Verbs conjugations in spanish are so specific it's not necessary to write the pronoun to indicate if it's first, second or third person.
It would eat you alive = te comería vivo.
Is a very direct translation but without "eso" (it) because is not needed.
However, it/eso generally has an objectified connotation which makes sense as Bill distances himself from the monster so Ford makes no connection.
But in spanish, since no pronoun is used, it feels more like a hint than a cover-up.

Those kinda dreams hit different... and then you wake up and they hit different again... why Hannibal gotta show up in dreams and be nice like that??
Had a dream that I was in the hospital, and Hannibal came to visit me. We lied next to each other on a couch and he read children's books to me while I rested my head on his shoulder. Woke up sad and touch starved.

Telling Hugh Dancy about trans masc Will and more...
As some of you already know by now, I went to Boston Fanexpo this past weekend for another stop on the unofficial Hannibal 2024 Reunion Tour.
I had planned to do autographs on the Friday before the Hannibal panel and had brought some gifts for Hugh which included a copy of Adapt. Evolve. Become: The Genderqueer Fandom of NBC's Hannibal, which I compiled and edited last year. I also got him to sign my own copy (above).
It all moved quite quickly, but I did have the chance to explain that it's a volume by and about trans, non-binary, and genderqueer Fannibals that includes art, fics, essays, and personal pieces. He seemed intrigued and I said I hope he'd have the chance to read it and that the art isn't explicit/sexual but some of the fics are - he laughed and said he appreciated the warning.
It was all quite the whirlwind, especially after coming all the way from the UK, so I was absolutely mortified when I remembered the next morning that I had talked with a few trans Fannibals who had specifically asked me to let him know that he/Will is a trans icon. So I went back up to see him again on the Saturday morning when it wasn't too busy (and get more stuff signed) and this is what happened:
[I wrote notes down right after so this is as close an account I can get without having filmed it!].
Me: I saw you yesterday Hugh: I remember (smiley-friendly) Me: I gave you a book Hugh: I remember (smiley-friendly) Me: well, I forgot to tell you. A few trans Fannibals reached out to me to tell you that Will is a trans icon to them and we all love you for it. Hugh was surprised (in a nice way) and I was pretty much going to walk away then - job done and feeling like time for me to stop bothering Hugh lol. But before I could walk away he sort of held out his hand to stop me and said something along the lines of - I don't mean this in a disrespectful way, don't take it the wrong way... I'm genuinely curious- I get that it can be about identity- but what is the connection to Will and being trans? Luckily - my essay in the book is exactly about how Will can be read as trans, so I sort of gave him a summary of that. I explained that (obviously) both Will and Hannibal can be read as queer, and that - especially as both characters have dominant masculine and feminine traits, it's also easy to read them both as trans or in some way genderqueer. He was nodding and agreeing, so I further explained that with Hannibal, he is fully formed - he's already whatever he is - which Hugh also agreed with. But that Will is still becoming, still transitioning and therefore can be more relatable to trans fans who see that journey in themselves. So although it's not necessarily the same journey - there is enough to it that it resonates with trans people. I said that in the show there is also the added bonus of Will being seen and accepted for who he is, just as trans people wish to be. He was nodding along and agreeing with me and then he thanked me for explaining that. It was pretty quiet previously but I'd been there a few minutes so the queue was building up a little but he was so focused on me - so genuinely intent on hearing what I had to say and learning more. SO I CARRIED ON. (lols) I explained to him that it goes further than the show, that we have found a community in the fandom and that many trans people have a catalyst in their life that sparks their journey - like Will had in his friendship with Hannibal. For us it might be a person, an event, or even a TV show. I explained how the fandom are so supportive of trans people - that we are SEEN. That I for one wouldn't have been able to afford top surgery without the kind donations of Fannibals back when I was not in a good place (mentally or financially). That we all help each other and for some of us that has been life-saving. He did the hand on heart thing and said "wow" and was clearly moved. I said to him that so much of this is in the book, that I completely understand if he doesn't want to read the fanfic, but I really hope that he will at least read each of the personal pieces - that each of the fics and art also have a little write up from their creator about what the show and/or fandom has meant to them and their gender journey - how important this has been in our lives. He repeated a couple of times that he would definitely read it. I thanked him and he held out his hand and gave me the most genuine hand shake I've had in my life.
I want to really stress here how much this was instigated by Hugh. That he really wanted to know more and understand and didn't even look at the slowly growing queue but was instead intently focused on knowing more about the trans Fannibals and about why this show and the characters mean so much to us.
I then went off and spoke with a few Fannibal friends in the queue before getting around the corner to another Fannibal friend and having a bit of an emotional moment/breakdown. I can't even explain how grateful I am that he gave me the opportunity to explain all this to him. And I was especially glad I got to tell that Will is a trans icon because I'd have felt terrible if I'd have not done that after people had asked!! Thank you for trusting me to pass that message on for you!
💖
I know for many of you Adapt. Evolve. Become: The Genderqueer Fandom of NBC's Hannibal might have gone a little under the radar. So here is some more about that >>
It was compiled last year for Trans Hanni Day, edited by Max Turner of (and in conjunction with) A Coup of Owls Press - and published under Max's ACoO imprint.
It features essays, personal pieces, fanart and fanfic by and about trans, non-binary, genderqueer and otherwise non-cis Fannibals.
IT IS FREE TO DOWNLOAD, however we ask that if you do that, please consider donating to one of the linked trans orgs if you can afford to (or a similar organisation/charity of your choice).
It can be purchased on Amazon, however, as the proceeds go to charity, and Amazon only gives royalties, more is earned/given if bought directly via Max's shop.
Dearest trans Fannibals, please know that YOU ARE SEEN!

I think the thing that I've taken away from this panel is that it's okay if you don't like your work because there are people who will love it.
And I didn't take that away because there was any implication that Hugh or Mads disliked the work they did on Hannibal but because they so obviously loved it but even they couldn't remember all the details of the things they loved. Hugh wouldn't stop talking about S1EP2 Amuse-Bouche but he could not for the life of him remember Eldon Stammets' name, and Mads and Hugh had to be reminded of Donald Sutcliffe's name.
And those details of the panel stood out to me because it's like wow I may forget about something I've written or recorded or drawn, but someone somewhere out there, even if it's just one person, probably loved what I made even more than I did and they might've committed parts of my work to memory that I've completely forgotten about or thought were insignificant.
I guess the panel just reminded me how thankful I am for fandom spaces and the fannibal community and just generally people who are kind and uplifting and share what they love with each other.

Okay now that the panel is over and I’ve had a few beers here’s my c2e2 thoughts:
I don’t think the interviewer was a big fan. For one thing, their “eat the rude” shirt was literally on sale on the sales floor. Like I think they knew the show, liked it, but probably hadn’t thought about it for a long time. I totally appreciate some of their questions about getting into character and stuff like that, but that isn’t what people were there for. We were there for the feels! Like, after Mads said that about Hannibal seeing a future for the first time, they should have POUNCED. Ask Hugh how Will saw his future or present as of the finale! To any of us, those questions are obvious. To a more casual appreciator of the show, not so much. Plus, Hugh is so fucking cagey. It makes sense, Will was still, probably, unclear on how he felt about Hannibal and frankly his major concern is his relationship with himself at that point of transformation. But man, put any fannibal up there and we would’ve got to the good stuff.
I’m just happy Hugh and Mads got to be up there together, playing off each other and getting to talk even a little about something that clearly meant a lot to them both. And it was an honor to be there.

GUYYSSSS !!! share some of your favourite hannibal headcanons u have. i loooove hearing different headcanons from fannibals !! here r some of mine !
• in season 1 will had dreams where he was a dog and people would be gentle with him and take care of him
• hannibal panic cleans. his house was IMMACULATE the first weeks will was in prison
• will hides his smile when his cheek scar doesnt heal correctly after the fall because he feels insecure
• hannibal doesn’t deal well with will not responding to calls or being late to things. see him driving two hours at night to get will’s sleeping ass at the fbi bc he was late to his appointment
• wills cheek scar in s3 looks like a hung tear
• hannibal refuses to speak lithuanian bc of trauma. when he tells will about holes in the floor of the mind (his own mind), he’s referring to ptsd triggers and flashbacks of his childhood
• wills owns SO many boots. hiking boots fishing boots working boots day boots. theyre heeled too
• hannibal used to be suicidal in his teen years until he did his first kill. then that pain transferred elsewhere
• whenever will goes to sleep he thinks of hannibal telling him he smelled and he cringes so hard. and when hannibal remembers bella slapping him he also cringes
• theyre both introverts. hannibal’s social battery goes up for a few days before he has to shut everything down and just take a few days killing some annoying people and cooking them. will’s social battery lasts exactly 20 minutes

I’m back from #RDC6, my very first (all) Hannibal con and also my very first trip to London! IT WAS AMAZING! ❤️ The Fannibals, the guests, the con, the city! What a whirlwind weekend, I wish it would never end. ❤️ Here are some of the highlights!
The guests were wonderful! Mads was so gorgeous, coy and funny! Caroline is just radiant, Tao is so sweet! Jeremy was a kindly chatterbox and Tom was so very shy and sweet. Julian was a total hoot! They were all so wonderfully fun, charming, and gracious! ❤️
You all have seen plenty of other fannibals’ amazing photos I’m sure, so I’ll just throw in a handful of mine to add to the pile! These are all from the panels and the ceremonies. Sorry for the quality, I kept trying to zoom in and it made things fuzzy. I have like a trillion Mads shots and Tom (you’re welcome, Eryn 😘) so if you guys want more of them lemme know! 😇
(I’ve posted a whole bunch more over on my twitter - @/beanyzilla!)

If you liked NBC's Hannibal, you might like Butter by Asako Yuzuki.
I picked this book up from the bookstore after reading the premise online and getting a very Hannibal vibe from it. Pretty much it's about this journalist who gets intrigued by a chef serial killer. Also, they're both women.
So I was like 'ooh I might like this'. I wasn't getting my hopes up though.
However, within 2 chapters, it's like if Hannibal tried seducing Will not through murder and cannibalism, but through food.
THE MANIPULATION. THE MEETINGS IN A ROOM IN A PRISON WITH GLASS BETWEEN THEM. THE SLOW CHANGE OF THE PROTAGONIST'S MINDSET INTO THAT OF THE ANTAGONIST'S, ALL WHILE SEEMING TO MAINTAIN AGENCY.
Not to mention that Butter's antagonist is three things: fond of an affluent lifestyle, is particular with food, cuisine, and ingredients, and is not bothered by being accused of murder. If you're a Hannibal-scammed-his-old-rich-patients-to-include-him-in-their-wills truther, this antagonist is on a similar vein too.
And similar to Will Graham, Butter's protagonist is someone who, while fit for the lifestyle that the antagonist lives, had never actively sought that kind of life despite being around it for a very long time. And through her stubbornness to keep interacting with the antagonist, Butter's protagonist, like Will Graham, ends up getting sucked into and eventually personalizing the lifestyle that the antagonist wanted her to take part in.
Like Hannibal, Butter has aspects of visiting a hometown to get to know someone better, an odd kind of friendship forming from manipulation, and lonely main characters. It also has a bit of Hannibal's S1 actions not being unique toward Will, but the relationship and interest that gets cultivated being one of a kind for Hannibal. That kind of 'you're just another interesting specimen' to "I'm intrigued." "Obsessively." pipeline.
It doesn't really have any romantic subplots, so if that's what you're looking for, you'll be disappointed. But other than that, Butter and Hannibal have a lot of themes and plotlines in common that might make Butter an enjoyable read for some Fannibals. The way Butter handles the themes definitely differs by the end, but if you're just in it for the ride, it might just work out.
Oh, and Butter focuses a lot on French cuisine. It's like if Hannibal indulged in describing the food he makes rather than gave a rundown of the ingredients and a brief history. Sometimes I felt like that would've been what it sounded like in his head when he thought about food.
Anyway, if you're a Fannibal who likes to read, give Butter by Asako Yuzuki a try. I know I would've enjoyed Butter on its own, but having read it while being obsessed with Hannibal made me love it so much more.

i'm just writing this in case anyone would like another online/tumblr/fannibal friend.
i'm not doing great. i don't see the couple friends I have anymore because they're busy/one doesn't make me feel good when I hang out with them so I'm telling myself it's ok to say no if i don't want to- and they don't text me anymore either. i don't work, i'm autistic and essentially in my own bubble every day. i have no parents and only a couple family members i still have somewhat regular contact with. hannibal is my special interest, but i'm also interested in other things- mostly movies and tv shows. i have written a few fanfics. i have made a few edits and am in an editing mood again.
i like being alone, to an extent. the loneliness i'm feeling now feels like it's slowly (or very quickly) picking away at me, tearing me apart piece by piece. i wouldn't wish this on anyone. i joined a local trans discord server and it seems like i just can't write something there that they're interested in. I genuinely think i'm the type of autistic/neurodivergent no one likes. i've seen all your photos/read all your stories from the cons this year and i just wish i had had a chance to be there. meet other people interested in hannibal like i am.
so, if anyone would like to talk- it can be about pretty much anything. just sending each other memes. idc. doesn't have to be here, i have insta too, for example. i'm just reaching out in case there's anyone else on here who feel the same way. i just don't know what to do anymore. this isn't the life i had imagined. this isn't a life at all.

😘😘😘😘,👀👀👀👀?
thank you! sorry it took me a month 😬
😘😘😘😘 - cheek kiss
I had writer's block for this but now the wall is SMASHED!!! 🥳
Or was Buck overthinking this whole thing? After all, Eddie had only kissed his cheek. It wasn't like he'd kissed him on the mouth.
Buck felt his face burn at this last thought. Oh, how he wanted Eddie to kiss him on the mouth…
-
"You kissed him!?" Linda exclaimed, eyes wide with excitement. Josh thunked his glass down on the table in surprise, his mouth falling open.
"Not on the lips!" Eddie said quickly as he dropped his hands back down and looked up. "Just on the cheek. But…" He swallowed nervously. "Yeah."
"What are you still doing here?" Josh burst out.
"… Excuse me?"
Shaking his head, Josh shared a disbelieving glance with Linda before saying, "Go kiss him for real!"
"But…" Eddie stared between them, his heart pounding in his chest. "I'm here with you guys. We're hanging out. I can't just ditch you."
"Eddie!" Linda chided. "We can hang out later! Ditch us and go get your man!"
👀👀👀👀 - chris watches
But then weeks passed. Chris watched the two of them continue to smile and laugh and hang out together, their touches getting progressively more intimate every day. He waited, constantly, for his dad to tell him that he and Buck were dating and things might start to look a bit different from now on.
He waited, eager to be given the chance to tell his dad that he thought this was a really good idea and he was actually thrilled for them both. He could picture his dad's face lighting up with joy, the special smile he reserved for Buck bursting free, uncontainable.
But as the days passed, no one said anything.

So writers block got the best of me in regards to my 'IWTV' fixation and while scrolling on this hellsite, I fell into Squid Game hell. I haven't even finished season one yet but thanks to this site, I both managed to spoil the whole thing for myself and now desperately want to write a S2 457 fic from the VIPs points of view (just imagine them placing bets on the two of them during the games)
Curse my old fannibal heart for finding a new ship so like my old problematic favourites. Would that idea actually interest anyone?

this broken design
pairing: Hannibal Lecter/Reader
summary:
“Dr. Lecter?” You blink a few times, convinced that you’re dreaming. The man’s gleaming eyes and concerned expression seem a bit too realistic to be conjured by your sleeping mind, though. You’re not sure if you’ve ever seen him look worried. You quickly decide that you don’t like it.
“Hannibal, please,” the doctor responds nonchalantly. You stare at him in utter confusion. Just what is happening right now? You thought you were dreaming, but this feels a bit too vivid. “What are you doing out here?”
word count: 2.3k [ao3 version here]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reader’s pronouns are unspecified but masc-intended. You take the place of Will Graham, essentially. [Will is the mf blueprint and I love him,, I just wasn’t creative enough to think of a way to fit the reader into the story without replacing him ;( ]
Since Hannibal is your therapist, the relationship [although ambiguous] is ethically questionable. That’s par for the course to many Fannibals, but I’ll put this here in case you’re new to the fandom.
warnings: canon-typical violence, dissociation, breach of doctor/patient boundaries, insomnia, sleepwalking, cannibalism, spoilers for the series.
Tumblr media
Jack Crawford can’t take no for an answer. That’s nothing new, of course. However, it’s frustrating to constantly be on the receiving end of that disappointed glare of his. You can’t take it much longer. He seems to recognize that you’re beginning to break, because he calls in a doctor for your psychiatric evaluation: Doctor Hannibal Lecter. There’s one unspoken statement lingering in the air when you walk into the room: “You will pass this exam and return to the field.”
Against all odds, Dr. Lecter seems to be one of the more competent medical professionals you’ve worked with. He doesn’t poke or prod at things that make you uncomfortable, testing your limits to the maximum. He doesn’t look at you with the patronizing gaze you’re so used to receiving from your peers. Lecter looks at you and, sometimes, it feels as if he’s looking straight through you.
After passing the psychological evaluation—you have a strong suspicion that Dr. Lecter lied on those forms—you’re back on the field. Before long, Jack Crawford is ordering you to look at mangled bodies once more. You notice that it takes more out of you each time you look. Looking is exhausting and the longer you look, the more time it takes to return to your own body.
You’re able to cope until your encounter with the Minnesota Shrike. You feel your composure beginning to slip as you frantically look through files in the office of his construction site. Thankfully, you can finally put a name to the killer: Garret Jacob Hobbs. He’s a construction worker, a husband, and a father. The guy is entirely ordinary, almost scarily so.
When you arrive at the Hobbs’ residence minutes later, you can’t shake the feeling that he’s expecting you. The house is eerily silent and when you walk in, his wife is already dead. Dread churning in your stomach, you turn the corner, only to find Hobbs holding his daughter Abigail captive. There’s a knife pressed to her neck. The betrayed yet horrified expression on her face cements itself in your mind. You point your gun at him, but he slices her neck before you can shoot him. After firing one, two, three, nine shots, you kneel down and try to stifle Abigail’s bleeding. Your heart races in your chest and there’s a roaring noise in your ears. Amidst all the chaos, however, you can still sense Garret Jacob Hobbs staring at you with a sickening smirk on his face.
“See?” The man had asked, as the light faded from his eyes and his body slumped against the cabinets. You turn your attention back to Abigail, who is now gasping and panting heavily. Your hands shake as you desperately try to stop the bleeding. You’re too rattled to notice the sound of footsteps getting closer until there’s a hand on your shoulder. Dr. Lecter and you lock eyes and, even in the swirling mess of emotions running through your mind, there is overwhelming clarity. Dr. Lecter’s expression is far too calm. Just before you can contemplate that further, he’s gently pushing you to the side and tending to Abigail.
Everything after that passes in a blur. Abigail is taken to the hospital and Dr. Lecter accompanies her in the ambulance. Jack seems satisfied and disconcerted all at once. He pulls you aside and starts talking your ear off, but you admittedly can’t process anything of what he’s saying. Eventually, the agent gives up and leaves you to drive home. Even when you go to work the next morning, you can’t shake the grey haze that clings to your very being. “See?” Garret Jacob Hobbs’ voice rings in your ears. You did see; you only wish you hadn’t.
You begin to have weekly sessions with Dr. Lecter. Jack all but forces you to attend, but the sessions actually prove to be helpful. Dr. Lecter is certainly an eccentric character, that’s for sure. You’ve never quite met someone like him before, and you can’t decide if that’s a good thing or not. The therapist is certainly mysterious. You want to figure him out, but, at the same time, there’s a nagging feeling in the back of your mind that is still wary around him. You haven’t necessarily forgotten the strangely calm look on his face in the Hobbs house, the mechanical way with which he accepted the pervasive aura of death all around him.
As great as Dr. Lecter is, he can’t fix everything. Your sleep, for example, is continuing to tank by the day. Since your return to the field, it’s difficult to fall asleep and even more difficult to stay asleep. After the Hobbs incident, you’re plagued with nightmares of dark crimson rivers. A few times, you’re even forced to relive the encounter: the moment Abigail slumps to the ground, the moment you shoot Hobbs again and again and again-
The moral of the story is that you’re not sleeping well. Your sleep has never been great, but it’s also never been this bad. You muse on that thought as you lie reclined on your mattress, staring up at the ceiling. Exhaustion tugs at your very core, but your mind refuses to slow down for even a moment. A voice in the back of your mind tells you that you shouldn’t even try to go to sleep, unless you want to slip into a killer’s skin once more. After staring up at the ceiling for an immeasurable amount of time, your eyes finally begin to fall shut.
Shadows seep into your eyes, coloring your vision dark. For a moment, there’s nothing but darkness. Garret Jacob Hobbs greets you like an old friend, his whispers ripping through your skin and into your very core. You claw at your head and close your eyes, desperate to rid yourself of his haunting voice. Somehow, your effort seems to work and you can’t hear his murmurs anymore. You want to drown in the shadowed void that stretches around you but, suddenly, there are two lights ripping through the blackness. You put a hand over your eyes as the brightness burns holes in your vision. Your eyes water and it takes several seconds for the graininess around you to disappear. To your surprise, there’s a car parked just to your left. You take a step forward and squint at the driver. The window rolls down slowly and your breath catches. A shiver rolls down your spine, and it’s not just the cold air that causes it.
“Dr. Lecter?” You blink a few times, convinced that you’re dreaming. The man’s gleaming eyes and concerned expression seem a bit too realistic to be conjured by your sleeping mind, though. You’re not sure if you’ve ever seen him look worried, and you quickly decide that you don’t like it.
“Hannibal, please,” the doctor responds nonchalantly. You stare at him in utter confusion. Just what is happening right now? You thought you were dreaming, but this feels a bit too vivid. “What are you doing out here?”
“I-” You try to say, but the words are stuck in your throat. His statement prompts you to look around and find out where exactly here is. Ultimately, you realize that you’re standing in the center of a road. It’s pretty dark outside. You look down and find that you’re still wearing your pajamas—a ragged shirt and sweatpants. Furthermore, there are scrapes lining your arms. You inhale sharply, beginning to feel panic seep into your bones.
Hannibal’s car door swings open and he moves to stand next to you. The therapist is dressed nicely, as always. You’d be more self conscious about your own attire if you didn’t feel so discombobulated. “What is the last thing you remember?” The man asks. You pause to ponder the question.
“Falling asleep,” you answer, after thinking about the past few hours. You were staring up at your bedroom ceiling. You must’ve fallen asleep at some point. There’s an infuriating lack of information—a gap from when you fell asleep to when you found yourself staring at the headlights of Hannibal’s car.
Silence settles in the air, thick and uncomfortable. You don’t know what to do or say, that could possibly justify this. Truly, one moment you were in bed and the next, you were standing in the middle of the road. You don’t exactly want to tell Hannibal that, but he seems to recognize the sentiment anyway. His brows are furrowed and his lips are pursed as he stares at you. His gaze is insistent and heated, so much so that you have to look away—lest you get burned.
“Come on,” Hannibal says. There’s an authoritative tone to his voice and you follow along instinctually. He helps you to his car with a hand on your shoulder. For a moment, you shiver in the passenger seat as he stares at you. Hannibal then shakes his head and takes off his jacket, putting it around your shoulders. You vaguely recognize that you must look truly pathetic, but you’re too cold not to burrow into the smooth fabric.
The moment he starts driving, you begin to remember your exhaustion. In actuality, you never got that much sleep. Judging from the radio in Hannibal’s car, it’s only two in the morning. You were only asleep for two hours and, yet, you walked all the way outside to the road. Gritting your teeth, you decide to look out the window. Despite your fatigue, your body doesn’t want to succumb to slumber. You have to settle for staring bleakly out the window.
“We’ve arrived,” Hannibal later announces. You blink dazedly, looking out the window to find a beautiful gothic home looming over you. Just before you can grab the door and get out, Hannibal is on the other side opening it for you. You fall in step beside him and allow him to lead you down the walk towards his home. He opens the door and allows you to enter first.
You feel extraordinary out of place here, as you usually do in Hannibal’s presence. The foyer has an elegant fireplace and deep blue accents. Paintings decorate the walls and there’s a vase of freshly trimmed flowers on one of the tables. You can see Hannibal having an internal debate with himself about giving you a formal tour or telling you about the pieces. He turns back to you expectantly and you follow him into the living room. You freeze in the doorway, upon realizing that you’re still wearing your shoes (which you don’t remember putting on in the first place). You quickly bend down and try to untie them, but your hands are trembling too much to do it.
“Allow me,” Hannibal says, getting down on one knee. To your horror and humiliation, he proceeds to help you untie your shoes. You avert your eyes, feeling as if your skin is on fire. He must sense your discomfort, because he arches an eyebrow at you before untying them a little faster. Thankfully, Hannibal doesn’t offer to fetch you clean socks—you’re certain you’d die of embarrassment. Instead, the moment your shoes are off, he guides you to sit on the finely trimmed settee.
For a fraction of a second, when you look up at Hannibal, you see the cold, calculated gaze of a practiced killer. “You’re freezing,” Hannibal remarks. You swallow hard and watch with bated breath as he leaves the room. Perhaps you just imagined that. You look around the room, unsurprised to see hints of animals everywhere—what with the mounted antelope head and various skulls resting on the table behind you.
The Chesapeake Ripper sees his victims as animals, as pigs. You’re not quite sure why the killer comes to mind now of all times. Even so, you try to think about what you’ve gathered about him so far. He’s a middle-aged man with no current family. His tastes are eccentric and his murders are artistic performances. Furthermore, the killer is slippery. You’ve only found clues because, you suspect, he wanted you to find them. The killer is narcissistic; he knows he won’t be caught and prides himself on that fact.
Your head aches with the sleep you haven’t gotten. You rub at your eyes roughly, unable to shake the feeling that you’re on the crux of a realization. The Chesapeake Ripper… The killer refuses to leave your mind. Why is that thought plaguing you here, of all places? You’re in Hannibal’s residence, staring at the rather macabre animal imagery around the space, when it hits you. Everything clicks into place: the conveniently timed dinner parties, the luxurious lifestyle, the entire lack of shock on his face at the Hobbs’ house.
It appears you’ve found the Chesapeake Ripper.
Hannibal chooses that exact moment to reappear. There’s a blanket folded over his arm and a mug in his hands. He seamlessly weaves through the room, coming to a stop over you. You look up at him from your position on the couch. “Are you alright?” You nod mutely, not trusting yourself to speak. The clock on the wall ticks ominously. Your hands are still trembling at your sides, so badly that Hannibal reaches out and cups them in his with a worried expression. You’re certain your teeth are chattering in your mouth. You’re going to die. You’ll be the next Chesapeake Ripper victim. When you close your eyes, you see your colleagues from the Behavioral Analysis Unit staring down at your corpse on the investigation table. You take a deep breath and try to remain calm. Your heart is thundering away in your chest and you know you must look suitably harrowed.
Hannibal extends a hand and you realize that the Chesapeake Ripper is giving you a cup of tea. You watch mutedly as an organ harvester gently cleans the scrapes on your skin. A coldhearted cannibal is placing a hand on your cheek and looking into your eyes, searching for something. A murderer is placing a blanket over your shoulders.
Hannibal sits down after his thorough investigation. Meanwhile, there’s one thought running through your mind: You can’t fall asleep here. You absolutely can’t let your guard down in front of the Chesapeake Ripper, the very cannibal you’ve been chasing for years. You sip the proffered tea and pretend that everything is alright. Hannibal seems content to sit with you in silence, although you can sense his gaze burning into the side of your face. Stay awake, you tell yourself. Stay alive.
Your eyes slip shut of their own accord

Mwahahahah. AHAHHAHAHH…. Yes. I had to get that out, lol.
The untying of the shoes scene is a slight allusion to the Death Note scene in which L washes Light's feet. That's one of my favorite scenes in the series, as it hints at the parallels between L/Light and Jesus/Judas and the idea of recognizing betrayal before it comes. [Unfortunately, feet also gross me the hell out, so I settled for the untying of the shoes. Haha.]
This is entirely unrelated, but i got my dna results back and apparently i’m lithuanian 😏 [it’s not that significant or specific of a percentage, but just lemme have this 🙏]. hannibal, if ur reading this, i’m just like you frrrr 😮‍💨 except minus, yk, the cannibalism.
anyway, thanks for reading <3

Hannibal? Meeting Mads at RDC6
Following on from meeting Hugh in Boston and gifting him a copy of Adapt. Evolve. Become: The Genderqueer Fandom of NBC's Hannibal, I wanted to gift a copy to Mads.
No disrespect to Mads, but I wasn't expecting (and didn't get) the same sort of interaction I had with Hugh. I've met Mads at many cons before, including one in 2018 right before I had top surgery where I had a lovely chat with him about queer and trans Fannibals.
But I've noticed over the years, including from accounts of other Fannibals too, that he's become much more guarded in his conversations. Which is fair, his star has been forever on the rise and he's been working for bigger studios and properties. But as a trans person, I am always very cautious when people become much less vocal about something they previously seemed to support - though I do acknowledge that some people just don't want to get dragged into what they see as a volatile issue. And I knew, given how much more stoic he's become, and the time limitations of signings at cons, that this would be the case regardless of his personal point of view.
Also (and I've mentioned this before in posts about his answers on con panels), Mads has a habit of just saying what he thinks people want to hear, and what will get the biggest reaction - he's a master at fanservice. Which even includes repeating the same stories (Fragile Little Teacup for example). Which again, is not a criticism, but an observation and another reason why I was pretty nervous about meeting him again. And that was BEFORE a couple of different Fannibals approached me with concerns that some of the things he'd said at RDC6 hinted that he might be making a movie that may include a trans character in an unflattering way. (I'm still on the fence about whether that was his meaning, but I'm glad I'm already pretty emotionally divorced from him since he did FB).
ANYWAY! I had talked with the fantastic wholeanddeadly before the event and we agreed on getting his brilliant "F**k transphobia Grindelwald" art print signed in order to auction it for trans charity (in fact we ended up getting two!). As we knew in advance we would be doing this, I wanted to let Mads know, because I don't feel right auctioning something without someone's knowledge if we had already made that plan.
So, this is what happened:
I was maybe third of forth in the queue (which was huge), so this was going to be a whistle stop and I'd thought carefully how to frame it and use my words wisely. So I walked up and he said "Hello, Sir!"
Which, thanks! (always love getting correctly gendered!)
I asked "May I give you a gift", and he said "Yes, of course!"
Whilst I was getting the book out of my back I told him that I met him in 2018 right before I had gender affirming surgery and he was very kind to me. His response was along the lines of "Oh yeah?"
I continued to tell him that since then, I have been involved a lot with of the trans and non-binary Fannibals and we made this book because of what the show means to us. He took it and flicked through and stopped at some of the art and admired it. He asked if it was just about Hannibal, and I said yes because I totally blanked in the moment, so the HEU stuff will be a nice surprise for him, lol.
Then the art print got passed over by his helper and I said I didn't want him to personalise the photo as I wanted to auction it to a charity that supports trans youth if he's OK with that. And he replied "you can do anything you like with it, man." I said thanks, and we were all done.
Whilst on the surface this was all good, I was definitely struck by the difference between this and times I'd met him before (especially in 2018). And perhaps it was just down to him being more guarded, but it felt very... standoffish. Which is fine, it is what it is.
The funniest thing is that Mads often signs the characters name on the things he signs, and the one we already had signed the day before via a friend, he didn't put the character name on it. On the one he signed for me, he did: Hannibal.
I saw him hesitate part way through signing the name but it just made me chuckle at the potential that this character meant so little to him he didn't recall his name and then the next day confused him for another character - Trans Rights Wizard Hannibal!
Anyway. I hope he reads the book. I hope he gets something out of it. I hope he's not making a transphobic movie.
And I hope you'll all check out @transhanniday on here (and on Twitter), where the two signed prints and some other bits will be going up for auction soon! The proceeds will be going to UK trans youth charity Mermaids, the same charity that Deadly supported with his original art prints.

Okay I'm assuming most fannibals have thought of or seen posts talking about "how does Hannibal have time for literally everything he does (murder, work, cooking, driving, manipulations, etc.)" and I was just sitting here thinking, "yeah how does he do all that but specifically when does he get household chores done? This man has a big house. When does he mop the floors and dust his samurai armor and scrub his toilets?" Which just got me thinking, what if Hannibal Lecter has a housekeeper?
Like, we see he has the money to hire a bunch of extra chefs and waiters for his dinner parties, so I don't know why a housekeeper wouldn't be acceptable. I can see him having one and telling them to stay out of the pantry because he's meticulous about his food storage or something (but obviously he just doesn't want them finding the murder basement) but just imagine the possibilities.
What if the housekeeper was the only one at the house one of the times Abigail escaped the hospital in season 1?
What if the housekeeper overheard one of Hannibal's dinners (like imagine they overheard the dinner that Alana, Hannibal, and Will have in season 2 talking about boundaries and relationships and all that)?
I'm just imagining all the possibilities of experiencing the things that happen in NBC Hannibal from some random mundane person's point of view.

Kind of couldn’t let humanity forget about this.

About Hannibal’s drawing pencils…(Decided to make a whole separate post about Hannibal Lecter’s drawing supplies to keep all the things I figured out after really attentive, extensive and obsessive research & viewing. Thanks to @existingcharactersdiehorribly for signal boosting my original questions! Sharing the fruit of my labours for the good of all Fannibals.)
1. Free range psychiatrist drawing habits
Hannibal DOES, in fact, draw with Tombow MONO graphite drawing pencils! (Originally, I just tossed the idea out there because these beautiful Japanese pencils seemed to fit his style, and it was an accurate guess.) These are professional drawing pencils, high-density graphite, strong point, smooth line. Hannibal has several at hand when he is drawing (which makes sense since his drawings have different values): in one scene, he’s shown with four different pencils while working on one sketch.
In case you want to sketch like Baltimore socialite Hannibal, this is a Tombow MONO.
He sharpens them with a scalpel (again, makes sense, a blade is preferable to a pencil sharpener for a better point).
Hannibal doesn’t seem to use a kneaded eraser, which is strange, nor have I spotted a blending stump (tortillon), but he has an ergonomically shaped triangular eraser. It looks like one of Faber-Castell grip erasers, the one Hannibal uses is the triangular shape but in a dark colour, possibly dark green (?). He also has a brush (to brush off the bits of eraser from the drawing).

2. Cooped up BSHCI resident drawing habits
Apparently Dr Alana Bloom provides Hannibal with quality drawing supplies. Unlike his usual set of hexagonal graphite pencils, Hannibal is seen with a single black round one. The lead is very black, suggesting a mix of charcoal and wax or charcoal and lead. It would have a soft matte finish. After squinting about 1001 times watching it roll over Hannibal’s table for half a second, I am certain it is Sanford Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencil, 935 Black, which is actually much more expensive than a single MONO drawing pencil (rough estimate: approx. $6.50 for 935 Black vs. approx. $1.50 for a Mono?). Alana is really pampering Hannibal.
In case you want to sketch like Hannibal in BSHCI, this is a Sanford Prismacolor Premier 935 Black.
(NB: Hannibal also uses a different pencil while in BSHCI, specifically, during the coversation with Alana about his insanity plea. The non-drawing tip is similar to the Tombow MONO, but I can give no definitive opinion yet.)

So far I haven’t been able to identify Hannibal’s drawing paper (loose sheets). He seems to use at least two types, one which appears heavier and with a warm tint (example), the other less heavy, smooth and prone to minor creasing (example), probably for looser preliminary sketches? But there’s also an unfinished study of a woman on a warm-tinted (or perhaps yellowed with age?), thinner, slightly creased paper (this one). Examples from NBC Hannibal site.
If you have any ideas about the grain, weight, tint, and brand of Hannibal’s drawing paper, or any observations of his use of erasers and blending stumps, please let me know! Or just chime in if you, too, care about Hannibal’s drawing supplies.

Tired of people trying to assimilate Will's "morally grey" actions to Hannibal's evil deeds. Will's killing murderers, covering up for Abigail whom he loved, and freeing Hannibal in front of Mason are prime examples of a good person doing the right thing. He grapples with his fantasy to kill Hannibal- self-defense against Randall was smth of an outlet- he fights his impulse to be righteously violent up until the very end, until Hannibal went after his family.
"Because he was my friend, because I wanted to run away with him". Will is grieving Abigail, he'd give anything to get her back, even if it means negating his entire value system- "the wrong thing being the right thing to do was too ugly a thought"- until he lets go of Abigail at the end of Primavera "it was the only place I could make for you". All this spells Stockholm Syndrome, Will definitely checks all the boxes:
Perceived threat to survival
Showing of kindness from a captor
Isolation from other perspectives
Perceived inability to escape
Think about IPV victims, suppose a divorce cost their child (physically emotionally), would they wish they hadn't left the abusive partner just to save their child? It's only when Will lets Abigail go, 'forgives' Hannibal, could he continue the elaborate chase to bring Hannibal to justice- to justice, not to Mason's lot. He still wants to do the right thing. In fact s2-first half of s3 was Will trying and failing at it, becuase NO ONE BELIEVED HIM, Hannibal is too cunning to be caught through official means. imo all of Will's actions are justifiably motivated by justice / revenge, there's no inclination toward the darkness Hannibal (and fannibals) see in him. Or, he fights this inclination. Hugh describes their relationship as "inescapable love" which I think is rather telling.
Fannibals love to talk about Will’s moral grayness. Imo it is comparable to Hannibal defining rudeness as unspeakably ugly. It bends morality in a hypocritical, self-serving way. Hannibal (and fannibals) are eager to see that they're alike and that Will deserves the becoming Hannibal forces on him, then ofc you define moral grayness in such a way that Will's actions fall within it. If we lived in utopia where there's no death sentence and acting in excessive self-defense is very punishable, then yes, Will is morally gray, but he is still good.
