dad!rafe cameron x mom!reader ₊✩ˎˊ˗ summary: your eldest daughter, Ellie, gets into a fight at school. warnings: mention of slight injury
ïž”â€żïž”â€żàšâ™Ąà§â€żïž”â€żïž”
You checked the time on the kitchen clock, looking over your shoulder and making sure that you were on schedule. You needed to leave to pick up your two kids from school by 3:25 to avoid traffic. You wanted to go shopping before picking them up because your oldest, Ellie, needed some new winter clothes. No one told you that picking up your kids would need this much planning, even after your husband insisted on sending them to a prestigious private school.
Speaking of your husband, at 1:15 he pulled into the garage. You rolled your eyes, only half annoyed.
“Hi, baby.” He said with a smile, walking into the house with his dress clothes, straight from work.
“Late lunch?” You asked as he came up to you, holding your hips and pulling you closer to him.
“Just left early.” He said, grinning and kissing you gently.
“Rafe..” You said, kissing him back.
Your husband, Rafe Cameron, was the CEO of Cameron Enterprises, so he was pretty lenient with his duties. The surprise visits had gotten more common after he hired a new assistant, which freed him up time to be with his wife and two girls.
His body towered over you as he kissed your neck and down to your shoulder, his hands moving to grab your ass.
“So perfect..” He mumbled the compliment, burying his head in the crook of your neck.
“Baby.. I gotta get to the shops. Ellie needs a new coat.” You said, pulling away and looking up at him with a sad smile.
“I’ll go with you.” He announced, setting his briefcase and coat down on the kitchen island before walking to the door.
You giggled, grabbing your purse and the keys to your white Porsche SUV. Rafe waited for you at the door, smiling and holding it open for you as you walked out. He gave you a look as you got into the driver's seat, hesitantly sliding into the passenger’s seat beside you. You rolled your eyes playfully and started the car, driving off.
About 15 minutes later, you turned into a small outlet mall. Putting the car into park, the two of you got out. He started to walk to the more designer stores and you rolled your eyes.
“Rafe, she’s 11. The last thing she needs is designer.” You said with a giggle, pulling his arm to an Urban Outfitters. Rafe looked at you, a confused frown on his face as he stuffed his hands into his pockets. After picking out a nice coat to keep her warm enough, the two of you started to walk back to the car. You looked around, seeing a small cafe and looking at Rafe with doe eyes. He looked at you expectantly, smiling at your face.
“Rafe can we-“ You started, interrupted by Rafe intertwining his fingers with yours.
“Of course, m’lady.” He said, smiling and kissing the top of your head as the two of you walked.
Your phone rang from your purse and you stopped, confused. Your personal phone doesn’t normally ring unless it was Rafe or your girls and your face knitted with concern as you rummaged for it. After pulling it out, you saw that it was the school. You frowned, looking back at Rafe’s equally confused expression.
“One second..” You mumbled, picking it up.
Your eyes shot up when the administrator requested your presence at the school office.
“Why? What happened?” You asked and Rafe leaned down, trying to hear as much of the conversation that he could through your phone.
“Ellie had an.. incident with a boy in her grade.” The woman on the phone said cautiously.
“Is she okay? What happened?” You repeated, worry and anxiety growing in your chest for your eldest daughter.
“Mrs. Cameron, Ellie got into a physical altercation with another boy in her class.” Rafe looked at you with an equal, but more subtle, amount of worry.
“I’ll be right there, thank you.” You said quietly, hanging up the phone.
“What? What happened?” Rafe asked and you turned around, heading away from the cafe and back to the car with him close on your heels.
“Ellie got into a fight, they want us there.” You said, your breathing picking up.
Rafe held your hand, trying to sooth your incoming panic. He was still a bit confused, but he took the keys from you and opened the passenger side door, insisting that he would drive the two of you back.
“What did they say?” He asked, his eyes flicking back from you to the road every so often.
“She got into a ‘physical altercation with a boy in her grade.’” You said, quoting it directly with a lightly mocking tone.
Rafe’s face was still serious, but his facade was cracking with his concern for Ellie.
The two of you pulled up to the school about an hour before the final bell would ring. Rafe walked in first, storming into the office, preparing to demand answers. His face dropped when he saw his precious girl with a bloody nose and blossoming black eye. Your gaze followed his and you gasped, beating him to Ellie.
“Baby what happened?” You asked, touching her eye gently as she winced.
“Who did this, Ellie?” Rafe’s booming voice asked from behind you, his expression deep with anger.
You watched your daughter’s eyes glare across the room. You turned, seeing a young boy with an ice pack to his head, his condition significantly worse than hers. You looked at her, eyes wide. Rafe sprung up, demanding answers right as the woman you spoke to on the phone came out of the principal’s office.
“Right this way, Mr. and Mrs. Cameron.” She said, showing you to the principal’s office. You left a quick kiss on Ellie’s cheek before walking behind Rafe and entering the small room.
“Thank you for coming, Mr. and Mrs. Cameron.” The principal said, his face pale at the sight of your husband’s outrage.
“What the fuck happened?” Rafe asked, nearly yelling. You put a warning hand on his knee, silently telling him to take it down a notch. Naturally, he eyed you with a quiet ‘no.’
“According to the witnesses, Ellie started a fight with a young boy in her class during lunch.” The principal said with a sigh, shuffling a few pages of paperwork to the top of a stack.
“That can’t be the full story.” You said, leaning forward, as if to urge him on.
“That’s the part that I need to look at. Unfortunately, there are some severe consequences for this-“ You rolled your eyes, listening to him talk before Rafe got up suddenly, leaving the office.
You started to hesitantly stand up after him, sitting back down and trying to stay calm. You watched the door as it opened again, Rafe walking back in with Ellie’s hand in his.
“Let’s hear the full story.” Rafe said, gesturing for Ellie to sit in the seat that he was in previously as he resumed a stance at the door of the closed office.
You looked at your daughter, putting a gentle hand on her leg as you waited for her to start explaining. Her gaze met the principal’s, staring him down.
“Gabe said that my mom was a gold digger and that she doesn’t really love my dad.” Ellie said, her little voice raising as she continued, “And I told him to shut up and he said ‘do something about it.’ So I did.” She finished with her arms crossed.
God, she had so much of Rafe’s attitude that it almost made you wince.
You were astonished, your mouth wide. Rafe was quiet at the door and you didn’t make eye contact with him, not wanting to see how this would turn out.
“What?” You asked her, looking at Ellie and then the principal, “Did she tell you this?”
“I did!” Ellie interrupted and you gave her a knowing look and she slumped back into her chair.
You heard Rafe moving closer to the desk and you looked up at him as he stood behind you. His face was red with anger as he looked at the principal.
“What consequences will you have for him, huh?” He asked, his stance intimidating as the principal collected himself while Rafe kept going, “My kid got beat up too, what’s going to happen about that?” He said, pointing to the blood drying on Ellie’s nose.
Ellie nodded, her little arms still crossed. Rafe shifted so he was between you and your daughter. The three of you looked at the principal expectantly.
“From what we know as of right now, Gabe was simply defending himself-“ “Bullshit!” Ellie interrupted and you looked at her, warning her to be more careful. Of course, Rafe nodded along with her.
“We will review the classroom footage and determine an appropriate punishment.” The principal stated, eager to get this over with. Rafe scoffed, rolling his eyes.
“I will give you a call. Thank you.” He said and Rafe helped you up and out of your chair.
His arm protectively wrapped around Ellie and the three of you walked out without another word. When you passed through the office, you could see both Rafe and Ellie staring daggers into the little boy, still holding an ice pack to his head. Rafe’s protective hold on Ellie didn’t let up until he opened the door for her to get into the car, opening yours as well. He got into the driver's seat and you sat quietly, knowing one of them would say something soon.
Without a word, Rafe turned and looked back at your daughter who was fidgeting nervously. He smiled slightly, holding his hand up for a high-five. You rolled your eyes playfully, watching as her face lit up and she high-fived him without hesitation.
“Rafe!” You said, trying to stifle your smile.
“What?” He said, putting his hands up in surrender. He put the car in drive as Ellie smiled to herself.
“Ellie, you shouldn’t get into fights at school. Especially not over dumb things like that.” You said, trying to sound serious and stern.
“Mom, that's not fair!” Ellie said, looking at you with pleading eyes.
“Your mom’s right, Ellie.” Rafe said, knowing you desperately needed backup. You listened expectantly, waiting for him to continue, but he didn’t. He offered you a shrug and kept driving the way back to the house.
You got out, watching as Rafe opened Ellie’s door and picked her up, grabbing her backpack. You smiled, walking ahead of them.
“Just like your dad.” You heard Rafe say quietly to Ellie, hearing another high-five between the two of them.
You rolled your eyes, giggling at Ellie’s prideful smile.
“Go get changed, love.” You told her as Rafe sat her down.
She went upstairs to her room and you looked at Rafe, watching him try incredibly hard to stop himself from smiling.
“She’s too much like you.” You said with a huff, trying to play off your smile once he breaks and starts laughing.
“Looks like we’re raising them right.” Rafe said, kissing you softly. You rolled your eyes as you felt him smile into the kiss.
“I love you.” You said, your fingers tracing his cheekbone.
“I know.” He said, kissing you again and then pulling away with another breath, “I love you too, pretty lady.”

Icarus Part 21
Hey guys!! The story is starting ramp up to the finish line! I hope you guys are still enjoying it as much I enjoyed writing it.
In this we have Steve taking back his agency, Eddie and Jeff having a little chat and Abbadon leaning on his friends.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16 Part 17 Part 18 Part 19 Part 20
~
As soon as Abbadon grabbed the mic, the audience knew they were going to be in for a ride.
“Las Vegas!” he roared to the crowd, who roared back. “There seems to be some confusion about how naughty I got with Eddie Munson in Denver.”
The crowd went wild, screaming and jumping up and down.
“I never do anything without prior consent,” he grinned. “I’m a gentleman, until you tell me you want it otherwise.” He winked and the crowd screamed back. “I’m not saying I’m coming for Asmodeus’s job,” Abbadon said, draping himself over his guitarist’s shoulders, “but I’m no innocent. I don’t need protection.” He walked across the stage to Astraeus. “I’ve always been affectionate. But I think it’s time to be put the rumors to bed.”
“Oooooohhhhhh!” Asmodeus and Astraeus shouted and got the crowd to say it with them. Once they were loud enough, Azrael started rapidly tapping his drums to further build up tension.
Just when Abbadon was sure the tension couldn’t stretch much further he said, “I’m not a slut. I’m the slut!” The throng of people roared back. “And I’m not going to hide who I am to make myself palpable to people I’ve never met or no longer have any connection to me. I am Abbadon! I AM THE FALLEN!”
Waiting in the wings was Jeff and Eddie. They had gathered to watch Steve do this in person instead of watching it live in the green room.
Jeff cocked his head to the side and clicked his tongue. “Whatever else you think of Abbadon and the rest of the band, you have to admit the man has charisma.”
Eddie pressed his lips together and nodded. He was proud of Steve. Of course he was, but it did sting a little that it took Shane to get him to talk about it. Not him, Not Robin. Hell, not even Simon, whom Eddie thought was unhealthily close to Steve. Shane. Of all the band members, Shane had the least in common with Steve. Spence had the EMT thing, Simon, the upper class upbringing. Other than them liking metal, they couldn’t be further apart then if God planned it that way.
Shane came from a middle class liberal family with an older sister he was close with. Hell, he even still talked to his parents while Steve definitely did not. He was a giant nerd who loved history and myths. Steve struggled in school and only made it out alive because he was on three sports teams and captains of two of them. Shane even slept around to Steve’s search for ‘the one.’ Which Eddie really, really hoped was him.
But maybe that was it. Maybe the reason Shane could get through to Steve was because they didn’t have much in common. Maybe their connection were their differences. That they were friends in spite of the gap between them.
Eddie almost wanted to get Steve into therapy like Gareth was. Because even though it always seemed to him that Gareth was one drink away from destruction these days, the therapy did appear to be working.
Steve could really use something like that.
They watched the set a little bit longer.
“Are you sure you’re okay with Abbadon flirting with Gareth?” Jeff asked.
Eddie blinked for a moment wondering where the comment was coming from. Because, sure, Gareth had talked non-stop about Abbadon being his favorite member, even going as far as to tattoo Abbadon’s mask on his left bicep. But Gareth didn’t seem interested in Abbadon as a person.
And it wasn’t like Steve was really interested in him that way before or after becoming a rockstar.
“Gareth and Abbadon both say it’s fine,” he murmured after a moment or two. “And I trust Abbadon.”
Jeff hummed thoughtfully. “Yeah okay. So this time it’s not going to be the duet?”
“No, I don’t want a repeat of last time. Abbadon is going to be taking the lead vocals on ‘Might as Well Fly’, I think he’ll lend a haunting quality to it.”
Jeff pursed his lips. Steve definitely had the pipes for it, but it wasn’t the song out of their discography that he would have chosen for Abbadon to shred.
Eddie huffed beside him and crossed his arms in front of him. “Let me guess, you have other ideas?”
“Can Abbadon play guitar?” Jeff asked rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
Eddie shrugged. “I mean, I guess. He’s like able to play piano, violin, and guitar. Can he play the song you’re thinking of is the real question.”
Jeff turned to him with a grin. “Oh, if I know our friend as well as I think I do, he knows it.”
Eddie frowned at him and cocked his head to the side. “Which one?”
Jeff told him and Eddie rubbed his lips, skeptical. It was a good song. Harder than ‘Might as Well Fly’ and faster too. It had an extra guitar to it because it originally featured a famous guitarist. But it was also the lead guitar on that song.
“Do you really think he can do it?” he asked, licking his upper lip slowly.
Jeff scoffed, “Why? Do you think he can’t?” Eddie just shrugged. “Because holy hell, dude, I was talking to Asmodeus and he was telling me they formed their band over their love of our music. I’m betting if you asked Abbadon he could list his favorite albums alphabetically, chronologically, or which one is best musically. Even before you guys got together, before their band, before we even got a record deal, he’s been your number one fan. And he’s got the chops for it. You know he does.”
Eddie looked around to make sure no one had heard Jeff’s impassioned speech. He ducked his head. “Have Abbadon meet us before we go on to discuss the change while they setup our equipment.”
Jeff grinned and licked his lips. “You won’t regret this. And neither will they.” He jutted his chin out at the roaring crowd.
And yeah, Eddie knew he was being ridiculous about the song. He was trying to play this safe, but Steve didn’t need safe right now. He needed to take back his agency and Eddie knew that this song? It was fucking perfect for Steve. They would be able to feed off the roar of the crowd and give Steve a chance to really show them how good he is.
~
Steve loved the idea of the change in song. Don’t get him wrong, he loved ‘Might as Well Fly’. It just wasn’t the vibe he was trying to send today. Steve already was flying. Now he was raging at the people who were trying to clip his wings. And fuck them.
It meant that he couldn’t start on Gareth’s lap, but that was okay. This was going to be better. A hell of a lot better.
He pulled on his Corroded Coffin logo lined coat and swapped his mask for the lighter everyday one. He was going to need the extra movement for these vocals. He started in the middle again, this time in front of Corroded Coffin instead of between them.
“Hey, Las Vegas!” Eddie cried. “You bitches ready to rock?”
The crowd screamed back and Eddie laughed. “We’ve got a treat for you tonight!” The crowd screamed even louder. “We don’t usually play ‘Nightmare Killer’ because we don’t have that third guitarist.”
The audience went wild, screaming and whistling and stomping their feet in excitement.
“We asked Asmodeus,” Eddie continued. “But he’s too cool for us!” The crowd made teasing booing noises and oohhed. “But that’s okay, we found someone else willing to play.”
The room fell to a hush as Abbadon’s spotlight came on. There was some uneasy wrestling from the audience as he stood with his ear mic and white guitar. Something that eagle-eyed fans would know about Eddie and Jeff was that they didn’t own a white guitar. And all The Fallen fans knew that all of Asmodeus’s guitars were red and vaguely devil themed. This wasn’t his either. This was clearly Abbadon’s.
Abbadon began the opening riff and the crowd took a massive intake of breath as he sailed perfectly through the chunky bits of the original artist’s style. Then he began to sing, the haunting quality of his voice filling in the gaps of the silence that seemed to stretch on from the audience.
Eddie didn’t even bother trying to hold back the look of admiration on his face as he joined Abbadon for the chorus. Their vocals mixing beautifully to the backdrop of a hell beast looking for more from life than the violence it was weaned on.
Throughout the song the only sounds from the crowd were clapping in time to the beat. Eddie had never seen anything like at their concerts before. It was like there was this reverence for what was happening on stage.
Abbadon ate it up and played it up as he enticed the members of Corroded Coffin to him. Each of the members resisted. Then Abbadon handed his guitar off to a roadie and climbed the stairs to the platform that Gareth was on. He straddled Gareth’s lap and drumming cut out as his bandmates played on. From behind it looked like they were kissing, but with Abbadon’s mic off they were making fun of each other. Then suddenly he whirled on Gareth’s lap and hit the drums right on the last note with a crash.
Then in an instant the crowd thundered to life, cheering and stomping and clapping.
Abbadon blew Gareth a kiss and leapt off the platform to take his bows. The flutter of the coat revealing the Corroded Coffin logo again and the crowd screamed even louder. He blew kisses to the crowd and continued to bow. Eddie whistled loudly and Abbadon laughed.
Eddie grabbed the microphone. “Abbadon everyone! One very talented son of bitch! Another round of applause everyone!”
The crowd continued to go wild. Abbadon let out a whoop and jumped up and down, laughing. It was exhilarating, everyone just feeding the energy back to Abbadon and just feeling high off that. Eddie and Jeff shared a glance and Jeff winked. Eddie shook his head. Because yeah, Jeff won that bet.
Abbadon waved goodbye and walked off the stage. Once he was out of view of the audience Hopper swooped in and immediately threw a cool, damp towel over his head and Steve nearly sank to his knees in relief. Because try as they might, the hoods were still fucking hot. Hopper lead him to the dressing room where the rests of The Fallen were waiting.
As soon as the door closed tightly behind Abbadon, Steve pushed back the hood and ripped off the mask. His hair was wet and sweat clung to his face and neck. He let himself sink slowly into the soft cushions of the sofa and laid his head back.
A bottled water was being pushed into his hand and an ice pack was placed on his brow. He let out a small shuddering breath. He opened the water and dumped half of it on his face and the rest into his mouth.
“Thanks, guys,” Steve muttered, his eyes fluttering shut. “How did I look out there?”
Simon huffed a little a laugh. “Like fucking rock god.”
“I’m with Simon,” Spence said. “It won’t silence the naysayers but it’ll drown them out which is even better.”
Steve laughed. “Fuck that was so much fun. Gareth called me a queen. So I called him a bitch. I honestly don’t know if he likes Abbadon more now, or less!”
“Considering how little time you had to prepare,” Shane said, sprawled over an armchair instead of on the floor for a change, “I say you kicked ass. You’re going to get people saying you weren’t really playing but, they can suck your dick!”
Steve lifted his head, the ice pack sliding into his hand. “I hate doing this without you guys, though,” he admitted. “But as Shane pointed out, I’m already super affectionate with you already and short of French kissing Simon, they aren’t going to believe shit.”
“Nothing against you, Steve,” Simon said with a wince, “but I really don’t want your tongue down my throat.”
Shane raised his hand. “I volunteer! I volunteer!”
They all laughed. Then Robin as Celeste slipped in and sat next to Steve. She grabbed the ice pack and pressed it to the back of her neck. They all waited as she let her defenses slowly come down. She pulled off the wig and tossed it Spence who caught it deftly.
“Vickie has been working tirelessly tonight to keep an eye on social media,” Robin began, “she even has two of her assistants watching all the accounts, constantly refreshing.”
Steve turned on the couch to face her. “And what are they saying?”
Simon and Spence immediately moved over to her to sit on either side of her and Steve. Shane sprawled over the back like some Renaissance painting. He rustled her hair and she huffed out a laugh.
“You’re getting the trolls from both fans shit talking about how Abbadon is better than Corroded Coffin and should have turned them down like Asmodeus,” she continued, pausing only for Simon’s huff of laughter. “The Corroded Coffin fans were whining about how Abbadon’s vocals ruined the song and that he probably faking the guitar playing for the views.”
“I’d like to see them fake that bridge,” Steve scoffed. “It’s insane.”
Simon nodded. “I don’t think I could do it.” He snapped his fingers. “That’s what I’ll do. I’ll post a Tiktok of me trying to play it.”
“Wait!” Spence said. “Have Steve do it first, showing a close up of the hands dancing on the frets. Then you stitch it with your version. That should kick them in the ass.”
Steve and Simon fist bumped each other. “Hell yeah!”
“But the rest of the tweets and shit coming in is overwhelmingly positive,” Robin finished. “So that Tiktok should silence the Corroded Coffin fans.”
When Simon did his stitch of Steve’s video he made sure to admonish their fans about thinking who’s better than who. He was friends with the boys in CC and the being ‘too cool’ was a fucking joke.
Then Eddie did a stitch of both of their videos and showed them again how complicated the riff was for Abbadon to play by playing it himself. Abbadon and Asmodeus’s videos racked up a lot of views and shares, but Eddie’s really did the numbers. It blew up and completely overshadowed all the haters.
Steve made sure to thank Eddie for that later in the privacy of Eddie’s hotel room.

Note
I was wondering if there were any fics where after season 1 or 2 Derek becomes a teacher at BHHS, preferably Sterek but if not than that's fine!
Hi anon! Raiven made this list and says "I couldn't find any for specifically after s1/2, so heres some teacher!derek with a side of sterek!"
Tumblr media
Bad ideas (ans good results) by MysticRadio_Fivesososnotonfire (38/38 | 47,345 | Explicit | Sterek) Derek Hale is a 24 year old University professor in Beacon Hills and he’s always been a student favourite, well expect for one student. Stiles Stilinski, an snarky, arrogant and lazy 21 year old who must just be taking the classes for fun as he sure as hell ain’t passing them.
Teacher’s Pet by MemoriesArePain (30/30  | 43,496 | Explicit | Sterek) Stiles makes a profile on an app suggested by Scott after a year of not really dating post a break up from a mildly abusive relationship. After all, it's where Scott and Isaac met. What could go wrong? Stiles begins sexting a dominant guy on there, not realizing that it will turn out to be his law professor in a week when classes start. They both remain anonymous at first, and they continue on into the beginning of the school year. Things get complicated when they meet of course.
Derek makes a profile after his messy divorce, needs some fun and nothing complicated. Of course, it wouldn't stay that way. No matter how hard he tries he can't deny the feelings he's developing. He's screwed.
Know That Golden Rule by DerRumtreiber (9/15 | 38,636 | Explicit | Sterek) “So what, I’m just supposed to waltz back into their lives? And they’ll just accept me as their alpha again?”
“Yes!” Stiles practically shouts. “That’s exactly what you’re supposed to do. I mean, ideally, you never would have left in the first place—”
“You told me to leave.”
Stiles ignores him. “ —never would have left in the first place. But you did. And now you’re back, and you’re going to fix what you broke.”
~
Or, the one where Derek leaves for a year and comes back with a teaching degree and a job at Beacon Hills High School.
When History Met Science by JossWritesSometimes (11/11 | 31,339 | Teen | Sterek) Professor Derek Hale has been teaching History for three years, and has painstakingly kept his private life, private. He would not consider himself a lonely man (no matter what his sister says). Until a certain biology professor, Stiles Stilisnki, arrives at the university. From mistaking him for a student, to becoming friends, could Stiles be the person that makes Derek want to give love another chance?
When the Teacher Met the Agent by JossWritesSometimes (7/7 | 16,828 | Not Rated | Sterek) Derek Hale has been a teacher for almost five years in NYC, but this year he is back in Beacon Hills and has taken his first job as a Kindergarten teacher. However, unlike in NYC, he has multiple Supernatural students, which is something he was not expecting. Especially a certain Stiles Stilinski, who smells...weird. Who is this boy who runs with wolves, and why can't he get him out of his head?
Snippets from them meeting to maybe, possibly, falling in love.
This is what I went to school for by TalesoftheEnchantedForest (1/1 | 10,906 | Explicit | Sterek) Stiles is a music teacher who's advice to a struggling Eli leads to meeting the sexiest man on Earth, falling for one of his students' dad (literally), and then dating the Spanish teacher at their school. Who are all the same guy, actually.
Stiles is set on making this relationship as romcom-worthy as possible. They just have to work on their communication first.
The New Teacher by TwistedAmusement13 & everchanginginnks (1/1 | 9,562 | Mature | Sterek) Derek, a world-weary English teacher pushing 40, is roped into a wet night out by his best friends. He finds himself charmed by a flirty college student who introduces himself as Stiles. They share an incredible night, but Stiles leaves before Derek wakes up. Thinking that he'll never see Stiles again, Derek bitterly gets ready for work at Beacon Hills High School. He's in for a bit of shock when he's introduced to the newly hired science teacher...
Trick or Treat, Mr. Hale? By literaryoblivion (1/1 | 5,247 | Explicit | Sterek) The tardy bell sounds, ringing loudly, and Derek stands from his desk.
“Alright, settle down,” he says, raising his voice to make sure his students that are still laughing and talking will hear him. “We’re picking up where we left off yesterday, page 138, the Civil War. Now, who can tell me what battle--”
The classroom door swings open, and all the eyes in the class snap to the movement. Derek tries not to react when he sees who it is, tries to make sure his face is a mix of sternness and disappointment when his infamously tardy troublemaker of a student waltzes in with a smirk.
“Stiles,” he says in a sigh.
the shape of my heart by Winchesterek (1/1 | 4,807 | Mature | Sterek) Stiles never thought he'd meet someone like Derek. Someone that was in a similar situation as he was - raising kids that weren't biologically his. It was even wilder because Derek was his god daughters first grade teacher and she was best friends with Derek's niece and nephew.
And Derek was hot. So hot that Stiles couldn't help ogling him every time they spent any amount of time around each other, including play dates and lunch in the school cafeteria with their kids. So Derek asking him out for Valentine's Day? That was just icing on the cake. Plus, Stiles was already head over heels for him.

57 Reasons
TW: Meanspo
01. You will be FAT if you eat today, just put it off one more day.
02. You don't NEED food.
03. Fat people can't fit everywhere.
04. Guys will be able to pick you up without struggling.
05. You'll be able to run faster without all that extra weight holding you back.
06. People will remember you as "the beautiful thin one".
07. If someone has to describe you, they'll say "oh she weighs like 90, 100 lbs".
08. Guys will want to get to know you, not laugh at you and walk away.
09. Starving is an example of excellent willpower.
10. You will be able to see your beautiful, beautiful bones.
11. Bones are clean and pure. Fat is dirty and hangs on your bones like a parasite.
12. If you eat then you'll look like those disgusting, fat, ghetto and trailer-trash hookers on Jerry Springer.
13. The models that everyone claims are beautiful, the spitting image of perfection, are any of them fat? NO!
14. Too many people in the world are obese.
15. People who eat are selfish and unrealistic.

17. Anyone can have "inner beauty" but few can earn real beauty, inside as well as out.
18. You'll be able to move as quietly and skillfully as a spider.
19. Only thin people are graceful.
20. If you slap a fat person you can see a shockwave ripple over their skin. That's disgusting.
21. Do you want people to say "for gods sake get off me you're crushing me!!!" or "you are sooo light" ???
22. Underweight aka perfect body.
23. Ballerina? or beanbag?
24. I want to be light enough so a helium balloon could lift me and carry me to the clouds.

26. Starve off the parts you don't need. They're ugly and they drag you down.
27. Nothing cant be fixed with hunger and weight loss.
28. Saying "no thanks" to food is saying "yes please" to THIN!!!
29. Fat people are so huge, yet people look away from them as if they don't exist.
30. The only time people do notice a fat person is when they get in the way of that beautiful thin girl walking by (ok that sounds really horrible i know.)
31. Have you ever seen a person NOT notice a walking skeleton.
32. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.
33. Is food more important that happiness in life? I think not!
34. Eating is conforming to everyone else's expectations.
35. When you start to get dizzy and weak you're almost there.

37. Food is mean and sneaky. It tricks you into eating it and it works on you from the inside out making you fat, bloated, ugly and unhappy.
38. Think of anorexia as your secret weapon.
39. If you can name one reason to be fat, I'll name a million and one to be thin.
40. Thin people look good in ANY kind of clothes.
41. Food rots your teeth.
42. Puffy cheeks, double chins and thick ankles-- aren't attractive.
43. Fatty areas stretch and sag as you get older.
44. Ever seen the arms of a fat person wave hello or goodbye?
45. Eating little to nothing saves you money!

When a chance encounter brings you back into contact with Shimura Tenko, you'll do anything to make sure you don't lose him again. Keep his secrets? Sure. Aid the League of Villains? Of course. Sacrifice everything? You would - but as the battle between the League of Villains and hero society unfolds, it becomes clear that everything is far more than you or anyone else imagined it would be. (cross-posted to Ao3)

Chapter 15
Your experiences with the cops have been mixed, but right now, the cops are so relieved that someone’s found Eri that they don’t ask you too many questions. They run your name through the database, of course, but when they come up with no prior arrests and the fact that you’re quirkless, you can actually see them write you off as a suspect. Sometimes your uselessness works to your advantage. You’re planning to make a clean getaway, but Eri wakes up as you’re trying to put her down and starts to cry. You try to remember who she said she wanted earlier. “Can you bring, um, Deku? She said something about him.”
Deku is a bizarre name for a hero. You wonder what Midoriya Izuku was smoking when he picked it out. “Let me see,” the officer on duty says. She smiles at Eri, who squeezes her eyes shut and hugs the plush corgi even closer to her chest. “I’ll make a call. You might have to wait with her.”
“That’s okay,” you say. You’re sort of interested to meet Midoriya Izuku. Tenko hates him, and you want to know what Tenko’s up against. “I don’t mind.”
It’s not a long wait. Maybe forty-five minutes. Forty-five minutes of Eri tossing and turning restlessly in your arms, waking briefly and falling asleep again, sometimes crying whether she’s awake or asleep, before two heroes come barreling into the police station. You know the first one is Midoriya, but you’ve seen the second one before, too – Eraserhead, Class 1-A’s homeroom teacher. The one who was defending his psychopath student on national TV.
Anger flares up inside you, and you fight to tamp it down. You can’t look defensive or hostile. You need to look harmless and quirkless and maybe a little stupid, so you’ll register as such a nonevent that the idea of you being involved with the League of Villains will never cross their minds. Midoriya reaches you first, out of breath and a little panicked. “Eri! Are you okay!”
She stirs slightly, and while Midoriya’s trying to figure out how to yank her out of your arms while still asking nicely, Eraserhead arrives. He activates his quirk at once, although you’re not sure who he’s trying to use it on. “Why is she unconscious?”
“She’s sick,” you say. “She was like that when I found her.”
“Why didn’t you bring her to the hospital? That would have been the logical choice.”
“You’re supposed to bring lost kids to the police, aren’t you?” You let your face fall slightly. “I just wanted to do the right thing. I wasn’t sure.”
“You brought Eri back. That’s the most important thing.” Midoriya’s focused on her. “Where did you find her?”
“I was walking home from the grocery store and I heard something in an alley. I thought it was a cat, but I went to look and it was her.” You’re a better liar than Tenko is. You know how many details to add, when to be nonspecific. “Do you know how she got there?”
“We don’t comment on active –”
“The League of Villains took her,” Midoriya says, cutting Eraserhead off. “We rescued her from Overhaul – it was on the news – but they took her before we could take her to the hospital. They must have decided to give her back.”
“They dumped her,” Eraserhead corrects sharply. “Giving her back would entail taking her to a police station or a hospital.”
“But they couldn’t go there without getting arrested,” Midoriya says. He holds out his arms, and you pass Eri in her blanket bundle to him. He looks at you over her head. “Did she say anything about them?”
“No,” you say. An idea pops into your head and you run with it – something to push back on the story Eraserhead is telling himself, something to make Midoriya think he’s right. Something to confuse them both, to make sure that the story Tenko was afraid they’d tell isn’t the one that survives. “She had the blanket when I found her. And the toy.”
“Oh,” Midoriya says. Eraserhead doesn’t say a word. He doesn’t look happy. “She seems like she really likes it.”
Even in her sleep, she has it crushed to her chest. You keep playing dumb. “Can she keep it?”
“Of course,” Midoriya says at once. “Right, sensei – er, Eraserhead?”
“If nothing is wrong with it, and she wouldn’t prefer a toy not given to her by a villain, yes.”
So she will get to keep it. It’s just an ordinary toy. You’ve made the handoff to the heroes, and now you can go. But would the slightly brain-dead civilian you’re playing just go? You get to your feet, but hesitate. “Is she going to be okay?”
“Yes,” Eraserhead says. “She’ll be in good hands. Much better hands than she’s been in over the past twenty-four hours.”
You start nodding, ignoring the surge of frustration at the comparison between Tenko and Overhaul, and turn to leave. Eraserhead’s hand comes down on your shoulder as you’re walking away and scares the hell out of you. “What’s your name?”
“The police have it.” Wrong answer. If you had nothing to hide, you’d just have said your name a second time. You start babbling to cover up the error. “They looked me up and everything. Did you know they keep addresses? Like all the addresses I’ve ever lived at. It’s so weird!”
“Did you see anything?” Eraserhead asks. You shake your head. “Was anyone in the alley with her?”
You shake your head. “I only saw her. I wouldn’t have known she was there if she hadn’t made a sound.”
“She’s lucky you went to investigate,” Eraserhead says. The weird look you give him isn’t even slightly faked. “Most people wouldn’t.”
“Oh,” you say. “I – um – I’m glad I looked, too. It was – nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too,” Midoriya says. He’s awkwardly rocking Eri. “Sensei, should we call an ambulance?”
“That would be best.”
They’re not paying attention to you anymore. You leave, feeling like you’ve dodged a bullet or ten.
The League is in a celebratory mood when you get back. Defeating Overhaul and cementing Tomura’s status as the next leader of the criminal underworld is a big deal, and you’re happy, too – but at the same time, you’re stuck on the fact that life as you know it is ending. If the Hassaikai could find you, other people could, too, and you’re still quirkless. Defenseless. It’s not safe for you to be here on your own. And Ryuhei was right. As the team’s medic, you have to actually be with the team to do any good. It’s right that you should leave. It was going to happen eventually. And you still feel like you’re losing something you can’t replace.
Because you are. After this, you won’t be a civilian anymore. Even if you’re not committing serious crimes yourself, the semblance of a normal life you’ve been maintaining will die away. You’ll be like your cousin Manami for real. Except that compared to what you’re mixed up in, Manami’s strictly small-time.
“I’m gonna miss this place,” Spinner remarks, sprawling out with his feet up on your couch. It takes way too much effort not to cry.
You head back to your room to pack long before everyone else starts to settle down. What are you supposed to bring with you when you go on the run? Your costume, obviously. Medical supplies, obviously, which you’ll restock from the soon-to-be-set-up supply caches when you need to. Changes of clothes, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush? You try to figure it out based on what the League’s been asking you to buy for them, and it already feels like you’ve got too much stuff in the backpack you’re bringing with you. And that’s not even counting the evidence.
There’s not much left of Shimura Tenko. You’re pretty sure you have all of it, and there’s not room for it in your backpack, even with the plush corgi finding a new home, and you can’t leave it here for whoever searches your apartment once you’ve gone missing. The smart thing would be to get rid of it. Crumple up the valentine, shred the photos, throw the album away, flush the locket down the toilet and forget about it all. But you don’t want to do that. You don’t want Shimura Tenko to exist only in your memory. If something happens to you, it’ll be like he never existed at all.
You fold the valentine carefully, slide it into an empty sleeve of the photo album. You bury the album at the bottom of the backpack. The locket lands on the nightstand, to put on later. That just leaves you with the journal. You haven’t read through it at all yet, and even though you’re pretty sure you’ll be flushing the pages down the toilet, you decide that you should read a few of them first.
It takes only a few seconds for you to wish you hadn’t. The journal starts when you’re seven, and all the feelings you hadn’t learned to hide yet are scrawled on the page. Anger, confusion, sadness, loneliness, hurt, guilt. So much guilt. You didn’t remember how hard your younger self had tried to find Tenko, how much trouble you’d gotten into for sneaking out to look for him. You didn’t remember how insane everyone made you feel – not just for believing that he was still alive, but for remembering him at all. It’s obvious in the weight of your pen against the paper, the heaviness of the strokes, the size of the characters. HE WAS REAL. HE WAS HERE.
As the pages turn and you grow older, your handwriting gets better, until the day you found out your parents were planning to wipe your memory, at which point you go insane for real. Given what a mess your handwriting was and how blurry and water-stained the paper is, you’re surprised you managed to pull it together long enough to hide the journal and everything else away.
You’ve always thought your parents were wrong to do what they did. You still think that. But when you read through the journal as an adult, you can catch the faintest glimpse of why they went that far. If you had a kid and they were doing this, you’d be worried. You wouldn’t know what to do. And if it was really you, you grown up for real with a kid you’ll never have, you’d be terrified, because you know where this leads. It leads to throwing away a decent life, a normal life, and following your best friend off the edge of the world.
There are a lot of pages in the journal. You have to flush them down the toilet in handfuls, and you’re so focused on getting rid of them that you don’t realize how weird it is to flush the toilet eight times in a row. Someone clears their throat and you look up to find Dabi and Toga watching you. “What are you doing?” Dabi asks.
“Disposing evidence.” You yank the last set of pages out of reach and flush them, too. “Get out of my room.”
Dabi leaves. Toga stays, poking through your bathroom cabinet. “Can I have this?” she asks, lifting up your meager makeup collection. You nod. “What about this?”
Perfume you never use. “If you want to carry it, it’s yours,” you say, and Toga grins. “Actually, if you help me pack, you can have whatever’s left in my closet. That you’re willing to carry.”
“You’re the best! I needed some new things.” Toga hugs you, then turns to your dresser and closet, all business. “Bring all your underwear. Like, all of it. We can’t do laundry very much and I don’t feel as gross when I can switch mine out.”
That’s reasonable. “Don’t bring anything with short sleeves or anything sleeveless. Warm stuff only. It’s getting really cold at night,” she continues. She starts taking things out of your dresser and putting them on the bed. You can’t tell if she’s picking them for herself or for you. “Find a way to wear your hair that won’t get messed up too easy. We won’t get to wash it very often, either.”
Your hair’s going to be hidden by the veil, but that’s still smart. Toga has more suggestions – clothes with sturdy fabric, bras that aren’t uncomfortable to sleep in – before she gets serious. “Period stuff. I made Mister shrink a whole bunch of it, but it sucks to have to ask him to un-compress it.”
“That was really smart, though. It makes stuff a lot easier to carry.”
“We should have him compress most of the supplies,” Toga says, her eyes brightening. “That way we can carry more!”
She runs off to tell Tomura and the others, and you go back to reorganizing your backpack to fit Toga’s must-haves in it. She comes back a few minutes later, all business once more. “If you have jewelry, bring it so we can sell it if we need money,” she says. “And just to have. It’s nice to look pretty sometimes.”
“I’ll take your word for it.”
She throws a sock at you. “Being mean to yourself isn’t cute. Tomura-kun likes you how you are. Overhaul was really gross and even he liked you.”
“He didn’t like me. He just knew he could use me to get to Tomura.” You feel guilty when you think about it. You could have derailed Tomura’s plans so easily, just by being weak, being unable to fight for yourself. You need to fix that. “I wasn’t saying I’m ugly. I’m just saying I don’t think about that a lot. Anyway – jewelry?”
Toga nods, and you start digging your jewelry out of its various hiding spots. Rather than investing in a jewelry box with a lock that Compress could pick in two seconds, you scattered your small collection around your room, figuring Compress would give up the hunt rather than risk Tomura’s wrath. It must have worked, because everything is right where you left it, and none of it’s been replaced by one of Twice’s copies. You’re hoping Toga will let the subject drop, but she doesn’t. Not quite. “How did you make Tomura-kun fall in love with you?”
“That’s a strong word,” you say, thankful you’ve got your back to her right now. Neither you nor Tomura has said the L word. In your case, it’s not because you don’t feel it. You don’t know why you’ve held back on saying it out loud. “I didn’t make him. We just spent time together and it happened.”
“That won’t work for me.” Toga’s frowning. “I like Ochako – and Izuku – and Tsu. But they won’t spend time with me because they’re heroes.”
Your inclination is to tell Toga to find a more realistic crush, but you’re also not an asshole. “You’ve seen Ochako and Izuku at least twice, right?” you ask, and she nods. “When you see them next, try to make a strong impression, I guess. Since you don’t get to spend time with them very much, you have to make it count.”
“Something romantic,” Toga says, and you nod. “When I do that, can I have these earrings? Green looks good with my eyes.”
“Sure.”
“And what about this? Can I –” Toga breaks off, gasps. You turn to find her standing by the nightstand, your locket open in her hand. “Who’s this? Is this –”
You see it in her eyes when she realizes. She claps a hand over her mouth, which is good. Now you don’t have to do it for her. “You can’t tell the others,” you say, keeping your voice low. “Please don’t.”
“I won’t if you tell me everything.” Toga looks shocked and gleeful at the same time. It’s a weirdly intimidating expression. “Otherwise I have to talk to people so they can help me guess. I won’t need to if there’s nothing to guess about.”
You don’t want to tell anyone, but you want out of this conversation, and you don’t want it to leave this room. You sit down on the end of the bed, well clear of the stuff you’re trying to pack, and Toga plops down next to you cross-legged. “I knew him when we were kids,” you start. “We lived across the street from each other. We were best friends until – um –”
“He used to be normal?” Toga looks amazed. “What happened?”
“His quirk awakened. It –” You trail off. You’re not sure how to describe the carnage in what was left of Tenko’s house. It’s not your story to tell. “He disappeared after that. It was fifteen years before I saw him again.”
“How did you know it was him? He looks so different now than he does in the picture.”
“The scratching. He did that as a kid, too. And he remembered me, sort of.” You remember the way he froze when you said his name, how fast he ran from you. You’ve never asked him why he ran away. “There isn’t really that much to tell. That’s it.”
“Childhood sweethearts. That’s so romantic!” Toga beams. You’re not sure you want to call it that when the two of you were only five – but there’s a photo of the two of you swapping valentines right before you kissed him, so you can’t really argue. “He loves you so much. I can always smell when people are in love. He’d do anything for you.”
No, he wouldn’t. You’re pretty sure there’s one thing Tomura wouldn’t do for anyone. You search Toga’s face, looking for any hint that she’s planning to double-cross you. “I held up my end of things. You can’t tell anyone.”
“Why not? I bet they’d think it’s cute.”
“It’s not safe for many people to know,” you say. You think of how Tomura reacted when you told him Kurogiri had brought you to All For One, how relieved he was that you hadn’t revealed yourself. Even with All For One locked up in Tartarus, you don’t want that information getting out. “My friends Yoshimi and Mitsuko and Ryuhei know, and my other friend Kazuo. And now you.”
“Because we’re friends.” Toga hugs you from the side. “I’m so glad you’re finally coming with us! Jin is the best big brother ever, but I can’t talk to him about things like I can talk to another girl.”
“If we’re friends, we have to keep each other’s secrets,” you say. “Even if the others would think it’s cute. You have to promise not to tell.”
“Fine. I won’t tell.” Toga heaves a sigh. She snaps the locket closed and hands it back to you. “I should get one of these. I want pictures of Ochako and the others!”
“Maybe you can steal one,” you say, wondering if this counts as helping the League commit a crime. You’ve stayed out of Kazuo’s searches this long, but you don’t think you’ll be able to much longer. “And it’s not like pictures of them are hard to find. I’ll help if you get one.”
She hugs you again, and the two of you go back to packing. You fasten the locket around your neck instead of putting it on the nightstand. Now that multiple members of the League feel fine coming into your room without asking, it’s not safe to leave it lying around.
Toga’s tired by the time you’re done packing, and so is everyone else. When she leaves, you can hear them all settling down for the night in the living room, bemoaning the fact that this is the last time they’ll have a soft bed for a while. You, meanwhile, need to make sure your absence goes unnoticed for as long as possible. Tenko comes in while you’re composing an email to your supervisors, telling them that you need to take a leave of absence from work for the sake of your mental health. It would be a good idea even if you didn’t need to go on the run.
Tenko shuts the door, sits down behind you on the bed, and wraps himself around you. “What are you doing?”
“Covering my tracks. My family won’t notice for months, but work will notice I’m missing unless I give them a reason not to look.” You scan the email one last time and send it, then shut the lid of your laptop. “I should probably leave this here, right?”
“Maybe not. It would be good to have it,” Tenko says. He notches his chin over your shoulder. “If your job thinks you’re on leave, then it won’t look weird that you’re still connecting to the internet. You can probably bring your phone and keep in contact with the others, too.”
“Okay.” You slide your laptop and charger into your backpack. “But I still have to go.”
“Yeah. It’s not safe,” Tenko says. “The heroes might not have captured all of Overhaul’s minions, and he could have left instructions for them. And they won’t be the last enemies we make. I need you to be safe, and the only way I can make sure is if you’re with me.”
It’s quiet for a second. “Do you not want to come with me?”
“I do,” you say. “It’s just – I don’t know. The way I’ve been helping is the way I’m most useful to you. I can’t fight. I don’t have a quirk. I can find a weapon somewhere and I can do the medic thing, but –”
“Don’t say you’re useless.”
You weren’t going to, but it’s what you’re thinking, and Tenko knows you too well. He hugs you a little closer. “What else?”
The question leaves your mouth before you can think it through all the way. “I want to know where this ends.”
“Overhaul really got inside your head, huh?”
“It’s not about him,” you say. You’ve opened this can of worms. You might as well dump it out. “When we were kids, it didn’t matter that we never won. There was always another day. We could start over as many times as we needed to, and try as many things as we could think of until something worked. But this isn’t like that. When people get hurt, it sticks. When they die, they die, and we can’t get them back.”
You think of Hirono and Sho. Of Magne, who’s not dead but who’s locked up with no way for you and the others to rescue her. “I don’t want us to keep fighting forever. I want us to win fast, before we lose anyone else. And I don’t know what winning looks like.”
“When all of this is destroyed,” Tenko says, like it’s obvious. “There’s no piece of it that isn’t built on lies. Even your job, the stuff you do – it wouldn’t have to happen if the heroes and the idiots who worship them didn’t keep throwing people away. It can’t be fixed from the inside, so we have to tear it down. I have to. It’s what I’m here for.”
You want to argue, but you won’t win. You know you won’t. “And what about after it’s gone?”
“I don’t know,” Tenko says. “But you do.”
You can’t manage anything more than a stunned silence. “I know it needs to be destroyed,” Tenko continues. “Anybody who’s not lying to themselves can see that. But I haven’t lived in it. Not like you and the others have. So when there’s nothing left, you can decide what to put in its place.”
He tucks his head in against the side of your neck. You can feel his eyelashes flutter against your skin. “You were always better at telling the stories than me, anyway. They were never any good on the days you stayed home.”
“Don’t you have any ideas?” you ask faintly. “About what it should be like? It’ll be your world too.”
“You wanted to know where it ends. That’s where,” Tenko says. “We win when we tear everything down. When it’s all gone, you and the others get to choose what happens next. It should be mostly you. Maybe Spinner, too, if you need help with anything.”
“What about you?” Foreboding creeps over you, making your skin crawl. “Where are you going to be, Tenko? When this is all over?”
“When it’s all over there won’t be a point to me anymore.”
“No.” You twist in Tenko’s arms, putting the two of you face to face. He avoids your gaze, which is how you know you’re right, how you know that you picked up the real meaning in what he said. “That’s not how this works. It’s not winning unless you’re with me afterwards.”
“Don’t worry about it. Are you with me or not?” He’s stubborn. You’re stubborn, too. More stubborn than he is – but he’s still talking. “It was nice to think about while we were here. What it would have been like to be normal. But that won’t happen. Not even after we’re done with all this, so there’s no point –”
“Who said I wanted normal?” You cut him off. “I’m your sidekick. That means I’m with you no matter what. So if you want me to get through this and build a new world, you’d better be planning to come with me. Because if you’re not, I’m staying right here with you.”
Are you making some kind of suicide pact? You don’t think so. You think you’re just trying to get it through Tenko’s head that the two of you are in this together, no matter where it goes or how far it goes. He’ll destroy this world that’s hurt him, that’s hurt the League, that’s hurt you and so many others – and then you’ll build a new one, one where everyone has at least a shot at being happy. Everyone. Including him.
Tenko still won’t look at you. You cup his face in your hands, run your thumb across the scar on his lip, and his gaze drifts back to you. “Are you coming with me or not?”
“I – yeah.” Tenko’s red eyes stay focused on yours this time. “I mean, I guess. If you’re serious.”
“I’m serious,” you say, and he kisses you.
He’s not wearing his gloves. You have to pull away so he can put them on, and then again to get more comfortable on the bed – and then again so he can take off his shirt. As soon as Tenko has his shirt off, he’s pulling at yours, and once it’s gone, he drags you into his arms, holding on almost painfully tight. He kisses you hard enough that his lips split in spite of your best efforts. He needs to slow down. You need to slow him down. But when you frame his face with your hands again, he melts against you in a way that’s impossible to resist. Maybe you’re the one who needs to change this time.
Every moment, every motion, fades seamlessly into the next. It feels natural to kiss the scar over the side of his mouth, and the birthmark below it, and move from there to kissing his neck. It’s natural to hook your leg over his hip, to roll to your back and pull him down on top of you. It only makes sense to peel off your pants and unbutton Tenko’s and slide your hand inside, palming him through his underwear. It feels right to kiss him while you touch him, even if it’s a shame to have to muffle the sounds he makes with your mouth. The destruction of everything and the creation of a new world feels so distant that it might as well be a dream. The only thing that matters is the texture of his skin under your hands, the brush of his hair against your cheek, the sound of his breathing and of his voice when he says your name.
“Stop,” Tenko says, his voice shaking, and you obey, withdrawing your hand from his waistband and resting it flat against his stomach. “I want – not like this. This time. I want us to – can we –”
He’s pulling at the waistband of your underwear, and it clicks in your head. There’s something the two of you haven’t done yet. “Sex,” you say. Tenko nods. He looks worried, like there’s a chance you’ll make fun of him or say no. “There are condoms in the nightstand.”
“I thought they were in the bathroom.”
“I moved them,” you say. “Is that weird?”
“No,” Tenko says. “You were thinking about it, too.”
You have been, on and off. You figured it would happen organically, but tonight is sort of your last chance to get your first time out of the way if you want your first time to happen in a bed behind closed doors. “I’ve been thinking about it,” you say. You wind your fingers into Tenko’s hair and tug lightly. “Want me to tell you what I’ve been thinking about?”
Tenko sucks in a breath. “Yes.”
You talk to him while he struggles out of his clothes and searches for the condoms you put in the nightstand. “I’ve been thinking about it,” you say, trying to shed any hint of self-consciousness. “I thought about riding you. Maybe holding your hands down, too – not so you can’t touch me, but so you don’t have to do anything but let me make you feel good. I thought about letting you take me from behind, so you’re in control of everything, start to finish. I’d trust you with that. I know you’d feel so good that I wouldn’t care about anything else.”
Tenko’s gloved hands are shaking as he tries to unwrap the condom. His cock looks almost agonizingly hard. “But then I decided,” you continue, trying not to stare, “that I want you on top of me, this time. I want to see you.”
“Why?”
“I like looking at you,” you say. You could get into it more, but you’re worried you’d embarrass him. “Tell me what you’ve been thinking about.”
He doesn’t seem to know what to do with the condom now that he’s opened it. Then again, he’s never been to sex ed. You take it from him. “I was thinking,” Tenko starts, then shudders as you roll the condom down over his length. “I – fuck, I don’t know, I’m not good at this like you are. I want – you –”
“We can work the rest out later.” You lie back, legs spread, and pull him down with you. “Let’s start here.”
You help him align his cock with your entrance, lift your hips to make it easier as he sinks into you for the first time. Tenko’s a stretch, just shy of uncomfortable, more than enough to make your head spin. Your hands are shakier than you want them to be as you reach for him, and the low moan that exits his mouth sends a rush of heat through you and makes your muscles clench tight. Tenko’s hips give a frantic jerk. “Don’t do that. I can’t last if you –”
“I can’t – not,” you gasp. “You feel even better than I thought you would.”
Tenko’s hips jerk again. You see him grit his teeth, clench his jaw, and his first real thrust is shallow, shallow enough that your body aches for more. The next is deeper, but not by much, and the pattern he falls into deepens by increments, so small that you can barely feel a difference. You know he’s trying to hold himself together, trying not to come too soon, but it feels like he’s teasing you on purpose. Torturing you. almost. Giving you just enough of what you want that all you can think of is what you’re missing.
“Please,” you say, and Tenko’s eyes widen. “I need more. I don’t care if it’s over fast. I just want –”
He sinks into you to the hilt, leaving no space between you, and it takes all your willpower not to cry out. The pace he sets is faster this time, uneven enough to keep you on your toes if your toes weren’t curling already. The only problem is that it makes kissing difficult, and without it, you’re both a little too loud. Tenko’s trying to keep his mouth covered and keep his balance at the same time. You cover it for him with one hand while the other works its way between the two of you, finding your clit. You want the two of you to finish together, or close to it. You don’t want Tenko to worry that it wasn’t good.
You’re closer than you thought you were. A lot closer. “Tenko,” you murmur, your voice shaking. “Tenko, I need you. You feel so good like – there –”
You’d have helped him find this spot if either of you had the patience, but he’s found it on his own, and there’s nothing more you can do. A few uneven thrusts, the slightest pressure against your clit, and you’re coming on Tenko’s cock. You know instantly that you can’t keep quiet, and with both hands occupied, the only way to muffle yourself is to press your mouth against Tenko’s shoulder. He fucks you for a few more unsteady, rapid strokes as you tremble and whimper and moan into his shoulder. The barely-muffed sounds he makes when he comes send one last jolt through you, intense enough that you bite down.
Tenko slumps forward against you, shuddering. You free both hands to wrap your arms around him, holding on tight.  And then it’s quiet in your room, save for the sound of his breathing and yours.
Your mouth is still glued to his shoulder. You can taste his sweat. Or maybe blood. How hard did you bite him? Embarrassment creeps in through the haze, worse when you realize you’re still clinging to him for dear life. You need to loosen up five seconds ago. “Sorry –”
“Huh?” Tenko sounds half-asleep, and two of you are working at cross purposes. You’re trying to let him go, and he’s settling in for a nap. “Don’t do that. It’s nice.”
He yawns. You can’t let him fall asleep like this. You shove lightly at his shoulder. “You can sleep in a second. We have to, um – disengage.”
“Why? I’m comfortable.”
He wants to fall asleep still inside you. That would be surprisingly hot if the condom wasn’t an issue. “The condom might leak. That’s not good.”
“It isn’t?” Tenko yawns again.
You can’t tell whether Tenko doesn’t know where babies come from or if he’s just being obtuse on purpose. “Getting pregnant when we’re about to go on the run would be really bad.”
“You were really good with that kid.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” You don’t get an answer, and you decide you’re not going to worry about it right now. “Out.”
Tenko groans and pulls away. You have enough time to ditch the condom in the trash can in the bathroom, followed by the speediest bathroom break and hand-washing of your life, and as soon as you’re within arm’s reach again, Tenko yanks you back down. He flops down into the same position as before, minus actually being inside you, and you decide the comment from before can’t go unaddressed. “Me being good with kids wouldn’t make it less stupid to screw around with birth control.”
“Yeah,” Tenko says, although you’re not sure of how much of it he actually got. His breathing is already starting to even out. “I didn’t know you kept the dog.”
“I kept everything you gave me,” you say. “Are you mad I gave it to her?”
Tenko shakes his head, burrowing deeper into your shoulder in the bargain. The bitemark you left is already bruising. “You win,” he says. You’re puzzling over that, your own eyelids growing heavy, when Tenko speaks again. “I love you.”
Your jaw drops. Toga told you that Tenko felt that way, that she can always tell when someone’s in love, but hearing it come out of his mouth is something else entirely. Some part of you is elated to hear it. That part of you wants to shake him awake and kiss him and tell him that you love him, too – and not so subtly suggest depleting your condom supply a little bit further. That would be the thing that makes sense, the normal thing to do, the thing that somebody who’s loved him for as long as you have to do. You do love Tenko. You loved him when you were children, and you’re in love with him now as an adult. So why does the thought of saying so fill you with terror?
It’s not like you’ve never told someone you love them before. You told Kazuo, when the two of you were dating. It felt easy then. You talked to your cousin about it afterwards, because the two of you were close, and she was surprised to hear you say so. “It’s never easy for me,” she said, and you couldn’t quite hide your own surprise. “It’s easy to feel love. When I love somebody I feel so much I can’t stand it. But saying it out loud makes it real. Saying it changes them, and it changes me. So it’s harder to say for me than for you.”
You always thought that was because of Manami’s quirk, which powers up the person she loves most when she tells them how she feels, but maybe it isn’t. Maybe it’s hard for you to say to Tenko because it makes it real in your head – more real than being his girlfriend, than basically moving him into your apartment, than quitting your job and going on the run with him and his villainous organization on a mission to tear down the old world. It’s stupid to think that way, when it’s everything you’ve done that makes it real. After everything you’ve done, everything you’re planning to do, you’ve proved your love for Tenko. Maybe you don’t need to say it out loud.
And maybe Tenko didn’t mean it, either. The two of you just slept together for the first time, and Mitsuko always says that you can’t count on anything a guy says until at least an hour afterwards. It was just an aberration, and it’s not like he’s waiting for you to say it back – he’s fast asleep in your arms, maybe drooling a little bit on your shoulder. There’s nothing for you to worry about. You close your eyes.
It takes you a second to get your bearings in the morning, to remember everything that happened yesterday. It was a lot. Overhaul almost had you kidnapped. You returned the girl the League kidnapped to the police. You realized you’d be going on the run and had sex with Tenko for the first time, and – you become conscious of someone watching you, and you open your eyes to find Tenko, awake before you for once and watching you with his chin propped in his gloved hand.
His hair is messy and his lips are cracked and stained with dried blood, but he looks well-rested for once. “What is it?” you ask. “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah.”
“Then, uh –” You struggle with forming the question. “Why are you staring?”
“You’re my sidekick, and my girlfriend, and we leveled up so hard last night that I slept like a rock.” Tenko cracks a grin, and a new split appears in his lower lip. “And I love you. Is that a good enough reason?”
You reach out and pull him in for a kiss, hoping he’ll count it as a yes. You lick the blood away from his lips and run your fingers through his tangled hair and do everything you can to ignore the twinging in your chest, the weight on the tip of your tongue. You love Tenko. Saying it might change things, but you can’t avoid saying it forever. It isn’t right. And with your involvement in the destruction Tenko’s planned for the world all but assured, you need to do the right thing where you can.

✩ My average schedule + Get ready with me on a random college day as an art student and an LOASS babe âŠč₊ㆍ👜
   ── .âœŠâ€ƒâ€ƒâ”†â€ƒâ€ƒáĄŁđ©â€ƒâ€ƒâ”†â€ƒâ€ƒâ„â€ƒ
Long ass post ahead
FYI!! We only have 4 days of college, so we get Friday off. My longest days in college are Monday, 11:15 am to 4:45 pm (depending on if we have tutorial first thing. If not, we will come in at 1 pm), and Tuesday, 11:15 am to 4:15 pm. My shortest days are Wensdays, 11:15 am to 3:00 pm and Thursday, 9 am to 12:30 pm. The days that are shorter than the others (mainly Thursday) are the ones that I prioritise focusing on extra work after hours. It is super important to me to use my Thursday free time for extra research/analysises/art work at home so I can so I can stay ahead and not fall behind in class

GRWM! The longest day of the week, Monday!
   ── .âœŠâ€ƒâ€ƒâ”†â€ƒâ€ƒđ–€â€ƒâ€ƒâ”†â€ƒâ€ƒâ„â€ƒ
The goal is to get a bus around 10:25 am to 10:45 am in order to get to college at 11:15 am
[ 000 :: Getting up ]
✩ I wake up at 9:15 am and immediately make my bed because no one likes to come home to an untidy bed.
✩ And then my first favourite thing I do is wonder what I wanna smell like today, I take out my specifically scented body wash, 2 in 1 shampoo, hair gel, body cream, deodorant (preferably scentless), and perfume with the scent I chose and then I do my blanket affirming in my 15-20 minute shower. After the shower, I moisturise my body with my scented body cream, spray deodorant, and move onto my clothes.
[ 001 :: Getting dressed ] — estimated time 9:35
✩ I love dressing up. At this point, I do my best not to overthink what to wear because I know I will be there forever, making multiple outfits but never choosing one. So I focus on what style I'm going for and pick out my clothes, always being mindful of the colours of course and then put them on
✩ Next I decide wether or not I want to wear make up (more times yes than no) but before I do my usual make up look, I quickly do my skin care routine to protect my skin and then I do my cutesy girlie make up all while affirming my blanket affirmations
✩ And then I move on to do my hair. Because I have super curly hair, depending on what style I want, it takes a bit of time to manage. So I usually settle with doing something simple like brushing my curls out into a fro and then putting it into a bun or puffs, or I leave my curls defined and either leave my hair down or put it in a bun, space buns or a tail type which usually takes me 10-15 minutes, taking us up to 9:55-10 o'clock.
✩ But if I'm feeling ambitious, I'll straighten/blow out my hair and do a straight hairstyle. I usually go for bantu knots, spikey buns (my signature half up, half down), pigtails/ponytails, or leave it down. Doing this would take me around 15-20 minutes, taking us up to 10 o'clock to 10:10.
[ 002 :: Breakfast time ] — estimated time 10:00
✩ It's always important to start your day with a satisfied stomach, which is why I always make sure I know what I want to eat for breakfast and if I want to eat a lot. Once I've made my breakfast, I like to look over the work I have already done on my ipad to see what more could be added while I eat.
✩ I try not to eat too slowly or take too much time doing tiny bits of extra work because I still need to brush my teeth and get my bag (which is always already packed). When I have finished my food, brushed my teeth and got my bag, I should be at the door by 10:30 to 10:45
[ 003 :: Ready to leave ] — estimated time 10:40
✩ I don't live far from my bus stop, so it usually takes me around 5-6 minutes to walk there, and then around 25 minutes to get to college on the bus.
✩ But sometimes my man best friend drives to my house to pick me up and then we both go to college together. I don't know which one I prefer the most to be honest but going by car is definitely a lot quicker (given that there isn't any traffic) and I just love beening in the presence of my boyfie bff
[ 004 :: College hours ] — estimated time 11:15
✩ Hurray we arrived on time! Looking delicious and smelling delicious. Now it is time to get to class and get a load of work done like the overachiever I am.
✩ Lunch time comes around and I leave the classroom to the couch area where my (girl) best friend is waiting for me. We chat and eat and chat some more until it's time to part ways back to class.
✩ Another more than generous amount of work gets done be me and my two super cool art besties, I'm sure the same can be said for the rest of the class but this isn't about them rn.
There's five people per table in my class, but only two tables in the middle have the ten of us, the other 3 tables are empty because we're a small class but I sit along side my two good classmates on the left side. We are very attentive, concentrated, and skilled art students. We always check up on each others art and written work, giving each other ideas and such. We are even jokingly referred to as "competition" by two of our other classmates (im not a fan of those two but it is what it is)
[ 005 :: Home time ] — scheduled time 4:45
✩ Sometimes, college can be grueling. Especially on Mondays. So to be able to have a close friend group to reunite with after the last hour of college is so so comforting. ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS AUTUMN/WINTER SEASON because it gets really dark in the late afternoon very quickly and I always prefer to go home with company in these seasons.
✩ I take the same bus as I did to college back home with my friends, usually right after getting a snack together and because we are a group of four (six if i include boy bestfriends sister and her boyfriend), none of us have to worry about strangers sitting next to us.
The bus drive home is always relaxing and in my opinion fun too.
[ 006 :: Arriving home ] — estimated time 5:10
✩ First day of the week done. Time to unwind, clean up, eat, relax and sleep. As soon as I get back home, I love to have a quick gossip with my mum about my day and get unready with my best friends of face time
There's this very common belief that you always have to talk of face time, but that's not all ways true. Me and my friends just like to have each others presence in silence, occasionally being nosy every now and then about what's for dinner, what's on TV and that's about it. Nothing more nothing less and its perfect that way.
I inform my friends I'm off to get a shower, I like to use my scentless soaps and body creams for bed time or maybe some light essential oils like lavender, I get out and throw an oversized T on because I don't like sleeping with bottoms on, yank my pink bonnet over my curls, slip my feet into some fluffy pink sliders and whatever I choose to do with the rest of my evening is random and spontaneous depending on what I'm in the mood for in the comfort of my home that I manifested ♡
∘₊ ✧───────────────────✧₊∘
àȘœâ€âžŽ. And that's my average GRWM/schedule of a random day on a random college day as an artist and an LOASS babe âŠč₊ㆍ♡⋆₊˚âŠč I dunno if you could tell but this was secretly a vault lmao

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16 Part 17 Part 18 Part 19 Part 20
There were not many changes to your life since you got married to Joel because you had lived with him before the two of you got married anyway. The differences were probably that you were now Mrs. Miller, Sarah’s legally your daughter, she called you mommy now, your house was sold, and the walls were full of your wedding and family pictures. You asked for a big frame for the picture of you with your wedding dress, Joel with his tux, and Sarah in the middle with a flower crown. She was your flower girl for your wedding. You hang the picture in the living room.
“Let’s go babygirl, you’re gonna be late for school.” Joel waited for you and Sarah at the door.
It was Sarah’s first day of preschool and she was so excited and asked you to help her dress up like a princess. On the other hand, you were nervous. She had never made any friends before so you were worried she might have some problems in school. You loved her so much that you didn’t want anyone to hurt her.
“Pretty.” You finished tying her hair and kissed her forehead.
“You look beautiful, princess.” Joel held his daughter’s hand and walked her to the car.
You followed them from behind and sat in the passenger seat.
“You excited, babygirl?” Joel looked at the rear view mirror to see his daughter.
“Yes! Yes!” She bounced on her seat excitedly.
You turned your head to look at her and smiled when you were actually trying to hide your worries. Joel recognized you being anxious but he didn’t want to talk about it in front of his daughter. So he just looked at you, held your hand and kept driving.
“We’re here.” Joel parked his car.
“Yay! Yay!” Sarah was so excited for her first day of school.
You got out of the car and helped Sarah out of the car. Joel grabbed her purple backpack and helped her carry it. You and Joel walked Sarah to her class and met her homeroom teacher.
“Good morning, I’m Ms. Andrews.” She shook Joel’s and your hand.
“Good morning, I’m Joel Miller and this is my wife. This is our daughter Sarah.” Joel rested both of his hands on Sarah’s shoulder.
“It’s her first day, please take good care of our daughter.” You smiled at her.
“I will. Don’t worry.” She assured you.
“Come one Sarah, class is starting.” She invited Sarah inside the class.
After you and Joel waved Sarah goodbye, both of you walked back to the car. You sighed as you closed the car door.
“You okay, darlin’?” Joel asked you as he put on his seatbelt.
“She’ll be okay, right?” You looked at Joel.
“Hey, she’ll be fine. I’m sure she’s gonna make a lot of friends.” Joel put his hand on top of yours that was resting on your lap.
“Okay.” You nodded.
“She’ll be fine. Don’t worry.” Joel reassured you and rubbed your hand with his thumb.
Joel drove you to the cafe then he went to work. Joel promised to pick you up earlier to pick up Sarah from school together. The day felt long as you were worried about how Sarah was doing at school. Your mind was full of thoughts thinking what you should do to comfort Sarah if she went home from school sad. You tried to distract yourself by helping to bake and decorating the cakes. It was finally time to pick Sarah up from school. Joel’s car was in front of your cafe so you took your purse and said bye to your employees.
“Where is she?” You tip-toed to get a clearer view behind all of the other parents.
“There she is.” Joel pointed at Sarah who just got out of her class.
“She looks happy. You have nothing to be worried about.” Joel rubbed your back in circles as he assured you.
You couldn’t see Sarah because you were too short and Joel was tall enough to see what was in front of him.
“Daddy! Mommy!” You heard Sarah’s voice.
She ran through the adults and jumped to hug your legs.
“How was your day?” You crouched and stroked her hair.
“I made lots of lots of friends. I met Emma, Lily, Katie, ..” She went on and on.
You nodded and smiled at her. You were relieved she had a good day and made some new friends. Joel chuckled as he saw his daughter so happy. He was proud that her daughter made it through her first day of school.
“You wanna get some ice cream, babygirl?” Joel lifted his daughter and kissed her cheek.
“I get ice cream?” She squealed.
“Yeah, baby. You did well on your first day of school.” Joel chuckled.
“Yay!” Sarah raised her hand to the air.
You chuckled and followed them to the car. Joel drove you and Sarah to the regular ice cream place that the three of you always went to.
“Stwabewwy!!” Sarah loved strawberry ice cream.
“I’ll get chocolate as usual.” You ordered.
“Coffee, please.” Joel ordered coffee flavored ice cream.
You loved chocolate, he loved coffee, Sarah loved strawberry. Each of you had your own favorite and the three of you always shared a spoon for a taste with each other.  Any family that saw the three of you were definitely jealous of how harmonized your family was.
"Can I have a little sister or little brother?" Sarah suddenly asked.
"Hmm?" You raised your eyebrows with the ice cream spoon still in your mouth.
Joel didn't expect his daughter to ask for a sibling so he was shocked too.
"Emma has a baby sister, Katie has a baby brother. I want to have one too." Sarah ate her ice cream and bounced on her seat.
"Well, that's uh.." Joel didn't know what to say because he needed your consent because you would be the one carrying a baby inside you for 9 whole months.
You just stared at Joel because you also didn't know what to say. You hadn't had the time to talk about having another baby with Joel since you got married because you were too focused on putting Sarah to school, expanding your cafe, and Joel also got another big project. So the two of you were super busy.
"What do you think mama?" Joel passed the question to you.
You widened your eyes.
"Hmm." You just hummed and chuckled.
Sarah pouted and finished her ice cream. The three of you went home after.
"I'm happy she had an amazing first day, Joel." You sighed as you sat on the couch after putting Sarah to bed.
"Me too, baby." Joel sat across from you on the armchair.
You and Joel enjoyed your night in the living room with a glass of wine. Talking about his day, your day, Sarah and what she asked you and Joel earlier. Suddenly, Joel stared at you.
"Can we have one more?" Joel suddenly asked.
"What do you mean?" You sipped on your wine.
"You'll look so beautiful pregnant, baby. And it would be nice to see our little one with a mix of you and me running around, playing with Sarah." Joel chuckled.
"All of sudden?" You raised your eyebrows.
"Can we have one more? Pretty please." Joel begged you with his brown puppy eyes.
You just gave him a smirk and shrugged.
"Is that a yes, maybe or a no?" Joel didn't understand your reaction.
You smirked and shrugged again.
"Just so you know, I'm ovulating today which means.." Joel cut you.
"Oohh I'm sooo gonna make you pregnant." Joel put his wine glass on the table and crawled his way to you and started kissing you.
You chuckled as you put your wine glass on the table then leaned back to get a comfortable position. You knew you and Joel were gonna make babies tonight. And yes, on your couch.
"We can't let Sarah see us." You whispered.
"She's sleeping, don't worry. We just have to be quiet." Joel whispered to your ear.
"Okay. We gotta stay quiet." You giggled.
Joel pressed his lips to yours as you wrapped your arms around his shoulders, caressing his back. He put his hands on your waist and snaked his way to the back of your thigh. Pulling and lifting you suddenly to sit on him. Your legs were now locking his waist. You started feeling aroused and you grinded on his hard cock under his pants. He groaned at your movements and his hands moved its way to your breast under your tank top squeezing it gently. You moaned in his mouth.
You couldn’t wait to feel him so you slipped your fingers to his pants trying to pull his pants off. He understood what you wanted and took off his pants and shirt. You pulled your shorts then he helped you take off your tank top. The two of you went back to position on the couch kissing, touching, and moaning. Joel’s hand cupped your cunt and he felt you so wet.
“So wet for me darlin’.” He mumbled while kissing you.
“Uhm-hmm.” You were so aroused and you couldn’t speak any words.
Joel smirked as he brushed his tip to your clit making you moan loud.
“Shh..” Joel covered your mouth.
You squeezed your eyes shut trying not to make any sound as much as possible. Then Joel brushed his tip again on your clit, teasing it before he slid himself inside you. Both of you moaned softly. You clenched your hand on Joel’s shoulder and he buried his face to your chest. Taking your breast to his mouth, sucking your nipple, biting it gently, arousing you. He started to move his hips and thrusted inside you. You wanted to scream his name but you couldn’t wake Sarah so you clenched your jaw and buried your face to his shoulder. Joel too was trying so hard not to make any loud noise because he didn’t want his daughter to see their parents doing it.
Joel kissed the inside of your breast before he raised his head needing to kiss your lips. His hand cupped your jaw and kissed you, licking your lips and tongue. Swallowing each other moans. Your hand caressing his back and he did the same to you.
His moves suddenly got faster and the sound of his skin bumping on your skin were louder. You bounced on him and lost your balance. So you flew your hand to the couch instinctively for balance. Joel’s arm wrapped around you and kept his pace. You whimpered as you felt close.
“Fuck.” Joel groaned.
“J-joel..” You called his name feeling so close to your climax.
Joel knew you were coming so he quickened his pace and he was close to coming too. You suddenly felt vibrations throughout your body and you shook. You clenched your hand that was resting on the couch and squeezed your eyes shut panting. You came. Joel groaned as he came inside you, releasing his seed to grow a baby inside you. He buried his face to your chest as he caught his breath. You rested your chin on top of his head and chuckled. Joel put his hand behind your head, laid you on your back, and rested your head on the couch's arm. He kissed your lips, then your cheek to your right jaw, and your chin.
“Hope that works.” Joel chuckled and kissed your lips again.
“I can’t wait to be pregnant.” You chuckled and caressed his bearded jaw.
“Another round?” Joel bumped his forehead to yours and you nodded.
*door creaking*
"What was that?" You gasped.
Joel froze and looked towards the stairs.
"I think that's our cue." You whispered and giggled softly.
“Wait, let me finish.” Joel kept thrusting inside you.
"Mommy! Daddy!" You heard Sarah scream and cry.
"Shit! Joel!" You pushed Joel and he groaned softly as he pulled out from you.
You grabbed your clothes and hurriedly dressed up ignoring the dripping cum on your thigh then ran upstairs to check on Sarah. Joel followed you behind.
"Hey, sweetie. Why are you awake?" You crouched to her and stroked her head.
"What's wrong babygirl?" Joel panted.
"I had a nightmare." She buried her face in your chest.
"Oh baby, come on, mommy and daddy’s here. You’re okay." You lifted her and brought her to your bedroom.
Joel looked at you and made a cross with both of his arms. He was giving you a sign to put Sarah back to her bedroom because both of you weren’t done with your night. You chuckled softly and shook your head. Joel pressed his palms together and mouthed “Please”. He begged you. You mouthed back at him, “Tomorrow, I promise.” He put his hand on his waist and the other rubbed his face in frustration.
“You’re sleeping with mommy and daddy tonight.” You laid her on the bed.
Joel climbed to his side of the bed. And Sarah was now lying between you and Joel.
“Daddy’s here.” Joel patted his daughter’s tummy gently to help her sleep.
After a few pats, Sarah was already back in her dreams. She was probably having a sweet dream now because you could see a smile on her face.
“I think she’s asleep.” You whispered and giggled.
“But I’m not.” Joel smirked and snaked his hand to cup your breast.
“Joel!” You yelled but in a whisper.
You slapped his hand and he pulled back his hand rubbing it.
“Ouch!” He whispered.
“So Sarah’s your number one?” He asked you with a  soft voice so he didn’t wake Sarah.
You smirked and shrugged. Just like he did to you last time.
“I guess I’m number two then.” Joel chuckled, moved closer, and extended his arms wrapping you and Sarah.
To be continued

CHERISHED KISSES - PEDRI
Part l
summary: When you traveled to Qatar with your dad, you meet someone unexpected. However it isn't easy to keep in touch with that person, as many struggles occur.
warnings: smoking
"Ladies and Gentlesmen this is your captain speaking, we have officially and successfully landed in Qatar, it's 11:15 pm and the weather is good with about 24 Celsius right now. Thank you for flying with us and enjoy the rest of your journey." The loud buzzing sound in the airplane finally stopped as the speakers went silent, there was rustling heard from the back of the plane.
"Thiago, can you get your backpack?" Antonella asked as she pointed at her son sitting next to you.
"Ciro has to get his own though, I'm not getting his." Your oldest brother stood up, his nike backpack in his hand as he was ready to leave the plane. Anto nodded her head and gave you Ciro's backpack so she wouldn't have to carry it. As you grabbed your own and stood up, you made your way out of the plane. As you walked past the captain and the stewardess, you gave them a faint smile.
Normally you would've gone with the private jet your dad owned, but your mother decided to be eco-friendly all of the sudden.
So as soon as you stepped out of the plane, you were immediately met with very fresh and cold air. It was warm but it definitely wasn't as warm and cozy as under the covers you received in first class.
As you, your brothers and your mom entered the ground after walking down the metal stairs, a bald man aproached you with a huge smile on his face. He looked a bit older but was built very muscular. "Welcome in Qatar Miss Roccuzzo, Miss Messi and the small ones. I am Alfro and it's an honor to be your driver tonight." He shook everyone's hands and then stepped aside so you would be able to see the black van.
"The honor is mine," Anto smiled at him and he immediately nodded his head while he inhaled sharply. He then suggested to load all the backpacks all of you had into the truck of the car. The other luggage will be brought to your hotel in a few hours by someone your dad hired, so you wouldn't have to wait.
While Alfro grabbed all of your backpacks and Anto, Ciro, Mateo and Thiago already made their way over to the car, you stood in one spot, admiring the night sky. Many stars were visible since there wasn't as many lights surrounding you. Your gaze however moved from the sky to the van, only to see your mom looking at you.
"Do you want to sleep outside hija?" Your mom asked, she was tired, that's why she was in such a bad mood. It was kind of her fault because she chose to be eco-friendly. In the private jet she would've gotten some sleep.
Yet you only shrugged your shoulders and also walked over to the van, the only empty seat was next to Thiago so you had no other choice but to sit next to him, he of course was also tired. Mateo and Ciro however were the complete opposite, they were full of energy, that's why they were talking to eachother while you and Thiago just fought to keep your eyes open.
Anto was sitting in the front, next to Alfro. he was talking to her as he drove through Doha. But something caught your attention.
"This hotel you see on the right is closed as of now, because the Spanish national team is staying there. They arrived yesterday, I heard that Luis Enrique wanted to make sure that nobody was jet lagged when they start training." Alfro pointed to the gigantic building on the right, a huge fountain decorating the drive way to the hotel. In the middle of the fountain was an angel carved out of stone. The light from the street lamp perfectly hit the statue so perfectly that every single detail was visible. It looked like a woman, however you weren't able to see her face but her head was slightly tilted downwards. Hands covered her face and her legs were also hidden by the dress she had, as she was standing on the two and a half meter tall pole. Gigantic wings came out of her back, they however weren't spread, instead they kind of hung down.
The whole hotel gave off a pretty rich vibe, however you didn't have long to look at it because Alfro kept driving. You looked at Thiago whose gaze was still looking outside the window, until eventually he turned his head to look at you.
"Do you think Pedri is here too?" He whispered, afraid that Anto might hear him. He didn't mind his brothers hearing him, they were too busy with talking about some kid series they watched on the plane.
"I'm sure he is, why do you ask?" You asked him. It was a bit weird that he asked this, he knew who was in the Spanish national team, and he damn well knew that Pedri was a part of that team. From time to time he showed you a picture of Pedri, sometimes when you watched the Barca games, he even specifically told you to look at the screen whenever he saw that the camera zoomed in on the midfielder.
You had a suspicion that Thiago missed Pedri a bit, even tho they didn't talk much while Messi was still at Barcelona, the few times they talked you always saw Thiago giggling and looking very happy. Each time Pedri brought him to you and reassured that he was fine, he'd look at you with those eyes. Yet no words were exchanged, only looks but nothing more.
You kinda found it weird how much Pedri had changed in a year. You hadn't seen him in person ever since the farewell speech of your father, but he looked very different in tv. However Thiago then snapped you out of your thoughts again.
"I just forgot, I guess." He shrugged his shoulders for the second time and then looked out the window again. While shaking your head you looked out your window, the stars still slightly visible but not as much as they were at the airport.
Faint music was playing the background, you heard that it was Sin Señal by Quevedo, it was Thiago's favorite song. Looking from the sky back to your mom in the front of the car, you couldn't help but notice how many people were still outside on the streets.
Maybe it was the crazy nightlife in Doha everyone was talking about or maybe there was just a party the night you arrived, however you made yourself a mental note that you'll check it out while you're staying here.
"Here we are!" Alfro smile as he pulled into the round driveway of the huge two-building hotel. There were two very high buildings and an Argentine flag hung between the two. You faintly smiled as you looked at it, there was a light pointed directly at the flag so that it would be visible at night.
"They're pretty proud to be welcoming your team, as you can see." Alfro laughed as Anto's mouth fell open at the sight.
She laughed and nodded her head. "As they should." It was good to see your mother smiling again, you always hated when she was in a bad mood.
So as the security from the hotel checked all of your passports and granted Alfro access to the parking lots, he parked the car and Anto and you got out immediately.
Alfro went to the truck to give you your backpacks.
"And here you go little guy." Alfro handed Ciro the last backpack and then closed the trunk of the car.
"Hey can I ask you something?" You remained outside while your brothers and mom already started walking to the entrance of the hotel after they said goodbye and thank you.
"Of course, what is it?" He smiled while putting both of his hands on his hips.
"Our hotel is pretty far outside the city, how come the one Spain is staying in, is so close to the city centre?" You asked, he then chuckled a little bit.
"As far as I know, they just like to flex a little bit, they sleep and eat there but they need to be transported out here to train. As you might know this hotel built 5 football fields. Especially for this world cup but in the future a youth team will train here." He explained everything while talking with his hands. You couldn't help but still wonder.
"What do you mean they have to get transported here?" Your eyebrows knitted together.
"If you grab a bike and cycle down this road for about 5 minutes, you'll reach another football training ground where the spanish team is training." He pointed down the street, a few street lamps placed along the road that seemed to be going into a forest.
"Okay, thank you so much. And thanks for the drive too!" You smiled while you began walking away backwards. He waved at you but then you suddenly remembered something.
"Oh wait." You began walking towards him again while you grabbed your wallet from your left pocket. "Here, take this." You smiled as you handed him 79 Riyal (which is about 20 euros).
"Oh thank you so much but it's not necessary." He tried to give you back the money with a faint smile because your dad haid paid everything in advance, however you shrugged your shoulders as you began walking backwards once again.
"Have a good night" You waved quickly before turning around and walking into the hotel. The lobby was almost empty, a few people were talking with eachother. Most of them looked like they worked there.
"Hey, um my mom checked in just a couple of minutes earlier, could you please tell me which room she's staying in?" Walking up to the desk which a blonde woman was sitting at. She looked like she hasn't slept in 2 days, that also exaplained the open red bull can standing at the desk.
"Hey, if Antonella Roccuzzo is your mom, she should be in building B, floor 13, which is the top floor, and... in suite 2. You're allowed to enter building B, but building A is off limits until the SelecciĂłn arrives. As of now we don't serve breakfast since the SelecciĂłn will be using our kitchen. The elevator to building B is that way." She told you so many things in such a fast pace. However at the end she pointed to her left, so you gave her a quick nod with a smile and then began to walk towards the navy blue metal elevator.
Messi had told you that only family of the footballers and some other staff from the SelecciĂłn will be staying in building B. The more important people will be in building A.
Your face crunched up as the elevator doors opened and a horrible odor of vinegar hit you.
Pulling up your shirt to cover your mouth and nose, you entered the elevator and pressed the button to floor 13. The inside of the elevator gave off the same vibe as the lobby did. Very modern and expensive looking, a grey carpet covered the floor while the walls were white.
As the doors slid to the side, you were met with a room, two doors on either side. While stepping out of the elevator you finally dropped the shirt back down and looked at the door to your right.
A black number 2 written on the door, so immediately you rang the doorbell twice. A few seconds passed before you heard some running and the door opened, you came face to face with Mateo.
"Thanks" You flashed him a smile and then went inside, he looked at you while closing the door.
"Where were you?" He asked as you walked through the hallway, entering a bigger and taller room. One of the walls was replaced with a huge glass, giving whoever is inside a beautiful room over the ocean since the hotel was right next to the beach.
There was a huge tv, a couch, a kitchen and three doors, each leading to different rooms. Anto, Thiago and Ciro were sat on the couch, your mom on the phone while Thiago was playing something on his Ipad and Ciro watching him.
"I was- uh talking to Alfro." You hardly managed to look away from the beautiful view outside the window. But as you looked down at Mateo he crossed his arms.
"What were you talking about?" He asked while he looked at you put down your backpack next to the couch.
"Why do you care?" You raised your voice a bit at him, he was being annoying with all the questions and following you around.
"Y/n watch how you talk to your brother." Your mom suddenly raised her head and looked at you for a split second bdfore looking back at her phone.
"What did I do?" you raised your voice a bit as you held up your hands. You were met with Mateo who stuck out his tongue to you. "You're so annoying." While you rolled your eyes, you grabbed your backpack and went into oke of the rooms. There were three beds so you assumed that room wasn't yours. Walking into the next one you immediately put down your backpack on the bed and walked to the door again. "This room is mine, goodnight!" You stuck your head out the door so everyone could hear you, and then you closed the door and locked it too. As you turned around you saw that there was a huge bed, it was facing the glass wall which gave you a beautiful view whenever you sat on the bed. On the left from the bed there was a sliding door which you assumed led to a bathroom. Making your way over there, you found out that you were right, a shower, sink and toilet were in the bathroom. There were also blinds rolled down which you assumed had the same huge window.
However you didn't have the energy to check it out now. So you walked back to your backpack, took out your toothbrush and toothpast and went to brush your teeth after you changed into the oversized shirt you brought to sleep in.
As soon as you were done and walked back into the dark bedroom, you pulled out your phone you saw that your dad had texted you, so without thinking much of it, you pressed the face time button.
"Hola hija." Your phone lit up with his face and you squinted your eyes a bit at the brightness.
"Hey, we arrived at the hotel now, look how cool my room is." You lifted up your phone to show your room and the view. Messi laughed as he looked at the phone.
"I know, I booked it, did you luggage arrive already?" He smiled a bit.
"No, not yet, mom said she'll stay awake until it arrives, but who knows when that dude arrives." You said and went back to the bed to sit down.
"Okay, whatever your mother wants, listen, you go to sleep now or else you'll be extremely jetlagged, tomorrow your mother has planned something. I have no idea what but she told me about something. I'll talk to you tomorrow okay?" Messi explained and you nodded your head as you yawned.
"Bye, goodnight" You waved at the camera and he blew you a kiss. Then as you hung up, you turned off your phone and out it to charge on the bedside table.
Just a few minutes after that you already drifted off to sleep.
The next morning you woke up at 5 am, so you decided to get up and walk to the beach. But first you took a shower and then picked out a simple black shirt with black shorts. By the time you walked down to the lobby ut was already half past 6.
While you made your way outside you walked past an employee of the hotel, he walked closer to you ans opened his mouth.
"Hey do by any chance know Lionel Messi?" He asked as he anxiously fidgeted around with his hands.
"Not that well, but I do know him." You said with a sarcastic smile and then man just nodded, you could tell he was nervous, however you weren't sure if he really did know who you were.
It did happen sometimes that people asked you for a picture but that was rather rare. However people often said hi to you or looked at you.
"Do you know where the next store is?" You asked him, completely ignoring that he maybe wanted to take a picture or anything else.
"Uhm, yeah if you walk down the road, you should find one in about 5 minutes k
of walking." He said and pointed behind himself while looking at you.
"Okay thank you so much." You walked out the door and began walking down the street just as the guy said.
It was awfully quiet, only the sound of the birds singing and the wind blowing lingering around in the air.
Arriving at the small store, you went inside and immediately went up to the cashier. "Hey, could you give me a Marlboro red and a lighter?" You asked the man who was about 40 years old. He looked like he was from Qatar, very Arabic face.
"Can I see your ID please?" He gave you a dirty look and you nodded while grabbing into your phone case and pulling out your ID.
"Here" You gave it to him and he held it between his fingers while looking at it with furrowed brows. Suddenly his gaze softened and the frown on his lips immediately turned into a smile.
"Messi? Is that your real name?" He raised his brows and gave you back your ID while putting the Malboro red and the lighter on the counter between you both.
"Yeah" You said with a smile and he squinted his eyes a bit while looking at you.
"You're lying." He smiled but you shook your head, the store was completely empty that's why he didn't hurry with making you pay.
"I'm not, google me." You told him and he gave you a suspicious look before pulling out his phone from his pocket and looking at you. "Y/n Messi" You said and he nodded his head while shifting his gaze back to his phone.
He chuckled and his face brightened up even more as he looked up from his phone and to you again.
"Can I take a picture with you?" He asked in a heavy accent and you nodded your head. He walked around the counter and stood next to you, he put his hand on your shoulder and you smiled as he took a couple of photos.
"Can I pay with card?" You looked at him while he walked back behind the counter. As you looked at the screen, you saw that he took off 50%. You smiled as you paid and then said goodbye to him.
Walking outside again, you immediately began walking down to the beach. After a while you were already walking on sand and saw the waves. That's when you grabbed into your pocket and pulled out a cigarette and the lighter. Sticking the cigarette into your mouth, you covered the front with your left hand while you lit it with your right.
So while you walked along the beach while smoking, you didn't notice that three other people were watching you.
"Shut up" Ferran stopped walking immediately and so followed Gavi and Pedri who were walking by his side. "Isn't that Y/n?" Ferran asked as he put his hand up to cover his smile.
"I don't know, but it looks like her." Gavi added as he furrowed his eyebrows while staring at you. They were walking along the path that was made out of stone higher up on the beach, and you were turned the other way, facing the ocean.
"Hermano that's her!" Ferran mumbled, Pedri just stared at you without saying anything. He was deep in his thoughts, he hadn't seen you since Messi left Barça which was about three years ago.
"Pedri you knew her." Pedri snapped back as soon as Ferran said that. He turned his head to look at the striker and shook his head.
"I've never liked her, we didn't get along while she was in Barcelona. I loved her brother but her? Nah," Pedri explained and Ferran raised his brows but Gavi reacted faster.
"Why didn't you get along? You and Messi were also fine?" He asked and Pedri exhaled deeply.
"She seemed too arrogant in my opinion, I never really talked to her though, so that's why I may be wrong but some way I heard her talk to others." Pedri shook his head as he looked away from you again. "and she's smoking too."
Ferran furrowed his brows as he looked at the smoke coming from you. "That's her thing. Anyways, let's go" Ferran mumbled and Gavi nodded his head as the two started walking. Pedri caught himself looking at the back of your head a bit too long. But then he snapped out of it and eventually caught up with his teammates.
After you were done with taking the little walk, you went back to the hotel room where you were met with Anto sitting on the couch, a plate of eggs infront of her.
"Where were you?" Anto asked as she turned around while shutting off her phone.
"I was just taking a walk mom." You answered in a bit of annoyed tone. You walked into the kitchen and then also scooped some eggs onto your plate.
"I was worried about you" She stood up and brought her plate over to the sink where she washed it off with water.
"Mom, I'm 19." You gave her an annoyed look but she still put her hands onto her sides as she watched you eat.
"Yeah but what if you get kidnapped by someone? Many people here know you." Her voice wasn't strict but rather worried.
You shook it off and then went into your room. A few hours later after your brothers woke up and got ready for the day, Anto told you to come outside.
"Come on, let's go to the car." Anto commanded and all of you went into the elevator. That same disgusting odor of vinegar was lingering in the elevator. You pulled up your shirt until you arrived in the lobby. Then you all sat into the car and you mom started driving.
"Where are we going now?" Thiago asked, he was sitting in the backseat with the rest of your siblings, while you were in the front next to your mom.
"We're going to visit Elena and Romarey." Anto said while she looked in the review mirror for a second. You however were way too distracted by Doha, it was pretty hot outside, you noticed by the window that was rolled down a few centimeters. The sun was shining and there were a couple of people walking around on the sidewalks. There were also huge buildings, all very clean and with big windows, you assumed they were offices or something else, maybe even very rich apartment buildings.
"Does that mean we are gonna see Jordi and Busi too?" Mateo asked excitedly, while you still lived in Barcelona, Busquets and Jordi Alba were at your house very often, considering that your dad was very close with both of them.
"I'm sure we will." So you all sat in silence, atleast you did, your siblings asked some stupid questions which your mom had to answer. As you pulled into the driveway of the hotel your eyes fixated on the fountain withe the weird statue once again. You were sure that that woman had a story and that's why she looked that way, you however would need to ask someone.
As your mother spoke to the security and they checked if she really was on the list, they let you in. She parked the car on a parking lot and then all of you made your way over to the main entrance.
As you walked into the lobby, you pulled out your phone to check a few messages, that's why you just followed behind your family.
That was until your brothers started running and Thiago just walked really fast. So immediately you put away your phone and saw a few people sitting on a couch.
"Jordi, Busi!" Your brothers said loudly as they went to hug them. They both were sitting next to eachother. However, Balde, Ferran and Pedri were also there. You at first avoided eye contact with Pedri, but eventually everyone stood up to say hello to your mom and to you in the traditional way by kissing your cheeks.
First Jordi who you also hugged right after, "You grew so much." He smiled and you just smiled at him while you furrowed your brows. Then Busi. "He's right, the last time I saw you, you were little, about here." Busquets pointed to the middle of his stomach.
"Well that's how biology works," You joked and then shrugged your shoulders. Them Ferran came over to you.
"Hey, nice to meet you, I'm Ferran." He said after he took a step back from you.
"I'm Y/n the pleasure is mine." You gave him the same smile.
"I'm Balde, also very nice to meet you." He also said as he again took a step back.
"Y/n, nice to meet you too." You also gave him a faint smile. That's until Pedri stood infront of you, your smile immediately faded and the same went for Pedri.
It was awkward to watch you two stand infront of eachother. Pedri had his lips in a thine line while he bit the insides of his cheek.
Meanwhile you just looked at him, waiting for him to say something. That however passed as soon as he gave you a small nod and then turned around to sit down again. Atleast that's what you thought, because he turned around, went over to Balde and the two of them then went to the elevator.
You scoffed as you saw them walk away, Ferran noticed that and came over to you. "Hey, we haven't talked yet, haven't we?" He asked with a bit of a forced smile. The rest of your family was distracted speaking to Jordi and Busquets.
"No, we literally just met." You joked and he nodded his head while he ran his fingers along his forehead and broke the eye contact for a second.
"Yeah, so um, you're Messi's daughter?" Ferran mentally hit himself as why he was asking these stupid questions. You looked at him for a second with a confused look.
"Yeah." You parted your lips into a thin line and nodded your head. However while you and Ferran shared an awkward moment together, Pedri and Balde were just walking to the community room.
"What's up with you now?" Balde asked as he tried to keep up with Pedri's fast pace, he was almost running down the hallway.
Pedri shook his head, "See that's why I hate her, she's so arrogant. I cant stand it, just cause Leo had money while she grew up." He said in an annoyed tone and then both of them arrived in the room. They saw Gavi and Laporte sitting at a table, chatting to eachother.
Pedri stormed over to a couch and sat down while taking out his phone, that's why he earned two weird stares from Gavi and Laporte.
"What's wrong with him?" Laporte asked Balde who went and sat down on a chair next to Gavi.
"He saw Messi's daughter and then he got all mad and-" Balde looked at Pedri for a second. "i dont even know, she looks nice to me."
"Yeah that's until you hear how she talks to other people!" Pedri said loudly to which Balde just shook his head.
"It's been three years kid, get over it and try to be nice to her. I've talked to her and her mother before, nothing wrong with her, maybe you just want to believe that she's mean and cruel." Laporte turned around in his seat and looked at Pedri who didn't lift his gaze from the phone.
"Mhm" Pedri hummed and completely ignored the strikers opinion.
"Come on Pedri you're being stupid right now. You're acting like a kid." Gavi stood up and walked over to his teammate.
"Oh so now I'm being stupid for having an opinion? Yeah you all bestfriends with her now?" Pedri looked up at Gavi and said aggressively.
"No but you don't even have a reason to hate her, just get yourself under control and talk to her like a proper human being goddammit. Do you even hear the stuff you're saying right now? I thought you were mature enough to play in the world cup but it seems like I gotta talk with Lucho about you. You're 19 and acting like a 5 year old." Gavi raised his voice aswell as he told that to his friend who was still sitting infront of him. Pedri was now looking at him with big eyes and he was deep in his thoughts.
Meanwhile Balde and Laporte were shocked, they've never heard Gavi talk like that before and they didn't expect it to be Pedri he talks to like this.
"Now good job ruining everyone's mood because of your childish attention needs." Gavi told him and then walked out the door. Pedri looked after him and then looked down on the floor.
"He was right." Laporte added and Pedri nodded his head while he stood up and also went over to the door. Without saying a word he left and returned back to his small room.
While all that happened, you and Ferran weren't as awkward around eachother anymore. After Ferran found out that you used to play with Sira when she was about 12 years old and you 11, you immediately had something to talk about.
"So is she also coming here to watch the games?" You asked as he was now sitting next to you outside on the stairs, you were facing the giant gates that didn't allow anyone to acces the hotel without being checked.
"She's coming here for Spains first game, she just has to finish her riding competition and then yeah." He clapped his hands together and smiled a bit while looking at his shoes.
"Oh right, I forgot that she's an equestrian." You mumbled while grabbing into your pocket and pulling out your phone to look at the time.
"Yeah, you should see her sometime, she's amazing."
"I will one day, but I should also probably look for my mom, I've been here for half an hour. Do you know where they could be?" You asked and turned around to look inside the hotel through the glass doors which are the main entrance.
"I have no idea, sorry. I don't know where those older people hang out." He chuckled as he looked at you call your mothers number. However she didn't pick up so you sighed and stuffed the phone into your pocket once again.
"She never picks up the phone, it's so annoying." You rolled your eyes.
"My mother is the same way, it gets annoying sometimes." Ferran chuckled.
"Yeah well, that means I gotta look for her now."
"I'll come with you, I think I know where Jordi and Busi are, so that's where she must be too." Ferran stood up and so did you. You two went over to the elevator and he pressed the button with a big 4 on it.
"Four? What's there?"
"A giant open area, it's like a huge balcony with a bar and tables and all that." He explained and you nodded your head. "two to three is staff, five are doctors and therapists and seven to eight are players."
"What about six?" Your gaze shifted from the buttons to his eyes again.
"That's like hanging out or having meetings, it's basically 4 giant rooms." He shrugged his shoulders and you nodded your head.
"Okay."
The two of you then were successful while searching for your mother because you found her exactly where Ferran thought she was gonna be.
Your brothers were playing on your moms phone, but only about 20 minutes later after chatting with Elena and Romarey, you decided to go out for lunch. However it was only you, your mom and your brothers.
So while sitting in the car, you crossed your arms while looking at Mateo next to your mom in the passangers seat.
He had convinced your mother to let him sit there so you had no other chance but sit next to Ciro and Thiago in the back.
"Did you see vicky?" Ciro asked as he looked at you.
"No I didn't." You answered in a harsh tone, obviously still pissed off.
"She's not even here yet." Thiago told his brother who looked at you again. You stayed silent for a second while thinking about all the people arriving in a few days.
"Oh my god, Oriana is coming soon!" You screeches in excitement. Sadly you and Dybala's girlfriend rarely got to meet up even tho you two got along great.
"So is Vicky coming too?" Ciro asked once again and you turned to look at him. Vicky was Paredes's daughter.
"I don't know Ciro, quit asking me stupid questions." You told him off to which you saw your mom give you an angry look through the review mirror. You shurgged your shoulders as an answer.
So two days went by like that, you spending time with your family and meeting old friends. Until eventually you were sitting on your bed, looking at some instagram reels when you saw an Incoming phonecall from Oriana.
Immediately you accepted and her face popped up on the screen.
"Hey babe, look where I am." She smiled and turned the camera, she was sitting in the car but you could see through the window. She was infront of your hotel.
"Oh my god, I'm coming down." A smile filled your face immediately and you hung up while you stood up and began to sprint to the elevator. Mateo just looked at you confused but then turned around and went back to playing with his Ipad. As you arrived, you just saw Oriana walking inside, without thinking for a second, you walked over to her and wrapped your arms tightly around her body.
"Oh my god" She simply mumbled as she kissed your cheek and pressed you closer to herself.
"I missed you so much." You smiled and then slowly pulled away from her, she brought up her hands and cupped your cheeks as she looked at you.
"You're so grown up." She smiled, her teeth visible, you just couldn't resist but smile too.
"Oh come on, just cause you're older than me."
"I'm not older than you, I was born first." Ori gave you a small smile as she let her hands fall down once again. She hated being called old.
You then went to her room, she obviously had to leave her stuff there, so while you sat on the couch which was facing the small tv, she showed you all kinds of clothes she brought and where she planned to wear them. Meanwhile you and Oriana were having loads of fun, the others in the spanish team were still holding a grudge, but they didn't have much time for that especially when their coach just texted Ferran to inform everyone around him that there will be a team meeting.
"I'll tell him." Ferran told Balde as he stood up from the bed and walked over to the door, before he left he turned around. "I'll be right back"
That's when he made his way over to Pedri's room which wasn't too far away from Baldes. As he knocked on the door, he heard a "come in" from inside the room and then he immediately pushed down the doorhandle.
"Hey, Lucho said we'll have to be downstairs in 30 minutes." Ferran said as he looked at Pedri sitting on the bed.
"For what?" The midfielder asked without looking up from his phone.
"Team meeting" Ferran mumbled and then just as he wanted to close Pedri's door again, the midfielders voice stopped him.
"Ferran-" Pedri began and the striker opened the door wider so he could look at him, still not stepping away from the doorframe. "Can I talk with Gavi, Balde and you after?"
"Yeah, I'll tell them" Ferran nodded and then closed the door. As he walked over to Gavi's room, he noticed a weird smell of feminine perfume lingering around in the hallway, but he ignored it and just thought that it was from a worker of the hotel.
As he knocked on the door, he heard ruffling and shifting on the other side. Then after a few seconds Gavi opened the door, he wore that pissed off expression on his face, just like always. In Ferrans opinion it was funny how gavi always looked mad.
"What?" He asked, he was obviously still pissed off about Pedri, he had every right to be of course.
"Um, Pedri wanted to talk me, you and Balde after the teammeeting." Ferran began walking into Gavi's room and he sat down on the bed eventually.
"You can tell him to go fuck himself, talking out things now? That idiot." Gavi crossed his arms infront of his chest and leaned a bit forward as he talked.
"Gavi, you'll have to listen to what he has to say, besides the fact I'm sure Y/n doesn't care if Pedri hates he-" Gavi cut off Ferran mid sentence.
"It's not about Messi's daughter, I couldn't give a shit less about her, its about the awfully childish behavior he has. That's annoying me the most. 'well yeah three years ago she was mean to someone now ill hate her for the rest of my life' you can't tell me that that is not childish. How are we gonna win the World Cup if we'replaying with him?" Gavi said Pedri's part in a high pitched voice.
"Well yeah but I think he thought about this a lot and now he's got himself together." Ferran still defended Pedri. It wasn't like Gavi was wrong, but he understood the way Pedri thought about you. Because that was the last impression he got of you and that's what stayed with him for all these years. He could've made a few new impressions of you instead of holding onto the old ones, Ferran interpretended you as a nice woman who you could definitely have a laugh with.
However now it was very stressful for everyone and many people lost their patience earlier with some of their teammates already.
With the world cup happening in 11 days, nobody needed any drama or fights. That's why Ferran was glad that Pedri wanted to talk things out. So after the team meeting with Luis Enrique, Pedri was confronted by one of his worst fears in that moment. He saw Gavi standind next to the spanish coach, Gavi looked rather serious, his coach was seen smiling.
But as Gavi turned his head and saw the Canarian staring at him, he said goodbye to his coach and walked over to him.
"Hey" He stopped right infront of him, it took his a couple of seconds to snap out of it before responding to Gavi.
"Let's go to my room, Ferran and Balde are already there." Gavi agreed with a small nod and then followed Pedri to his room.
As the door swung open, Gavi saw Ferran and Balde sitting on the couch, so he went to join them while Pedri sat down on the bed infront of them.
"So I have thought over everything and I wanna apologise for my stupid behaviour, it was unsuitable and not necessary, I'll change it." Pedri immediately addressed the elephant in the room. A few seconds of silence sat between the footballers in the room.
"I didn't really care anyways. As long as you don't start beef with me, we good." Balde put up both of his hands in the air and Pedri chuckled a bit. Ferran was smiling too but as Pedri looked at Gavi, he saw the same expression he wore when he was pissed off.
After mostly the three of them talked, it was time to leave and then go to sleep. Ferran and Balde went out the room first, just as Gavi wanted to follow, Pedri stopped him.
Gavi turned his body to face Pedri, the Canarian held up his hand to dab up Pedri "Are we good?" he asked as Gavi put his hand into his.
"Mhm, we are." Gavi licked his lips and then turned his head away but Pedri kept holding onto his hand.
"Are we?" The Canarian asked to which Gavi turned around again. This time he couldn't contain the smile that dared to slip every second.
"We are." Gavi said in a more convincing voice. To that Pedri's face also lit up with a smile and he pulled Gavi into a hug.
"I'm glad." Pedri patted his back a few times before pulling away.
"Yeah now let go of me." Gavi smiled a bit while he pushed him back and then left the room. Pedri then closed and locked the door immediately and went to sit down on his bed. As he opened Instagram, a few posts popped up of people he knew who also traveled to Qatar.
While scrolling down his feed, he saw one specific picture posted by Oriana. Pedri had gotten closer to Dybala over chat and they got along great, he was looking forward to meeting him in real life, so of course he knew who his girlfriend was.
What he didn't know was that she was on good terms with you, as he swiped through the 10 pictures Oriana posted, he saw that you appeared on 9 of them. Always hugging eachother or just being right next to eachother.
Pedri shook his head and then turned off his phone and decided to finally go to sleep.
While Pedri went to sleep, you were wide awake, lying on your back below your covers. The door to your own small balcony was wide open, cars speeding in the distance and the waves crashing against eachother were heard outside. The fresh air that blew inside made you shiver as you were only wearing panties and a bra, so you decided to stand up and pulled a simple red shirt over your head while making your way over to your closet where you his the cigarettes below some shirts your brought.
You pulled one out, lit it and then walked outside, while you admired the ocean once again, you finished smoking the cigarette and sat down on the floor. Luckily the railing was made out of glass so you could see through. It was also surprisingly hot, you didn't feel cold at all, even tho you just had a shirt on. And without even realizing it, you began to drift off to sleep, so you stood up quickly and moved to your bed. While you laid on your back, you waited for your eyelids to get heavier and heavier until they eventually shut down and you fell asleep. In that moment you wouldn't have thought that the next week would be the most life changing week of your life.

comes back to me, burning red - F. Andersen
Tumblr media
Summary: Kendra Lee and Freddie Andersen lost touch after he was traded from Anaheim – will a surprise encounter bring back their friendship? And maybe more?
I’m jumping in as a pinch hitter for @misshoneyimhome for @callsign-denmark’s Luck of the Puck fic exchange! I haven’t written about Freddie in a little while so it was fun getting back to him – and thanks for answering all my questions! Such a lovely twist of fate after receiving my own fic from her today.
Flashback sections are in italics.
Words: 7.9k
Warnings: discussion of Freddie’s injuries, light angst, friends to lovers, cheesy flirting
Title from: Red by Taylor Swift
~
“Good morning Kendra Lee!”
Kendra grimaced, shutting the door to her yoga studio behind her, her long blonde hair swinging as she turned.
“Full name, first thing in the morning? What did I do?”
Her colleague and friend, Mimi, just snickered, shaking her head.
“Nothing bad, I promise,” Mimi said, smiling.
“Still ominous,” Kendra mused, swiping her staff card to log her as present in the building, “What’s going on?”
“Okay so you know how you moving over to Raleigh with me a month ago was to give you opportunities to do more yoga rehabilitation work?”
“Yes
?”
It was true, as vague as her friend was being. Having worked across yoga studios California for nearly 11 years, Kendra had jumped at the chance of diving more into rehabilitation work within yoga. Being made co-owner with Mimi and her sister Celeste was just the cherry on top.
“I was staying late last night to finish up the stock check and I got a call – specifically for you to do yoga rehab for an athlete needing conditioning to make his way back to playing. I know it’s right up your street, kind of exactly what you want to do more of, so I said yes.”
“You said yes already?” Kendra asked, surprised.
“I know, I know, but this is a huge opportunity. I said yes, with the caveat that I would double check timings with you this morning and let them know your availability for today,” Mimi explained.
“For today?” Kendra gasped.
“Yes, I know, but the guy organising it all for the athlete was insistent – the athlete chose you, off a list of yoga instructors based on feedback from other clients you had, and that’s huge,” Mimi said, wincing in apology.
Kendra took the time to think over her friend’s words, throwing her long blonde waves up in a twisted bun, her typical work hairstyle.
“You’re right. That is huge. Surprising, but huge. I guess, uh, just see what I’ve got this afternoon? I know I’ve got a couple of classes this morning already,” Kendra eventually said, “including
damn it, one that start in 15 minutes.”
Pregnancy Yoga, affectionately known as Moms who Move. Not women to mess around.
“Alright, you go get set up and I’ll call them back. Thanks, Kendra. And sorry for it being so last minute,” Mimi smiled.
“Hey, it happens. Let’s stay positive with it!” Kendra grinned.
As sudden as the work was, it really was where her heart lay, so this could only be a good thing right? Everything she’d been working towards?
“That’s the spirit I love! Get it girl!”
Kendra just laughed her way into Studio Two, her usual room, ready to make sure her class was set up in time.
By the time the afternoon rolled around, Kendra was pleasantly tired. All three classes had run smoothly so far today and there had been no major hiccups (or incidents) with any of her students. Even the Grooving Grandmas class (the adorable name her group of 12 senior ladies gave themselves) had behaved today, which only left her in a great mood.
So great, she lost track of time, until Mimi poked her head into the room.
“Hey, Kendra, your 2pm is here.”
“Oh damn, the athlete?”
“Yeah that’s the one. I’m just finishing up his intake forms if you want to join us,” Mimi said with a smile.
Kendra smiled back, nodding as she followed her friend out to the front desk. If she was being honest with herself, she would’ve liked a bit more preparation time, or even a name to start with. Hell, even the sport the athlete played in would’ve been useful, so she could start thinking of a program for them. Hopefully the athlete would understand the last minute nature of the set up. Hopefully.
But standing there in the lobby was the last person she expected to see. Just as tall and gorgeous and imposing as she’d last seen him in Anaheim, before he left over 7 years ago. He was her athlete?
“Freddie?”
“It’s been a long time, Kendra,” he murmured, smiling.
“You two know each other?” Mimi said, confused.
~
“How are your teaching hours coming along? You can’t have many left now before the next level, right?”
Kendra smiled up at her boss brightly. After her initial 200 hours training, she knew that teaching yoga was going to be her life’s work, even though she was only 21. Having worked insanely hard over the past two years, she was nearly ready to lead classes all by herself rather than as an assistant, and wasn’t that a heady thought? “No, not many left at all. As of yesterday I actually have 990 hours logged.”
“So you’re nearly ERYT 200?” her boss, James, grinned.
The third level of yoga instructor, after two years and 1000 hours of teaching.
“Just 10 hours left!” Kendra said brightly.
“That’s kind of perfect, if I’m being honest. We’ve been contacted by the Anaheim Ducks to run a conditioning class for a portion of the team. There are 20 players who’ve signed up, and the idea is that those who find it useful will sign up for more classes.”
“20 ice hockey players. My God. Will they take it seriously?”
She’d seen plenty of jocks in her 21 years and she knew exactly how much they goofed around when they didn’t care about things.
“Oh yeah, this is mandatory for these players and I’ll be evaluating them to send it back to their trainers. It’s serious – and it’s a big opportunity for the studio too.”
“Yeah definitely. And it’ll be good to see a different type of client for a change,” Kendra nodded.
“We love our yoga moms, don’t front,” James mused.
Kendra just grinned. She did love her beginner’s yoga mom class, he was right.
“It’ll be a big opportunity for you too, to work with them. If enough sign up, I’d like you to take on at least one for solo instruction the moment you have those 1000 hours done, to give you that experience. But if any of them give you any trouble, you let me know, okay? I won’t stand for it, regardless of who they are.”
“Thanks boss.”
“Any time.”
By the time 11am rolled around, Kendra was nervous. Not a bad nervous though, more like butterflies. She was so closed to her next stage of yoga teaching that she could almost taste it. She just hoped that this giant group of giant men would be a positive experience. They arrived in a herd, filling up the room quickly, and Kendra waited at the front of the room off to the side while her boss waited for them all to be ready.
“Alright, thanks for joining us today. I’m James Fields, owner and lead yoga instructor here, and this is Kendra Lee, who will be running this class alongside me,” he started.
She just grinned at the curious looks sent her way. Let them underestimate her, that was fine.
“As you all know, this class is mandatory and I will be evaluating you for your conditioning staff, so pay attention and we’ll all have a great time.”
Kendra watched a few disgruntled expressions popping up and fought not to laugh. Hockey players. She should’ve known they wouldn’t be any different. As her boss continued to talk, Kendra’s eyes drifted across the room, eventually landing on the man in front of her. Well, man was pushing it – this guy couldn’t be more than a couple of years older than her. A broad-shouldered redhead, pretty face, serious expression taking in her boss’s words. This one was paying attention. This one wanted to learn. Good. Even from here she could tell he would tower over her, although at 5ft2 that wasn’t really a difficult barrier. Maybe 6ft4? Maybe? Either way, this guy was going to be a good student, she could already tell.
As if he could sense his eyes on her, the man glanced over, catching her gaze. She froze, a little embarrassed to be caught staring, but he just smiled. Oh what a lovely smile that was. It was all she could do to smile back.
“If you’re all ready then, Kendra will lead you through Sun Salutation to warm up.”
She broke out of her thoughts, waving cheerfully at them all and earning a laugh. “I’ll be gentle, I promise,” she grinned.
~
“Yeah Freddie used to come to classes at my first studio, back in Anaheim about 10ish years ago. It’s been a while,” Kendra nodded, forcing a smile on her face.
Mimi raised an eyebrow but smiled politely at Freddie. “If you head on into Studio Two, Kendra will be right with you. I just need her to sign a form.”
He nodded, following the instructions with a smile sent Kendra’s way, leaving her alone with her colleague.
“Okay what the hell was that?” Mimi asked, wiggling her fingers in the direction Freddie went.
Kendra sighed, hands on hips.
“That was an old friend who I haven’t seen or spoken to in over 7 years. Him coming here out of the blue just threw me off, that’s all.”
“Is he going to be a problem? Because I have no issue with kicking him out if he doesn’t deserve a moment in your company,” Mimi said firmly.
It was times like this that Kendra really loved her friends.
“No, no it’ll be okay. There was no drama, we just drifted out of contact. Sure it sucked, but it was a long time ago? It’ll be fine. Besides, like you said, this is a big opportunity for me to do more with yoga rehab, right?”
Mimi pursed her lips but nodded. “Alright, if you’re sure. But let me know the second that you change your mind, if you need to.”
Kendra just gave her a quick hug, nudging her friend’s hip with her yoga mat, before heading resolutely towards Studio Two.
~
“So you enjoyed the last group class then?”
“I did. Anything to keep my flexibility up as good as it can get, right?”
Kendra just smiled, nodding. “Not that you seemed to have a problem with your flexibility.”
“Well I certainly haven’t had any complaints.”
He froze the moment the words left his lips, looking mortified. It was all she could do to burst into laughter at the horror on his face.
“I am so sorry. That was so unprofessional,” he groaned.
“Honestly, I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard since I’ve started here,” she said, still giggling, “You have nothing to worry about Mr Andersen.”
“Please, call me Freddie?” he asked, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly as his cheeks flamed red.
“Sure thing. Now let’s talk solo session scheduling – what works best for you?”
~
Kendra took a shaky breath as the memories of her first solo yoga session with Freddie washed over her, before steeling herself, pushing open the studio door. Freddie was sitting cross-legged in the middle of the floor on the mat he’d brought with him, and immediately smiled up at her, loosening a bit of tension in her chest. She could do this. She could totally do this.
“Hey, Freddie,” she said, unrolling her own mat.
“Hey Kendra. It’s good to see you,” he replied as she sat down opposite him.
“Good to see you too. I won’t say it isn’t a surprise because that would be a lie, but it is good to see you after all these years.”
Freddie winced a little, making her grimace inside. Was that too much?
“About that
”
He trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck, so Kendra quickly shook her head. Their past wasn’t what this was all about, and it would do neither of them any good to hash it up now.
“You’re here now,” she said firmly, “So, yoga rehab. Do you know much about what it entails or if there’s anything your team specifically wants?”
“Uh, I only know the basics really. Obviously I’ve done it a lot before for conditioning, which is what my trainer said this mostly will be as my injury was a blood clotting issue rather than muscles or joints?”
Blood clots. Damn. And for someone only in their 30s?
“That must’ve been really scary,” she murmured.
His eyes widened a little in surprise, but he nodded, smiling sadly. “I genuinely thought my career was over. I’ve been out for stretches of time before, but never for anything like this. I felt
helpless,” he admitted.
She could only guess he was being so vulnerable because of their history but she still appreciated his honesty. It can’t have been easy to admit such a thing.
“I can imagine you would, yeah. But the team are figuring it out, right? They wouldn’t be signing you up for yoga rehab if they didn’t have a plan in place?” Kendra said, trying to be positive.
“Yeah, yeah you’re right. They’ve tried a few things and they seem to be happy with the results anyway – they’re looking at about a month if all goes well,” Freddie nodded.
“That’s fantastic. I’m glad I’ll be able to help you get back to where you need to be. I’ll do a bunch of research after today, to make sure I’m not pushing you too hard, to make sure I’m doing the best I can for you,” Kendra said, smiling.
One month. One month with a rehabilitation she’d never come across before. This was the exact kind of challenge she wanted – and it would be with Freddie?
“I know you will, Kendra. I trust you completely. I just
”
He trailed off, chewing his bottom lip, his hesitation making her chest ache.
“What is it?” she prompted, trying to be gentle.
“I don’t want this to be it. I’m not ready for my career to be over. I still want, no, need to prove myself,” he said softly.
“Your talent and reputation precede you, Freddie. Everything that you’ve achieved with the Leafs and now with the Canes? How beloved you are by teammates and fans? You prove yourself, every day.”
“You’ve followed my career?” he asked, clearly surprised.
To be fair, she didn’t think she would’ve been able to keep following him after he left Anaheim, but it was Freddie.
“How could I not? We were friends,” she shrugged, trying to keep her voice light.
A wave of sadness washed over Freddie’s expression, making her heart clench in her chest, but before he could speak, Kendra cleared her throat.
“You’ve got this, Freddie Andersen. We’re going to get you back to where you need to be, and you’re going to kick metaphorical ass. Maybe even literal ass if you need to,” she said firmly.
Freddie managed a small smile, nodding.
“Let’s do this then.”
~
“Hey, Kendra. Thanks for today. I really enjoyed the session.”
She looked up at Freddie as she took her hair out of the twisted bun she put it in for working, letting her hair cascade down her back in blonde waves.
“You don’t have to thank me every time, you know,” she mused.
After that fateful first group class, Freddie has eagerly signed on for more conditioning classes at her studio, and her boss had happily signed him on as her first solo yoga client the moment she reached her 1000 hours milestone. It had been intimidating, if she was being honest, but she was thriving under her own steam, leading all on her own. It didn’t hurt that Freddie was a willing student, keen to increase his flexibility and core strength. And it didn’t hurt that he was absolutely gorgeous either – but that was just for her own thoughts.
“I want to thank you though. The team, management in particular, are really noticing the work I’ve put in as full-time backup, and that’s all down to you,” Freddie said with a shrug and a smile.
“Well in that case, gold star for me,” she grinned.
Freddie barked out a surprised laugh, making her giggle as she rolled up her mat.
“Did you, uh
do you have any more classes now?” he asked, awkward enough for her to pay attention.
“No, you were my last of the day. Why?”
“There’s a new smoothie bar that’s opened up down the road and I was going to go after this – if you want, come with me? I’d love to learn more about how you got into yoga instruction so young,” he said hopefully.
Kendra eyed him for a moment, trying to read any implications or anything untoward in his words. The last thing she wanted was to give off the wrong impression, especially in her first adult job, but Freddie just looked so genuine that she couldn’t help but to smile. A friend couldn’t hurt, right?
“I could go for a smoothie,” she said after a moment or two, nodding.
“Great! Um, I’ll shower, change, and meet you in the lobby?”
“Sounds like a plan,” she mused, “See you soon.”
Within no time at all, Kendra had changed into a cute little cropped lilac sweater and black jeans, leaving her hair down her back to dry in waves. She hadn’t packed any makeup with her, annoyingly, but Freddie saw her all the time without makeup so she guessed it didn’t really matter. Even if she would’ve preferred a dashing of mascara and a swipe of lipgloss. Maybe she’d have to leave a spare of each in her work bag, just in case any future hangouts after work happened.
If today’s smoothie run wasn’t awkward, of course. Damn she hoped it wouldn’t be awkward.
“Ready to go?”
“Let’s do this!” Kendra said cheerfully.
Freddie just smiled down at her, easily towering over her 5ft2 frame with his 6ft4 one – yes she’d looked up his height to be certain, she was curious – opening up the door for her to walk through first.
“Such a gentleman,” she teased.
“I aim to please,” he drawled.
Kendra snorted, immediately covering her face in embarrassment, but Freddie grinned like a cat who got the cream.
“Cute snort,” he smirked.
“Ass,” she shot back, sticking out her tongue to let him know she wasn’t actually mad.
Freddie just laughed, a clear beautiful sound that sent butterflies in her stomach going overdrive. No, this was not the time. Be a professional. Don’t be a giggly idiot. Damn it.
The walk to the smoothie bar couldn’t have taken more than 5 minutes, the two of them staying in a comfortable silence – something that Kendra found difficult with people she’d known for years, so for her to feel such at ease with someone she barely knew? It was strange. Nice, but strange.
“Okay, what’ll it be?” he asked, looking up at the board, “My treat.”
“Are you sure?” she frowned.
Sure, this was her first job and she’d only been in it a couple of months, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t pay her way.
“Absolutely sure. I insist,” Freddie said firmly.
The intensity in his eyes, warm but solid, made her inhale sharply and nod. If he insisted

“I’ll have almond milk, pineapple, kale, and mango, with a dash of honey. Thanks, Freddie,” she said, smiling up at him.
He just smiled back down at her, sending those butterflies into overdrive again, stepping forward to repeat her order as well as giving his own. When their smoothies arrived, Freddie walked over to a table in the corner so she followed, sitting down with a happy sigh.
“Oh man that’s good. Thanks for inviting me out,” Kendra said, after taking a sip of her smoothie.
“You’re welcome. It’s nice to actually meet someone near my age that as interested in yoga as I am,” Freddie said simply.
“Yeah? Not too many friends or girlfriends wanting to join you?” she asked, somehow managing to stop herself cringing to hard at the wording of her question.
Freddie just smirked slightly but didn’t call her out, thankfully. “No friends who want to do yoga with me, no. Most the team only do yoga when they absolutely have to. And no girlfriend either.”
“That’s a shame,” she said lightly, ignoring the zing through her body, “Yoga is fun and a great stress-reliever.”
“Is that why you got into it then?”
Kendra relaxed back into her seat, taking another sip of her drink, before starting to talk. Over the next hour, the two of them exchanged life stories, getting to know each other properly. Freddie talked about his career so far in the Danish league, how different and difficult it was to move over to Anaheim in August, how he’s just trying to make his mark now he’s been with down with the AHL team most the season and only up for a week. In turn, Kendra talked about how she’d always lived in California, having moved from her hometown in Santa Monica to Anaheim after meeting her now-boss at a training course, how she’d seen her mom doing yoga with her friends and fallen in love with the flow and peacefulness of it as well as the strength it gave. Talking to Freddie felt like they’d been friends for all her life, something she’d never experienced before, and she could only hope this wasn’t the last time they got to do this. Freddie was special, that was clear as day, and she felt lucky to see this relaxed side of him that she doubted many were privy to.
Eventually though, once their smoothies were finished, they had to leave before they overstayed their welcome, and Freddie walked her back to her car.
“I’m perfectly capable of walking across the parking lot on my own, you know,” she mused, jerking her chin in the direction of his car, all the way on the other side.
“And if some weirdo stalks you to your car when I can prevent that, I’d rather avoid you being alone,” he shrugged.
“Aww are you my knight in shining armour, Mr Andersen?” she teased.
Interestingly, his cheeks dusted with a blush.
“I’ll sweep you off your feet any time you need, Miss Lee,” he smirked.
Kendra just burst out laughing, shaking her head at his banter flirting. Ridiculous guy. This was going to be a fun friendship, she could already tell.
“Give me your number? We can sort out another smoothie run,” Freddie said, smiling.
She ignored those traitorous butterflies and nodded, unlocking her phone and handing it over. It could only be a good thing to have more friends in Anaheim, right?
“You think you can handle seeing me outside of the yoga studio?” she mused.
“Oh I know I can.”
~
Kendra and Freddie settled on three yoga sessions a week for his rehabilitation, 12 in total, to give him the conditioning build up he needed while still taking care to manage his recovery. She’d spent all night after that first meeting researching and planning the best course of movements and flows for him, making it challenging but helpful, eventually dragging herself back to bed at 4am, satisfied that what she’d planned would help him.
With any client, she would want to make sure she was satisfied, but with Freddie? She needed it to. Even after everything, she didn’t want to let him down.
Their first two sessions went well, the first mostly easing Freddie back into the swing of things, assessing where his strengths and weaknesses were, and the second session left Freddie groaning but smiling, happy he was able to push himself. Their third session, which Kendra was preparing for, would be another mild push, nothing extreme but still to see where she would need to adjust any plans.
It was all a process, but one she was enjoying immensely. Not just because of her student.
“Knock knock.”
Kendra jolted out of her thoughts, hand on her heart as Freddie walked into the studio with a grin.
“You are the worst,” she groaned.
“So you don’t want the smoothie I picked up on the way?” he mused.
He brought her a smoothie?
Her lips parted in surprise, but she stuck her hand out anyway, Freddie just laughing as he passed it over. The moment she took a sip, a wave of nostalgia ran over her. All she could think about were the smoothie runs and coffees hangouts and even the occasional lunch they used to go to together. Two and a half years of memories all flooding through her system, and it was all she could do to keep her face calm and neutral as the memories of conversations and vulnerability and laughter swirled through her thoughts. This wasn’t fair. This really wasn’t fair. She wanted to be mad at him for daring to dive back into their past like him leaving meant nothing, but how could she? How could she be mad when those memories still brought her joy?
“Almond milk, pineapple, kale, and mango, with a dash of honey. My favourite. Maybe you’re not the worst. You really remembered this?”
“Of course I did. I loved our smoothie dates,” Freddie nodded, smiling.
Dates?
“Dates?” she said, raising an eyebrow.
“Figure of speech? I don’t speak English?” he offered.
“Yeah nice try, I’m pretty sure your English is better than most people I know,” Kendra mused.
Freddie blushed but laughed.
“How could I forget anything about the girl who got me doing the best Bridge pose of my life, hm?”
She tried valiantly not to think about how good Freddie looked bent over in a backwards arch. Valiantly.
“Alright, but don’t think this means I’ll go easy on you, Freddie,” she said brightly, “We’ve still got a lot of work to do.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it,” he grinned, “Give it to me rough.”
Kendra took a moment, trying to hold in her laughter, before she gave in and cackled.
“Oh man that was so bad, even for you,” she grinned.
“Not my finest, I’ll give you that,” Freddie shrugged, a light blush on his cheeks, “Still made you laugh though.”
Well he wasn’t wrong there.
Kendra sipped on her drink while Freddie laid out his mat, leaving the cup in a safe spot as she moved to stand in front of him.
“As always, let’s start with Sun Salutation,” she grinned.
The next hour flew by. As she promised him, Kendra did push him hard – some of the poses he wasn’t quite ready for, she could see that, at least even for the length of time they were trialling today. His natural flexibility hadn’t left him, that much was obvious, but there was still work to do. At least she could take pride in being part of rehabilitation that would never push him further than he was ready for. His safety, physical and mental, was the most important thing.
But he could do this. She knew that he could do this, and that excited her.
“Alright, that’s us done for today. Thanks, Freddie,” Kendra said softly.
Freddie opened his eyes, practically floating from savasana, face flushed from exertion.
“Thank you, Kendra. I feel awesome. Tired but awesome,” he grinned.
“Not aching too much anywhere?” she asked, standing up gracefully.
Freddie groaned as he stood up, rolling his shoulders as he checked in with himself. Kendra smiled wryly at the action – at least she could trust an athlete to know his own body.
“No, not too much,” he said.
“Are you sure?” she frowned, hands on hips.
“I promise. I know the difference between aching from a good workout to aching from injury and pain. This is good,” Freddie insisted.
Well alrighty then.
“That’s what I like to hear,” Kendra said happily, rolling her neck from side to side to loosen tension, “Take a shower, Andersen, I can smell you from here.”
Freddie barked out a laugh, shaking his head in amusement.
“Care to join me?”
“In your dreams.”
Freddie just smirked, sending a shiver down her spine. There. That was it, the spark she’d been missing for so many years.
“See you on Wednesday?”
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Freddie nodded.

“So today’s your last official yoga rehab session with Freddie. How are you feeling?”
“Yeah, it’s all gone really well. It’s been nice reconnecting with him, as well as seeing him grow back into his conditioning and confidence. You were right, Mimi, this was a great idea,” Kendra grinned.
Mimi and Celeste both smiled at her, but the smiles quickly turned hesitant. What? What was wrong?
“Has he said something? Have the Canes said something?” she asked, starting to worry.
Had she done something wrong and he hadn’t had the guts to tell her?
“No, no, god no. Freddie’s had nothing but high praise for you since he got here and I have no doubt he’ll be saying the same to his team,” Celeste said quickly.
“He talks about me?” Kendra asked, not knowing whether to ignore the butterflies in her stomach or not.
“He does. And he always has a smile on his face when he leaves here, same as you. We just
”
“Just what?” she prompted.
“We just want you to be careful,” Celeste said, finishing her sister’s sentence.
 What the hell?
Mimi winced at Kendra's expression before clearing her throat.
“When I met you, it was obvious that part of you was missing,” Mimi said softly, Celeste nodding.
What?
“What do you mean?” Kendra frowned.
“This fun flirty side of you? These beaming smiles? It’s great, don’t get me wrong, but seeing you around Freddie makes so much sense,” Mimi explained.
Okay that was crazy.
“We really are just friends,” Kendra said, shaking her head.
Mimi and Celeste send her matching disbelieving looks.
“No, really,” Kendra said, shrugging, “We always had this flirty banter but it was never anything more than that.”
“Never anything more?” Celeste said, raising an eyebrow, “Not even once?”
“No!” Kendra laughed, “He would come to my yoga classes, we’d get coffee or smoothies occasionally, sometimes lunch, but never anything more.”
“I really don’t think you see what we see. What no doubt everyone sees when they watch the two of you,” Mimi said.
“You can’t fake that kind of chemistry, Kendra. He clearly has feelings for you,” Celeste added.
What?
He had feelings for her?
And everyone saw it?
Mimi and Celeste watched her obvious turmoil with soft pitying smiles.
“Think about it. Just think about it. That’s all we’re saying,” Mimi said, her voice warm and reassuring, “And be careful?”
“You’re our girl, okay? We just want you to be happy,” Celeste said, smiling.
“Uh yeah, sure. I’ll think about it,” Kendra murmured.
It was all she could do to walk in a straight line for their staff kitchen, desperately needing a cold bottle of water to sip on while she sorted through her thoughts.
She’d always found Freddie attractive. That was something she could admit to without hesitation. But it was something she’d buried deep, knowing she could never act on it. Bringing that acknowledgement back up to the surface was terrifying, because it wasn’t just a physical attraction – it was everything about him. If she let herself think about how attracted she was to him, let herself think about his laugh, and his kindness, and his terrible taste in coffee, and his soft smile when he talked about his family, and literally everything else about him
she felt like she would explode.
How was she supposed to behave normally around him in their last scheduled yoga session, when all of these dangerous feelings were bubbling at the surface?
No, she had to find a way. She couldn’t ruin everything, not when she’d just got him back into her life. She just couldn’t.
Somehow, she managed to keep a lid on her emotions for her entire day until Freddie’s session at the end of her evening, running through the most challenging routines that pushed him to his limit, but left him with a smile on his face. He was ready. He was really ready for his return to play in two days time.
So why did it feel like everything was ending?
Freddie had stayed mostly quiet, focusing on his movements, but there were times in between flows that she caught him staring at her as if he was thinking. Thinking hard. It was almost off-putting, if it didn’t make her feel giddy. Were her friends right? Were her feelings really reciprocated?
Whatever was going through his mind, she didn’t know, but even she could feel a trembling intensity between the two of them that she couldn’t put a finger on. It felt like
anticipation.
When their class was over, Freddie insisted on waiting for her to grab all of her things, Mimi and Celeste just smirking as he waved goodbye to them, escorting her out to her car. This time he apparently hadn’t parked that far away from her, so he was insistent on walking her properly, although it could definitely be classed as more of an extremely slow stroll rather than a walk.
Like he was drawing this out as much as she was.
“You must be freezing,” Freddie murmured, “Here take my jacket.”
Before Kendra could form a word of protest at his sudden words, Freddie was slipping his jacket off and placing it over her shoulders. The warmth immediately hit her body, thrumming through her veins, and she knew without a doubt that her burning cheeks gave her thoughts away.
“There. Better?”
It was all Kendra could do to nod, staying silent as Freddie made a grunt of approval. Why was this affecting her so much? It was a just a jacket. It was just a jacket, right? It didn’t stop her sinking into the warmth though, picking up the scent of his cologne, ignoring the way her heart started beating that little bit faster.
She had to say something. She had to say something.
“Freddie
I need to ask you a question,” she said softly.
“Go for it,” he mused.
“Did you know it was me when you agreed to do a yoga rehab course?”
“What?”
Kendra exhaled a little shakily, but shook her head. She needed to know.
“When your team suggested yoga classes as part of your rehab treatment plan, how did you pick a teacher? Did you know I would be running this for you?”
“Ah.”
A single word. How ominous.
But Kendra just stayed silent, unwilling to say anything else before he did. She needed to know. It would change everything.
“The team gave me a list of options, with short descriptions about the teacher and any feedback from other clients. And
the moment I saw your name on the list, I didn’t have to think any further or look at anyone else,” he murmured.
“What?”
Freddie let out a shaky breath, halting his walk, so Kendra stopped next to him. What did he mean by that?
“I took it as a sign from the universe that I finally had a chance to make up for letting our friendship fizzle out. You were one of the best parts about Anaheim for me, and I was so wrapped up in my head in Toronto that I was stupid enough to let our friendship go. To let you go. I wanted to see you again. I knew that you would be amazing from the yoga side of things, but to get the chance to say that I’m sorry? I couldn’t pass that up.”
As he spoke, his words clear and his expression more serious than she’d ever seen, her heart started racing like it never had before. He really meant all of that, didn’t he? He really chose her?
“You have nothing to apologise for,” she eventually said, a little more breathless than she would care to admit.
“Yes, I do,” Freddie replied, huffing out a laugh, “You deserved better than I treated you.”
He looked relieved, like her being mad at him was even a possibility (not with them, never with him), but she just shook her head. Yeah, it had hurt at the time, when she finally resigned to losing contact with him – but that was over 7 years ago. With time, that hurt had faded into an ache, which in turn faded to occasional wistfulness. She could never hold a grudge against him for a trade, and certainly not for following his dream. That just wasn’t who Kendra was.
She started walking again, Freddie wasting no time in joining her, even though their steps were practically glacial in speed.
“Maybe I deserved a little better communication but it was so long ago, Freddie. I’m not holding onto past grudges. And honestly, the fact that you chose me because you wanted to reconnect? That’s all I needed.”
“Really?” he asked, voice hopeful.
“Really really,” she grinned, “Although I’m sure you can think of something to make it up to me.”
A grin spread across Freddie’s face too, making her feel a little giddy.
“Anything you wanted, Kendra Lee.”
“That is a dangerous offer, Frederik Andersen,” she shot back.
He just shrugged, grin not leaving his face. “You know I’m good for it.”
This, these flirty exchanges, served to do nothing other than light her blood on fire. Why was it always so easy to slip back into this with him like nothing had changed? That was a good thing, right?
“Come out with me on St Patrick’s Day night,” she blurted.
He raised an eyebrow, looking unimpressed, but she just laughed.
“I’m going to a karaoke bar with Mimi and Celeste – join us,” she explained.
“That’s what you want? Out of all the things you could’ve asked for
you want me to join you for karaoke,” he said incredulously.
Kendra inhaled sharply at the implication in his words but nodded anyway, hoping she wasn’t making a huge mistake.
“I do. It’ll be fun, to see you outside of work, and to do something with you that we’ve never done before. We already have a little booth booked and it’ll be better than cramming into a regular bar for St Patrick’s Day,” she said firmly.
He laughed softly, shaking his head in disbelief, before eventually nodding.
“Alright, I’ll be there. Text me the address,” he mused.
Kendra just grinned, ignoring the butterflies in her stomach as they finally reached her car.
“Thanks for lending me your jacket, Freddie.”
“Any time.”
~
By the time the evening of the 17th March rolled around, Kendra was buzzing. She'd not seen Freddie since his debut back on the ice, him having given the three of them tickets to say thank you. Watching him win? It was everything, and she couldn't have been prouder of him. But with his schedule and hers, he hadn't scheduled any more classes like he'd said he'd wanted to, so Kendra had been limited to text messages, hoping that her daydreams weren't just silly fantasies.
Kendra, Mimi, and Celeste had been in O'Malley's for an hour, and Freddie still hadn’t arrived. The longer that time went on, the more disappointed she felt, not wanting to believe that after everything they’d regrown between them that he would just ghost her. No, that wasn’t Freddie. It couldn’t be Freddie.
“Breathe. Have a drink. He promised he’d be here, right?” Celeste said with a sweet smile.
“He did. But that doesn’t mean he couldn’t have changed his mind,” Kendra sighed.
“Hey, no sad faces. It’s St Patrick’s Day and we’re having a good time!” Mimi said cheerfully.
Kendra just groaned, taking a big gulp of her beer, her friends just cheering. They were right. She couldn’t dwell on this. If Freddie was going to come or whether he wasn’t, she was still out with her friends to have a good time. That was what she needed to focus on.
“Up next, Kendra singing Red!”
“Ooh girl that’s you, go!” Mimi squealed.
Kendra took a deep breath to steel herself, sliding out of their booth with a confident smile. If anyone could make her feel better, it would be Taylor Swift, she knew that much. As the intro music starting playing, she focused on letting it flow through her, tapping her foot in time with the beat.
“Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street, Faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly, Loving him is like trying to change your mind, Once you're already flying through the free fall, Like the colors in autumn, so bright, just before they lose it all.”
As if summoned by magic, the door to the pub opened, and Freddie walked in. Within seconds he saw her standing on the karaoke stage and stopped in his tracks, offering her a small stunned smile. He came. He didn’t ghost her. Freddie actually came as she asked him. That had to mean something, right?
“Remembering him comes in flashbacks and echoes, Tell myself it's time now gotta let go, But moving on from him is impossible, When I still see it all in my head, In burning red, Burning, it was red.”
She found herself pouring her emotions into the words, pouring everything she felt about Freddie into the song, not able to take her eyes off him. By now, Mimi and Celeste had noticed how she was performing just for Freddie – she could see their grins from across the room – and a few other patrons were starting to notice too. But she couldn’t stop herself. Her body felt almost out of control, singing her heart out to the only man who’d ever truly held it.
“Oh, losing him was blue, like I'd never known, Missing him was dark gray, all alone, Forgetting him was like trying to know, Somebody you never met, 'Cause loving him was red, Yeah, yeah, red, Burning red.”
His eyes were almost wild, locked onto her like she was the only person in the room. It was a heady feeling, giving her the confidence she needed to finish the song with a smile.
“And that's why he's spinning 'round in my head, Comes back to me, burning red, Yeah, yeah.”
She curtseyed dramatically to cheers and applause as the song ended, a wide grin on her face, and she moved to step off the stage, Freddie was already there with a hand extended to help her down. She took it silently, inhaling sharply as Freddie didn’t let go – instead her guided her across the room to the bar, the crowd parting with whatever intensity was on his face, so much so that they were served immediately.
“Two baby guinnesses,” Freddie asked politely.
The barman just laughed, nodding as he poured the shots, Freddie not letting go of her hand even as he paid for their drinks. He passed her one of the shots with a hopeful smile, the sweetness in his eyes intoxicating, so she clinked the glass gently with his, the cool liquid sliding down her throat smoothly.
“I wasn’t sure if you would make it,” Kendra said, offering him a small smile.
“I was thinking. Thinking about a lot of things. And I have something I need to say,” Freddie murmured, voice barely audible above the rumble of the room’s conversation.
“Oh?” she said, breath caught in her throat.
“I need to be honest with you, Kendra. I don’t think I can do any more classes with you.”
Oh. Everything in her chest felt like it was crumbling, Kendra barely able to get a breath in.
Wait, what?
“It would be incredible unprofessional of me,” Freddie added.
“Unprofessional? Freddie, if I’ve done something-”
The last thing Kendra was expecting was for Freddie to cut off her words with a kiss.
And not just any kiss. A toe-curling, melt into his arms, curl her fingers into his shirt kind of kiss. As his hands cupped her face and his lips moved with hers, it was all she could do to let out a soft little moan, interrupted only at the chorus of cheers and whistles around them. Freddie broke the kiss with a soft laugh, Kendra just feeling dazed, but his shy smile just made her giddy all over again.
“I’ve wanted to kiss you for so long. I just didn’t think I could,” he admitted, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
They were right. Mimi and Kendra were right.
“What changed?” she managed to ask.
“We changed,” he said. “We’ve both grown so much in ourselves since I left Anaheim and I am proud of both of us for taking what we need to make ourselves happy and successful. But I don’t want to lie to myself any more, thinking that I don’t need you too.”
“You need me?” she said, surprised.
“I do, in every way. I was an idiot for so many years, Kendra. I don’t want to waste any more time,” he said seriously.
“Jesus, Freddie, knock a girl for six why don’t you,” she said, huffing out a laugh.
He froze at her words, clearly fearing the worst, but Kendra just grinned. How could she be anything but excited?
“I’m yours, Freddie Andersen. I always have been,” she said happily.
The smile that spread across his face was worth a thousand lifetimes. This was what she had been waiting for. Exactly this.
“Now, buy me another drink and sing a song with me, and I’ll consider kissing you again,” Kendra grinned.
He laughed in disbelief but grinned so widely in response that it made her giddy. “One blue moon pale ale, coming right up.”
Her favourite girls night drink? How did he remember everything she’d ever said?  They were really doing this. They were finally doing this.
“You’re going to be trouble, aren’t you?” she laughed.
“Probably. You love it though.”
That she did.

I don't know why I ditched school with Layla. I never really left school unless I was sick or when Chris and Nick needed a ride home. I knew that I would be fine if I skipped a couple classes, my grades were good enough for me to miss a full month and I would still pass but I tried to stay above average.
As I drove us back to school, my mind wandered to when she put her earring on my lip. It made me realise how gentle she was, the way she grabbed my chin to turn my head and pulled my lip down to delicately place the ring on my lip made my mind fuzzy. She always seemed like she was tough and rough around the edges. The way she carried herself around school as if she didn't care about anyone or anything was a deep contrast to who she was in that moment of softness. I let my mind travel away as I parked in my usual spot at school, sliding my seatbelt off before I turned the car off.
I turned to face her, seeing her pick her bag up from the ground and going to open the door before I interrupted her movements, "Hey."
She turned to face me, letting go of the door handle as she looked at me expectantly, "What?"
"Do you wanna sit with me at lunch? I know you don't really go to the cafeteria but it's better than wandering around the school alone," I offered, praying in my head that she would agree.
"I don't think your friends will want me there," she mumbled, not making eye contact with me as she looked out at the school.
"Doesn't matter what they want. I want you to sit with us," I smiled at her, hoping it would convince her further. I knew my friends would be confused but I hoped I could convince them by showing them she was just like everyone else in the school and she wasn't some monster our peers had made her out to be.
"I don't know..." she trailed off, biting her lip which I picked up was a nervous habit. She had done it so many times in the short amount of time that I had been talking to her and I tried to not make it obvious that I was staring at her lips, coughing before sitting upright.
"Come on, it will be fine," I smiled once again before I jumped out of the car. I made sure my phone was in my pocket as I hopped out of the car, grabbed my backpack from the backseat and waited for her to close her door before I locked it.
We started walking into the school as she trailed behind me. She was mindlessly following me as she looked at her phone. I swung the door open, stepping aside to let her walk in before me. She sent me a half-hearted smile as a thank you making my chest swell with warmth.
I liked seeing her smile and knowing that I'd only seen her smile when she was around me made me proud in a way. I couldn't explain why but I felt myself pull towards her every time I saw her in the hallway. It had taken me a while to figure out if it was a good idea or not to talk to her, but I'd now decided that I was going to keep talking to her until she was sick of me.
I made my way to the cafeteria, noting that the clock on the wall read that lunch had already been happening for about 5 minutes. Her walking slowed and I turned to face her, slowing my pace to match hers.
"You don't have to stay for the whole lunch. Just come say hi to everyone at least," I offered her another smile and she chewed at her lip making me glance at them again, "Please."
"No need to grovel, pretty boy. I'll go," she rolled her eyes, her hard demeanour returning now that we were on school grounds. I smiled wider at the nickname she had given me and I was glad to know it stuck. After putting my backpack in my locker, we walked towards the cafeteria again.
We walked through the doors to the large cafeteria, eyes turning to look at the both of us. I ignored them as I walked through the tables, making a B-line to where my friends sat as Layla travelled behind me.
"Hey," I nodded to my brothers, sitting down beside Nick as they glanced over my shoulder at Layla making me turn towards her. I patted the seat beside me, letting her know she could sit down. She slowly sat down next to me and I could feel how tense she was by her body language, "Nick, Chris, Nate, Allie, this is Layla."
"Hi," Layla mumbled from beside me and I hoped that my friends could pull themselves together and at least pretend to be nice until they got to know her properly.
"Hey," Allie smiled at her politely as Nick and Nate both gave her a small wave. Chris nodded at her, his face showing his distaste for her being here making me run my tongue along my teeth. Chris looked at me and I made a face to tell him to be nice.
"What the fuck is on your lip?" Nick asked and I rang my tongue over the ring that was on my lip.
"It's fake. Just trying it out," I shrugged and Nick looked at me in confusion but I brushed it off.
"You getting any food?" Nate asked me and I shook my head as I watched him snack on the small tray of food he had in front of him.
"What are you doing here?" I heard a familiar voice speak and I looked to my right to see Mia staring down at Layla with confusion.
"Mia," I deadpanned and she glanced at me with a shrug of her shoulders, her cheerleading uniform riding up slightly as she did so.
"I'm just asking. She never even comes into the cafeteria and now she's sitting where I always sit," she stated in a bitchy tone making me frown at her.
"You can manage not sitting next to me for one day, Mia," I told her and she pursed her lips, a frown covering her face as she sat herself in between Layla and Allie.
"So why are you sitting here?" Mia asked Layla, her tone still bitchy as ever making me roll my eyes.
"Matt asked me to sit with you guys," Layla answered honestly, her tone not wavering in the slightest.
"Why?" Mia retorted as she opened the protein bar I didn't even notice she had.
"Because I wanted her to," I responded to Mia, my tone sharp to try and get her to stop. She was my biggest worry when I offered Layla to sit with us but I didn't realise she'd be so dramatic about it.
"Why didn't you get any food, Matty?" Mia asked me, now leaning over the table a little and completely ignoring Layla.
"I just ate," I answered honestly and I felt Layla's shoulder brush mine as she wriggled in her seat to get further away from Mia.
"What?" Nick asked now and I turned my head to face him.
I shrugged before replying, "We got McDonald's."
"And you didn't get anything for me?" Allie gasped dramatically making me smile at her as I shook my head.
"You skipped? For McDonald's with her?" my attention was brought back to Mia's bitter tone as she made a face of slight disgust.
"No I skipped because I wanted McDonald's and I asked her to come with me," I kept my tone flat to give her the hint that I was not impressed but she didn't seem to catch it.
"Why didn't you ask me?" Mia pouted and I shrugged, playing with the rings on my fingers.
"You were already in class," I told her and she rolled her eyes before I continued, "Besides, you never skip."
"What class do you have after this?" Allie asked Layla and I was thankful she diverted the conversation politely.
"Art and gym," Layla answered honestly and Allie's smile widened.
"You're in my gym class, right? Mr Rodes?" Allie asked and Layla nodded in response, "You should group up with me in class!"
"Uh, okay," Layla answered, confusion in her tone. I figured it was because she expected Allie to be a bitch, her cheerleading uniform and perfect red hair giving everyone the impression she was like Mia. Allie was one of the nicest people in school, she was down to talk to anybody and it's one of the reasons I was excited for Layla to sit with us.
"You always pair with me," Mia mumbled to Allie as she flipped her brown hair over her shoulder and Allie shrugged in response.
"You can go with Melissa? She always wants to go with you," Allie gave her a solution before digging back into her salad. Mia seemed more irritated than before and I hoped she would save it till Layla wasn't sitting with us. Unfortunately, I was wrong.
"She's here for like two seconds and fucks everything up," Mia mumbled under her breath as she bit into her protein bar.
"If you're gonna shit talk me while I'm sitting right next to you at least say it with your chest, Mia," Layla deadpanned to Mia and she seemed taken aback as she just stared at the bleached blonde girl sitting next to me.
"You're gonna let her talk to me like that?" Mia asked as she glanced at me and I raised my eyebrows.
"He's not your father. You can stand up for yourself," Layla spoke clearly and I pursed my lips, resisting the urge to smile as Mia looked in shock. Almost no one pushed back with Mia, we all knew she would blow up and just make things worse than they needed to be. But I enjoyed seeing Layla stand up to her, it proved to me that she wasn't scared of anyone, she just didn't care to talk to them.
"This is bullshit," Mia huffed as she crossed her arms and Layla raised her eyebrows in response. I looked over at Chris who was hiding his smile behind his sandwich and Nick who coughed in order to cover his laugh.
"Right well, I'm gonna go. I'll see you in gym Allie," Layla picked up her bag and stepped over the bench as she adjusted her hoodie. I realised she left her leather jacket in my car but decided I wouldn't tell her yet so I had an excuse to see her later.
"Where are you going?" I asked as she turned back to face me. Instead of speaking, she made a motion with her hand like she was smoking an imaginary cigarette as she walked backwards slowly with her eyebrows raised. I smiled at her while shaking my head and I watched as she spun around, walking out of the doors of the cafeteria.
"What was that about?" Nick asked as I turned around to face the group who were now looking at me expectantly.
"What?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowing as I ran my tongue over the ring on my lip, pursing my lips to hide my smile.
"You said you weren't gonna talk to her anymore," Chris deadpanned and I shrugged, grabbing Nick's water and taking a sip before he ripped it out of my hands.
"I changed my mind," I lied, knowing I never actually intended to stop talking to her in the first place.
"She's bad news. You shouldn't be hanging around her unless you wanna end up being a junkie," Mia mumbled and all joy from my face dropped as I turned to look at her with a glare.
"Mia, can you shut up for once?" I spat and she frowned, her mouth hanging open and Nate raised his eyebrows, his mouth in a downturned smile of surprise before he and Allie looked at each other briefly.
"You hang out with her for one day and you're already a dick. You just proved my point," Mia looked at me with a cocky smile and I rolled my eyes.
"You guys are so fucking annoying," I sighed, running a hand over my face as my mind flashed the moment she grabbed my lip to put the ring in my lip, "The only reason she was rude to you is because you were being a bitch about her sitting here and then not pairing up with Allie in gym. It's not that big of a deal."
"I mean... I've heard a lot of shit about her man," Nate piped up as he raised his eyebrows at me and I shook my head.
"Who cares? She's not this psycho everyone pretends she is," I defended her and Nate just shrugged, on the fence on whether or not he thought it was a good idea for me to be talking to her, "You guys just have to give her a chance."
"I don't have to do anything," Mia mumbled, her irritated tone making me grind my teeth together to keep my cool.
"If you wanna continue being my friend, Mia, you're gonna have to figure out why you're such a bitch to her," I huffed and Allie's eyes widened and before I could say anything further, the bell for our next class rang through my ears. I got up from the table without another word and made my way to my locker, playing with the ring on my lip that was quickly becoming a habit.
+++
My last two classes were spent trying to focus but instead, my brain wandered to Layla, hoping that Mia didn't scare her away from me. I leaned against the driver's side of my car, Nick and Chris talking about something as they walked over to me.
"Why aren't you in the car?" Chris asked, noting the fact that I usually waited for them in the driver's seat.
"Layla left her jacket. Gotta give it back to her," I told him honestly and he rolled his eyes as he jumped into the passenger seat. I was sure he was sick of me talking about her, I'd been building up the courage to talk to her for weeks and I constantly talked Chris's ear off about it. He always told me it was a bad idea and I, of course, never listened.
Nick slid in the back seat, shutting the door behind him and I felt the window behind me roll down. I turned around to see Chris holding her leather jacket out to me through the window and I gave him a small smile with a nod. He raised his eyebrows briefly as I took the jacket from him and he started rolling the window up.
"Just don't take forever. We gotta get our shit for training," Chris called out before the window was full rolled up. I turned back around as I hung the jacket over my left arm, pulling my phone out of my pocket to quickly check the time.
"I believe you have something of mine," Layla's voice rang through my ears and my head snapped up to see her standing in front of me, an amused look on her face. I stared at her for a moment, noticing that she was wearing her shorts from gym still and I could see a few more of her tattoos on her thighs before she spoke again, "You gonna give it to me or am I fighting you for it?"
"Oh right. My bad," I shook my head as I slipped my phone back into my pocket and handed her the jacket. I slid the ring off of my lip, wiping it with the hem of my shirt and I couldn't help but notice her eyes glance at the tattoos along my waist.
"Gonna miss that super cool lip ring," she said sarcastically as I chuckled, handing her the ring as her fingers brushed against mine. Her skin felt so much more soft than mine, it raised goosebumps along my arms.
"Give me another month and you won't have to miss it anymore," I smirked at her and I noticed her eyes lit up slightly as a smile tugged at the corner of her mouth.
"You're gonna get it?" she asked, her voice full of hope as she slid her bag off of her shoulder and slipped her jacket on before grabbing her bag again.
I shrugged, leaning back against the car again, "Probably. Under one condition."
"What?" she asked sceptically, her eyes squinting at me and I smiled.
"Come to my last three games this season," I stated and she tilted her head as she looked out into the parking lot in thought.
"I won't have a way to get there," she retorted and with a raise of my eyebrows, I pointed to the car behind me before pointing to myself, "I don't know what to wear to your games."
With a shrug, I said, "Just wear whatever you're comfortable in."
"What day are your games on?" she asked sceptically before she bit her lip and I tore my eyes away from her mouth and back up to her eyes.
"Fridays at five," I told her and she sighed, shaking her head.
"I don't know..." she trailed off and I bit my lip to hide my smile.
I sighed dramatically as I pushed off of the car, "Guess I won't be getting my lip pierced any time soon."
"Oh for fucks sake. Fine," she huffed and I smiled at her, crossing my arms over my chest.
"I'll have to pick you up around four because we need to be there early to warm up but you can wait in the car if you don't wanna come inside," I explained and she nodded, goosebumps covering the skin on her legs from the cold air, "You need a ride home?"
"We don't have time for that. Hurry the fuck up!" Chris called from inside the car and I held up a middle finger behind me to flip him off.
"Nah, I'll be good," she gave me a half smile and I nodded as she started to walk backwards, "I'll see you when I'm looking at you."
With that she spun around and started walking out of the car park, leaving me with a triumphant smile on my face. I hopped in the car to see Nick and Chris staring at me with a judgemental look on their face.
"What?" I asked with a smile but they both stayed silent as I started the car, driving back to our house to grab mine and Chris's gear for training.

Atlas "Sentinel" Osmerova backstory and headcanons
So I finally decided to give my OC a background story, which is kinda complicated so I'm just going to put the big lines here. There is also some headcanons on how she interacts with the rest of Shadow Co. and her personal life.
Background:
she was born in Vladivostok and has two older brothers who were already in the military when she was born.
her mother was very absent and uninvolved in her education.
her dad raised her in a military-like style because he didn't want a daughter.
when she was in 5th grade she got into a navy cadet class (cadet classes are a thing that lasts the child's whole education in Russia).
in 8th grade she was noticed as an excellent student and offered a transfer to an elite military school in Moscow, which she accepted.
she started coding at 6 and was fascinated by the dark web and more specifically the classified info that can be found there.
at 16 she knocked on the door of the FSB with a file that contained classified info from the Russian government and asked them to hire her because she was bored at school and knew she could do more.
they refused but offered her a position as soon as she graduated.
she was given a cyber-security degree from Moscow State University without ever going to university to make her employment look more legit.
she actually spent a year doing missions with the Spetsnaz as a form of field training. Afterward, most of her duties were centered around the FSB headquarters especially when she started rising in rank.
she got annoyed with the political bullshit and how it limited her range and freedom of action and left at 21yo.
she offered her services as an intelligence contractor on the dark web and met graves when he hired her for a job.
he hired her once, was impressed by her work and how she made sure the whole thing stayed quiet and hired her a second and then third time. Ultimately, he thought it would be a good idea to develop Shadow Co.'s intelligence by creating a designated department and offered her a leading position as it was safer than hiring someone he had never worked with.
Personal life and relationship with the rest of Shadow Company:
she has no contact with her family whatsoever and does not wish to contact them.
she functions solely on RedBull and spite.
she has a schizoid personality disorder and therefore does not have a very close relationship with the rest of shadow co., she is relatively close with 7-11 though and they banter daily.
even though she might seem distant from the rest of the shadows, she still gives off the "no one bullies my siblings but me" vibes and will kill anyone who messes with her guys.
she doesn't do any sex or romantic stuff but is an amazing cuddle buddy if you catch her at the right time and give her enough puppy eyes.
she doesn't really do any combat and people often assume she can't fight at all. Little do they know, she has been able to kill a fully armored soldier with her bare hands since she was 15 and is one of the most dangerous snipers to ever live. The shadows have bets going about her kill count, which only Graves knows.
her lack of empathy due to her mental illness makes her the voice of reason in any and all situations, which can be crucial during missions that take a bad turn.
she knows everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, like a shadow comes up to her like "Hey, have you seen my-" and she immediately goes "In the gymnasium.", or when someone starts telling her an anecdote about someone and she's like "I already knew that" even though said anecdote happened like 30 secs ago and she wasn't even there when it happened. She also knows a lot of stuff that is definitely some of the most classified shit on earth but no one mentions it.
she has 50 backup plans and is creating more by the second.
knows some of the more elaborate torture techniques to ever exist and will not hesitate to use them if need be.
her lack of facial expressions makes it impossible for people to know what she is feeling, even the shadows have a hard time guessing her emotions (if she even feels any).
probably the most blunt and honest person in the company.
she goes by her callsign most of the time and Graves is the only one to call her by her first name when he feels like he has a death wish.
she is fluent in French, Russian, ASL, FSL, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, German, RSL and Mandarin. (and obviously English)
she is semi-verbal and uses sign language when she doesn't feel like talking.
I don't have any other ideas right now but if you'd like to know how she would react to certain situations let me know and I will add it.

New Years Eve- Xavier Thorpe
Tumblr media
"Here," Enid says as she hands me a flier.
"A New Year's party, really?" I ask her.
"Yup, Thornhill helped me get it approved," she tells me while still handing flier out to people.
"Party's aren't really my thing," I tell her.
"You're coming," she declared for me.
"Why do I have to?" I ask her.
"Because you are my friend and you should support my hobbies," Enid says.
"I didn't know party planning was a hobby," I say to myself.
"Fine, I'll go," I tell her.
"Great make sure you get there at 10," she tells me as she walks in the direction of another group of people. I start walking in the direction of my art class when I hear my name being called.
"Y/n," someone shouts my name. I turn around to find Ajax.
"Oh hey Ajax," I say with a smile.
"Hey," he says back a little out of breathe from having to catch up to me.
"I saw you talking to Enid," he says.
"Yeah she is forcing me to go to her New Year's party," I tell him.
"Oh do you think she uh has a date?" He asks me nervously.
"No probably not. I bet she was to busy planning the party to worry about a date," I tell him.
"Oh uh great thanks," he tells me with a smile.
"You're welcome, I'll see you tonight," I say to him as I walk into the art room and take my see beside Xavier.
"Going on a date?" He asks me with a frown.
"What?" I question confused. Then I realize he meant Ajax.
"Oh you mean Ajax. No, he was asking me if Enid had a date to her New Year's party," I tell him.
"Are you going to the party?" he asks me.
"Yeah, Enid is making me go. If I had a choice I would definitely just stay home," I tell him.
"Oh," he says looking at me with a frown.
"Are you going?" I ask him.
"Uh yeah probably," he tells me.
"At least I'll have someone to talk to at the party then," I tell him with a smile.
"Definitely," he says back. After class is over I pack up all my things and start to head back finish my homework before the party. When I look at the time I see it's almost 9 PM and I quickly start to get ready for the party. I curl my hair and decide to leave it down.  For makeup I did a natural base with just some smoked out brown eyeliner and for my outfit I chose to wear a sparkly sliver button up, a black mini skirt, and some knee high black boots. I quickly add some last minute lip gloss before heading out the door.
At the party
When I get to the party it's about 10:15. I get myself a drink then try to find Enid. When I see her she is talking to Ajax and I don't want to interrupt so I start trying to find Xavier instead. When I find him he is sitting in the corner with a drink in his hand looking at the floor.
"You know most people try to have fun at parties," I say to him as a take a seat next to him.
"Oh hey I was starting to think you stood me up," he tells me with a small smile.
"Me stand you up? Never," I tell him with a smile.
"Why are you sitting in the corner alone?" I ask him.
"I was thinking," he tells me.
"What were you thinking about?" I question.
"There is this girl I want to kiss tonight but I don't know how to tell her," he tells me with a frown.
"Don't tell her. When the ball drops just turn to her and ask to kiss her," I say back trying to make things easy for him.
"Okay," he says with a smile. For the next almost two hours Xavier and I just sit there and talk. When it's 11:55 we get up and I pull him towards the crowd of people around the TV.
"Aren't you going to go find the girl you want to kiss?" I turn and ask Xavier.
"Oh uh," he starts to say something but gets cut off by everyone screaming.
"Happy New Year," everyone screams.
"Happy New Year Xavier," I tell him with a smile.
"Happy New Year Y/n," he says.
"Can I kiss you?" He asks.
"Yeah," I whisper back as he leans into kiss me. I kiss him back right away for a couple seconds until I pull away.
"I was the girl?" I question looking into his eyes.
"Obviously," he says before he kisses me again
