At 6:32 am (PST) Jupiter goes into Aries - I made a whole post about it already! Anytime a long-transiting planet goes into a new sign there can be a shift felt; a shift in focus and an overall “vibe” change that may be difficult to explain. From sleepy and blind-faith oriented Pisces, which took us on a ride through some scary events, to brave and confident Aries, we may find ourselves feeling ready to “jump” starting on the 20th of December this year. The moon has a very busy day, and it starts out in a sextile with Pluto, which steadily strengthens and goes exact later in the evening. The moon sextile Pluto aspects opens us up to a deep well of inner strength, and can also heighten our intuition. We may feel somewhat more ready to take on what’s needed in order to ensure a sense of stability and “getting ahead”, especially with Pluto in Capricorn interacting with the Scorpio moon; Pluto is Scorpio’s modern ruler, and so there is a somewhat extra tinge of harmoniousness coming through this aspect on Tuesday. We may also be able to face certain aspects of our (and others’) inner darkness nearly unscathed, on this day. 

At around 10:00 AM the moon forms a trine with Neptune in Pisces, which can open up portals to the ethereal, as well as give us an imaginative boost for the day. Things that are hidden may whisper to us, as the moon in Scorpio represents what we cannot see with our tiny human eyes. We may need to be reminded to not get lost in our emotions or be overstimulated by how things feel; Neptunian and lunar energy commingling can sweep us out of the 3D and cause us to feel distracted. 

While the moon has us potentially inward and receptive to the slightest emotional movements and vibrations (Pisces and Scorpio) there will be an intense square with Saturn at around 10:00 AM (PST) . Saturn moon squares can bring depression, desire to withdraw from the world, or just an overall sense of heaviness. What Saturn likes to do is draw us away from anything that’s not “productive”, stabilizing or useful, and bring our attention to the things that are within our control and that contribute to success. Unfortunately Saturn does not have much sensitivity or tact with the tenderness and security-centered moon.  With Saturn aspecting the moon harshly on Tuesday while it occupies Aquarius, we may have difficulty relating to others or feeling a certain sense of belonging. Combining this aspect alone with all the Neptunian and Pluto energy seems as though we may have a really difficult time facing the external on this day; the inner world and dreamy escapism may be much more tempting than anything else.

The sun will be squaring Jupiter in Aries, which is an important aspect as Jupiter performs its ingress. The sun represents our vitality and lifeforce, as well as what drives us within a sense of purpose. Jupiter is higher ideals and abstract concepts and knowledge, and so with the two squaring off there could be a disconnect in terms of how we feel about ourselves vs who we really are. We may want to act without the necessary knowledge and minus a necessary linear plan. We may also find that our motivation burns out more easily than it can be applied. The remedy to balancing this aspect will be to truly ground and recognize our practical limitations at any given time, and to understand that something rushed is likely not done correctly.

Something I haven’t seen a lot of people talking about in the Nope fandom is how every adult in the audience and on set leaves Jupe to die when the attack starts. This is the pinnacle of exploitation. When Gordy starts attacking everyone flees; nobody thinks about the innocent child trapped on the stage with him as he rampages. So many people made the decision to let this child (who has no idea what to do in this situation; hell most adults wouldn’t know what to do) stay on this set with a raging predator and protect themselves. I know it’s instinct to protect yourself to some degree, but this adds to the idea of spectle and exploiting people/animals for entertainment. Jupe was literally nothing more than an object for them to laugh at; the audience was using him for entertainment, the directors and producers were using him for money. Nobody expected him to come out of that room alive, and the saddest part is nobody cared. Children don’t have the capacity to evaluate the safety of the environment they’re around; they depend on adults to do that. All of those directors and producers and cameramen knew that Gordy could become dangerous someday, but Jupe trusted him implicitly, trusted them that he was safe. 

In the end, Gordy reaches out to him. Part of the reason for this is probably because he didn’t make direct eye contact, but I think there’s something symbolic about it too. They were both put in danger on that set, they were both confused and scared and alone, and the people around them were only exploiting them with no care whatsoever for their safety or protection. It makes sense that Jupe would trust an animal more than a person - the people who were supposed to keep him safe failed him. 

I feel like this also is super relevant to the way child actors are treated today. Jupe was put in an environment where he was actively exposed to a predator every single day. People put him in this position; he didn’t choose this. He didn’t know the dangers. He was exploited and he was hurt for it, left alone when the predator attacked. I feel like this correlates with all the children who are abused on movie and tv show sets who nobody stands up for when the predators come for them. People knew Gordy was a predator and they let him around Jupe anyway. People know that certain people in the industry are predators, and we let children around them anyway.

This movie gave me a lot of feelings. Feel free to let me know what you think!

For Wednesday, December 21 

At around 1:56 pm the sun goes into Capricorn, shifting the energy from jovial but restless sagittarius to somber and results-driven Capricorn. The sun is Squaring Neptune (even though it’s quite a wide orb, and as an aspect it is passing steadily) which puts us into a need to synthesize more of who we are with the reality of our self expression as it is. We may feel as though we’re not doing enough to really “put ourselves out there”, and with the added Capricorn sun energy at 0 degrees in the afternoon, the pressure may temporarily feel increased: to be recognized in some way, or to be putting more effort into whatever it is we’re feeling called to do. 

The moon-trine Jupiter aspect that began forming the day before goes exact at around 12:00 AM, which could bring us a general sense of wellbeing or lighthearted connection to “bigger things” than the mundane or tangible. With the Sagittarius moon trining Jupiter we may feel optimistic and philosophical about things, and we might experience a heightened sense of gratitude or “luck”. Sagittarius moons are rife for adventuring, exploration and travel, and with Jupiter, its ruler, amplifying this energy we may feel excitement about new places we could be going to. Overall we could feel a sense of optimism and charge around more humorous or light hearted things, even while the sun is beginning its transit in Capricorn. 

There will be multiple facets to the moon on Wednesday, and thus there could be complexity of feeling. Even with the ultimately positive aspect to Jupiter, the Sagittarius moon is opposing retrograde Mars in Gemini, which represents a difficulty integrating abstract ideas and knowledge with practical application. Mars in Gemini is rushed and motivated to communicate and enhance its prowess through movement and immediate locale. Gemini somewhat represents what is immediate, and Mars compounds that through its aggressive expression of direct energy. With the opposition Mars is uprooting the moon in a sense that our ideas and excitements may feel aggressive or rushed in some way. We may be overly convinced that we know exactly what we’re doing, while really, there are definitely pointers we could afford to take from others. Our capacity for cooperation during this transit may suffer to some extent. To balance this aspect it will be important to think before we speak and to remember that there’s always something to be learned, in any given situation. This will also be a somewhat tough aspect when it comes to tact, and we may be aggressive with our views and opinions.
