back in the groove of things, vanessa feels more at ease during promotions than she does preparing for them. while there's a lot of work and expectations to be achieved the days leading up to it-- and just the same afterwards, she much prefers the reward of what comes with an album release.  it's the same as before, with the added notion of performing and being busy with schedules and spreading the k.arma agenda that vanessa is more than happy to spread around.

but now, it's lunch time, and she's hurrying to close her conversation with a stylist and move over to where all the food is pulled out. she’s mumbling food, food, food over and over as she stops near the rest of the girls. vanessa leans over, wrapping her arms loosely around the first girl she can touch -- joy, she notes as she peeks at her face to see, before her eyes are back on their chosen food. "ooh, what're we having?" she asks the younger curiously, carefully leaning her head against the other girl’s. she sniffs the air, making a long ooh~ leave her throat. “everything looks so good, i don’t think i even care at this point. it’s been so long since breakfast...”

hyuna can’t really believe the fact that sejeong went out of her way for this. it was more than just being nice in her opinion. the fact that the other girl dragged her out, to have a celebration date, for hyuna’s debut. yeah, she definitely teared up a bit. however, it was a really nice way to understand her situation. after so many years, she finally got to where she wanted, and she really couldn’t have asked for a better set of girls to debut with.

“hey, you took me out, let me at least pay.“ hyuna pouts as they wait for their meals to arrive. she could at least do so much for sejeong, but something tells her the other girl wouldn’t allow her to do that. “i can’t believe i actually made it.“ the rapper sighs, cupping her face in her hands and smiling widely at sejeong “can you believe i made it?“

coming off the high of multiple music show wins and a successful workshop this week, sohee was definitely feeling a lot better in time for the surprise dance workshop they were having. she has no doubts that people will come and learn with them. she just knows that she will be taking a back seat when it comes to the teaching.

“i don’t think i’m going to be much help,” she confesses as they’re setting up to begin the workshop. she wasn’t amongst the better known dancers. she also didn’t understand choreography to the point of teaching it. yes, she can eventually learn counts but how does she relay that to teaching others? the answer was that she couldn’t. “it’ll feel a little awkward here just standing, no?” she asks mona with a pout.

it was assumed that the dancers of k.arma would take the lead with the class. sohee gets comfortable with k.arma choreographies because they aren’t difficult. yet when it came to breaking it down step by step and relay it to others, she knows the words would escape her. she just doesn’t have the skill required to be a teacher in a subject that’s mostly foreign to her.

growing up as an only child, she doesn’t necessarily have that nurturing personality. joy thinks the side of her that is caring and can responsibly look after others just came when she started living with yeri all those years ago. before, she was this young girl who would cry when something wasn’t given to her. now, she has grown tenfold and she couldn’t be any prouder of herself.

when she found out that they will be appearing in return of superman, she was thrilled. she’s watched that show a lot, primarily to coo over the cutest little babies. she uses it as a means to boost her serotonin because who wouldn’t look at those kids and find some semblance of happiness? they were just simply too adorable not to be smitten with and just like the majority of the people in their country, they have her wrapped around their little hands.

she was a bouncing ball of nerves and excitement as they walk through the halls of the company. they were told that the hammington’s were filming at the cafeteria and that they were meant to just stumble along, making the interaction appear very natural. as the girls came bounding down the elevators, there seems to be a permanent smile fixed on her lips. as soon as they see the older boy, william, joy can’t help but to approach him quickly.

“william, william, hello!” her words were a little more high pitched as she bends down to get closer to the little boy. when she sees that he’s asking for something, she moves behind him, ready to help. “what do you need?” she asks and when he answers, she’s quick on the uptake as she lifts him up to pick up the seaweed being offered by the lady behind the counter. “thank you!” she says, bouncing the adorable toddler in her arms. as she puts him down, she moves to let the other girls have their chance with him and together, they all walk towards the dining area.

from there, it was a flurry of greetings and small talk. “i’m a big fan of your boys.” she says one time, making sure that their dad knows how much she adores their segment on the show. afterwards, came more fairly pleasant conversation. before the recording ends, she makes sure to be able to carry bentley. as she tenderly caresses his head and bounces him in her arms, there’s an enamoured smile splayed across her lips.

the recording came and finished quickly. as she gets a final kiss from william, the girls of k.arma wave their goodbye. it may have been one of their quickest television guesting yet, but it’s definitely one of her favourites.

It’s time for K.ARMA to come back to you.

To promote their next release, the members of K.ARMA will all go for the recording of different variety shows. On May 6th, the members will take part in the filming of ‘Knowing Brothers’ inspired by Episode 87 which can be seen here. This episode will air on May 22nd. On May 16th, Mona and Yeeun will go together to a recording of ‘Hello Counselor’ as based on this episode. The episode will air on May 25th. Also on May 16th, the five other members will meet with the ‘Return of Superman’ crew on the TRC cafeteria, as based on this episode. This episode will air on May 24th.

Their comeback showcase will start at 7PM. A specially prepared video will play on the big screen highlighting different parts of their music video with ‘What Is Love?’ as the background music before the members walk onto the stage to perform their title track ‘Dolls’. The MC Kim Youngmin will appear once they’re done to thank the public for coming. The members will answer questions about their comeback preparations and new album as any other major activities that happened during their hiatus such as drama participations. They’ll then perform ‘Figaro’ followed by ‘Ladies’, from their previous album. The MC will then ask more personal and variety questions and their goals for the future. They’ll finish it off with a performance of ‘Living Person’ followed by ‘Ticket’ to finish it off.

During the first week of promotions, K.ARMA will use ‘Figaro’ as their sibling song and will perform it alongside the title track. For any day that you do not have to perform or have any other schedules, you may have a break at the dorms unless said otherwise.

Music show promotions will last for a total of four weeks this time. Programs will begin pre-recording early in the morning and groups are expected to stay at the broadcasting station until the live broadcast takes place later in the day. Although music shows in real life follow varied recording schedules, for IC writing purposes, the schedule for every music show will follow this consistent pattern:

06:20AM: at broadcasting station: basic first rehearsal on stage; no makeup, casual clothes.

06:45AM: head to salon: get makeup and hair done.

07:45AM: return to broadcasting station: eat breakfast, nap in dressing room/space.

09:00AM: dress rehearsal on stage; stage outfits, makeup on.

09:20AM: return to dressing room/space: rest, eat, nap.

11:00AM: final camera rehearsal on stage; stage outfits, makeup on.

11:15AM: greet senior artist groups at their respective dressing room/spaces, accompanied by a manager. you may not sleep during this time, up until the live broadcast.

07:00PM: live broadcast; when not performing, must stay in dressing room/space until the ending stage of the show.

08:00PM: line up in waiting room area to formally greet producers, director, and senior staff.

09:00PM: meeting time with fans who attended the recordings.

10:00PM: return to dressing rooms to clean up, change back into casual clothes.

11:00PM: arrive back at dorms.

On applicable Fridays, members leave the KBS building for recording Arirang Simply K-Pop which airs 1PM ~ 2PM.

On May 14th, all the members will go to Cultwo Show where they’ll answer questions as well as sing their own songs. On May 16th, they’ll all go to Idol Radio. On this day, Kil will act as a fill-in MC along with a senior during the entire duration of the radio show. On May 18th, Chojin, Sejeong, and Doyeon will go together to Kiss The Radio. They won't be the only guests of the day.

On May 10th, Sejeong will be notified by their manager that a new opportunity has arrived. After a crew appreciated her work on ‘Love Poten’, she’s been given the chance to audition for an upcoming drama titled ‘Entertainer’. She’s told to prepare a scene of her like that’s shorter than two minutes until May 24th when she’ll go to a location in Gangnamdo for her audition. She’s to avoid sharing the news with anyone outside of her group members as it could damage her chances as well as the drama itself. The results will be given on a later date as other people will be auditioning for the same role.

The entire will group will get to attend a baseball game on May 19th and perform both ‘Dolls’ and ‘Ticket’ for the public present. Mona will have the honor of throwing the first pitch.

On May 7th, the group will go for a recording of ‘MV Commentary’ for the S-POP Channel. On May 25th, they’ll record ‘After Mom Is Asleep’. 

On May 29th, they’ll hold a surprise performance and teaching moment on the Speak Up! Event.

You will gain +5 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH, +3 DEBUT POINTS and +2 ACHIEVEMENTS for completing the written requirements explained on the idol tier page. As this is a song promotion month, one of your chosen achievements must be relevant to the above schedule and all required content should be written about activities listed on the above schedule for the month of May. There is a capped maximum of five solos, sets of starters and/or partnered threads you may write to collect this month’s points.

To clarify, the only form that needs to be submitted at the end of the month is a verification form for your debut points and achievements. Any SP points earned can be collected as soon as you finish the requirement for them. At the end of the month, as you did with your previous evaluation forms, you will submit the following form to the Points Verification blog:

vanessa isn't that into sports, nor is she good at them. in school, she was much more interested in going with friends and enjoying it during the moment. she doesn't ever pay attention to any of the rules, and she's never understood the almost fandom like craze behind people that were into sports. she respects it, sure, but she doesn't really get it.

at least with baseball, she kinda knows something about it. it's relatively easy for her to research and find more about it, and it's well liked enough that people talk about it. even sejeong was a fan of it, which makes it more fun to enjoy the schedule when it comes to her. a small little concert for the game, and she got to throw the first pitch. that's pretty cool, despite how bad she's sure it looked.

they're in the car on the way back, and vanessa is quick to snag the seat next to sejeong in the car. she's humming a tune under her breath, leaning back against the seat as she grabs for her bag. tugging it on her lap, she shoots a grin at sejeong, nudging her lightly with her shoulder. "did you have fun?" she hums teasingly. her hand fiddles with the zipper on the bag, wondering when she can pull out her spoil for the other. "you'll have to teach me the rules next time. i tried following along, but i think i still got lost." she snorts, chuckling sheepishly.

promotions are going well. schedules feel jam-packed, and there's little time to do something else other than perform, rest and eat. it's tiring, in that nice sort of way-- where it leaves you feeling good after. it's how she feels now, as they're piling into the van to head back to the dorm after leaving the sbs broadcasting station. she's one of the last in the car, dragging her feet and yawning sleepily behind her hand. she's ready to pass out as soon as she hits her pillow. as she moves to go into the van, her eyes snap to the vacant seat next to sohee. letting out a happy noise, vanessa slides into the seat.

"sohee-yah," she greets, moving to immediately cuddle up next to the girl. vanessa lets out a hum, turning her head to look at the girl and shoot her a smile. "it's time to go home~ you know what that means?" she has her voice lowered into a cute whisper, loud and exaggerated and armed with a wide, cheeky grin.

she’s wide eyed and full of smiles as she watches her lecture room slowly fill up with people. most of them are unfamiliar faces and she’s nervous with anticipation as she hopes that her class will meet their expectations. this is the first time in her life where she had to do something like this. while she might be full of jitters, her energy is overflowing and she cannot wait to start dancing with the little team that she has.

as she goes through her notes a final time, she glances up from her sheet just in time to see the door swing open. the class is almost about the start and she’s not really expecting more people to arrive but as she checks to see who it is, she immediately breaks out into a big smile.

“yuzu! welcome to my class.” she welcomes the younger girl, closing the distance from where she stands to where yena is. seeing her there, seemingly healthy and happy, makes her realise just how long it has been since the last time she saw her. “thank you for choosing to join me. i’m really happy you’re here!” the idol gushes, enveloping the smaller girl in a tight hug. sure, the rest of her attendees did not exactly receive the same physical welcome but can’t she make an exception for a dear friend? “come find a spot. we’ll be starting in a bit.”

hello counselor recording with yeeun!! 

hello counselor is a show that vanessa enjoys. she's watched countless episodes-- done commentary under her breath at the things she's heard and the topics they've discussed. it's such an interesting and engaging show, and it's hard to stop watching once you've begun, it feels like.

appearing on it is surreal, and even though she briefly mourns the separation of schedules, she's happy she has at least yeeun here to do the schedule with together. it makes her feel less nervous, more grounded about the event, and she grows more and more lax as they settle in.

the staff are kind, polite and cordial. the explanation of the schedule and brief introduction of the topic is noted as they begin to setup and start-- and vanessa feels like she's on edge, holding her breath the moments before they begin to record. it's not her first solo schedule, but each time feels almost more important than the last. an image to uphold-- it''s a thought occurring in her mind every moment that passes. always work to be better than before.

the topic is...frustrating, to say the least. vanessa knows that if she were in the girl's shoes, this sort of thing would be incredibly annoying. while understanding of the need to keep a younger sibling safe and secure, she also understands that there are boundaries you just don't cross. especially with the girl at the age she is at-- a full grown adult.

she tries her best to look not so-- unimpressed, as the brother explains his reasoning, and his considerably strong stance on why he does it. but it's hard, difficult, when it only further sours her idea of it. she hadn't even begun to believe that people are like this, even though it's definitely more of an occurrence than she'd like to admit.

when it comes to the end, she feels a bit better at the clear disdain for the situation that most have-- to the point where the brother says he will attempt, and try to do better. vanessa doesn't really believe it, but she hopes that maybe the effect media has and getting this out there in public eye maybe will have an effect. though when it comes to her chan to speak up, outside of casual comments and questions towards the sister, she's quick to say.

"i think it's a concern." there's firmness in her tone, straight to the point and clear. "there are boundaries, even in families, not to be crossed, and i think you should respect your sister's wishes and take a step back."

it's a fun experience, overall, even if it leaves her feeling a bit frustrated and irritated towards the brother; she does hope that this helps him realize the discomfort he's caused his sister for the better, and that's what vanessa wishes will come from the result of the episode.

vanessa loves the feeling of performing.

she's ecstatic come their first promotion day. she's talkative, cheery and loud throughout the day. she feels as though she's slept a good ten hours and is ready to conquer the day-- like nothing is absolutely going to get her down. and it works, throughout the entire day she feels as though everythings gone swimmingly well. it bode well for the rest of their promotion period, and vanessa hopes the rest of their days will continue on like this.

she's quick to take the seat next to hyuna as they gear up to head back to the dorms after finally leaving the broadcasting station. vanessa sighs happily, leaning back against the seat as she stares at the ceiling tiredly. there's a small smile on her face, and she turns her head to look at the older. "how was it?" she asks, keeping her voice quiet and level for the others in the car. "today was a long day..."

radio hosting is something that she has grown to like since the first time they have tried it. there is something about being in a studio, sitting in front of a microphone, and with some headphones in her ears that sparks a happiness she did not know was possible. as someone who enjoys talking about herself and everything under the sun, it makes absolute sense that doing this gives her much enjoyment. there is nothing quite like being asked to chatter away and ask endless question all in the name of doing your job well.

this time, not only would she be a guest, she would also be a co-host. the opportunity was something straight out of her dreams. idol radio is a fairly well known radio show and she gets to have the privilege of hosting it. to prepare, she had watch countless episodes of the show; trying her best to get a feel of what happens there. she also practiced a lot in front of the mirror just to make sure that she speaks eloquently. joy did not want to disappoint anyone on her very first hosting gig.

the show starts with the girls performing dolls. it was different from all the other performances they’ve done, as this one is just them having to basically dance the song. the stage was smaller, there were no fancy costumes, no elaborate staging, and it felt more intimate. it was nice dancing like that and have no expectations to be absolutely perfect in every movement. 

once they were done, the girls went another way as she rushes towards her seat next to main host of the show. “hello everyone i’m today’s special dj, kil. nice to meet you.” she smiles into her introduction.

it was truly an honour to sit next to the host of the show. it was clear to her from the very start that he was skilled in what he does. the words just flow naturally from him and the interactions doesn’t feel forced. as soon as she was there, joy felt comfortable. this is their first time working together and she already feels at ease─something that isn’t always easily said for anyone they ever worked with.

the show ran its course, first, the members were introduced one by one. there were nice descriptions for each member and she reads them all with a smile on her lips. as they enter, some with more flair than the others, she reacts with “wow”, “pretty!”, and many other pleasant variations throughout. they follow up with a group photo, then leader mona reading the oath. they continue with small small talk and a lot of congratulations for their past achievements as a group. they were also given the chance to greet and talk to their fans who were watching on the other side of the window. seeing them all from a much closer and a seemingly more relaxed stance makes her heart burst with fondness. they were all just so precious in her eyes.

then they talk about their mini-album. the recording process, how dolls was chosen as a title track, what the title song means, and they also talked about the other songs in the album. they were asked about favourite songs and favourite parts, and each time the members answered diligently. they did a dance medley but since they didn’t have a lot of songs yet, the portion was quite short. afterwards, there was more talk. the girls told interesting stories from practice to their life as roommates. they also performed figaro and sang one of the other b-sides.

soon enough, it was time to say their goodbyes. the hour long show has come to an end and she couldn’t have been any more sadder. she had truly enjoyed her time as a fill-in dj. as they say thank you to their fans, she expresses her gratitude for being invited to host the show. she holds on to the fact that perhaps she could have more opportunities like this in the future. with her fingers crossed, she hopes that she does.

rambling girls,

hello counselor's a type of show that vanessa enjoys watching, so when she's notified that both her and yeeun get to guest on it, she's in good spirits. their comeback month is already starting off wonderfully, and she's so ready to be back in the swing of things; ready to be out and about and taking the world by storm. they have so much to do, so many opportunties to get themselves out there. she feels like she’s on cloud nine. 

"yeeun~" she sing songs as she skips into the living room of the dorm, prancing over to the older with a large grin. "are you excited for tomorrow?" vanessa asks, rocking back on her heels. "i wonder if we'll have an interesting topic. i thought the one that joy did was fun to watch." crossing her arms loosely across her chest, vanessa's eyes roll up to the ceiling in thought, lips jut out in the effort of thinking. she shakes her head after a moment, her smile back in place with a laugh as she leans into yeeun's space.
