JOMP Book Photo Challenge - December - 02/12/24 - Currently Reading
I wasn't able to take part in the last November prompts as I've been spending a lot of quality time with family and friends. I have to admit, though, that I've really missed preparing those little posts. They've become a delightful habit in my daily routine, and I always looked forward to creating one or two posts after my work shift. I'm so grateful to have discovered just0nemorepage's blog as well as being able to see all the amazing posts from other book lovers participating in this challenge.
The book I am currently reading is The Cloisters by Katy Hays. To be honest, I initially bought this book merely because the book cover is absolutely gorgeous, but the novel itself has been an intriguing read so far. Set against the backdrop of New York City, The Cloisters follows a young scholar named Ann Stilwell. After a bumpy start, she lands a job at The Cloisters, a secluded museum housed in a gothic building in Upper Manhattan. At first, Ann’s position seems like a dream come true, as she is given the chance to assist with a major project focused on the study of divination, Tarot cards and their connection to mythology and the occult.
Without giving away much of the story, the eerie atmosphere and elements of psychological suspense and mystery instantly allude to dark secrets that Ann will uncover eventually - dark secrets about the museum and its staff, as the world of the Cloisters - where ancient texts and modern minds intersect - is not entirely what it seems. The book draws on themes of obsession, deception, and the blurred lines between academic pursuit and dangerous intrigue.
After finishing the story, it is even possible to dive a little bit further into the novel's themes and motifs by pondering a bit about the prepared discussion questions. My edition includes not only discussion questions, but an interview with the author and a detailed guide on how to read Tarot cards as well.

I was tagged by @e-b-reads to choose 5 favourite books and let me just say I have far too many to limit to only 5. So, I'm adding a new rule just for myself! 5 favourite books in science fiction. Have at ye!
Okie dokie, have fun choosing which is your favorite/you've read of these! Enjoy! And I honestly might do another later with another genre!
Tagging @aridotdash @just0nemorepage and @bookklempt if you haven't done this already. As always with this, no pressure and if you were tagged and want to participate, then please do so! Cause these are fun!

Disabled Artist needs housing help
Hey. I'm an enby person with several chronic illnesses. I work from home to support 3 people on my own. I usually (note: usually) barely make it to rent, but this month everything has seemed to come down at once and I'm going to be approx. $900 short. [Edit: As of 10/25 I will be $655 short] I can probably make up a 1-2 hundred of that in a few days, but it's not going to be enough.
This is especially terrifying because moving is highly traumatic to my partner. We've been evicted twice in the past 3 years (once for financial reasons, and the last was a shitty discriminatory management company) - and I don't think we'd make it through another, and I'm not even being hyperbolic. And paying late AT ALL means shitty companies won't renew our lease. I am seriously terrified. Not being able to have these few hundred will be literally life-destroying. I already live every day expecting a flare-up to put me in the hospital again, because that's what stress does to me, every time.
Can anyone help us out with mutual aid? Earlier today I donated $5 to an artist who has helped me, with the hope it can come back around. Anything is helpful. I'd even do a peer-to-peer loan if that's a thing.
Payment links:
Paypal | Venmo : Piichann | Shop: one two | Ko-fi
!! Please signal boost !!
I am just so tired of us all being forced to destroy our bodies, destroy our lives, just to live. And still not be able to pay for basic housing and food. I really want people to unite around mutual aid. Support each other. (And anyone is more than welcome to add their needs to this post) People shouldn't need to wade through paperwork and Telegram scammers to get help.
Society just doesn't need to be like this, and we should be able to change it. I think if everyone tried to, we really could. Unite together. I don't exactly know how we get there, but we should all be sick of this. I know I am. And I will, and do, give back when I can.

Thanks for the tag @horrorgirlreads and @cre8iveovadose !
Rules: shuffle your ’on repeat’ playlist and post the first ten tracks, then tag ten people 🎶
Wolves Without Teeth by Of Monsters and Men
Metal United by Majestica
begin again by Purity Ring
Heaven Is A Place On Earth by Belinda Carlisle
Daylight by David Kushner
Cha Cha Cha by Käärijä (which I am totally normal about, don’t check my main 💚)
Hope For The Future by Bastille
labour by Paris Paloma
Will I Find My Home by Juniper Vale and Vian Izak
Get Louis Theroux It by Tom Cardy
I find it interesting how there’s actually only one Eurovision song on this even though like half of this year’s Eurovision songs are still on that on repeat playlist. Anyway I think this is a nice overview of the kind of variety that I listen to.
And pretending I don’t know how to count to ten, I tag @petrareads @just0nemorepage @nooksofbooks @alittlebibliophiledragon @letthebookbegin @thebookwormslair (because even though I don’t really know you, you recommended me Jemsin’s Broken Earth trilogy which I ended up picking up) @agardenandlibrary @sometimesreading

if y'all are looking for other ways to meet more booklrs, check out @just0nemorepage Saturday shout out! Jen's been asking for new submissions to that for two or three weeks now, she posts everything that she gets, and it's a great way to get your blog out there, especially if you post reviews or pictures or stuff like that
and also just interact with people's posts. gush over books they've read or have just started. reblog recommendations and reviews. all the friends I've made on booklr have started as just people steadily keeping in touch with what i post, it can be as simple as that ^.^
Calling all unknown booklrs!
So I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve been seeing that it’s really hard to make friends in the booklr community. Of course all the well known booklr members are extremely nice, but it’s kind of hard to make friends. So I’m calling for all lesser known blogs. Let’s all be friends. Let’s follow each other, and talk about books.

JOMP Book Photo Challenge / November / 1 / tbr this month
It's my first time participating in just0nemorepage's book photo challenge, and I am absolutely looking forward to a month filled with new and exciting books, cozy autumn weather and hot cocoa.
My tbr this month consists of four books, one for each week.
The first November week begins with a re-read of Dorothy L. Sayers "Whose Body" - a classic novel of the golden age of crime fiction. "In The Lives of Puppets" and "Honey Witch" are an absolute must for rainy autumn weather, and "Blue Sisters" was recommended by a friend of mine.

Just One More Page's March Book Photo Challenge
Tumblr media
March 1, 2023 - TBR This Month
I saw this pop up on my feed and I'm trying to find smaller ways to participate more in the booklr community. And I knew that I had a lot of books that I had acquired recently, and these are only part of what's on my to-be-read list, but ones that I figured I could read this month. Or, at least, make an attempt at reading. We'll see how far I actually get.
First on my TBR is The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. I have read this book before, but this time around it's for the Traveling Book Project being put in by @just0nemorepage and I'm excited for it!
The rest of the list is Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata, Poison for Breakfast by Lemony Snicket, The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi, A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers, The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah, Qualityland by Marc-Uwe Kling, Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley, and Book of Night by Holly Black.
What's your TBR for this month? Do you plan one? Or just get what feels like you'll most read at the moment? I usually do what I feel like I'll read, but I do have a rough idea of books I would like to read.
