the first time that they had met, james and sirius, had been in their first year. back then, they didn't know each other like that. sirius had short hair and james' glasses still were intact and they were just james potter and sirius black. not james and sirius, not prongs and padfoot.

they sat down next to each other and laughed and james hated how sirius wasn't meant to be his friend, and sirius hated how they weren't supposed to spend their hogwarts years together, because of a name, the name of black, keeping chains wrapped around them, tying them to the ground.

but it didn't happen, and they had been two boys, with red and gold around their neck and with mischief in their eyes and they swore, they swore they are up to no good.

then two other boys appeared, peter and remus, wormtail and moony, but nothing changed between sirius and james. nothing, ever, could replace james for sirius or sirius for james, because it was them against the world, two boys with plans and big hearts; they were invincible.

they had been more than brothers. they were one, james and sirius, and there wasn't exactly anything that showed where james ended and where sirius began, because to them, and to most around them, they were so similar, it was difficult to tell them apart.

james was the first person that showed sirius love. he taught sirius what love was, with every small gesture and every night they spent together, talking about everything and nothing and love and family and the future, and he taught sirius how to love, with every little hug and with acceptance and with patience, because how else could he? and how could he ever leave sirius unloved? james promised himself that, one night, he'd help sirius love right.

they had always been there to clean each other's messes up, to help each other, anchors through the storm to which the other clung desperately, to be brought to the shore, to be safe, in the end. it always happened like that, they were safe with each other.

"never saw one without the other, did you?" they were attached at the hip, they always joked about it. how they were so close, in all ways. they were brothers, of course they were; and they always would be. they had been each other's first kiss, but they still liked to deny that, because, fo them, it never happened, or so, they said. they had smoked their first cigarette together, and sirius laughed as james coughed. they shared everything, and soon, sirius would be james' brother forever.

they were a force of nature, james and sirius, the sun and the stars, until the sky would fall.

ok im going to be honest. i dont get tip discourse like yea it’s a bit insane that many places tipping options start at 20% but just choose ‘leave custom tip’ or dont tip at all it’s not legitimately illegal to forgo a tip. and if you feel bad not tipping then go some place where you can afford a tip that you feel comfortable leaving. like there’s so many options and you are not required by law to do this so why do ppl complain abt it so much like complaining abt grocery prices makes sense i cant set my own price for bread and you can get arrested for stealing but nobody’s coming to lock you up if you leave a 5% tip on a seven dollar latte. complain abt the latte being seven dollars all you want but ppl always follow the complaint up with ‘and then tipping options are sooo high’, you didnt have to continue that thought theyre not exactly related
