semi-accurate hair to what the author provided, but in some cases I deviated a bit for the sake of character recognizability...I usually struggle trying to capture someone’s characteristics normally, so this was a fun challenge to do when some characters’ features are so different!
