amber thurman’s death is a direct result of georgia’s draconian abortion laws, and it’s absolutely enraging. she needed life-saving care, but because of the state’s restrictive abortion ban, doctors were too scared to act in time. this isn’t just an isolated tragedy – it’s a glimpse into the horrifying reality these laws create. they don’t protect life, they endanger it. amber was left to suffer because politicians are more interested in controlling bodies than in providing real healthcare.

what’s even more devastating is that amber’s child is now left without a mother because of this cruel and unnecessary law. a child lost their mom, not because of a medical complication, but because the system failed her. this is the heartbreaking human cost of these laws.

this is what happens when lawmakers prioritize ideology over human life. how many more people need to die before we recognize that these laws are not just unjust, they are lethal? we can’t stay silent while people like amber are sacrificed. it’s time to demand change and fight back against these oppressive laws.

Finally saw “Birds of Prey” 💛🌈🔥

Pros:

Harley looks gorgeous in her refreshing new outfit. I can tell Male Gaze when I see it, and there’s none here.

Black Mask and Zsasz, OMG! Like, I’m pretty sure they’re a couple?!?! I get crazy gay vibes from them 😏

This whole movie is 100% girl gang approved. Gan-gan-gang!

All of the WoC actresses bring their absolute A-Game. The scenes of Cassandra Cain killing people, cussing and making fart noises directly into the camera blew me away.

Ewan McGregor is an astounding presence as Black Mask. In a brilliant show of method acting, whenever the character blurts out a misogynistic slur, he will look directly into the camera and say “Hashtag MeToo, Hashtag JusticeForAmber, Hashtag OscarsSoWhite, Hashtag PewdiepieIsCanceled”.

Cons:

The film opens with a somewhat hard to watch montage of Harley performing more and more egregious crimes, set to “Diamonds” by Megan Thee Stallion.

These range from Harley horizontally parking her Harleymobile into two disabled parking spaces at once, replacing the photos on missing children’s posters with photocopies of her butt with various Instagram filters applied, to traveling back in time to chisel the iceberg that sunk that titanic into a boob and filling the liferafts with helium.

Due to a projector error, the Chinese cut of the film was played instead of the version for American Audiences, as demonstrated by the Mandarin subtitles and how all scenes that would elude to sexual attraction between two women were replaced with montages of small animals meeting for the first time and becoming friends.

Despite this change, I was happy to be one of the first 100 people to lay eyes on this version of the movie.

At one point, each and every single member of the audience left their seats in unison, and walked into the showing of “Sonic The Hedgehog 2020”, including myself.

Despite sneaking into the second showing, we frantically threw dollar bills at the screen in elation at the chance to see a much better movie.

the thing that gets me is that 70% of the evidence team amber flinging around has a totally reasonable explanation if he was also an upstanding sort of dude who never assaulted any of his partners was genuinely trying to get justice after an ex ruined his life/career, 25% of it is gross stuff that he talked about to other people but never actually threatened her with, and the last 5% would be damning if AH had stuck with a story that was consistent and made sense and not slaughtered her own credibility, but with context all i'm hearing is "dude trying to keep his pride because ~a real man couldn't possibly be a victim of domestic abuse~" and "his lawyers wanted to win"

....she gave him a knife as a present and didn't give a shit about it. i honestly don't know how i'm supposed to take the 'really horribly violent' accusations seriously.
