“Jim, are you going to…kill?” Asked Claire. 

“I’m going to try not to. Only maim and incapacitate.” 

“I don’t have the same reservations,” said Walter. 

“Nor I,” added Draal. “We’ve vowed to protect the humans. But men that hurt other men? That’s a true fleshbag. Good for nothing but their bones.” 

Rudy looked quite green at the thought, but just wished them the best before leaving. 

They took the truck. Claire rode in the backseat while Walter sat in the front. Draal, being too big for the cabin, reclined in the bed with a tarp draped over him. 

There wasn’t much of a plan shared before they loaded up and headed out. The three trolls were just going to charge the house and clean up. 

Claire finally spoke after staying quiet for a long time. “Are you sure about this?” She asked, in a hushed voice. 

“No,” said Jim, just as quiet. “Not only am I not sure, but I’m fairly certain it’s a bad idea.” 

“Yeah…but it’s Barbara, right?” 

“Exactly.” 

“Then do what you have to. I’ll be here for whatever you need.” 

Jim didn’t reply, but took her words to heart. Instead, he asked Walt, “you’ve killed humans before, haven’t you?” 

“Yes,” Walt said quite calmly. “I almost killed you, if you remember.” 

“Right.” He had actually managed to forget for a while. “Did it…change you? As a person?” 

“Jim. Despite looking like a human, I definitely am not one. The changeling nature is deception and betrayal. It’s built into me. Barbara changed me. Defeating Gunmar changed me.” 

Jim didn’t know what to think of that. It wasn’t exactly helpful to his own case. 

“I think you’re thinking too much about this. You’d never hurt a good troll, right?” 

“Right, but good trolls don’t hurt humans!” 

“But aren’t these bad humans hurting other humans? You’re the Trollhunter. You carry Daylight to protect man and Trolls. Man needs a protector from a force they can’t face.” 

“They have to be stopped,” Claire added. “And I don’t think they can be reasoned with.” 

That calmed him slightly. It tempered his anger like a hot blade. He could do what needed to be done. 

It was his job as Trollhunter.

i truly, truly detest 7OX7 Part 2. i detest this book more than i think any other book i've read before. the writing structure is more competent than the first one, but it's infinitely preachier, condescending, time-wasting, and overall just downright fucking worthless. it ain't worth the paper it's printed on, dude.

"kill your darlings" is a good piece of writing advice and it's a lot easier to do when you make graveyards for them. every time I write something I like but cant use I just cut and paste it over to the graveyard document. maybe I can use it later, maybe I just feel better not deleting the work outright, either way it feels good

you know what. I planned out my entire nanowrimo novel in a month then wrote double the length last november bc i had an outline to work off of. so like. theres absolutely no reason i couldnt just blitz a script for the comic in like, a month? I KNOW i can write fast jkdhjkad i could def do that...less excuses not to finish it if its already p much entirely planned in detail, right? 🤔
