author's note; he is so beautiful he makes my brain short circuit summary; anger on the ice turns into an annoying relationship that seems to follow the two of you everywhere. until eventually, maybe, the nuisance of each others presence turns into something else. word count; 1.8k warnings; fluff, swearing, slight enemies to lovers? characters; fem!Reader x Nico Hischier, platonic!Reader x Mat Barzal

There was nothing worse than your temper when it came to hockey. The fact that your best friend played made it easier to rile you up, fans realised quickly. Before long you were a beloved figure for Islander fans to joke about. Their favourite thing to poke fun at was your inability to hold yourself back. Which showed now, as you banged on the plexiglass and yelled “Offsides!” The devils player who had committed the act turned to you. Decked head to toe in Islanders attire (a beanie, jersey, and scarf. The rest he couldn't see), you took his eye contact without falter. His eyebrows tugged together. Who were you? His expression morphed from confusion into annoyance as the referee blew his whistle and lifted his arm. Offsides. You had called it and the ref had listened to you. And you were right, of course (he would later find out you were always right when it came to hockey), which perplexed Nico even more. Who were you? The question seemed summed up when Mathew Barzal slammed his shoulder into the glass. You rolled your eyes at him but your previously fiery expression melted away into a badly disguised smile. The player laughed, laughed! at you. Obviously his girlfriend, Nico thought to himself with a scoff. This seemed further proven when you turned around and pointed both thumbs at the back of your jersey. Like a possessive mark, a billboard as to who you were and why you were there. Barzal, splashed across your back. The man in front of him took it in, then turned to skate away. He noticed Nico's lingering attention and drifted over to him. "Don't you just love it when the fans really know what they're talking about?" Dick, Nico thought.

Nico remembered you, he thought as he walked through the arrivals. You were chatting away with Beauvillier happily, waving your hands every which way. He faltered for a moment, urging the memory to surface. And then it did. He allowed himself, for a moment, to wonder if maybe he had gotten your relationship with the Islanders' golden boy wrong. Then Barzal came in and tugged on your hair like a bothersome boyfriend. You swatted him away and your laugh carried through the building. Beauvillier spotted Nico and raised a hand in a wave. This garnered the attention of the other two. Barzal turned and nodded at him. You however didn't move. You levelled your gaze on Nico and the boy froze. Then as if he had failed your test, you turned back to Mathew and said something, pushing him on his chest. Not wanting to try and decipher what, Nico nodded at Beauvillier and moved on.

You made yourself apparent in the game yet again. You made a howling, "Ow ow!" noise during warm ups every time an Islanders player passed you. They all shook their heads and grinned. During the game it was like you turned into a fifty year old dad drunkenly watching the super bowl. You celebrated every goal like it was an overtime winning one. You chirped the boys as they went, "Nice miss, Barzy!" Seemed to be your favourite one. It seemed every frustration of a mess up washed away when you opened your lip glossed mouth. Every celebration made better by your euphoric yelps of excitement. When the second period rolled around, Nico felt anxious. Literally anxious under your gaze. He missed a shot and- "Wanna try getting the puck in the net, pretty boy?" His eyes widened. He couldn't stop his lips from parting. When he looked at you, you were smiling at him like he was just another Isles player. It felt a little like sunshine on his face. Bright, warm, and blinding, he added to himself as someone stole the rebound from him and the puck was suddenly on the other side of the ice. Shit. He thought. And it was like you could hear him wondering how he had gotten so distracted, as your lips curled in a feline smile and you nodded at him. He couldn't hear you well over the roar of the crowd, but he could make out the words. "Puck went that way."

This time he wouldn't let his mind wander. This time he wouldn't pay attention to you. You were just a girl. Just another WAG. Another Isles supporter he couldn't wait to piss off. It was his arena tonight, his home ice, he had the power. All his self imposed mantras washed away. Anders Lee, the biggest guy on the team, chirped "She distracting you again, or you playing this bad on purpose?" Nico swung without thinking. He was tired, his skates were tied too tight and hurt, and Lee had just sent him flying into the boards a few seconds ago. The second the fight was broken up he knew what was coming. He shook his head, skating to the penalty box. He hadn't seen you yet, and he was far from relieved that he finally did now. "Having fun, pretty boy?" You called, tapping the glass he was confined in. He yanked his helmet off, "Yeah. Your boyfriend sucks. Having a great time beating him." You pursed your lips, "Which one?" He couldn't help the laugh that tumbled from him. A deep one that came from his chest, shocked at the utter audacity you carried on you. "Barzal? Number 13? Ring a bell?" He turned his eyes back to the game. "I only have eyes for you." You teased. Then, almost as if you sensed the way he didn't believe you, you added "Hischier." The name made it seem more realistic. You knew his name. Or you had heard it on the broadcast, at least. Or maybe from Barzal. "Consider changing your jersey, then." He joked. He turned back to see if you would laugh at his joke, but you were gone. Disappeared into the crowd. Later he would check twitter and find out that, for once, you had set yourself up in the area designated for players friends and family. You had slipped away only once or twice, and fans found it hilarious that one of those times had been to mock Nico as he sat in the penalty box.

This would be his final time playing the Islanders this season, Nico reassured himself as he kicked a soccer ball around with some other boys on the team. The movement helped him dispel his nerves. Soon he'd be on the ice, on display for you. If anyone noticed his quiet stress, they didn't point it out. He got a few shoulder clasps. But no indicator other than that. He didn't even know you. He had to keep reminding himself of that. He just knew you called every penalty the refs missed. And that half the time, the confidence in your voice had them calling it- albeit, a few seconds late and to the chagrin of any opposing team. Nico shook his arms and upper body as he waited for the national anthem to start. Trying to get out the boredom and growing anxiety. His eyes searched the crowd. Away games were always hard. Nothing compared to the joy of seeing an entire crowd wearing the Devils shade of red. Nothing, it seemed, except for the absolute electricity as he recognised you, donning that exact colour. You noticed his attention almost immediately. Then you tugged at the sleeve to show off the number stitched into the side. As if he hadn't seen it already. As if his entire body hadn't been overcome with chills as it took him only a split to realise you had taken his words to heart. Consider changing your jersey, then. And you had. You were still on the Islanders side of the rink, though, and donned the familiar scarf and beanie. Oh well, Nico thought as the lights dimmed and a woman started singing Star Spangled Banner. That will change in due time.

After what he considered to be maybe the best game of his life, Nico felt a little surprised when Beauvillier congratulated him by dapping him up and smiling at him in a way the man hadn't smiled at him before. It was dripping with a knowing look. Twenty minutes later Nico was showered and changed and surprised to find you greeting him outside the locker room. "You give good advice, Hischier." You hummed. He got over his initial shock quickly. "How'd your boyfriend feel about that?" "Don't have one," Your answer had been assumed at this point, "Barzy's my best friend, though. And he found it pretty amusing." "I bet." Nico trailed off. He really didn't know enough about you to keep the conversation going, that much was obvious. "This is the part where you're supposed to ask for my number, Hischier." He fumbled with his phone as he pulled it out of his pocket and unlocked it before practically thrusting it into your hands. Every ounce of manliness had fled his body and he was unable to even speak. He wanted to make some smart comeback. Ask if you even knew his first name. "You ready?" Interrupted the pathetic moment. Mat was coming down the hallway. "Yep." You told him. Nico couldn't even force himself to say something cool as a parting gift. He closed and opened his mouth as you walked away, until eventually calling a "Bye!" to your retreating figure. He heard your laugh. You didn't turn around as you waved him goodbye over your shoulder.

There was no games that could compare to Playoffs. You had made the trip from New York to New Jersey on your own. It was the first time you had ever done so without Mat (What business would I have in Jersey? You had joked to him). After the first game loss, Nico felt like shit. 5-1 was bad. The only thing that made it better was that the second he was out of the locker room you were tugging him to your car with a lazy grin. "Baby, come on." You laughed. His steps were slow and heavy with self pity. When you finally reached your car you rested against the hood and pulled him to you. "Don't sweat it." He grumbled something intelligible in response. You kissed him softly, slowly, and against his lips mumbled "Those refs were fucking idiots. I won't let them make those mistakes next game." "Next game?" He asked, pulling away from you with a shit eating smile on his face. "Yes." You confirmed. "Next game. The Islanders can live without me for a little bit. I have a boyfriend to support." Nico couldn't help but tease "A jersey boyfriend to support" "Don't push your luck, Hischier." You growled in response. But you were smiling and kissing him again, and he knew that come next game you'd be glued to the boards calling out every foul except for his.

lowkey feeling some angst (said me never) like maybe nico gets hurt really hurt on the ice (like doesn’t get up for a while) and it was after an argument him and angie had when the team still didn’t know they were official. and angie goes crazy and has to be held back by someone (jesper?). idk just an idea!

Omg yes!! It could have happened at the end of last season, and both of them are trying to make it to the end of the year after an injury-riddled season (2023-24 was rough for them).

Despite the seasons setbacks, Angie had begged Coach Green to let them play on the same line for just one game before the end of the year. After all, their off-ice chemistry was undeniable, so why not see if it translated onto the ice? Green had reluctantly agreed, but it felt like the world had other plans that night as they were no longer in play off contention so really it felt like wasted games.

Their pregame had been thrown off after a slight argument that Nico had started after bringing up their summer plans, hinting that he wanted to be invited to the lake house. Angie still a little on the fence about inviting him to the lake house and finally telling boys that they are, in fact, together. Nico felt like she was purposely sabotaging their relationship and Angie, flustered by her own fear of taking that next step, snapped at him.

Soooo they hadn’t fully made up before the game, and now, the tension lingered into their dynamic on the ice, which caused Green to separate them onto two different lines after playing a shitty first period together.

Then came the second period.

Everything had led up to the slightly dramatic, but also very traumatic moment where Nico had the puck when someone blindsided him with a hit that flipped him around and slammed him against the ice. It wasn’t just a routine fall—this was different, even the crowd could feel it as they gasped while Nico crumpled to the ice, unmoving.

For a moment, Angie was frozen on the bench, her brain struggling to process what she was seeing as he gaze flipped from Nico to Green who was now motioning fo rthe medics to get on the ice.

But then the panic hit as she dropped her gloves and stick on the ground.

She was halfway off the bench before she even realized what she was doing, her skates hitting the ice as she made a beeline for Nico. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. The argument from earlier swirled in her head—how stupid she had been.

Really, her motives could be summed up as her being the only Alternate captain actually playing in the game (Jack was out for the rest of the szn at this point), but to a few guys on the team, these moves were a lot less calculated then the normal angie reaction.

Jesper Bratt grabbed her arm, pulling her back before she could get too close to the scene in front of them. "Angie, wait—let the medics handle it!" "I should be there," she said firmly, trying to pull free from Jesper’s grip, her voice breaking as she watched his expressions often, almost like he clued in a little that stronger emotions were floating around, "I need to—" "Let them do their job!" Jesper’s voice was firmer than she had ever heard before but still had that gentle tone to it. Angie struggled against him, but he held her back as the medics rushed onto the ice.

"Go talk to the Refs, okay, we still need a leader," he motioned towards the guys in tripes who were rewatching the tapes over and over again to decipher whether the hit was legal or not.

Her heart was pounding, every second feeling like an eternity as her eyes flipped between him and the refs, who weren't even attempting to speak to her, as she demanded some sort of penalty for their captain being knocked unconscious.

Nico still wasn’t moving, and with every few seconds she felt herslef going crazy.

Angry tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as the refs yelled at her, and she yelled back, her throat tightened with frustration at the turn of events, and before she knew it, she was ejected from the game and down the tunnel, following Nico close by.

But as she left the ice, she could definitely tell that the team could read the tobe change that had overtaken the captain and alternate captain and that whatever going on was at a deeper emotional level than they could ever understand.

Update on Hoston (OC)!!

I’ve been working lately on my boy and made a couple of ref sheets for myself for the future. I’ll hit two birds with one stone here and give a little bit of background on who he is and what he does, so keep reading if you’re curious about him!

Here are the reference sheets (they’re still WIPs but I still wanted to share them anyway)

About the reference sheets:

Why I made two references sheets? Well the first one I made was in my regular art style; when I was almost done with the Lineart, I realized that I should have drawn him in a different art style in order for his backstory to make more sense (I’ll explain more in moment), I don’t see why I shouldn’t post it though, since there are some details in this ref sheet that aren’t seen in the other one, like his Mettaton-like arms, and his exposed voice box (more on that later).

The second reference sheet (which is his Official design and art style), is in a “cartoon” art style (which isn’t what I usually do btw), there are two reasons why I decided to go with this style, first: is backstory, you see, he is supposed to come from an AU that is based on cartoons and cartoon-logic, so it just makes sense that he would be cartoonist-looking. The second reason is that it makes him easier for me to draw him (since I have plans on drawing him quite a lot for a certain future project).

About Hoston:

He is a version of Spamton that escaped the Dark world by sending himself to the nearest unsuspecting “computer” that was the most likely to open his spam email, and it just so happened to be Mettaton. Spamton and Mettaton ended up sharing a body for the meantime while Alphys was building Spamton his own body, during that time Spamton learned a lot from Mettaton which made him reevaluate his life, to the point were he admired Mettaton, considered him a mentor, and even mentioned wanting to be a Show host like him, to which Mettaton laughed thinking he was joking.

About his body: he specifically requested Alphys for his face to have a long nose. Before he was transferred to his body he was sent to Alphys’ computer so she could help him fix his um… [spam moments](?), she was able to fix it to a certain extent, he still gets them from time to time especially and specifically when he gets “emotional”, example: when he gets really excited or very angry. When he was finally transferred to his new body and heard his voice, he HATED it, because, to him, it didn’t sounded like his old voice back in the Dark World; so he asked Alphys to change it multiple times, and some times when he thought he had found a voice that he liked after some time he’d end up hating that voice too; he does eventually finds one that he likes but Alphys decided to leave his neck without a cover plate, exposing his voice box, in case he changed his mind and came back for another voice box, that way she could change it faster; because of this he always covers his neck with a huge neckerchief, so in the case of him getting in a battle, the opponent doesn’t take away his voice, since that’s the most important thing to him.

So, things happen, and he eventually changes his name to Hoston and becomes the host of a show (I know, a terrible name, I did mention in my Meet the Artist that I was bad with names).

“What is his show?” You might ask? Well it’s the “Hoston Show”! (Again, I’m bad at names). What is his show about? Well, that we’ll see.

Does he have any powers or special abilities? He does! Because he comes from an AU with cartoon logic, he’s got any cartoon related powers you could think of, he’s got hammerspace, he can create things (like a stage for example) out of nothing, and he’s even got the delayed fall (though idk if he’d consider that an ability), he’s got more stuff but I can’t recall anything else rn, just think of the “Looney Tunes” and ‘Wile E. Coyote and The Road Runner”, those pretty much the sums of what he can do.

Despite what you might think he doesn’t do much fighting and uses his abilities for the purposes that benefit his show, though if he’d feel threatened, he with no doubt will defend himself, but that usually depends entirely on if he puts himself in a vulnerable position, which rarely happens.

Aapo knocks out Jarmo

In a match up that everyone thought would be a one-sided beatdown, nobody expected the pretty boy Aapo to come out on top over the brutish and far bigger Jarmo. In the end though, the crowd got their beatdown, and it sure was one-sided. "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" perfectly describes Aapo's fighting style as he totally demolished Jarmo. "The hands can't hit what the eyes can't see" also pretty well sums up the other side of things, with Jarmo's punches just hitting air as all he saw were stars. Jarmo went down twice in the first round, twice in the second, and by the time the third rolled around he was struggling to even stay upright as Aapo knocked his lights out with a straight right that left him facedown on the canvas. Judging from the playful smile flitting across his face as he waits in the neutral corner for the ref to finish the count, this probably isn't the first time Aapo's flattened a guy nearly twice his size, nor will it be the last.

You see why I said Moon Craters Highway, right …Earth is literally on its way to become another Moon with how dented it is from various battles as if metaphor for God's salty plan to rid…whom I wonder…

It already looks like an isolated dystopian space city, Mars, or Moon colony, whatever sci-fi likes.

S'long as road work ahead, get'cha car n bail ay. Not to dwell on logistics, but I must wonder just how they escaped—how Spy managed to sneak near rock takoyaki, how both of them got out of it and to their car, consider last we saw they still were immobilized as heroes arrived on scene. Mb Jr. Spy got to his Sr. Agent while Tatsumaki mangled B13, drilled a hole down to their car, n escaped together. Mb Spy got out first from the larger crack Tatsumaki made while with contact to his Agent still stuck, then when heroes came, he tunnelled out of there n they bail like lab rats.

“Apollo-san! Are you alright?!”

How nice of you ask about your senior but Boy, does he look alright to you?

Btw I assume their hierarchy as such bc the spy asked him with -san honorific & formal speech. I can somehow hear his voice as a specific type of shounen, usually reserved, but dutifully takes action at an order of his management.

For us, it's not until now we actually learn moon agent's name is Apollo (bit ironic, no?). It makes me wonder why a Sun associated person would work for the Moon, ref to space mission aside. Also makes me wonder if his junior's name is Hermes, consider he was spy (messenger) and now driver for our Agent Apollo… just a thought. Why do I feel like one of them (spy) will defect… also spy's shook face at Tatsumaki is priceless.

Not much to add for Greek mythos bc I feel like it's well-known enough, but apparently “Apollo” can mean “destroy”? Which is curious bc he is a deity often associated with creative attributes, but actually, he can both heal (+) and destroy (—diseases).

He's named the Sun but is he really the Sun? Or is he just another Shadow of the Moon?

Now as they run for their lives back to base with tails between their legs like disgraced dogs,they pass by the grand sight of a tornado's terror of a tantrum. Tatsumaki is so outraged by Saitama she didn't catch the Tsukuyomis on the run.

Overall:

Tatsumaki has the lead. Tsukuyomi took the hit. They lost not only their generous sum of money donated to secure Psykos, they also lost Psykos herself and they and their dignity got hurt. They only escaped bc Tatsumaki got distracted n too wild but they barely got out with a sliver of their lives and prides. Big, disgruntled loss, if I say so.

At the end of it all,Blizzards try to be productive with their number: they make use of their group work & personal expertise to exert pressure on execs to extract information and sort out clues.

Cooperation is a Powerful Tool, isn't it. On both sides of the negotiations, of course.

I wonder if the exec noses get bigger as they lie, it's as if Murata drew them such unique noses on purpose. Except they're so terribly obvious liars you'd be a fool to believe them. McCoy? Oh his shady face at the back is coy as he schemes

Here comes Gearsper at a suspicious moment, who proposes they “must've fallen for tricks.” Well, Whose trickery? What sort of tricks?

Without an answer to my previous question, he assures them Tsukuyomi is merely a rumour, no more than expired gossip, and so ridiculous a rumour it's not even worth to expand on as conspiracy theory.

Hold on boy, care to explain your forehead scar? And Why do you seem to smirk as you speak?

Suddenly, the button on his helmet looks a little too much like the dented Moon God resides on. And his well fit suit looks too neat for hero work …He hides Tsukuyomi's existence, for whom?

He proceeds to list the reason for his logic, with known presence of psychic members at MA, he makes a fair argument, yet his suggestion raises my subconscious alarm.

Needle Star doesn't say a word but you can tell he's got some thoughts about Gearsper.

Next panel McCoy exhales his obnoxious fumes with a sleazy smile and you just know he's up to no good. Mb he's let Gearsper cover Tsukuyomi, or he's got more schemes to execute.

Eloquent Evil

Remember I said Apollo gives me the creeps. I figured out exactly why he destabilizes every atom of my existence. His speech unsettles me so.It has no particular abnormality but I noticed he tends to not only speak with long (aka polite) conjugation (desu-masu), but also often uses a form used for suggestion, like let's & shall we, or …right? (deshou-mashou). Both are much used as standard formality, totally normal for real life, and expected politeness to strangers, senior, at work, etc. types of non-familiar speech. Except, bc manga & anime tend to use short conjg., and often super casual speech, esp, action shounen or seinen, courteous articulation can feel out of place with boisterous shouts all around you. It's like when smb is excessively civil it feels uneasy rather than relaxed, bc you feel like they're onto some nefarious schemes, down to exact details.

Best example without evil is Forte's 180° switch from fight me to would you mb like to hang out sometime which creeped Saitama out royally.

And right now, the way Gearsper speaks with all his polite desu-masu & deshou gives me prickly hairs on my neck. An uncanny recall to Apollo's courteous exchanges while he tries to KO ppl. Like, do all mad hatters & smiley mask suit-man present themselves so nobly? Sweet words drip poison from an executioner's tongue. Civil mask hides monstrosity without heart.

Gearsper, Without the Gear, Who are you?

I really don't want to doubt his prior merit, or for him to turn out as spy, bc he seemed to actually enjoy work with others like we saw with support team and they seem to get along well too, but if he is a spy, and it was all a ruse to pretend to be loyal to HA then he's damn good sneaky spy.

See, his humble rank makes him perfect for spy work. A little man with little presence. Nobody would suspect him if he is smart and discreet.

He is timid, not loud or keen to show off, helpful when needed & eager to help, nor likes to flaunt his accomplishments.

His mild manners, low rank, and small presence overall mean he's not easily noticed, no doubt a lament for heroes who want recognition, but an excellent way to conceal among crowd & gather precious intel.

Of course he could just be soft spoken, psychic, met the wrong people at the wrong place at the wrong time and felt the need to conceal himself and his past to keep his job, mb he was deemed a failed experiment, who escaped and wants no contact whatsoever with his past, sort of like Zombieman, although he did pursue Genus for clues about the limiter and God.

But for him to step out right now, to basically say: I know Tsukuyomi, but you need not know, bc it is non-existent… It would have been better for him (personally), to not speak at all, than to draw suspicion to himself, spark more curiosity about Tsukuyomi, and essentially expose the existence of the organization even more.

He could be manipulated, who knows. It's hard to read people without their full expression, eyes and brows are very subtle but honest indicators of truth emotions after all.

I was about cite his “weak” psychic power as part of why he's not easy to notice, but we only saw so much of him and he's really not half bad. I just feel like there's more to what his hero rank dictates about his ability. We all know ranks are BS often times.

I rambled about Gearsper's potential psychic capacity before, over here. It's just an old idea but bc his Gear is part of his hero identity, I do want to know what it does and how it works.

Better week on the road for North End

Four points from two away games is a decent return in anybody`s book and as they say at Golf it is not how, it is how many. North End grabbed a point at Norwich last Saturday afternoon in a game that will not be remembered in the annuls of history. They followed up with a good win at Huddersfield on Tuesday evening when we got our shooting boots back and scored three decent goals in what was a much better display than of late. The attacking intent was there for all to see in West Yorkshire and I am sure it gladdened the hearts of the 1,176 who made the trip over on a miserable Tuesday evening. What we need to do now is consolidate and build on the four points to get some of the positivity back in the club and in the manager, much of which has been lost in recent weeks. The game against Watford at the weekend will not be easy but with players hopefully returning we can win this last home game before Xmas and ease back into the play off spots.

Ryan Lowe said before the game at Norwich that keeping the back door shut was the first priority and we certainly set up to do that with little attacking intent in the first half of the game. It was a poor spectacle to watch in all honesty with the home side having some decent players but seriously lacking in confidence as I suppose North End were. To be fair we defended quite solidly and charged a couple of efforts down from the home side when they threatened the North End goal. We could have actually won the game in the last twenty with Whiteman hitting the bar and Whatmough having a goal bound shot blocked but 0-0 just about summed up the afternoon and it was certainly a better point for North End that it was for Daniel Farke`s side.

On Tuesday evening in West Yorkshire we finally burst out of our defensive coat and took the game to Huddersfield right from the first whistle. A shot and a shout for a penalty came in the first couple of minutes before Browne gave us the lead inside four minutes. North End looked much better playing this 3-5-2 and dominated for much of the half. Keane made it two before half time and we were well on our way. Unfortunately we sat back back after the break and the home side took advantage pulling one back through Ward but when Whiteman scored a third for North End midway through the second half it was game set and match. North End saw out the rest of the game quite comfortably and could have won four or five if the truth be known. However it was a god win and a generally good performance from the boys to set us up for the game against Watford at Deepdale on Saturday.

Watford come to Deepdale having been beaten at home on Tuesday evening by high flying Ipswich Town 1-2 after taking the lead in the game. The Hornets recent record is won two, drawn one and lost two of their previous five Championship games. They have played nine games on the road, winning two, drawing three and losing four, scoring just seven goals and conceding thirteen. Although their away record is nothing to write home about this is definitely a team that should not be underestimated and some think they are currently punching below their weight being mid table in the Championship four points behind North End. Hopefully we will have Osmajic back and Emil Riis is not too far away either. This will give the manager the choice he needs up front so lets hope that one or both are involved on Saturday when I expect the team to give the fans a pre Xmas boost in the last home game before the big day.

And finally this week:- I had to look twice when I saw footage of a top Turkish referee being assaulted by a senior official of one of the participating teams in a Turkish Super League match. The right hook sent the ref to the floor and then he was kicked while he was on the floor. It was an utterly appalling incident and I sincerely hope it is a life ban and serious assault charges for the two men involved. I know football is passionate but that is way over the top and I hope these two thugs get what they deserve.

i could never be like him. i think this best sums up hakuno's thoughts about gepard -nodnod- and it sounds simple but there's quite a bit to it!! hakuno appreciates altruism and genuine kindness- which i think gepard absolutely has. what's interesting to me is that these qualities that hakuno admires are qualities she cannot see in herself. it definitely stems from her lowly view of herself and is tied to a lot of things that she's lacking, so there's a lot to unpack there tbh! but she does genuinely admire and respect him, that's for sure. in canon, hakuno's lack of connection to world is addressed and we get a pretty solid conclusion for it too! rather than the world itself, hakuno would think that people like gepard are what makes the world worth fighting for.

hakuno being so perceptive of others yet not understanding herself at all is a very important aspect of her character, and as her writer, i think that's what highlights this unique loneliness of her existence 🤠✌️ ! i mention this because i think hakuno would come to see that despite seeming so different, they do have something in common ..... but what really separates them in this aspect is that hakuno knows she's missing something, and she could never be like him, she could never ignore how she barely has anything in her to call her own- she can't, because otherwise, she'd really be nothing at all. i'll get 2 more of his in the point after this tho !!!

please don't lose sight of yourself. i yes yes YES i think she'd ask him about belobog 🥺 which parts to visit, which parts he likes, etc etc. she'd want to know the parts that he likes outside of his role as a captain and she'd want to understand his feelings for the city too.. because, again </3 those are feelings she doesn't understand at all. i imagine hakuno as a wanderer in any open world kind of setting, travelling to all sorts of places for no particular reason but i think subconsciously she's just trying to find a place where she'd belong. i'm 99% sure she will simply never end up finding a home (like in canon, she doesn't belong anywhere and ultimately does find a bittersweet sort of peace in that) but </3 maybe she'd have some hopes that she would find one in belobog too :,)

i don't particularly care for art, but... HOHO hakuno and anything artistic is fun because she's . not the best at it!!! which you can probably expect, given that hakuno struggles at expressing herself in general. she doesn't really care about it though (that's just how she is with most things, to be fair), but she wouldn't be against having lessons with gepard! if there's solid reason to refuse, hakuno would pretty much go long with anything (especially if she believe it to be what the other party wants) i feel like she would quite like it actually :] art's a good outlet for emotions and contrary to what others and herself may believe, she does em. she simply sucks at understanding or even perceiving them!

that's also why her art is so inconsistent methinks, they're very much affected by her feelings which she doesn't really understand. as for herself, she doesn't have any hopes to improve as an artist or anything either, but i can imagine something like- just something impactful that made her feel an Emotion(TM) and although she couldn't put it to words, she managed to put her feelings into a canvas. like maybe a late night talk that went on for quite a bit, and when [insert thing here], hakuno felt moved in a way she couldn't quite understand ........... and thus made the most beautiful piece in her life 🤩🤩 !! also, it would be sooo obvious to see how much hakuno warms up to geppie just from seeing how she would draw him sgkfshfk she's a fool though she wouldn't even notice the correlation (hakuno vc i just drew what i saw in front of me.)

please allow me to help. hakuno's always trying to be useful (she feels that she has no right exist otherwise, you see </3) and do what is needed from others, so she would provide her assistance anytime and anywhere! i feel like if they got closer, this could be a good show of that 🥺 rather than helping out because that is what is needed, she'd feel a desire to help out because she'd want gepard to rest. she's a hypocrite though, so she'd absolutely try to do exactly that too! so maaaybe they'd (lightly) butt heads a lil bit on that, but it'd be nice if they both could learn how to rely on each other. in hakuno's case, she's a big advocate on cooperation and things like that, but ironically always tries to do everything on her own.

also it'd be interesting to explore their different upbringings and motivations methinks!!! also also i think they're both extremely firm when it comes to their beliefs and ideals- they're both good-natured people too so it's easy to see them getting along, but i think a conflict because of circumstances wouldn't be out of the question 😳 ?! Because Gepard's identity is his surname and his position as Captain and outside of that it is focused mainly around roles (brother, son) so actually he isn't far off Hakuno when it comes to identity and I think it would be neat to unravel that.

Basically as best as I can sum it up, obviously there's a zombie apocalypse. The infection is the malice from botw, and everyone's trying to get by. Whether it's in a QZ, out in the open, or you're in one of the 4 groups. The boys meet Wild, (who is a Veteran. The best military branches hyrule has) and are being guided by him to his community, where it's far more safe. And adventure ensues, they all grow and love each other; and Wild is learning how to become a good person while also balancing with the amount of problems he's given himself.

Ref sheet for the gang hell yeah. Right now Sky’s and Twi’s design are my favorite. Idk if in the future I’ll change some stuff, but for now I’m satisfied with their designs, I think they fit well with the pit of hell they exist in.

Demar is beloved. Like. Thats just FACTS! reasonable tangible understandable FACTS!! serge would PUNCH a man for even HINTING dislike toward demar! We ALL would!!! Deebo is nice and sociable and truthful, can hold pleasant small talk, responds to reporters with delightful little metaphors for rudy gay to question. DEEBO IS A K I N G !!! a pleasant MANNERFUL king! Elegant demarvelous GORGEOUS he is THE WORLDS girlfriend! We DONT deserve him!!!! you know.. he's good at decency. 'Deebo's a Nice Guy. He's known for freezing up during playoffs.. but he's Likeable. He's Nice. So he'll be OK.'

Deebo has the 'i can socialize well in small conversations and i WANT to act pleasant to others because i care for them!!' Attitude People go through where they're 'on good terms' with a lot of people but not... their Number one. Not really KNOWN for ALL that he Is. All that he DOESN'T say. Because what if people Don't want to hear it? What if people Don't want their 'perfect' image of Deebo destroyed? Marred by depressing thoughts, chocked uselessly full of silly Obsessions and Ideas. They just like Pleasant deebo.. Want pleasant deebo. So he gives them that. And represses what he thinks isn't needed. Hides it. Doesn't speak it into life. well- absolutes are Difficult. Sometimes he let's Some Things slip out. Just little things though. No one cares enough to put what he says into memory though. It doesn't make impact that way. He's content with it, he supposes. Because others are.

But. It really does feel Good being with Kyle. JOKING with him, TALKING to him, telling him all your 'silly little ideas', goofing off with him, proposing a MOVIE together, little roles they can fit (the matrix clip..), it feels nice BEING with him. Because he LISTENS. Even if others only see Kyle as this stubborn asshole who takes no opinion beside his own into account, Kyle really does Listen. He might make some snide comments in reply, but he Retains the information given.. the things said. They can hurt him, or they could make him feel Alive. Laugh. Kyle lives for pushing people past their 'Decent' boundaries at the beginning to see who they REALLY are.. the Extent of their Being. He gives them his 100% in search of 100% in return. And you can Bet Demar gives that to him plus More. Plus the moon and the stars and the old movies of his time and his dumb little dances and his musical aspirations and his bothersome interview interruptions and his Love... demar is More than willing to give Kyle EVERYTHING. Because Kyle Asks for his everything. WANTS his Everything. Kyle takes Demar's everything and makes it Beautiful. Let's demar know it's meaningful. He doesn't show it as perfectly Expected, but he Shows it. Demar tells Kyle about his rapping hobby on a lazy afternoon relaxing from another harsh conditioning morning. He tells it as nothing more than a mere Afterthought, just an excuse able comment sprung by music listening inspiration. But Kyle HEARS it, TALKS about it. He brings it up in an interview... the reporter didn't ASK for it. She asked about his favorite rapper. But because Kyle thinks about demar SO much and about EVERYTHING he says, the good, the bad, the Cringe, he brings DeMar's hobbies up. He doesn't EXPOSE them in DEPTH though, just gives them a shoutout. To let the people hear. And to let demar know he's Been heard

Demar thinks of kyle often. Feisty asshole kyle. Couldn't live without me kyle. The man i leaned down to while he was on the floor kyle. The man i told i'd be by no matter What kyle. Because no matter What anyone else thinks of him, Deebo will be there .

Because Kyle's a Listener.

And DeMar sees that.

It's the little things that count.

June 2022 Mid Monthly Report

Hello hello, everyone! Apologies for the late report this month-- had a lot I needed to take care of this week, but I am once again back this month with another Mid Monthly Report.

Project Progress

Project : Identity

Change of pace, so we're gonna start with Pro:Iden progress this time around.

So! I have completed the common route for Project : Identity, and I just have to say... I may have to change the project name for this. So the story has changed a lot, which I expected with a project with as short of a development time as this was. I just uh, did not expect it change as much as it did. The story really does not deal with the concept of identity anymore, rather it deals with the concept of survival. In the month I've been working on it, it's gone from a crime drama to a rapture tale. Which I'm all for, but writing for the two routes is going to be a little bit more difficult than planned.

As for other things regarding the project, I have begun character designs. I said originally that I hoped to have them done for around the 19th, I'm going to shoot for 22st to have the girls' refs done.

Project : Desert

As of writing this, I am halfway through Act 2, and hooo boy, Act 2 has been a doozy so far. A lot of rewrites I had to do, and then the story took a turn in a direction I wasn't expecting it to. I don't write by the seat of my pants normally, but this is one of those times (I guess that's just the common theme for this month). Given that I am halfway through Act 2, I should be able to complete the act by July. Even with the delay I had earlier this year, I should be able to finish Draft 1 before the year's end (perhaps by October-ish). Which exciting, but also terrifying.

Speaking of exciting things, in a little under two weeks with be Project : Desert's 2nd Year Anniversary (wo-hoo!!!). It's crazy to think how long I've been working on this project, and even crazier to think this started out as a short story in a fanzine of all things. Y'all here this so often from me, but I just want to say thank you for your support. It really does mean the world to me that you've stuck with me and my crazed ramblings this long. I hope you'll look forward to the anniversary because I have a very special piece I made just for the occasion :^)
