Finally, her brain seems to catch up to her heart, and she manages, "...I didn't mean anything by it, Chat, I just--" was trying to help. Which was exactly what he didn't want. Her eyes are stinging now, and she feels another swell of embarassment welling up inside of her.

She didn't want to temper his excitement, that hadn't been Sonia's attention at all. But as she gripped the string handles of her fabric bag, she glanced from Kanata's eager face to the attraction he wanted to visit at the end-of-summer festival. Covering several blocks, it had drawn out crowds from various prefectures all looking to don a yukata, eat festival foods, try their hand at games, and watch the fireworks at the end of the evening.

All of those Sonia had been happy to do: she'd even donned a yukata and pair of geta sandals, and further allowed her classmates to style her hair with traditional hairclips before the various members of Class 77-B had scattered, looking to enjoy the various amusements without the title of 'Ultimate' constantly following them in the form of their classmates. Sonia hadn't minded going off on her own, either: she'd managed to run into a friend. A very water-obsessed friend, thus her current predicament as he gestured towards the booth.

"It's not that I don't wish to experience the festival, Kanata-san," She began carefully, apologetically, her hands clasped before her. "It's just that I don't wish to sit on a chair above a tank of water and when someone throws a ball and hits a target, I fall in. I don't think it is appropriate to go swimming during a festival: you see, my female classmates helped me pick out this yukata and assisted with my dressing. If I got it wet, I have nothing to change into in order to wait for it to dry. Moreover, I don't think I'd be able to tie it again by myself! That would be terribly rude, would it not, as well as indecent?"

Of course, she wouldn't discourage him if he wanted to try his luck at being submerged in water. For as comforting as he seemed to find it, he likely thought she might feel the same. She smiled, nodding towards the tank. "But I'd be happy to watch you give it a try! I cannot bring myself to throw a ball and activate the tank though. Perhaps I might sample some of the takoyaki or one of those spiral potatoes on a stick while I watch others attempt to hit the target? Unless there is another festival game you'd like to try. There's a ring toss, a shooting challenge with a cork gun, and those small paper nets that people are attempting to scoop goldfish with. Do any of those interest you?"

Self Insert Community Inspired RP meme

Do you have fantasies or plots outside of RP? How IC are they? If any are OOC, why? 

Oh, I get struck with these all of the time. Most of them are IC! Unfortunately a lot of these never make it to the blog because my short term memory is just really bad;; especially after a work day or if I go out. Usually only if it’s mundane and related to day to day life....though I’m sure it’d enrich things regardless if they did make it. Stuff very akin to other dash commentaries that make it big. Often muse vs muse @ Felix himself.

technically I get imagine spots when I am still trying to decide if I’m going to keep a potential headcanon- Often when I’m researching a time period or society, i take into account how contrary and individual my muse is- Do they go with society, or are they more like ‘No Fuck That’, or, do they agree but for their own reasons?

 First impressions of your muse vs now? Any headcanons or revelations about canon that changed the way you think about them? 

When it comes to Volo, my initial reaction was much more mild. I suppose I don’t like when people lay it on thick, which sent off some...yellowish green flags? tbh, i thought we were getting some kinda fanboy character, and he was just gonna stay this minor shopkeeper that disappeared after the credits. You can listen for yourself in the only footage I got of Volo, I don’t sound overly impressed.

I do make Wyrdeer jump to prevent from running his ass over in the road, and proceed to laugh at his formality in calling me ‘Mr.’ I argue with him over whether to be humble because 18 pokemon types exist, and then give a contented lil hum at being told not to overexert. I do spare him another thought like, 17 minutes later, claiming that “I don’t know what these fucking plates are gonna be about” right in front of Iscan and Palina.

When I took his team for a spin though, the biggest revelation in character development was figuring out how compassion actively rewards you in PLA. So, my muse in particular became a much nicer guy, paired with the concept art hinting at that as well.(I did also come up with an alternate interpretation- the Fight basis of the god verse for those of us who like mean Volo.)

So, while i was waffling before while we waited for info a little, my muse leans a lot more in the ‘well intentioned extremist’ territory.  I know this is probably me leaning more into my tendencies- Hurt You With The Truth rather than Lying Liar Who Lies, but I see the niche has a spot to fill~

so, especially for good end/ships with Felix, Good Guy Volo is a reality. Which is not to say that he didn’t fuck up majorly or has the potential to spiral into evil, just. He’s an emotional bitch- He ran himself right off the compassion fatigue highway and into the ground. It’s all up to verse whether he can pick himself up again, y’know???

 Is there anything embarrassing, to you, about your muse? What are they embarrassed by?

As a Formerly “Asexual Girl” with dysphoria, I’m ultimately always a lil embarrassed how thirsty my muses can be at times, of course. Or even Romantic. Old habits die hard, I have an inner lil puritan voice when I’m actually very comfortable with Gay Shit, especially after starting my transition.

But Felix muse is much more ashamed of his attractions because of Rule Of Funny. He’s hyper-considerate, and it can be painted all over his face how much he likes Men. As a mun i’m like ‘haha get wrecked’ meanwhile he’s internally screaming, stuttering, fumbling.

As for Volo, he’s....always embarrassed. It’s more accurate to ask when he’s not embarrassed. In verses where Cogita is his mom, he especially conducts himself around her.

To be honest; he’s the least embarrassed by whoever he picks as his lover (though still finds them a little cringe. Especially if he’s the top in the relationship.)

But, he’s going to act completely shameless around them, because he gets off on the control aspect.

Having a person misunderstand, or misinterpret something that I've written, & then the fallout of that was two characters getting into a fight over the misunderstanding.

It's one thing if it's a plotted thing, like this person was always going to misunderstand & it's fine, it part of the plot. It's another thing when it's not.

This happened a long time ago, & I don't really want to get into it, but I still remember it cause it just rubbed me the wrong way. Like, if you, the mun, are misunderstanding something I've wrote or are confused, PLEASE TELL ME. I promise I won't be mad. Don't let shit spiral out of control because one person got confused.

✩  INTERVIEW WITH THE MUN  ✩

➊ How many ships do you have on this blog?

          I don’t know, let’s count! I’ve been writing some super fun GabrielxBobby stuff with @multimuse-rp, and that good (complicated) GabrielxDean shit with @awaywardboy-andhisangel and actually... that’s all the canonxcanon ship stuff I’m writing right now for some reason. But that’s not all the ships!  Fulfilling a years long dream (for me) @daedaluscried and I are writing GabrielxAri and she has also indulged some excellet (unrequited) GabrielxEve content, @thxwxlf and I have dabbled in some GabrielxKekipi, and @inferniangod has been kind enough to write GabrielxIfrit with me. 

          I’ve discussed, but not actually written GabrielxSam with @smmie, and I think @hellsmother and I are on track to write some GabrielxRowena (but if I’m not sure I should probably check, whoops).  So that’s six total, eight if you count these last two.  Plus a handful of others where Gabriel is just flirting at people and waiting to see what happens.  Nothing has to happen, he’s just like that.  But something could happen with any of them.

➋ Have you ever roleplayed with someone that just left an unforgettable impression on you?

          Of course!  I’ve been doing this for 10+ years and people have made all kinds of impressions, some amazingly good and others downright awful. I can roll through some nicknames/first names only and proably only Anti will know who I’m talking about because a lot of them are from our shared history on gaiaonline!  I could go on and on about every single one of these people but here’s a quick ‘n dirty list instead: Noir, Kathy, Mariah, Moose, Lyss, Berry, and @daedaluscried!  I’m still occasionally in touch with three of these people (one more often than the other two) which I think is kind of wild all things considered. There’s also some not so good impressions, like guy-who-started-nice-and-then-harassed-me-for-nude-pics and the-person-who-broke-my-trust-and-caused-me-to-stop-writing-smut, but i have put them far far behind me.

➌ Which of your ships on this blog is the fluffiest?

          The fluffiest is probaly Gabriel and Ari now that we’ve gotten into the emotional core of the relationship on both ends.  Which isn’t to say that it’s not a spicy ship with a helping of angst, but... I’ve written more hand-holding with them than with any of the others and I guess that’s my definition of fluff. Also I suspect the gratuitous hand-holding will continue even once they’re past the language barrier. So... FLUFF.

➍ Would you say you’re a decent role player or do you have any self doubts?

          I think I’m a decent writer but my roleplay skills vary depending on the day.  I understand how to set a mood and (usually) how to string a decent sentence together but sometimes the craft that goes into bouncing off of another writer and giving them something to bounce off of in return eludes me.

➎ Have you made lots of friends on this blog?

          More than I expected too. But when I set this blog up I thought ‘those days are behind me now’ so... one would be more than I expected.

➏ What’s the one thing you especially love about roleplaying your muse?

          WRITING THE JOKES!  And not just the verbal jokes he makes, I love writing jokes into my narration! Meta jokes! Dick jokes! Bad puns! All of it! I love it!! I also enjoy the way Gabriel interacts with the world around him.  He rarely just stands in a scene and talks, he’s always moving and gesturing and doing stuff. I also love writing his dialogue, even when the things I write make me squinch my face up with shame. He just says stuff sometimes. 

➐ Are there any people you’ve been to afraid of approaching?

          NOPE!  I’m not afraid to reach out. Approaching people is the easy part. You send a meme, you make an ooc comment, you tag them in something, you hit them with an ask or an IM or whatever.  And if they don’t answer that’s a-okay!  Their choice, I’m not hurt or personally offended. What I’m afraid of is what happens after that part if they do answer.  I can usually BS a thread until I find the point of the thing but IMs and asks? Y I K E S ! Now there’s an expectation for me to be cool and witty and have good ideas instead of just mediocre ones. Very scary. The reason I don’t send IMs.

➑ Give us a rough estimate: How much time have you spent on your graphics? (icons, theme, banners, promos, etc)

          My icons/graphics are a visual representation of me learning to use G.I.M.P. and I think you can... very clearly see the learning curve.  More effort went into those old fuzzy icons I have than the new, crisp ones. Plus moodboards and other stuff?   My guess is 40+ hours.

➒ Got any memorable threads on here? Care to mention a few?

          Well now I wish I had thread tags.  Thread tags would be a lifesaver right now.  Anyway, I am once again shouting out @awaywardboy-andhisangel and our original GabexDean thread that has since spiraled and gotten very, very interesting (it’s not over, I just like it).  And @divinitatemxsanguis who has allowed me to indulge in writing Gabriel with Loki post all the betrayl and murder. They have a special place in my heart so thanks for not judging me! I’m getting ready to write the conclusion/endcap to a sad thread with @isclcphobics involving Talia, Gabriel, and a grave. Plus the thread with @downwillow where Gabriel is human and Micheal has forgotten him. And a shoutout to @daedaluscried for our thread series that I have affectionately dubbed the ‘The Nanny’ series ft. October and Gabriel.  Every thread has been a delight.

          I also have some stuff I’m really looking forward to getting into, specifically with @hellsmother​, @cursebcund​, and @magaprima​.

➓ What were some of the most frustrating moments you had with your muse’s interaction with another muse?

          One that’s on me: sometimes I know that a moment in a thread calls for some emotional vunerability, and often when those times roll around the Gabriel voice I use to write dialogue goes all quiet and resistant and just wants to make jokes.  And either one of two things happens, either I write the joke and cringe because I know now the thread is going to go way off track because obviously the other character won’t be thrilled/is about to shut down and shut up. Or I force some emotional vunerability out of him and it never quite sounds right to me.  Sometimes it’s natural, but sometimes he just won’t do the thing and it frustrates me!

          One that I’ve encountered from someone else: sometimes people will try to force a certain motivation or trait on my Gabriel based on their perception of canon/a past interaction they’ve had with another Gabe as portrayed by another RPer. This really grinds my gears because if you want a Gabriel with that motivation to critique/praise/fight with then go find one! I garantee someone out there plays him that way! There are a lot of us out here doing this! I’m not going to change my portrayl for you!!

She’ll do it, she’s done it before ask Vano what happened to the last guy *nods*

Liar - The Arcadian Wild :: This is a relatively “new” song in comparison, which was sent to me by a good rp/writer friend on Discord (who afaik doesn’t have other socials!) that I often discuss plot points etc. with among other things, saying “hey this reminded me of Aria thought you’d like it!”. I listened to it and yep, sure enough, it’s an Aria song. A big part of Aria’s character is that at the start, she really is quite a bad person. She’s nasty, and cantankerous and she really doesn’t care about anybody except for herself (and maybe her dad. A tiny bit.), as things progress, however, while she is still inherently quite rude and selfish, she DOES learn to value other people...provided they are people she cares about, like Vano, and her friends, and so on,  as well as (sometimes, she’s working on it still) taking the blame for her own actions and learning it’s not “weak” or bad to a) admit you care about people, b) make mistakes and c) admit those mistakes and take responsibility for them. "I sense there’s trouble ahead, it’s clear by the signs and warnings. That should tell where all blame is due, So why are they pointing at MY head? [...] I sense deception to come. Honestly, truth and I are never one. 'Cause I am the lying man and I have made you my next victim. I need you to see through my act, to tell me I'm wrong, to take off the mask, or else I'll be left in the lie. And I'll deceive my way straight to demise! Cause I’m not in the right state of mind, I just wish I had strength to admit it. My stubbornness will put up a fight! But I don’t deserve to win it... Where’s My Love? - SYML :: (Vano) I think the acoustic version is especially emotional : ))) Vano looked for her for years but couldn’t find her and genuinely thought Aria was dead. You can understand why she was so fucking angry when she found out that was a lie...but at the same time, she just wanted her love to come home :( “Did she run away? Did she run away? I don't know If she ran away, If she ran away, Come back home Just come home“

Mothers - Daughter :: (Myla, her mother) “Love all you need to love before it goes... When your face becomes a stranger’s that I don’t know. You will never remember who I was to you [...] I’m called “mother”, but they’re called “home”.”

Myla raised Aria for the first few years of her life, and really wanted to keep her away from both the Jedi and the Sith but as it became more and more clear that Aria’s Force affinity was as strong as her father’s, the situation rapidly spiralled out of Myla’s control. She tried to hide Aria, but in the end her father Noctis did find them and take Aria to train with the Sith. She didn’t see her daughter again until she was a teenager, suddenly turning up with the task to kill her for treason against the Empire (Myla is not the canon Imp Agent, but follows the general trajectory of the LS!Agent storyline i.e. an agent disillusioned with the Empire who eventually defects to the Republic with the help of the SIS.). Though she’s a Senator on Onderon now, Myla carried a blaster for personal protection and ofc knows how to use it, except...she couldn’t shoot her own daughter and that was all she wrote. I imagine her thought process during her final moments went something like in this song, especially the bit that I highlighted up there.

reminds you of a relationship of theirs, doesn’t have to be romantic, can be paternal, friendly, etc:

Tongues & Teeth - The Crane Wives :: Aria & Vano (Romantic). Aria’s relationship with Vano is incredibly messy and complicated. On one hand, she knows Vano deserves better, but at the same time she doesn’t want her to go anywhere else and it seems like no matter what she does to try and “warn her off” about what a “bad person” she is, Vano keeps coming back anyway. Ergo, this song. "Oh, I will ruin you. I will ruin you. It’s a habit...I can’t help it. I know that you mean so well, but I am not a vessel for your good intent. I will only break your pretty things, I will only wring you dry of everything! But if you’re fine with that, if you’re fine with that [...] You can be mine.”

Colours - Halsey :: Aria & Merak & Ziri (Friendship/Platonic Love) “You’re only happy when your sorry head is filled with dope, I hope you make it to the day you’re 28 years old...”

Aria “coped” (i.e. not very well but she did it) with the guilt of killing her mother and the stress brought on by the night terrors by self-medicating with glitterstims (spice) and alcohol, and this is how Merak in particular remembers her. Though she got clean from spice after they picked up Ziri, she still continued to drink (and still does) quite heavily, though at least it’s easier to manage that habit. Both of them supported her through this the best they could and it’s probably a big reason (other than Merak being Vano’s little brother) that they’re still Aria’s friends to this day, even if she doesn’t actively travel with them anymore.

(honourable mention to Agnes - Glass Animals which also falls under this “category” but I didn’t want this to get too crowded lmao, it is once again a super long post woops) You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid - The Offspring :: Aria & Roan/Darth Noctis (Familial/Familial Love) Listen, he may have taught her very bad emotional habits and turned her into a tiny attack dog, but her father did love & protect her the best way he possibly could. He was very proud of her and always envisioned her taking his place as a Darth one day (and it takes her a longass while, but eventually she does! Congrats dad!). That’s all I’ve got to say about this one 🤷‍♀️ Monster - Willyecho :: Aria & Satele Shan/The Jedi Order (Enemies to Begrudging Respect (eventually) “I can see the truth. No, you don’t have to lie to me. Don’t fill your head with things and think you’re free~ [...] You don’t believe in monsters, do you~?” ”Of course not!” ”Well, I do...” See me change...into something...darker....” My personal favourite from this “round”. It’s not until Ilum that Satele and the Jedi finally realise they have not “converted” Aria as they thought they did, but rather...they’ve had a Sith hiding under their noses, a Sith related to a Dark Councillor well-known for murdering Jedi no less, and that perhaps...the “deaths” she had convinced them were accidental, were in fact, not an accident at all. 😈 Aria, of course, gets her ass thrown in jail for a few years for this lmao When the schtick with the Revanites happens and Theron needs someone who can “negotiate in a civil manner with Sith”, he and his mother agree Aria is the best bet - if it works, the Sith will respond more positively to her than any other Jedi, if they kill her instead then they’re “rid of” her and don’t lose one of their own - when Lana’s point-of-contact happens to be Vano and the pair reunite after another several years apart, Aria refuses to return to the Republic after Yavin IV. By then, she’s developed enough of a begrudging respect for Satele (and vice versa) that the Grand Master lets her go (not that she was willing to try and fight Vano, Ni’kasi, Marr & Lana to try and take Aria prisoner again anyways). They haven’t seen each other since and though Aria is neutral to the Jedi who have joined the Alliance, she doesn’t care for those who are still loyal to the Republic and would rather have nothing to do with them if she can help it.

How I feel about this character

Not to be a basic bitch here, but he’s literally my favorite. Watching him spiral downhill in the book gets me every time. I love watching this really smart, cool character just slowly becoming paranoid and agitated as things get dire.

I also just really like that kind of character. Someone who’s smart and arrogant, but also really loves his friends.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

I think anyone who knows me knows that he and Yutaka together are my OTP. Like, I will go down with that ship. I can’t say enough about how much I enjoy their dynamic.

I also like him with Sho, Shuya, Shogo, Chisatio, and Keita (usually one-sided on Keita’s part, but I’m flexible).

There are definitely other characters that I ship him with at least a little, but those are the main ones. Other pairings with him are mostly just ones where I think it’d be interesting to see the dynamic.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Yutaka again! As much as I like them together romantically, their platonic relationship also means a lot to me. No matter what, I see these two as best friends.

I also like his friendships with Shuya and Hiroki! And I wish he was closer to Yoshitoki because I think them talking about how they view romance together would be good for both of them.

I also really want him to be friends with Shogo because I think they’d get along really well.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Probably that I didn’t care for his portrayal in AB, but that was more an issue of, how do I put this.... It feeling like Shuya might as well have written it.

Like, here’s a story about Shinji :) He’s perfect and has no flaws. All of his actions are justified all the time and even if he says something not great we’re gonna justify it because Shinji is perfect :) :) :)

Idk, I’ve been thinking I should reread AB and see if I still feel that way, but that was definitely my original read of it lol.

I just really need that depth that the novel gives him. I need to see him saying/thinking things that are harsh and that feel like things a 15 year old would say.

I just can’t deal with nice guy Shinji who everyone adores. It feels so one dimensional, and I just need someone to acknowledge that he’s an arrogant playboy, who needs to be complimented every 20 minutes to be happy.

One thing I wish would happen/has happened with this character in canon

That he lived, obviously.

That he realized he was in love with Yutaka before he died.

I would have loved to see either of his plans work. I wanted to see the American national anthem playing on the island on loop. That would have been so funny, and I think he would have really enjoyed it. I would have loved to see his original plan work because I think him telling the other students would be gold.

Shinji: I just dismantled the program, no big deal. Easy to do when you’re a genius.

And then him getting to soak up their praise.

I also would have liked to see him hook up with the main trio. I think that would have been a really cool team. I would have liked to see how he fit in with that dynamic because I think he’d definitely be saying a lot of things similar to Shogo.

Oh, and him not shooting Keita would have been cool. I would have liked to see if the plan would have succeeded if he’d just taken Keita along for the ride.

Yutaka

How I feel about this character

I love Yutaka so much. He’s such a realistic character, and I really relate to him on a lot of levels. I love that he’s the funny class clown, but then is actually really sweet and emotional.

I also think the decision to make him doubt Shinji was such a good one. I think he’s so much more interesting because he had that doubt. Like, Shinji is his best friend and he loves him, but he’s also not going to watch him shoot someone and be like, “I’m sure he had a really good reason!”

Like, Yutaka is all about acknowledging Shinji’s greatness, but he’s also not completely blinded by it.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

As previously mentioned, him with Shinji is my OTP.

I also like him with Izumi (although I usually think it’d be one-sided on Yutaka’s part). Due to some past RPs I ship him with Shogo. And I think him with Shinji’s sister Ikumi would be cute (obviously when they’re older, given the 3 year age gap). And him and Yuka together would probably be a lot of fun!

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Shinji. They are bffs.

Also Keita and Yuichiro. Obviously he’s friends with Keita, but I also like to think Yuichiro came over for anime nights from time to time.

I also really like how the manga had him as part of the group with Hiroki, Shuya, and Nobu (and Shinji, but I already mentioned him). I think that group would have a ton of fun together and that the manga was right to make that change. And I could totally see him and Nobu bonding over being best friends with 2 of the most popular guys in school, like I’m sure Yutaka wasn’t the only one who felt inadequate from time to time.

My unpopular opinion about this character

It’s not his fault that Shinji died (although I think now-a-days that’s thankfully a more popular opinion).

Like, setting a pulley down when you’re tired, does not a murderer make. And taking a second to reevaluate his trust in Shinji after he SHOOTS THEIR FRIEND seems fair.

Not to mention I think the yelling and gunshots were probably a bigger sign for Kiriyama than the flashlight.

One thing I wish would happen/has happened with this character in canon

I want my son to live :(

I also would have really liked if he’d gotten to see Izumi before she died. He would have been so happy!

I also would really like it if he’d gotten to be the one to kill Kiriyama, especially if he managed to do it with the fork. Like, him ripping out Kazuo’s neck with the fork would have been perfect.

Keita

How I feel about this character

I grow to like Keita more and more as the years go on (granted, I’ve always liked the dude). I think he’s an interesting character given what we know about him. I think there are so many fun ways to interpret his actions (and some really sad ones). Not to mention the fandom has delivered some great Keita content, which always has me rolling.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Shinji (one-sided on Keita’s part) is my favorite. I think it can be such a funny pairing or also a dramatic one.

Fandom has also shown me the joys of him and Yuka together, and honestly those two goof balls are a match made in heaven.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Yutaka! I would really have loved to get more insight on their friendship!

And then Yuichiro, because, once again, I bring you anime boys.

I’ve also seen some great fan content where Keita is part of the manga friend group with Shinji, Hiroki, Shuya, Nobu, and Yutaka. And honestly that’s galaxy brain right there. Them as a group is so fun.

My unpopular opinion about this character

He also didn’t kill Shinji. The dude just wanted to be with people and was terrified. Like, you can’t tell someone who you know is a coward to just go away. He needed to be with people he could trust.

One thing I wish would happen/has happened with this character in canon

Hey, look, another character that I wish had lived!

Honestly I just wish he had been able to join Shinji and Yutaka. I would have liked to see him help and get redemption in Shinji’s eyes.

Also in general I just wish there was more of him. A chapter in his pov would have been awesome. Like, just a short chapter early on of him being alone and thinking would have been amazing.

I’m going to try not to melt down again today like I did yesterday, but I did want to say that part of what’s so hard about having my primary fandom outlet cut off and not having another outlet is that it actually makes it harder to do anything. 

When I was writing back and forth with a partner all day, I had these nice scheduled breaks where I would respond to RP, and then I’d go back to work on my classwork or whatever else I needed to accomplish, and I was so much more productive all around.

And now the whole day is just open and empty and I know I need to do classwork and do chores and all kinds of other things, but instead there’s no structure, and I just ... stare into space all day. 

So if you ever think of something fannish that you want to share with me, or something to say to me that requires a response, or some tag meme, or ANY of that, it’s actually tremendously helpful in breaking up my day so that I’m that much more productive and actually have some focus. Obviously I’m not going to count on other people to send me shit to fix this, but if something comes up or occurs to you, it’s not annoying or intrusive, it’s really, really helpful.

Right now I just depression/anxiety spiral all day every day while my mother shouts in the background about how much she hates me, and I don’t have anything active to do that breaks up my day like I did when I owed someone a reply to role play, so I become passive and just ... do nothing. Not even the classwork or chores I desperately need to do. 

I literally started struggling more to complete classwork when my RP partner stopped replying as frequently because I didn’t have a distraction breaking up my day and making me more productive. 

Talking about fandom and engaging with other people in an active way rather than just passively reading fic or watching a show really really helps my mood and my productivity and will never ever be an imposition. At worst, I might not reply instantly if I’m actually being productive (for once), but having someone to reply back to is very, very helpful to me and never annoying. Especially if it’s something that requires actual input from me beyond just ‘yes, I like that.’

Communication: It’s certainly chill. You can talk to me about whatever occupies your mind since I am very open and always happy to listen to others. I also tend to be chatty, sharing a meme or a joke every now and to loosen up the mood. If you consider choosing me as your roleplaying partner, be sure to maintain a certain consistency. I have nothing against going on a longer break or even a hiatus, but the whole `ghosting stick´ is something I have no patience for. So if you’re unsure of upholding a stable, long term partnership, feel free to skim past this ad. 

 Plotting: Also very important to note! I am fairly quick when it comes to building new characters, concepts, premises, storylines, backstories, etc… This means there is certain flexibility available which allows me to adjust. Even though it is a hobby, I am still extremely passionate about good storytelling and interesting character arcs. I hope to meet someone who is just as enthusiastic and willing to put in the same amount of effort as I am. If it’s only me who’s pulling all the weight, I will lose interest fast, just to get it out there. Aside from that, I love going a little crazy with the possibilities and push things to their absolute limits. Of course within the boundaries of the given setting.

 Pairing & Romance: Okay, right off the bat, I am a hopeless romantic through and through. I enjoy good and strong chemistry between characters just as much as the next, and this will be no exception. I prefer the good ol’ MxF pairing because I have more experience with this. But I also like playing a FxF dynamic or MxM. Everyone is welcome! When it comes to pairing itself, I want to make sure our creations are compatible, for I hate forcing characters into a romantic relationship for the sake of progression. A natural flow is what I am aiming for. ;)

 Mature? Yes, very much so:  Adult and taboo topics are absolute. There’s no way around it because, in my stories, it is a running theme. The adult world is not easy to handle, but it’s definitely interesting to explore. That includes violence, cursing, shocking content, and all that dark stuff. My limits are few, safe for a couple of minor pet peeves that I have, I am pretty much open to some experimentation. When it comes to action-heavy scenes (be it an intimate situation between two characters or something on a cataclysmic scale), I won’t fade to black since I am not a huge fan of censoring. However, I will not force or push my partner into something they are not comfortable with. If you want to know the extent to how far I am willing to go, what sort of content or how detailed my writing will be, you can ask me directly. As for smut or lemons, whatever you call it, it will never be the focus of any of my roleplays, but I enjoy a good erotic scene with a lot of tension (if they are good). 

 Boundaries: Not a big fan of things like pedophilia, necrophilia, scat, bestiality, or those dreaded ‘futas’.

Inspirations and interests: There’s a pretty broad spectrum of what I deem interesting and inspirational. From fallen angels and demon/monster hunters, mages, criminal masterminds, cybernetically enhanced characters to futuristic dystopian settings, ancient kingdoms who have fallen against the test of time. All of it causes my heart to skip a beat. For original content, I’ll just give a brief list of bullet points of the general themes that fall in line with my current interests. 

Writing: My texts are lengthy, detailed, and elaborate. Third-person is usually my preferred way of playing my character unless there’s a special case where an exception can be made. Word count usually fluctuates, though I have a standard form of 400-500+ words per response. It also highly depends on the given situation. I don’t want to set anything in stone… just to give you a basic idea of what you’re in for. I also expect my partner to have an at least adequate, if not decent grasp on basic grammar and punctuation. 

 Doubling: Yes, absolutely! If you are prone to doubling, chances are I might accept you as my partner straight away! Although I have nothing against the simple form of roleplaying, doubling is something I’ve done since my first time joining. 

 Characters: Very character-driven with the main focus being on interaction. I take my time writing characters and love nothing more than well-structured sheets that illustrate the vision of their creator. (But!) There’s no need to write 10-20 pages worth of character information, but I wouldn’t want to limit you either. As for the depiction of the given character, I won’t be as presumptuous as to tell you what sort of medium you can and cannot use. Face claims such as photos of real models, illustrations, 3D models, drawings or descriptions are all okay. As long as it gets its point across, I am happy.

 Aversions: A few minor things that irritate me, or let’s say, aren’t really my style are one-liners, low effort responses and out of character behaviors in canon characters. We all have different takes on characters, which is totally fine by me since I basically do the same. Though if the character acts and behaves unlike their personality dictates, it will break the immersion. I hope to stay true to my own words when saying this. If it happens on my side, just let me know! Another pet peeve of mine is that one plot that has been done time and time again…. and I’ve grown quite jaded towards it, which is ‘supernaturals trying to fit into human society’ thing… I mean, I’m not opposed to borrowing from this idea, but for me, it grew old pretty fast. Speaking from experience.

 Passione: My wish is to find a partner whom I can have a good time with and develop some chemistry. After all it is a fun hobby. We both should have fun with what we’re writing. Brainstorming among other things is one of my favorite things to do. To see how things unfold and how the characters react to the given situation is the highlight of any story.

FANDOM:



I love roleplaying fandoms just as much as I have a blast with building something original universes. Worldbuilding is my preferred cup of tea… but if we opt for something more fandom inspired, I highly welcome in on expanding on the given universe and add some original lore too!

Hellsing: Haven’t done that one before and I am curious as to how things play out, especially in such a dark and mystifying universe like Hellsing. There’s a lot of subject matter that we can delve into, plus I am a big fan of powerful vampire characters!

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: I would love you for this. No, seriously, I would. This fandom has sucked me into a downward spiral and there’s no possible chance of escaping this inescapable void. The absolute insanity of this franchise had me hooked from the second I laid eyes on it and I would be forever ecstatic if you’d message me on behalf of roleplaying Jojo. I have plenty of ideas for this one, just you wait.

Full Metal Alchemist: One of my favorite mangas and animes ever made. Recently I’ve begun rewatching FMA Brotherhood and felt a small hint of nostalgia swelling inside my blackened heart. I’d be open to play it, though it is not one of my top cravings at the moment.

Justice League / Young Justice / Justice League Dark: Huge DC fan, though I much prefer the animations and comics over the live-action cinematic. Let’s just say, I like the expansive and dynamic set of possibilities and deep, well-written cast. For instance Hellblazer Constantine or Raven.  

Bayonetta: Need I say more? Let’s dance boys!

Supernatural: From angels to demons, from gods to monsters, I’ve seen it all and I absolutely love it. There can be any sort of creature or being involved, ranging from vampires to sirens to elves, you have it. However, I’ve never done something quite relating to angelic beings and their offspring before. I’ve read up on Nephilim and angels and found it rather fascinating, and it’s a different approach from the usual vampire vs werewolf cliche. 


Crime and intrigue: I never stray too far from the supernatural path, but hell, there’s nothing better than some good old gritty mafia inspired stories with a complex cast of characters and a solid storyline.

Sci-fi and urban fantasy: So this could be basically anything from genetically engineered superhuman (superheroes / - villains) with a dark take on the human psyche, dismantling the idea of heroism and villainy. Or a world where mankind began their interstellar journey to colonize neighboring planets, galaxies before transcending their own humanity by merging themselves with deadly technology. I have a few plans for this…

Historical and mysterious setting: So one of my favorite eras is the Victorian time period, 30s - 40s - 80s, Renaissance or Ancient times during the rise of the Egyptian / Roman / Sumerian Empire. During these times, a dark discovery was made by man, learning that they were not alone in this world. In fact, they weren’t even the supreme race that destined themselves to dominate the world, for another race of humanoids have lied dormant deep beneath the earth, slumbering through the millennia only to be re-awakened by a cataclysmic event. These ancient humanoids are gods among men, superior in every way imaginable, and they have made it their mission to reclaim their right to rule. But their nature is not what most people think it is…

The idea: I have an idea for a plot, in which I can give you if you ask for it. It is however merely a suggestion for what we could write - not a mandatory thing. If you don’t like the idea, we can always figure stuff out and keep on home-brewing till we find something we both can enjoy. There’s no need to immediately end things if the first thing doesn’t really fire you up.

5 Ship Bias Meme Songs I Associate with Faith Lehane

               ----     First things first, @dragontold​  broke the rules and is now going to heck. Save me a seat. ;)

Well, while we don't have to have a ship for me to have answered this (and you to have sent the dang thing correctly, lol), I'm sort of glad this is what you sent because I'm a playlist whore and Faith's ever-evolving playlist is my favorite beast.

           So, here are the songs, some with a little explainer under the cut -- Note: I don't populate playlists with songs I like, although I do like most of the songs on my playlists. I'd rather the lyrics/message fit the character or ship than it just be a list of songs that happen to thrill me at the time:

"There's a loneliness inside her and she'd do anything to fill it in, and though it's red blood bleeding from her now it feels like cold, blue ice in her heart." Grey Street by Dave Matthews Band has been the top song I associate Faith with for, probably, seventeen years-ish. It's dark, it's hopeless and it's very Faith. Things have been bad enough, for long enough, that even when her life's going well she feels like kicking out all the windows and setting fire to it, lol.

"Time and time again I say that I don't care. That I'm immune to gloom, that I'm hard, through and through. But every time it matters all my words desert me so anyone can hurt me and they do." Another Suitcase in Another Hall from Evita! almost edges out Grey Street because of how damn specific it is about the hell that is a life spent alone and unwanted. The reality of Faith Lehane's life is that her troubles seem to stem, mostly, from being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for, and this song could be entirely from her perspective without changing anything.

"I'm the fox you've been waiting for..." You really can't make a playlist for Faith Lehane without The Runaways, 'Cherry Bomb'. The totally radical yet somewhat pathetic war cry of the 'wild girl' on your block who's got nothing more to offer than the fact that she's an uncomplicated good time.

"When you see her, say a prayer and kiss your heart goodbye. She's trouble, in a word get closer to the fire. Run faster, her laughter burns you up inside. You're spinning round and round. You can't get up, you try but you can't..." Madonna's 'Who's That GIrl' was tied to her film by the same name, and there's something about the song that's very kismet -- when it comes to relationships (rp-wise), she's like the future. Sort of hard to avoid. She's aggressive when she wants your attention, though, so always have an escape plan. On the plus side, she's also aggressively loyal and aggressively affectionate when allowed to be. This has nothing to do with anything, but Who's That Girl was such a cute and stupid movie and I will forever be upset that 1980s Madonna pre-dates Batman the Animated series, and she never had a chance to play Harley Quinn. Seriously.

"Never thought I'd fall ten feet under. Always thought someone would remember to look for me before I reached the edge." Come Dig Me Out by Kelly Osbourne has elements of season three Faith, the spiraling kid who needed a solid foundation ( spoiler alert -- if the bad guy shows you, unconditional love, looks out for you and rewards good behavior, of fucking COURSE you are going to go be a bad guy with him ) --- Faith even states in season four that she was sinking a little each day and nobody noticed or cared.

Policy Update (4/21)

Hello Isolans!

It’s been a while since our last big policy update, so we hope you all can bear with us for the length of this one! Topics this time range from a few reminders, to clarification on reserving characters for mobile games, as well as a few new things to consider for activity, and a couple rule changes regarding D&D rolls, canon doubles, and dash only blogs. We also want to unveil the beginner’s guide that has been being worked on for a bit now!

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT:

We now have a newbie page! In case you or someone you know is new to Isola or even new to tumblr RP in general, a couple of our assistants (thank you Ty and Shvon!) worked really hard to put together a resource for learning the ropes, figuring out where to start, and answering common questions that come up!

Even if you’re a veteran to the group, check it out because it may offer some useful insight!

REMINDERS:

Discord chats: We do not allow group discord servers / chats that are directly related to Isola (things like cast chats or chats designed just for Isola members). We know the goal of these groups is to bond with castmates, but group chats like this have a tendency to cause people to feel excluded (either due to not being invited or even due to discomfort or anxiety about group chat settings). Chats like this also have a tendency of making casts feel cliquey to outsiders, which could make people wary of joining or feel like they aren’t welcome. We can’t stop anyone from making group chats with their friends, or chats unrelated to Isola, but please use your best judgement and be mindful of the impact this could have on other members. If we catch wind of chats that fall into unlawful territory and are given proof of their existence it may result in punitive action.

Blogs: Please remember to include all information on your blog somewhere easy to find (this includes the stats page, as well as things like housing assignment)—it makes it much easier to do things like rank up requests and activity checks.

Meme responses: Remember, only one meme post or ask (which must be at least 300 words) will count toward activity each month unless it starts a thread! We’ve noticed this come up lately, so we wanted to restate it.

Crack posts: As a rule, posts tagged ‘crack’ or another variation that indicates you’re not posting an IC reaction do not count as in-character posts since in most cases the post sacrifices setting or characterization for the sake of a joke.

Meta: Being “meta” is when your character knows things that you, as a mun, know but they shouldn’t. This can be things like your character knowing something from another mun’s threads, or knowing the series other characters are from, or knowing things about other characters that they didn’t find out. We do not allow meta in the group unless your character has demonstrated the ability to do so in canon with legitimate series. For example, if your character is familiar with an in-canon series named ‘Pretty Guardian Magic Moon’ that isn’t grounds to know about the real series ‘Sailor Moon’. Basically, if the source material avoids referencing real series, your character shouldn’t be either. You should generally be conscientious of using meta and, if someone is uncomfortable with you doing it with their series, you have an obligation to cease. As an additional reminder: characters cannot access materials (be they games, anime, manga, etc.) that would give them meta information regarding another series. Characters are given brand new phones when they enter Spirale as well, so they shouldn’t be bringing games in from their own world. 

RULE CHANGES:

Canon doubles: We are removing the “ask me” option on the app and instead replacing it with a place to add detailed notes on which doubles are allowed and which aren’t. This is to make sure everyone has a fair chance to app a canon double and not have to worry about someone saying no specifically to them. It also removes anxiety about having to approach others for permission. You have one week from the posting of this update to change your permissions if they’re set to “ask me”, else we’ll assume you’re okay with them. 

Canon doubles redux: Similarly, we’re instating a policy for everyone to make an announcement on your blog when you open your canon double permissions. This is so everyone has a fair chance to grab that version of the character if they want.

Dashboard blogs: Blogs that are dashboard only make it extremely difficult for us to find information we need or to navigate your blog, so we’re making it official policy to not allow blogs to be dashboard only! If we discover it, we’ll send an ask requesting the function be turned off.

D&D rolls: D&D stats do not carry over to Isola in the same way that they work in the world of D&D. There are no DMs here to make sure things are moving smoothly and fairly, so, while dice rolls can be fine and fun if you’re deciding whether or not your character lands a sick flip off of a building or smashes face first into concrete, remember that if it involves another character then you have to collaborate with that mun—the dice can not tell you if you succeed or fail because that could step into the territory of god modding.

Reserves from mobile games: New characters added to mobile games can be reserved or apped the moment they're scheduled to go live in-game (in the case there's extended maintenance using this time is fine, but announced delays still apply). In the case the character isn't playable yet but is included in a story update, these characters are case by case so please run it by the mods first.

OTHER ACTIVITY STUFF:

Branch out!: We’ve gotten some complaints about the word count required for things like drabbles during events, but the reason we set the threshold so high (as well as the reason for the rule about meme responses and other such things) is because we want to encourage people to interact with others more! MFRP is all about interesting interactions between characters who would otherwise never collide, and it’s a great way to meet new friends as well, so feel empowered to reach out to others to plot or even just chat!

HOARDING GUIDELINES:

Along with this policy update, we’re going to make another post detailing the things we look at when hoarding reports are filed. The post will cover what hoarding is, what to look for if you think you can file a hoarding case (and how to do so), and what can help prevent one from being filed against you.

These guidelines are not new rules. We’ve simply had a lot of questions lately regarding hoarding, and a general desire to be more transparent about our processes, so we wanted to give a detailed explanation of all of the things we consider when determining the cases. We hope the explanation will help everyone feel more comfortable about their own activity as well as be more comfortable sending in hoarding cases for us to look into.

New Fan Troll

So one meme lead to another and now we have a new Troll:

Despap Citato. 

So let me paint a picture for you:

I was working on TreeSim and needed an icon for “no items equipped, you’re just going to pick some fruit” and Loss on Discord suggested I modify the “john reaching through time and space” picture to be that. 

But then people asked if it could be an emote for ‘papping’ and i was all sure why not, and then we started to meme  and I said “des :pap: cito” and suddenly things spiralled out of control until that became a fan troll whos quirk was saying things like :pap:er and :pap:yrus and such. Clearly they are a pale player, and since the arm is coming out of a green portal, maybe they are a Lime Blood who can make portals to pap people at any distance.

THEN someone made a DollSim entry for them (which I promptly shoved into premade dolls for posterity, in the “rp” section)

Of course, now that they have a DollSim string, that means we can also see their ‘canon’ data, from the links on that page, and let me tell you, it only gets better.

First off: Their Troll call lets us know that they are an aspiring legislacertaor (he sentences you to catch these hands, of love and support), and that flower garland is actually several heads of lettuce. We don’t talk about the vomiting robot incident:

He’s a Sylph of Rage (despite what his sign says, apparently) and uses grenadekind (imagine that with portals that let you put your hands wherever he wants). He also is in every quadrant except pale with himself (pale is open to the world obvs).  He also uses Miracle Modus which i imagine involves just shoving a hand into a portal and accepting whatever he can grab.

ooc. so like this got incredibly long and because i don’t want to spam my dashboard i’ll put it all under a readmore.

😡 : Worst role play-related encounter and what advice you would give to others to avoid similar situations?

ooc. oh damn, that’s kinda a can of worms to open. i’ve been on here for way too long and therefore also went through quite a lot of stuff. some because it happened to acquaintances of mine, some because it happened to me personally and also some that i caused (though that was more private stuff between friends).

i think the biggest advice that i can give, because i’ve been on both sides of this is to remember that roleplay is a hobby. there was a time when my real life was too horrible for me to handle and i let my depression rule my life. i was always inbetween wanting to get help and not wanting to, getting help but then not really listening too much. it was very stressful and definitely an incredibly big downward spiral for me. there was no other way but down during that time.

i became obsessed with roleplay, because it was better than dealing with all of my problems. and i kinda lived through my main ship during that time. there was a lot going on, but it still doesn’t excuse some of the bullshit that happened. i wasn’t myself and i could literally not think straight. in the end i had a breakdown. contact got broken off which to be fair was better for both sides and i finally put tumblr down a month after my breakdown and finally actually focused on getting better. getting help and actually working with it.

i still struggle and i’ll probably always struggle, but this was an incredibly dark time and i legitimately regret it and never want to fall that low again. tumblr isn’t worth it, roleplay isn’t worth it.

so my advice? don’t forget that roleplay is a hobby. it’s okay to be invested, but if it’s all you care about it becomes so easily unhealthy. and believe me in the end you’ll destroy way more than you’d want. take breaks. focus on other things beside rp. get another hobby. distract yourself. and as cliché as it is, live your life outside of the internet.

ooc. i really miss james and kenna, the ship i had with @selfcentred. we developed these lil idiots so much and had so many verses/AUs and it was a joy to see these two interact. we put a lot of thought into the relationship and it was just so much fun to play with. i legitimately miss these two.

also everything @interstel and i ever roleplayed or plotted. james and reagan, the captain and the witch, will forever be in my heart. also because it gave me my original character madeline who i love and adore and won’t ever forget.

✿ : Fondest role-play memory, between muns?

ooc. oh my, there are again so many i could mention (including the two lovelies in the ask above!). ollie is a sunshine and deserves the world. cosmo and i have known eachother for nearly three years? (daaaamn.) and without cosmo i legitimately wouldn’t be here anymore so i’ll always have her in my heart.

and roleplay introduced me to @spiidernerd and @honnleathrose who are talented and creative and with whom i’ll play in 324988575 years on pc together because it’ll only be then that i can afford one.

and last, but definitely not least, rp brought me to @smrtsass and @cupidcrime who have been there when i was having a hard time, who listened and meme-d and brought me to laugh. who are both so talented and creative and who put up with my (weak af) puns.

like i’ve been through shit, and met or saw some of the worst people through roleplay. but it also made me meet these amazing ones too and for that alone i wouldn’t change a thing.

웃 : An existing character you’ve played in the past that you miss?

ooc. not gonn lie, i really, really, really miss my captain hook account over at theinfamouscaptain (which tumblr won’t let me tag for some reason). but i just don’t have the headspace to write him at the moment and with school and all it’s just a bit too stressful.

though i have to admit that there are times when i ponder a lot if i shouldn’t revive him again even if it’d just be pretty low key.
