A federal judge sticks it to those who characterize January 6th defendants as "persecuted patriots" or "hostages".

Judge Royce C. Lamberth of the US District Court for the District of Columbia is a Republican who was appointed by Ronald Reagan to the federal bench in the 1980s. But Judge Lamberth has had it with defendants and others who attempt to portray January 6th criminals as martyrs.

This is an excerpt from Judge Lamberth's Notes for Resentencing (PDF) for defendant James Little dated January 25th.

The Court cannot condone the shameless attempts by Mr. Little or anyone else to misinterpret or misrepresent what happened. It cannot condone the notion that those who broke the law on January 6 did nothing wrong, or that those duly convicted with all the safeguards of the United States Constitution, including a right to trial by jury in felony cases, are political prisoners or hostages. So let me set the record straight, based on what I’ve learned presiding over many January 6 prosecutions, hearing from dozens of witnesses, watching hundreds of hours of video footage, and reading thousands of pages of evidence. On January 6, 2021, a mob of people invaded and occupied the United States Capitol, using force to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power mandated by the Constitution and our republican heritage. This was not a protest that got out of hand. It was a riot; in many respects a coordinated riot, as is clear from cases before me including Hostetter (21-cr-392) and Worrell (21-cr-292). “Protestors” would have simply shared their views on the election—as did thousands that day whon did not approach the Capitol. But those who breached and occupied the Capitol building and grounds halted the counting of the Electoral College votes required by the Twelfth Amendment. The rioters interfered with a necessary step in the constitutional process, disrupted the lawful transfer of power, and thus jeopardized the American constitutional order. Although the rioters failed in their ultimate goal, their actions nonetheless resulted in the deaths of multiple people, injury to over 140 members of law enforcement, and lasting trauma for our entire nation. This was not patriotism; it was the antithesis of patriotism. And the rioters achieved this result through force. Not everyone present that day was violent, but violence is what let them into the Capitol. At first, a police line protected the Capitol, but eventually law enforcement was subjected to such force by such a mass of people that the rioters pushed through. Upon entering the Capitol, many rioters vandalized and looted, some hunted for members of Congress.

This was a federal judge calling January 6th a "coordinated riot". We all know who was the mastermind of that riot.

It's interesting that they are inflexible paladin types explicitly in the flavor text, more so than other archons. Is it because they're less humanoid? The wheel archons are among the least humanoid of the archons, and among the least forgiving. Wheel archons are stubborn and indomitable, and rarely go on missions requiring tact or diplomacy. They are often sent to deliver a message to a prophet, or as a herald of the armies of Heaven. A wheel archon’s view of good and evil is rigid to the point of inflexibility. It feels like I wrote a lot less this year than previous years, but I think it’s less about word count and more that my two big projects, Fugue and Mezzo, sucked up my entire mental bandwidth and I just didn’t have capacity to kick out one shots like I have in the past. I have a bunch of ideas for fun one shots, but not enough time or energy to realize them.

Also, this number is by no means accurate. My Mezzo Leftovers document is sitting at 11.3k, and Fugue finished up with a scrapheap of 28.3k. Gosh, it's hard to believe Fugue was actually 2023. It feels like years ago. Just writing it aged me 10 years. XD

Smut scenes written (if applicable): None. Did I daydream frequently and in great detail about how Sam and Kaidan reconcile in ME3? Yes. Could I write it in my sleep at this point? Also yes. Did I write a word of it? No.

New things I tried: 2nd person POV, Mordin POV, and EDI POV were all new and very scary things I tried, and think were largely successful (jury is still out on EDI and Mordin because only my beta has seen it, but I’m pleased with them).

Fic I spent the most time on: Probably Mezzo, because I wrote more of it than Fugue in 2023.

Fic I spent the least time on: Probably Capriccio, because it was short and mostly wrote itself.

Favourite thing I wrote: Well…I wrote so little outside of the long fics, because they have sucked up all my time and spoons. Fugue is something I am so proud of, but Mezzo has been so fun.

Favourite thing I read: A Sip of Serenity was a Spec Recs Kaidan & Liara treat fic for me by @screwyouflightlieutenant and I love it with an unholy love. Also, Madrigal and Volta by @dandenbo are PHENOMENAL stories you should drop everything and read.

Writing goals for next year: Finishing Mezzo sounds ambitious, but I guess I can be ambitious in January. XD

On a day bristling with important news, the criminal indictment of the “star” witness against President Biden and Hunter Biden in the impeachment inquiry was a watershed moment for the truth. Per the indictment, the GOP’s primary source of allegations of corruption against President Biden lied to FBI agents, concocting a fiction for MAGA media outlets and politicians eager to spread slanderous statements.

The revelation that the “impeachment inquiry” against Biden was built on a house of lies comes hard on the heels of an admission from one of the primary proponents of the 2020 election fraud conspiracy theory that it has no evidence to support its allegations of widespread fraud!

Together, the false stories of “Biden’s corruption” and “election fraud” were major components of the GOP playbook in the 2024 presidential election. Those narratives have now collapsed in a spectacular implosion. That collapse is good for President Biden politically—but the immediate political ramification is not the most important point.

The major takeaway is this: The Republican party is built on lies and sustains itself through lies. They know it. We know it. The media knows it. But now, we have proof that the bad-faith headlines, breathless “whataboutism,” and lazy “both-siderism” of the media are part of a disinformation campaign that must stop.

These twin developments are a watershed moment for the truth.

Let’s take a look.

DOJ indicts FBI informant who was the primary source for allegations of corruption against Joe Biden.

The House “impeachment” inquiry has been a conspiracy theory in search of evidence from the start. House Oversight Chair James Comer took testimony from disgruntled IRS agents with no personal knowledge (but plenty of opinions) and from Hunter Biden’s business partner, who said Joe Biden never participated in his son’s business dealings.

Desperate for proof, Republicans turned to a confidential source, Alexander Smirnov, who claimed to have personal knowledge of alleged bribery ($5 million) by then former Vice President Biden arising from Hunter Biden’s involvement in a Ukrainian energy company (“Burisma”).

On Thursday, a grand jury in the Central District of California issued an indictment against Smirnov for lying to the FBI. The indictment is here: US v. Smirnov | Indictment No. 2:24-CR-00091-ODW. Per the Times,

The longtime informant, Alexander Smirnov, 43, is accused of falsely telling the F.B.I. that Hunter Biden, then a paid board member of the energy giant Burisma, demanded the money to protect the company from an investigation by the country’s prosecutor general at the time.

Importantly, the indictment alleges a political motivation for Smirnov to lie about Biden:

Mr. Smirnov’s motivation for lying, prosecutors wrote, appears to have been political. During the 2020 campaign, he sent his F.B.I. handler “a series of messages expressing bias” against Joseph R. Biden Jr., including texts, replete with typos and misspellings, boasting that he had information that would put him in jail.

Smirnov’s allegations were demonstrably false, as explained by the Times:

In 2015 or 2016, Hunter Biden promised to protect the company “through his dad, from all kinds of problems,” Mr. Smirnov falsely claimed to his bureau handler in 2020, according to Mr. Weiss, who has charged the president’s son twice over the past year on tax and gun charges. This claim was easily disproved, prosecutors said: Mr. Smirnov was only in contact with Burisma executives in 2017, after Mr. Biden left office — when he “had no ability to influence U.S. policy.” Mr. Smirnov told F.B.I. investigators that he had seen footage of Hunter Biden entering a hotel in Kyiv, Ukraine, that was “wired” by the Russians, suggesting that Russia may have recorded phone calls made by Mr. Biden from the hotel, according to the indictment.

But Mr. Biden had never been to Ukraine, let alone that hotel, prosecutors wrote.

Importantly, the indictment was obtained by special counsel David C. Weiss, who was appointed by Merrick Garland to investigate Hunter Biden. Weiss—who was first appointed as a US Attorney by Donald Trump—has obtained two indictments against Hunter Biden for gun possession and tax evasion charges.

The fact that Smirnov was indicted by the special counsel appointed to investigate Hunter Biden rebuts any notion that the indictment is politically motivated.

Smirnov’s false statements provided the only substantive allegations in the sham “impeachment inquiry” in the House and received massive coverage by an eager news media (especially on Fox News). Those news organizations should retract or correct their previous reporting. It is not enough to report on the indictment of Smirnov.

The most important point is that the GOP’s narrative of a “Biden crime family” is a fiction based on perjured statements provided to the FBI! Tell a friend!

Okay, I can help give some suggestions. (Also, woke up to this and brain didn't want to work. Forgot how to work links lol.)

I written down all the characters you have already chosen and I am going to assume you'll be doing the possession way since you have Golden Freddy and Glamrock Freddy listed twice as two different characters. So this helped with the decision of one. And I am curious on how many characters you plan to do since FNAF has almost the same amount, if not more, of characters as Cookie Run.

Here's my suggestions (everyone, please check the links in the question. It gives a basic layout to OG gang.) You don't have to take them but this is the best my brain can do after an hour of deciding.

Mrs. Afton/Ballora: Peperoncino Cookie but just because you have Chili Pepper, Red Pepper, and Bell Pepper as the Afton kids and I think it would be funny.

Just Ballora: Whipped Cream Cookie. Obvious answer.

Bonbon or Funtime Bonnie: Moon Rabbit Cookie. A bit obvious but I think it's cute.

Toy Bonnie or Toy Chica: Cotton Candy Cookie. Can't decide which one but she fits the vibe. Maybe Toy Bonnie can be Parfait (recast her as a different version?)

I was looking through the community college catalog and they have a day trip for two and guess what day? My colonoscopy day! Hello! I'm back with one of my conversion ideas for Pathfinder 1E, and this time, I'm converting one of my favorite 2E monsters - the Rust Hag from the AP "Blood Lords". To be more exact, the Rust Hag was statted in "Graveclaw", the second issue of that particular adventure path.

I've tried to be as faithful as posssible to the original while at the same time make it as balanced as possible, but I will admit I'm kinda new at this. So, if anyone wants to make suggwstions or corrections, they are welcome to.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Dodge Bullets (Ex): A rust hag gains a +4 dodge bonus to her Armor Class against any attack with firearms.

Greater Wielding (Ex): Firearms wielded by a rust hag are considered light weapons for the purposes of the Two-Weapon Fighting feat and to determine penalties for two-weapon fighting.

Hagshot (Ex): Any firearm wielded by a rust hag never misfires. It is also considered as having the ghost touch weapon ability for the purpose of hitting and damaging incorporeal creatures.

Rusting Touch (Sup): A rust hag’s touch quickly corrodes metal. If a rust hag hits with a claw attack, a single metallic object that the target is wearing or wielding takes 2d6 points of damage, ignoring its hardness. This damage is not halved as usual for attacking objects.A successful Reflex saving throw (DC 17) avoids damage, but an unattended object is not allowed a saving throw against this ability. Against a ferrous creature, this ability instead deals 2d6 points of extra damage per successful attack, with no saving throw allowed. Objects made of starmetals like adamantine or orichalcum are immune to this ability. The saving throw DC is Charisma-based.

Rust hags are an unusual breed of hag with a knack for technology and firearms. They dwell in slums, abandoned factories and other places of urban decay, where they hide out amongst the dregs of society, corrupting or preying on them as their whims dictate. A rust hag mocks the convinction that towns and cities are symbols of civilization and offer greater safety to their people, and seeks to undo these delusions by inciting violence, plunging a seemingly peaceful quarter in bloody riots, or by forcing city dwellers out of the buildings that they wrongfully see as a defense against chaos and savagery. Many rust hags set themselves up as leaders of violent street gangs, using their skills with firearms to command awe and obedience from their underlings. Other rust hags are solitary, concocting plans to drive city dwellers away and turn a once-flourishing town into a dismal ruin.

A rust hag is particularly tall and brawny for hag standards, easily standing more than 6 feet tall and weighing just a little below 200 pounds.

When a rust hag joins a coven, the coven adds discharge, foster hatred and protection against technology to its spell-like abilities.

I saw your 3 ships.... Just so you know, I have been absolutely losing my shit over CR campaign 2 for the past few months. I'm SO close to finishing (I'm going to finish on Sunday), and I think I'm going to explode.

The jury's still out on if I ship those two together or not, but I do love their relationship (however you choose to describe it).

Have you seen any other campaigns of CR? (I have not, but I'm going to go back and watch Vox Machina next.)

Hey Morri!! Tbh I have not finished CR2 mostly because I listen while driving or doing very specific tasks so it takes a while to get through. That said, I've listened to a couple of the Exandria off-shoots and a bit of CR3 as well. I did try to listen to CR1 (Vox Machina) but it was very very hard to focus on and I gave up. Do want to watch it before I cancel my Amazon sub tho!!

AH man this is an extremely difficult question because I have a bunch of moments I adore in MR. okay hmm lemme list the top three off the top of my head: (in no particular order?)

the last part of the final episode in San's MSS (translation video here! text TL was by me lol)

that was the moment that fully cemented HimeSan's position as my number one MR ship, even beyond freaking YunaJuri, and I could literally feel that happening as I got to that part. it was like. HOLY SHIT. San (with her significant discomfort in being vulnerable or showing any vulnerability or perceive "immaturity" etc) actually did cry in front of Himena because Himena said it was okay to be childish and. and like. everything.

(including the moment immediately after where the scene suddenly darkens and San - now suddenly calm again - tells Himena her resolve to do whatever it takes, even if she's hated or feared, to get to the top!! and that being a directly mirror to Himena telling this to San about her own resolve earlier!! and Himena telling her she really likes San's idea of subduing surroundings with force, and also saying she KNEW San was 'serious trouble' from day 1 and San being like "I don't want to hear it from you, Princess" and Himena replying to tell her she meant it as a compliment!! etc etc. my beloved dynamic)

2. the final duel between Yuna and Juri in Crimson Resolve (credits to Ashes for the TL!) ..... also, btw. this is an event you can watch without needing to know anything else from the game and it's incredibly good imo pspsps

HOOOLY shit. CR was really an extremely unhinged event and yunajuri / juriyuna is an incredibly unhinged ship because like. WOW. dragon-tiger legendary homoerotic rivals and like a lot of other stuff I can't explain well rn. like this is not even the only example of it, but this was indeed the scene that really got me fully 100% really insane about yunajuri (because I got to see that Yuna really DOES fully... well in internet terms, "matches Juri's freak" to the whole after all! and stuff).

[important note: the event is in just live2D format (this is a gacha game, and this event doesn't get animated sadly), so we can't SEE exactly how they're moving, but like. see above? Yuna switched to telepathy suddenly while threatening to tear her neck apart. that basically means that she is most likely already biting onto her neck or at least touching it with her teeth. so yeah. literal canon neckbiting. and uh. might I add that Yuna being a strongly and overtly tiger-themed character doesn't help with this here, because as a part of tigers' mating rituals, the dominant tiger bites the neck of the submissive one while they mate. ... actually on that note have you ever heard of "Dragon-Tiger Intercourse", which is a real and very core concept in Taoism? yeah.]
