she returned back to her mansion w arte and pollo, immersing herself in food and food culture. banica studied food and became known as gourmand all throughout her country, beelzenia.
she travelled abroad with arte and pollo to improve her country's food culture, visiting elphegort (The country of green from pride arc), asmodean (the place where lust arc takes place), levianta and marlon.
she learned of several famous cooks, among which was josef crim. she chased after him to learn from him but then found out he was dead.
"Supported by Juno, Banica introduced her ideas to Beelzenia, greatly improving its food culture and adding to its cuisine, radically increasing the domestic foods in the empire as a result. During this period she began developing a new wine, dubbed "Blood Grave", with the cooperation of the local farmers."
bc of all her contributions, she even received a cool title of "Noble Gourmand Banica"!!
then her dad died
wahoo! food and food culture <3 she can be a gourmand. that's an impressive feat. also a lot of the country names remind me of the names of the demons in mythology (christian? i'm not really sure) w/ lucifer and beelzebub and belphegor and stuff.
poor chef dude being dead </3 but at least she has made her country have more food culture!!!! and she has a cool title <3

Evillious Chronicles and Hetalia crossover fic 8
A fanfic of if the nations of Evillious Chronicles have representation like in Hetalia.
Hetalia by Hidekaz Hiramuya
Evillious Chronicles by Akuno-p / mothy
Italy as Beelzenia
Romano as Tasan/Ra-Tasan
Spain as province of Conchita / Re-Tasan
Portugal would be the province of Grabia, because it’s location is simillar to Portugal’s place in relation to Spain.
plot: Beelzenia in the event of Evil Food Eater Conchita.
warning: Angst and horror.
After the Venomania event, a lot of fight happened in Beelzenia: Asmodean get his independence, the last Duke of Gastolle was killed and with out a descendent, Conchita family was choiced to take care of Re-Tasan.
Beelzenia: “Hey, Re-Tasan, I got a new Duke to your lands”
Re-Tasan: “Oh! Okay, who was choiced to take care of me?”
Beelzenia: “Is mister Tetippea Conchita, from Conchita family”
Some time later, his descendent renamed Re-Tasan province of Conchita province. Some time later, Conchita was suffering of Gula disease, he wasn’t going to stop eating.
In EC 305, a harsh famine swept through the Empire. So, Banica Conchita went to a travel around the World to improve Beelzenia’s food culture through her studies. When she, Arte and Polo returned.
Conchita province: “Welcome back, mistress Banica, and you too Arte and Pollo.”
Arte and Pollo: “Hey Tonny! Is nice to see you too.”
Banica: “How are you going, Antonio? Have Beelzenia and the others provinces helped you?
Conchita Province: “Yes ma’am, They suported me a lot, and I was invited by Grabia to the harvest festival in August.
Banica: “It looks fun, I’d like to go too, but first, I need you to contact Beelzenia to a meeting with Empress Juno”
Conchita province: “Yes ma’am”
Some time later, Ron confirmed her appointment at the imperial palace, and Banica told to Empress Juno about her research to improve the food culture of Beelzenia, Juno suported her ideas and were addicted to beelzenians cuisines. And Banica got the tittle of “Noble Gourmand Banica"
One day, Banica started to adopt some strange habits, like eating numerous live insects and spiders as a dessert in a banquet at the mansion of Duke Oruhari, she isolated herself of outside world leaving Pollo and Artie the management and supervision of her territories. Beelzenia started to worry about it.
Beelzenia to empress Juno: Your Highness, We haven’t news of the province of Conchita for a while, he haven’t told us what’s going on there.
Tasan: I don’t know what’s going on there, but I know that bastard, Re-Tasan wouldn’t make us waiting for response like this.
Lucifenia: And I heard rumours about undead army guarding Conchita’s masion, it’s scary to think something like that.
Grabia: I haven’t see them since the banquet in Duke Oruhari mansion, and she was acting strange.
So, Empress Juno ordered to a army deployed a unit of the Imperial army towards her mansion, but the army was defeated by the undead horde. It scared Beelzenia, and Juno hired Elluka Clockworker to help investigate the situation.
Some time later, Elluka returned from her investigation, she says that found Banica’s mansion empty, only her child left behind. Later, Beelzenia and others provinces asked about where is Conchita’s representation, Antonio.
Elluka answer: I didn’t find him anywhere, I’m afraid that he was eated by Banica Conchita.
Tasan: No way! How it is possible?
So, Elluka Clockworker had to explain about the seven deadly sins and the vessels of sin that she was searching. She suspects that Banica Conchita may have contracted with the demon of Glutony, what made her able to eat anything she wants, even living beings. This information made them realize that, Conchita was no more.
After that, Conchita’s territory was incorporated into the Beelzenias region.

Dessert–Combo Platter of Varied Desserts; Scene 10
Evil Food Eater Conchita, page 250-256
They left town, and when they stood on the mountain thirty minutes later Elluka and Platonic had reached the front gate of the Conchita mansion.
Certainly, just as the minstrel had said, there was no sign of anyone outside the mansion or inside.
"Well then, how are we going to get in?" During the trip Platonic had made scattered complaints the whole way, but with the mansion before them she seemed to have finally secured her resolve, and asked her question with serious eyes.
"We're not going any which way in particular. We'll go through the front door."
"Huh?! But the gate might be locked. I could open it up for you if you want, but--"
"That won't be necessary."
Elluka snapped her fingers, and with a click the lock was undone--the gate opened all too quickly.
"…Ah. You just used some unlocking magic didn't you, Miss Elluka. That's great--if I had a spell like that I'd be able to steal as much as I wan--"
"It's impossible for you," Elluka replied immediately, cutting off Platonic's words.
"Yeah yeah. Guess I don't have a shred of magical talent."
They entered the main gate, and advanced through the gardens. According to Platonic when she'd snuck in before there had been lots of white livestock grazing around inside, but as expected none of them were there now.
"First I suppose we shall go meet with the mansion's owner. Platonic, where is Banica Conchita's room?"
"Uuh, if I remember right it's a corner room on the third floor."
Even after entering the mansion there wasn't a soul around. As there was no sign of anyone appearing to deal with Elluka and Platonic, the two of them moved on without hesitation.
"--Maybe everyone's already fled." Platonic said to Elluka, keeping her voice low.
"Fled? The Beelzenian army surrounds all the checkpoints leading to other regions. They couldn't get out that simply."
"It's easier than you'd think to get around the checkpoints. I've done it plenty of times before."
"…Well, at any rate, let's search the whole mansion. We'll consider the possibility that they've escaped after that."
The two climbed the stairs, and arrived at the second floor.
At that point, Platonic noticed a noise that she'd heard from a nearby room.
"…Sounds like there's someone here."
"Let's go in."
Elluka opened the door without hesitation, and went inside. Platonic timidly followed after her.
There was no one inside the room, but this time they heard much more clearly than before what sounded like something moving.
It was coming from the fireplace. The two of them peeked inside, and lying down there was a white pig wearing a necklace of roses.
"…Was it hiding here? Seems like it's hardly breathing now."
"Platonic, poke it."
"N-no way! I was bitten by this thing before!"
"Touch it, I command you."
Platonic resignedly reached out and hesitantly poked the dying pig on the stomach with her index finger.
In that moment, the pig's body crumbled in the blink of an eye, leaving behind only bones.
"Well, good gracious! Platonic, you've remorselessly slaughtered an innocent little pig! How cruel!" Elluka cried in an affected tone.
"You little…That wasn't me! Why in the world--"
"--The pig was already dead. Just like the Pale Man in the cell. It had been revived by force using some strange power. In other words, this pig returning to the soil like this--"
"….That means that the source of the strange power has vanished?"
Elluka sighed regretfully.
"Let's go to the third floor. Conchita's corpse is likely to be in her room, or else somewhere else in the mansion. It'd be great if we found the wineglass with her…but my hope is slim."
.
On the third floor was Banica Conchita's room.
The sight that they both saw when they entered it was far different than they'd imagined.
There was a single figure inside.
But it wasn't Conchita, nor was it the twins that were her servants.
The two of them dropped their eyes to a desk in the center of the room.
.
Lying there was the wineglass, stained in blood--
And a small baby lying sleeping on a plate.
--In the end, Elluka and Platonic were unable to find Banica.
She had unexpectedly vanished from the mansion without a trace.
Upon receiving a report on that from Elluka, Empress Juno declared to outside countries that Banica had gone missing. Naturally, leaving out the parts regarding the existence of the dead soldiers and that she'd been plotting a rebellion.
Having received that report, Empress Juno judged that Banica had fled to foreign territory.
The Conchita territory once more fell under rulership of the imperial family, and eventually it was officially annexed into the Beelzenias region. Incidentally, the border town of Gasto was brought into Rucolebeni, which gained the large-scale townscape that it has today.
The baby that had been in the Conchita estate was at first made into Juno's adoptive child.
However, there was opposition from those around her, and so eventually things calmed down by having the baby raised as the child of Juno's servant.
Among historians there are those that posit a theory that proposes that child's descendant was Germaine Avadonia, the hero of the Lucifenian Revolution, but it isn't very well endorsed.
As for what happened to the wineglass--I can't rightly say.
There is the theory that Elluka took it with her after that, and it's also said that Platonic outwitted Elluka and secretly stole it away.
In regards to historical developments, the country of Marlon won its war, and the country of Lioness perished.
There's no one who knows what happened to AB-CIR.
A war began between the Beelzenian Empire and the country of Asmodean, and, stretching on so long without a resolution, it impoverished both countries.
Taking advantage of that, the Lucifenian territory of the Beelzenian Empire began to work towards its independence, and so Duke d'Autriche, taking on the name of Lucifenia the First, founded the Kingdom of Lucifenia.
In this way begins the history of the Beelzenian Empire's decline--
And it is here that the story of Banica Conchita, and your meal for the day, has come to an end.
Did you enjoy yourself?
As for compensation you may pay your bill at the front desk.
Please note, we don't allow credit--
…Do you still have some business here?

.

Agh! Stop it, don't you take that out of here!

Dessert–Combo Platter of Varied Desserts; Scene 6
Evil Food Eater Conchita, page 232-237
The walled city in the northwest section of the Conchita territory, Re Tasan.
The name "Re Tasan" had the meaning of "Vassal State to the Great Tasan Empire", and the country that bore its name had once existed in that land. The city's name had its origins in that.
It was said that until the country of Re Tasan was annexed by Beelzenia, this location was used as a fortress. However, it had largely lost its original purpose, and was presently little more than a town surrounded by high walls.
Elluka and Platonic arrived in this town resting on the border between the Beelzenias region and the Conchita territory.
They were there now, in the Conchita territory. From what she'd heard from Juno, Elluka had reasoned that Banica Conchita was possessed by something inhuman, and so she'd thought that they'd face some sort of resistance on the way up there.
However, in truth they'd arrived cleanly without any interference. Perhaps it was a good thing that they'd come by themselves, without any soldiers accompanying them, but thinking on the case of the imperial army soldiers being killed four months back it was unusual that visitors from the Beelzenias region would be accepted into this town under the Conchita territory without reservation.
But any confusion on that point was resolved by meeting with the town mayor and hearing what he had to say.
As a matter of fact, governance of the territory by Conchita had already broken down. It seemed the current state of affairs was that the town mayors received no commands or direction from their regional lord, and so they would each impose their own municipal government on their own.
"This is one of the aforementioned 'Pale Men'."
The mayor led Elluka and Platonic to their jail, and showed them the Pale Man locked up in one of its rooms.
"Th-that's it! It was one of these guys! That's what I saw at the mansion!" Platonic cried the moment she saw the Pale Man, pointing at it.
Until she'd heard it from Juno, Elluka hadn't known that Platonic had snuck her way into the Conchita mansion. Though they'd been living together for close to a year, Platonic had hardly told her anything about what she'd done as a burglar, and she still had dodged on telling her the real reason for trying to steal the twin swords of Levianta.
It was just that Elluka wasn't the kind of person who liked to question other people about their pasts. It was a different matter if it was necessary for her own goals, but if not then forcibly interrogating someone about things they didn't want to talk about could only put them at odds. It wasn't like Elluka herself didn't have a dark past behind her.
The Pale Man did nothing, merely standing in the cell in a stupor.
"We went to great pains to capture it alive. Fortunately this Pale Man was relatively tamer than the others, and so we were able to subdue it with only three soldiers receiving serious wounds, but--"
While listening to the mayor's explanation, without warning Elluka drew close to the iron bars.
"I see…A 'dead soldier', huh? Mayor, can you open this up for me?"
Elluka pointed to the locked iron cell door.
"N-no you can't! Like I said, this one is extremely dangerous--"
"Just open it up."
Pressed on by Elluka's quiet determination, the mayor reluctantly unlocked the cell.
The Pale Man made no immediate move to attack. It only loitered around as though on guard, seeming to have ascertained that the atmosphere around it had changed.
"I hope this works out…"
Elluka put her palm on the Pale Man's forehead, and whispered something.
Watching behind her, Platonic witnessed the Pale Man's entire body shine for just a moment.
"UUU…"
Arms dangling languidly, the Pale Man began to softly moan.
"What's your name? Can you say?"
When Elluka asked her question the Pale Man finally stopped groaning, and then slowly spoke with human words.
"UU…Ron…Ron Grapple…"
"Mr. Grapple. Please tell me. What on earth happened in that mansion? How did you end up like this?"
"I-I…work…at the ma…nsion…ate…the Baemu."
"The 'Baemu'?"
"The…glass…the…wineglass…inside it…cursed…"
As the Pale Man spoke, he was faintly trembling. After a moment his right arm came off and it fell to the floor, bones and all.
"Lady Banica…the twins…demon. Please…take…wineglass."
"Is the wineglass the source of everything?"
"Yes…take…wineglass…save…Lady Banica."
The Pale Man's left arm also fell to the floor. It seemed to be just barely managing to stand up.
"Got it. I will make sure to retrieve the wineglass. And I'll find a way to save Banica Conchita too. So…relax, go to sleep."
"Please…Lady Banica…and the child…"
"'The child'? What child--"
"…UUUOOO!"
The Pale Man's whole body began to crumble at once.
Once it fell to pieces on the ground, it turned into a mere skeleton.
"…I guess that's it."
Elluka adroitly turned and left the cell.
"But I know the source of all that with this now. There's a 'wineglass' in that mansion, which drove Conchita mad and has the power to bring forth dead soldiers. This must be what I'm searching for, a--"
"No waaay, you're really something Miss Elluka!" Platonic suddenly started to give Elluka a forced compliment. "I seee, a cursed wineglass huuuh? What a shock to learn such a fearsome thing was in that mansion."
"…My, how transparent of you. I'm quite sure you must have known about the wineglass--"
"Nooope! I had no ideeaaa. I just slipped in there looking for something valuable in a noble's house!"
Though Platonic tried to defend herself with a cheery tone, she looked interminably shifty-eyed.
If the wineglass was the item that Elluka thought it was, then that meant it had the same peculiarities as the real "Twin Swords of Levianta".
If Platonic was after not just the twin swords but also the wineglass, then that meant that she was fronting for someone else who was looking for the same things that Elluka was--that was what Elluka surmised.
In any case, perhaps she needed to investigate into Platonic a bit more deeply when this situation was put to rights. All the more if this person was going to be getting in Elluka's way.
"…Very well. At any rate, with this my goal is clear. I shall make preparations, and then march to the Conchita mansion!"
"Kaaay. Good luck with thaaat."
"…Obviously I'm taking you along, Platonic!"
"Huh!?" In that moment, Platonic's expression dropped. "N-no way! No way am I ever going back to such an awful place!"
"I don't know the mansion's layout! I have no choice but to have you guide me through it!"
"Then I'll just tell you the layout! Go by yourself ya oldie!"
"'Oldie'!?"
"Uh…crap."
"…I'm determined. I'll take you along even if I have to force you. Even if I have to kill you I'll bring you along. …You have no right to veto, maid."
Gazing side-eyed at Elluka, giving off an ominous aura, and Platonic, trembling like a rabbit, the mayor nervously jumped at the chance to suggest they go outside for the time being.

Viande-XXXX Steak; Scene 3
Evil Food Eater Conchita, page 181-184
Carlos had thought at first that the man named AB-CIR was a mere swindler.
But after being captured by him and having his face changed, he had to admit that AB-CIR was a true "sorcerer" after all.
If he'd continued to be held prisoner as he was, he would undoubtedly have been used as a political pawn. Not just that. Thinking of the relationship between Marlon and Lioness, it wouldn't have surprised him if he had ended up being killed.
Either was something that Carlos had wanted to avoid. Right around the time he was in jail wondering if there was any way he could possibly escape, he overheard the conversation between AB-CIR and that thief.
He hadn't seen Banica directly since their engagement was broken off, but word of her activities had reached Marlon. That she was traveling every country, studying the various "foods" there, and working on the advancement of Beelzenia.
Carlos had thought that was so like Banica, who had told him that she liked eating; at the same time, he was surprised at her display of dynamism.
Speaking of himself, he had continued to spend his days smoldering around in the palace, as he ever had. The once bashful Banica had become so assertive, and yet nothing about him had changed at all.
Why had he not persisted in getting engaged to her back then in the first place? He put on a strong front, but he couldn't defy all those stronger than him. He was pitiful back then.
Out of the desire to be even just the slightest bit closer to Banica, Carlos had started to study cooking under the cooks on retainer in the palace.
Naturally, he had no illusions of being able to catch up to her in that. There was a difference between their respective enthusiasm towards food to start with. Even so, he was able to manage to acquire some degree of skill. Though, he was to the end stuck at the level of a hobbyist, and so no one would eat anything that he made.
He had first learned that Banica had gone mad upon hearing the conversation between AB-CIR and the thief. He had stopped hearing any more rumors about her after word got around that she'd become the lord of the Conchita territory. Empress Juno had likely endeavored to keep any further news from leaking to outside regions.
Carlos had offered his assistance to AB-CIR right there on the spot. First, to obtain an excuse to get out of the prison, and second…he wanted to meet her one more time, and see the truth for himself.
The actions that Banica had taken at that banquet thirteen years ago--Perhaps it all had something to do with that. If that was the case then he wanted to face her again, and not run away this time.
If he could be forgiven, then maybe this time--
Carlos had prepared for AB-CIR to reject his proposal at first. Carlos had also been ready to try and persuade him when he did--but AB-CIR had readily accepted his request.
"I see--How interesting," he had said, looking upon Carlos with a smirk.
The female thief butted in, listening off to the side, "Is that alright? I'm sure he's just saying that as a pretext to escape."
"Even if so, I don't care. He was captured by me. I should be free to let him loose." Contrary to Carlos' expectations, it seemed that AB-CIR had no interest at all in the relationship between Marlon and Lioness, or the war itself. "I'm shorthanded so I must use all that I have at my disposal. If he says he's an acquaintance of Conchita, then he can be of some use to me."
However, it seemed as though the lady thief couldn't get behind AB-CIR's reasoning.
"Isn't he worse off, with her already knowing his face? Conchita keeps outsiders away from her mansion. The only people she lets in normally are her servants and her cook."
"--Didn't you tell me that cook was dead in the mansion?"
"Yeah. He turned into a monster."
"Then that means there are no cooks there right now. From what I'm hearing, the odds of her hiring on a new cook are quite high--Prince Carlos." AB-CIR turned to Carlos and asked, while maintaining a gentle expression, "Can you cook?"
"…A little."
"Then if you can I'd like to have you enter the mansion as a cook. I once killed a chef by the name of Joseph, long ago. …Could you not ask me about that? In the end it was a misunderstanding on my part, and I did something bad to him. --Well, it's very convenient now, as I will have you take Joseph's place."
"No…hold on a second. Like she said, Banica and I know each other. I'll be found out instantly if I try to disguise myself that way."
"Normally, yes--But I am able to change you to resemble the real Joseph."
Then, the cat that had been riding on AB-CIR's shoulder ran off somewhere.
When it returned, the cat was holding a single, peculiar sword in its mouth.
AB-CIR took the sword from the cat and unsheathed it.
"I'm still not used to handling this sword…Though it should be fine if I can regulate it well."
He unlocked the door to Carlos' cell and entered.
"Don't move…Unless you want to get possessed by a demon."
Carlos made no move of resistance in response to AB-CIR lifting the sword overhead, both his hands bound.
"Here!"
The sword was brought down on Carlos' eyes, and there he passed out.
He woke up several hours later, and when the female thief showed him a mirror, he discovered that he'd gotten a new face.

Sorbet-Plateau Sherbet; Scene 3
Evil Food Eater Conchita, page 144-152
The "Association" secretly existed in nearly every land in Evillious, and each of the branch heads in it were all called by the name "Bruno".
Their job was to assist people in underside professions, like Platonic. They would refer talented people to their jobs, and provide information about their target--naturally, they required a considerable fee for it all.
Platonic had great pride in her skills as a burglar. That was why, excepting times when she had to make a getaway, she didn't use the "Association" much. That was because asking them for assistance meant decreasing her compensation for her work.
Only, the amount that AB-CIR had paid her this time was higher than the fee for any job that Platonic had done before. Perhaps his financial standing had improved because he had started working in Castle Hedgehog in Lioness lately. However, the fact that her pay was so much also meant that this job was going to be a difficult one.
Platonic slipping up in the Demilamb mansion was because she'd been careless in her information gathering. He wouldn't forgive another mistake. The "Association" took a high price, but she couldn't deny they provided a good service in exchange.
"Is this your first time in the Conchita territory?"
Bruno sat with his legs apart in a wooden chair opposite Platonic.
"Yeah."
"Well then first I'll explain the situation here. Did you have any trouble getting this far?"
"I did. Feels like they're paying extra attention to people getting entry into this territory."
Even though it was a land quite close to the capital, the Conchita territory did not adjoin any other countries, and was not politically very important at all.
If she had to come up with something, there was the walled city to the northwest, but that was a relic of the days long since passed when Beelzenia was still warring with the great Tasan Empire of the west. Nowadays it was little more than an ordinary town, with no demand for it as a fortress.
Platonic didn't really get why they had such stringent restrictions on entry.
"It's by decree of Empress Juno. She's afraid of it getting out that there's something bizarre going on here," Bruno explained.
"Something bizarre?"
"It's Banica Conchita. She's the female lord here, and lately she's begun to take some very strange actions."
The only thing Platonic knew about Conchita was that she'd contributed to Beelzenia's food culture, and become lord by her achievements.
According to Bruno, two years after she became the lord here, she had suddenly fallen ill.
"At first people were saying that her life was in jeopardy, but then somehow she bounced back. It was after that that it happened--that Conchita started to go funny."
The first time Conchita showed herself in public since her recovery was at a banquet being held in the estate of Duke Oruhari, the lord of the Grabia territory.
"Up until that point she'd been known as an extremely fat woman, but they say that when she arrived at the banquet she was thin--a strong change from how she'd been before."
"Maybe she wasted away from her illness?"
In response to Platonic's guess Bruno continued speaking, seeming not to fully agree despite giving an inclination of his head. "Maybe. But that's not the important thing. After the meal at the banquet, Conchita began to eat something else that she'd brought along with her. Everyone who saw it went into an uproar."
"What in the world was this Conchita eating?"
Bruno paused for a moment, clamming up, before he replied with a grim expression, "…Bugs. Live ones."
"Eugh, gross."
The only people she could imagine eating bugs were poor people on the brink of starvation and witches who lived out in the middle of nowhere.
Though come to think of it, the Conchita mansion is set on a mountain far from town…nah.
Platonic pushed away the fantasy that had started to come up in her head.
"Isn't it absurd for a noble to be eating something like that in public?"
"Exactly. Banica's not been invited to any more parties since that banquet."
"That's only natural."
"After that, Banica hired a man into her mansion. He was an oriental chef who knew how to make unorthodox meals. So he created dishes using bizarre creatures the likes of which no one had ever seen, and then every day Banica would eat them.
"What kind of dishes in parti--" Immediately after Platonic started to broach the question, she hurriedly took it back. "No, nevermind. You probably shouldn't tell me."
"That's wise. The day I heard what the menu was, I lost my appetite for the entire day. Eventually Conchita was no longer able to be satisfied with it, and proceeded to start eating even more impossible things."
"…A summary. Just tell me a summary."
"Let's say, there exist varieties of mushrooms that you should never eat. Platonic, have you ever eaten mellalga mushrooms?"
"Of course not."
The mellalga mushroom was something said to be representative of all poisonous mushrooms, which once you ate it would make your whole body grow swollen and red as though you were being burned.
"But Conchita did. And it's not just plants. There are animals that are poisonous too, and she's been regularly eating them without excising the poison. But she hasn't died or even become bedridden."
Platonic's impression of the state of affairs was gradually getting more horrific.
Eating bugs, devouring poison--maybe Conchita really was a witch.
"Even the oriental chef known for being a weirdo was rightly disgusted by his employer's abnormal dietary needs and fled the mansion, apparently. After that Conchita's hired on other chefs in succession, but there's no one who stays there long. Her gruesome tastes are escalating, to the point where now she'll apparently even use tachinid flies, vomit, and excre--"
"That's enough. I'm gonna puke."
"If you do you should wrap it up and take it to the Conchita mansion. She'll probably buy it from you."
Bruno spoke with a joking tone, but Platonic didn't laugh.
"Cut it out--At any rate, I get now that Conchita's a freak. It'd be pretty inconvenient for the empress if word got out that one of her 'Five Dukes' was like that."
"The Conchita family was pushed out of their position as lords for another incident in the past as well."
"Then she should make Conchita quit immediately."
"Only three years have passed since she became lord, and furthermore it was Empress Juno herself who appointed her as such. If she keeps repeatedly replacing her lords people will start to question her judgment…Well, that's probably the gist of it, I'd think."
Even the association couldn't claim to clearly understand the thinking of a country's central figure, it seemed.
"Right now Conchita's repulsive eating habits are well known amongst her people. They've come to avoid ever going near her mansion. Because you can always smell the stink of something rotting in its vicinity. When you break into the mansion I would advise wearing a mask."
"--Well, even if the owner is a creep that doesn't have any relation to my job. All I'm doing is stealing that wineglass from her, you know."
"I wouldn't be so sure about that. Conchita is a woman who can eat poison and still remain healthy. She might actually be a monster."
It was possible Bruno was still joking when he said that, but perhaps he was also half-serious. Despite the relaxed nature of his expression he wasn't smiling in the least.
"Oh gosh, I'm shaking." Platonic clutched at her shoulders as though she was frightened, but she wasn't really all that scared at all. On the contrary, she figured that even if this Conchita wasn't a normal person, it wouldn't have any impact on her work. "But let's just talk about what I need to find. I'm not some hero out to go vanquish a monster."
"If only. All of the burglars hired by AB-CIR to slip into the mansion until now have gone missing. Hopefully they weren't eaten by the lady of the land in there."
Platonic's frowned at Bruno's words.
"--What? This is the first I'm hearing of it."
"Hm? Hearing of what?"
"That AB-CIR's tasked other burglars with this before me."
For Platonic, the sorcerer AB-CIR who was her current client was an old friend. He had originally been a patron of Platonic's mentor, but when that mentor died Platonic had started getting contracted to do his requests.
After several jobs had gone by Platonic had thought that they had built up a mutually trusting relationship, but it seemed that was a miscalculation on her part.
"That jerk didn't say one word to me--if he wasn't so handsome I'd clock him one."
"Ha ha ha. What a disaster for you."
Platonic sternly glared at Bruno as he laughed loudly. He held up his hands before his chest as though to pacify her.
"Now now--Although, if you really are the best thief in Evillious, you'll manage somehow won't you? It is because AB-CIR values your skills that he entrusted you with this."
"…Fine, I'll give it a shot. Tell me the layout of the mansion and how many people are in it!"
Platonic put her hand on the table and brought her face so close to Bruno's that she could feel his breath.
