today sucked
#Emu tries to post#yeah.....#so you guys know my trumpet snail the Chonk#well#she got stuck inside a sea shell#and on the first attempt to free her the pliers slipped and her own shell got cracked in half#but it was still there. I could have splinted it and fixed it#then when we painstakingly slowly got her loose she scooted backwards so her head and tail were poking out the same hole#I had to do more stuff to get her out#and well.#she degloved herself#nearly 3 whole body coils are hanging out#so I'm gonna have to go and euthanise her because I genuinely have to way to fix this that couldn't hurt her worse#agh.#I'm not gonna trust my mom around my snails again#i know she means well but they're too delicate#first a ramshorn dropped in the sink#next Chonk injured badly enough to need euthanisation and cannot be repaired#even if she hadn't slipped out I'm not sure I could have fixed it.#I've never seen anyone talking about fixing trumpet or rabbit shells#just mystery snails#and also funnily enough a couple hours before this debacle#someone asked me if I had any experience fixing snail shells#that was. It's quite funny having followed you for years and years and knowing Machete as his dark, bloodied, cunning (and always on the edge of getting horribly murdered for his hubris) incarnation, and coming into 2024 and just... yeah he's gay now. Maybe he's even happy. Redemption at last... perhaps he DID get assassinated indeed and all those AUs are just his personal afterlife (does he get to go to Heaven? Seems so!)

#redemption at last#personally I've always known he isn't as cool and cunning as he pretends to be#but when he didn't have anyone to interact with the dorkier more humane side never surfaced#the art I made of him was overwhelmingly serious and angry and sad and portrayed him in a more mysterious light#I didn't really talk about him or answer asks about what his deal is#(or any of my characters for that matter for years I just didn't feel comfortable opening up about them)#which is fine on it's own but I think he's currently benefitting from having a wider spectrum of emotions to choose from#doesn't mean that the dark bloodied cunning version is outdated I think these are traits that can coexist in a single character#answered#anonymous#but in a way seeing that he can be happy caring and genuine and gets tummy aches and likes snails and fresh bread#and has a small handful of loved ones and these positive qualities you might've not known about before#makes the misery more potent when they are taken away from him#at least in my opinion

there was like 5 days packed into today. Too much Day happened today. for me. Excess day. I need a negative five day Day to restore balance
#or just five consecutive negative Days#personal#a small diary entry#we went to the vet#I went to my brothers house#we went to town#we got coffee#I worked a full work day#I paid a bunch of bills and bought a bunch of stuff online ????#and I???? went and got some new dragon guppies and some mystery snails for my tank#and came home and cleaned the house#and also??? like did so much more stuff like I cooked all of keikos chicken for the week and#changed the towels in the bathroom and#not to mention like I did an entire drip acclimation for the new fish and treated them for pests and stuff like#how much Day????? was in today?#did I mention I also worked a full workday also???

Who is murdering my snails and laying eggs in their shells
I also found this tiny white worm (light stripe on its head) is this the criminal (is it planaria??? or harmless cousin)
I also found some tiny black leeches in my other tanks, so I'm not sure if those eggs are from the leeches. I haven't seen any leeches in this tank yet but they were good at hiding, the shell with so many eggs is from one of the other tanks but I found more eggs in this one.

Also I got pics of the other two online already so I should put this guy up too. She spends a lot of time hiding so I don't have as many pics of her but!!
#the one in the pov post and the one holding a cucumber are actually different snails they just look similar#one's solid brown the other's more stripey#snails aren't gonna be the only thing in the aquarium I'm just waiting for it to mature a bit more before adding shrimpies#so rn they have it all to themselves these three guys and a couple ramshorns that hitched a ride on some plants but im keeping them#maybe i will regret that in time but rn? they're here to eat algae and fuck and i don't mind them#if all else fails and there's too many I'll wait until the mystery snails die naturally and replace them w a couple assassin snails

I think this little fuck is dead constantly. Today he was chilling with his body hanging half out of his shell and I was like “Oh he gotta be dead”, but I checked on him a few hours later and now he’s here slorpin up the biofilm as always 😐
