⭐️triple threat challenge attempt  performing very very very by i.o.i ( 00:00-00:36 // 01:33-02:56 ) april 21st, 2019

the irony of his preparation for the triple threat challenge is that he greatly neglect his school work despite attending an artistic one. he should be just as determined with sopa as he is to blow trc’s mind on the 21st, but the motivation just isn’t the same. he has the opportunity to be signed into k.arma’s company and that’s enough incentive to practice relentlessly until the last minute.

but his mother almost ruins the entire plan by insisting she drops him off to school for his “club activities” which he is indeed supposed to attend but has skipped the past two weeks without telling her. it’s for a good cause after all: if he becomes a trainee she won’t be able to say he’s wasting his time by nurturing his artistic talents. granted, he does waste his time in general but she doesn’t have to know that... she doesn’t get how it is to be a teenager and not wanting to have his nose buried in books all the time. if it were up to her he would be studying from the moment he wakes up right until he goes to sleep... instead he’s never studying at all.

he had a cool outfit prepared but can’t even bring it with him in case it triggers her son’s bullshit detector and she starts asking a million questions he won’t be able to answer to. jeongin can be a good liar if he puts himself to the task but can’t keep it up for very long when under suspicion. that’s how he ends up at the school’s front gate, in his uniform and in panic mode as he fears he won’t be able to make it to the event in time. thankfully his parents give him a pretty generous allowance that he ungratefully spends on things that would make them furious, like right now as he hops into a cab to yongsan district.

he makes in time to sign up, unable to stand still in the line. he looks around and sees talented-looking people, most of them much older than he is. it might mean they’re more experienced, more skilled too, but jeongin is full of determination and spirit. he’s doing it for his girls, for k.arma. will they watch this somehow?

it’s hard to tell how much time passes before his turn arrives. he’s visibly nervous but he doesn’t let it affect his contagious smile when he steps in the center of the stage and greets the crowd. “hello, i’m yang jeongin!” his smile does not falter and shows off his braces. he doesn’t even dare look into the judges eyes because if they’re not smiling back he might just get weak in the knees and run off. it’ll be easier once he gets into the mood of the song.

he chose it for one reason only: he absolutely loves it. it’s cute, upbeat, and has enough vocal, rap and dance components to fill in the requirements. it’s hard to know how people will react to a boy tackling a girl group song, as it’s often done in a comedic manner and if they do it seriously, it’ll also often involve changes to the melody or choreography to make it more ‘masculine’. but jeongin hasn’t made any changes at all. he likes it as it is and, quite frankly, thinks he’s killing it.

he had to cut some parts of the song but believes he did a good job overall keeping most of the good parts. it’s a bummer he has to include the rap, really. he doesn’t think he’d be worth anything as a rapper but listening to some of the others, he might just not be the worst after all. he’s listened to this song so much that it was easy to master it, plus it’s not extremely hard compared to verses he’s heard so far. he’s not foolish enough to choose something that’s above his capacities.

everyone recognizes the famous intro to very very very and jeongin is certain that in just a few seconds a lot of the audience will be singing along with him. he puts on his brightest smileas the chorus hits right after.

his cuteness overflows the stage as he hits the same movements he’s practiced in front of his computer screen so many times before. it’s a strange feeling to be performing out in the open like this. they’re not his schoolmates, or his family. they’re pure strangers who will help decide his fate, which makes the boy want to look at each and every one of them to capture their heart. instead he sets his sights on the ceo of triple crown. he might he known to keep his expression undecipherable to stay as neutral as possible, jeongin can’t conceive that he won’t even get a ghost of a smile. he’ll try his hardest, that’s for sure.

he tries his best to dis play the ‘swag’ that rappers have, as they call it, but doesn’t overdue it because it would look out of place in this song anyway. it’s not hip hop, not even close but it’s fun to try and act just a little cooler than he usually does.

he holds his ground until the bridge, where he dances less intensely to be able to belt out the higher notes. his stamina isn’t all that just yet but at least he’s been trying to do all three at once. it would be no use doing the dance on its own: he hopes his vocal skills will distract them from his flaws in other areas. bringing attention to one at a time would only bring attention to details he’d rather keep under wraps. he’s not an ace like some of the others, sadly.

to end the song he does the first half of the chorus one last time, but instead of just closing his fists to do the movement he makes finger hearts instead, and ends the song like that while looking at the judges.

A staff member leads you down TRC’s winding hallways to Tiger Jk’s office, then opens the door and leads you inside, where the CEO awaits, sitting at his desk. He looks up as you enter, lips quirking up in a smile. His desk is clear of any distractions, as if he’s been waiting just for you. Seated across from his desk, next to an empty chair, is a company lawyer whom you recognize from before; she’d been present when you signed your initial company contract. The staff member directs you to take the empty chair next to the lawyer and then leaves. You hear the door close and the latch click back into place.

He folds his hands on the desk in front of him, eyes settling on yours. “Did you think you would make it here?” he asks, a low laugh rumbling in his throat, though it’s unclear what exactly he means. What is clear is that the question is rhetorical, and he moves on quickly.  “I had a feeling,” he claims, and then shuffles a manila folder from its place on the edge of the desk to front and center, sitting in front of you. “I’m not one to beat around the bush. You worked hard during TRC/G, and after. You succeeded where others failed, and you know…I’m happy for you. I am.”

“You’ve worked hard after making the final lineup of K.ARMA too, and that was important, because there was still a lot to prove. The coaches were hard on you, weren’t they?” and he chuckles again. “It was for the best, because you’ve improved since then, and I can safely say you earned your place in this debut lineup. Soon, you’ll be debuting and starting the next generation of groups underneath TRC Entertainment. You have pretty big shoes to fill, so do your best.”

He opens the folder now to show another contract, this one with more weight than any of the others. “This is the final step: your debut contract with K.ARMA. Once you sign this, you’ll be a part of K.ARMA and TRC Entertainment for the next six years.” He pauses, letting you take that fact in, and his lips twitch into another smile.

“It’s a big commitment, I know, but you better not back out on me now. I’m personally asking you to be part of the nation’s best girl group, after all. The decision is still yours in the end, though. Just make the right one.”

“This is it, isn’t it?” Sejeong thought as she was led down the hallway towards the offices in TRC.  The instructors had warned them that they could be taken out of the group, even right up to the debut, if they so much as breathed the wrong way, it seemed.  She wasn’t sure what it was that she might have done to deserve it, but maybe it was her playful flirting with the other girls, maybe it had caught up to her and she had gotten into trouble. 

What she sees when the door opens makes her troubles go away and her lips break into a smile.  Tiger JK always would get that reaction from her. She thought her CEO really was the coolest and even if she was to be kicked out, she would trust him to do it in the most chill way as possible.

But luckily, it wasn’t that.  There was no time to respond to his questions, he sped along with his speech as though it was one of his own performances.  It was true, it was a hard road through TRC/G, some of the hardest times she had ever been through, if she were to be honest with herself, she was proud of how far she had come.  She wasn’t the same person that could barely dance that had shown up from an audition that she didn’t think she’d make it through. She was now on the precipice of becoming an idol and she couldn’t be happier.  To hear Tiger JK himself say that she had earned her spot in K.arma, it took all she had not to start crying openly, though a few rogue drops did trickle down her cheeks. 

“I’ll make sure that you don’t regret it,” she said firmly, giving him a grateful smile. She nods quickly as she’s handed the paper and without hesitation, signs it.  “I’m Sejeong of K.arma.  I’m here for the long haul.”

OOC NOTE: First of all, congratulations to arriving at the final step before debut! I know it’s been a long and crazy journey, and I’m so glad you’ve stuck through it. When you are ready, feel free to post this prompt with Sejeong’s response to it.

Should Sejeong choose to SIGN the K.ARMA contract, she will be employed by TRC Entertainment without a need to renew a contract until the duration of this one has concluded. As a reward for making it this far, she will receive THREE WEEKENDS unpaid vacation time to use any time in the next six months, so long as it doesn’t clash with any special debut activities (such as music show appearances, meaning she can’t actually use her vacation time until after her music show performances have finished.)

Should she choose to REJECT this contract with TRC and K.ARMA, she will leave the company, effective immediately upon rejection. She will be able to keep all of her debut points, but will not be able to take any trainee workshops or earn any more debut points/workshop points until she becomes a trainee again. She will not have any special advantage over newer characters when she auditions for other companies in the future, and should she become a trainee at a new company she will be considered a junior trainee all over again, even though she will still have her debut points and would be eligible for debut right away. She WILL have the right to audition for TRC again, but the fact that she gave up a contract renewal, especially a debut one, WILL be taken into account in final casting decisions.

She will have up to two weeks to make her decision IC, meaning that if she does not make a decision by May 14th, she will automatically be cut from the company.  Exceptions can be made for those on hiatus.

Tickets can only be obtained via an online lottery system. Fans can sign up for this opportunity using their fancafe username on TRC’s official website starting today until tomorrow, September 2nd, at 9pm. Selling these tickets is prohibited, and you must prove your identity at the entrance.

Worth It

It seemed slightly unreal, the month was flying right by, approaching the upcoming date of their debut.  First came their choreography performance of the song Dope for their special video for their awaiting fans to show off how far they had advanced in dancing. She knew she was still lacking in that ability, but she was trying her best to make sure she was still making progress.  She was a far cry from what she was when she began her TRC journey, heck, even from who she was when she had started the K.arma project. Seeing herself dance was an unreal thing, she never thought she’d be able to move the way she did now.

Before they knew it, they were preparing their music video for their debut, News.  Sejeong loved the song and hoped that the public would as well.  She had tried her best not to go online and check out any buzz on it, but she was glad to see there seemed to be some positivity about it, especially since Tiger JK was putting out his first girl group in a while.  She made absolutely sure to follow the rules though, and didn’t like any posts about them, which was a bit of a struggle.

It really sank in though, the day they began filming and at six AM, she was sitting in a chair, getting her hair and makeup done for the shoot.  Sure, they had done this for their photoshoot for the concept pictures, but it was different this time. This time, they were going to be filming the video that would truly introduce K.arma to Korea.  It was a lot to think about, she wondered where this was going to take them, how far they’d go. She was so thankful for everyone that had helped her get to where she was that day and she couldn’t wait to show everyone that it was worth it.
