my midterm/absolutorium is over and now i can actually. celebrate my bday lol i was too buried by uni bs this month to unwind.

i got like three diff pieces of cake from my fave pastry shop bc I DESERVE IT AFTER BLOWING MY PRESENTATION/DEFENSE OUT THE PARK (according my my classmates/prof but also ME MIETTE!!! IM SO HAPPY I DIDNT CLAM UP LIKE I DID DURING THE ONLINE PRESENAYSH AUHJA. And the prof cadre actually??? Seemed interested and asked me questions abt the process etc. Which is not on brand, usually they seem disinterested in what ppl are presenting and only a few projects get their attention. NGL after working my ass off beading these skulls i feel JUSTLY REWARDED. HARD WORK PAID OFF. And as per uj they couldnt believe i make them all by hand lmaaaaooo anyway zen right now after beinf so stressed last week & the weekend i can actually relax. enjoy my term break. make some clay critters

also the pics are kind of ehhh bcs the artificial lighting was super intense and kind of took away the softness/dark colors from the skulls esp :c i dont really want to upload hi res pics of these things until im finished with my masters 100% and hopefully have my degree. my question is this - i am a fanauthor. on the side i also write my own original fiction but i specialize in fanfic. Am I allowed to use your poetry for a reference folder? I wouldn't use your poetry in a fic without explicit permission and without linking back here of course, and I'd never use it for commercial work outside of maybe taking inspiration without copying, but I wanna have a ref folder of Things That Made Me Feel Things about a character. It's not planned to be public as of yet, it's just supposed to be a bunch of screenshots in my drafts, but I'd like to maybe one day make it public once the fic was complete. (I already have your blog linked in my drafts actually, so if it goes public I'm not gonna forget.) I just want to make sure you're comfortable with me using your poetry for fanfic of all things

my general stance is that as long as it's clearly credited, i am totally cool with my work being used in personal projects. like you said, i've got a tag for the things that people make! i love to see what people create. if it's for a noncommercial creative project then i would say there's no need to ask beforehand (unless it would make you more comfortable to ask, in which case go ahead and i'll almost certainly say yes <3). my only thing is that if you post it, please tag me in it/send it to me so that i can reblog it here for people to see!

Transing Ganondorf's Gender?

I get like, really curious I'll admit, whenever someone has a headcanon that Ganondorf is transgender. What I really wish though is that more people would like... go into detail about it. Disclaimer of course that I am very transgender myself-- I like trans headcanons! I don't think there really needs to be any reason at all to portray or headcanon a character as trans. I've had several trans headcanons and considerings myself with various characters over time. It's something cute and sweet, and I enjoy seeing a Trans Dorf every now and then.

BUT the gerudo have such a thing about gender and physical sex baked into them with the whole "one male every 100 years, who is to be their king" thing they have, and that has potential for all sorts of wild societal implications for a transgender Ganondorf of any direction.

For simplicity's sake, and the subjects of this post, when I'll be talking about "trans Ganondorf"s I will largely-- if not exclusively-- mean Ganondorfs who were assigned one gender at birth, and at some point came to identify later as a different one. Whether that's "man", "woman", or some other thing. Ganondorf's potentially genderqueer-esque experiences of gerudo masculinity, Ganondorfs who are "girl" because they were raised that way and feel the same sort of gender-- effectively agender-- as the rest of the gerudo who are "girl"... isn't quite what I mean here.

Like, what of a transmasc Ganondorf? Does this imply that every hundred years there isn't a male, but rather one AFAB gerudo who just happens to transition? Or if there is a cis male, then socially speaking... what does that make the trans one? Because assuming he's validated in some way, but "our man is our king" is in place and only the cis one is royalty, then that's definitely still very 🤨 cis-preferential, you know. That has implications. Implications I don't really find explored. Would he have to prove his manhood in some way? Would other closeted transmasc gerudo see him start to come out, and come out all at once to vie for his place? If being a gerudo man is being a king, all kinds of drama could arise-- "Do you just want to be in charge of us? Be nobility? How do we know you aren't faking it? Do you even deserve it?" If being a gerudo man does not always equal being a king, and gerudo trans men are out and about, what's their place in society? ... and why wouldn't it be king, if the cis man gets to be so?

Where to even start on what a transfem Ganondorf could run into? "We're glad you respect women so much, but why wouldn't you want to be king?" Would she be considered a queen? Would "king" be gender-neutral and she'd just be a king who's a woman? Might she be thought less of for wanting to be so normal, when being a man is something so rare? Or would she be welcomed as a fellow sister, cherished for having such a spirit in common with her people? Would she, like... physically transition, or even desire to?

There's a lot of possibilities! Fantasy's fun isn't straight escapism for me, it's also catharsis and exploration. Whatever gender stuff the gerudo have going on doesn't have to be utopian and perfect for it to interest me. And if it is utopian, then well... I'd like to hear about how that works as well! It's still Society! All this hypothetical gender mess... possible transgenderism and its social implications for both Ganondorf and other gerudo... it's just more room for headcanons and worldbuilding! And I'd like to see it get taken more in-depth, personally.

Idk this seems like the best place to put my thoughts to the internet void. But like imagine if homelander had an older super sister, with the same or similar powers that wasn’t a hero, like she just worked a normal job at vought cause she didn’t make the cut or something.

She’d feel so guilty for not getting homelander out of there when he was a child and now has to deal with his attitude or go places to calm him down after acting up. Sis is so tired but she just wants to help him and give him some family love

your comment about her powers being similar but not making the cut is so funny to me, and has me spiraling on the idea of someone who has ALL of Homelander's powers, but they're so extremely watered down, they're functionally useless.

laser eyes? yes! she has them! they are great for entertaining her cat, but produce no heat. flight? sort of! she can fall very slowly. super hearing? well, she can definitely always hear her neighbors bass 3 floors up, and it drives her insane. super smell? she has like, 6 safe foods. everything else is terrible, and if she gets within 100ft of a bath and body works, she gets a headache. x-ray vision? barely. it's just enough to help her cheat at cards.

she was a failure, but she survived. more than can be said for most other test subjects. maybe she's only Homelander's sister so far as they used similar enough ingredients to make for a genetic match, which DOES make her organs and such compatible with Homelander's. they kept her around because technically, she was healthy and genetically viable. she just wasn't super. she's basically spare parts.

in modern, she has quite a few! the first, most noticeable one is a tattoo of a three-headed dragon wrapping around the middle of her forearm and wrist, with the three heads at the top of her right hand. in verses/aus where rhaenys and aegon survive, she got this as a matching tattoo with them! there's a little tattoo of a comet on her right side/ribs in red ink. on her right thigh, she has a tattoo of hands holding a fire. below it, above her right knee, she has the words "catch the fire" as a reference to a sonia sanchez poem in this font (but a bit more bolded). there's a little horseshoe tattoo, which she shares with jhogo, aggo, rakharo, irri, jhiqui, and doreah; it's on her right ankle, and they all got it late one rowdy night. above her right elbow, she has a little book tattoo that matches one missandei has! wrapping around her upper left arm, she has a tattoo of a lemon tree branch. on her right shoulder blade, she has a small harp as an homage to rhaegar. she also has a second homage to rhaegar, which is a little cd behind her left ear (it's a cd she found with his belongings🥺). on her left shoulder blade, she has a small crown with flowers as an homage to rhaella. there's a roman numeral for three on her right bikini line in this style. she's always contemplating more, for she loves the artistry that goes into tattooing. these are also very physical reminders of ownership over herself.

in canon, i'm very much inclined toward dany getting tattoos! whenever we see tattoos being mentioned in asoi.af, there's direct ties to slavery. the ruling classes and oppressors of those in bondage find tattoos to be markers of inferiority, as chains printed upon the skin, as marks of filth. for daenerys to have tattoos, it's revolutionary. it shows that she rejects such notions and that she finds beauty in the nature of tattoos. additionally, as the mother, tattoos create kinship ties to some of her children who received tattoos while in bondage and as consequences of their bondage.

her first tattoo is delivered upon her ascension of the mother of mountains as the stallion who mounts the world. at its peak, the crones of vaes dothrak instruct her to lie upon her back, and as many as can fit around her from her united khalasar stand, watching as they tattoo an ornamental design over her heart. it's representative of the stallion's heart within! the tattoo is delivered with a bone needle, and the ink is made from charred horse bone and water from the womb of the world.

i like to imagine the second tattoo being a bond tattoo of types between herself, jhogo, aggo, and rakharo, binding them to her as blood of her blood. this tattoo matches the style of the one over her heart, but it is a tattoo flowing along her back from shoulder-to-shoulder, symbolizing the trust she has for them, for they are her watchers, warriors, shadows, and so much more. this tattoo's ink is made in a similar way as the first, but the ink does hold blood from the four of them, linking them all together and making them truly blood of her blood.

i like to imagine the third tattoo being inked into her skin in asshai, following the revelation of her identity as azor ahai reborn/the prince that was promised! the ink is developed by crushing up materials burned by her three dragons, a bit of their blood, a bit of her own blood mixed into it, crushed bloodstone, along with clean water (because fire and blood). the needle is actually forged of dragon bone, and the process is very much associated with ritual: prayers are said, spells are murmured, incense are burned while fired burn high and wild. these tattoos begin at the junction of her neck and shoulders, marking the tops of her shoulders and her shoulders themselves before connecting and extending down the backs of her arms; they stop at where her wrists join to her hands. there's also text on her back beneath the binding tattoo, going all the way to her lower back. the tattoo itself is a series of valyrian glyphs (here's a reference), marking her as the dawn in the darkness, as the salvation of the world, as the flame which cuts against the cold and smothers it. these words are interwoven with key narrative references to the original azor ahai, as well as symbols of protection and valor and wisdom, and spells themselves. i imagine they're intricate (and dense, like this and this). the entirety of this tattoo is a deep red, symbolizing blood (which, the sorcerers who give her these tattoos believe will imbue the protection and strength symbols, as well as the spells, with power).

there will certainly be more (somehow, somewhere . . . smth smth about the salvation of the world coming from her womb . . . thinking about more valyrian script in the shape of dragon horns on her sides leading to her womb perhaps 👀), which i will add later on, but as of right now, this is what's buzzing around in my brain!!

in general the post maw-collapse storyline [besides chiems and ochre] are where i've struggled the most. what next, after all of that shit, you know? especially because starlight especially needs a LOT of characterization work the brainworms just havent aligned for....

adaptation wise the idea is both a callback to starlights architect [whos named silk! yes i named them After but its a fun connection] but also recently i figured out why its like that.... i think starlights surrounding area is sooo miserable to traverse. super super marshy from all the backwater from sparks Super high production, full of fireflies [like stars], very dark with lots of shit lurking. you know that one room in gutter with the super muddy water thats almost impossibel to swim thru? Yeah imagine that for a whole region. so seamstress was designed to bypass all of that and well. use webs and etc to get over it, as well as to carry things through satchels and etc it made with its silk.

story wise... it has Something to do with aurora and starlight. I think aurora's 'oh god the consequences of my actions' finally getting through his head [he's kind of the reason whispers exists + more importantly gave starlight the information that led her down the path she took] and trying to like. reconcile all the Shit that happened especially as starlight begins to freak out and realize how badly maw got into her head [especially as maw ditches it to worry about sparks]. its all very messy in my head... it probably serves as some kind of messenger for them???? perhaps originally designed for starlight to try and get maws attention but then maw went [metal pipe sfx] and. idk im just ranting .
