PREVIEW
You learned very early on that Junhui has a thing for appearing in your videos but remaining anonymous. He often wears a face mask and makes sure you only see him from the neck down. He’s never taken his clothes off on camera. He has no problem fingering you until you’re practically screaming or playing with you or using toys on you.
He’s sitting on the edge of the bed with you straddling his strong thigh. He’s dressed in business attire coming over straight from work.
He always tries to see you before you go live. He made a joke about you riding his thigh and the next thing you knew he has you naked with your camera on. Your lips are painted a cherry color as your leave lipstick stains across the column of his neck. You grind your hips against this thigh getting the friction you desperately need.
It’s a blessing you live alone so you can be as loud as you need. Your fingers cling to his white dress shirt, rubbing yourself against his thigh harder.
“Fuck,” he softly moans.
As you fall apart it takes everything not to moan his name. You instead opt for moaning, “baby” your name you only refer to him as on camera.
After you finish your stream you lay on your bed completely naked watching as Junhui stands next to the bed staring down at you. “I wanted to suck the life out of you on camera.”
He chuckles, “you can do it now off camera.”
“I thought you had to meet Seungcheol, Minghao, and Joshua at the bar?” You know he doesn’t have time for that.
“They can wait.”
“I shouldn’t make you late again,” you sit up slowly.

SVT Reacts to Seeing Their S/O in Glasses for the First Time 🤓
Tumblr media
~ SFW ~
OT13!Seventeen x Fem!Reader
Warnings/Content: SFW, Fluff!, can be read as established relationships or new relationships, just boys being smitten! 🥰
Author's note: Sweet boys being sweet! They are whipped! This one's for my fellow glasses girls out there. (No affiliation with eyebuydirect, they just had a wide range of frames lol)
************************************************************************
S.Coups
You walk out of the bathroom in these frames, with your hair gathered in a lose bun, ready for bed. S.coups is lounging on your bed already, but he has never seen you in glasses before and does a double-take, looking up from his phone. They suit your face so well. It’s like he’s seeing the real shape of your face for the first time. God, she's so cute, he thinks. “You’re so cute,” he hears himself say aloud. You turn to him suddenly, a deep blush spreading across your face at his sudden compliment.
Jeonghan
You walk into the coffee shop wearing these, your hair falling in tresses over your cute cream-colored sweater. You looked so relaxed and cute. Jeonghan almost didn’t realize it was you when he saw this cute girl in glasses walk through the door. “Wah, Y/N!” he can’t help but cry out, beaming as you get closer. “You’re so cute!” You tease him about sounding so surprised, but he ignores you and tells you that he loves how you look in your glasses, he thinks you're adorable. He can’t stop smiling and simping as you drink your coffees.
Joshua
You meet Joshua at the museum wearing these. You were running late and didn’t have time to put in your contacts. You were dressed in a chic turtleneck and grey marbled overcoat. He spotted your high bun right away, and as soon as he saw your glasses he smiled. “I didn’t know you wore glasses,” he said. It’s true, you hadn’t really worn them around him yet. You didn’t prefer them. “You look sexy.” he said softly, and you felt something catch in your chest. maybe you would wear them more often...
Jun
As Jun walks by the laundromat, he does a double take. He sees you by chance, sitting at a counter in the window passing the time reading as you waited for your laundry to finish. He was surprised that he recognized you—he had never seen you wearing glasses before. You were concentrating hard on the book you were reading, so you didn’t see him kind of watching you from the sidewalk. You had your hair half up in a messy-but-sexy bun, long strands hanging between you and your book. You chewed on your fingernails as you read. So cute, he thought. He finally enters the laundromat and comes up behind you. You jump a little, but quickly recover and smacking him with your book. “You look cute,” he says, ignoring your playful smack and tucking a strand of your hair away from your face affectionately, making you blush all of the sudden.
Hoshi
You told Hoshi that you would give him a ride home from dance practice, but he almost misses you in the company parking lot because you're wearing glasses he’s never seen you in before. You only need them to drive at night, but you kind of like them. They frame your face really well and draw attention to your pretty eyes and cheekbones. Hoshi is beaming at you as he gets into the passenger seat. “Ah...” he sighs out softly, a wry smile on his face, as if he's wistful he hadn’t seen you in your glasses sooner, “so you wear glasses, ah...” You smirk, glancing at him sideways. He’s obviously admiring your face in these frames. He holds your hand as you drive, continuing to stare at you while you giggle at his blatant simping.
Wonwoo
Wonwoo has been waiting for a chance to see you in your glasses! You'd mentioned wearing them sometimes when you got tired of your contacts but you’d only recently found frames that you actually kind of liked. You finally wear them one day, styling them with your favorite oversized sweater and baggy pants, your hair in a high, fluffy ponytail. Needless to say, Wonwoo is! smitten!! He finds the dark frames so cool. You look effortless, your glasses adding some mystique to your already very beautiful aura. Unconsciously, he gets a little clingier with you... “What’s up?” you ask him as he fiddles with the sleeve of your big sweater, standing closer to you than usual. “I like your glasses,” he says, and his low, quiet tone makes your heart stop for a second.
Woozi
Woozi loves when you wear your cute glasses. He thinks you look so sweet and squishy, for real. He’d be all over you, pinching your cheeks and tickling you. He can’t help it, something about the big wire frames on your cute pouty face with your pink sweatshirt is just so cute. He wants to squeeze you like a plushy stuffed animal.
The8
He finds your trendy glasses particularly well suited to the outfit you’re wearing today. You look so cool. The whole look really aligns with your style: striking and simple. He catches himself staring longer than usual at your bone structure, really appreciating the naturally beautiful shape of your face and the sweetness of your eyes, accented by those simple frames. He is really staring at you, and you playfully push his face away, but he just keeps looking at you. “You’re so pretty,” he says, smiling at you. You can’t bring yourself to meet his overwhelming gaze, but he doesn’t even mind.
Mingyu
Mingyu sees you hunched over your laptop at the kitchen table when he gets home late. You’re wearing glasses as you stare at the screen, your hair up in a messy bun, wearing one of his sweatshirts. You look up at him as he enters the room, happy to see him and for the excuse to take a break from your studying. “I like your glasses,” he says as you wrap your arms around his middle and give him a big, stress-relieving hug. He pulls back to look at you again. “They really suit you.” You thank him and turn to sit back down, but he pulls you close again, still looking at you. “So cute!” he smiles as he slides his palms up to the sides of your face, gently squeezing your cheeks, puffing your lips out into a fish-lipped shape as he gives you a kiss on the forehead. You can only laugh at how over the top he was being over some plain old blue light glasses, lol.
DK
DK was kind of early to your apartment to pick you up for your date. He figured he could just hang out with you as you got ready. but you answered the door with your hair still up, a toothbrush hanging out of your mouth, and glasses on. he reflexively laughed at how cute and frazzled you were, but you cut him off by trying to ask him why he was so early. unfortunately, the toothbrush in your mouth turned your words to mush, only making DK laugh more at how cute you were, following you to the bathroom as you stomped away in a hurry to continue getting ready. he slowly stops laughing but continues to beam at you through the reflection in the bathroom mirror as he leans against the doorframe behind you, watching your face as you continue to brush your teeth and take your hair down. “You look so cute in glasses, y/n” he says, “why don’t you wear them more?” he pretends to pout, like you’ve been keeping this from him on purpose. “I always wear contacts,” you say, flustered at his presence behind you, the way he’s looking at you through the bathroom mirror. you move to take your glasses off, but you feel a hand suddenly grasping at your forearm. “No, leave them on,” he softly whines from behind you, and you almost jump away from him. but he’s holding you. you just hope that he can’t hear your heartbeat, it’s pounding so hard. “Okay,” you say, blushing beet red. DK just keeps hold of your arm, smiling at you as you both head out the door.
Seungkwan
You told Seungkwan to pick you up at the office after another long day. He hated to see you overworking yourself so much and brings snacks for the car ride home to cheer you up. You climb in the car, and he notices your new glasses right away. He loves when you wear glasses, he thinks they make you look so sexy and sweet. He keeps stealing glances at you as you vent about your day. As you make your way home, he lets his free hand idly float over to play with your hair, soon rubbing his thumb gently against the side of your cheek. You smile at the touch, grateful that he’s being so loving right now. “I like your glasses,” he says softly, and you blush at his earnestness. “They’re so pretty on you.” You float your hand up to his, cupping it against your face, planting a quick kiss on his palm.
Vernon
He opens the incoming FaceTime call to a familiar face, but with a new twist – he’s never seen you in your glasses before. “Do you want me to pick something up, I’m at the convenience store right now,” you ask him, looking at the aisles of snacks in front of you. he just watches you as you hold the tiny microphone built into the side of your headphone wire up to your pretty lips. your lips looked even sweeter and more plush contrasted with these frames on your face. “Did you get glasses?” he asks, not answering your question. “Hm? Oh no, I just hardly ever wear them.” “You look good in them,” he says, smirking at you. He looks whipped, you think with a little inward giggle. “Thank youuu,” you smile, ”I’ll get us some ice cream~.”
Dino
Sometimes you stop by the practice room when you know Dino is there very late to bring him a snack or to watch his new choreography. Tonight is the first night that you’ve gone to visit him bare-faced and your glasses on though. You usually get a little more dolled up, but you fell behind on all of the tasks you had to get done today and didn’t get around to primping. But, it turns out Dino doesn’t care. In fact he stops the choreo he’s in the middle of after catching a glimpse of you in your cute frames from the corner of his eye. “Wah, I like your glasses,” a big smile plastered on his face. He holds his arms out, reaching for you even as he walks across the practice room toward you. You meet and rub noses with your lightly sweaty boyfriend as he takes you lightly by the forearms, leaning toward you as he thanks you for bringing snacks. He can’t help but touch the frames on your face, taking in your more casual look. “How are you so pretty?” He breathes out, and you lightly smack him for being so candid in front of all the other dancers.

Fight for you
Tumblr media
Requested by @lachimolala-is-love-and-life Description: Locked away due to the controversy of your birth, you never really expected a normal life. Hell, you lived in a mansion guarded by dragons and yet one of those dragons has captured your attention with ease.
Pairing: Wen Junhui x fem!reader Word Count: 2.2k words
Tumblr media
In the kingdom of Lunarian, you had been born as the second princess and the fifth child under the royal name. But due to the fact that your mother had been a concubine and not the queen, you were quickly locked in another mansion away from the castle that your father and half-siblings lived in. Your mother lived with you, but she was bitter and mean. Her usual stance as the king's favorite had quickly fallen to his least favorite when she had given birth to you. You had looked nothing like the king, your hair (h/c) and your eyes (e/c) like your mother, and the usual magic light powers that ran in the family you didn't have.
And thanks to the queen, to make sure you and your mother remained in the mansion, a dragon was stationed outside at all times. They periodically changed and since you were seven, you often found yourself sitting in the garden with the dragon guard that was there that specific day.
The red dragon, Aelius, was around the most and generally one of the largest dragons. As dragon, he stood at the height of 85 meters tall, and his human height was about 2,4 meters tall. He tended to be a bit protective since you were only 8 years old when he met you, almost like a father figure.
Then there was the blue dragon, Kaimana, who was around when the tides were to her advantage. High tides, she was near and low tides she remained in the ocean. She was on the smaller side, more a sea serpent than a dragon in her own opinion. She's the oldest of the dragons and often is teaching you about every little thing she knew.
Lastly, there was the green dragon, Aase. He was the smallest dragon of the bunch, often able to hide in the trees as he watches his surroundings, only standing at the height of 3 meters in dragon form and 1,70 meters as human. He was the youngest and most playful, spending his time chasing you around the garden.
All in all, you never felt lonely in the mansion, even when your mother never wanted to be near you. Most days you were outside, even when it was raining, or in the library. You lived like that until your were 16 years old, when a new dragon was suddenly in your garden. A rather large dragon, scales a mix of gold and black colors and even some silver. He was laying on the ground, curled up under the morning sunlight.
"Who are you?" Your voice is soft, a hint of curiosity hidden in your tone along with a hint of discomfort. The dragon's eyes open and turn to you, a beautiful shade blueish grey with hints of brown. You feel your face heat up slightly as the dragon got up and stalked your way, tail swaying behind itself until it stood right in front of you. Then, in a second, the dragon form was replaced by a human form. A man, his hair a dark brown undercut and blonde on top, his eyes still that same shade of blue and brown, and his skin slightly tanned. Now, you knew that dragons tended to be extremely beautiful and/or handsome creatures, but this man looked ethereal to you. So much so, that you felt your heart skip several beats.
"You're the little princess, right?" He asked, tilting his head slightly as he inspected you. Without waiting for the answer, he started walking slowly around you. You followed him with your eyes, "Yeah... I am, I guess." You answer his question as he stands in front of you again.
"And you are?" You ask again, looking up at him again. He smiles at you, showing off his fangs unintentionally. "I'm Wen Junhui." He bows his head before looking up with a grin. "Pleasure to meet you, princess." He says in a playful tone before straightening his back again. You blinked before curtseying at him.
"I'm (Y/n), pleasure to meet you too. I assume you're here as a new guard?" You ask and Junhui nods, still smiling at you. Before you could ask anything else, you felt a gush of wind that almost knocked you over before you heard a loud thud behind you. Aelius, already in human form, walked closer with a stoic expression like always. His whole demeanor radiated confidence and power, his form towering over you and Junhui. Junhui smiled even brighter before just lunging at Aelius playfully, only to quickly be held in a playful chokehold by Aelius as he ruffled Jun's hair.
"So, Jun is joining the guards here." Aelius explains as he lets go of Junhui, who just smiles again. "He's your age, so consider him a friend." Aelius chuckles and Jun nods. You glance at Jun again, taking note of the small freckles that seemed to appear when the sun hit his face.
The first few days that Jun's around are a bit awkward, getting to know each others interest. Jun, however, was a joy to be around, his joyful demeanor only brightening your days.
Today was no different.
The day had been gloomy, rain pouring down from the sky and drenching the grounds. Jun had been the one on guard that day, so you had invited him inside where it was warm and pleasant. So now, you were sitting by the fireplace in the library, the heat of both the fireplace and Jun keeping you warm as you read a book. Jun laid on the ground in dragon form as you leaned against him, reading a fantasy book as Jun read over your shoulder, his scales warm to your touch. It was calm and peaceful, and you wouldn't trade it for the world.
Jun suddenly let out a huff as he changed into human for and laid his head on your shoulder. "I'm bored..." He pouted as he hugged you from behind. You smile and raise your hand to scratch his hair, which makes him purr softly. You giggle and continue, watching his eyes close as he leans closer to you almost like a cat. Then he moves so he's in front of you, moving to lay his head on your chest as he hugged your waist in content.
"Mhm... I like being your guard. Get to do nothing and get scratches" He purrs out and you can't help but chuckle at his comment. You pet his hair again, to which he sighs happily. The room turns quiet except for the wind outside and the crackling of the fireplace, Jun's purrs turning into soft snores as he falls asleep. Soon enough, you follow yourself as you fall into a peaceful slumber.
The next few weeks, you spend constantly with Jun. Even when he's not on duty, he is around anyway. Telling stories of places he had been, sharing stories of youth or just sunbathing in the gardens. You often found yourself wrapped up in Jun's dragon form by the end of the day, sleeping against the dragon's side as he curled around you protectively.
The other dragons often teased the both of you, whenever they found you and Jun together. While you ignored their comments and rolled your eyes at them, but Jun didn't share that aloofness. He often blushed at their comments, because he knew they were right.
To him, you were so much more than a friend. You were his world, his to protect, his soulmate... Even when he would never tell you that, you meant everything to him and he dreaded that one day he would outlive you. So he spend every second he could around you, possessive and clingy to compensate while hiding his growing feelings for you.
Tumblr media
It was when you turned 21 years old that it started to get complicated. Suddenly your father was interested in you again, speaking to for the first time in your whole life. Why? Because a neighboring kingdom wanted an alliance and the eldest princess had been married off already and thus you were the only left option.
It happened almost in a single day, you woke up and were met with your garden filled with about fifty guards and your father. You can see Aelius, Kaimana and Aase standing among the side. They all looked displeased as they look at the guards, clearly tense by the look of their postures and how their wings were spread in a tense way. You awkwardly head downstairs, frowning as you enter the front garden. Your father sees you, scowling softly as he sees you before motioning for some guards to grab you. You stumble back as the guards move to grab your arms, only to yelp when someone lands in front of you. Jun, wings spread in anger as he growls loudly. His teeth are bared, eyes glowing and his hair standing straight up in anger. The guards stumble back before drawing their swords.
You can barely say anything before Jun suddenly grabs you by your waist, then flying up into the air. You yelp, wrapping your arms around his neck and clinging to him as he flied in the air. You landed a few minutes later, far from where the estate was. Jun gently put you down on the ground, checking you for injuries with a worried look.
"Did they hurt you? Or touch you? If they did I-" He speaks fast, making you barely able to follow him. You cut him off, however. "Jun, I'm okay... Really..." You say as you grab his hands. He looks up before sighing, grabbing you back by your waist and hugging you tightly. Slowly, but surely, you hug him back, one hand in his hair to comfort him.
"God... I can't lose you." He mumbles against your shoulder, sighing heavily. You pause slightly at his confession, unsure what the sudden warm feeling in your chest was as he nuzzled his face against your neck. He pulled you even closer, not wanting to let go of you just yet.
When he finally let go, his face was just inches from yours. You feel your face heat up slightly at how close he is. "What do you mean..?" You finally dare to ask, gulping as you await his answer. He looks at you, a soft blush coating his face as he leans back a bit. He mumbles softly, but you can't hear him and asked him to repeat.
"I love you!" He exclaims loudly, eyes screwed shut as his face turns redder. You look at him in shock as he looks down, hiding his face on your shoulder. The warm feeling in your chest grew warmer, your heart beating out of your chest. You gulp, unsure how to react to his sudden confession. You tried to understand the feeling in your body, the warmth in your chest as he held on to you. Then you hug him back again, arms around his neck.
"I think I do too..." You reply and he instantly looks up, his face morphing from shock to pure excitement. His smile is so wide that you can see his fangs clearly, the blond part of his hair glowing up slightly and his eyes practically glowing.
"Really?! You mean it, right?!" He exclaims and the second you nod, his arms move snake around your waist and lifting you up before spinning you around in the air. You yelp, wrapping your arms around his neck before laughing softly as you look down to him. He's still smiling so brightly, nuzzling his nose against yours. He sets you down eventually, the sun already starting to set below the tree line.
"Let's find some shelter..." He mumbles, picking you up once more in his arms and flying back up in the air. He only flies long enough until you reach a cave, which he casually walks inside of. It's clearly a place that he frequented. Furs, blankets and pillows covered the back of the cave and even a fire place that was self made. He puts you down on a makeshift bed, the furs and blankets warm against your skin. Jun lays down beside you, hugging you once again with a soft purr.
From then on, you live in the cave with Jun and he took great care of you. Every now and then, he'd bring you to the edge of the forest so you could go to the village, buying clothes or food and even just to socialize with other people. Otherwise he'd just spend the day with you, showing you beautiful spots he had found. A lake, crystal caves or even just a pretty flower he had found. There was not a day that he didn't tell you how much he loved you, spending nights cuddling with you as he whispered in your ear just how much he loves you.
He doesn't care that he's now technically a fugitive, he'd fight for you any day.

delulu thoughts: jun ver
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so we all saw the trailer huh?
imagine that irl
well kinda, but more soft?
i do believe that jun would be more carefree with giving with his affection toward you
the switch between being friends to a relationship was pretty seamless between both of you
your friends only caught on that you had taken the next step was that you were both now exchanging kisses in greeting instead of the regular side hugs
jun is so sweet when it comes to take care of you
if he’s the first to wake up, expect there to be some sort of breakfast for you being made, whether or not it’s a piece of toast is not the question (it’s the thought that counts)
when you both began sleeping in the same bed long before you became a couple, you invested in a sleeping mask for him
you had the scare of a lifetime when you turned to your side and were face to face with him sleeping with his eyes open
immediately, the first thing you did the next day was buy a sleeping mask for him djdjkd
he just laughed at you
if you wear his shirts to bed, i can imagine him putting on an article of clothing of yours, no matter how it looks on him
he WILL strike a pose or two
he’s just so silly sometimes really
this man always knows how to make you laugh
i imagine him being the PERFECT wedding date
he will be the first to suggest matching outfits
will buy you that one accessory that you stared at a second too long without a doubt
he is nothing but a gentleman to all your relatives
the kids in the wedding LOVEEE HIM
he is not afraid to get his clothes dirty while he lets your younger cousins chase him across the field
always comes back to you though
sits as close as your chairs will allow during the dinner
and slow dances with you
you can bet all your money that everyone wants a dance with him (you’re proven right when even the bride asks for a dance with him) (he gives you one of these looks •_•)
he is totally the type to teach you phrases in languages that you don’t know
however, he does trick you with a few curse words here and there but that’s like a given with learning any language
one of my favorite things ever about jun is that despite how silly and goofy he can be, he is just so caring too??
i could see him being the type to stay up with you while you finish up on a paper, regardless of how tired he is from being in the dance studio
whenever he’s away for work, he always makes sure to bring you a souvenir from wherever he goes as well as his favorite snacks from that place
fans are familiar with you already because he’s not too worried about keeping your relationship a secret
i mean he has a picture of the two of you as his lock screen for goodness sake HAHA
when it comes to his turn for his speech after his members at an event, he keeps it simple with a “this is for you, i love you”
fans went CRAZYYY for the way he smiled at the camera (sheesh me too tho)
fans have had a few interactions with you when they run into you in public, and they always say how you’re so nice and how you would even offer to take a picture of them with jun
(jun was flabbergasted when fans then asked him if he could take a picture of them with you (he obvi happily did so, even suggested group selfie of all of you))
(the picture went viral)
on your birthday, he buys you the cutest small cake that is enough for the both of you
and he wakes you up by singing happy birthday as he carries the cake in
it becomes a tradition to begin birthdays with eating cake for breakfast together in bed

Length: approx. 6.8k words
Chapter 19 - What Have I Done?
Tumblr media
Mina’s desperate attempt to say your name one more time fell on deaf ears, because you simply repeated your comment: “Don’t. Talk. To. Me.”
“Please, I just have to...”
“What? What else do you need to take from me?!” You asked. “That’s it! We are done here! You wormed your way into our lives and took everything from us. What else do you want?!” You motioned to the two men on either side of you. “Them?!”
“Woah, wait.” Jeonghan said quickly under his breath.
“My friends?! My college degree?!””
         “No, please.” Mina gulped.
“No, you don’t get to say please to me for anything! I cannot believe I let myself get fooled by you! The minute you told me you came here to be Mingyu’s wife i should have know not to trust you! But I’m an idiot, I will admit. The really thought you and I could be friends. But I was wrong. So now you have everything you came here for and you still ask me for more!? Give me a break!”
“Hey…” Joshua gripped your shoulder. “Take it easy.” You sniffled, feeling all of the tears you were holding back in the hallway with Mingyu finally begin to spill.
         “I’m sorry.”
“No you’re not!” You snapped. By now, the entire room had gone silent, staring at you. Mr. Kim and Mr. Miyou were stunned to silence, watching in shock. “How can you possibly be sorry? I can’t accept your apology!”
         “You need to listen, I-.”
“I’m done listening! Listening to you got me here in the first place!” You sniffled. “It’s okay if you never liked me, but you claim to love Mingyu and yet you make him suffer like this! I just can’t understand!” Mina finally fell silent, unable to stop you long enough to utter a full sentence. “And you invited me for what? To suffer? It’s cruel after all I did to befriend you and try to see you beyond our feelings. And yet despite all of this, for some reason, I came because I wanted to see if he was truly happy. I just want him to be happy.”
Mina pursed her lips together. She heard her father approaching, along with hotel security. Joshua and Jeonghan immediately took your arms.
“We got her.” Joshua said quickly.
“No need to make a bigger scene.” Jeonghan added. You turned to Jeonghan, who motioned to the door. “Let’s go, okay?” You nodded, before your eyes finally fell to Mingyu, who was standing just behind Mina, his father standing at his side and keeping him from getting closer. You shook your head.
“Don’t invite me to the wedding.” You said simply. Mingyu’s mouth immediately closed as he watched you walk out, Joshua and Jeonghan on either side of you. The hotel security followed behind, seemingly making sure the three of you actually did end up leaving. When the door closed behind him, Mingyu ran a hand through his hair.
“Ohhhh God. I fucked up, I fucked up so hard.” He gasped to himself. All he could see was your teary eyes and red face, a sight he would never unsee for as long as he lived.
“Don’t let that girl get you down.” His father said, a supportive pat too his shoulder. “Seems she’s crazier than we thought.” Mingyu couldn’t look at his father as he walked away with Mina’s. It took a few seconds for the rest of the party to devolve into its previous chatter, the music slowly replaying upon his father’s request. He watched as Mina immediately turned on her heel, heading down to the other side. Her friends from home immediately got up from their spots and swarmed her, comforting her from that ‘scary encounter’. Mingyu turned to the rest of his friends, and his expression only got more pained when he saw their looks of disapproval. “What do I do?” he choked out. “I didn’t mean for any of this to happen.”
“End your engagement.” Seungkwan said simply.
               “But.”
               “End the engagement.” Hoshi repeated.
               “My father will-.”
“Don’t end it.” A voice behind them alerted all of their attention. Jihoon stood there, hands in his pockets.
            “Pardon?” Minnie asked.
“Whos side are you on again?” Seungkwan asked. Mingyu watched Jihoon approach him, patting his arm since he couldn’t reach his shoulder. His lips tightened at the realization of the height difference, the one thing that could bring Mingyu any slight bit of amusement in this moment.
“Don’t dig yourself into any holes. It’ll work out just fine. Just give it some more time. For now.” He pointed to Mingyu’s eyes, which Mingyu only realized now were red and wet with tears. “Keep that expression.”
“What?” Mingyu tried to turn back to Jihoon for more information, but he too strolled out of the party room, the doors once again closing behind him. He sighed, chewing the inside of his cheek when he heard his name called one final time. He turned his head, seeing Mina reapproaching him. He gasped for a breath of air, shaking his hair.
“Yes?” he asked. Mina rubbed her eyes, sniffling. Mingyu kept his hands at his sides, despite the natural instinct to offer her a tissue. “Are you alright?”
“I am. I think I deserved some of that…” she said softly. After a second of scanning the area, her eyes finally landed on his, and widened when she saw how upset he was. “You’re crying?” she asked softly.
“Can you blame me?” he asked, finally raising a finger to rub his eyes.
Mina sighed. “I want to go home.” she said. “I’m exhausted.” Mingyu turned to his friends, who simply turned back to the table, forcing themselves out of the conversation. He looked to the door you strolled out of a few minutes ago. Sighing, he nodded.
“So do I.” he said softly. He knew, however, the car he was going to get into would not take him home, but to the buidling he shared with Mina. He felt as though he deserved it.
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
Mina sat on the bed in her room. She could hear Mingyu getting ready for bed himself in the other room, as he always did. She sat for a minute, listening to distant rustlings down the hall before rising up and heading down there herself. The hallway felt longer than it usually did tonight. She walked towards the door, reaching out and knocking on it once. Twice. Three times. When there was still no answer, Mina called out. “Mingyu?”
After an eternity of silence, the door propped open. Mingyu rested himself on the door frame, and Mina felt herself take a second to take all of him in. He was in a loose tee shirt and sweatpants, his hair still a bit damp after a shower. This would be the part of the fairytale where he would smile down at her with his infectious grin, pulling her close to him and whispering sweet nothings about how amazing the night was.
But as Mina recalled earlier in the evening, this was no fairytale. Mingyu’s smile was long since erased from the pages of her mind, and no matter how hard she tried, only blurry memories came to her now. Mingyu crossed his arms, resting his side against the door frame. Instead, he greeted her with puffy cheeks, and bags of exhaustion under his eyes that weighed his entire face down. “Yes?” He finally asked.
“Uh.” Mina was suddenly at a loss for words. All she could picture was Mingyu staring you down in the hotel hallway. His eyes prickling with tears as he tried everything he could think of in the moment to suppress them. She knew what she wanted to say to him, she had been practicing it for weeks specifically for tonight. Why don’t you join me? We are engaged, after all. The words seemed so easy to say, but why were they stuck in the back of her throat? She opened her mouth one more time, and saw Mingyu patiently waiting for her to speak. I can’t. She thought, already anticipating the answer she feared most. She shook her head. “Never mind.” She finally said. “I’m sorry. Goodnight.”
Mingyu nodded as Mina made her way back to her room. She heard him close his door only after she closed her own. Resting against the back of the door, she felt her legs give out all of the energy she had been trying her best to maintain through the day. Her feet were still throbbing from her heels, unable to support her anymore as she sank to the floor. Pulling her legs to her chest, she buried her head in her knees.
When Mingyu’s smile did form clearly in her mind, you were at his side. Fighting over photos during the fireworks, playing chicken in the ocean, nestled close during breakfast the last morning as he tried to steal some of your bacon.
It’s okay if you never liked me, but you claim to love Mingyu and yet you make him suffer like this! I just can’t understand!
It was a cruel irony, but it was one Mina felt she deserved after what she has done. The pain in your voice sat like a dagger in her chest, and she curled up into herself in hopes to push that feeling away.
“What have I done?” she muttered to herself. “I’ve ruined everything. I’ll never see him smile again…”
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
Only son of Kim Law Firm celebrates new engagement – Christmas wedding in the works!
You scoffed at the news title that was plastered on the front of the newspaper that morning and every morning since, tossing it into the garbage so you no longer had to look at the photos of the two together. It made you sick.
It had been a month since the engagement party, and school already back into the swing for the new fall term. Mingyu had yet to show up on campus, and once again the rumors as to why began to spread. Only this time, they were backed up by evidence. Where they even rumors in that case?
“I bet his new wife doesn’t want him on campus with some other girls…”
“I thought the same thing! I wouldn’t let my husband anywhere near his first love. He’s probably taking all online classes.”
“That’s so sad. He made my Korean law class just a bit more bearable, even if it was just the back of his head I saw…”
“Why is this happening again?” you sighed, resting your head on the table of the library. You and your friends had agreed to meet up in the library that afternoon after the lunch rush came to an end. The rumors continued to follow you, latching onto you and sucking the life from your veins like vicious and toxic mosquitos on a hot summer day.
“Don’t listen to them. They have no idea what they’re talking about.” Minnie assured, patting your shoulder.
“Yeah.” Hoshi said. You finally lifted your head up when you heard footsteps approaching. Looking over, you saw Joshua and Jeonghan taking their seats beside you. They hadn’t mentioned Mingyu since you three left the engagement party, nor had they checked their symbols on your hands. You knew better than to ask, though each day you were itching to know even more. Maybe it was those pesky mosquitos leaving bites.
“Please tell Jeonghan he’s in charge of dinner tonight.” Joshua said, his light-hearted comment causing you to look at him.
“I cooked last night. You need to start pulling your weight.” Jeonghan sneered, poking Joshua’s head as he snickered in amusement.
“I did breakfast.” He reminded. You rolled your eyes, closing your textbook. The duo was still playfully bickering until you quickly motioned your book in their direction. They flinched a bit, eyes wide as you simply set the book down and reopened to your page. “Hey!” He pouted.
“I’m not in the mood. You both want to keep staying at my house, you figure out the cooking.” You could practically hear the duo whine, and it only made you smirk as you flipped through the pages.
“You’re not a very nice tenant.” Joshua teased, but immediately looked away when you shot daggers in his direction.
Despite what had happened, and the duos hesitance to talk about it, you three had found a pretty comfortable routine in your apartment. One cooks breakfast, the other cooks dinner, and you always have a delicious meal waiting for you after a long day. At first the duo did it to help you as you got over your emotions. However, it remained this way even a month later. None of you complained. Well, until now. “I think we should get something to eat tonight, anyway.” You said.
Hoshi gasped, leaning forward. “Dinner party at your house?” he asked.
“What?” Despite the shock of the question, a grin formed on your face.
Minnie’s eyes widened. “I’ll bring the drinks.” Minnie cheered.
“I’ll grab snacks.” Seungkwan said, and Hoshi agreed to help.
“ Chicken .” Joshua and Jeonghan beamed. You laughed a bit.
“Uh, okay then. We can study, then.” Closing your textbook seemed to seal the deal. The idea of having plans tonight made you feel pretty good for the night ahead. You scanned the table as everyone seemed to chat with one another about the night ahead, seemingly more excited the more options were thrown onto the table. However, for some reason, you pictured the night ahead, a thought creeped into your head. One thought that you assumed had long since abandoned you.
              I wonder what Mingyu’s doing tonight….
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
“We’ll be right back!” Joshua called, both him and Jeonghan already out the door. You waved them off, taking the time alone to set up some snacks for your friends when they arrived. The group chat was buzzing with everyone sending texts about their arrival. Hoshi kept spamming the chat with photos, and you smiled at each one came into view.
          Prawn-flavored chips.
          Ice cream.
         Seungkwan’s face.
A blurry picture of Seungkwan’s face.
         Hoshi giving a piece sign.
Jihoonie would totally love that last one. You snorted at Minnie’s text as it flashed onto the chat. Both Hoshi and Jihoon frantically began telling her through text that she needed to mind her business, and it only made you laugh harder. As you finished setting up the last of the snacks in bowls, you sat on the couch. Immediately after sitting, your eyes came face to face with the dust-collecting snowglobe on your book shelf. You exhaled. “I’ve been meaning to put those away.” you mumbled to yourself in hopes it would finally give you the motivation to do so. It didn’t. Instead, you were brought back to when Mingyu first gave that to you.
“Wow, how cute!” Mingyu smiled as you took it into your hands, examining it. “Is this the Statue of Liberty inside?”
“Yeah.” he said happily. “It’s much bigger up close.” You laughed a bit, shaking the globe and watching as the fake snow danced around it. “I hope you like it.”
“I love it!” You gasped. “I feel like I’m really there just by looking.” Mingyu smiled a bit as you shook it once again, continuing to circulate the little snow particles inside. “It’s so cute…” you breathed again in excitement.
“Yeah…” Mingyu breathed, looking at your expression brighten the more you shook the globe. He coughed into his hand. “Hey, uhm…I wanted to tell you something.” He said. Your eyes shot up to him, sparkling in excitement as you waited to hear what else he had to say. “Ah.” Mingyu laughed nervously to himself. “I-.”
         “Hm?” You cocked an eyebrow.
“...Want to see pictures of Time Square? It’s huge.” When he held up his phone, you gasped, nodding in excitement. Mingyu scooted closer to you, holding out his phone as he began scrolling through the pictures.
A small smile formed on your lips as you remembered the excitement you had as he showed you pictures of New York, telling you stories of him time seeing all of the major buildings in the area. It was fascinating. “He must have wanted to tell me how he felt then, too…” you mumbled to yourself, chuckling a bit at the realization that was just a little bit to late. Eyes fell to the windchime above your balcony entrance, and the same thing: Mingyu gave it to you, tried to confess, yet got cold feet and simply told you about his trip. Again, the smile forming on your face was widening, and you chuckled.
“...I really need to take this stuff down.” you said again, biting your lip. Before you could do last minute spring cleaning, you heard a knock at the door. Thinking it was Minnie or Seungkwan, you hopped up. “Coming!” you called. You picked up your phone, taking a minute to scan through the constant flow of messages to see if one of them said they had already arrived. None did. “Huh.” You pursed your lips, heading to the door anyway. Another knock, and you picked up the pace. “Sorry. Coming!” you called once again.
Reaching forward, your hand gripped the doorknob, turning it and pulling the door towards you. As it swung open, you looked ahead to see a familiar head of long, black hair. A familiar porcelain face and a familiar set of moles decorating that face. Déjà vu raced through your brain, a marathon being ran in a matter of seconds. “Mina?” you finally managed to gasp out.
“Hey.” She smiled softly. “Bad time?”
You stared at Mina in awe for a few seconds. “What…” you felt your breath catch in your throat. “What are you doing here?” You asked. Mina seemed to think of her answer for a second.
“I wanted to talk to you.” She finally chose to say. “Is this a bad time?”
“Uh, yeah.” You said. “My friends are coming over and-.”
“I’ll be quick. I’m sorry. I know I always drop by at the worst time and leave a mess behind.” You felt the sadness in her voice as she said that despite her forcing out a laugh. That only made it more obvious. “Please.” She said.
“…Okay.” You finally said, motioning her inside. Mina nodded, taking her shoes off before padding into the apartment. You motioned her to the couch, where she sat herself down. “Do you want something to drink?”
“Oh, no. It’s okay.” She said. You watched as she looked around from her spot on the couch. Her eyes fell on every Knick-knack and souvenir she could find. “I think this is the first time I’ve actually been in your apartment for as long as I’ve known you.”
“Yeah…” you sat down on the chair, looking at her. “Now, what did you want to talk about?” Mina seemed shocked when you didn’t continue to entertain her with some small talk, but it made her smile.
“Right. I didn’t expect to come in and be treated like a friend after everything.” You watched Mina open up her purse, pulling out a small white envelope and handing it to you. She saw you hesitate, but it only made her push it closer. “It’s not what you think.” She finally said. You took the envelope into your hands, pressing the paper just a bit to see if it would provide a clue as to its contents. “Promise you won’t open it right now.” She said.
        “Why?” you asked.
“Just my request...” She said simply. You arched an eyebrow.
“Well, when will I be able to?” you asked. Mina laughed a bit.
“When I leave, if you want.” You scoffed a bit at the vagueness of the response, setting the envelope in your lap. You looked up at Mina again, wondering if that was the end of the conversation. You could hear your phone buzzing on the table. It was only a matter of time before your friends arrived, and you were hoping Mina would be long gone before then. “I want to say one more thing before I go.”
        “Okay.” You said simply.
“I’m sorry. Truly.” You had to suppress a laugh, looking away for a minute to collect yourself. “I’m serious. I’m sorry.”
“You had to come all the way here for that? It could have been a text. You said that when this whole thing started. You said it at the party. Yet, you don’t seem that sorry considering you’ve continued forcing Mingyu to live a lie.” Mina nodded.
“I know.” She said. “I’ve tried making the best of our situation. I thought once Mingyu started classes again, and interning with his father at the firm, he would start to feel better about the entire thing. I thought it would take his mind off of…” when she trailed off, you had to chew your bottom lip. Mina sighed before continuing. “But it didn’t work. It only made things worse. I’ve spent this entire two months trying to make everything feel as normal as possible. At every corner, I’ve failed.” She sighed. “But I think I’ve failed from the very beginning. I joined the game midway through and thought I could win. I told myself I wouldn’t cheat, but I snuck myself to the finish line at the very end. And now I feel dirty.”
“You should.” You covered your mouth when those words escaped your lips. Mina looked shocked only for a second, eyes darting up at you. “That wasn’t-.”
“No.” she said quickly. “You’re right. I shouldn’t be proud of how I acted. I told myself I would win Mingyu’s heart fairly. I didn’t want him to be with me for selfish reasons. But when I saw you and him so happy in Jeju, watching him put all of his efforts into you, and knowing that I foolishly chose to help you win, jealousy hit me out of nowhere. I acted brashly and I’m sorry.”
“…It’s nice to know that you’re just as ashamed of your actions as the rest of us were.” You said. “I really thought we were going to be good friends like you promised.”
“I know. I burned that bridge on my own. I’m sorry.”
“But there’s nothing apologizing will do now.” You said. “You did what you did and now you’ve won. Mingyu is yours. He’s chosen you.” Mina chuckled a bit to herself, the comment seeming to hurt her more than you would think. “...Am I wrong?” you asked curiously.
Mina glanced at you. “I…I can’t say.” Mina said simply. “I can only say that my methods weren’t…what I wanted them to be.”
A snort. “If he thinks any of that was true after everything we’ve been through, then he might not have really loved me at all.”
Mina smiled. “You’re all he talks about.” She said. “Even now. Every story I manage to get out of him, or hear him talk about to someone else, is a story that has some connection to you.” Hearing that made you finally go quiet. “I’d be jealous if it wasn’t the only time he smiled recently.”
You leaned back in your seat, finding the right words before you allowed yourself to speak. Was she trying to make amends? Or was she trying to gloat? You felt a weird tingle of guilt course through your veins. “Mina.” You finally said, and she looked over. “I need you to promise me something if you intend to see this marriage through to the end.” Mina watched you get up, walking over to the little snow globe collecting dust on your bookshelf, picking it up and brushing it with your hands. “Promise you’ll be good to him. He’s a good man who doesn’t want people to get hurt. He only gets mad when it’s for those same people that he really cares about.” Mina watched as you passed her the little snow globe. “As you know, he always buys gifts. After a while, when time passed and wounds heal, he’ll probably start buying you gifts. You should act surprised every time, it makes him happy.”
Mina brushed her fingers along the globe as well, a few extra dust particles fluttering down onto the floor as she did so. “You did something selfish but I don’t think you’re inherently bad. He’ll come around one day.”
Mina didn’t believe those words you said for a second, but you didn’t think you believed them either. You just wanted to end the conversation before the lingering feelings began creeping up on you once again. Feelings you long since tried to forget. Déjà vu was a vicious beast, it seemed. Mina finally rose from her spot on the couch, handing you back the snow globe. She watched how delicately you took it into your hands again, smiling down at it briefly before setting it away once more. “I should get going. I’ve held you up long enough. Thank you for talking to me.”
“Sure.” You said softly, walking Mina to the door. You opened it once more, watching as she walked out. She turned to you once more.
“Bye.” She said. You only waved, nodding your head as Mina finally made her way to the elevator. You only watched her depart for a second, before closing the door. Silence reentered the apartment, only the sound of your feet padding against the floor as you picked up the white envelope. You shook your head, opening the side table drawer and sticking it beside the TV remote, slamming it closed. “Yeah, right.” You muttered to yourself. When you felt your eyes begin to water, you walked back over to the snow globe, holding it in your hands. You shook it a few quick times, watching as the snowflakes fluttered around the plastic Statue of Liberty. The memory again flooded your mind and you smiled to yourself.
A loud bang from behind you startled you, your hands jolting up in shock. A scream of shock erupted from your lips and you watched as the snowglobe fell to the floor, the glass shattering around your feet.
“Hey! We are here!” Hoshi called, foot extended outward. He and Jihoon’s hands were filled with bags of snacks, hence his extended foot to open the unlocked door. The duo walked in just as you knelt to the floor. “Hm? Sorry, did I scare you?” Hoshi laughed sheepishly. You did not respond however, your hands frantically picking up the Statue of Liberty. In your rescue attempt, your finger nicked one of the glass shard, and you cursed under your breath.
Jihoon set his bags on the table, walking around the couch to you. “Hey. Are you - oh.” He watched as you looked up, smiling a bit.
“Heh. Sorry.” you said, feeling your eyes water. “You guys scared me.” Jihoon and Hoshi shared an expression, one of pity you couldn’t see behind your watery eyes. However, you did see Hoshi come to you side, resting his head on your shoulder and rubbing your arm as Jihoon knelt down and began picking up all of the glass shards.
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
        “Try it.”
“No, Jihoon.” Jeonghan said for what felt like the billionth time. He motioned a can to Joshua.
        “Jisoo-Hyung?”
Joshua cocked an eyebrow as he looked down at the fallen angel before him. He was holding a beer out in their direction. Jihoon’s smile only got wider as he motioned it closer.
“Absolutely not.” Jihoon scoffed, leaning back in his seat as he cracked the beer open himself. He pouted a bit, putting the drink to his lips and taking a sip.
“I’m going to need eternal drinking buddies! Come on. It’s not that bad.”
“No.” The duo said again. When Jihoon tried to encourage them again, they both responded by sticking pizza into their mouths to avoid the conversation. It made you laugh a bit.
“You have plenty of drinking buddies right here.” You said, patting Hoshi on the shoulder. He set his beer down, already red in the face as he looked up at you. “Right, Hoshi?”
“Aaah, yeah.” He smiled, completely unaware of what you were even talking about. Jihoon immediately leaned forward, handing him a water. “Aaaah, for me? Awwwww, Wooziiiiiii.” He giggled, and Jihoon couldn’t hold back his amused smirk.
“Take it, dummy.” He said. It took a second, but Hoshi popped open the bottle and took a long sip, which you saw finally relaxed Jihoon. The night had been pretty eventual so far, the group eating and drinking the night away as they chatted about anything and everything. Studying, the reason for the late-night visit in the first place, was put on the back burner for loud laughter and snacking. It was much better this way. The current event was watching a very drunk Hoshi and an almost as drunk Seungkwan encourage the entire group to play a game of ‘Hongsam’.
“Not when you’re that drunk.” Minnie said, grinning behind the head of her bottle. Hoshi shot up.
“Yes Hongsam.” He sang, wiggling his hips.
“Everybody Hongsam.” Seungkwan stood up and did the same thing, hoping it would encourage the group to join in. However, when he noticed he was the only one doing it, he blinked. “Hey now….” And the room erupted into laughter.
“Absolutely not.” You said behind laughter, sipping your beer.
“It kind of looks like fun.” Joshua said.
“Then you play.” You grinned. Joshua smiled at you as you took another sip, letting out a deep sigh. “Man, it’s hot in here. I’m going to get some fresh air.”
The idea of you leaving the area perked Joshua’s ears to that instead, forgetting the game even existed. “I’ll come too.” Joshua said quickly, following you out the door. Jeonghan’s eyes, which were amused watching the drunk duo goof off, shot to Joshua as he watched his friend follow behind you, opening the door to the balcony and allowing you to step out first. He didn’t even look back, instead just closing the door behind the both of you.
“It’s about time.” Minnie said, making Jeonghan look over.
“What?”
“With Mingyu out of the picture, I was waiting for the moment Joshua would finally grow a pair and confess. Seungkwan owes me ten dollars!”
“I do not! I do not bet with the likes of you.” Jeonghan bit his lip as the room continued to fill with playful banter, his eyes locked on the balcony. He could only see the both of you a bit, the curtain blocking most of his view. Jihoon noticed the angel’s sudden change in demeanor.
“You sure you don’t want that drink?” he asked only more time, but only got an annoyed glance in response. “Okay…”
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
“I thought you were going to play Hongsam.” You said, looking to Joshua as he joined you outside. He rested his elbows against the balcony.
“I’m not going to be the only one entertaining those two.” He joked, and you had to laugh a bit. You looked down at the world below from your balcony, before taking another swig of your drink. “Besides, it’s nicer out here.” Joshua glanced to your hand which Hoshi and Jihoon had bandaged after your cut. “Are you okay?”
“Hm?” you looked down at your bandage, a bit of dried blood poking through. “Oh, yeah.” You assured. Maybe it was the drinks, but guilt began bubbling deep into your chest as you spoke up once more. “Joshua. I’m sorry I messed everything up.”
“What?” Joshua looked over at you.
“I couldn’t get you guys back into heaven. Now, you’re both stuck here until I get with Mingyu. That’ll never happen now.” You let out a dry laugh, and Joshua frowned.
“We’re the ones that knew the risk from the beginning. Don’t blame yourself. We could have done more, too.” He sighed. “I could have.”
        “But still-.”
“I said don’t blame yourself. Jeonghan wouldn’t want you to, either.”
“Okay.” You sighed, defeated. Joshua watched as you finished your beer, setting it down on the floor of the balcony. Your elbows loosened, allowing your hands to dangle a bit over the balcony, eyes staring straight ahead. “Are you guys going to live here forever?”
“Do you want us to?” he grinned a bit when he heard you laugh.
“It definitely is less lonely with you two here. But we’ll have to actually invest in nicer beds and maybe more space.” Joshua was now that one to laugh. “Let’s go house hunting.”
“That means we’ll need jobs.” Joshua sighed. “I never thought an angel like me would be sending out job applications on earth.” You smiled as Joshua playfully dropped his head loose on his neck. “Oh, how the mighty fall.”
“For someone who calls Jeonghan dramatic, you’re really dramatic.” Both of you shared a laugh in the cool night air. Joshua glanced over at you one more time. He bit his lip for a second, before finding himself unable to hold back as he asked you a very important question.
“Can I hold your hand?” Confused and stunned expressions led him to clarify. “I want to see my symbol…”
“Oh.” You laughed nervously, turning to him. Joshua watched you extend your hand to him, which he gently took into his own. He stared at it for a minute, as if he was thinking. It made you smile. “Did you forget how to do it?” you asked playfully.
“Heh. No.” He assured. His thumb rubbed over the back of your hand for a second, before he finally closed his eyes. He felt what little angel power he had in his body to summon the contract seal. Is it even there? He thought to himself. If it’s not, there is absolutely no going back. One of his eyes popped open, studying your expression. You were looking back out at the skyline as you waited. The moonlight sparkled along your features, your eyes dancing along to the stars in the sky, studying each one. He felt himself grip your hand a bit tighter when you smiled, seemingly catching a constellation in your sights. I won’t be able to go back. If it’s not there, if it’s red, I’ll use this as a chance to tell her-.
“Uh…Joshua…” the nervousness in your voice made Joshua’s eyes pop open, his cheeks flushed as he tried to pull himself from his thoughts. So much for his chance, he was to flustered now. He followed your gaze, your wide and curious eyes now staring directly at your hand. His eyes followed, and immediately, he saw the little check floating above your hand. “It’s….”
“It’s white.” He breathed out, a mix of relief and shock. Immediately, the both of you looked up at each other, eyes wide. Joshua gripped your hand, looking down at it once again. “It’s white! It’s white again!”
“What does that mean?!” You shouted.
Both of you went silent, turning back to the living room. Joshua wasted no time fling the balcony door open, the loud thud of the large door crashing against its hold startling the entire crew.
“JEONGHAN!” You both shouted, making him immediately hop out of his seat.
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
“I’m home.” The sound of the sink running in the kitchen signals for Mina to make her way down the hall. She heads that way after taking her shoes off. When she pokes her head in, Mingyu only looks in her direction. “Hey.” She smiled sweetly.
“Hey.” He points to the fridge. “I saved some of my lunch, if you’re hungry.”
“Ah.” Mina smiled a bit. “Thank you. That’s thoughtful.” Mingyu nodded, turning back to the sink to finish with some of the dishes he had started with. Mina rested against the door frame, watching his back silently. “Mingyu.” She said, but he only hummed. “Remember when we went to the cherry blossom festival in the spring?”
Mingyu nodded his head, not once looking up from the bowl he was scrubbing. “With my friends? Yes.” He said. Mina nodded.
“Would you want to go again next spring?” Mingyu shrugged at the question.
“Maybe.” He said. Mina nodded. Mingyu then stopped the dishes, finally looking back in her direction. She instinctively stood up straight. “Oh.” He motioned to the kitchen table in the corner by their bay window. “I took the liberty of skimming through some of these when I got the mail. I was curious.” He picked one up, flipping through it casually before turning the page in her direction. Her eyes followed his finger as he tapped on a set of beautiful Christmas flowers. “These are nice.”
Mina felt her heart speed up, eyes sparkling. He’ll come around. “You think so?!” She asked. Mingyu nodded, and Mina looked at the burgundy red flowers nestled in beautiful green leaves. The wintery background of the picture only enhanced the Christmassy vibes of the flowers. Mingyu turned the page back to him, smiling a bit to himself as he nodded.
“I’ve really fallen in love with this color in the past year…” he said. Mina’s smile dropped as Mingyu set the magazine down on the table, making his way back over to the counters. Mina watched him grab a sponge and start to wipe some of the counters down. She looked over at the flowers once more, trying to recall where she had seen that color before. The more she thought about it, the more images flashed into her brain.
“She does look so pretty in that dress.” Mina whispered to herself.
“What?” Mingyu looked over, eyebrows furrowed together as he tried to figure out what she was whispering about. He saw Mina closed the magazine and set it back down, an obvious look of discomfort on her face. “Hm? Are you okay?” Mina walked over to Mingyu without an answer, taking his hands tightly. He dropped the sponge that was in his hands, glancing down at it for a second. “Hey.”
“Let’s go on a trip.” She said quickly. Mingyu arched an eyebrow, but Mina was already dragging Mingyu out the door, slipping on the fastest pair of shoes they could as they made their way to his car in the garage.
The drive was quiet, but not in a way Mingyu had found himself used to in the past. Mina looked out the window the entire trip, hands in her lap as she gripped her pocket book. Mingyu sighed, running a hand through his hair as he turned the next corner.
“She really did think she was talking to you.” Mina said, the sudden sound of her voice causing Mingyu to look over at her. She turned to him. “At the beach house.”
         “Ah….” he nodded. Mina sighed.
“I was right on the balcony. I saw it all. Jeonghan came to get her, and she said goodbye to Mingyu.” Mingyu gripped the wheel.
“Why are you telling me now?” he asked curiously.
“I thought you should know.” she said simply. “I know it really hurt you, and her. Not only that, but it hurt Joshua. He didn’t do anything wrong. I was jealous.” Mingyu nodded his head.
“Thank you.” he said. Mina smiled a bit, looking down at her pocketbook. She admired the cherry blossom keychain that jingled with every bump Mingyu hit on the drive, and she took it gently into her hands.
        “How cute! Thank you Mingyu!”
“I figured you’d like it since you seemed to enjoy the festival.”
        “I didn’t buy you a gift.”
“Don’t worry. It’s from friend to friend. Thank you for being so cool with everything at breakfast.”
        “No problem…”
“I’m hoping next year I’ll be able to take my friend to the festival. We can go together. She’s been telling me how badly she’d love to see them in person.”
As Mingyu pulled up in the driveway of his father’s home, Mina was relieved to see her father’s car also there. Mingyu slowed the car in the driveway, and when it came to a stop, Mina was already out of the car. He watched her speed walk up the driveway, bag gripped tightly in her hands. Mingyu slipped out of the car as well, beeping it to ensure it was locked before following after her. “Mina!” He called, but there was no answer.
Mina walked past every single worker in the house as they greeted her, Mingyu quickly following behind and saying his own greeting to them followed by a frantic slew of ‘sorry’. “Mina.” He called again. “What are you doing?” He was horribly confused to what had her locked and loaded right as they pulled into the driveway. However, when he saw Mina turn down a very familiar corridor with a very familiar set of doors at the end of the hall, Mingyu felt dread in his stomach. “Mina.” He called again, but it was too late.
Mina swung the doors of the office open, alerting both her father and his own. Mingyu hurried behind her, finally alerting her attention to him for a second. “What are you doing?” he asked. She only offered him a smile, before turning to her and Mingyu’s fathers.
“What’s the problem, honey?” her father asked, standing up from his spot.
“Father.” She took a deep breath. “I’d like to end my engagement.”

Tumblr media
synopsis: late night talks with seungcheol are your most intimate; and vulnerable, times with him. letting out feelings to him after a long day at work, after a drink with you and his members. as members of the idol industry, your boyfriend is ready to do whatever it takes to keep him and you together, even when the spotlight is placed on both of you. pairing: idol!seungcheol x idol!gn!reader genre: fluff with a sorta angsty topic? LMAO wc: 458 words a/n: thought of this while listening to kiss me better by rihanna,, hope u enjoy
you walk around the empty playground, kicking the sand beneath your feet at some times. as seoul’s cold air passes through your figure and hair, you stand still, gazing at the night sky above you.
you feel time fly as you hear the revving of cars and their honking in the distance. it feels like nothing has happened as you sit down on the swings, rocking back and forth.
that’s until you feel someone hold the chains of your swing, slowing you down.
“y/n-ah, i’m sorry, it’s late, why are you still here?” seungcheol says, walking over to your side.
“ah... well, we did promise that we’d meet up here and talk again, right? and, plus, it’s not that late,”
“but it’s a burden for you to wait out here after i go drinking with the boys,”
you let out a sigh at his concern for you.
damn it, cheol.
“it’s not called late night talks for a reason, isn’t it, and it’s only like what, 11?”
he sits on the swing next to yours and rocks back and forth.
“shouldn’t you be getting some sleep?” he questions.
“took like a 5 hour nap today, you need the sleep, choi seungcheol—”
“stop with the full name!” you both start laughing as you push his swing to the side and coming back, he pushes yours in return. you spend the next minutes talking about work and you can’t help but adore the sulky look on his face when he talks about his fellow members. your conversation comes to an end when you only hear the leaves rustling above you two as the wind blows. “that conversation just reminded me that we’re both idols..” you quietly state as a matter of fact. seungcheol hums along to your statement before looking back at you. “do you have any trouble with that? you know— both of us in the idol industry?” at the sudden response, you wave your hands in front of you, denying the statement. “well, i mean, it’s not that, really! it’s more of... how this relationship will affect us in the industry. what if we’re going against contracts? we both lose what we have now, not only between us, but our members, everything. what would i do?” “you know me, y/n. between you and my members and the company, i’d choose seventeen, and you. i’d do anything just for you and the members, that’s who i am, right?” you sit in silence, seeing his eyes still looking at your own. you look away and softly smile. “what are you willing to do?” “i already told you,” he takes your hand and puts his own over it, a soft gaze and serious smile flashed on his face. “anything.”  —  all rights reserved to rollingubeomgyu. 2023.

realizing that they're in love with you
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
seventeen × gn reader fluff, svt being soft for s/o, comfort warnings: mentions of food, alcohol word count: 1.4k author's notes: my first ever requested article. to the anon who sent me this, i love you so much and thank you so so much for sending it in, i hope you like it, and i'm so sorry it took so much time, my brain was smoked for a bit😭 but i absolutely loved writing it. i had to read similar stuff by other svt writers (mainly @emocheol how seventeen realized you were ‘the one’ and @suhnshinehaos the soft italicized 'oh' moment) to get into it. please do check them out too, i love it!!
Tumblr media
➼ choi seungcheol
seungcheol had come home late in the evening, tired and exhausted. work was rough, the boys were chaotic, and all he wanted now was some peace and quiet. the moment he sees you at home, however, all his stress just melts away. you're just there, smiling at him, asking about his day, but he already feels so much better. and when you stay up all night, sitting with him and helping him work through his troubles, that's when it hits him. he wants you by his side as his support, forever.
➼ yoon jeonghan
you both were out for dinner with your friends. two hours and 3 glasses of beer in, the chatter had cooled down into private conversations. you were talking to one of your colleagues when you notice jeonghan zoning out in the middle of the gathering. realising he's run out of his social battery, you say your goodbyes and stand up, and drag a drowsy han back to your car. it's not until the next morning that jeonghan understands everything and smiles to himself. a person who deciphers him state of mind? maybe you were his best match after all.
➼ hong jisoo
jisoo had gone to his hometown for some two weeks to spend with his mom. he was so excited for it he didnt even notice how much you hated him leaving you. he had been quite busy during his vacation, meeting friends, spending time with mom, but something kept troubling his mind. something he had no answer for. even the voice calls and facetimes didnt help. then he returns and sees your face among all other blurred people and smiles. he never wants to stay away from you, he realises.
➼ moon junhui
between work and practice, jun hadnt really noticed his birthday approaching. coming home after work one day, a familiar scent welcomes him. he goes to the kitchen to find a pot of simmering hotpot broth and its ingredients sliced and kept aside. with the emotions flooding in with every whiff, he doesnt notice you hugging him from the back while singing a 'happy birthday' softly, and turning him around to kiss a gentle kiss on his forehead. he has no words to say; he only embraces you tight and cries on your shoulder as the members, who had arrived a little after him on your request, watch. he doesnt say anything, his eyes conveying that he's grateful for everything you've done
➼ kwon soonyoung
if you ask his friends, kwon soonyoung was a very weird person. he says he's an introvert (well, his MBTI said that), but he's as extroverted as they get. he pretends to be a tiger most of the times and his behaviour is VERY unpredictable. everyone thought he'd be difficult to tolerate or balance out. but then you came along. now they've got two very weird people to deal with. they had talked to soonyoung how he'd met his match, but he never thought more of it, until he sees you with his friends and sees something of himself in the way you are with them. he'd finally found someone who'd match his weird.
➼ jeon wonwoo
wonwoo's camera roll was full. which only meant one thing: time to save all the pics to his laptop. he inserts the sd card into the computer and opens the file. his face instantly lights up. you had always been shy in front of camera lens. meeting wonwoo was one of the best moments of your life, but it still took time for you to adjust to his captures. that didn't stop him from considering you his muse, the one he's love to click again and again and again. seeing you smiling in the pictures he took warmed his heart. you could be camera shy, but he only ever loved capturing you.
➼ lee jihoon
jihoon is a workaholic through and through. he wouldnt think twice about missing food and sleep if its to get his work done. you'd often complained about him working saturdays too. imagine the surprise his team had when he called in to announce a day off. like, what caused the mighty lee jihoon to take a day off on a saturday?? the answer was at his home, lying between his arms, a sleepy you that had cuddled your way into his arms in the early morning hours. he'd fallen in love watching you be so comfortable with him. you'd convinced him to stay home once in a while.
➼ lee seokmin
company celebrations usually always ended with fireworks. and usually, you watched it with everyone else in the hall. but this time, seokmin arranged for the keys of the roof for you two to have a better and private view of the sparklers. you sneak in with him, giggling and tripping over your own feet in the dark as you reach the roof to see the spectacular show. you walk ahead, mind blown by how much more beautiful it looked from up here. but seokmin had his eyes locked on something else. you. he'd rather admire you than watch the fireworks.
➼ kim mingyu
food was mingyu's love language. he absolutely LOVED cooking food and feeding it to his loved ones. but since after he met you, he realised he especially loved cooking for you. he loved cooking your comfort food for you. he cooked your mom's recipes when he felt that you missed home a little too much. he loved to listen to your comments when he experimented with the ingredients. it's during one such preparation when it dawned on him. he'd love to make food for you for a very long time.
➼ xu minghao
you'd always been mesmerised hearing hao speak chinese. he doesnt use it very much; pretty much only when he's calling his family or sometimes when speaking with junhui, who's also from china. to say chinese was becoming second to him wouldnt be false because he's using so much korean in his daily life. one day, while walking around the house, he hits his toe on the couch and lets out a sharp curse in his mother tongue. you gasp and say "oh my! hao just cursed," and hao quickly turns his head towards you. it's not what you said, it was how you said it that surprised him. you had responded to him in chinese?? you explain to him how you started taking small classes in learning chinese so that he could converse comfortably with you too. you even asked him to help you. hao swore once again, but in his head. someone was ready to go to such lengths for him? he's truly fallen in love with you.
➼ boo seungkwan
seungkwan had begged for you to stay overnight. it was difficult of course, because you both were tired from work. but when he pulls the ultimate puppy eyes, you couldn't really refuse. you went through an elaborate routine of doing skincare and bathing as a way of relaxing, and watching sappy sitcoms until you both fell asleep to the white noise of the tv. seungkwan woke up first, but his breath hitched seeing you asleep next to him. apart from the little snores and a string of drool from the corner of you mouth, you looked so adorable, snuggled in next to him; so tiny, and so so cute. he stayed there, watching you, silently wishing he could see you like this every morning.
➼ chwe hansol
everyone says hansol has a weird sense of humour. it's not that he doesn't make good jokes, it's just that no one reacts in the way he wishes. so when he goes, "why did the bicycle take a nap? because it was two-tiered" and you end up crying of laughter among the dead silence of his friends, he feels a blush creep up his cheeks. someone who laughs at his corny jokes? that has to be the soulmate he never believed in.
➼ lee chan
chan cannot deny that he loves smiling. laughing. chuckling. he loves to be filled with happiness at all times. whether it's through his own jokes, or his friends' crazy antics, he wishes to be happy most of the time. that's how he realises one day that being with you makes him smile automatically. there is absolutely no specific reason. seeing you, talking to you, listening to you talk about anything and everything. no matter what you do, you always manage to bring a smile to his face. he doesnt really understand it though, how it happens. but one thing's for sure. he wishes to remain happy with you always.

You'll be the death of me
Tumblr media
Previous | Magic or Not Masterlist | Next
Synopsis: Junhui didn't expect his curiosity to earn him a lover.
Pairing: Wen Junhui x fem!reader Word Count: 2.3k words Warnings: there is one sentence about suggestive stuff (not including the reader)
Tumblr media
The waves were crashing loudly against the shore and to his feet, a cold wind blew past Junhui and made the hairs on his arms stand up. It didn't bother him much, he knew he wouldn't have to wait for much longer for Seungkwan to return. The boy was just out to look for some more shells to decorate his house, but Seungkwan tended to be a bit too picky with his search for decorations. He believed that they had to be the perfect color and size, having to fit in with his already massive collection. He had shells of all sizes and colors, a whole room of his house was dedicated to shells and pearls that he picked up. Junhui was always kind enough to join him, but today he didn't feel like going in the water. Something felt wrong today, like he'd get hurt and he'd learn to trust his gut on such things. It had saved his life a couple of times at this point. Nonetheless, he couldn't help but be worried for Seungkwan and thus he kept his eyes strictly on the spot where the siren had dove into the waters.
35 minutes of waiting was enough, Seungkwan rising from the water with a bright and happy smile. In his hand was a bag that he lifted with glee. Junhui smiled before stepping into the water, glad that he had rolled up his trousers beforehand, and he took ahold of Seungkwan's arms. Pulling him up to the shore sounded easier than it was, the weight of Seungkwan's tail exceeded that of a full grown wolf. Once Seungkwan was out of the water fully, he turned on his back and let his tail turn to legs before grabbing his pants.
"Couldn't have waited until I turned around?" Junhui asked with a bit of annoyance as he removed his gaze from the younger, who only scoffed in response. Junhui didn't care that much, but he still didn't have to see his best friend naked.
"Your an elf, what shame do could you possibly have? You guys live by the motto 'Enjoy life to the fullest' and you certainly do that." Seungkwan teased and Junhui knew well enough that Seungkwan was talking about the nightly feasts that the adult elves had during festival weeks, not that Junhui was ever interested in such things. He believed that you could only love one, so he remained on his own. Even when it gained him looks of ridicule during festivals, he didn't care much for it anyway. He'd rather wait for the right person than gain experience with thousands of he- and she-elves.
"Here." Seungkwan spoke again, holding out a murex shell with a silver color with black and white spots. Taking it from Seungkwan, Junhui inspected the shell carefully before smiling. He liked to collect things as well, having something from every friend that represented them in a way.
Seungcheol had given him a sword, a wooden one that he had used when he was a bit younger. Jeonghan and Joshua both gifted him some magical crystals, one for protection and one for healing small wounds, although Junhui had a feeling that they didn't really worked anymore. Soonyoung and Chan collected various little trinkets from their respective home forests, everything from little acorns to even dried flowers or trees. Wonwoo gave him a book with all kinds of recipes for delicious foods and Mingyu had added his own family recipe in the front as his own gift, which was something very important to him and thus meant a great deal. Jihoon created some incenses that relaxed the mind and strengthened the health while Seokmin gave a horse shoe that he made since it often meant good luck. Vernon gave him a piece of armor, one he had worn when protecting the elvish town that Junhui came from. Now all Junhui needed to do was add Seungkwan's gift and his collection from his friends was complete.
Thanking Seungkwan quickly, Junhui put the shell in his bag carefully before throwing his arm around his friend's shoulders with a big smile on his face.
"(Y/n) gave it too me and it seemed nice enough to give to you." Seungkwan said and Junhui paused, looking at Seungkwan with slight concern. He assumed that you were a siren or mermaid like Seungkwan was and they often liked to gift shells or pearls to the people they loved. Seungkwan seemed to guess what Junhui was thinking and quickly shook his head, scoffing at the idea itself.
"She's not in love with me, no worries. She knew I was searching for a gift and told me to take this." Seungkwan explained and Junhui nodded, smiling to himself before dragging Seungkwan along again.
Tumblr media
"Come on!" Seungkwan screamed loudly at the group that remained by the edge of the water. Only Vernon had joined him in the water, floating beside Seungkwan like he had no care of the world around him. Ziva had gotten ready to jump in from the rocks, holding both Flora and Aria in a tight headlock. Then she jumped, dragging the two other girls and crashing in the water. Their respective boyfriends only laughing loudly before gently getting in the water as well, swimming to their girlfriends. Seokmin and Soonyoung were off in the distance, Chan floating above them, and all of them were staring at an animal that they hadn't seen before. Junhui could tell that it was just a crab that carried a wrong shell on his back. Nothing unusual about it, but the three were fascinated nonetheless. Mingyu and Wonwoo were sitting on the side, Wonwoo reading a book and Mingyu was looking through the basket of food that he brought. Last but not least were Jihoon and Minghao, immersed in a conversation that Junhui didn't even want to know the topic. Junhui was the last one to join them in the water, swimming near Seungkwan before diving down. His eyes stung a bit from the water, but he could see everything clearly.
Including you laying in the sand.
You between the rocks, seemingly sleeping and Junhui was fascinated to say the least. Dark blue scales covered your body, blending in with your skin and you wore a flowy dress that covered from your torso to underneath your hips. Your hair floated around you like a halo. Junhui could spot small fangs and he could see your eyes when they opened, a deep red color that made shivers run down his spine. Your eyes were now on him as well, inspecting him before pushing yourself from the ground. Your tail, unlike what Junhui thought, wasn't like a mermaid tail. Rather it looked like a snake, only the fins indicating that you were indeed a water creature. So focused on your appearance, Junhui barely noticed that you were swimming towards him at quite a fast speed and only stopping when you were in arms reach. You hovered near him, looking at Junhui with genuine curiosity and he did the same.
Only difference, he couldn't breath underwater.
Swimming back up to the surface, Junhui took a deep breath before shrieking when you appeared right in front of him again. Eyes turned to you and Seungkwan was the first to break the silence, bright smile as he swam your way.
"(Y/n)!" Seungkwan threw his arms around your neck, a hug that you quickly returned as your gaze moved to the siren in your arms. Junhui's eyes widened slightly as he recognized your name, remembering that you were the one who helped Seungkwan with his gift. Seungkwan was quick to drag you to shore, waiting for Mingyu to come drag him out of the water completely while Jihoon threw a blanket over Seungkwan for modesty. He changed and in turn dragged you from the water as well. Like Seungkwan, your body changed to a human form. Only difference was that you were already covered with a dress that you wore beforehand, which now looked longer than it had before. Probably because you had normal sized legs now instead of the long tail you had before.
Most boys exited the water as well, all focused on the new person that had joined them. Junhui took the chance to stare at you a bit longer as Flora approached you first, asking you a few questions. The scales from earlier where still visible over your whole body, although they seemed to lay beneath your skin this time and your eyes had turned a lighter red color instead of the bright color before.
"Totally not obvious, dude." Joshua spoke up and Junhui turned around to glare the man. Aria shoved her boyfriend softly, rolling her eyes at his antics.
"You stared at me for awhile too when we first met." She teased and Junhui chuckled as he watched the elder's cheeks turn a light pink. Then his eyes turned back to you, flinching when your eyes connected with his. You gave another smile, slowly making his way before leaning a bit forward.
"You're an elf, right?" The question seemed obvious, but Junhui could only stutter a yes as his heart started to beat a million times per minute. It was clear that you were hiding your laughter at his obvious shyness, hand covering your mouth as you straightened your form again. You stepped slightly forward again and Junhui could feel your gaze on his ears. They twitched slightly as a pink color rose up to the tips of his ears, turning fully red when your hand suddenly touched his ear. Flinching away, he stared at you in shock while you just looked confused. Aria's laughter rang out loudly from behind the two of you and the smiles on Joshua and Seungcheol's faces said enough, they knew clearly what you had just done. Seungkwan was the first to explain it to you, saying that it was the same as touching his tail. This in turn made your face heat up with embarrassment, quickly apologizing to him while also trying to hide your face.
You were certainly an interesting character and Junhui couldn't wait to learn more about you.
Tumblr media
"So, do you really hear and see better than others?" You asked, leaning on the rock beneath you as your tail swished behind you in the water. Junhui nodded, leaning a bit forward before pointing at your eyes.
"What about you?" He asked and you nodded as well, quickly explaining that you saw clearly underneath the water, often better than above water. Junhui nodded in fascination before noticing your gills.
"Shouldn't you go back to the water? Your gills look dried out." He said and you let your hands wander to your neck before awkwardly chuckling, ducking under the water and disappearing from Junhui's view. Minutes later you came back up, your gills covered in wet seaweed that only made Junhui frown softly.
"It helps, although it looks a bit weird..." You smiled at him before leaning back on the rock with a soft sigh. "It's not weird." Junhui quickly answered and you chuckled at his eagerness to make you feel better, even when it wasn't really necessary. You mumbled a soft 'cute' at him before pushing yourself up as you noticed something behind Junhui.
"She's here again." You pointed at the elf that stood in the woods, her eyes on the two of you and it was clear that she was not amused. By now you knew well enough who she was. A she-elf that had taken an interest in Junhui and had tried convince Junhui that he should stay with his own kind. You didn't know if she meant romantically or not, but you found it ridiculous nonetheless. Junhui groaned as he turned his head, making eye contact with her and causing her to smile brightly. She waved him over, but Junhui didn't move.
"Come one!" You grabbed the back of his collar, dragging underwater with you without waiting for any answer. Swimming down to the ground, you turned around to look back at Junhui. He held his breath, but you could see that he was having trouble with the depth. Letting go of him, staring at him for a few seconds before cupping his face softly. You waited for a few seconds again, looking at his lips clearly. When he didn't seem to protest your intentions, you quickly pressed your lips against his for not even a second. He stared at you in shock, mouth open before he realized that he could breath underwater now.
"You can talk." You said, but your voice sounded muffled. Probably because you were underwater, he realized. Nonetheless, he didn't get to talk when he heard another loud splash behind him. The girl had followed, looking around in the water for the two of you. You smirked before wrapping yourself around Junhui and laying your head next to his.
"Want to scare her off?" You asked and Junhui shook his head, turning his head back to the she-elf. The two of them made eye contact and the girl glared at you when she noticed how your tail was wrapped around Junhui. Then he turned his head back to you and laid his lips on yours once more. You were a bit shocked at first before wrapping your arms around his neck and kissing him back. He was the first to pull back. Even when he could now breath underwater, he still could only breath through his nose or mouth. You couldn't help but look at the she-elf again, but she was long gone and you only laughed softly. Junhui watched you before looking up, breaking from your hold and swimming up. You followed quickly and gasped as you reached the top.
"A warning would've been nice, my heart almost exploded when you kissed me." Junhui said and you giggled, dragging him to shore with a bright smile.
"It was just so you could breath. Besides, you kissed me again." You gave him another teasing smile, sinking back into the water after a short wink. Junhui just watched the spot where you dove under, scoffing before laying down in the sun.
"You'll be the death of me."

how seventeen act with their writer s/o
requested by anon ^^
masterlist
Tumblr media
seungcheol
he is begging. he is on his knees BEGGING you to pls let him buy you a new laptop because the one you use is literally on its last legs and makes ominous sputtering n whirring sounds like a dying cat stuck in a vent every time you start it up. you don't let him tho bc “no cheol the memories :(((“ cuz you've had it for years but he is nearing the end of his tether and who knows. in a few days ur laptop may mysteriously disappear forever and you'll be forced to let him buy a new one
jeonghan
he's like the pet cat you don't own who likes to slink into the room and make inquisitive noises as he watches you work. drapes himself over your shoulders and makes distressed huffs when you try to dislodge him. he's never usually noticeably clingy, but when you try to write, the clinginess always springs out and you can't go five minutes without jeonghan poking his head into the room to check up on you and see what you're up to
joshua
your biggest fan. buys every single novel you write, puts on his glasses, and reads them very seriously in one go on the very evening it's released with the lamp on beside him. he looks so serious every time, but he'll always peer at you over his glasses and then give you a big grin, telling you how much he loves it. gets you to sign a copy for him and brags to everyone he knows that he has your signed novels with special messages just for him that no one else can have
junhui
he's your personal general knowledge bank. when you're searching up obscure things and slowly losing hope on finding an answer, just ask junhui and he'll either a) know the answer or b) knows someone who knows someone else who knows someone else else who knows the answer. don't ask him how to spell words tho bc he's like. hopelessly bad. blinks at you going “what's an [insert word]” before you give up and google it yourself
hoshi
alwaysssss wants to know what you're working on right now. gets all whiny when you get possessive of your work and refuse to show him before it's finished bc come on, it's surely perfect already, why are you trying to hide it from him?? loves helping you do, like, the non writing stuff. writing out plot? nooo. building fantasy maps, figuring out political systems, getting lost on a tangent on figuring out the price of beans in the 1800s? hell yeah sign him up!!!
wonwoo
knows all the grammar rules in the world. you can ask him stuff like “hey wonwoo can i put a comma here or no” and he'll amble over to peer over your shoulder and tell you whether you can or cannot, in fact, put a comma there. helps you curate all your writing playlists for the different moods you have. gently reminds you to get back to writing whenever you end up scrolling on instagram for too long
woozi
you're even more of a workaholic than he is when in the zone, so he gets to realise how unhealthy it is to be sat in front of a computer for hours straight with no break. you get to act as each other's “let's act like a normal human being now” reminders, depending on which of you is going through a work fixation. you guys both go on runs together in the mornings even though it kills you bc at least it gets both of yo brains kickstarted to spend a day being all creative in ur respective fields
minghao
you value his opinion above anyone else's. above your beta reader's, above your agent's, even above your editor's bc those are more like advice, not opinions. but knowing that minghao likes your work, and knowing which parts in particular he really likes, is so important to you because ultimately, you want the person you love to also love the things that you create.
mingyu
brings up the fact that you're a writer in every conversation he has with anyone ever. “oh my god look, this menu has writing on it. speaking of writing, my s/o writes actual books as a job!!!!”. your agent made him sign a contract similar to an NDA bc he just keeps yapping about your books even when they haven't been released yet. loves the noises you make whilst you're writing. thinks it's the cutest thing ever when you make overjoyed “AHA!!” sounds when you finally realise what the plot is doing
dokyeom
more than willing to be your rubber duck and let you talk at him until u figure out your own plot holes. he could be in his room scrolling on his phone but the minute you call for him, he's leaping up and bounding over to you and pulling up a chair in an instant, more than willing to let you bounce ideas off him. sits there doing nothing but looking all pretty as you talk at him and work out the tangle you've gotten yourself into. beams and gives you a big kiss when you manage to figure it all out.
seungkwan
he buys you a biiiig wheely whiteboard and a bunch of coloured board pens to help you plot your novels. when you get stuck, he comes over and stares at the board with his hands on his hips, very gravely considering your dilemma and what would be the best way to get you out of it. you two talk about plot holes like it's the most serious thing in the world and he just nods like a proud father once you both find a solution
vernon
at this point he's like. a professional tea and coffee and biscuits supplier due to the amount of snack runs he does for you. has walked in on you lying face down on the floor during a meltdown one too many times to bat an eye anymore. also great at helping you block out actions during scenes like. he's the perfect doll. lets you maneuver him into the weirdest positions in the world with zero complaints. he just loves helping you however he can, really.
chan
reads through your drafts whilst you're in the middle of writing, accidentally gets hooked and is begging you every day to finish the novel bc he really wants to know what happens next. he's the best at spotting inconsistencies and plot holes in ur writing so before you even send it off to your beta reader, he gets to have his hands on the manuscript to check for any changes needed. also bc he needs to read the ending asap otherwise he'll probably combust.

Chapter 18 - The Engagement Party
Tumblr media
“Are you ready?” Minnie asked, tightening her grip around your arm. She fixed one stray strand of hair from your face, which made you smile. “We can leave whenever you want. Okay?”
“I know,” you assured. “It’ll be fine.” As you entered the massive venue, the luxury of the hotel stunning all of you to silence, you followed the crowds into the dining hall. It took a few minutes of maneuvering around others, but you all finally found the seats that were together. The minute you walked in, you saw the photos of Mingyu and Mina from their engagement photo shoot, which you knew about for weeks when Minnie found the photos circulating online. It made your stomach do somersaults, but you simply avoided your eyes, sitting in your seat. The entire room was decorated in flowers, lights illuminated every inch of the area, and the stage that seemed to be inserted just for this event was set up like a fashion show was about to begin. A spotlight sat in the middle, and you knew that in a matter of minutes, Mingyu and Mina would be standing there, arm and arm. Joshua and Jeonghan sat on either side of you, and immediately Jihoon leaned to Joshua, the duo beginning to whisper.
“This is amazing for just an engagement party,” Hoshi said.
“Yeah, they pulled out all of the stops. I feel like I’m in a big-budget movie or something.” Seungkwan added. When he saw you cover your face, he reached over and removed your hands to avoid messing up your makeup. “Sorry. It all looks horrible.” Thankfully for Seungkwan and Hoshi, you chuckled at that one. Idle chitchat for others at nearby tables filled the room pretty quickly as more people arrived. You turned your head a bit, finally laying eyes on Mr. Kim and Mr. Myoui. They were making their rounds through the tables, shaking hands and hugging friends and family. They both seemed excited for the night and were sharing that excitement with equally as excited attendees.
“They better not come over here.” You muttered, regret for saying that out loud immediately cutting through your brain. As if your comment summoned them, Mr. Kim and Mr. Myoui both made their way to your table. Everyone stood up, offering one polite bow. You did as well, immediately sitting down and looking up at the pair.
“We’re sure Mingyu and Mina will be delighted to see that their friends were able to attend.” Mr. Kim said. When he stressed a particular word’, you could have sworn he looked directly at you, but for your sanity, you chose to ignore it. You had to bite the inside of your lip. “Isn’t it all lovely? The two of them look so perfect.” He motioned to the photos littering the room, and you felt a tingle up your spine. A gentle hand on your back alerted your attention over your shoulder, and Jeonghan was right there. He seemed to nonverbally encourage you to hold your tongue for as long as you could.
Jihoon, shameless, seemed to have no problem speaking up: “Mingyu looks miserable in all of them.”
“Woozi!” Hoshi nudged him immediately, his voice hushed and embarrassed. He shrugged, smiling at Hoshi to ease his nerves.
“Right, sorry. Maybe it’s just the angle. We are sitting so far away.” He looked at the fathers of the couple, smelling their annoyance at his comment. “Forgive me.”
The pair simply left the table, Woozi’s amused smirk widening when he heard: “Tch, I cannot believe Mingyu somehow mixed himself up in that crowd.” from a very bitter Mr. Kim. Woozi turned back to the group.
“Remember, when he comes out there and starts mingling, everyone needs to look like they are happy for him and that we’re having a good time. It’ll make Mina feel worse.”
Seungkwan looked confused. “Are you sure? Won’t that just make her think we’re happy for them?”
“No. Because Mingyu will look miserable, and that’s the only reaction she’s going to be focusing on this entire night.”
“Do you think it’ll be enough to get her to call the entire thing off, though?” Minnie asked. Woozi shrugged, patting Joshua on the shoulder.
“Depends how convincing Hyung is. And from what I can tell, he’s pretty convincing.” Joshua frowned.
“You scare me,” Joshua said, but Jihoon’s grin only widened.
The party continued filling up, and as more people around you chatted about the stunning and perfect couple, you couldn’t help but feel more and more that seed of anxiety blooming through your body and into a flower of insecurity. Nobody at the table was really speaking, unable to find the right words as they waited for the main event to begin. However, that didn’t seem to help your feelings of self-worth crumbling around you. You looked back at the photos of Mingyu and Mina plastered all over like wallpaper, and you found yourself unable to hold back your negative thoughts.
So, this is how it ends. You thought to yourself, leaning back in your lush, brightly decorated chair. You brushed the tickling sensation of the tablecloth off your knee and inner thigh, pushing it back under the table before fixing your dress. Silverware and glasses shook, vibrating a low harmony with one another as they steadied themselves.
The sound of a microphone screeched into the room, temporarily cutting through the layer of idle chitchat that had befallen the beautifully decorated banquet hall. Someone up at the front of the room was speaking, but you could barely hear it. Not because it was too loud, but because your mind tried so desperately to drown out the voice. I can’t handle it. I don’t want to hear it…Your head rested in your hand, elbow acting as a stand on the table to keep you from slamming it down. Maybe that would be a good excuse to go home. No, I can’t leave. You thought. I need to sit here. I deserve to see this. I didn’t do enough….I wasn’t enough….I wasn’t enough….
Suddenly, you felt a gentle hold on your shoulder, a squeeze from a firm, yet gentle hand. A feeling of calmness attempted to override the current disdain that was coursing your veins. You looked over, eyes watering as you stared at a blurry figure beside you. You couldn’t make out who it was, but you knew you felt okay. You felt ok.
Claps and cheer erupted in the room, and you turned your head, wiping your eyes frantically. Your hands banged together like a drum you weren’t controlling, chewing your inner lip as two figures walked out before the cheering crowd. Under one large spotlight, stood Mingyu. A beautifully statuesque individual, his dark black hair combed back and styled to go well with his freshly pressed suit. You saw him smile just a bit, but you could tell how white his teeth were as his lips curled. The left side lifted ever so slightly higher than the right as he looked around. On his arm stood another figure, just as beautiful as he in her stunning white gown and veil covering her face. It was as if the duo were plucked straight out of a wedding magazine and set right in front of your eyes.
I could never be enough. You felt that thought to pierce your brain and shoot right into your heart, and you had to contain a sob, hopping the harder you clapped, the less obvious it would seem to those sitting around you. Another hand pressed against your back, but this time you couldn’t muster the strength to look away. You simply closed your eyes, taking a deep breath as the clapping around you slowly began to stop. When you turned your head, you looked behind you to see two men. You couldn’t make out their faces, most likely because you continued to feel tears well up once again, and it was dark anywhere other than the stage, but their silhouettes told you they were close to one another, and the faint noise coming from their direction. Were they…whispering? You could make out what they were saying and only closed your eyes once more. You wanted to drown out the entire night; go back to when it was simpler. Before you got yourself involved with nonsense that you knew would never work out.
The sound of your name being called felt faint at first, so you chose to ignore it. However, as you heard it get louder and louder, you couldn’t ignore it anymore. Especially when a familiar deep voice began calling it. You felt your head spinning, and you had to open your eyes, hoping your wish would be a reality. When you looked over, you saw not Mingyu, but Joshua, gripping your hands tightly. He was smiling as he knelt a bit to your level.
“Let’s dance,” he said eagerly.
Your eyes darted over his shoulder and saw Woozi was already up, making his way over to the couple as they descended the stage, seemingly ready to be bombarded by excited guests. “What?” You asked as you looked back at him.
“Let’s dance.” He said. Standing up, you looked to Jeonghan, who motioned you towards the dance floor that was already filling up with eager people. Hoshi seemed ready to follow as well, grinning wildly as the music began to pump through the room. Minnie seemed to do the same motion, grinning playfully as she sat beside Jeonghan. It wasn’t long before she and Seungkwan hopped up as well, and scurried into the crowds of people. “Come on,” Joshua said. You nodded, following him.
On the dance floor, Joshua found a spot that had not been taken, still offering the three of you a lot of room. You looked up at him as his eyes scanned the crowd, immediately falling towards the stage. You watched him for a second, neither of you moving, though he held you close to him. “Joshua, what are you-.”
“Sh.” He said quickly, before politely adding. “Please.” You turned your head, trying to see what he was staring at. However, you had no luck with the wall of people blocking your way. “Perfect. Okay, ready?”
“Ready for what?” you asked. Just then, Joshua stepped back a bit, and Hoshi hopped to his side. The both of them seemed to take a second to adjust to the beat of the song but immediately began busting out the most intense set of moves. From Hoshi, always excitable, you expected it. However, you couldn’t hold back your amused laughter as Joshua joined in, doing some silly dance in a half bend spinning his hands in little circles and sometimes throwing them up at certain beats. “Oh my god, what are you doing?” You said between laughs. Hoshi laughed at the sight too, clinging to your arm to balance himself. Joshua grinned, standing upright and taking your hands in his.
“Join me!” He shouted. You looked around, seeing that while others were enjoying the music, these two were absolutely and shamelessly enjoying themselves. You couldn’t help it and ended up joining in with the seemingly frantic and thoughtless movements shared by your friends.
Closer to the stage, Mingyu was standing beside Mina. He had his hand in his pocket, scanning the crowds as Mina thanked everyone for coming. When he was acknowledged, he simply shook the person's hand or bowed and thanked them, before allowing his attention to wander once again. Mina was beaming as she showcased her beautiful ring to her friends, squealing in delight and thanking them for making the journey to Korea for the event. In his scanning, he saw a familiar short figure approaching him, hands in his pockets and a smug look on his face.
“Oh jeez.” Mingyu sighed. “Hello, Jihoon-Hyung…You guys made it.”
“Couldn’t miss it,” he said. “Had to see the happy couple.” Mingyu had to get a dry chuckle, but Jihoon didn’t try. “Am I able to pull your wife-.”
“Don’t call her that,” Mingyu said immediately, fortunate Mina didn’t hear that as she was still distracted by her friends.
“Right. Can I steal Mina for a bit?”
Mingyu was seemingly dying for someone to ask with how quickly he stepped aside, alerting Mina to see Jihoon. She smiled.
“Jihoon! I’m so glad you’re here! Is everyone else-?”
“They’re dancing already. Great idea to have a DJ.” He pointed to the dance floor, where both Mina and Mingyu looked. Jihoon didn’t need to look at Mingyu to know his eyes immediately locked on Joshua and Hoshi, dancing with you in stitches as you joined them. Jihoon saw the smile on your face as you danced, not a care in the world. When he finally did turn to Mingyu, he saw his friend’s face turn cold, bottom lip caught between frustrated teeth. “You alright, Mingyu?”
“Hm? Yeah.” Mingyu didn’t even turn to look at Jihoon, eyes locked on the trio on the dancefloor like a sniper locking on their target. His eyes shot up to Joshua specifically, watching as he reached his hands out and took yours into them, spinning you around. Hoshi seemed to want the same treatment, leaving you bent over giggling as Joshua took Hoshi’s hand and spun him around.
I heard her confess her love to Joshua at the beach house on the first night.
Mingyu clenched his fists. Woozi looked at the bride, immediately catching her eyes studying Mingyu’s. “What’s wrong?” she asked softly. Her eyes tracked his, and when they landed on the same sight, she covered her mouth. “Oh…” she smoothed out her dress. “Mingyu, I-.”
“I’ll be right back,” he said, before walking into the dancing crowd. Mina covered her mouth. Woozi’s eyes widened in surprise, crossing his arms over his chest. He looked over at Mina. “Should I go stop him?”
Her question made him snort. “He won’t listen to you.”
Your dancing was interrupted by Mingyu approached the group. You looked over first before Joshua and Hoshi stopped their dancing and noticed him as well. He had his eyes glued to Joshua, and he immediately noticed the frustrated look in his eyes. He stepped beside you, gripping your arm. You watched the duo share very stone-cold and serious looks at one another, tension circulating around the group as it settled within this one spot on the dance floor. Anxiety began sitting in your chest again, and you stepped in between the both of them. “No fighting, please,” you begged. “Not now…” Mingyu and Joshua took a second before finally allowing their chests to deflate and their egos to calm down. You immediately glanced at Mingyu, who scratched at the back of his neck. You admired him in his suit, taking in his appearance from up close now that you had the chance. It made jealousy easily hop from Mingyu to you and sit in your stomach.
“You came.” Mingyu sounded relieved. “I didn’t think you would.” You only nodded, keeping your hands busy by rubbing them along the sides of your dress. Mingyu offered a little smile, looking down at his feet. “Listen, I-.” Before Mingyu could begin, Joshua took your arm into his. You glanced over.
“Let’s get something to eat and bring it back to the table for Jeonghan.” Before anyone could say anything else, Joshua led you off to the food table. Mingyu turned his head, watching the both of you weave through the crowd and head towards the food table. He watched as you stood, Joshua immediately motioning to all of the different snacks and treats that were offered before the main course. He watched as Joshua lifted a cupcake, carefully unwrapped it, and offered it to you. He watched as Joshua grinned, as you hesitated but took a bite. He had to stop looking when he felt his blood boil. Hoshi nudged him.
“Jealous?” He asked. Mingyu stayed quiet, and Hoshi chuckled. “I’d get over there before she starts feeding him.” Mingyu did just that, which caught Mina’s attention from Jihoon, was asking her questions about the setup of this event. She seemed happy to share until she caught Mingyu out of the corner of her eye approaching Joshua and Jeonghan. Jihoon looked over as well.
“If we were in love-,” Jihoon said. “I wouldn’t do anything other than show my love off to as many people as I could. For the whole night.” Mina frowned. “Yet the second he laid eyes on someone else was the first time this entire night I saw his eyes light up.” Mina immediately walked away from Jihoon, who only grinned as he watched her approach the trio.
“What are you doing?” Mingyu asked Joshua, who seemed confused.
“Eating,” Joshua said, taking a bite of his cupcake. “What are you doing? Shouldn’t you be with your wife or something?”
“She’s not my wife,” Mingyu said again. Just then, he felt a hand wrap around his arm and he looked over. Mina smiled.
“Yet.” She said. She caught sight of you and smiled, reaching out and pulling you into a hug. “Oh, I’m so glad you guys could make it!” She said happily.
“Yeah…” you said, only offering up a weak hug in response. You looked her over, admiring every detail of her dress, long-sleeved and floor-length, laced and beaded along her chest and around her wrists. “You look stunning.”
“Thank you~.” She beamed. “I was going to wear something else since this is my wedding dress but I loved it too much I had to wear it twice.” She giggled a bit. “I’m so glad to see the two of you come together! You both match.” She motioned to Joshua’s tie, and he only grinned. You felt a pit sink in your stomach as you looked down at your hands in embarrassment. Mingyu seemed put off as well, putting his hands in his pockets.
The awkward silence only fell over the four of you for a short time, before Joshua passed you a plate. Your hands gripped it, looking over at him as he smiled. “Let’s get something to Jeonghan, okay? He must be wasting away at the table.” A small smile formed on your lips, nodding. Joshua turned to a couple of the night. “Well, see you.” he waved, before leading you away. Mingyu opened his mouth but stopped himself when he saw Joshua and you headed back to your table on the other side of the hall. He clicked his tongue.
Mina nodded, waving you off as Joshua led you away, a plate of food in hand. Mingyu turned to watch you leave, but Mina redirected his attention almost immediately. “I’m sorry, Mingyu.” She said. He looked down at her.
“Why?” Mingyu asked.
“She came with Joshua.” Was all she uttered. “And Jeonghan.” With Mingyu stunned to silence, she led him off to mingle with some other guests.

The rest of the night continued much of the same way. Every time Mingyu got a chance, he slithered over to talk to you. However, each time, you were entangled in the shenanigans of Joshua and Jeonghan. One or both of them had you in their clutches the entire night, dancing with you, feeding you, and keeping your attention as they spoke to you at the table. If Mingyu tried to approach, he was sent away by someone: Minnie, Seungkwan, or Hoshi, encouraging him to ‘go back to his wife’.
One final time he approached, Joshua and Jeonghan looked over. You were giggling at something they were saying, before following their gaze.
“Mingyu.” Joshua said.
“Don’t you have a wife to be attending to?” Jeonghan asked.
“Guys.” A deep, annoyed sigh escaped Joshua and Jeonghan’s lips. “Enough. I can come over here for a few seconds and-.”
“No, you can’t,” Jeonghan said simply. Mingyu frowned. “We all care very deeply about the sanctity of marriage. So, if you’re here-.”
“It could lead you to something very unpure,” Joshua added.
“And we want no part of that.” The duo’s comment in unison made Mingyu’s blood boil, and he finally looked directly at you.
“I want-.” He stopped. “I need to talk to you. Alone.” You chewed your inner cheek. “Without these two parrots sitting on your shoulder.”
“Hey.” They pouted in unison.
“See?” You looked between them, finally standing up.
“Okay.” You said. “Let’s go, then.” Mingyu, relieved, motioned you out towards one of the back doors, leading back into the hotel. Joshua and Jeonghan caught him looking around the room, and they followed his gaze each time. Mina was talking with friends, the fathers were doing the same on the other side of the room, back turned to their table the same way they had since Jihoon’s comment earlier in the evening. Mingyu led you off, and Joshua and Jeonghan immediately gave each other a high-five.
“Parrots?” Jeonghan asked, an amused look on his face. Joshua shrugged, also unable to hide his grin.
“Squawk?” The both of them had to laugh a bit.
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
Mina was saying goodbye to her friends just as a slow song was coming on, and they encouraged her to find Mingyu so they could enjoy it together. A lovestruck smile formed on her face as she did so, turning to the crowds of people. She scanned left. No Mingyu. She scanned right. No Mingyu. She looked up at the seating area they were designated, to see if he was eating. No Mingyu. She felt her frown get deeper each second that passed without Mingyu in her sight.
“Looking for someone?” She turned to see Jihoon standing by her side.
“I don’t see Mingyu. Is he with you guys?” Jihoon shook his head.
“No,” he said simply. “But, now that you mention it, there’s one other person I just realized hasn’t been here in a few minutes.” Mina looked around once more, her eyes finally landing on your table. Joshua and Jeonghan were chatting with Seungkwan, laughing without a care in the world. Minnie and Hoshi were at the food table, scoping out the best snacks to bring back and enjoy. Mina’s eyes widened, but Jihoon only chuckled. “I know exactly where they went.” He said. Offering her his arm, he shrugged. “Shall we?”
“I feel like you’ve been flirting with me all night.” She said.
Jihoon shook his head. “No. I’m not interested.” He assured. Mina could have sworn she saw Jihoons eyes hit the food table, where Hoshi had happened to be examining the finger foods with curiosity and wonder. “Trust me.” When he offered his arm one more time, and she refused, he couldn’t help but laugh. The duo made their way out one of the back doors and down the long, empty corridor. “Are you ready for your wedding? It’s going to be here faster than you think.”
“I know,” Mina said. “But I think we’ll be okay. My father said he’ll hire us a professional and everything.”
“That’s good.” Jihoon nodded. “Has Mingyu offered to help?” Mina looked over. “Flowers? Dinner? Cake flavor? Those are decisions both of you have to make.”
“He said he didn’t care about what we picked,” Mina said simply. “He said to pick whatever made me happy.” When Jihoon laughed, Mina looked over at him. “What? I think that’s nice of him.”
“It is.” He said.” But, when he was planning that party on Jeju Island, he made sure everything was perfect. So that she was happy. He didn’t ask anyone else to plan anything, just what to get. He did it because her happiness was his.” He shrugged. “I just figured his wedding would make him feel the same way.”
“Well, he…” Mina trailed off, unable to find the right response to such a comment. The duo continued walking down the hallway.
“He what?” Jihoon finally asked. Mina pressed her freshly done nails together, frowning. “He isn’t interested?” Jihoon sighed. “Maybe it’s more different than I thought. I’m sure as it gets closer, he’ll come around. Don’t worry.”
Mina nodded, just as the sound of voices finally hit her ears. She looked up towards them. It didn’t take long for Mina to identify the voices.
“So you just decided to parade yourself around with him after all of this?”
“You guys invited us. I don’t know what you wanted from me!” Mina stopped in her spot, turning her head where the voices were coming from. She stepped closer, keeping herself out of view through the crack in the door, but pressing herself against the wall to hear as clearly as she could. “I told you that you misunderstood what happened and you chose not to believe me! That’s not my fault!”
“It’s like you’re trying to tell me I was right!” Mina could hear the hurt in Mingyu’s voice and she frowned. “Do you think I’m happy watching him all over you? It’s making me fucking miserable!”
“Now you know how I feel!” You shouted back. “Mingyu, how do you think I felt coming to see you after a week only to see you engaged to someone else?! I wanted to crawl in a hole and die.”
Mina looked over to Jihoon, hoping to gauge his reaction. He simply had his head turned to the window, arms crossed over his chest. She turned back to the door. From her angle, she could only catch glimpses of Mingyu as he stepped in and out of view in the crack in the window, a fleeting glance every few seconds that showcased the panic and hurt in his eyes.
“Yeah, but I have never once made Mina think I actually liked her back.”
“Remember you said that when you look at that adorable little keychain you gave her right after you turned her down.” You snapped.
Mingyu scoffed. “Are you serious? Even so, I never actually confessed love to her!”
“I was drunk and I thought it was you, dumbass!” Impulse and anger caused you to extend your hands, shoving him back. Mingyu stepped back, into Mina’s vision. She thought back to the night she saw you and Joshua on the balcony, your arms wrapped around him as you slurred your confession into the night air. She watched as Jeonghan led you back inside, leaving a flustered Joshua alone to process his thoughts.
She heard you hum “Goodnight, Mingyu.” before you were led inside. She pressed her hands to her mouth, careful not to smudge her lipstick.
“I cannot believe you would believe one thing she says to you over me! Do I mean nothing to you?!” Mina watched as you pushed yourself into view, and Mingyu pushed out.
“Of course, you know that’s not true. That’s why….” Mingyu’s voice finally dropped and softened as he put his hands in his pockets. “That’s why this entire fucking thing hurts so much.”
“Well, it hurts me too! If you think I love Joshua after such a short time with no proof, then how the fuck do you expect me to look at all of this -.” your hands motioned to his tux. “-And not think you love her too!”
“I don’t love her! I love you.”
Mina turned her head, unable to hear anymore. She didn’t realize she was clenching her fist at that moment until those words were spoken. When she looked down, her nails had dug deep into her palm, leaving bright red indents. She felt her eyes watering, unsure if it was because of the pain that began tingling in her palm, or the words playing on a loop in her head. She looked at Jihoon, who stood silently against the wall, hands in the pockets of his pants and his eyes cast out the nearby window. He only looked over for a second. Your exhausted and pained voice pulled Mina’s attention back to the door when you muttered:
“I find that very hard to believe.”
The way Mingyu practically gasped your name made it seem like it was the last word he would ever utter in his life, so much pain and longing in that one word. Mina put her hands on her skirt, gripping the soft fabric of the dress she twirled in only days earlier with her friends. This day was supposed to be a fairytale.
And it has turned into a nightmare within mere moments.
Mina heard the sound of footsteps, and she immediately looked at Jihoon, frantic and anxious. She was hoping he would direct her on what to do to avoid being caught. Jihoon simply pointed around the corner, and that was where the duo darted. Mina poked her head just slightly to see you exit the room. Your eyes were red as you wiped them, seemingly unaffected if your make-up was smudged at all. She always watched as Mingyu followed right behind you, taking your arm and turning you in his direction one last time.
The entire area seemed to freeze at that moment, Mina waited with bated breath to see what Mingyu intended to do. His grip on your wrist was gentle, he could tell by how his fingers just barely wrapped around the skin, gently resting on it. You were looking up at him, both of you sharing an intense glare. A whole conversation seemed to be happening just through eye contact, a whole history being retold through silent, parted lips. Mina watched as Mingyu finally released your wrist, watching as you walked down the hallway, not a word spoken as the story seemingly came to an end.
If that were the case, why did Mina feel unsatisfied? Mingyu stood there, hands in his pockets, and Mina simply pressed herself to the wall, covering her mouth again. Mingyu turned himself around, and Mina took the moment to study his face.
His eyes were red, darting them from left to right, up and down. His hands sat in his pockets, fearing if he pulled them out, then he would immediately start losing them. His lips were constantly rubbed by his tongue, before it pressed against his cheek, or worked to suck in a part of his bottom lip, chewing the inside. It seemed every fiber of his being was trying to prevent Mingyu from bursting into hysterics at this moment, and it only made Mina envision what she wanted to see: his beaming smile and unwavering kindness. It was supposed to happen, tonight of all nights.
As tears pricked Mina’s eyes, and she tucked herself further around the corner, she allowed herself a few minutes to remember the first time she experienced that version of Mingyu, the first time she knew that she would fall hopelessly in love with him.
-----Last Christmas, 9 months prior-----
“Mina.” A voice called, alerting the young heiress from the drab conversation she was having. Her father stood in front of her, a young handsome man at his side. “This is Kim Mingyu. He’s Mr. Kim’s son, from the law firm.”
“Hello.” Mingyu smiled, and Mina immediately felt her heart swell. She stuck her hand out in his direction, which Mingyu swiftly took as the duo exchanged a kind handshake.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you. Your father was such a big help.”
“Thank you,” Mingyu said, seemingly flustered in his father’s stead for the compliment. Mina watched her father slink away as the duo got to talking.
“Have you been in Japan long?” Mina asked curiously.
“Ah, no.” Mingyu shook his head. “This is my first time, actually. And we’re only here until tomorrow morning.” When Mina frowned, she saw Mingyu chuckle a bit. “I only seemed to come for this party. Which is amazing, by the way.”
“My father always hires the best party planners.” She pointed out. “Our last party was on the top of the company building.” Mingyu’s eyebrow arched in interest. “It doesn’t sound amazing, but the lighting and the way they decorated, you would think it was a club or something.” Mingyu grinned.
“I wish I come.”
“I’ll invite you next time, too,” Mina said sweetly. Mingyu nodded, his cheeks tinting pink as he hid it behind his glass. It only made Mina smile more. “Are you also studying to be a lawyer?”
“Yes,” Mingyu said. “I just finished my second year.” Mina nodded. “And yourself?”
“I’ve been raised to take over Father’s business since my mother first got pregnant.” She laughed a bit. “I didn’t think I’d be a good fit at first, being the first girl ever to take on the role, but-.”
Mingyu took her words right out of her mouth when he said: “You’ll do well.” Where others might be put off by the interruption, it made Mina smile.
The duo's conversation was interrupted by another male, one Mina had known for years. He showed up to every party, his father inheriting an entire conglomerate of entertainment businesses over half of Asia and acquiring even more after he married his actress wife. He slid up beside Mina, his red cheeks immediately making her step aside. His hand jerked a bit, a bit of champagne sloshing out of the glass and hitting Mina’s arm. She shook it off.
“Mina. Who’s this? Are you cheating on me?” He pointed to Mingyu. Mina immediately felt flustered, shoving him.
“In your dreams, Taro. Don’t you have much more desperate ladies to bother?”
“Only you, forever my love.” Taro grinned a bit. Mina scoffed, turning her head and taking a long sip of her drink. When she heard Taro step closer to her, she felt a figure step in front of her. She looked over, only to be met with a broad back and set of shoulders in a dashing tuxedo. “Eh? Who are you?”
“Kim Mingyu. The guy who was having a conversation with her before you so rudely interrupted.”
“Hm? T-that’s pretty rude the way you’re talking to me. I’m definitely older than you. Didn’t your father teach you to respect your elders?” Mingyu didn’t seem to be phased by the man’s slurred threats, only cocking an eyebrow in disinterest.
“I would go now.” He said simply. The man, confused and stunned to silence, watched Mingyu motion Mina to the opposite side of the party room. “Shall we?” he asked. Mina nodded, following him. When they heard Taro attempt to show in their direction, Mina’s attention was instead taken by Mingyu, who simply asked: “So, your major.” Before leading the duo into a new conversation.”
The rest of the party remained the same. Mina spent most of the night at Mingyu’s side, long after Taro was drunkenly shuffled out by the staff of the party. Mingyu kept her spirits high, making sure her drink was full and her smile was stuck on her face. It was comforting being in the orbit of this stranger who was both beautiful and kind. There didn’t seem to be a bad bone in his body, and Mina had made sure to check every angle when she had to change throughout the night. As it drew to a close, Mingyu being called by his father to meet him in the car, he looked at Mina.
“Get home safe.” He said.
“You too.” She said. “Have a safe flight home. I hope to see you back in Japan soon.” Mingyu smiled.
“I’ll consider it if there’s as many sights I missed as you claim.”
“Tokyo Tower alone is worth it.” She made sure to say one last time. Mingyu laughed, before bowing her head.
“Goodnight, Ms. Myoui.” He said. Mina nodded her head as well, waving him off as he jogged to his father’s side. She watched the duo chat for a minute, blushing when his father pointed in her direction. She offered one more wave to him, which Mingyu kindly returned, and the duo exited the room. It wasn’t long after that Mina was led out as well by one of her father’s workers, heading to the car that was ready to take them back to the house.
“It seems I made a good decision introducing you to Kim Mingyu, hm?” her father asked. Mina nodded, pressing her fingers together shyly. “The two of you were together almost the entire night.”
“Where we?” she asked, as though she didn’t know. Her father laughed at the sight of his daughter’s lovestruck face.
“That looks like the face of a young lady in love.” Mina gasped, only allowing her father to laugh once more as the car drove into the night.
Mina coughed into her hand, finally feeling tears escaping her eyes as she snapped them back to the present day. She looked over at Jihoon, who simply stayed silent. He couldn’t look at her, as if she would want him too. When she looked back down the hall, you and Mingyu had already disappeared.
“Are you okay?” He finally asked, making her look over. Mina wiped her eyes, shaking her head.
“I don’t know.” She said softly. “I thought this would all work out. I thought it would be okay after this. I really….”
Jihoon watched as Mina raked a hand through her hair, allowing some of the curls to tug so hard on her head that they loosened. He simply began the journey back to the dining hall, hoping that she would get the hint and follow. It took a second, but her heels clacked to his side. He could hear a few sniffles, and he simply said: “Pull yourself together before you go back in.”
“How did it go?” Jeonghan asked when you sat down in your seat. You took a deep breath, shaking your head. Immediately, he saw your eyes pricking with tears. “Hey…”
“I don’t think anything was solved.” You said simply. “This entire thing was a waste. He doesn’t believe me and he’s made his decision.” You said softly. “It’s too late. Mina’s won.” Joshua leaned back in his seat, biting his lip. You reached your hand up to your collarbones, the one cool and decorated area feeling newly deserted and lifeless as you felt for where a pink gemstone one sat. Feeling your chest well up with painful memories, you looked at Joshua. Then you looked at Jeonghan. “I want to go home…” you begged softly.
Mingyu reentered the room right as you were getting up to leave. Joshua and Jeonghan were at your side. He watched as the rest of your friends offered to go as well, most likely opting for relaxing the rest of the night away together rather than staying here. However, you shook your head, seeming to encourage the rest of them to stay here. Mingyu stood out of sight, hands crossed as he studied you. Even from a distance, he could sense the pain and exhaustion written all over your face. He was just about to approach you when he saw another figure enter from another entrance. He looked over, watching as Mina strolled in, Jihoon behind her. He cocked an eyebrow, a bit confused.
He didn’t seem to have a lot of time to think about where the two could have gone together, as he saw Mina make a beeline for you. “Oh, fuck…” he grumbled to himself, finally finding the courage - or maybe the dread of what was coming - to make his way over as well.
Just as you were about to exit the table, you heard a voice behind you. You turned, watching as Mina approached you. You could tell by her expression that she was frazzled, just as much as you. However, the closer she got, the angrier you felt yourself growing. What did she have to be upset about? She called your name, but you simply stepped back.
“Don’t…” you said quickly. Mina blinked, frowning. “Don’t talk to me. You have ruined everything.”

"Minghao, wait, my legs are significantly shorter than yours!" You called after him. He halted and turned back to you, watching you jog to catch up with him.
"Sorry." He gave you a smug smile and you glared at him. He always teased you for being short.
"Here, give me your bag." He held out his hand for your backpack, but you hesitated. He already was carrying his own, another bag with miscellaneous things, and the cooler with the food.
"I'm fine." You adjusted the straps, and he narrowed his eyes.
"You sure?"
"The bag isn't the problem, it’s because you're a freaking tree. A skinny tree, but still a tree." You shoved him playfully and then continued on down the sidewalk away from the parking lot. You two were supposed to be meeting a few of your friends for food and games. It was good to come to the park because it was big and open, and most people didn't care about the noise the boys would make. Even better was that not everyone was going to be there. Jihoon, Wonwoo, and Junhui either can control their volume or are just quiet anyway. Soonyoung, Mingyu and Seokmin however…
"So, uh, does Jihoon know you're coming?" Minghao asked out of the blue as you went up the stairs towards the river.
"I don't know, why?" You looked at him and he avoided your gaze.
"Just…wondering." You had a feeling why he was asking. While nothing official had happened, you two had been getting closer than most friends do. He even almost kissed you one night. Jihoon on the other hand had actually asked you out, but then treated it like a joke. You weren't completely dense, you knew he liked you, and that Minghao would get jealous sometimes. What neither of them knew though was that for about the last month or two, you were convinced that you were legitimately in love with Minghao. Your first love was actually your high school best friend, but when nothing ever came of that, and your heart kept getting stepped on, you decided to never like a friend again. You didn't know Jihoon nearly as well as Minghao, so it scared you a little less with him. Losing Minghao…not possible.
You two walked in silence the rest of the way, and when you caught sight of the rest of them, you braced yourself.
"MINGHAO! (Y/N)! We're over here!" Soonyoung shouted, jumping up and waving his arms.
"Kind of hard to miss the tiger shirt…" You muttered; the boy next to you huffed out a laugh. Mingyu was laying out a large picnic blanket while Wonwoo was getting food out from their cooler. Junhui and Seokmin were taking a bunch of games and toys out of several bags, honestly making a mess, probably looking for something specific. You snuck a glance at Jihoon who was sitting in a camping chair strumming his guitar.
"Hey, (Y/N)." He called out and you nodded politely. He stood up, placing his guitar to the side and took your backpack as you slipped it off. Casting a look to Minghao, he diverted his gaze quickly, setting the cooler and other bag near Seokmin.
"You get the Coke?" He asked, nodding over to the cooler.
"Of course." His question was a no brainer.
"Here, sit here." He moved the chair forward for you.
"I-I'm good." You waved him off and before he could insist you jogged over to where the two tallest were setting up the food.
"Oh!" You noticed a snack that you really liked and grabbed it. You didn't get to eat it too often because it was kind of hard to find, nowhere near your apartment ever had it.
"Yeah, Jihoon found it and bought it for you." Mingyu informed and you slowly put it down and helped Wonwoo to get the rest of the stuff.
"You good?" Wonwoo whispered next to you, and you nodded.
"I think." You glanced at Minghao and the man next to you glanced over there too.
"You ever gonna tell him?"
"I don't know." You replied. You had known Wonwoo the longest, he actually introduced you to everyone else. You met in college, both working at the library. He was a lot like you and had similar interests, but you both agreed you felt more like siblings.
"(Y/N)!" A voice called and you looked up at Junhui.
"Catch!" He shouted and you barely had time to react before you reached up to receive the incoming bottle. You almost fumbled it but recovered and looked at the drink. Once again, like the snack, it was one you really liked but was hard to find.
"Where'd you find this?" You shouted to him and someone closer answered.
"It was in the bottom of a fridge at the convenience store." Jihoon told you and you snapped your head to look at him. How did he learn all of your favorites, let alone remember them?
"How did you-" You began, and he just shrugged, giving you a smirk. Twiddling the drink in your hands, you weren't sure how to feel. It was really sweet, but… Looking at Minghao again, he was pretending to be preoccupied with filling the Nerf guns with the foam bullets.
"(Y/N)!" You were tackled by a Soonyoung.
"Gah, what!?" You tried to shove him off of you, but he wrapped himself around you instead.
"Thank you!" He repeated several times. His favorite kimchi was from a place near where your parents lived, and you had brought him a big jug of it.
"Yah! Kwon Soonyoung!" Jihoon scolded him, slapping him hard on the back and yanking him off of you. You quickly stood and fled, running to the safety of Minghao. Hiding behind him, you crouched down next to him and peered around him at the shorter guy wailing on the other one.
"You really like those snacks he got you…" The boy next to you muttered and you looked away from the carnage to see his small grimace.
"It’s not because he's the one that got them." You replied and he shrugged. Instantly feeling bad, you wanted to say something to him, but were not sure what to say or how.
"Okay! Let's eat and then we can run around and scream." Junhui announced, carrying the drink cooled over to the middle of the blanket and you all sat to eat. You settled down next to Minghao and Seokmin sat on the other side of you. There was some fighting over the food, but you were able to calm down the nonsense before stuff started getting thrown. Despite Jihoon having bought you your favorite drink and snack, you kind of just ignored them. You could eat them later; you really didn't want to make Minghao feel worse. For some reason, guilt was building up faster and faster, you really just wanted to let everything out. Glancing at Minghao, you noticed he had a bit of food on his cheek, so you bunched up your sleeve to reach up and swipe it off. He froze and no one else seemed to notice. Peering at you, he wiped at the spot with his hand himself and shot you a shy smile. Listening to the ridiculous argument going on between the rest of them, you readjusted your position and leaned against Minghao. You could see Jihoon's eyes flash over to you and you focused intently on Mingyu despite not really understanding what was coming out of his mouth. Lost in your own thoughts, everyone else finished and decided to start the games.
"What do you wanna play first, (Y/N)?" Mingyu asked and you thought for a second, looking behind you at all the toys laid out.
You ended up playing a game similar to capture the flag, but it was more like the game on Fall Guys where you have to steal the tail. Everyone split up into twos and put on the flag belt, the single yellow flag snapped onto Junhui's belt. You were teamed up with Wonwoo, Minghao was with Jun, Seokmin and Soonyoung (the loudest possible combination), and finally Mingyu with Jihoon. When Jihoon called for it to start you ran at Jun, Wonwoo blocking Soonyoung from tackling you. You reached out, yoinking the yellow flag from his belt and running away cackling. The magnet on the flag attached to the one on your belt as you ran. Using the zig-zag maneuver, you avoided Minghao trying to get it back. Suddenly, you were up in the air and with a yelp you realized Mingyu had slung you over his shoulder.
"I have the flag!" He cheered.
"No, you don't she does still!" Seokmin protested and you tried to wiggle off and his hand came to your butt to hold you in place. You yelped and smacked him, and he apologized, moving his hand but not letting you go.
"Kim Mingyu, put me down!" You shouted and the alarm went off stating the round was over.
"We won!" Mingyu cheered and there was a great deal of protest, and he let you down finally when Jihoon prompted him to. The shorter one's arm wrapped around you, plucking the flag from your belt with him being much too close. Your face warmed, but it was more from embarrassment that Minghao was watching like he was. You chuckled nervously and backed up, suggesting you move on to a different game. As the day continued you played many different things; shot each other with nerf guns, tossed a frisbee with the hidden intent of actually hitting someone, chicken fights. Rackets for badminton were brought but no one thought to bring shuttlecocks. Soonyoung wanted to have a water balloon fight, but it was not quite the weather for that. Mingyu had an idea to have a race but one person had to carry the other…So, you ended up on his shoulders. You weren't quite sure about this, and you would have felt much safer on his back, but he insisted. Wonwoo ended up with Minghao on his back, Seokmin carried Junhui and Jihoon had to team up with Soonyoung.
"Can I please get on your back?" You asked him and Mingyu insisted he wanted to do it this way; that way it was actually harder than just running on his own. Looking over at Minghao next to you, he seemed still a little cranky and wouldn't look at you. When it was called for everyone to run, you clenched your thighs and dug your fingers into the fabric of his shirt at the shoulders and he took off. You tried not to scream as he ran and you hoped this was the craziest idea of the day.
It was not the craziest idea. Somehow you ended up in the center of a monkey in the middle game. You guys played kick the can, but the can was full, then they would play rock-paper-scissors and the loser had to open it in their face. That was sticky. They wanted you to play the game with them where they hold onto each other's  and try to pull everyone apart; you decided to just watch that one. A game of tag broke out, but no one was declared it so everyone was just running around. The worst was prevented though when Soonyoung suggested fishing in the river BY HAND. Everyone else shot that one down. By the time the sun was starting to set, you were lying under a tree trying to catch your breath. You had taken your sweatshirt off a long time ago, tying it around your waist, the grass tickling your bare arms. You heard someone sit down next to you, your eyes were closed to prevent the sun from getting in them. You tried not to flinch when the person brushed some hair off your face.
"You tired?" Jihoon's voice didn't surprise you too much. You opened your eyes and turned to see him looking softly down at you.
"I would be more concerned if I wasn't." You told him and brought your head up some to watch Seokmin try to catch a frog and failing. They had so much energy. Resting your head back again, you just reveled in the rest and soon a third person wandered up.
"You need to go after him, he's leaving." Wonwoo whispered to you, and you shot up to see Minghao storming away and Junhui calling after him.
"Is he okay?" Jihoon asked and you stood up and took off after him.
"(Y/N)!" He called after you himself and you flew past the rest of them. He was already at the bottom of the stairs and heading toward the parking lot.
"Minghao!" You shouted and you know he heard you, but he didn't stop.
"Hey, wait!" You tried not to trip down the stairs and kept going.
"Xu Minghao!" Reaching for his hand, he turned to you aggressively and the look on his face took you aback.
"What? Shouldn't you be flirting with Jihoon?"
"What are you talking about? He keeps approaching me! There's nothing going on there!" You motioned behind you vaguely.
"Really? He sure thinks there is."
"What do you mean?"
"Soonyoung told me he asked you out."
"Yes. But it was a joke."
"Was it?"
"Look, either way, nothing actually happened. Yes, he bought me those things I like, but that doesn't mean we are dating-"
"Do you want to though?"
"What?"
"Go out with Jihoon?"
"No! I don't. He's not-" You didn't get to finish since he stepped closer to you and cut you off. He was so close you had to tilt your head back to even see his face.
"He's not what?"
"He's…he's not you." You finally breathed out and his eyes softened, his hand came up to cup the back of your head. Your breath hitched and you expected a soft kiss, a hug, but he bent down and crashed his lips on yours. You gasped at the emotion behind the act, your eyes welling up with tears. His other hand pulled you closer by the small of your back; you dug your fingers in the fabric of his shirt at his sides. When he pulled back you whined, and he chuckled. You were already standing so close, but he hugged you closer and held him as tight as you could.
"It’s always been you."
