i started this one the same day i started the last one if it wasn’t obvious by the theme of fan being the focus and an of montreal song being the inspiration,,, i just finished this one later because it’s bigger & i WANTED to use clay on this but i don’t know where my clay is….. MAYBE I’LL FIND IT NEXT TIME!!!!!! (HOPEFULLY) ALSO i know this one’s more choppy and messy and not as clean/flat colored as the last painting but that was SORT OF the point and also I REALLY DONT LIKE PAINTING LAYERS IT TAKES TOO LONG AND I AM VERY IMPATIENT … so i use crayon instead heheh

other versions as well!!!!! this time i put the non-shiny/glittery one as a secondary variation because the quality is SO BAD AND IT SCREWED THE COLORS UP . also kind of figured out how to get the glow in the dark to show up on camera … it’s brighter in real life & i had to use SO MANY FILTERS just 4 that 2 show up…….

Thinking abt the shimmer's finally bringing Mephone4 home-- but Mephone brings 3Gs with him. Bc despite everything he still sees the other Meeple creations as family and he still wants that family around.

And the Shimmer's let him do it, but 3Gs just KNOWS that they recognize him. He's the phone that stole away their young all those years ago. He's the very reason Mephone never got to grow up with them in the first place. Everything Mephone shares with 3Gs about what it was like to live with Cob's he realizes is his fault.

It's clear the Shimmer's don't trust him, some still even fear him, and he doesn't blame them. How could he? He did this.

And obviously, obviously 3Gs isn't the one to blame in this situation. But who is going to tell him that?

Apparently my first fanart of ii would be an au and mostly mephone4... Can't say I'm not surprised but...

I just wanted to draw mephone4 as a corn cob, tho I tried very hard to keep the shape language on the goofer with the visor. Didn't do the same to cobs, I ain't gonna sharpen a phone like a pencil, I'll just sand the edges.

Ngl I still haven't watched the show I just really like the art the fandom makes, picked the pieces of lore from those.

I'm INCREDIBLY curious as to what the pink shimmer that was inside of Mephone thinks about its time there. Were they Aware they were trapped inside a phone? Did they experience things from his point of view? How interconnected WERE they? God. I kinda hope they weren't conscious that whole time because I'm not sure the Shimmers have therapy services up there. Either way, it's INCREDIBLY interesting.

On a similar note, I really do wonder what Mephone himself thinks of the Shimmer. I mean, they literally were 2 organisms living with and working together. He was BUILT to hold that energy. Are there any side effects now that that energy is gone? (ASIDE FROM THE OBVIOUS LOL).

I dunno I think it's really interesting to think about. Both of these... Living, sentient creatures were forced to act as one being for their entire lives. Mephone, until now, has not had to live without that constant presence of another being. Even if he was unaware of them, they were still... There. And he was still there for them. I really like imagining them BOTH suffering effects from being without each other. I mean, the Pink Shimmer doesn't have their own shell anymore... Mephone WAS their vessel.

I think it's even more interesting if you examine how the Shimmers are naturally communal. The Shimmers are essentially a hyper-intelligent bee colony in which many of them share bodies and act as one! They are USED to being paired up with others, and even the Green Shimmer isn't just one, but two Shimmers inhabiting one body. The Pink Shimmer, in this case, may have just seen Mephone as it's sibling Shimmer. Working alongside him as one being! And, while they seemed perfectly happy with returning to their flock, I wonder if they were confused after some time, at why they were missing the presence of their sibling, who they'd been with all their life?

(Analysis of what the episode implies/means for Fan more specifically)

HELLO. SO. I kind of predicted this.

These are specifically about Fan glitching in episode 14, and about PEOPLE OVERLOOKING IT!!! I always KNEW there was something more to it.

Fan glitching is both similar to Springy's glitching, but also the Shield and Tree Mephone made. So automatically I thought, Mephone generated Fan. He can generate things! But, I honestly did not expect this to be true. It felt too easy. (so i instead went with; when mephone regenerates the contestants they are "built" out of his code, so close at least....?) But. Well. You saw the episode. And I am a sucker for these tropes and I have been incredibly interested in what this means for Fan specifically, considering he was made SPECIFICALLY to be a fan of Inanimate Insanity.

Here's me talking about the idea about a month ago:

As we all know, Fan's entire character is that he's a fan. That's the number 1 obvious thing. He was another "stereotype" as labeled by Mephone along with the other season 2 newbies. For almost every character it has been repeated that they are "more than what they are", which makes even more sense with the reveal. However, with this knowledge... What the Flip does this mean for Fan.

His entire arc has always been about his identity problems, and his extreme attachment to his identity as the #1 fan, which he STILL latches onto and puts so much of his confidence in. Almost like that... IS his purpose. Is everything he's ever known. All he had. But that was not only an emotional thing, he was quite literally created just to be the biggest Inanimate Insanity fan. That's his ACTUAL purpose. WHICH IS NOW MAKING ME CRAZY.

With this in mind, you realize how Fan being created is actually hidden in his arc. The writing doesn't make you consider the possibility, because the arc and personality work so well to hide it. This is shown most well once the prime shimmer asks him what he is beyond the show, to which he hesitates to respond to, saying he doesn't know. This whole scene is now in a completely new perspective to me. He ACTUALLY doesn't know. His identity literally IS built around the show, that's what he was made to be. That's all he's ever been.

I had mentioned Fan having parallels to Bot.

Something along the lines of this. Your identity being One Thing but then realizing you can be more than that, that's the main parallel here. WHICH- IS EVEN MORE INSANE CONSIDERING THIS EPISODE NOW. Fan was ALSO made with a purpose to be ONE thing, Fan (and Test Tube) was quite literally repeating the same thing Mephone did- the same thing that happened to them, but even more so with Fan specifically.

The one thing I keep thinking about is how Inanimate Insanity is still a big part of Fan's life. That's still something he loves so much and ties to his identity even with his development of trying new things. How would he react when he realizes he's forever tied to the show he was made to love? That he's forever attached to Inanimate Insanity, no matter what?? HE WAS MADE BY MEPHONE, THE HOST OF HIS FAVOURITE SHOW THAT HIS ENTIRE EXISTANCE IS FOR?? THAT HIS LOVE IS GENERATED? Compared to other contestants, Fan is... even more stuck in the show. He literally surrounds himself with it even when outside of it. Honestly was Mephone projecting when he created Fan or something???

Fan describing him being eliminated as literally dying is kind of even more tragic now. sad!

His whole reality would be shattered if he found out. I don't think he'd have time to think: "wow I'm actually EXISTING for Inanimate Insanity and that actually IS my purpose? and I AM truly the number 1 fan because that's what my entire identity actually IS built on????" While that would validate him and help his insecurities, Fan would be. Well. When your entire person is created to be passionate and dedicated to the thing you were created FOR and you even made prior appearances JUST to serve as the fanbase and nothing more. I don't even know dude. He'd be in so much denial over it. He'd start to question the sincerity of his love, or, something. At least he's made with the things he loves: creative passion. Which he was also made to love . but whatever,

You'd probably think he'd at some point try to separate even more from Inanimate Insanity. Honestly I think the opposite. after his initial denial i believe he'd latch onto it even HARDER. I think he'd just start regressing to old coping mechanisms to deal with it.

The fact he was created FOR the purpose of being ONLY THE FAN Also makes me realize something about him and Test Tube. On one of his tumblr posts he mentions how Test Tube introduced him to so many new things and ideas he had no idea he could be so excited about, because he's always been just tied to Inanimate Insanity and nothing beyond that, as he felt there was nothing else to care about. Test Tube offers the support of opportunities, even as early as when they first met, and especially in Hatching the Plan once she made him realize there was more out there.

It just makes me go completely insane how most of Fan's arc is so built on the fact his entire existence is to serve as a fan, and that wasn't even just an emotional thing or whatever he quite literally felt like he was nothing but a fan. I need to sit down. or draw art inspired by this cause good god. Hey fan you're basically made from technology the thing you really love! haahaa... at least that love comes from a real place right? I mean. In short. Fan is just... made out of what he loves.

do objects age?? like were any of the contestants at one point children or like some sort of equivalent to it? or were they created as they are now? what about ,,,, idk how i would put this uhhh real objects? like objects not connected to melife or created with melife? (DO THOSE EVEN EXIST?? DID MEPHONE CREATE EVERYONE EVEN SIDE CHARACTERS??) do they age? seeing all the flashbacks with mephone tells me they do not. but cobs created mephone for specific purposes i assume so it would probably be inconvenient to build a child who is incapable of doing the things you ask it to do or like program mephone to become old and die

MeLife creations don't age. Just born as they are. They could potentially get style updates and new memories inserted since they're connected to MeLife. Cobs probably does age though!

But there's something bigger than just that.

Where did he get the Mephone from?.. if it was the first time he ever went to Meeple in season 2 episode 8?..

He had these devices since the second episode (unless i missed smth in episode 1)

How did he get the phone? When? The laptop?

"It was generated by Mephone" No it wasn't. Soap's phone didn't disappear at the end of s2e17.

Not Cobs personally, just in general. Like it got shipped to him?..

The meeple phones are...

Really suspicious.

Cobs knows they're fake. Fake creations made by Mephone4. Why would he provide them internet access unless it were for his own gain.

Then Test Tube grants Fan his own original phone.

No longer associated with Meeple.

Their "rebellion" against the company after Fan lost his original phone.

This phone here is created with the tools Test Tube had. So it's fake compared to the realness of mephones.

So now they're no longer connected to Meeple on that fashion... but...

Speaking of the original phone...

Fan's original mephone was left on the Shimmers ship.

The mephones are very very important to the story in several ways.

In this scene, Fan wasn't even holding the phone when he dropped it.

It flung out of whatever invisible pocket he had.

This is either:

A. Left behind for the Shimmers to use in the finale

B1. Intense foreshadowing of Mephone4 going with the Shimmers

B2. Foreshadowing Mephone4's relationship with the shimmers

C. IF Cobs planned this from the start, the phone being on the Shimmers ship can cause chaotic karma.

No matter what happens.. Cobs truly was watching the whole time.

And the phones are always important.

Whether they're alive, like Mephone4, or not.

Also Soap possibly stole a phone from Meeple while she was there.

If that's true, then Cobs calling Soap a thief in that episode was crazy foreshadowing that she actually was a thief.

Sighhh while I love inanimate Insanity I think they struggle with ending seasons. I still don't like episode 18 of s2 or s3.

While not terrible episodes, the episodes before them are so much stronger and set up things that don't go anywhere.

basically mephone x isnt toilet and is kind of like a mindless drone almost but its still trying to kill the contestants. they decide they need to leave the hotel. they never found out they were fake, so knife ended up winning the fight and killing suitcase. on the way back to mecloud, cobs picked up mephone since he stayed back at the hotel to hide. he took down the shimmers and put mp4 in mecloud to make contestants for the next shows. the contestants met up with the rest of the fellas at purgatory mansion, and started their mission to mecloud

okay there is no possible way they are ending it on that, because we still have to worry about the shimmers, cobs said he needed to 'save his company' as well as just....movies have three acts, there has to be one more then it's not really a 'Movie' is it?

Also, I thought about Bot. Is Bot going to play a role? Because they weren't made by Mephone, They were made by Fan and Test Tube, AND it is confirmed that if they died, they would not be able to come back, so meaning they have no Melife profile.

Which means, THEY WERE NOT MADE USING THE SHIMMERS. BOT IS STILL THERE, AND ALIVE.

WHAT IF BOT GOES AFTER COBS TO GET MEPHONE BACK.

BOT HAS TO BE A HUGE PLOTPOINT FOR THE THIRD ACT. THERE HAS TO BE A THIRD ACT BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH TO BE EXPLAINED.

I DON'T THINK BOT WOULD BE DELETED WHEN THEY PULLED THE PLUG BECAUSE AGAIN, THEY WERE NOT MADE BY MEPHONE.
