I hope one day I’ll be able to dance around to Liam’s tunes again. It just hurts so much to listen to any of them now, especially the upbeat fun ones.. the ones I’d go to when I wanted to lift the mood, when I needed a bit of distraction or needed to force myself out of feeling blue.. now everything is coloured grey…

i get it... listening to 1d has often been about turning off my brain and feeling good, especially when not a lot of other things succeed in doing that. i have been listening to them these past days as a way to grieve... to keep liam in mind. to keep them in mind. maybe also to make sure i don't associate grieving them with not listening to them because i know i'll always grieve this and i refuse to stop listening. one direction, this innocent thing from my teenage years, this thing that brought me enormous comfort during lockdown, has now grown up with me even more. a lot of happiness in life is made brighter by the sadness that contrasts it. i am grieving now, grieving liam and his life and everything that went wrong. the pinpricks of light in there. i am incredibly sad about how life twisted and turned for him, and i feel even closer to 1d because of this. like. fuck, i really do fucking care a lot about them don't i? fuck. so now, when i listen to night changes or fireproof or even fucking act my age i feel that sadness as the undercurrent to my joy. which is how i feel about most things i find incredibly beautiful. or, idk, how i recognize something as being real. so yeah. that. they're the raise in the water that calms my mind bc they're walking in the wind

Stanford is desperate. He has tried every method possible to try and rid himself of Bill, and he's got nothing to show for all his efforts but more scars and less sleep.

His head is killing him. Another consequence of his many attempts to just live. Yes. He yearned to live, because he was dying. Dying in the hands of his own muse. Was it so wrong of him to want to live? To fear death? Perhaps Stanford was selfish; a hypocrite, to avoid the same death that had so soon and so unfairly claimed his friend and his brother, but he was only a man.

Stanford knew he didn't stitch his wound right, he could feel it. He could feel the cold nails and bolts dig into his head; his scalp pulled taught over his newly metal plated skull to cover the holes. He felt something rattle when he moved. Perhaps he should have welded the metal plate into his head instead.

Project Mentem did not react well to his open skull and neither did the poorly screwed metal plate in his head.
