I think Frank was saved by Angel Dust in the last episode.
He's special to me and I want him to play a major role in later seasons!
We already know EggBois were fine with Alastor giving them orders, so Frank could take a liking to Alastor,as well! He should remain Alastor's spy ( that could come in handy if the three Vees plan to do some harm with the hotel) But what I want to see, is Angel teaching that little fella how to fight properly. On the other hand, Cherri could pass on the secrets of making bombs to Frank!
This way, Frank will be ready for the next angelic threat and just like his precious Boss, he will fight for those who he loves. This egg is also hungry for some revenge, btw lol

Did you get to choose the new team or was it the studio? Yes, no.
Have you had conversations with Marvel about their plans for the guardians now that you’re done? Yes
Are there any deleted scenes with Llyla, Rocket, Floor, and Teef? No.
Did you ever consider inserting any other Marvel characters to cross over into this picture? No
Is there a reason Quill didn't have his helmet in Guardians 3? It’s in his desk drawer in Knowhere. He had to get out of there fast as you know!
Is there an in-universe explanation as to why Quill’s ditched his helmet and rocket boots? They have jet packs. The rocket boots comparatively suck. That's like cheap shit you get in the intergalactic version of Radio Shack. And Chris could never have done those amazing hallway moves with a helmet on.
Was there a plan for a new helmet design for Star-Lord (the classic design would’ve been cool)? No.
In the scene where Rocket and Groot are dancing, was that you and your brother on set? Yes
I was VERY curious on how Drax knew the JOOB JOOB but Mantis didn’t being Ego’s translator? Drax knew the language from his childhood. It's not in anyone's translators.
Why did no one understand, or acknowledge the language on Counter-Earth not being recognized by their translators? It's a cloistered culture. It would be normal not to have their Humanimal language in the translators.
Was the line always going to be “I love you guys” or did you have other options? No
Was there any consideration given towards giving the one spoken “F***” in the movie to Groot? Consideration? Sure.
Was redesigning Howard The Duck your idea? Yes. I've redesigned him on every movie because I've never been satisfied and we were rushed the first couple times. I'm happier now.
Did you ever think about giving Howard the Duck a bigger role in these movies (just asking because he’s my favorite Marvel Character)? Yes.
Does your average MCU earthling know that the Guardians of the Galaxy exist? No
Was Miley Cyrus not able to reprise her role from Guardians 2? Was that the same character? Yes. Yes.
James is Adam Warlock single? Yes
Has Grandpa Quill heard about Peter’s world-saving adventures already? No.
Does Peter Quill’s grandfather know about Ego? No
Was there an actual dog playing Cosmo or was that CGI? No, yes.
Was the Eagle in the cage an Eagly reference? Or just an Eagle? That was actually the real Eagly.
Can Groot grow a new body very quickly now? Yes.
Will there be Vol 4? No.
Will there ever be a director’s cut of the trilogy? Yes (the trilogy as is is the Director's Cut)
Do you want to do an extended version? No.
Does Guardians 3 have an alternate ending planned? No.
Will there be a longer cut of the film that has more Michael Rosenbaum in it? No
Will there be a commentary version of this film? Yes
As early as when you were making GOTG 1, did you already have ideas on where Vol 2 and 3 would go that eventually made it in the final films? Or were your initial ideas totally overhauled along the way? Yes, no.
Did you have to fight/negotiate hard with Disney to have all of those dark scenes? Or were the pretty open to your final vision? No. Yes.
Was it difficult writing Gamora’s arc in Vol 3, knowing Infinity War was going to kill her off? No.
Nebula's arm is the Bucky's arm from Holiday Special?? No. It's way better.
I saw you mentioned Annihilus as a possible villain for Vol 3. Was he also going to be a candidate for Rockets creator? Yes.
Does Rocket keep in contact with Thor? No.
Is there a super big, deeply-hidden Easter egg like the first one? Yes.
Did Bradley do all the young Rocket voice work too? No (Noa Raskin is baby Rocket, Sean Gunn is Young Rocket)
Since Halfworld isn't a thing in the MCU (I guess this is what you retconned out from the 1st movie) does that mean Rocket isn't a halfworlder in the MCU, right? You could consider Halfworld a more intergalactic name for Counter-Earth.

3. A character that fandom has helped you appreciate
I’m going with Jay White on this one, I used to haaaaaate him but tbh seeing more of his backstory and seeing him being leader to the Bullet club and how much he loves his boys it’s just so sweet to see. And now I’m gunning for him so hard to win for the Gold team (though he’s probably going to get his shit wrecked tonight by Swerve) and to finally see him get married to the love of his life Juice Robinson!
15. The character that always makes you smile
It’s a tie between these two fuckers
Tumblr media
From the moment these two laid eyes on each other I was fucking GONE. Every time these two look at each other, laugh with each other, every date we have seen them on, my smile is always the biggest and I feel like these two are gonna be lifers. This is easily one of wrestlings greatest couples. And I love them both. They’re a package deal for me. And what got me into AEW
16. A tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate
Ok bringing alllll three together now, one of my favorite smaller moments of the main event at Full Gear 2023 was the fact that after The Gunn boys were kicked out, and Jay was truly alone and what does Jay do? He goes to Adam and starts insulting him and trying to egg Adam on to make Adam snap and get his ass ejected too. But what he doesn’t know is Adam sees Max behind Jay and sees every insult is affecting Max. So Jay accidentally screwed himself over by giving Max the ammo to attack. Because when you insult Adam you insult Max. And Max took ever insult PERSONALLY.
Yes I will always gush about that moment.

Speed Run part III: No Sleep Till Brooklyn
Just found out that Guardians III is available to stream so, obviously, I'm about to watched that. I also, watched Spider-Verse II because, why the f*ck not? I’ve been playing catch-up with my movie viewing all year, mostly because lie is ridiculous sometimes, but progress is being made. So far, I've seen every movie on my top ten list, even if a little late.
Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3
Tumblr media
GoT III was much, much, better than i expected. From all of the reviews I've read, you'd think this was a jumbled mess of incoherent, tear-jerking, cameo laden, comic book bloat. It's not. It's actually really good. It's weird this thing didn't make more money because, objectively, it's one of the best projects coming out of the MCU since No Way Home. And i f*cking LOVE No Way Home. As great as his flick was, here were issues. Pacing toward the beginning was a little windy and some characters felt like they got rush jobs in terms of development but that’s understandable when you take into account the massive scope of this film. Adam Warlock was the biggest casualty of this. Dude was awesome and i kind of loved the take Gunn had on him. That “Born Sexy Yesterday” trope turned on it’s head was fun and i feel like we could have had a bit more of that. Damn sure wanted to see more of Phyla Vel, too. She’s a favorite. It was always going to be a tall order to give everyone satisfying closure to their story arcs or just screen time, especially hen this was, at its core, a Rocket Raccoon story. These are petty nitpicks because, overall, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 is a goddamn masterpiece. That makes three classic films, out of three tries. Who have thought that the films about an obscure, C-list, comic book team based out in deep space, would accomplish the rare hat trick and deliver a trilogy of movies with no bad entries. F*cking phenomenal.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Tumblr media
Across the Spider-Verse was the dopest film i have seen all year. Hands down, unequivocally, the best. I loved every bit of this film, every goddamn second. I am an unapologetic Spider-Man shill and Miles is up there in my book. I’m Pete purist but these Into the Spider-Verse gave us the best interpretation of the character and Across carried the energy into something greater. I ADORED this film, man. Never mind that it’s positively gorgeous. Never mind that it is brilliantly written. Never mind that it raised the bar for animation yet again. Never mind all of the quips, cameos, easter eggs, and nods. Never mind the dope ass character designs, ridiculous perfect reimaginaing of one of the lamest villains on record, or the that Rio is a goddamn vision. Never min that this film is the best executed multiverse narrative to date. No, all of that is dope, but, at it’s core, this move is great because of Miles. This is a Miles story and it is told brilliantly. No spoilers, which is weird to say for a movie that has been out for a month, but Across he Spider-Verse is arguably THE best Spider-Flick released thus far. And i am a No Way Home apologist saying that with no qualms or hesitation. F*cking brilliant film.

Hello, idk if you have been asked this already, but do you think Gunn made it clear that Gamora is not a guardian despite her understanding Groot? And do you think that he made it clear in the movie (and on his tweet) that Gamora and Peter are never getting together at some point despite her understanding why she fell in love with him? I have seen some people claim she doesnt like him nor the guardians, and that Peter doesnt love this Gamora because its not his.
honestly? looking at just the movie by itself, without everything happening irl, i don't think there's enough there to 100%, beyond a shadow of a doubt, prove or disprove gamora being a guardian. i do think the film asserts gamora is at "home" somewhere else now with the way the clip of her reuniting with the ravagers was included in the dog days are over sequence, seemingly to parallel it with mantis and peter leaving the gotg. (also this isn't fully related but i don't think we've ever gotten to see gamora have a group hug with the gotg or emote that way with them and i'm salty lol but 4 years passing offscreen before her death will do that to ya i guess)
i've also seen some ppl interpret the photo of everyone at the end as kind of a Look, She's Still One of Them In-Universe moment, but tbh that photo was giving me cast's last hoorah on their final project in this franchise together Ever more than any kind of message abt the in-universe character relationships. it was giving "omg it's everyone's last day on set in costume together!" rather than canon family photo to me. and i mean gunn may be detailed in his work but he isn't taylor swift lol. we aren't playing 3d chess to decode secret meta messages abt the canon through easter eggs here
standing by itself, again, i think the movie is left pretty open-ended, aside from peter returning in some form without the others in the future, but let's revisit That Tweet again for the sake of this ask:
Tumblr media
gunn is saying "you are 100% correct" to op interpreting the film as "quill accepting she isn't his gamora and leting go, while gamora understands how she was able to fall in love with him." i don't think this statement or the storyline suggested in the statement can fully prove or disprove whether peter and this gamora would ever fall in love in the future for certain, but it sounds like gunn probably had no plans to ever put them back together romantically - at least, not with this gamora. (but considering gamora and the rest of the gotg are done in the mcu but peter will be continuing solo in whatever form that takes, i think it's fair to say canon starmora is probably just going to remain a thing of the past)
and to make it clear, i Do think this was a solid arc for peter with This gamora considering the circumstances that vol 3 takes place within. it felt natural and like a rly good approach to grief, which i respected. if starmora had to get some sort canon send-off after one of them died, this was a pretty strong one to me.
the "you are 100% correct" part of this tweet with its implications for starmora was honestly never even part of my focus on or questions abt this tweet personally - it was the "real family" part that had me kinda ??????
bc i think that vibes kinda weirdly with the note the film ends on, since it seemed a lot more open-ended than gamora having a Real or Unreal family. and like i said before, it's the use of "real" here that sets up this binary of Real and Unreal Family or Real and Less Real family, and i think it's more than fair for gotg fans to not respond to the implied binary here very positively! and once we start connecting the irl dots of gunn's tweet with things like the gamora merch situation, the picture it starts to paint does not seem to favor gamora being A Member Of The GotG(TM)
but again, now that most of our gotg canon is done for good in the mainline mcu, i don't think we'll ever have a for-sure answer here one way or another, aside from whatever comes from peter's supposed future appearances

Weekend Top Ten #675
Top Ten DCEU Films (and One TV Programme)
Yay, I’m getting back to doing a simple list of films! I kind of prefer it when I just rank films; I feel I can speak a bit more knowledgably about it, get my thoughts across better. Even if I don’t think the lists themselves are quite as inspired, maybe, as when I ranked my favourite eggs. It is what it is.
Anyway, there is – sort of – a thematic reasoning going on here. Because this coming week sees the release of Creature Commandos, officially the first project from the new DC Studios, headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. This brand-new DCU will have a brand-new continuity of shared movies and TV programmes, and whilst things will really kick off next summer with the release of Gunn’s Superman (squee!), Commandos is the first proper glimpse we get into that universe. Now, I said “sort of” there because I don’t think Creature Commandos is actually going to be on British TV screens before Christmas; presumably it’ll end up on Sky like most other Warner Bros-affiliated shows, but there’s not been a sniff of a release date as of yet. However, I’m still going with it, especially as I only caught up on the last couple of DC movies fairly recently.
I say movies, but – as those of you who read the title will have guessed – I’m also including the one TV project set within the DCEU. I pondered its inclusion, whether to stick to films or not, but as it’s just one season of one show and the universe is – technically – over, I decided it was worth sticking in there. It is, after all, absolutely excellent (spoiler alert), so not featuring it felt weird and arbitrary. Words that can never be applied to any decision I make regarding these lists. Ahem.
I think, on the incredibly rare possibility that this list is widely-read, the shocking discovery will be the utter absence of any of Zack Snyder’s films. Snyder was the one who started the whole kit and kaboodle, and it was his tone, his aesthetic, his overall idea for the “spine” of the DCEU, that shaped its early years – for better or for worse. In my opinion, the core elements not just of individual characters but of the entire DC comics universe is so at odds with his personal flavour, I just can’t get on with his films. Like, at all. Man of Steel has some nice ideas and a really good grounded style, but it’s so miserable, so utterly un-wonderful, that it runs antithetical to everything I think about Superman as a character. It also has the same odd structural problems and pacing issues that all of his films have. Batman v Superman gives us some great comics-esque Batman fight sequences, and a really interesting take on Lex Luthor, but pisses it all away with edgelord grimdark 14-year-old-who-listens-to-Korn sensibilities (nothing wrong with Korn, by the way; maybe I should have said “Nick Cave” to show I wasn’t punching down but across). It’s the sort of supposedly hard-edged “kill the baby” thinking that you believe is mature and sophisticated as a teenager, before you realise that it’s just another form of childishness; it’s why I can’t get along with the majority of Mark Millar’s work. It’s using “darkness” as a substitute for “depth”, and that’s a fallacy. The two versions of Justice League both manage to be dreadful in entirely different ways; Snyder’s is technically “better” for the most part but it’s long and depressing, whereas Whedon’s is lighter and looser but basically feels like the pilot for a Justice League TV series, with TV-level visuals for the most part. But it doesn’t have that godawful black Superman suit, so probably on the whole I prefer it, even if it was apparently horrendously toxic to make.
Where were we?
Oh yeah, I was supposed to be celebrating instead of slagging off. Because all ten of these films (cough-nine-and-one-telly-cough) are genuinely good. Yes, good; not all of them are great, but most of them are very good. The DCEU did indeed achieve greatness, as hopefully I will convince you of momentarily; but on the whole most of their films were “okay!” or “better than you’d think!”. The two Aquaman films embody this most heartily I feel; they’re super-enjoyable to watch, utterly bananas, but I think if you were to recommend them to anyone you’d have to caveat them quite a bit.
In the end, I feel like the DCEU overcame a really tough stumble right out of the gates, in the face of entrenched opposition at the height of its powers (that’s the MCU, in case you hadn’t guessed), and with a revolving door of executives who seemed to want different things from their DC “properties”. Despite all of this, and despite lacking the clear guided direction that Marvel had from the start, they produced some absolute gems. From Diana discovering her powers to Harley discovering a sandwich, there was greatness here.
That black suit though. Ugh.
Tumblr media
Wonder Woman (2017): I would argue this is the only no-holds-barred unqualified success of the DCEU; the only film that scratches at five stars (on rewatches, I think the flaky ending dips it just short of masterpiece status). But the way Patty Jenkins crafts both the idyllic Themiscarian opening and the grit and grime of WWI is terrific; and the two leads are frankly outstanding. Gadot is adept at both the fish-out-of-water stuff and also being an all-conquering badass; Pine is effortlessly charming. When all else fades away, let’s remember this movie above all as an indication of what the DCEU could have been.
Peacemaker (2022): yep, here we go, I’m sticking one show in and it’s almost right at the top. As Marvel themselves have found, crafting a superhero TV show is tricky; Peacemaker avoids almost every trap. Each episode feels distinct with its own arc, but it also builds somewhere. There is oodles of character development and growth, and James Gunn does his usual schtick of giving us a bunch of divs and then slowly eking out their foibles until we fall in love. It’s dark, it’s vulgar, it’s violent, but it’s overflowing with heart, and it’s full of tremendous performances to boot.
The Suicide Squad (2021): Gunn is back again – which bodes well for the future of DC on screen, I guess. From the bombastic and outrageously violent opening onwards, we – once again – follow a group of bickering bell-ends until they turn into outright heroes and we love them to bits. The use of comedy makes the moments of misery and tragedy all the more redolent, and it makes absolutely superb use of DC lore.
Birds of Prey (2020): I genuinely don’t know what this is officially called now, so I’m going to skip any subtitles – you all know what film I mean. And this one is a gonzo delight; gritty, to a certain degree, but mostly just a wild and exuberant night out. Margot Robbie is outstanding as Harley, imbuing her with heart and warmth as well as an extravagant, violent mania; the rest of the Birds are well-cast with some standouts (Jolee Smollett as Black Canary should be brought back). It’s also incredibly funny.
Blue Beetle (2023): there’s no reason this should be as good as it is, but it manages to be the closest DC came to their own Spider-Man; Xolo Maridueña is terrific in the lead, and he’s apparently going to keep playing the character in the new DCU, so that’s good. But here we’ve got a fast-paced and funny young superhero origin, plus some cool action, and – again – great use of DC comics history.
Aquaman (2018): this one could have been tremendous, but it’s also a bit woolly and far too long. Discard all that, though, and you get an utterly madcap, bonkers thrill ride through an underwater kingdom that’s like nothing we’ve seen before. The visuals and imagination on display here are hilarious: this is a film which features an army of crab men, a mermaid girl in a mech suit, and Julie Andrews as a kaiju. And an octopus playing the drums. What’s not to love?
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023): suffers a bit next to its predecessor but is still a blast. The balance between character work and basically being a Saturday morning cartoon maybe skews too far one way; but Momoa in the lead and Patrick Wilson as brother/rival Orm are both great, and bounce off each other in fun ways. It’s even woollier than the first but there’s still something good beneath the CG surface.
The Flash (2023): I went into this one full of pessimism, mostly due to the off-screen complications and controversies. But, to be honest, it almost – almost – soars: Barry’s motivations and character are clearly outlined, and the potentially-complicated plot is concisely and entertainingly laid out. But once they bring out the big Bat-Guns, it starts to wobble; we lose sight of the funny centre of the film, and the whole mutliversal stuff that tops it off feels unearned and – frankly – really ugly to look at. So much potential, such a shame; but considering the hurdle it had to leap, it’s still damn good fun for most of its runtime.
Black Adam (2021): a film of two halves: there’s a weird twist on the fish-out-of-water genre with His Rockness as a taciturn and grumpy anti-hero. This is lacklustre; the Rock’s natural chemistry is smothered by trying to be this grim avenger. But! The Justice Society stuff is a goddamn hoot. When that team are on screen, it sings; more of them, please.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020): ah, god. The first film was stunning. This, sadly, struggles to find its identity and focus. The plot is woollier than an Edinburgh clothes shop; the MacGuffin is oddly defined; no one’s motivations make any sense. Frankly there aren’t enough cool action scenes. And what on Earth were they thinking with the whole “it’s Steve but not Steve really it’s some bloke” idea? The fact that it remains pretty enjoyable, that there’s enough to root for, is down once more to the chemistry of the leads and Jenkins’ assured way of handling a set piece. It’s okay. But it could have been so much more.
There we are; by number ten we’re already getting into “yeah I guess” territory. I feel a bit mean to Shazam!, which had a lot of fun moments and characters, but I’m not really in a mood to say nice things about Zachary Levi right now (and, genuinely, he’s the weak link in its sequel, with all the charisma and fun instead carried by Adam Brody). Also – sincerely – I think the tone of the film is weird, half kid-friendly comedy, half dark mystical drama.
But look: there was lots to like here. An octopus played the drums, people! What more do you want?!

“REGAN SAYS GUARDS BRUTAL 'SOMETHING IN IT’ - SEDGWICK,” Toronto Star. February 6, 1933. Page 30. ---- Conclude Special Investigation Into Death of Burwash Prisoner ==== COPY EVIDENCE ---- The admission that he thought there was some justice in Mr. Regan's claim that Frank Smith, ex-inmate who died on July 12 from broncho-pneumonia at the Burwash Industrial Farm. had been used. cruelly was openly made by Jos. Sedgwick, solicitor of the attorney-general's department. at the conclusion on Saturday afternoon of the special investigation into Smith's death.
"If the great feature of reforming Inmates at these institutions is going to be nullified by brutal guards, then It should be corrected at the earliest possible moment," submitted Frank Regan, counsel for Walter Lasher. ex-inmate hospital orderly, whose charges of cruelty caused the investigation.
On a day to be set after the evidence is transcribed, and a copy presented to him. Mr. Regan was promised, he is to have a chance to give. his interpretation and make suggestions.
A surprise late on Saturday at the final sitting was the statement of Dr. D. R. Gunn, the physician at Burwash. that he may have been wrong. when he announced earlier that Lasher's temperature and pulse record book was destroyed. It was from this book that the nurse made her official clinical charts. upon which the Burwash authorities depended principally in the investigation to show that Smith was given proper medical treatment. Accordingt o Dr. Gunn. the book may still be at the prison camp.
“What significance would there be in not producing it,” inquired Sedgwick. ‘Well, the clinical charts were made from this book of mine by the nurse,’ replied Lasher.
It was a surprise to the investigators, also, to learn that progress reports were often made up after the patient had left the hospital, and, sometimes, not at all.
Not Kept In Bed Mr. Regan, towards the conclusion, also challenged the treatment of Smith in allowing him to get up out of bed and go for an X-ray treatment when he had broncho-pneumonia.
"Do you think he should be allowed to get up and go to the bathroom. Do you think that's proper treatment for a man when he had broncho-penumonia to your knowledge." "At that time I thought. there was no contra-indication," replied Dr. Gunn,
"But you knew he had broncho-pneumonia.
"I thought it was all right for Frank Smith to go," said the doctor.
"Because you thought he was malingering."
"Why didn't you contradict Lasher when he told the superintendent you didn't write an order in the book? and you didn't say a word."
"I would have if the superintendent had asked me."
"And yet you want us to believe you did write orders in that book?’ Yes."
"And yet you sat there and listened to serious allegations regarding your professional integrity and you didn't deny it or ask for the book to be produced?"
"Mr. Oliver accepted my word?" suggested the doctor.
"Did you tell the superintendent you wrote orders In the book?" asked Mr. Sedgwick. "No," replied Dr. Gunn.
“The superintendent accepted Lasher's word," declared Mr. Regan.
"Do you think a man with pneumonia should be forced to take several quarts of milk and some egg nogs a day" asked Mr. Regan.”Yes,’ said the doctor.
"Is Lasher right when he said he gave the man the digitalis on his own initiative" "Yes, that's perfectly true
When Doctors Disagree "And Lasher is right when he says you stopped it after Dr. Cook had said it was all right?" "Yes," said the doctor.
"You never mentioned digitalis to Dr. Cook?" "No. It just came up casually. Dr. Cook said it would be all right and I ordered it. I put down fifteen minims on the order book every four hours."
“Those are the pages of the order book missing?” “Yes." Dr. Gunn stated that he stopped it later because he did not consider it necessary.
"Dr. Cook suggested it would do no harm to use digitalis," said Dr. Gunn again.
"So that is the principle on which you used it: that it would do no harm?” asked Mr. Regan. "That's the first principle of prescribing medicine." "Doctor, you tell us that this temperature book of Lasher's which is becoming more and more important. was destroyed. Who destroyed it?"
The doctor started to answer at length. The commissioner instructed it was a fair question.
“You said it was a book destroyed because it had only duplications, do you know who destroyed it?” "I was talking to Cameron Hayes yesterday and he gave me to understand that it was not destroyed."
"Where is it?" "Up at the farm, I guess." "I'd like to have that book produced. Why wasn't It brought down?”
“My answer is that it wasn't an official record." "You have no reason to doubt its correctness?" "No." "But no official records are made from it," emphasized the doctor.
"No: but official records are made from it," said Mr. Regan. "Yes."
Questioned about Lasher's charge that Dr. Gunn did not apply any death tests to the dead man Smith, Dr. Gunn denied it and told about testing eyes and looking at the veins of the neck, as well as other ordinary tests.
“Was his head swollen up?" "No, I didn't observe it." said the doctor.
"Well, Lasher said his head was all swollen up." countered Mr. Regan.
Claims Easton Knew "Easton saw it," ejaculated Lasher to his counsel.
“Yet if you examined his eyes, as you say you did, you must have seen it?”  declared Mr. Regan.
Quoting from a morning paper that Investigating solicitor had come to the conclusion that because most of the 41 prisoners who gave evidence at the Burwash sitting of the inquiry had used almost the identical language, and had, therefore, drawn the remark from Mr. Sedgwick that their authenticity was doubtful, Mr. Regan protested that the guard had said only a few words in such tones that it would be impressed upon the men.
Mr. Sedgwick emphasized that this was not his attitude at all.
Mr. Regan finally waived going to Burwash to examine Sergt. Vincent and Nurse Evelyn Loper, and it was agreed that he would be given a transcription of the evidence after it was copied, and have a chance on some day afterwards, set by the commissioner, to present his interpretation of the facts and make suggestions to the commissioner.
"I think the condition will be commented on by the commissioner in his report,” said Mr. Sedgwick, regarding Mr. Regan's submission that cruelty had been used by Sergt. Vincent and others towards Smith. "I think there's something in it," said Mr. Sedgwick.
"People are supposed to be sent to these institutions for the purpose of reform." emphasized Mr. Regan, "After all, no nation can survive if is not administered justly impartially. If the feature of reform is going to be nullified in these institutions by the guards, it should be corrected at the earliest possible moment. The reformatory feature, I submit, depends upon the character of the guards. If we have brutal guards, then the character of penal institutions will go by the board."

Hi again, fellow Buffyverse (and Cangel and Fred/Gunn!) fan :) Fun challenge for you: 1. Five reasons why you prefer Cangel to Bangel 2. Five reasons you prefer Spuffy to Bangel 3. Five reasons you prefer Fred/Gunn to Fresley! As always, I can't wait to read your answers!
Alrighty, *cracks knuckles*! Sorry this took days, I'm off and on tumblr sporadically + gathering thoughts
1. Five reasons why you prefer Cangel to Bangel
* They became their best selves together. She had the idea for Angel Investigations and kept him on track (I mean, look at him in S5...lol) while maturing and finding her own self and purpose in the process.
* All the sweet little ways they care for each other. Buying Angel art supplies because she thinks he's depressed. Trying to mix things up by putting cinnamon in this blood. Angel making her eggs. Leaving her favorite magazines on her desk for when she came back to work. And he knew her style enough to buy her tons of new clothes. Compared to giving Buffy a book for her birthday LOL.
* How Cordelia made Angel lighter. She supported him but also didn't let him go full brood mode. Always got a smile or laugh out of him.
* They have a role in each other's current lives, their own normal. With Bangel, their relationship is in this obscure future where Angel is rewarded his humanity and can finally with Buffy. With Cangel, there's an actual friendship and partnership between them. They/their lives don't need to be normal to work.
2. Five reasons you prefer Spuffy to Bangel
* Spike loves all sides of Buffy, light and dark. Fighting evil or drunk haha. There's no pressure or expectation for her to be a certain way. A freedom she doesn't fully have even when it comes to her friends.
* Their dynamic. It was always shifting and each phase was so interesting. They're so insightful of the other to the point of pushing buttons. By the end I think they met in the middle with Buffy making peace with some of her darkness and Spike having to step up into her light a little. Whereas Bangel is kind of eternally stuck where they left off whenever they interacted.
* There were several events leading up that made their journey from enemies to friendship/love make sense. We saw them forced to work together. Spike protecting her family. Working with the scoobies. Growing trust and friendship in S7 etc. With Bangel, after a handful of episodes they were in love. We never really got much out of their relationship besides the crying over why they couldn't/shouldn't be in one. They had to either be together or stay away from each other.
* And now for the very superficial, they're freakin' hot together. I mean, they banged down a house. lol
A 5th reason for both:
* They're a better fit/balance. As a team or a couple. With Bangel, they have all this angst about being a slayer/atoning for past evil and as couple seemed to remind each other of the life they can never have because of it. With Spuffy, Spike's got his own can't be a man, can't be a monster issue, but it furthers his understanding of Buffy. And like Cordelia with Angel, he pulls her out of the wallow of it, offering a different perspective (like in Touched).
Cordelia with her visions, gives Angel a connection to the world and together they fight the smaller battles for the people in it. While Spike's personality fits more with Buffy fighting the big bads and saving the world.
3. Five reasons you prefer Fred/Gunn to Fresley!
Honestly I don't have huge reasons for my preference. I just thought they were so cute and like the contrast of the muscle / the brain. We saw a softer side of Gunn and fiercer side of Fred.
Also I think I accidentally forgot S1 of BtVS on my ranking lol. So it's 5, 3 (tie), 2, 1 ( 1 & 2 kind of tie with 1 slightly in lead as it's my go to for cheer up buffy watches), 7, 4

How I’d write a Buffy/Angel spinoff!
I still say the best spinoff they could possibly ever make would be all the Chosen Slayers getting deactivated, then Buffy and a Shanshu'd Angel (IMO, this plot really would only work with Angel, because it actually matches his story arc, not Spike's, to want a human life and fatherhood) have a daughter who grows up not knowing the truth about her parents (and half-brother!) until it's forced to come out.
I would particularly note that the first thing that happens to newly-called Slayers is their prophetic dreams. If ever there was a way to start breaking secrets to this new heroine that also serves as flashback exposition featuring the old shows, this seems custom-built for it. It’s exposition for the audience that never saw the old shows as well as an introduction to a key Slayer ability, but most importantly, it’s personal family revelations that go far deeper than historical flashbacks of unrelated persons or monsters that mean nothing personal. These would be scandalous secrets for a baby Slayer, given Buffy was the rule-breaking Slayer who is most famous for having romantic relationships with the very creatures she’s supposed to slay. Angelus would be the worst family secret of all! This story has all the makings of an existential crisis before acceptance. That would also be a good place to drop in Connor’s history. Buffy never actually got to react to that bombshell either, so that would be an interesting drama with her, as well. Buffy and Angel both tended to feature heavily in prophetic dreams, so it also just feels right to continue that.
If there's some reason why David Boreanaz (who, let's face it, is really not getting younger and SEAL Team can't go on forever) can't or is unwilling to appear, one could have an explanation that Wolfram & Hart has had him trapped in a holding dimension for years as punishment.
You could even build an arc around that with Buffy or the daughter trying to find him. Basically, a kind way of explaining Angel's absence if necessary and Buffy unfortunately having to mirror her single mother (which was a fear of hers), despite it being no fault of Angel's. It would be yet more cruelty for him to miss out on yet another child growing up, which would be a dramatic plot point itself. It could actually become a story where he does matter quite a lot, despite initial absence or mystery.
An even bigger shock than mom having Slayer superpowers and a world full of supernatural forces would be a reveal that dad is a 394+-year-old (depends on if you count hell--in a modern-day spinoff, Angel is rapidly approaching 400 years!) ex-vampire.
The most interesting and fitting story you could ever do with a maturing Buffy would be having her be a mother and trying to have a normal life.
This would also give Sarah Michelle Gellar a starring role that allows her to be age-appropriate, yet also having a younger generation that the original audience can still care about because she isn't completely divorced from the two previous shows in the way that an unrelated Slayer spinoff would be. It allows the core storylines of *both* shows to truly matter, far more than a Buffy Steele-Gunn offspring would.
---
Just a a few notes about my pitch for a continuation that works with the real ages of actors and their availability... I should also note that Xander (played by Nick, anyway--Kelly might work for a flashback) is a character who could never appear in live-action again, so maybe he could be used as another event that contributed to Buffy's retirement besides pregnancy.
If the Shanshu and conception were directly post-NFA, any offspring would be 16 years old right now. IMO, if there were any plans to give SMG a series with her in a major supporting role, this just means that the space for how long between NFA and the Shanshu or how long Bangel got to be with each other widens for however many years it would take to revive the franchise.
I strongly believe that the best option for the franchise would be a back-to-the-suburbs story exploring age-appropriate Buffy facing motherhood, rather than trying to turn Buffy into a war general surrounded by nothing but subordinates (horribly alienating future for her) with a lack of equals or a grounded setting Ă  la the season 8 comics. If you want to introduce the Buffyverse to a new audience whom you can't expect to watch 24-year-old shows until they're interested enough by the revival, you're going to have to ground characters in a relatable reality.
As for how a new Slayer would be called after deactivation, I firmly believe the line is through Faith now anyway, so it would just take her dying for a minute Ă  la Prophecy Girl for a new Slayer to be called. I would definitely want Faith in the show!
--- Facebook discussion
I feel like SMG's concern was less wanting to reprise the role entirely, but more concern that she'd be expected to play the same exact role in her 40s. This is giving her a role that fits a woman (and a mother in real life) who is in her 40s and is a major supporting role rather than he young lead whose story is being centered on.
As for the Angel situation, SMG might actually be more willing to return if she could beg DB to come back for perhaps an initially-limited role and the scenario is one I believe she'd actually support, as it fits with her preferences!
While it might seem that Buffy as a single mother retreads the original, Angel is obviously nothing like the Hank situation (not to mention Joyce and Hank being completely clueless), so the circumstances of the father would be quite different from Buffy's own situation, while also feeding into her own stated fears about her future.
This also brings up all the conversations in Bad Eggs, The Prom and the Chosen cookie dough analogy (children are mentioned again) to the forefront. Unlike with the other options, it was something that came up repeatedly. Admittedly, it was always by Angel due to his infertility and the human life he most desired; all of which ended up being an important part of *his* story.
However, a part of Bad Eggs that is woefully underrated is that Buffy was disappointed when Angel told her vampires can't have children. She immediately covers it up with a babble speech and then starts making excuses for why Slayers are unlikely to have that kind of future. Young Buffy did not disregard it because she didn't want children ever at all, but because the person whom she saw that future with was someone who couldn't have them.
Enter Nikki Wood, where Buffy learns that at least one Slayer was definitely a mother, which she was clearly surprised by.
That's another reason why I can see Buffy, if she got her hopes up with post-Shanshu Angel and conceived, would do anything to be a good mom by not being all about "the mission". She would never want her child to be raised without parents. And I think she'd be doubly sensitive to that, not just because of Nikki, but because of Hank leaving and Joyce dying.
Buffy also became surrogate mother to Dawn, who was made out of her (in a sense, she is her real mother), so Angel's situation with Connor actually had a direct mirror in Buffy's situation with Dawn.
But those conversations were also not just about wished-for children that couldn't be conceived, but also asking Buffy to think about what she wants for her future if she took out the belief that Slayers don't live long enough to have one.
This show would be the answer to what happens to a Slayer when she does live long enough to have the future she barely wanted to get her hopes up for before.
Buffy (ditto Angel) is the character for which this story actually has a ton of setup in the shows themselves. These characters talked about it! And the circumstances are really nothing like Joyce and Hank, even if the initial setup plays into both Buffy and Angel's worst nightmare scenarios about parenthood: being a single mother and not getting to raise the miracle child you thought you'd never have. That kind of bittersweet writing that shirks too-good-to-be-true wish-fulfillment is a cornerstone of what makes it a Buffyverse storyline. If the daughter's family lied to her about their history to keep her safe and protect her from knowing what goes bump in the night (making them the polar opposites of Hank and Joyce in regards to knowing all too well--especially Angel's experience of being the worst thing you could bump into at night, rather than utterly clueless), that would certainly be a conflict. Especially if she found out in a particularly shocking way (say, prophetic dreams). And if Angel (I'd like to imagine he has the company of ghost!Wesley and maybe Illyria and Spike) has been taken for punishment by Wolfram & Hart, it might really confuse her if she doesn't know that he didn't just leave or some other excuse Buffy covered it up with. Wolfram & Hart would also probably love the irony of Angel getting what he most desires (to be human and a father), only to punish him with it by wasting his remaining years separated from all that he loves.

Walter x Axel Dieter Jr x Fabian Aichner x Female Reader (Nicknamed ‘Hase’) Mob AU! Rating: Mature (Minors DNI) Word Count: 1848 Warnings: Very tiny bit of angst and a whole lot of smut. It’s a foursome my dudes, oral (female and male receiving), fingering, PiV, cum play. Summary: Walter has some secretive business and Hase is not happy. A/N: Well, blame this lmao. Pt.01 | Pt.02 | Pt.03 | Pt.04 | Pt.05 | Pt.06
Things with Walter has been going great after he came to Miami to be with us. The business is once again thriving and my counselling work with them was downgraded to a two day of the week thing. Walter says it is better for me to focus on the record store and that he worries about me after the whole Bobby Gunns incident, which, very reluctantly, I agree with him and decided to not argue about it.
The record store was going great, to my surprise. With the resurgence of vinyls and cassette tapes, the store became a hit with the locals and a must go to for the tourists. I am lucky to have built a trusty team to work with me and to have Shotzi as my manager, best friend and confident.
Today was another busy day at the store until Walter FaceTimed me.
“Hi, honey.” I greeted him, he smiled at me but had a serious face on. I knew something was happening. “Is everything ok? Why are you in your car?”
“Hi, love. Everything is fine, I’ve got some business to make and I need you to close the store.”
“Walter! The store is full,” I changed the camera for him to see, “I can’t just close it like this.”
“Yes you can. Ask Shotzi for help.”
“Walter, is this another Bobby thing?”
“Hase...” He sighed, running his free hand through his face, “No, I don’t think so. It’s just a precaution thing. Close the store, tell everyone to go home. Go home. Axel and Fabian are there. I love you.”
He turned the call off before I could even say goodbye.
I made some lame excuse about urgent family matters but Shotzi got right away what was happening, and helped me with the customers, who were understanding enough.
Getting home was nerve wrecking. I found Axel and Fabian arguing in german in the living room, about how stupid Walter was to go where he went alone. I couldn’t help myself and barged in on their conversation.
“What do you mean with Walter going alone? Where are Tim and Alex?”
“In the office.” Fabian blurted out getting a slap on the head from Axel and a “Dude”.
“Where did he go?”
Silence
“Who is he making business with?”
Silence
“Why did he make me close the store?”
Silence
“Fine, since you want to treat me like a child, I’ll just throw a tantrum like one until I get my answers.”
Three crystal vases, one guitar, a Matisse painting, Axel and Fabian shouting, asking me to stop as I made my way to Walter’s Farbegé eggs collection, and grabbed one. Raising my hand, I asked “Are you telling me where he is?”.
When they were about to open their mouths to answer, I felt a presence behind me, his hand softly engulfing mine, taking the egg away from me.
“Hase, was ist das?”
“Where were you?” I asked as I turned to face him.
“You need to calm down, Hase.” Walter said and gave me the look. The look he would always give me when he knew I wanted to hook up with Tim. “She needs to relax, boys.” with that, I felt Fabian’s and Axel’s presence circle behind me.
“Yeah, I need to relax.” I said smiling. See, Walter and I have talked about this several times before but never made a move to invite them over. I guess he was saving it for a special moment, i.e., when he fucked up like he just did.
Walter kissed me, and I felt a new pair of lips on my neck. Fabian’s. Just as soft as I always imagined it would be. Axel was getting eager behind me, squeezing my ass and nudging Fabian so he could get a little bit of me for himself. Laughing at his antics, I disentangled myself from Walter’s hold on me and turned around to meet the blonde man.
“Always so needy, huh Axel?”
“The only needy hure here is you, babe.” he got back at me as I took his lips in mine.
A few minutes later and Walter instructed us to take it to our bedroom, making a show of carrying me bride style as the boys followed behind. He helped me take off my sundress and took his shirt off, lying in bed and positioned me between his legs, making me use him as a pillow. Axel didn’t waste any time, took his clothes off and laid between my legs, eating me out. Fabian was shy, having only taken off his shirt and was fumbling with his belt.
“Come here, don’t be nervous.” I tried to calm him down.
“Are you sure it’s ok?” he asked, his hands holding my hair into a ponytail as I took his pants and underwear down in one swift move. His cock was beautiful. Average length, thick and girthy. I let him have his way with me. He was slow, too careful, as if I were some sort of porcelain doll that would break if not handled well. Walter noticed his hesitation and pushed my head forward. “She likes it rough, fuck her face.” I smiled as wide as I could with Fabian’s thick meat buried in my mouth. Walter’s words awakened something inside of him and his actions took a 180 turn. His hips started pistoning, fast and rough, hitting the back of my throat each time. Axel got faster too, sucking my clit and fingering me like there was no tomorrow. All of this combined with Walter’s big figure behind me, holding me, caressing my breasts, and kissing my neck while he sang his praises to me was enough to make me cum in no time. I had to push Fabian away so I wouldn’t choke on his dick as my orgasm took over my body.
“Are you ok?” Fabian asked worried.
“FUCK! Yeah, I’m good.” all I could do was nod and laugh, asking them to wait a little.
Walter noticed that Axel was grabbing a condom, and quickly intervened. “Axel, up here. Let Fabian do it.”
“But? Why? I want-“ Axel started to protest but Walter was fast to dismiss his complaints.
“This is about her, about what she wants, not you. You already made her cum once, let Fabian do it. Besides, Tim is not going to be happy if he finds out Fabian touched her, let him have this one, Ax, he probably won’t have another chance.” Fabian tensed and I laughed, murmuring “I’m sorry” to him.
“Fine” said a very reluctant Axel, throwing the closed condom to Fabian.
“Don’t be a piss baby, Axel. I’ll let you cum in my face.” I told him and got a very excited smiled in return.
Meanwhile, Fabian was lining himself in my entrance, slowly inserting his cock in my pussy, getting used to it.
“She’s really tight, isn’t she?” Walter asked behind me and Fabian eagerly nodded back.
His thrusts got faster quickly and his thumb never left my clit.
“Come ‘ere” I asked Axel, taking his cock into my mouth. Walter took it in his hands to help me, moving my head up and down Ax’s dick, the motion and sensations making him cum in record time. Following what I had promised him, he was quick enough to pull out and come on my face and tits. Fabian and I didn’t last much longer, the way he filled me up and how he thrust in me sent me into over drive, the second orgasm stronger than the first, my walls squeezing him so hard that he came too.
I was too weak to say anything and Walter knowing how I usually get, told the boys to leave us alone.
He kept holding me, shushing me and rubbing random shapes on my stomach until my breathing evened out.
“Are you ok?”
“Mhm” was all I could say, blissed out.
“Did you enjoy it?” he kissed my forehead.
“Yeah, I loved it. But there’s just one thing missing.”
“What is it?”
“You.”
“Hase, you’re worn out. We can do it later.”
“No, now.” I whined. “I can feel how hard you are on my back.”
“Fine, get up.” I did as he told me, lying stomach down as soon as he was off the bed. Walter grabbed a pillow and put it under my stomach to make it more comfortable for the both of us.
As always, he started slow, kissing the whole expanse of my back, my ass and slapped it, kneading it as he made his way inside me. He was relentless, fast, and rough, making me cum even faster. He kept fucking me through my orgasm, the way my walls squeezed around him made him slow down a bit, the sensation so out of this world that a fourth wave came, bringing Walter to the edge with me this time.
His knees gave in and he fell on top me, laughing. We stayed like that for a few minutes, until he asked if I wanted him to run us a bath, to which I agreed to. He was gentle when he took me off the bed, helping me walk slowly to our suite’s bathroom. He made sure to clean my face of Axel’s remains before we got in on the tub, with him behind me once again.
“Are you happy?” he asked
“I am. Will be even more if you tell me where you went alone today that made me close the shop.” I pressed on. He sighed in defeat and answered me.
“I had a meeting with Malcolm Bivens.”
“You had a meeting with Malcolm Bivens?! Alone?! Walter, what the fuck?!” I shouted.
“Hase, calm down. It’s fine. I’m here in one piece, aren’t I?”
“Well, but you couldn’t be. You were worried enough to call me and asked me to close the store! What do you want with him anyway?”
“Did you know he’s like, this really tiny guy? I thought I was going to meet this huge man that was stronger than me but no, very tiny guy. Looks like a little ant.” “Walter...” I sighed “He’s still dangerous.”
“Yeah, but don’t worry. I found out him and Tim worked together before Tim went to Germany and they ended things in good terms. I offered him an alliance. That Karrion Kross guy is trying to expand his business and thinks he is a threat to us. With Malcolm’s support, we are bigger and stronger than ever, Kross will think twice before trying anything.”
I looked up at him, his eyes were closed and a relaxed smile on his face. I kissed him and laid my head back down on his chest.
“Next time just tell me where you’re going, ok?”
“Why? So you are worried about me?”
“I was worried today and you saw what happened. Next time, you will tell me, ok?”
“Yeah, ok.” he gave in.
“Good. I need to clean the mess I made in the living room.”
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll help you, liebe. Now relax.”

WB is the worst when it comes to DC. It's no coindence that Constantine is leaving 'Legends of Tomorrow" in the wake of the upcoming HBO Max show. And this pandemic ruined a lot of plans. As you said "BL" wasn't meant to be in the Arrowverse put when it happened they were all gung-ho for it. They had plans for Jeff to visit Central City and for Anissa and Grave to chill in Gotham. But then the pandemic and whatever BTS drama that got "BL" canned. Like *something* happened. It got an early renewal in Jan then it was cancelled in Nov. And CW didn't even bother to have proper trailers for new episodes. Don't tell me somebody on the show didn't rub the network the wrong way to result in that level of pettiness
Yeah, WB isn't just the worst with DC, but really the worst with favoritism in my personal opinion
They tried so hard to make the DC streaming service a huge success but as soon as they saw it wasn't going to be they got rid of everything like it was on fire, HBO Max is the new golden child so they're cutting their own throats in other areas to make it succeed- IE: Theaters
My poor Suicide Squad 2 ;_; no I won't say "my THE Suicide Squad" it won't roll off the tongue it was a sacrificial lamb to the damn streaming service :(
I know it's an unpopular opinion to not be all over streaming but they're really clearly cutting way more than just corners in order to feed that specific beast and try to make it compete with Disney+, that's why they're starting to draw the string on the Arrowverse :/ The same thing happened, I think, with the DC streaming service though, when they saw that the biggest success of DC was the Arrowverse, they decided to pull their dying streaming service as well as the DCEU into it to pump the Arrowverse up more, now that the Arrowverse is starting to go under- with three shows being gone, Batwoman being in questionable territory, and the two biggest successes of the year being largely disjointed from it (Superman and Stargirl), I think they're going to try to scramble it like eggs :/ They're doing the same with the DCEU to a degree though, by having loosely connected stories that do more universe hopping and tone changes (IE: Joker coming out just months before Birds Of Prey and having been preceeded by Shazam!) I think since they're seeing more promise in that approach right now for the movies, they might be trying to do the same for TV- or they're just trying to let the Arrowverse die of neglect so they can pump up HBO Max like you said
Ofcourse now that WB has been bought by Discovery, we might get some big changes to this; Discovery already said they wanted to pour seven BILLION dollars into DC properties specifically in the first year alone, and I know the rumor is that they're only going to try to gloss up DC so that they can sell the assets to the highest bidders once their "probation" period ends but like.... seven billion is a hell of alot of gloss..... and if they can start pulling in more numbers like Joker, Superman & Lois, and The Suicide Squad (wich may have not been a huge hit at the box office but wich reportedly smashed the HBO Max numbers enough that WB is circling James Gunn like a starving shark), then I have a hard time believing they'd be wanting to get rid of it, especially when, let's face it, DC is easily the most well known and most marketable asset Discovery has ever had and probably ever will have purely because of Superman alone, you can't find a person anywhere who hasn't atleast heard of Superman, regardless of how much the film properties are hit-and-miss financially, I have a hard time believing anyone would just throw that kind of name power to the wolves....
But onto Black Lightning, I actually have a pretty strong theory about that one
I'm almost certain that China Anne McClain is why the show was canned
And do not get me wrong, I don't mean that in a snippy way, but China quit Black Lightning pretty urgently- to the point that she only wanted to do limited episodes for the final season
Backing up a moment here though, let me explain why I think this was the nail-in-the-coffin
Black Lightning was very quickly becoming centered around Lightning specifically
That doesn't mean to say that it wasn't still Jefferson's story and that Anissa wasn't still important, but Jennifer was getting set up to be The Powerhouse of the show, with the bulk of the drama probably surrounding her and the thought of her potentially taking on her father's mantel
It seemed like the idea of Black Lightning retiring or atleast putting on the suit a little less was starting to become a thing, and with Jefferson firmly accepting his daughters as part of the world of Metas at that point, that would have lead to Anissa and Jennifer taking much more of the spotlight than they had in the beginning- that's a natural progression of things, and although I actually prefer Anissa's storyline (it's just more my personal cup of tea), I will readily admit that Jennifer was the one who had the ability to carry an entire season's worth of story on her shoulders.... not so much Anissa, who has her wife (so romantic subplots are pretty toned down), her powers are developed and stable (nothing quite like the learning curves Jennifer was facing), she has a stable job and a stable superhero identity- two, in fact-, so no literal schoolyard drama or issues with "Am I in my father's shadow? Is this how the world sees me and do I want them to see me this way?" much like what Jennifer was starting to experience in the end of the show either
TLDR Anissa mostly had her shit together, wich is great for her, but it doesn't lend to being able to carry the most dramatic storylines like it does with Jennifer, who's still figuring out pretty much everything
I think Jennifer was already starting to take a very large amount of the story as of the last season and even starting to steal the spotlight before that, if they were to come back for more I feel like she would have been in a place of being much more obviously groomed to take on the main charector status wile Jefferson stepped back just a little bit to be more supportive to her journey instead of the other way around
And the show could still exist very much as Jefferson's story wile that story happened to center on Jennifer
.....Buuuuuuuuuuuuut that's where the problem comes in
China said before the show was cancelled that she was going to step down from playing Lightning because she wanted to focus on her faith more and be removed from anything that wasn't "in service to God", wich is totally fine for her, but it does put Black Lightning in a bit of a difficult position because the charector they were gearing up to make their breakout star was suddenly going to either have to pull a Winn and just... be.... gone.... or have to get recast
To be entirely honest, I'm not sure why they didn't stick with the recasting instead, I thought Laura Karuki did a fantastic job as Jennifer and the "Am I Jennifer or am I JJ?" story would have been a great thing to explore for an entire season, but if I had to guess, they maybe just didn't want to mess with it?
Black Lightning had good numbers but it wasn't in the top five or anything to my recollection, not since it's premiere season anyway, and it could have been a compound decision of "We weren't going to keep this up much longer anyway so let's just take this as a sign to wrap it up", although I think that the way the recast was done could have presented a stable option for them if they had decided to give it a go for a full season, although maybe that's just my opinion and they initially made the recast so that the people behind the curtain could see if Laura would work well enough as Jennifer and when they decided that the vibe wasn't right they went on ahead and pulled the plug rather than risk getting the same um... resistance.... than Batwoman met over their recasting choices
Although I could go on for days about why that situation is different (to be clear: I do like Ryan quite alot but I don't think the Batwoman situation was nearly as seamless as Black Lightning's in terms of recasts, but that's another story for another day)
TLDR I think if China had stayed aboard they would have gone on for atleast another season or two, but there are some shows where members of an ensemble cast are so essential that their leaving is too big of a blow to stay through
It's much like when Dylan O'Brien had to bow out of Teen Wolf for a little wile, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a fan who absolutely loved season six, and even before that people were having a hard time staying with a lack of Tyler Hoechlin, with some even stepping away when Crystal Reed left, even though- at both of those points- most of the core cast was still there and at no point did the titular main ever leave, I feel like Black Lightning's situation is very similar, people were just too invested in Jennifer

PMB Favorites: My Favorite Albums of 2020
2020 was largely year of changes that brought on a heightened sense of stress and anxiety in my life (and a lot of peoples lives as well) but when I needed it music was there to provide escapism or to color the grim and uncertain mood the year tended to bring. Here are the albums that were the soundtrack to my 2020(In no particular order). I welcome all musical recommendations.
Tumblr media
. Squarepusher- Be Up, Hello: Squarepusher returned early in 2020 with a hard-hitting drum and bass album, filled with bright textures and poly-rhythms. The albums both exhilarating and intense listen at times. Love “Speedcrank” and “Voltrack”
Tumblr media
Oneohtrix Point Never- Magic Oneohtrix Point Never: Released in the 4th quarter of the year Oneohtrix Point Never came through with an album strongly inspired by his love of radio growing up Magic 106.7 to be specific. The result is an album of diverse styles of pop, rock, hip-hop etc blended into the plunder-phonics that Oneohtrix fans have come to know, great project.
Tumblr media
Lady Gaga- Chromatica: Chromatica is Lady Gaga's triumphant return to dance-pop after getting personal with Joanne (2016) and doing the Star is Born soundtrack. Chromatica, like Gaga's early work, is packed with hits and catchy tunes, i.e., the Ariana Grande assisted "Rain on Me" and "Stupid love," a great pop album and one of my favorite albums from Lady Gaga thus far.
Tumblr media
TOPS-I Feel Alive: Tops are a band that has been progressing with each release. This album is a beautiful mix of indie-pop/dream pop that features the summery title track and the brisk synth-driven "Colder and Closer." It is one of the better indie-pop releases this year.
Tumblr media
Dream Wife-So When You Gonna...”:  Dream Wife typically has a high octane and raucous sound. So When You Gonna... calms things down a bit. They go more in-depth on this project with songs about keeping sexual agency, not seeking validation from others, and staying true to yourself. It has nearly the energy of their previous self titled LP but with lyrical depth.
Tumblr media
Hinds-The Prettiest Curse: Hinds have gotten better with every album. The Prettiest Curse is their best thus far. The Prettiest Curse finds them expanding their sound with more lavish production and some synth-pop in there to go along with their garage rock sound. A few Great tracks on here but "Good Bad Times" and "Take Me Back" are amongst my favorites.
Tumblr media
Nas- King’s Disease: Nas's Kings Disease maybe the best Nas release since at least Untitled and probably since the early 00s. A lot of that has to do with producer Hit-Boy who provided Nas the canvas to create a wise and timely album. "Ultra Black," "Til the War is Won" with Lil Durk, and "10 Points" are amongst my favorites on the album.
Tumblr media
Westside Gunn- Pray for Paris: Griselda Records was dominant in 2020. Westside Gunn is a big part of that in that he released two great albums this year. The first of which was the menacing but luxurious Pray for Paris. The beats are hard and classy, and Westside's rhymes are both street and opulent/artful. "$500 Ounces", "Shawn vs. Flair," "George Bando," and "327″ are essential.
Tumblr media
Westside- Gunn- Who Made The Sunshine: The second great album by Westside was Who Made The Sunshine. This album is a darker ominous project that sounds like quintessential Griselda. Built for grey skies and dark times, it was great on overcast days late this year. "The Butcher and the Blade," "98 Sabers and "All Praises" are my favorites on this one.
Tumblr media
Conway The Machine- From a King to a God:  Conway The Machine's From a King to a God may be the best album from the camp this year. It's an album that spans both street tales, introspection, and some social commentary. It's also found Conway getting as personal as he's gotten any album thus far. The album features high-level production from Hit-Boy, Daringer, DJ Premier, etc. "Spurs 3″, "Dough & Damani", are my favorites here.
Tumblr media
Benny The Butcher-Burden of Proof: Rounding out the Griselda releases to make my 2020 favorites is Benny The Butcher's Burden of Proof. Burden of Proof is handled 100% by Hit-Boy, who gives Benny's hard-nosed rhymes a bit of pristine sheen without taking anything away from Benny's style. There's no real reaching here, and it ends up being an album that shows Benny can be versatile. "One Way Flight," "Timeless," "War Paint," and "Legend" rank amongst my favorites on the album.
Tumblr media
Freddie Gibbs- Alfredo:  Been following Freddie Gibbs since Pinata with Madlib in 2014, and it seems as though he hasn't missed since. I loved his 2019 project Bandanna, and Alfredo is another excellent project. Alchemist handles the production here and does a great job providing a backdrop for Freddie's fluid and vivid rhymes. There's the measured reminiscing of "Babies & Fools," the soaring "1985″, the shadowy menace of "God is Perfect," essential hip-hop listens for 2020.
Tumblr media
Royce Da 5′9-Allegory: Royce Da 5′9 follows up his excellent Book of Ryan (not to mention PRhyme with DJ Premier) with Allegory. While his last album was decidedly a personal effort, this one finds him using his lyrical gymnastics on being the best and spitting knowledge on what's going on in rap and in general. "I Play Forever," "Tricked," "Overcomer" are the favorites here.
Tumblr media
Princess Nokia- Everything is Beautiful: Everything is Beautiful is in my opinion, the better of two albums; Princess Nokia released in the early part of 2020, an album that finds Princess Nokia reflecting on what made her coming up in her childhood. Elastic flows and charisma with eclectic production from the likes of Adam Pallin and Tony Seltzer. Favorite cuts on this are "Green Eggs and Ham," "Wash and Sets," and "The Conclusion."
Tumblr media
Logic-No Pressure:  Logic came full circle on this album from 2014 Under Pressure to his current and (for now) final release No Pressure. No Pressure may be his best album. It's consistent all the way through, it wears its influences on its sleeve than previous albums, and it's not a knee-jerk reaction album done based on what people want from him, and it's not corny. It feels closest to pure Logic that sounds like he's just spitting about where he's at in life(dadbod) and finding peace within himself. I love this LP.
Tumblr media
Jeezy- Recession 2: Jeezy's one of those rappers that is just solid, you know what to expect, thunderous beats, hood motivation music. Even still, Jeezy's music continues to mature as he does, touching on the ills of the ghetto, police brutality, and putting your monetary priorities in the right place. "Modern Day," "Back," "Almighty Black Dollar" are amongst my favorites here.
Tumblr media
Roc Marciano- Mt. Marci:  Roc Marciano's Mt. Marci is a darkly beautiful album. The album features collages of different soundscapes that are generally classy and ominous. Of course, Roc's stoic monotone flow continuously reeling off-kilter references and punchlines is the album's centerpiece. Roc's flow is just cold-blooded. "Covid Cough," "Downtown 81″, "Wheat 40s", and "Butterfly Effect" are among the livest tracks on this album, in my opinion.
Tumblr media
Run The Jewels-RTJ4: Killer Mike and EL-P kill it every time they drop, and RTJ4 is no different. It's another album of high octane/great beats from EL-P and essential bars from Killer Mike and EL-P. As you'd expect, RTJ speaks to lots of issues going on today while at the same time going crazy to one-up each other bar for bar. "Ooh La La," "Out of Sight," "Never Look Back," and "Pulling the Pin" are the highlights of the project to my ears.
Tumblr media
Megan Thee Stallion-Good News: Megan Thee Stallion has been dope since Tina Snow.  Whether it's Fever or Suga, you can expect both skill and top-notch charisma and confidence from Meg’. If you've heard those projects, you know you can expect to hear Meg taking explicit agency of her sexuality, partying, rappin' her ass off, and generally commanding these tracks. There's also the drama with Tory Lanez, but the album, fortunately, isn't weighed down with ways about that. Favorites on this album include "Shots Fired," "Savage(Remix), "Movie," "Girls In The Hood."
Tumblr media
21 Savage & Metro Boomin- Savage Mode II: 21 Savage and Metro Boomin's original Savage Mode was bleak and brooding enough to launch 21 Savage careers, and this one is similarly cold-hearted. Still, there are more varied styles of savagery here, whether we're talking the 80′s inspired "Steppin' On Niggas” or the more pop-orientated "Mr. Right Now" or the inspirational/introspective "Said N Done."

GUYS!!! Or just people in general ....
So I just figured this out!!!! Like it took me all my childhood BUT I finally understood the Batman jingle bells!!!! Now I'm not proud of it taking this long but all it took was for me to be humming to it and saying a few words of the jingle bells Batman theme song from the old cartoon (from what I remembered)
I was helping my mom make tamales,,, cuz ya know Christmas is a thing (and my mom makes more than enough to feed an army so she needs help) anyway I was softly singing to it and my mom asks me what song is that (know she don't know enough English but she knows that's not how the song goes)
So I tell her it's jingle bells but Batman themed and she's like "ok whatever floats your boat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" kinda thing
But then
I start to really think about the song lyrics and since I'm doing something I've done over a million times I really think about it
The lyrics to it as I remember it I could be wrong tho are (mostly likely are but whatever):
Jingle bells Batman smells Robin laid an egg the Batmobile lost a wheel and the Joker got away!!! Hey!!!
Right.......???
But then it got me thinking and what better time to think about it than when you're doing something monotonous...like making tamales
Now I'm pretty sure most people know about this cuz....well it's an old song that I'm just now realizing the significance of
Batman smells Robin laid an egg
Well we all should know that being in a heavy armored black suit while running through Gotham ain't no AC wonderland...I'm pretty sure that little bit is just an insult. And the Robin part well I could only think about how Jason became Robin a bit after Dick and it goes well with the next parts too
The Batmobile lost a wheel and the Joker got away
We should know who they're talking about...
Jason Peter Todd!!! My amazing baby boy was the one who stole the batmobile's wheels and after the whole fiasco with Ma Gunn Jay becomes Robin (obviously not right after but you get my drift) and the part where the Joker got away.....well....I made myself sad while making tamales thinking about how the clown killed Jay brutally might I add and Batman didn't catch the the Joker after what he did to Jay, he never really "avenged" Jason nor did he stop joker from committing more horrendous crimes
After I was done with helping my mom I thought to myself "there's gotta be more to that song than what I remember, right?!?
Lo and behold
I found a website about it yay (I think)
Tumblr media
And I was like "Yooooo" also sorry for the long ass post (^~^;)ゞ but like I said I was positive that there was more to it than just what I knew
Tumblr media
And there was,,, and I was amazed that I didn't know the whole thing
Dashing through the snow in a one horse slopping sleigh
I know this comes first but it can also be related to how Batman felt after Jay died and or how he felt when Dick left
Joker's on the go, laughing all the way
You know how he thinks Batman are in this weird ass wanna be tango dance where one does the THING and the other FOLLOWS the thing whatever that is but it never ends
The bells on Penguin's ring make Riddler wanna fight Two-Face wants to flip a coin And sing this song tonight
Well I can assume all these baddies are gonna do something big for Christmas cuz well,,, time for giving ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ idk I guess??
Welp that's my contribution towards this fandom

Suicide Blonde (Michael Rooker X Reader)
Tumblr media
Disclaimer:  Obviously set in an AU where Rooker’s never been married, no kids, etc.  This is purely fantasy and would never happen in a gazillion years.  If you don’t like RPF, don’t read.
Warnings:  RPF, mild smut
He hurried to turn his alarm off, cursing under his breath as he accidentally knocked his phone off the nightstand and sent it clattering onto the hardwood floor.  He cringed, not so much about the shattered condition his phone screen was possibly now in, but whether or not he had disturbed your sleep.  He was trying his hardest not to wake you, and after all that noise, he knew he probably hadn’t succeeded.  You had to give him an “A” for effort for trying at least, but you were indeed awake.  It wasn’t entirely his fault though.  You had been blessed with the misfortune of never being able to sleep through even the slightest sound since the day you were born.
He sat up on the edge of the bed and yawned, grumbling as he finally stood up and shuffled to the bathroom.  Neither one of you liked to get up early.  And it was early, too early, one of those days he had to be on set at the crack of dawn.  You waited for the sound of the water running in the shower before you snuck off to the kitchen to make him breakfast.
It was still black as night outside the kitchen window as you put on a fresh pot of coffee, counting down the seconds until you could taste that early morning caffeine rush and give your brain a jumpstart.  You then went about whipping him up a quick breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast.
You had just set his plate and coffee on the table when he walked into the kitchen.  He went straight for you, grabbing you in a tight embrace from behind, nuzzling his scruffy chin against your cheek.  “I’m sorry I woke you up.  You forgive me?”
You turned around in his arms to face him.  He looked so damn cute with his hair still damp from the shower, his blue eyes drowsy with sleep and his lips stretched into a lazy smile.   How could you ever be mad at him?
“It’s ok, baby,” you assured him, giving him a kiss before you both sat down at the table.  “I had already planned on making you breakfast anyways.  Besides, I can always take a nap later.”   You smirked and nudged his leg under the table with your foot.  “And, we both know you’ll end up falling asleep again somewhere.  The make-up chair, or some random prop couch, middle of a scene,” you teased.
He chuckled.  “That is exactly what I’m gonna do, and I can’t wait to do it.  Mostly just to fuck with Gunn for making me get up this early,” he joked.
———————————————————————————————
After the two of you were finished eating, he grabbed his backpack and keys and wrapped you up in one last hug before he had to leave.  “Hey, let’s go out for dinner later when I get home, hm?”
“That sounds fine with me,” you replied.
“Well, I mean if you still wanna be seen in public with me after today,” he grinned.
Your face scrunched up.  “What does that mean?” you puzzled.
“Nothing.  Nevermind.”  He was trying his best not to laugh.
“Nooo, tell me,” you whined.  “Why wouldn’t I wanna be seen with you in public, you goofball?”
“Nope.  Can’t tell you.  It’s a surprise.”  With another quick kiss and an “I love you”, he was out the door before you could ask him another question, leaving you standing there wondering what on earth this surprise could be.  Heaven knows with him it could be anything.
———————————————————————————————-
That evening, you heard the back door to the kitchen open and close, followed by the familiar sound of his keys hitting the countertop.
A few seconds later, he walked into the living room.  “Surprise!”
You looked up from your laptop to see him standing there, his baseball cap in one hand, his other hand toying with the curls on his head.
Your jaw nearly hit the floor.  “Oh…my…God…come…here.”
He busted out laughing and flopped down on the couch next to you.  When he had walked out the door that morning, he had left with a head full of brown curls and three weeks worth of a fuzzy, salt and pepper beard.  He had returned home a bleached blonde and not a trace of stubble to be found on his face.
“So?  Whadda ya’ think?”
You sat your laptop on the coffee table and moved closer to him.  “Ummm…well, it’s…different,” you giggled, running both of your hands through his hair.  “But, yeah, I like it.”
“You really like it or you just saying that?” he asked, wondering if you were just being nice.
“No.  Really, I like it.  I mean I never thought of you as a blonde before, but I’m kinda digging it.”  You inched closer to him still and straddled his lap, wrapping your arms around his neck and twirling the newly blond curls on the back of his head with your fingers. “It’s actually pretty sexy.“
“Yeah?” he smiled and ran his tongue on the inside of his cheek.  His hands instinctively slid down to cup your ass, and he inhaled sharply as you started grinding against his crotch.
“Uh-huh,” you nodded, leaning down to leave a trail of slow, soft kisses along his jawline, noticing how strange it was to not feel his scruff against your skin.  He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the couch, sighing as you whispered in his ear.  “It’s making me want you..right….now.”
He swallowed hard, his breath beginning to quicken as he watched your fingers graze down his chest, lifting up the bottom of his t-shirt to get at his jeans.  You could see the outline of his cock under the black denim becoming more defined every second.
“You wanna maybe postpone dinner for a bit?  See if what they say is actually true?”  You unbuttoned his jeans and took your sweet time unzipping them.
“If what’s true?” he rasped, suddenly finding it hard to concentrate on the conversation as you slipped your hand inside his underwear.
“That blondes really do have more fun,” you purred, wrapping your fingers around his cock, stroking him in a torturous, slow pace until he couldn’t take it anymore.
He grinned, and his eyes burned wild as he flipped you onto your back on the couch.  He yanked his shirt over his head like it was on fire and threw it across the living room.  “I think I already know what the answer’s gonna be, but let’s find out anyway,” he growled and buried his face against your neck, nipping and kissing as he tugged down your jeans.
After the third round testing out that old saying, you both decided to just stay in and order pizza.
