Anything to help
Chapter 2 | Masterlist | Chapter 4
Description: Joshua had been traumatized, formally used as a fighting hybrid and then traded around like a caged animal. Then, by chance, he ends up in your clinic. With a bit of love and care, he can only be glad he ended up with you.
Pairing: Hong Joshua x gn!reader (platonic) Word Count: 2.2k words Warnings: trauma, injuries
Now when Chan mentioned an over aggressive hybrid, you were expecting to see the typical type. Lots of scars, big build and a very dangerous type of hybrid. Not the thin and elegant looking hybrid that sat in front of you. Well, sat is a big word as he was strapped to the examine table while the nurses sat to the side. One of them was crouched on the ground, arm cradled to their chest with tears streaming down their face.
"Alright, you guys can go. Take tomorrow of and get those wounds checked along with your shot." You spoke and the nurses all nodded before fleeing the room. You looked back at the hybrid on the table, who was growling as his eyes connected with yours. You crossed your arms as you inspected him.
Long orange-brownish hair, mostly matted, sharp eyes with that had that typical yellow-greenish shine that made you sure of what he was. A tiger hybrid, what kind was still a mystery. As you stepped closer to inspect him, noticing slightly darker skin patches that formed stripes along his arms and chest. Right as you reached for one of the stipes, the hybrid snapped his fangs at you. You didn't flinch away, instead you gave a pointed glare at him before leaning against the table near his legs.
"Now, this can go two ways. One, you're going to behave and I'll uncuff you. Second option, you remain cuffed and I sedate you for an examination. Trust me, I think we both prefer the first one." You spoke and the growling stopped before the hybrid let his head drop back, hitting the metal table with a thump. Assuming he was ready, you moved to the first cuff and undid it before leaning over him and undoing the second one. Then you felt a hand on your arms, nails digging in your skin as you were pulled to the man's face. You sighed as you looked him straight in the eyes before gently raising your second hand. Then, in a flash, you took ahold of his left fang and pulled hard enough to make him wail in pain, which made him let go in a second. You stood up straight and inspected your arm, but the damage was not severe enough to bother you and thus you continued.
"Wanna go again?" You asked and the hybrid growled loudly again, baring his teeth at you with a low rumbling. Then it stopped, the hybrid curling into himself as you undid the remaining cuffs on his ankles. In a second, he was off the table and ran to the door. Sadly, for him, Minghao stood there and he was not moving. Noticing that he was at a disadvantage, the tiger just moved back to the back and curled into a corner.
"Are you afraid?" A low growl followed your question and you frowned as you sat down fully on the table. "Are you unable to talk?" You asked again and the low hum confirmed your observation, making you sigh softly.
"Minghao, could you get me a paper and a pen, please?" You asked and Minghao looked up before looking at the other hybrid. You assured him that you'd be fine, which then left you alone in the room. You walked to the door and locked it before looking at the tiger again, gently approaching him before crouching down. He was shivering, hair standing high and eyes carefully inspecting you. Even then, you decided to continue and moved on to his neck, gently lifting his face so that you could inspect it fully. Like expected, he had a muter on his neck that had been put on hastily by the looks of it. You lifted your finger to touch it, feeling the tender skin underneath it before you got up again.
"Come on, we're removing that." You motioned for him to return to the examining table, which he fearfully did, while you got your stuff. Luckily it was on top of his skin, so no cutting was necessary. So with a magnet and some spray, you got to work at removing the device.
"There." You smiled as you took ahold of the device, holding it up with a proud grin before looking at the tiger again. His hands moved to his neck, feeling the smooth skin again with a happy sigh before he looked at you again. His eyes moved to the pierced skin of your arm, gently moving closer to you and taking ahold of your arm.
The moment was ruined, however, when the door burst open and removed from its hinges, revealing your two hybrid companions with worried looks on their faces. Chan was the first to move, jumping in between you and the tiger before Minghao gently moved you back as well.
"Chan, calm down." "He hurt you!" Chan exclaimed, not taking his eyes of the hybrid before him and you sighed before moving past Minghao. It wasn't easy, but with a glare he soon let you move past, and you took ahold of Chan's collar to pull him back.
"He's scared, Chan. Look at him." Chan followed your advise, seeing the shaking man and letting himself relax. Once he was standing, it was much clearer how thin the man was. Bones poked out in certain places and his skin looked pale, almost deadly.
"Doctor?" At the sound of your nurse's voice, you all turned around to face her. She stood in the doorway, weirdly glancing at the spot where the door used to be before shaking her head and looking at you again.
"The cops are here... They're looking for him." She pointed at the injured man behind you, who seemed to freeze up before moving back to the further wall and sliding down to curl in a ball again. You gave a look to the two others before leaving the room.
Chan looked at the trembling hybrid again before looking at Minghao, who just shrugged. It was silent, except for the low whimpering, and Chan felt anxious. While, yes, the hybrid had not only attacked him and some nurses, but also you. Yet, now it was clear that it was not meant badly, rather as a form of protection. So, against all instincts, Chan moved closer to the man and sat down beside him.
"I'm Chan... Sorry for threatening you, I was just protecting (y/n)." "It's okay." The voice that came from the hybrid beside him was soft and broken, making Chan frown as he watched the man struggle with continuing.
"You should drink." Minghao approached with a cup of water, Chan had no clue as to where the cup came from, and the man took ahold of it before chugging it down a bit too quickly.
"I'll get you another... Uh, what's your name?" Minghao asked the question that lingered in everyone's mind as he filled the cup again, which was once more downed by the man.
"Joshua..." The man, Joshua, finally mumbled after his third glass of water, and Minghao nodded at him as he settled down in front of Joshua. Chan, like he had done with Minghao, started to rant about everything he wanted Joshua to know and Minghao could only chuckle at how many times your name had come up already. Chan sounded like he was infatuated with you, Minghao was sure that it sounded like that to others and maybe even a bit to him, but in the end he knew better. Chan wanted for Joshua to trust you, be comfortable around you and have no fear anymore. It was the same thing that Chan had done for him and Minghao could only smile at the thought.
Minghao could only hope for the best, that Joshua could grow as a person and find himself again. Then again, Minghao was sure that if anyone could do it, it would be you.
"I know it's difficult, but you have to eat something. We can build up amount over time, get you back on track in no time." You spoke as you sat near Joshua, who had improved much over the last week of his stay. His hair was no neat, cut nicely and brushed to make it look shiny, and he had gained some weight to cover his figure. Not enough for him to be fully healthy, but an improvement nonetheless.
Him sitting here was also an improvement of course, right in between a mass of other hybrids. Although he was still anxious, seen by the way his ears moved constantly to hear everything, he had learned and gotten better at interactions. He was kind, sweet and you could only call him an angel at this point. He had moved in with you, sleeping alone in the room opposites of Chan and Minghao. You had only seen it once on the inside, the rest of your information came from Chan, and it was build more like a nest than a room if anything. You couldn't help but wonder what it looked like, but you didn't want to force yourself into Joshua's personal space and thus you just remained curious.
You sighed as you watched Joshua lay down his cutlery, looking slightly sick from eating too much, yet his bowl remained half full. You wanted him to eat more, but he already ate more than yesterday and you knew it would take time for him to get fully used to eating again.
"You gained some weight." You smiled at him, watching as Joshua looked up in surprised before frowning to himself as he took ahold of his own face. He stretched the skin softly and you stopped him from doing so, lowering his hands with your own.
"It's a good thing, don't fret. You look amazing." You smiled and he looked at you again, a bit unsure before nodding at you. You only felt discomfort at the fact that Joshua seemed so insecure about himself, constantly making remarks about not looking good enough that you always had to refute. You didn't even want to think about what he went through, what kind of person would break someone's self-esteem just for fun. It made you sick, nausea climbing up your throat and threating to spill.
Instead of continuing to think about it, you shook your head and grabbed the bowl of food to discard it. Then you got up, waiting for Joshua to follow you as you walked to your practice. Joshua followed with his tail tucked between his legs and ears pressed flat against his head, flinching every time someone greeted you.
Once you reach your office, Joshua is quick to run inside and sit in the corner. His ears twitch as he sits in the beanbag, curling up with a content sigh. You smile as you sit at your desk, turning your computer on to start working while Joshua fell asleep in his beanbag.
You sighed as you sat by the pool, watching as Chan and Minghao splashed around in the pool while Joshua sat on the side with his feet in the water. Your book was on your lap on your lap as you watched them, smiling softly. It had been two months since Joshua had been under your care and you couldn't help but see how he had bloomed open into a happier version of himself. Even now, as he sat by the pool and watched Chan and Minghao playing, the smile was stuck on his face as his tail swayed happily. You can't help but feel a bit proud of how relaxed Joshua had become. While he still flinched at loud sounds and was rather uncomfortable and shy around stranger, it was better than him being the scared tiger from before.
Just then, Joshua looked at you. His ears perked up, his tail swaying a bit faster as he made his way over to you and sat beside you. "Thank you..." He speaks softly and you chuckle, closing your book and put it aside.
"It's nothing... I gladly help out" You smile at him before noticing a look in his eyes of slight hesitation. "Is something bothering you, Joshua?" You ask and he looks up before sighing softly as he fiddles with the hem of his shirt.
"How influential are you to bust down trading centers?" He asks softly, glancing up at you through his lashes. You can't help but frown at his question.
"Well... If you can give me any important information, then I can definitely order an investigation... Why?" You ask and Joshua sighs softly as he looks down again.
"My friend... He... He's a Mexican wolf hybrid that came from America like me..." He mumbles and you nod, trying to keep back the frown on your face. Mexican wolf hybrids were as rare as the species itself, usually avoided because they had aggressive tendencies. You had never even seen or met one unless they were already dead.
"I'll see what I can do... but I need all the information you can give me." You say and he nods before smiling as he repeated your words.
"Anything to help."

I don't want you to get hurt
Chapter 1 | Masterlist | Chapter 3
Description: Injured by a boat propellor and then almost being sold, Minghao finds himself at your clinic thanks to Chan. He can't deny that he enjoys being there.
Pairing: Xu Minghao x gn!reader (platonic) Word Count: 3.3k words
"Do you think I could just jump in?" Chan asked as he peered over the tank, trying to catch the creature inside. You scoffed as you turned away from him, instead choosing to inspect the chart instead.
"You said you found him in Norway?" You looked up from your chart to the man before you, who nodded as he started his story once more. You shook your head at him, just writing down the information before turning to the tank again. It was huge and so far you had yet to see the hybrid that you came to help, who was probably hiding himself near the other side of the tank. The rustling of clothes beside you made you sigh as you called out Chan's name, not having to look up to know that the otter planned to jump in.
"I can get him, it'll be fine!" Chan insisted and at this point, you felt no reason to argue. Although, he didn't really get the chance as a loud thud was heard from beside you. Turning your head, you were met with the stare of a very handsome face, one that you presumed belonged to the hybrid you were meeting. Long blondish-grey hair and a very intense stare that made the hairs on your neck stand up for just a few seconds. He didn't look like you expected him to, most whale hybrids you had met were taller than the normal human and definitely more robust. Yet this hybrid was just a normal height and on the leaner side, however he was definitely toned nonetheless.
How'd you know? Well, he was naked for one.
"Not to sound like a prude, but why is he naked?" You asked, turning your head away from the hybrid and looking at the man again. He just explained that the hybrid did not want to take anything from them. You nodded before turning to Chan, holding your hand out before looking at the hybrid in the tank. Chan handed you some clothes, which you quickly threw over the edge of the tank. The whale hybrid didn't move his gaze from you, letting the clothes sink to the ground.
"Put those on, we can talk after." You said, watching him closely for any kind of reaction. He didn't react for a few seconds before suddenly turning his gaze away from you and instead to the clothing, a clicking sound softly ringing from him before he swam downwards and dressing himself. Then he swam upwards again with great speed, launching himself above the water and propping himself up on the edge of the tank. He whined softly, almost like a whale would normally do, and you smiled at him.
"Can you come out of the tank?" You asked, watching as the hybrid stared at you again. Then he pushed himself up, climbing over the edge before dropping himself. Once he stood before you, he just waited. You did the same, waiting for any kind of movement of the male.
"Minghao." He spoke, his voice sounded like a soft melody that you assumed came from the low whine he produced earlier, and you nodded before writing it down. You looked up to him, only to find that he was not in front of you anymore and rather stalking around you and Chan. You took a good look at him as he was circling Chan, noticing the webbed fingers and toes, soft white spots on the front of his chest and neck. The freckles on his face seemed to light up in a way and you couldn't help but chuckle at how excited he suddenly seemed to get once it clicked that Chan was a hybrid too. You'd never see someone jump so high in the sky before, certainly not a whale hybrid, as he held on to Chan's hand while smiling oh-so- brightly. However, that also revealed the large gash on the bottom of his ribcage as he jumped up in happiness again.
"Could you hold still for a second, please?" You asked him and he looked at you, frozen in place as you carefully lifted his shirt. You noticed the slight twitch from his body, but continued to lift the shirt nonetheless before inspecting the wound. It wasn't just one gash, it was a few close next to each other and you could only frown.
"Did you get hit by a boat propellor?" The question seemed to startle him a bit before he nodded. You looked closer to the wounds, which were deep enough to see the slight white of his ribcage.
"I need to stitch this... Can you sit down, I brought my stuff." You said and Minghao looked at Chan, who nodded reassuringly, before sitting down and slightly leaning to the side to expose the wound. You smiled before getting your stuff, now glad that you decided to bring your anesthetics and stitching equipment. He didn't flinch when you inserted the needle with anesthetics nor did he ever flinch as you stitched up the wounds. When finished, you applied some bandages before nodding at him.
"Done." You stated, smiling at the hybrid as he softly poked the bandages before he looked back to his tank. Sensing his thoughts, you quickly pulled out something else and softly sticking it on top of the bandage. It was a thin elastic material, made specifically for water hybrids so they could swim without any worry.
"You can swim with this on, no worries." You gave him another reassuring smile before turning back to the man who called you, ready to start explaining the medicine the boy should get. Instead, the man just shook his head before you could even start.
"He's not staying here, so don't bother me with the details. Just give me a list that I can stick on his box." The man spoke, clearly not sensing the sudden drop of the mood as he rambled on.
"He's being shipped to Canada later today, they've been looking for whale hybrids for quite awhile now. Getting the population back up, you know the usual drill." He continued and you folded your arms with an annoyed sigh, glancing at Minghao before turning back to the man before you.
"And you got his consent?" The frown on the man's face said enough and you scoffed. "The law states that a hybrid has the right to chose what to do with their lives, thus for such decisions that you are making I assume you had consent? Otherwise this rescue center might have some legal trouble on it's way..." You mumbled the last part, not too quiet so the man would still hear you, before turning to Minghao.
"So, what are you doing with your life then?" You gave him a smile, trying to convince him to actually make the decisions on his own. Minghao looked up before glancing at Chan, who had been sitting beside him and talking to him with a smile. You had no doubt that Chan had told him his whole life story, he had done that quite a few times now, and you could see that the wheels in Minghao's head were turning.
"I want to work in your clinic." Minghao finally said, his voice suddenly serious and monotone unlike before. Now that, you did not expect and it was definitely a first, but you took it nonetheless as you turned back to the man with a gentle smile.
"Seems like he's coming with me instead. Might want to call that breeding center..." You gave another fake smile before guiding the two hybrids out of the room, pausing in the door and leaning back.
"Breeding is illegal in Canada, so I'd call the police if I were you or you might get a little visit later."
"Renovations are finished." One of your nurses gave you a smile as you arrived at your clinic. Your eyes widened in surprise before you entered the doors, seeking out the new building. A sanctuary, where hybrids can live and heal without trouble of finding a sanctuary that wasn't full already. Just one for your patients. The best part, however, was the small building on the east side. Your house, which was supposed to be big enough for you to live in. However, it seemed like the architect or builders had different ideas as the house was big enough to be called a mansion that was big enough to house at least 30 people if not more.
"I asked for a tank..." Chan whispered in your ear and you turned your head, looking at him with a look of a combination of annoyance and surprise. Then you sighed, rolling your eyes at him before moving your gaze to the buildings. The were placed in a circle with another large building right in the middle of it along with some sort of garden. You started to walk, wanting to view the habitats firsthand.
The first building left of you was an aquatic habitat, reaching about 4 floors. On the right was a marine one, which was filled up with different corals and plants inside as well as rocks to hide from view. On the left was a freshwater aquatic habitat, which was much simpler than the marine one when it came to decorations.
The second building next to it was a forest habitat, which was consistent of 3 parts. The left one was the temperate forest. It looked like a typical rainforest, large trees and a variety of plants to color the room. The middle room was the tropical forest, which looked like the amazon rainforest with dense climate of plants and you could only imagine how humid and warm it would be there. The third and final room was the boreal forest and this one was filled with coniferous trees that shielded the artificial light.
The third building was the largest when it came to surface level. Two levels high and at least two football fields big with bright green grass that made you want to run in there.
The fourth building was a desert habitat, which consisted of a large field of sand and a blazing heat that made the view distorted.
The fifth and final building was a mountain habitat and when looking inside, you noticed the thick fog that hung low on the ground while snow covered the floor. Unlike the tropical forest, this one seemed to be on the colder side.
Then finally, the building in the middle. It looked like some kind of common place for people to eat and interact with each other. The garden around it seemed for the same purpose, chairs and tables already placed in between the blooming flowers and bushes.
Overall, it was a very pleasant surprise that you certainly did not expect to be finished this early. You wished you could appreciate it a bit more, but instead Chan was quick to drag you off in excitement of his new home.
The first thing to note was the massive swimming pool, which seemed way deeper than a normal one would be, and it seemed to excite both Chan and Minghao. You decided to enter the house while they inspected the pool, pausing in the doorway as you noticed how large the building actually was. 2 offices to work in, 6 bedrooms, a large kitchen, 4 bathrooms and a small gym. Way too much for what you actually needed, but you ignored it. It was already build, you could find different uses for the rooms and having a gym would really be handy when you finally got motivated to start exercising again. Walking up the stairs, you started to inspect the rooms before opting to take the one with the office connected to it. Chan chose the one that was closest to the pool, which Minghao opted to use as well. You found it ironic how quick Minghao had opened up to the younger and how he now clung to the otter hybrid.
"Alright! You two can settle in, I'm going to get to work."
The sweat on your skin made you grimace as you actively tried to wipe it all off, but to no avail. The desert was certainly not something for you, the heat had caused you to undress until you only wore some flowy shorts and a tank top that was drenched in your sweat. An injured sidewinder hybrid, unlike others of his kind he was graced with a lower body resembling the body of a snake, that forced you to stay in the desert habitat for nearly an hour. If it wasn't for the fact that the lighting was artificial and thus harmless, you swore you would have a heat stroke.
The soft breeze that blew past you as you exited the habitat made you sigh in relief before pulling the towel around your neck down to wipe your body once more.
"Hey doctor!" Voices rang in harmony, multiple hybrids giving you wide smiles and happy waves that you gladly returned. Being open for only a week, the center had filled up quickly with hybrid from all over the world. It was surprising to say the least, but it was something you loved to see. Some stayed longer than others, opting to help out at the clinic or in the center itself, but most moved on with their lives fully healed from their injuries.
Nonetheless, you were happy.
"Ma'am?" Silence was interrupted by a melodic voice that you quickly recognized as Minghao's, making you turn your head slightly with a smile.
"I told you, just (y/n) is fine." He seemed appalled by the idea, mumbling that ma'am felt correct to him. "Ma'am is a bit insulting, you know? It makes me feel old... I'm not even thirty yet, so I am far from being old." You gave Minghao a smile before continuing on your way with the whale in tow. Unlike before, where he walked with a slumped back and heavy footsteps, he now walked freely. A soft spring in his step, shoulders back and head held high in pride.
Over the week he had grown past his initial doubts and fears, choosing to express himself in all kind of ways. His style, although you didn't get it, was more fashion based and his makeup made his natural features shine brighter. You particularity loved the glitter he adorned his freckles, making them sparkle in the sunlight. You could only thank Chan for whatever he did to make Minghao feel so comfortable.
"Are you okay?" He asked and you nodded at him, bringing the towel up to dry up your wet hair while trying to ignore the sudden chill that ran over you.
"Are you?" "Ah... Yes. Chan is with the kids and I don't find them that appealing... They bite." His statement only made you laugh, tilting your head forward as you tried to hold in the laughter. Minghao could only roll his eyes at you before asking if he could help somewhere else.
"Not really... My shift is over now unless an emergency arises, so I'll be doing paperwork in my office. You are welcome to join me, if you wish." With a gentle smile and Minghao nodded before following you.
Once in your office, he settled in the bean bag while you moved to your room to change into something else. The tank top was first to be discarded, replaced by a breezy oversized shirt while your pants were changed into another pair of shorts. When you took a look into the mirror, you could only sigh as you saw your reflection. You were tired, no other way to explain it. The bags under your eyes had grown, your skin had grown deadlier compared to your usual complexion and you didn't even want to het started on the mess that your hair had become, dead ends reaching further than they had ever had. You shook your head, ignoring those thoughts as you moved back to your office.
To your surprise, Minghao was leaned over your desk and inspecting the document with a pointed glare. You raised an eyebrow as you walked over, pulling your chair to yourself before sitting down and crossing your legs as you waited.
"These are wrong, you know that right? They're trying to scam you." Minghao spoke up after a few minutes, to which you frowned as you shuffled closer to read the documents. Minghao leaned over you, pointing at certain phrases that didn't make sense as he explained why.
"You're good at this... Really good." You grinned at Minghao, who only shrugged at you before grabbing another chair and rolling it closer. That's how you found yourself in this position, side by side with the whale hybrid as you went through every document. While he seemed confused by some things in the documents, others things seemed easy for him. You could only wonder where the knowledge came from, but that question was soon answered when Minghao spoke up again.
"Traders tend to talk business a lot... I picked some stuff up here and there." He gave a gentle smile and you could only grin as it was the first time he ever did so in your presence. He didn't seem to pay attention to it, continuing his reading and marking certain parts with your pen. You hadn't even noticed that he had plucked it from your hand, but he had and was using it very diligently.
"Do you just want to take over?" You joked, to which Minghao looked up and pause before nodding. "It'll give me something to do." He smiled and you nodded, rolling back and watching as he hunched over the papers. You'd read everything afterwards, for now you could relax. And thus you're eyes started to close, making you drift off and soon you were asleep.
Minghao had a soft smile on his face as he heard the soft snoring from behind him, fully aware that you were sleeping. Lifting his head, he looked at you before shrugging off his jacket and gently draping it over you. Then he sat back down in his chair and continued his work, the smile on his face not disappearing.
That was until Chan burst into the room, whom Minghao quickly shushed before pointing at you. Although Chan remained quiet, Minghao could see that he seemed worried and anxious.
"What's wrong?" Minghao asked, laying down the pen and standing up to calm Chan down if necessary. It was then that he noticed the large gashes on Chan's arm along with a bite mark on his hand. He inspected them carefully before looking at Chan's face, but his eyes seemed lifeless and pointed at you. So Minghao called your name, which prompted in you waking up quickly and not so elegantly. You seemed dazed and sleepy, but that quickly disappeared once you noticed Chan and his distress.
"They brought in this hybrid, he's... he's really aggressive and I didn't want to nurses to get hurt - I tried to muzzle him to be safe, but he bit me and-" "I got it Chan. How about you get those treated first while I go down." You gave a smile before looking at Minghao, who nodded before forcing Chan to his room to treat the wounds. You on the other hand, getting ready to head to your practice.
"I'll come." Minghao's voice rang out and you turned before shaking your head, but Minghao followed anyway. "Chan is sleeping, all his wounds are clean already and I covered them all properly. I'm not letting you get hurt." Minghao continued as you speed-walked down the hall and to your practice.
"Didn't know you cared." You teased, but Minghao scoffed at you.
"Chan asked me too." He said and you chuckled again, nodding as you grabbed your doctor coat and tied your hair back. Minghao followed you inside and you handed him a thick leather jacket, explaining that it was for protection before turning to head inside. Minghao stopped you, however, and turned you around to check if you were protected as well.
"I don't want you to get hurt either, of course."

Right here with me
Info | Masterlist | Chapter 2
Description: It started with an invitation to spend a week with you, but now he remained with you for the rest of his days.
Pairing: Lee Chan x gn!reader (platonic) Word Count: 4.0k words
The house before you was grand, you remembered being shocked at the sight the first time you had seen it. The gate itself look worth more than your car and the house was ten times bigger than the house you grew up in, not even worth to compare to your little apartment that you lived in now (you weren't home often so an apartment was enough).
Snapping out of your trance, you awkwardly pressed the doorbell and waited before flinching as the gate opened.
"Come on in, darling." A female voice spoke sweetly and you bowed your head at the camera before before moving inside to the front door. When it was opened, it revealed an elder lady with a younger boy behind her as he clung to the woman's shirt.
"Miss Lee, lovely to see you. This must be Chan, then?" You leaned a bit to the side, greeting the woman and boy afterwards with a kind smile. While the woman happily greeted you back, the boy was not so quick to do so and chose to hide instead.
"Come on, come in, come in." Miss Lee pulled you inside, letting the door close behind you before guiding you to the living room. You sat opposite of her, watching carefully as Chan moved to his own space. You had to applaud Miss Lee, because she certainly knew what her hybrids needed.
You had known her for a long time, seen her take in multiple hybrids as a foster to get them used to normal life again, and everytime the habitat that the hybrid needed was done exceptionably well. Chan was her fourth rescue, a sea otter that had been taken from his original home when he was five before being rescued when he was sixteen years old. This time she had decorated her home with a giant tank that was placed in the floor by Chan's spot where he could dive in and out whenever he pleased and lots of towels and clothes placed beside so that he could dry himself and change when needed.
"Okay, I just need some basics first. He's nineteen now, right?" You asked and Miss Lee nodded at you, smiling as the younger man laid beside her and wrapped himself around her arm. His ears were hidden in his blond hair and his tail was wrapped around his leg, staring at you intently and twitching everytime you moved.
"Now Chan,-" his ears twitched slightly as he lifted his head in acknowledgement, "-how are you feeling?" You asked and he shrugged slightly, pawing at Miss Lee's sweater as he doubted what to say.
"I get that you're nervous, but you don't need to worry. Everything I do is with your consent. If you don't want to then we don't do it, but you need to work with me." You spoke softly to him, not wanting to make him scared since he was still a bit closed off to anyone except Miss Lee. Nonetheless, he seemed to understand you as he thought about your question.
"My tail hurts." He finally says and you nod, writing it down before grabbing your bag. You pulled out some instruments before turning back to Chan, asking if you could check his vitals. He seemed hesitant before nodding at you, scootching just close enough for you to reach. You smiled at him, taking a stethoscope and raising it to his chest after lower his shirt slightly. When finished, you lowered the stethoscope and took your notebook again to write everything down. Then you raised it again, telling Chan to breath in and hold it before listening again.
"Good heart, very good long capacity. Your reflexes seem good as well when I look at the movement of your ears, so overall okay. Now your tail." You gave another smile as he moved his tail to rest before him and you quickly prodded at the tail with your fingers. Starting at the top and moving down slowly until he reacted, which he did halfway. Uncertain, you pressed it again before flinching when Chan hissed at you with a low growl.
"Can you move it without pain?" You asked, not fazed by the growling and Chan shook his head, moving it slowly to show that it was not functioning fully. You sighed before pulling out something out of your bag once again, which made Chan visibly flinch and you sighed again.
"Look, I need a small blood sample for the lab. The need to check your health and there might be a chance that it involves your tail. If not, it just needs to rest." You said and although he still seemed reluctant, he did held out his arm. You took ahold of his arm, wrapping a tourniquet around his arm before fastening it. Waiting a few seconds, you started to push to view the veins until they were clearly visible. Once the were, you raised the needle and slowly pushed it in. When done, you placed it in a vail and putting it away in the box. After removing the tourniquet, you placed a bandage on the puncture wound before smiling at Chan. He was just staring at his arm, a small pout on his face until you pulled his attention back to you.
"So I need you to not swim for just a few days until the results are in, can you do that?" You asked and he looked shocked, not wanting to agree but also not having a reason to rebut. You looked at Miss Lee, who just gave you a thumbs up with one of her own smiles.
"Well, then. Anything else I should know?" Chan shook his head at you, moving back to lay beside Miss Lee and cuddling up to her. You chuckled before getting up and gathering everything in your bag, looking at the pair on the couch again.
"Alright, no swimming and try to hang out with a few other hybrids. You need to socialize more now and I think you're definitely ready." You gave Chan another smile before bidding goodbye to them and leaving the house.
"Doctor!" Chan's voice was loud, clearly heard through the hall as you heard him race down the hall. It was only your fourth visit to the household, but Chan had opened up to you fully and now showed his goofier and happier side to you. He was clingy and very energetic, something that was definitely normal for otter hybrids and yet Chan somehow rose above that level of energy. Once he came into view, however, you couldn't help but laugh out loud as you saw him.
He was soaked to the bone, his shirt and shorts were clinging to his skin and his hair and fur were dripping water all over the floor. His hand took ahold of yours as he dragged you inside, back to his own spot while you sat on the blanket besides the pool.
"So, you're good I assume." You smiled at him and Chan nodded before sliding in the water and floating on his back while fumbling his fingers. You shook your head at him with a chuckle before starting your usual routine.
"So, did you go to that meeting I told you about?" You asked, talking about a hybrid meeting for foster hybrids, and Chan awkwardly looked away. You sighed as you lifted his shirt to listen to his heart, which sounded like usual. As reflex, he breathed in before breathing out and you nodded again.
"You're fine, just like usual." You said, patting his head before packing up again. Chan looked up, turning around in the water before lifting himself out of the tank so that he could sit beside you.
"Where are you going now?" He asked and you looked up at him before chuckling as you explained that you needed to go back to your practice to help out other hybrids. This seemed to lighten him up and you smiled at him.
"Do you want to join me? I have some kids coming by that might like the company as they wait." You said and you had never seen Chan scramble up to get dried and dressed before rushing to find Miss Lee. When he returned, she was with him and she wore a bright smile.
"Could you take him for a week? I think it would be great for him to come and I'm going to my sister's for the week and she has no pool. I think your practice would be a better place then the dry countryside." Miss Lee asked and you looked at her in surprise before nodding, you didn't mind the company. She thanked you before turning to Chan.
"You'll behave, right?" "I'm an adult." Chan spoke, but he hugged her back nonetheless as she held out her arms to him. You chuckled before watching him run off as he had to collect some clothing and necessities.
"You have a sister?" You turned to Miss Lee and she sighed softly, shaking her head softly.
"The hospital is more correct... If it wasn't for you, then I would've made him stay here with some lame excuse." She explained and you frowned at her, surprised that she lied to Chan like that.
"Are you okay?" "Just old age, dear. My body isn't what it used to be, I'm eighty-nine already." She explained as she patted your hand before walking to the couch. She sat down and turned on the TV, like she hadn't just told you that something was wrong with her health to the point of needing to go to the hospital for a week. Nonetheless, you had trust that it was nothing too bad and that Chan didn't need to worry too much, so you'd stay quiet for her.
"Alright, let's head off then." You told Chan as he returned, watching him hug Miss Lee again before happily following you out. The only thought on your mind was were on earth that Chan was going to sleep for the next week.
Chan looked bewildered as he entered your practice, probably very surprised by how big it was. The waiting room was filled with hybrids, young and old, and nurses were already working actively.
"Doctor, Elaine is already in your office." One of the nurses approached you and you nodded at her, grabbing the clipboard from her hands and quickly reading through the pages. It was usual for her to come by, always to the fact that she tended to get stuff stuck in her gills. You handed the clipboard back to the nurse before walking to your office with Chan in tow. Elaine was sitting in the middle of the room, happily wiggling her legs until she spotted you.
"Heyo, kid! Let's get started, huh?" You asked and she nodded at you before moving her gaze to Chan with confusion as well as interest.
"Right, this is Chan. He's hanging out for a bit." You explained as you grabbed your stuff. Chan had moved on from his spot in the doorway, carefully moving closer to Elaine as he looked at the gills on her neck before jumping softly when Elaine gave him a very sharp toothed smile. She introduced herself, telling him that she was a white shark hybrid before asking what he was, which he happily explained. You didn't bother waiting as you started plucking dirt out of the gills while the two continued to talk, which proved to be handy for not being bitten while you worked.
"Finished!" You exclaimed as you pulled out a small piece of seaweed before taking some salt water from your cabinet before spraying some on her gills to refresh her.
"Now, what are we doing?" You turned to Elaine again, who shyly looked down at her hands. "Stop going down to the sea floor when swimming in the ocean..." She mumbled and you grinned, patting her head before walking to your desk to note everything down. Then you printed it, handing it to Elaine with another small smile.
"Send in Jae-in, okay?" You asked, to which Elaine nodded before rushing out with paper in hand. You smiled at her enthusiasm before turning back to Chan, chuckling at his dumbfounded face.
"Does she not have to pay...?" "Nope. Government pays for their check-up's, I just have to send in how many visits and who every month." You explained as you pulled up Jae-in's files on your computer, checking everything before frowning.
"Chan, get out please." You said and just then Jae-in walked in before freezing at the sight of someone besides you in the room. You quickly got up, standing in front of the small boy to block his view of Chan.
"Focus on me now, sweety." You spoke, pulling him in before motioning to Chan to leave. He did quickly, but you could clearly see that he was confused. You could explain later, right now you needed to focus on the trembling boy in your arms.
Chan awkwardly stood outside in the hall, not really sure what to do. Should he remain here or should he go to the waiting area and talk to some people?
"You want to help out?" A nurse asked and Chan turned before nodding at her, to which she smiled. Then she motioned for him to follow, leading him to a certain room. Inside were kids, most of them around the age of 6 or 7, and tired adult sat in the middle of the room. 6 pairs of twinkling eyes were suddenly aimed at Chan before he was pounced by a very energetic cat type. Chan chuckled as he grabbed the child, holding them in his arms before nodding at the nurses.
"I'll keep an eye on them." With another bright smile, Chan focused on all of the kids that stared at him with curiosity.
"Otter!" One of the kids called out and Chan nodded before sitting in the middle of the room. Some kids moved closer to him, inspecting his features, while others moved back to play on their own. He answered their questions, every single one, and he continued to grin through the pain as the kids pulled at his tail or on his ears.
"Are you also sick?" The bear hybrid sat on his legs asked, looking up with curious eyes as he awaited an answer. Chan shook his head before asking the kid if he was.
"Yes... Doctor says I have a big ball in my head and they're taking it out tomorrow. I can't keep it though." The pout on the child's face almost wanted to make Chan laugh, but the heaviness of that sentence made it impossible to do so. Yet the kid said it without any care, clearly not knowing what he was talking about and how horrible it was for someone his age, or anyone at all, to go through.
"I have one too!" Another kid chimed in before pointing at his abdomen with a smile, to which Chan only felt his heart drop once again as the kid walked closer as well to sit down besides Chan.
"I just have a rash." The chameleon behind Chan said as he showed his scales, the skin around them a little irritated.
"The doctor will help you, don't worry." Chan speaks as he pats the head of the kid on his lap and the lion cub happily purred at the attention. Half an hour later, the cub had gone to the doctor and Chan was left with five of the twelve kids who were all fast asleep. Chan wasn't far behind, laying down in the blankets and cushions with all kids practically on top of him in some way. Out of habit, Chan's fingers started to fidget with the blanket that one of the kids carried with them. He was nervous, he didn't know why. Then again, three of the kids on his lap were all predators and one of them was an orca hybrid. So, rightfully so, Chan was a bit terrified.
"Jin-Young?" Your voice rang out in the room as the little monkey hybrid in his lap shot up with a happy yelp.
"We got results~!" You waved some papers, a bright smile on your face that matched Jin-Young's. Chan perked up as well, looking at the papers with a curious gaze while you kneeled down to see eye-to-eye with the younger boy in front of you. You spoke in a hushed tone, maybe to not alarm others, but Chan guessed it was positive news as the young boy's face lit up like a Christmas tree. In a matter of seconds, the boy went from static to running around the room with loud cheers and followed by him throwing himself around Chan's neck. You watched with a smile, chuckling at the view of the otter being squashed to the ground by all of the kids. He was definitely a good addition to your clinic, you might even offer him a job as caretaker if he wanted too, and then your nurses would have a bit more time on their hands for their work as well as having decent breaks at times. Besides, having nurses chasing around a couple of cheetah hybrids, or trying to at least, was not really something that they should had been doing to begin with, but kids would be kids.
"Doctor, someone's calling you." A nurse handed you your phone, your ringtone loudly blaring through the phone speakers while the screen flashed. You frowned as the unknown number flashed across the screen before picking up. The voice on the other side was clearly a lawyer or something of sort, you recognized the tone fairly quickly at this point, and yet he sounded a bit sad if anything.
"Are you (Y/f/n)?"
This was not planned, this was never the plan to begin with. You couldn't house a hybrid, your appartement was barely big enough to house yourself and that was not even to mention that you didn't have any of the necessary products for them either. Yet now, you had an otter in your house that was greatly confused. You hadn't been able to bring it up yet, how could you? How on earth would you tell someone that their parent figure had just died, while he just thought that she was on vacation. You'd have to tell him that you lied to him, that she had lied to him. You didn't dare to, yet you had to.
The door opened slowly, revealing the depressing hallway of your home. Letters scattered on the ground, jackets hanging everywhere except for the coat hangers and the trash still remained by the laundry room instead of outside. You took ahold of the letters before entering, guiding Chan to the living room while opening the first letter. An expansion of your clinic to a include housing and tropical zones, including a place for you to stay. Great, yet you couldn't be happy about it now.
"Chan, can you sit down for a second?" You asked and Chan quickly followed your request, sitting down before pulling his tail to his chest and anxiously pawing it. You sighed before moving closer and crouching in front of him, which seemed to make him even more anxious.
"Miss Lee went to the hospital today..." You started slowly, watching Chan's reaction closely before continuing your story.
"She was a bit sick and wanted to make sure whether she was okay." This seemed to set off something in Chan as his nails dug further into his tail as he tried to control the shaking of his hands while also trying to ignore the forming tears in his eyes.
"She didn't..." -you paused as you tried to control your own emotions- "She wasn't fully okay due to her age and while getting checked, she had a heart attack. Apparently she had them before without knowing fully, but today was a bit worse. She didn't..." You couldn't finish as you saw Chan's face, one that you couldn't decide on if it was sadness or anger. Maybe it was both. Then it burst, tears rolling down his face as he let go of his tail and didn't even try to hold back the shaking of his body while his hands started scratching at his skin. You took ahold of his hands, trying to force him to stop scratching and ignoring the fact that he was now clawing at you. After a couple of minutes before he was less aggressive, instead sinking down until he practically laid on top of you while crying silently. He didn't let go of you, not for the following hours until he felt asleep and even then you could not move away without him whining. So you laid on the couch, Chan laid on top of you and tightly hugging you while you patted his hair. As the night fell and day returned, you didn't sleep a wink as you tried to calm Chan down from occasional nightmares that woke him up.
Chan felt empty... He couldn't explain it any other way, just empty. He wanted to feel better, rip his heart out and make it happy again. He was allowed to feel, to hide away as he processed everything. You had been kind, staying by his side constantly while also giving him space.
The first day, his emotions were a whirlwind. He felt angry first. At you, at his mother and most importantly at himself. She lied to him and he wasn't there for her in her final moments. He remembered snapping at you as well that day, because you knew everything. You could've told him, but you didn't. Yet when he actually snapped at you, baring his teeth and claws at you, you only gave a sad smile before leaving him alone in his room. He remembered thrashing him room, injuring himself completely as he broke the mirrors. He remembered the panic on your face as you were finally able to enter the room.
The next day was better in that sense. He didn't feel angry anymore, just sad. You had dragged him to your work space, letting him rest in your office. He had settled in your office, hidden away in the corner behind your desk as he tried to ignore all of his senses going off. In the end, all his emotions just made him feel overwhelmed. He was glad that you were patient, making sure that no loud noises startled him.
The third day he gets back to his routine. He starts eating again, his sleeping schedule became decent again and he started talking again. He starts accepting it, moving on like she would've wanted him to. It wasn't something he wanted to be doing, but it was for the best in the end. He didn't really stick in your office anymore, opting to handle the kids for awhile. The nurses were ever so grateful, thanking him and promising him some snacks as lunch that he would gratefully accept. The kids made him feel a bit better, their joy raising his mood and leaving him with a goofy grin on his face for the whole day. By the end of the day, he felt slightly better than before. In the evening, he found himself in the kitchen and helping you cook. Although it was a bit awkward since neither of you knew what to say, Chan liked it nonetheless. It felt normal, unlike all the previous days.
Besides, he wanted to stay with you. He didn't want to move, he wanted to stay here with someone familiar that understood him. He wanted to remain at the hospital, take care of the kids there and annoy them to hell. He wanted to hang out with the nurses and enjoy the attention that they gave him.
Most importantly, he wanted to be with you.
"Well, you're not going anywhere." You spoke, breaking Chan's concentration as he looked up from the vegetable he was cutting. Realizing he said everything allowed made him groan as he tilted his head down, tail wrapping around his legs out of embarrassment. You chuckled at him, putting down your own utensils and making your way to him. Forcing him to let go of the knife in his hand, you turned him to face you and lifting your hands to hold his face. He looked at you with bright eyes and you just smiled at him.
"You're staying right here." You spoke and Chan slowly grew a smile of his own. You giggled before hugging him, wrapping your arms around his neck and resting one of your hands in his hair, softly whispering in his ear.
"Right here with me."

First chapter goes online the 30th September 😊
Endangered - Introduction
Animals were disappearing from the world, many dying to the climate changes or just humans that are hunting and killing them. The solution to this, to many scientists, was to create hybrids. Humans with animal DNA, to preserve the animal traits until there was a solution for the problem of extinction.
Now, years later, hybrids were a norm in society whether they were extinct or not. You could see housecat hybrids on the street, but at the same time you could see a bobcat hybrid or something along those lines. They lived in giant dorms that get paid for by the government, check-ups with the doctors every other month to check for research purposes as well as their health.
Most hybrids chose to live as companions. Some chose to work with elderly people, being by their sides as a companion to listen and talk to. Others preferred to take care of kids, helping out with child care in schools or nurseries or even as doctors. Then there were the ones who just wanted a normal office job like a lawyer or a construction worker, you could find some hybrids in every single job out there.
Now you, you worked as a doctor. You often found yourself checking up on hybrids, testing their blood for unknown sicknesses or viruses, or just checking up on their health. You met all kinds of hybrids, but you mostly worked with special cases.
Those being the endangered species.

Fight for you
Requested by @lachimolala-is-love-and-life Description: Locked away due to the controversy of your birth, you never really expected a normal life. Hell, you lived in a mansion guarded by dragons and yet one of those dragons has captured your attention with ease.
Pairing: Wen Junhui x fem!reader Word Count: 2.2k words
In the kingdom of Lunarian, you had been born as the second princess and the fifth child under the royal name. But due to the fact that your mother had been a concubine and not the queen, you were quickly locked in another mansion away from the castle that your father and half-siblings lived in. Your mother lived with you, but she was bitter and mean. Her usual stance as the king's favorite had quickly fallen to his least favorite when she had given birth to you. You had looked nothing like the king, your hair (h/c) and your eyes (e/c) like your mother, and the usual magic light powers that ran in the family you didn't have.
And thanks to the queen, to make sure you and your mother remained in the mansion, a dragon was stationed outside at all times. They periodically changed and since you were seven, you often found yourself sitting in the garden with the dragon guard that was there that specific day.
The red dragon, Aelius, was around the most and generally one of the largest dragons. As dragon, he stood at the height of 85 meters tall, and his human height was about 2,4 meters tall. He tended to be a bit protective since you were only 8 years old when he met you, almost like a father figure.
Then there was the blue dragon, Kaimana, who was around when the tides were to her advantage. High tides, she was near and low tides she remained in the ocean. She was on the smaller side, more a sea serpent than a dragon in her own opinion. She's the oldest of the dragons and often is teaching you about every little thing she knew.
Lastly, there was the green dragon, Aase. He was the smallest dragon of the bunch, often able to hide in the trees as he watches his surroundings, only standing at the height of 3 meters in dragon form and 1,70 meters as human. He was the youngest and most playful, spending his time chasing you around the garden.
All in all, you never felt lonely in the mansion, even when your mother never wanted to be near you. Most days you were outside, even when it was raining, or in the library. You lived like that until your were 16 years old, when a new dragon was suddenly in your garden. A rather large dragon, scales a mix of gold and black colors and even some silver. He was laying on the ground, curled up under the morning sunlight.
"Who are you?" Your voice is soft, a hint of curiosity hidden in your tone along with a hint of discomfort. The dragon's eyes open and turn to you, a beautiful shade blueish grey with hints of brown. You feel your face heat up slightly as the dragon got up and stalked your way, tail swaying behind itself until it stood right in front of you. Then, in a second, the dragon form was replaced by a human form. A man, his hair a dark brown undercut and blonde on top, his eyes still that same shade of blue and brown, and his skin slightly tanned. Now, you knew that dragons tended to be extremely beautiful and/or handsome creatures, but this man looked ethereal to you. So much so, that you felt your heart skip several beats.
"You're the little princess, right?" He asked, tilting his head slightly as he inspected you. Without waiting for the answer, he started walking slowly around you. You followed him with your eyes, "Yeah... I am, I guess." You answer his question as he stands in front of you again.
"And you are?" You ask again, looking up at him again. He smiles at you, showing off his fangs unintentionally. "I'm Wen Junhui." He bows his head before looking up with a grin. "Pleasure to meet you, princess." He says in a playful tone before straightening his back again. You blinked before curtseying at him.
"I'm (Y/n), pleasure to meet you too. I assume you're here as a new guard?" You ask and Junhui nods, still smiling at you. Before you could ask anything else, you felt a gush of wind that almost knocked you over before you heard a loud thud behind you. Aelius, already in human form, walked closer with a stoic expression like always. His whole demeanor radiated confidence and power, his form towering over you and Junhui. Junhui smiled even brighter before just lunging at Aelius playfully, only to quickly be held in a playful chokehold by Aelius as he ruffled Jun's hair.
"So, Jun is joining the guards here." Aelius explains as he lets go of Junhui, who just smiles again. "He's your age, so consider him a friend." Aelius chuckles and Jun nods. You glance at Jun again, taking note of the small freckles that seemed to appear when the sun hit his face.
The first few days that Jun's around are a bit awkward, getting to know each others interest. Jun, however, was a joy to be around, his joyful demeanor only brightening your days.
Today was no different.
The day had been gloomy, rain pouring down from the sky and drenching the grounds. Jun had been the one on guard that day, so you had invited him inside where it was warm and pleasant. So now, you were sitting by the fireplace in the library, the heat of both the fireplace and Jun keeping you warm as you read a book. Jun laid on the ground in dragon form as you leaned against him, reading a fantasy book as Jun read over your shoulder, his scales warm to your touch. It was calm and peaceful, and you wouldn't trade it for the world.
Jun suddenly let out a huff as he changed into human for and laid his head on your shoulder. "I'm bored..." He pouted as he hugged you from behind. You smile and raise your hand to scratch his hair, which makes him purr softly. You giggle and continue, watching his eyes close as he leans closer to you almost like a cat. Then he moves so he's in front of you, moving to lay his head on your chest as he hugged your waist in content.
"Mhm... I like being your guard. Get to do nothing and get scratches" He purrs out and you can't help but chuckle at his comment. You pet his hair again, to which he sighs happily. The room turns quiet except for the wind outside and the crackling of the fireplace, Jun's purrs turning into soft snores as he falls asleep. Soon enough, you follow yourself as you fall into a peaceful slumber.
The next few weeks, you spend constantly with Jun. Even when he's not on duty, he is around anyway. Telling stories of places he had been, sharing stories of youth or just sunbathing in the gardens. You often found yourself wrapped up in Jun's dragon form by the end of the day, sleeping against the dragon's side as he curled around you protectively.
The other dragons often teased the both of you, whenever they found you and Jun together. While you ignored their comments and rolled your eyes at them, but Jun didn't share that aloofness. He often blushed at their comments, because he knew they were right.
To him, you were so much more than a friend. You were his world, his to protect, his soulmate... Even when he would never tell you that, you meant everything to him and he dreaded that one day he would outlive you. So he spend every second he could around you, possessive and clingy to compensate while hiding his growing feelings for you.
It was when you turned 21 years old that it started to get complicated. Suddenly your father was interested in you again, speaking to for the first time in your whole life. Why? Because a neighboring kingdom wanted an alliance and the eldest princess had been married off already and thus you were the only left option.
It happened almost in a single day, you woke up and were met with your garden filled with about fifty guards and your father. You can see Aelius, Kaimana and Aase standing among the side. They all looked displeased as they look at the guards, clearly tense by the look of their postures and how their wings were spread in a tense way. You awkwardly head downstairs, frowning as you enter the front garden. Your father sees you, scowling softly as he sees you before motioning for some guards to grab you. You stumble back as the guards move to grab your arms, only to yelp when someone lands in front of you. Jun, wings spread in anger as he growls loudly. His teeth are bared, eyes glowing and his hair standing straight up in anger. The guards stumble back before drawing their swords.
You can barely say anything before Jun suddenly grabs you by your waist, then flying up into the air. You yelp, wrapping your arms around his neck and clinging to him as he flied in the air. You landed a few minutes later, far from where the estate was. Jun gently put you down on the ground, checking you for injuries with a worried look.
"Did they hurt you? Or touch you? If they did I-" He speaks fast, making you barely able to follow him. You cut him off, however. "Jun, I'm okay... Really..." You say as you grab his hands. He looks up before sighing, grabbing you back by your waist and hugging you tightly. Slowly, but surely, you hug him back, one hand in his hair to comfort him.
"God... I can't lose you." He mumbles against your shoulder, sighing heavily. You pause slightly at his confession, unsure what the sudden warm feeling in your chest was as he nuzzled his face against your neck. He pulled you even closer, not wanting to let go of you just yet.
When he finally let go, his face was just inches from yours. You feel your face heat up slightly at how close he is. "What do you mean..?" You finally dare to ask, gulping as you await his answer. He looks at you, a soft blush coating his face as he leans back a bit. He mumbles softly, but you can't hear him and asked him to repeat.
"I love you!" He exclaims loudly, eyes screwed shut as his face turns redder. You look at him in shock as he looks down, hiding his face on your shoulder. The warm feeling in your chest grew warmer, your heart beating out of your chest. You gulp, unsure how to react to his sudden confession. You tried to understand the feeling in your body, the warmth in your chest as he held on to you. Then you hug him back again, arms around his neck.
"I think I do too..." You reply and he instantly looks up, his face morphing from shock to pure excitement. His smile is so wide that you can see his fangs clearly, the blond part of his hair glowing up slightly and his eyes practically glowing.
"Really?! You mean it, right?!" He exclaims and the second you nod, his arms move snake around your waist and lifting you up before spinning you around in the air. You yelp, wrapping your arms around his neck before laughing softly as you look down to him. He's still smiling so brightly, nuzzling his nose against yours. He sets you down eventually, the sun already starting to set below the tree line.
"Let's find some shelter..." He mumbles, picking you up once more in his arms and flying back up in the air. He only flies long enough until you reach a cave, which he casually walks inside of. It's clearly a place that he frequented. Furs, blankets and pillows covered the back of the cave and even a fire place that was self made. He puts you down on a makeshift bed, the furs and blankets warm against your skin. Jun lays down beside you, hugging you once again with a soft purr.
From then on, you live in the cave with Jun and he took great care of you. Every now and then, he'd bring you to the edge of the forest so you could go to the village, buying clothes or food and even just to socialize with other people. Otherwise he'd just spend the day with you, showing you beautiful spots he had found. A lake, crystal caves or even just a pretty flower he had found. There was not a day that he didn't tell you how much he loved you, spending nights cuddling with you as he whispered in your ear just how much he loves you.
He doesn't care that he's now technically a fugitive, he'd fight for you any day.

Wrong Room
Previous | Magic or Not Masterlist
Synopsis: Chan wanted to travel like before, get a break, and he happens to meet the love of his life in a small town.
Pairing: Lee Chan x fem!reader
Word Count: 3.2k words
Chan was lonely. Not in a literal sense, but rather a figuratively sense.
His friends had all moved on in their lives, finding their partners and moving on to the next stage of their lives. Hoshi and Fei were soon having their first child, Seokmin and Delia were marrying next week, and Joshua and Aria were getting married during spring time to come. Seungkwan was often not even home, traveling the sea with Ember while Minghao and Kaida had gone off for travels of their own. The rest was still near, but most of the time they were together with their partners or too busy with work.
The times that they hung out in the tavern had gone by, Chan had often found himself there alone on a Friday night as he wallowed in self-pity. He could barely remember the last time they actually hung out together, much less a time where it was just them without their lovers joining in.
It annoyed him slightly, not that he wished for his brothers' unhappiness. Rather, he just wished for his family back in the way they were before. Because now, even when he was surrounded by his friends, he felt alone in every sense. Conversation didn't often include him anymore, most of them about marriage or growing the family, and even when they tried to include him, it was no use.
And thus came his grand idea. He'd just travel for a bit, get to know new people and just relax without stressing about his problems.
So he set off to a neighboring country, packing just essentials and bidding his friends goodbye for the two weeks to come.
"Didn't know fairies boys were so pretty." The man that was following him did not even try to hide his intentions, gaining speed to catch up with Chan. The long strides that Chan took did not help, the man was taller and his steps were in turn much bigger. The man's hand on his shoulder made Chan shiver, trying to pull away from the grip before gasping as he was shoved against a wall. The impact hurt him, especially his wings as he felt a pang of pain throughout his whole back. He would fly if he could, but having just arrived in the two after flying for 6 hours did not grant him that. But even if he could fly away, the heavy rain also didn't grant him that as his wings got soaked. Soaked fairy wings resulted in no use for them, which was promptly one of the reasons that he stopped in this town.
"You could get me a nice price, maybe a thousand." The man took ahold of Chan's face, inspecting it with great care before flinching as Chan tried to bite his hand. A loud thunder was heard, followed by a bright flash that revealed a shadow. Seconds later, the man before Chan was down on the ground with a woman on top of him.
A woman with wings...
Although Chan was scared, the woman made him feel safe for some reason as she got back up.
"You shouldn't walk around with your wings exposed like that." Her voice made the hairs on his arms stand up, shivers shooting up his spine while he tried to ignore the warm feeling of your jacket over his shoulders.
"But yours are..." He pointed at your wings, surprised by the sheer sight of them alone. The were as tall as you and the wingspan had to be at least double that length, brown and black feathers that turned lighter closer to the middle. He also didn't miss the few feathers in your hair, standing up and moving slightly as you raised your eyebrow at him.
"I can actually fight, besides mine aren't worth anything. Just normal wings like any owl." Your voice was slightly raised to be louder than the pouring rain, but Chan could still barely hear you. You exhaled softly before grabbing his hand, dragging him through the streets before stopping in front of a hotel tavern. Entering made Chan sigh in relief, the warmth hitting him and making him forget about the fact that he was drenched from head-to-toe.
"2 chocolates ales please!" You called out to the barkeeper, who smiled and gave you an okay sign before continuing their work. You sat at a small table in the corner, the seats just some pillows and blankets that Chan just wanted to bury himself in. He watched as you pulled and moved the pillows and blankets, settling in between them with a smile before looking up at Chan.
"Go wild, don't worry." You gave him a bright smile and Chan sat down before taking one of the blankets and wrapping it around himself before grabbing some pillows to put around him. Once happy with the lay-out, Chan looked back up to you. You had shifted again, now wearing large round glasses. They looked quite ironic with you being an owl, but he wasn't sure whether that was on purpose or not. The drinks were put on the table and Chan smiled at the woman before flinching when he noticed the fork tongue of the waiter along with bright yellow snake eyes.
"He doesn't bite." You chuckled at Chan's reaction and the waiter hisses in a teasing tone, but Chan couldn't help but smile brightly.
"This is a magical tavern?" "Duh, you'd think I'd bring you to a normal one?" You gave a soft scoff before pulling out some money and tossing it to the waiter with a smile, who returned it with a grin that showed of his fangs. With a smile, Chan let go of the blanket before stretching his wings slightly while ignoring the painful stretch. He was confused when he watched your eyes widen, his wings weren't that special looking compared to other fairies (more specifically water fairies, who's wings were usually unique to themselves).
"Your wing is torn." You jumped up as you rushed to his side, your hands gently touching his wing and inspecting the tear. It was at the top of his right wing, about a finger deep into his wing. Chan hissed when your hand touched the tear, head snapping around to stare at his wing in shock.
"Don't move." You patted his shoulder before walking to the bar, talking to the bartender before going behind the bar. Chan didn't pay much more attention to you, rather he stared at his wing. Wing tears were a bit difficult to treat, often they remained as a scar and could lead to hardship with flying as well as phantom pains. He hadn't even noticed when he got hurt, but he was sure that it was around the time that he met you.
"Ah, that's cold!" He yelped loudly when he suddenly felt your hands on his wing again, well aware of the bandages that you were now applying to the tear. His wings started to feel heavy, so he gently started to lower it, not that you seemed to mind as you continued your work. Only when the wing was completely wrapped did you back off, staring at your work before looking at Chan.
"Did you not feel that?" You asked and Chan shook his head, trying to get out of his trance as he took a sip from his drink. His eyes widened at the sweetness of the drink, a smile following as he took another sip while he seemingly started to glow.
"You're certainly a fairy." You chuckled as you took your place opposite of him again, taking a sip of your own drink as well. Neither of you said much more and Chan decided to sleep after finishing his drink. It had been a busy day, but he was glad that he met you in all the chaos.
"Okay, get over here!" Kaiser was excited and it was honestly making Chan smile brightly, even when he was just crying his eyes out. Your wings was still protectively around him, but it was less than before when you noticed that Chan had calmed down a bit. It had only been two weeks or so that he had arrived in the town, but he was easy to befriend. This, of course, meant that all your friends quickly latched onto him as well. Kaiser being one, the snake man didn't usually befriend others so Chan did indeed create some miracle, and he had basically adopted Chan as his little brother.
Chan stepped out of your range and into Kaiser's spread arms, accepting the hug with a grin before stepping away again, continuing down the road with a happier spring in his step.
"He changes emotions quick." Kaiser spoke and you harshly nudged him in the ribs, making the snake double over and give you a glare.
"He misses his family, you can't blame him for that. You were a mess when your family took a month vacation away from here." "They left without telling me!" Kaiser screamed back and you chuckled at him before nodding, patting his back before raising yourself up in the sky with a wink thrown his way. With a flap of your wings, you raced towards Chan before lifting him up in the air with ease. He yelped, but ignored it when he noticed that it was you. You flew up, making sure that you held onto Chan tightly as he still could not fly. Within a few minutes, you were at the fields and Chan's smile could not be brighter at this point. As you set him down, he was quick to place himself between the flowers as he let nature surrounded him. The flowers around him seemed to move closer to him, almost like they were hugging him. If your didn't know any better, you would assume that Chan was the sun that the flowers sought for.
"Are you not going to lay down?" Chan lifted his head, looking at you with a frown and you chuckled before walking closer to him. You crouched down before placing your hands next to his head and leaning your body above him.
"I can't see the sun..." He sputtered, probably out of embarrassment as you watched the tips of his ears go red. You did give up though.
"Really? I can see it right in front of me though." You gave him a smile before laughing softly as you watched him go completely red. You moved away, opting to lay beside him instead as you placed your head on his arm and folded your wings to lay next to you. Chan looked at you as you closed your eyes, staring at you in pure awe. Your eyes were closed, your face relaxed as you basked in the sunlight while your wings softly twitched with every slight movement from the grass below you. He couldn't really stop staring, unaware of the reason for this as he turned on his side. He fell asleep seconds later, unaware that you were now staring at him.
"You just left-" You were quick to shush Kaiser, pointing at the snoring fairy beside you. He paused before laying down beside you as well, smiling softly at Chan.
"He looks peaceful for once, huh?" "Oh, shut it and go to sleep."
It had been a month into Chan's vacation, but not a single letter was sent and Jeonghan couldn't help but be worried. Now, he knew that Chan could take care of himself and all, but he was still worried nonetheless. He wasn't alone, the whole group shared the same thoughts. They had never gone so long without even seeing him, it was unusual to not hear anything from the fairy.
"He's fine, hyung. He's probably just enjoying his vacation!" Seokmin commented with a reassuring smile, but he looked unsure of his own comment. Soonyoung was quick to agree with Seokmin, but he too looked unsure. The doors slammed open right then, revealing Amber with an angry person following.
"She was searching for you guys." Ember stated before removing herself from the awkward atmosphere, walking out and shutting the door again after sending a kiss to Seungkwan. The men all stared at the winged woman before Seokmin asked who she was.
"Chan's friend." With crossed arms, she glared at them and all 12 of them could all feel shivers run down their spines. She had an aura that basically made all of them want to sink through the floor, but they were curious as well since she mentioned Chan. The first one to move again was Soonyoung, eyes set firmly on the winged woman before him as he gingerly approached.
"Is Chan okay? We haven't heard from him in a long time... Is he here as well?" He was persistent, almost desperate as he tried to figure out whether Chan was here or not. The others were keeping an eye on the woman, hoping that her expression would break and reveal any kind of clue and yet she didn't.
"So now you care, huh?" "Of course we do, don't insult us." This time Jihoon spoke up, getting pissed off by the attitude of the woman and yet he still remained uncomfortable as her gaze shifted to him.
"Yet you can't answer his letters? Some friends you are." The scoff felt insulting to all of them, but it was promptly ignored at the mention of letters. Sensing the confusion, she frowned and crossed her arms.
"You have seen his letters, no?" "We have not... None arrived, not that we know of." Seungcheol spoke before turning his head, calling for Hazel and asking her about any letters.
"Letter sorting is the butler's job, but I can ask for him to come by. Chances are that he might have misplaced it." Hazel spoke and Seungcheol nodded, waving his hand as a thanks before focusing back on the woman before him.
"Is he here?" "Yeah, yeah. I'll get him." She spoke as she turned to leave, letting the others remain in their rooms while they tried to figure out what happened.
"Chan!" Calling out to the fairy, you tried to find him in the courtyard to no avail. Another thing you had discovered about Chan, he was an excellent hider when he wanted to be. Luckily, he was not feeling like a little mischievous fairy this time as he approached again before hugging you from behind.
"What did they say?" His voice was quiet and it was a slightly hoarse, but you paid no mind as you turned around in his grip. His head moved to rest on your chest, arms lazily around your waist as he stared at your face for any reaction. You sighed, hands moving to pet his head before speaking again.
"Apparently they didn't see any letters pass by, they're investigating it." You spoke and it seemed to make him perk up, wings moving up to straighten behind him and twinkling slightly. He smiled, clearly happy that the radio silence had been a mere accident and not intentional to remove him from the family he so loved. Hearing a shout of his name, your wings instinctually wrapped around his form before loosening when Chan turned to face the crowd. The first to hug him was the brown haired man that had spoken to you earlier, wrapping himself fully around the fairy. You stepped back, letting the younger meet all of his family in peace.
Then you felt all eyes suddenly on you while Chan had gone bright red.
"Whatever you're thinking, don't." You spoke and Chan let out a soft laugh before pulling you beside him, introducing you quickly as he tried to contain his embarrassment from previous teasing. With a smile to Chan, you wrapped your wing around him again which was quickly met with Chan's hands as he petted the feathers like usual.
"So, what happened to the letters?" You turned back to the king before you with a questioning look and he sighed softly before explaining that the letters had been placed in a wrong pile of letters, which was a pile of none important letters that he would only read when he had time to do so.
"So, you're staying for dinner right? We want to hear all about Chan's adventures from outside perspective." Jeonghan, you assumed it was Jeonghan based on what Chan had told you about him, asked and you shrugged at him. You didn't see why not.
"What are we eating then?"
It was late at night, yet you were still outside on the roof as you stared at the sky. You didn't realize how close Chan was with his friends until now, but it was much different than your relationship to him. Although it wasn't any problem to you, it did make you wonder. Would you and Chan ever be so close or would you remain casual friends that met on a journey? Deep in your heart, you wished for the first to be true and yet something in your heart told you that the second one was the truth. It gnawed at your brain, making you anxious for something that probably didn't matter so much.
"What's going on in your head?" Chan's voice pulled you out of your thoughts, the fairy hanging upside down before you with his face in front of yours. He was smiling, but that smile dropped when he noticed your serious gaze. He lowered and turned himself, sitting beside you and shuffling closer to you until he was sat under your wing. The silence was a bit awkward, but comforting at the same time as you leaned your head on his shoulder with a soft sigh.
"Just thinking..." You mumbled and Chan looked at you with slight confusion. He wanted to ask what you were thinking about, but he decided not to as he noticed how down you were. Instead, he just stared at you. You were illuminated by the moon and starlight, your features shinning much brighter than before and making you look even more ethereal to Chan.
"Am I that beautiful?" You joked as you noticed his gaze, not expecting him to actually answer with a yes. Cue for you to blush as you awkwardly lifted your head from his shoulder, to which he just pulled you back while hugging you.
"What, you can flirt but I can't?" He asked and you looked up before getting up, grabbing his hand and pulling him up before flying into your room while dragging him behind. You dragged him to your bed, laying down and pulling him on top of you. He was flustered by the sudden action, but cuddled closer to you nonetheless.
"I like you, so please don't leave." He said and you looked up again before kissing his forehead softly, moving your head to the crook of his neck.
"I won't leave, don't worry." You smiled softly as you noticed his wings twitch at the confession, lifting his head and kissing his nose before placing another kiss on his cheek. The red blush on his cheeks was adorable, but him hiding his face was even cuter.
"That's not fair." He mumbled and you let out a laugh before flinching as you felt something move beside you. You turned your head, dropping your wing low enough to see what it was and you were met with a pink haired Jihoon, who was clearly not happy.
"It's cute that you're in love and all, but wrong room." And with a loud laugh, both of you rushed out of the window to your actual room next door.

I'd like to hang out
Previous | Magic or Not Masterlist | Next
Synopsis: Vernon is often seen as a cold and uninterested person, but he is quite the opposite. His help often goes unnoticed, but to you it means the world. You make sure he knows how important he is to you.
Pairing: Chwe Vernon x fem!reader Word Count: 3.6k words Warnings: fighting, injuries (that lead to reader being handicapped)
"Run!" You loudly yelled out to your siblings, trying to not breath in the smoke as you grabbed your younger brother and ran out of the house. Quickly counting the heads, you were glad that everyone escaped the raging fire. You pushed your siblings away and to the exit of the forest, not wanting them to stay near the fire any longer and risk their safety.
"Get them!" The loud shouts from behind you made you growl softly under your breath, turning your head to see a couple of villagers with torches. You turned back to your younger sister, handing her the three year old in your arms before turning back to the villagers. You allowed yourself to let go, feeling the bones crack and change until you stood half your height and on four legs. Your body ached, like it did every time you changed to your wolf form. Letting out a low growl, you lowered yourself on your front feet so you were ready to attack the villagers decided to get any closer. They didn't take the warning, getting closer with their weapons raised. With another loud growl, you lunged forward and sunk your teeth into the first person before chucking them to the side. You backed up slightly before growling once more at the rest. They seemed more hesitant, but the smirks on their faces made you stop slightly in confusion. A sharp pain in your side made you howl in pain before turning your head around, grabbing onto the person's arm and biting down hard enough to break the bones. The loud crack was followed by a scream while blood poured from the wound, dripping down and painting your fur red.
Unfortunately, this gave the opportunity for the others to attack you. You had no chance to retaliate, only able to grunt and howl in pain as swords started to stab and slash into your skin. Your vision started turning darker, your brain was forcing you to go to sleep and yet you remained awake enough to notice the confused shouts.
"Are you okay?" A gentle voice spoke to you as you felt a hand rest on your head, gently petting you to relax you slightly. You whined, the pain finally starting now that your adrenaline had disappeared and the person by you hushed you softly.
"Get Joshua!" Another voice was louder than the one beside you, but it was also the last thing you heard.
Vernon watched as Joshua arrived, kneeling beside him and gently putting his hand on the wolf before them. Magic flew out, embracing the wolf and Vernon's body relaxed as reflex. The wolf had long past out, only the slow heartbeat and soft huffs indicated that it was alive.
"Let me go!" A loud voice screamed and Vernon turned his head to see the guards holding back two children, both under the age of ten. Tears were streaming down their faces as they tried to escape the grip of the guards while biting and scratching. Vernon waved his hand to the guard, indicating that they should let go of the kids. They were quick to scramble closer, kneeling next to Vernon before hugging the wolf. Their yellow eyes were filled with tears, dripping down their faces and into the fur as the whined softly.
"Your sister will be fine, she is healed." Joshua spoke, making the little ones perk up and look at him with big eyes before they lunged at Joshua to hug him. He embraced them with ease, petting their heads before letting them rush off again to tell the news to the others. Vernon sighed softly before moving his hand, which was still placed on the wolf's head. Then he watched as it was lifted in the cart, all the kids crowding around again and laying down as well. Vernon watched in awe as some of the kids changed before his eyes, suddenly being wolves as they curled up beside the bigger wolf.
"Right, you've never seen lycans." Joshua laughed as he patted Vernon's back, moving past him and mounting his horse.
"Lycans? You mean werewolves?" Vernon followed Joshua's movements, mounting his own horse before turning back to Joshua and riding beside him as everyone set off. Joshua was quick to shake his head, a small smile on his face as he walked up behind the cart full of children (or apparently lycans).
"Big difference, lycans are born the way they are. Not bitten or anything, but just able to change into wolves. Mostly whenever they wish, unlike the full moon thing for werewolves." Joshua explained it swiftly and Vernon nodded, looking back at the people before him. Some remained in human form, others were curled up in wolf form. The scene made Vernon's heart ache, because he couldn't imagen why people wanted to harm this family in any way. Then again, he was a bit biased as he had a ton of magic friends. Others didn't often share that view, especially the villages near the border.
He just hoped it would calm down now that the knights were stationed everywhere, he didn't feel like traveling for hours again.
The sunlight was blinding, reflecting off of the white walls that confined you. Your ears were ringing and your body was begging you to change, but you paused that thought as you noticed someone at the doorway. Two women, more specifically. Both were dressed in modest white robes, one of them more elderly than the other one. They looked startled as they noticed that you had awoken, one running off while the elder woman moved closer to you.
"If the lady could change, I can help you dress in some other clothes while we await the doctor." She spoke in a gentle but stern voice and you had a feeling that she was not just a maid or nurse. With a sigh, you let yourself go again as your bones started to crack and move. It didn't take long for you to change, all the bandages fell off as you shrank in size. The cold breeze made the hair on your arms stand up as you tried to cover your naked body, but the woman paid no mind as she threw a blanket over your form. She pulled a simple nightgown from out of the closet, helping you put it on before sighing softly as you were still on the ground.
"The lady can move to the bed." She states and you nodded, pushing yourself up before frowning. Your legs did not move in the slightest, no matter how much you tried or willed it. You pinched your skin, hard enough to cause bruises and yet you felt nothing. It seemed surreal, so much so that you couldn't help but bring out your claws and dug them into your skin. Blood poured from the puncture wounds, yet you didn't feel a single thing.
"Miss!" A male voice called out to you and you looked up, seeing a doctor along with two guards staring at you in shock. The doctor came closer, pulling your hand away from your leg before moving to inspect the wound. You felt numb as you were examined, even when you were lifted by the guards and placed in a wheelchair. The thoughts racing through your head were muted by the second voice that screamed at you, crying and wailing. You were paralyzed from the waist down, you couldn't walk or run...
You had lost your freedom, trapped and confined to the chair you now sat in. There was no way for you return to the comfort of the forest, no running alongside your kind in between the trees. The soft moss underneath your feet and the smell of wood around, all would be gone from your life. You were doomed, a wolf that could not run was a wolf deemed to die...
"I'm afraid that your legs will not recover, we were unable to heal you in time due to the long journey." The doctor spoke and you looked up to see his face, his eyes filled with pity. When you looked at everyone else, their gaze was the same. You hated it, but you couldn't say anything to them.
"Where is my family?" You opted to ask about your siblings instead of your own health, they were more important to you anyway. A guard stepped forward, explaining that they were in a room on the first floor. So you took ahold of the wheels on your chair, pushing yourself forward. You thanked the man who opened the door for you, rolling out into the hallway and to the stairways. You paused, knowing full well that you were not able too get down without any kind of help and yet you couldn't find it in yourself to ask anyone. You were close to just throwing yourself and your wheelchair off of the stairs, but you were able to stop yourself. Instead, you looked around for any other way to go downstairs and your soon enough you spotted a few men. One of them noticed you quickly, a smile growing on his face before disappearing just as quickly.
"I thought I healed you?" He asked, just as confused about the situation as you were. His eyes did a double take to your legs before he kneeled before you and lowered his head, almost like he was ashamed. You sighed softly, glancing at the other men before looking back at the stairs.
"Can anyone help me?" You asked, looking back at them with a questioning look. One stepped up immediatley, moving his arms to hook underneath your legs and shoulders before lifting you up. You yelped softly at the unexpected movement, moving your arms to wrap around his shoulders. He was dressed in simple clothes, brown pants and a looses shirt. His blond hair was parted to reveal his face, his eyes focused on the stairs as he carried you down.
"Thank you..." You were quiet when thanking him, eyes cast downwards as you waited for him to set you back down in your wheelchair, which had already been brought down by the man who had kneeled in front of you.
"Don't worry about it." The man gave you a smile as he gently put you down, moving your dress slightly to not be caught in the wheels before bowing at you a full 90 degrees. You bowed your head at him as well before pushing yourself away from him, following the distant smell and sounds of your family. The door was easier to open this time, revealing a large room that was filled with pups. Their eyes immediatley found you, running your way and pouncing on your lap with low whines. your arms were quick to move, embracing the young ones and making sure that they didn't fall off of your lap.
"Why are you in a wheelchair?" One of your younger siblings asked, yellow eyes staring at you with curiosity as he touched the wheels. The question was simple, but you hesitation made all eyes turn to you once again. Words didn't need to be spoken, you could see the realization in their eyes.
"Sir Joshua!" The youngest girl called out loudly, running past you and clinging herself to the man's leg. "You have to fix her! She still has to play with us!" Her words made your heart tighten slightly, her unawareness of the situation made you want to keep her from the truth. Alas, Joshua's gaze said even enough for the youngest to understand.
"I wish I was able to do something-" "Please don't." You interrupted him quickly, turning around while letting the kids run back into the room to play. You sighed softly before moving out of the room, waiting for Joshua to follow and close the door.
"You're the reason that I'm alive, so don't bother with my legs. At least now, I can still care for them." "But you're a wolf..." Joshua's voice was quiet, filled with some kind of guilt and regret. You shook your head, replying with a simple 'not anymore'. You'd have to live as a human from now one, whether you wanted or not.
"I promise you and your siblings will be taken care of. You have my word." Joshua bowed his head at you once more before walking off, leaving you be on your own.
For now you'd just hope for the best, maybe a miracle would soon appear.
"We should've been there before it happened! Villagers are attacking them, no matter what we say. There should be consequences for them to understand." What Jeonghan said was not unreasonable, if anything it was logical, and yet it only gained him some subtle glares from nobles. It was ridiculous to Vernon that they were even having this conversation, but he could not protest in any way. Instead, he had to stand guard, listen to them argue about things that should be normal human decency.
"So what if a few werewolves-" "They're lycans." Wonwoo interrupted from his seat, barely looking up from the papers before him and not even pausing his writing.
"Yes, lycans... Who cares if they got hurt? We need to focus on the matter at hand-" The noble was interrupted by a loud clang, sounding through the room and rending it silent. All eyes turned to Vernon, who had his jaw clenched as he stared at his fallen sword.
"Vernon?" Seungcheol spoke first, allowing Vernon to pick up his sword before frowning as he noticed Vernon's gaze. With a subtle glance at his Jeonghan, Seungcheol then asked Vernon to speak.
"I don't think lives should be overlooked, especially not because of their status or origin. Doing so, you're actively going against the discrimination law that the king created. Doing so, you are disrespecting the king." The way that Vernon spoke would often sound unbothered, but his friends could hear the underlying tone that revealed his true intentions. The venomous tone also didn't go unnoticed to them, which only made them hide their growing smirks while the nobles remained confused by his statement. But even when his anger was clear, his face remained neutral like usual when he guarded.
With another low sigh, Vernon stood back in his place and stood still. He'd get his anger out on a later moment, preferably against one of the puppets in the training yards.
"For now, we'll send patrols to outer towns to keep an eye on everything. We can look into it more on a later time." Seungcheol spoke, his tone clearly indicating that he had enough of this meeting. The nobles started to exit one by one, leaving the room in an awkward silence as everyone turned to Vernon again.
"You can drop the act." Joshua spoke first, which made Vernon relax instantly as he dropped the façade. His face morphed into an expression of annoyance, his spear falling to the ground once again as he groaned loudly.
"Just once, I wish I could." He didn't finish his statement, just clenching his hands with a loud sigh. Instead, he just let out a loud sigh before picking his stuff up again.
"I'm going to train..." With another sigh, he bowed his head before exiting the room and heading off to the training grounds. He paid no attention to the nobles as he passed them, which only earned him some scoffs in return with comments about his attitude. When he arrived at the training grounds, he quickly shed his armor before picking up one of the swords. His eyes moved around to search for an opponent, but when he found no one he opted for the dummies instead. However, it quickly became boring and he sighed loudly as he threw the sword to the ground.
"Mister knight!" A loud voice boomed through the grounds, two or three children running his way with bright smiles. Vernon recognized them quickly, kneeling to greet the kids while picking up his sword so that they couldn't get hurt. When he looked past them, he noticed you along with the rest of your family and he couldn't help but feel guilt rise up again.
"Can we fight too?" One of the kids before him asked, making Vernon look down again before smiling softly at them.
"You can, but you're a bit young, no? Most kids only start at age 12." Vernon explained and he could only laugh as he saw the pouts on their faces.
"Let's not bother him too much, huh. I'm sure he's trying to train." You came closer and picking the youngest one up before looking at Vernon. He looked up at you, surprised by the way his heart skips as you give him a bright smile.
"I don't mind, no worries." As soon as those words left his mouth, all of the kids smiled once again and surrounded him again. Questions were thrown at him from left and right, but Vernon took the time to answer every single one with care. It left you astound, no knights from your town had ever come near you or your family, let alone talk to you. Yet a royal knight, or you assumed he was one anyway, was talking to the pups with no problem or any kind of sign of discomfort.
"Can't you help (Y/n)?" The question posed by your brother made you freeze, watching Vernon for his reaction. He was looking your way as well, but his expression was one that would normally be perceived as pity and yet you could tell that it wasn't that. Rather, it reminded you of guilt.
"I can't do more then Joshua." He spoke softly, watching as everyone around him turned gloomy. He turned to you before bowing his head slightly, whether he was apologizing or looking at the ground was unknown to you.
"I should've been there sooner, I apologize." "For what? You weren't the one that sent a mob of people after me." You spoke back, rolling closer (with a bit more difficulty than you expected) before patting his head, realizing later on that doing so was not really a normal for humans. Yet, he only gave you a small smile before he got up. He bid you goodbye before he set off again, marching his way to the town.
He needed to do something important.
"They seem to be having fun." Seungcheol approached you as you laid on the ground in wolf form, wheelchair pushed against one of the pillars and out of the way. He stood beside you as he watched your siblings, a bright smile on his face as he did. They were running around in wolf form, playing and jumping around the field and practically ruining the flower patches. Seungcheol didn't care much, watching them was kind of relaxing in a way. Then again, maybe it was for his own wish for kids... You huffed in response, too lazy to lift your head from the ground. Instead of saying anything else, Seungcheol sat down beside you before sighing softly.
"I heard that you want to go back to your hometown." He spoke and you looked up this time before shaking your head at him, huffing loudly again.
"No? Oh, right! I forgot something. Vernon made something for you." Seungcheol spoke again and you looked up before following Seungcheol's gaze.
"He wasn't sure to give it, he was afraid you'd get mad." Seungcheol said again and you took another glance at him before looking back at the gift. It was a wheelchair, one where your back legs would be propped up while you could still walk with your front legs. Your ears perked up, which prompted Seungcheol to get up and move it closer to you before awkwardly looking at you. With a nod, he helped you by lifting your backside in the chair. With careful steps, you tried to get a grip on how it worked. Surprisingly, you felt like you were just walking, barely any weight from the wheels or structure and no bumping from the ground.
"It has a magic infused, it won't break or bother you." Seungcheol said and you looked up at him again, barking softly before running off in the field. Turning was no problem, even short and abrupt turns didn't make you fall in the slightest, and you could only gleam in joy.
You could actually run again, be free from the stupid chair that had bound you to stay in place.
You stopped in your tracks when you felt a familiar scent, head moving to where the smell came from and spotting Vernon. You didn't think as you sprinted to him, changing when close enough to him and throwing yourself to hug him tightly. You might have forgotten about your lack of clothes...
"As creepy as this sounds, please don't let go of me..." Vernon spoke and you frowned, pulling your head back with a frown.
"I can't, I'll crash to the ground." You snapped back, trying to make some kind of joke and yet it only made Vernon go red from embarrassment. Seungcheol stepped in and threw his jacket over you before helping you sit down back into the wolf-wheelchair. It was then that you realized that this was a chair for both of your forms, which only made you more happy with the gift. Wrapping the coat around yourself, you turned back to Vernon and smiling brightly at him.
"Thank you, really." You spoke and Vernon nodded his head at you again before rushing off, still red from embarrassment. However, you were quick to rush after him while making sure to not lose the cloak around your form.
"Sir Vernon!" You called after him, making him pause before waiting for you to catch up. When you did, he gulped before telling you to wait for just a second. When he returned, he held an oversized shirt and a skirt before handing them to you. With another smile, you pulled them on and folded Seungcheol's coat on your lap.
"Seungcheol can watch the kids, I'd like to hang out a bit."

Synopsis: Seungkwan had always dreamed of finding his one true love, his soulmate. Yet when he meets the one first, he doesn't know whether he should be happy. That soon changes when he offers to help you, which gives him a chance to confess.
Pairing: Boo Seungkwan x fem!reader Word Count: 4.5k words
"Seungkwan-ah!" Seungkwan's mother called loudly, swimming to her son with the brightest smile and open arm. Seungkwan didn't often go far back into the ocean, he preferred the beach to the open sea while his family preferred the sea. So they parted ways, but Seungkwan would visit them every two weeks as per their agreement. So Seungkwan embraced his mother before squeaking when his sisters joined the hug and basically squeezed the life out of him.
"Come on, we should hide deeper down." His elder sister spoke, guiding Seungkwan down into the reef. Seungkwan frowned, but followed as he stared up at the surface. It was only then that he noticed the boat floating above him, anchor thrown into the sea floor to keep the boat steady. An angry stare replaced the previous frown as he tried to figure out why a ship would settle here. His mother seemed to guess his train of thoughts as she grabbed his ear and pulled him back, deeper into the reefs. Seungkwan pouted, but didn't protest anymore as he followed them home while trying to push back the thoughts of the ship.
The men on your deck were all happy, loud shattering as food was passed around with joyous laughter. You just remained above it all, happily swinging your feet of the ledge as you looked over the far sea. The wind that blew through your hair, the cold breeze cooling your body down from the blazing sun. You felt lucky today, unlike other days, and you were actually looking forward to continuing your journey. That is, if you were able to fix the sails of course. Your crew worked on that, just not right now.
"Captain?" Your first mate walked up to you, a second glass in hand that he quickly handed to you. You turned your head and grabbed the mug with a smile of your own, quick to throw the liquor back with a content sigh.
"How's the repairs?" "Going swiftly, captain. We should be able to set sail in a day or two." He spoke quick, not bothering to tell you the details since he knew well enough that it didn't interest you in the slightest.
"How about rations?" You turned to the sea again, staring out over the calm tides. It reminded you of why you became a pirate. The sea had always called you, something about the mysteries waters was so fascinating to you. Along with that, stealing from the rich was rather fun to you and the adventure was thrilling. So why not be a pirate?
"Captain?" Your first mate spoke again, but this time with a more worried voice than before. You raised an eyebrow at him, turning around again and pulling up one of your legs.
"The crew is a bit worried about our destination... It is rumored to be swarmed with sirens." You scoffed at the concern, knowing full well that it was not a necessary concern. Although sirens were vicious and often dragged people to the bottom of the sea, they didn't have to be feared as they only approached when threatened.
"Besides, we're already in the area since yesterday. Sirens are probably swimming right under us as we speak." You smirked at him before tilting your head to the sea, where you could see the shimmering of scales. In seconds, the man beside you grew anxious as he stared into the sea and you almost wanted to scoff again.
"Now instead of worrying, why don't we ask our cook to prepare a feast?"
Seungkwan liked watching the stars late into the night, preferably from above the water. So tonight, he swam to the surface and laid himself on some stones. He stared at the night sky, wondering how his friends were doing today. The necklace on his neck suddenly felt heavier, all the little trinkets reminded him of his friends. Even though he was barely gone for a day, he always missed his friends immediatley after leaving. With a loud sigh, Seungkwan let go of the necklace and instead turned his head softly to the side, avoiding the water that crashed against the rocks and in turn on him. Blinking a few times, he set his sight on the boat in the distance. Then his eyes widened as he saw someone staring straight at him, their eyes just as wide in shock as his. Then a pain shot through his body and right then and there, Seungkwan realized what had happened.
"I'm meant for a pirate, of all things?!" He couldn't help but groan in annoyance before diving back into the water, not wanting to wait for the reaction of his other half. It was almost ridiculous, Seungkwan couldn't believe that fate had played such a trick on him. He wasn't picky, anyone would've been nice, but a pirate? The people who were responsible of the deaths of so many mermaids and sirens and Seungkwan had to be fated for one.
He didn't say anything to others, he hid the fact that his heart ached when he watched the ship sail off into a distance. No one needed to know, it had no use to tell them.
In truth, it was all very obvious to others. They could easily notice that he suddenly grew more quiet than before and how he hid himself away in his room for long periods of time. In the days with his family and when he returned back to the castle, everyone could notice that something was off about the younger. Yet no one dared to ask, except for Vernon of course. He was the only one who dared to, annoying Seungkwan until he said something.
"I'm fated for a pirate." He finally confessed during dinner, which made everyone stop eating and stare at him. It grew quiet and Seungkwan wanted the sink through the floor right then and there.
"Wait, you did that zing thingy with a pirate?" Soonyoung laughed loudly, falling back in his chair as he laughed while the others just chuckled at the sour expression on Seungkwan's face as he yelled out that it wasn't a zingy thing. He then proceeded to kick his feet towards Soonyoung chair, making it fall over and taking the elder man down with it to the ground. Soonyoung did not stop laughing, if anything his laughs just grew louder by the second.
"A pirate, huh. Was he at least handsome?" Jeonghan asked with a reassuring smile and Seungkwan shook his head quickly, to which Jeonghan frowned.
"Is he that ugly?" "No! She's beautiful!" Seungkwan answered and this made Seungcheol pay attention to the conversation suddenly as he halted his writing. The others looked confused as well, the existence of a female pirate wasn't often heard.
"Wait, a female pirate? Was she the captain?" Seungcheol asked and Seungkwan shrugged, he didn't know how to see if someone was important on the ship. After asking why, Seungcheol quickly explained that a pirate ship with a female captain had set foot on the ports of the kingdom. This time Seokmin was quick to step up with a smile.
"Let's go see then!" Then Seungkwan was pulled out of his seat by Seokmin before being slung over Soonyoung's shoulder. He let out a scream, trying to get back to the ground. It didn't have much use, not even when he bit down on his arm. So Seungkwan waited until he came by the fountains outside, reaching his hand out to the water beam in hopes to reach it. The weather was on his side, blowing the water his way and hitting his hand and Seungkwan smirked as he felt his legs change. Soonyoung yelled loudly as he felt the sudden added weight of Seungkwan's tail, crashing to the ground on his knees.
"Not fair! Turn back!" Soonyoung whined loudly as he tried to stand back up, unsuccessful of course, and Seungkwan wanted to smirk. Something paused it though, a spike through his heart that made him look up quickly.
Through the water, Seungkwan saw you and you were staring straight back at him in shock. Seungkwan's heart started beating faster, hitting his ribcage in a painful manner that made Seungkwan want to run your way and embrace you.
It was the first time that Seungkwan saw you properly and he was in awe. You wore clothes that somehow fit both the weather but also the fact that you were a pirate. Your jacket was the typical ankle length pirate coat, sleeves seemingly ripped off and revealing your muscled arms that were littered with scars. The jacket hung open, revealing that you wore a tight fitting crop top and Seungkwan couldn't help but stare at your stomach, abs on full display for anyone to see. Your pants didn't leave much to the imagination either, the belts that looped around your thighs to hold your gun and knives were also a bit tight. The hat on your head was slightly tilted and revealed your hair, which was hanging loose with small braids throughout it. Seungkwan could help but stare at you, albeit a bit creepy. Then you spoke up, your voice sounding almost angelic compared to your appearance.
"Where's the king's office?"
You didn't really expect the sight before you in any way. Seeing a mermaid or siren was a rare occurrence to begin with, but seeing one in the royal palace was even a rarer chance. And yet before you was a kneeled man with a siren hung over his shoulder, who was staring at you intensely. The man was attractive, soft features that pulled you into a falls sense of trust. His eyes seemingly changed between pink shades and his scales were a million colors at once thanks to the sunlight shinning down. His dark blue hair framed his face nicely and you couldn't help but be reminded of the dark waves of the far away ocean. Your heart beat quickened for just a second and you blinked before shaking your head. This wasn't why you were here, you should focus on the task at hand. So you left, unaware if the siren that stared at you in shock and sadness as if he had been harshly rejected to his face.
Instead you just roamed the hall, ignoring all the whispers from the people around you. You knew the reasons, one being your outfit and the second being your stumbling walk due to your long journey on the sea. You didn't really care, you continued to move until you noticed a door that was being guarded by around three or four guards. You marched closer, ignoring the shouts from the guards as you pushed through and walked inside of the room. The king was easily spotted, the crown that laid on his head was a clear indicator of that. The woman beside him seemed to be his wife and the two elder people were probably his parents. You grabbed one of the nearest chairs, twisting it around before sitting down sideways and throwing your legs over the side. The king seemed to recognize you while the elder two just seemed shocked at your behavior.
"Oh, right. I apologize." You scoffed softly before putting your hat on the table before ruffling your hair and leaning back in your chair again. The doors suddenly slammed open again, revealing about a dozen of guards that all aimed their weapons at you. Soon enough, you were surrounded by them and you couldn't help but sigh. You moved slightly, just enough to wrap your hand around the bag that hung on your belt, but also enough for the guards to react again. You felt a knife press against your neck and rolled your eyes at it, opting to throw the bag to the king. It landed with a loud thud, the contents rolling out and rendering the room silent.
"I heard you were offering a nice price for this, although I demand a bit extra for the threat on my life." You threw him a smile and the guards around you were quick to disperse when the king waved his hand, reaching out to the jewel before him. Then he looked at one of the guards, asking him to get Jihoon. You raised an eyebrow at this, a bit offended about the fact that he didn't trust you, but then again you were a pirate. You didn't have a nice reputation, not thanks to some people that dared to call themselves pirates. Moments later a man entered, his bright red hair a contrast to his pale skin and the black robes he wore were covered in dust and wet spots. You frowned as the short man just walked past you, looking rather annoyed at the call for him, before freezing as he caught sight of the jewel.
"Yes, that's real!" You called out and his eyes snapped to you before back at the jewel, lifting it before inspecting it closely. Once done, he just handed the jewel back to Seungcheol with a nod and you smirked.
"Told ya!" You gleamed almost as Seungcheol nodded at you before getting up and telling you to follow him. You got up, bumping your shoulder harshly against the guard's that had held a sword to your neck and gave him a small glare. The guard just scoffed, but didn't say anything as you walked out. The walk through the hallways wasn't long, but you couldn't help but stare at every painting and sculpture that you passed. You stopped on one, a large painting with thirteen men and all smiling brightly. One caught your eye, the siren that you had spotted earlier. Although, his eyes were blue here unlike the pink color you spotted earlier. Staring at it for a few seconds, you then decided that you had probably seen it wrong. So you waited no longer as you followed Seungcheol again, entering what seem to be the king's office.
"Are you going to offer me a deal or something?" "Yes, actually." Seungcheol spoke and you frowned as you sat down in one of the chairs, the golden object before you quickly catching your eye. You wanted to take a look, but the man opposite of you prevented that as he sat down.
"Our previous supplier of magic items has... Well, he isn't our supplier anymore and we need a new one." He explained and you leaned back, sighing softly.
"What do I get?" "A place where you and your crew can stay without being chased down by every guard, unless they do something wrong. And also, a decent job that pays well." Seungcheol explained the rest and you scoffed softly as Seungcheol held out his hand, but you leaned forward before shaking his hand.
"We've got a deal then!"
"Are you just going to stare at her?" Wonwoo asked and Seungkwan glared at the vampire, shoving up the umbrella to make the sun hit Wonwoo's skin for just a second. Wonwoo hissed loudly, showing his fangs for a split second, a gesture that Seungkwan gladly returned with his own hiss. Then he moved his eyes back to your form.
You were working in the blazing sun, jacket thrown somewhere and clothes sticking to your body like a second skin. Sweat covered your body, drenching your clothes and making your hair cling to your head. Most people would be a bit disgusted by such a sight, but Seungkwan thought quite the opposite. He couldn't stop admiring you, if anything. He just stared at you as you lifted the barrels and carried them to your ship before repeating the action with the next barrel. Every single action made your muscles flex, an action that made Seungkwan's mouth practically water.
You, on the other hand, felt the eyes of the siren on you and you had caught his stare a few times. It almost felt satisfying to see how he reacted to you and you made sure to flex your muscles more often, watching carefully as the siren swallowed harshly every single time. It was very amusing.
"Captain!" Your first mate called out to you loudly, running up to you and handing you a towel. You took it, wiping the sweat away on your forehead before looking at the paper that was held out to you. You read the list with care, most objects were easy to get. Gems, crystals, some potions and even some enchanted weapons that you'd have to visit the dwarves for. None impossible to find, except for one.
"He wants ogre eyes?" You asked, just to be sure that it was supposed to be on the list and your first mate just nodded. With a groan, you threw the towel back at him before marching off to where the siren and vampire were sitting. Slamming down the list, you sat down and gave a short wink to the siren before turning to the pale man.
"You're friends of Seungcheol, right?" You asked and the vampire nodded, introducing himself as Wonwoo before pointing at the siren and introducing him as Seungkwan. Nodding, you then pointed at the list.
"Can you tell Seungcheol that he's an ass. These things-" you pointed at the words to make it clear. "-are bloody hard to find." You sighed as you leaned back in your seat as the two men looked at the list.
"You can find those in Eldan, they sell them at the main markets." Seungkwan spoke and you nodded before leaning closer to the boys.
"Yeah, but those electrical storms are incredibly difficult to get through." "I can help there." Seungkwan spoke and you frowned, leaning back in your seat as you waited for him to explain further. He didn't say anything more and you shrugged.
"Fine, you'll come with. Tell Seungcheol!" You told Wonwoo before grabbing Seungkwan and dragging him to the ship. He complained, but you didn't care much as you needed to leave immediatley. The weather was pleasant now and you didn't want to wait for a storm to roll around, because you really didn't want to loose any crew members.
"Can't I just swim?" Seungkwan felt sea-sick, not being used to be on top of the ocean instead of in. He had been laying down all day, he assumed it was a day, and you were beside him the whole time. Although you weren't helping him too much, mostly just joking around as you had never seen a sea-sick sea-creature.
"Well, we should be in Eldan territory soon so we kind of need you." You said and just on cue, a loud thunder sounded and shook the whole ship. Seungkwan was quickly thrown to the side, crashing to the ground with a loud groan while you still remained sat in the same spot.
"I hope you can reach the deck." You spoke as you got up, not even falling as the ship rocked from side to side. The door was thrown open and you were met with a dark atmosphere and all your crew members in panic.
"Get the sails up!" You yelled out and a moment of silence was followed by all the crew rushing to their tasks. Seungkwan reached the deck not minutes later, his skin paler as before as he realized something. This wasn't a regular electrical storm, not one he could fix with ease.
This was the work of a thunderbird.
"Well?" You turned to him and Seungkwan could only stare at you with wide eyes, which quickly made you realize that something was wrong. Just then, another loud thunder followed by a screech. A loud curse came from you as you watched something crash through one of your sails, ripping it to shreds and slowing your boat.
"Dammit! Get the new sails, get them in the air! Now!" You screamed to your men, some frozen in fear before moving as they were dragged by others. The storm only seemed to worsen as even you started to stumble at the rocking of the boat and Seungkwan had already given up on standing, instead he was just sprawled on the ground.
"You can't do anything?!" "You try talking to a thunderbird, they're stubborn as hell!" Seungkwan screamed back and you groaned loudly before rushing upwards, clinging onto one of the ropes before hauling yourself up. You reached the top of the mast with ease, looking out for any sign of the beast. Luckily, it made itself known. How, you may ask?
By smashing into your boat full force.
Seungkwan let out a screech, something that made you wince as you watched the bird stalk closer to the siren. Unfortunately for Seungkwan, he had also turned into half a fish due to the amount of water that was splashing him. You groaned, almost a bit annoyed at the fact that you now had to save the one who promised to calm the storm. Nonetheless, you grabbed you sword and slashed a rope before descending at lightning speed. Once you landed on the deck, you rushed to Seungkwan, cutting at one of the wings and successfully cutting it. The bird screeched loudly, but was unable to fly off thanks to the large cut you made. Then it just froze.
"Come on, kill it!" Seungkwan called and you turned your head to see Seungkwan holding some sort of stone towards the creature and you took the chance to slay it. When it landed on the deck fully, you were quick to push your blade down to make the creature pass quickly without too much suffering. The storm seized, the waters turned calm again and you fell down in exhaustion.
"Good work." You called before flinching as you felt two arms wrap around your waist, Seungkwan's head pushing against your side. You awkwardly pat his back while waiting for him to release you, he was surprisingly strong. You could hear him mumbling words of apologies, but you were quick to shush his worries.
"We didn't know and we're safe." You said before raising your head as someone called out that land was in sight.
"Please just get to shore." Seungkwan mumbled and you chuckled, patting his head before sitting up and looking at the clear view of the sea. Then you turned to watch Seungkwan again, your heart racing as you watched him. He was cute in a way, cuddled up by your side while keeping you tightly in his grip. Also, but naked except for his shirt. With a short flinch, you were quick to shove your jacket on top of the man and he looked up before turning red from embarrassment. You were quick to just get him some pants, which he gladly put on before handing you your jacket back.
"You wear it, it's scalding hot out here. Wouldn't want you to dry out." With a short wink, you walked off of the ship and on the docks. Sauntering away, you left Seungkwan alone on the deck in pure confusion.
Seungkwan didn't know what to do, not when he felt jealousy consume him as he watched a man near you get a bit too close for his liking. The arm around your shoulder was bugging Seungkwan to no end and you never seemed to display any kind of discomfort. Until the man came a bit too close, seconds later the man landed on the ground while clutching his arm in pain. Seungkwan's eyes widened as he watched you stride over to his table, sitting beside him with a grin.
"What was the staring for?" You asked as you set down your mug, looking at him with curiosity and a hint of smugness. Seungkwan blushed before looking at his own glass, just a class of water unlike your alcoholic drink, while trying to come up with an answer. He didn't have to think for long as you threw your arm around his shoulders, leaning closer to his ear before whispering.
"Does it have to do with your little crush on me?" You asked and Seungkwan's eyes widened before he awkwardly turned his head to look at you. You smiled at him, watching as his ears turned red again from embarrassment.
"You talk in your sleep." You gave another wink as you let go of him again, ruffling his hair softly and the siren blushed even more. "I can't help it, okay!" He exclaims and you smile again, turning to face him completely. You stared at him for a few seconds, unable to get your thoughts straight as you watched the man. Once again, you were reminded of how ethereal Seungkwan looked without even trying. Your heart was kind enough to remind you of your growing affection for him, almost hammering out of your chest the longer you stared at Seungkwan.
"I'm going back to the ship." You then spoke, kissing Seungkwan's cheek before getting up and making your way back to the ship on your own. By doing so, you missed the chance to see Seungkwan's eyes change back to the lovely pink color that was reserved for you.
The sea was calm today, the moon high in the sky and surrounded by a million stars. The soft wind cooled you down from the buzzing heat in your body, making you sigh with content as you raised your glass to your lips. Your eyes closed as you leaned your head back, sighing once again.
"Are you okay?" Seungkwan's voice pulled you from your thoughts and you turned your head to watch him, a bit surprised that the man had followed you outside although you didn't show it.
"I'm thinking..." You replied shortly, not really knowing what you could possibly say that would sound like a sane person. Sure, magical beings existed, but you weren't one. So how would you explain the sudden connection to Seungkwan that was only spoken of with certain magicals. Usually also with their own kind, you never read of a human and magical being soulmates.
"Do siren's have soulmates?" You asked, unable to stop yourself from asking. You couldn't help but notice Seungkwan's body stiffening, freezing for a few seconds before relaxing again. He nodded, staring at the sea as well before looking at you. You looked back at him, eyes widening slightly as you noticed his eyes.
"I thought you had blue eyes?" This seemed to shock Seungkwan as he quickly looked away, hiding his eyes from your gaze. You frowned, placing your hand underneath his chin before softly turning him back to face you. His face was red from blushing, his eyes almost a neon pink with swirls of blue and you gave him a reassuring smile.
"Does that have to do with me?" You asked and Seungkwan nodded, which made your eyes widen again as you did not expect him to actually confirm the thought. Your hand dropped and Seungkwan looked at the ground before sighing loudly, maybe as a way to make himself a bit more confident.
"I'm in love with you!" His voice was loud, you flinched slightly at the volume before blinking a few times. Then you pointed a finger at yourself, to which he nodded again.
"You- I'm your soulmate?!" You asked louder and the second that Seungkwan nodded, you threw yourself at the male to embrace him. You leaned back, staring at the man as his eyes flashed again before turning blue again. Seungkwan was the first to move again, kissing your cheek before burying his face into the crook of your neck with a low purr. You could only make out the soft whisper from the siren.
"Mine."

Synopsis: Minghao never really understood his kind much, much less their way of loving. Yet when he meets you, an annoying Qiongqi with no filter, he starts feeling things he'll never really understand.
Pairing: Xu Minghao x fem!reader Word Count: 3.3k words
Minghao was a dragon and, just like any other prideful dragon, he hoards stuff in his house. More specifically, two different kind of things that peaked his interest.
Tea and daggers.
One of his rooms, one of the larger ones, was filled with anything to do with tea. Tea leaves, tea cups and pots covered every spot in the room, cabinets high enough to match the ones in the royal library. Minghao always enjoyed flying to the top and see his collection, it made his heart fill with pride. One of the other rooms, one that was just a bit smaller, was filled with fancy daggers. Some he bought, others were stolen and some were taken off of his victims. Every single one was special to him.
And, just like every other dragon, Minghao knew his collection by heart.
So the missing dagger in his room was quickly missed, which made Minghao's blood boil to no extent. He began searching for it, but even after a few days he found nothing. He always returned empty handed and thus he was greatly disappointed in himself. Even his friends couldn't find anything, but Minghao appreciated their efforts nonetheless. He'd find it someday, he had too.
"I found it!" Junhui ran inside of his house, bumping into a table and sending a vase crashing to the ground. Minghao sighed, letting it go for now since he hated that vase with a passion, and instead he focused on what Junhui has just said. Junhui started to ramble, explaining that he saw the dagger on someone he met in the tavern. In an instant, Minghao ran out of the house before flying into the air and to the tavern once he was outside. When he landed, he didn't even bother to change back to his full human form and instead he remained as a half dragon. His wings neatly folded behind his back as he entered, looking around until he spotted you. You were sat at a table in the back, alone, and his dagger was laid on the table. You were staring at it, drink in hand as you poked the gem in the middle of the handle. Even when he saw all that, Minghao could not move from his spot. He could see what you were with ease.
Stripes covered your skin and ran through your hair, two little horns sticking out, a striped tail laid beside you and two large wings erupted from your back, things that indicated to one thing. You were a qiongqi, something that Minghao had never seen before in his life, even when his life was a short one compared to other dragons. It took him awhile to snap from his trance and back into his previous anger as he marched over, slamming his hand on the table. You looked up and Minghao felt a shiver go up his spine as he met your cold eyes. You raised an eyebrow at him, waiting for any kind of explanation for the interruption of your peaceful evening.
"Can I help you?" "Mine." Minghao spoke as he pointed at the dagger and you smirked, leaning forwards as you grabbed the dagger. In a second, the dagger settled right in between his finger and a bit too close to his skin.
"So you're the little dragon that lived there." You were teasing him, but Minghao wasn't sure if it was meant like a joke or to mock him. Slowly retreating his hand, Minghao sat down opposite of you. Your smirk dropped, an expression of annoyance taking over instead as you pulled the dagger from the table.
"So, what do you want?" You asked, leaning back in your seat before putting the dagger down in the middle of the table. Minghao wanted to reach out of it, but he held himself back as he noticed your hand lingering close by. Your nails looked sharp and Minghao knew well enough that they could pierce right through his scales, so he wouldn't want to try.
"I want my dagger back." He stated, although he felt like he lacked some confidence when he saw you smirk again. You raised your hand, flicking the dagger to make it spin before making it stop when the handle pointed at him. Raising your eyebrow, you waited for him to take it. Minghao waited a few seconds before reaching out, freezing when your hand wrapped around his wrist. He was pulled to you, the dagger dropping back on the table with a clang.
"You know, I happen to like dragon scales." You said, your other hands raking over his scales with your nails. Minghao's eyes widened before he tried to pull his arm back, to no avail of course. Your hand remained tightly wrapped around his wrist, smirk not disappearing from your face as you pulled on one of his scales. It didn't hurt him much, his scales were changing anyway and he'd grown new ones in a few days. Nonetheless, his pride was hurt more that he was losing to you in a way.
"Maybe an eye as well, I heard they're quite valuable after plucking it out." You raised the dagger again with your previously empty hand, raising it to Minghao's right eye and pushing him back until he couldn't anymore.
"What do you think?" It was then that you were interrupted by someone who just pushed down the dagger awkwardly, smiling at you innocently.
"Soonyoung-hyung, not the time." Minghao spoke, although his voice sounded a bit strained. Soonyoung didn't seem to care as he sat down next to his younger friend, leaning over the table before pointing at you.
"Tiger." And right then and there, you laughed. A genuine laugh that made Soonyoung smile and Minghao frown. His wrist was released and the dagger was placed next to his hand, making him frown even more.
"How are you, my dear brother?" You smiled at Soonyoung before turning to Minghao again, leaning forward on your elbows before sending a wink his way.
"Till next time, dragon boy." You then stood up and Soonyoung followed, happily chatting to you as you listened with a small smile. Minghao was left utterly confused and maybe a bit intrigued. Luckily for his mental health, it was quickly replaced with annoyance and he needn't worry about unfamiliar thoughts.
"We meet again, lizard." Minghao groaned out loud as he heard your voice, not expecting to ever see you again and especially at night. Yet here you were, sitting on his roof with a familiar dagger in hand. A different one from previously and it made Minghao see red once more.
"Do you always break in people's houses and steal stuff?" He asked and you pulled up one of your legs, leaning on it as you twirled the dagger around in your hand. You weren't smiling, instead you were just staring at him intensely. Your eyes glowed in the dark, the yellow glow was easily seen even without any other light around. Then you jumped down, landing with ease before making your way closer to him while still twirling around the dagger. You circled him, like a predator hunting its prey, and for once Minghao actually felt like he was prey instead of predator. You dragged the dagger against his wings and body before raising it to his neck and softly pressing it against his jugular vein.
"So, how about that scale?" You asked before lowering the dagger, letting it rest on his arm. Then you dug it under one of the scales and pushing it outwards, which caused one of the scales to drop to the ground. You picked it up, circling around again until you stood in front of Minghao. You held the scale up, smiling at the bright red scale before looking back at Minghao.
"It'll grow back soon, so I hope you don't mind." You stated before sauntering off after putting the scale away. Minghao watched your figure before looking at his arm, watching the spot where his scale was before.
He realized only later that you had also taken his dagger with you...
Minghao glared at you as you talked to Soonyoung, more particularly the object that was hanging from a cord around your neck. A scale, his scale. It looked as bright as before, maybe even brighter than the ones that were visible on his arms. His tail and wings were twitching ever so slightly, mostly out of annoyance. The reason wasn't his scale...
Rather, the other ones that hung beside it.
Blue, green, purple and yellow scales hung on the cord along his. They looked like trophies, you were proudly displaying them at least, and you didn't seem to care much. Not even when you noticed Minghao's glaring. No, you just took a hold of his scale and sent a wink his way before continuing your conversation.
"You gave her a scale? You won't even give me one!" Seungkwan complained, angrily looking at Minghao and receiving a glare in return. Minghao mumbled that it wasn't given but rather taken, but Seungkwan didn't seem to hear him or had chosen to ignore it as he angrily pouted. Minghao rolled his eyes, focusing back on you before realizing that you were gone. So Minghao quickly checked his belt. Low and behold, his daggers were gone from their respective holsters.
"Looking for these?" Your voice rang from behind him and he felt a dagger rake against his horns, making the jewels on them jingle softly. Minghao's hand shot up, grabbing the dagger with an angry look thrown your ways. He didn't care much for the fact that he held the blade itself, blood seeping from the cut in his hand and down his sleeve. You looked a bit shocked, but let go of the handle anyway as you removed the shocked look on your face.
"I don't like your glare much, I prefer the look you had last night." You smirked at him as you watched the others on the table look at Minghao in shock, which in turn made Minghao's face pale slightly.
"Nothing happened!" He was shocked himself, getting up in a second to tell you off for lying in a way. You smiled, raising an eyebrow at him before pointing another one of his daggers at him.
"That's the one I like." And with that, you set off again with two of Minghao's daggers with you. Minghao swore he'd kill you the next time, he promised that he would.
He couldn't...
Something held him back, Minghao didn't know what it was. Even when he had caught you and won the fight, pining you to the ground with his claws ready to pierce through your neck. There was something that intrigued him when he saw you like this.
Your hair was sprawled around you like a halo, your arms pined above your head and held there by Minghao's hand, your wings spread out while your tail swished softly as you waited for him to strike. Your eyes were shut, only opening when nothing was happening for several minutes. You stared at him as he loomed over you, a position that you didn't think you'd be in on a monday morning in the middle of a field at all. Yet here you were, pinned down by a very good-looking dragon.
You could imagine situations to be in, so you couldn't really complain.
"Take them off." Minghao spoke without realizing, he didn't even want to say anything at all. He felt like he had no control over his body, his grip on your neck was slowly loosening. You frowned at him, wondering what he was talking about. Then your eyes widened.
"My clothes?!" Minghao's eyes widened as well as he jumped off of you in shock, looking at you like you just grew a second head.
"What? No!" He screamed back and you shrugged, leaning on your elbows. "What a pity." You replied before sitting up completely, making the scales around your neck fall over your shirt. You quickly caught his eyes darting to them, to which you held them up and asking if he meant them. Once again, he lost control of his own body and nodded. You ripped off the cord, letting the scales fall to the ground and Minghao frowned as his fell on the ground as well. You caught this as well, lifting it again and watching Minghao's expression morph into a happier and more relaxed one.
"You just want me to wear yours?" You asked and Minghao rolled his eyes, glad that he regained control over himself. You shrugged, putting it your mouth as you got up before putting grabbing another cord to put it on.
"Tada!" You swung it in front of Minghao before putting it around your neck, getting closer to him at the same time. You leaned closer to him, your nose touching his softly and making the man look at you in shock.
"Seems the dragon is possessive of me." You said and Minghao somehow agreed, not that he would tell you. He didn't know why he was like this, but he didn't like it as it made him feel weak. His eyes remained on yours, staring at you for a few seconds. You didn't look away either, so you just stared.
"Am I interrupting something..?" Junhui's voice appeared out of nowhere as both you and Minghao turned your heads in his directions, to which Junhui just smiled awkwardly.
"I'll leave." He waved before quickly running off and Minghao looked back at you with a glare. You just smirked at him, tapping his nose softly before winking and leaving. Minghao couldn't stop his disappointment nor could he stop his heart as it basically jumped out of his chest.
"You're in love." Mingyu didn't even look up from the food at his fingertips, he didn't need to. It was an easy guess, the symptoms that the dragon explained were much the same of his own for Hazel. Although it was obvious, Minghao didn't want to accept it. He barely knew you, he only met you a handful of times and none of those experiences weren't really fun for him.
"Dragons can bond with a person because they want them for their hoard. They don't have much control over it and it can happen more than once. It's a bit like Seungkwan's instant love thingy..." Wonwoo cut into the conversation, his comment making sense immediatley and making Minghao frown. Wonwoo looked up from his book, pulling his foot out of the sunlight before looking at Minghao again.
"You didn't know that?" When Minghao shook his head, Wonwoo awkwardly looked at the book he held before laying it on the ground and kicking it to Minghao.
"Do you want me to close the curtains?" Minghao asked as he picked up the book and Wonwoo nodded, waiting until the sunlight was blocked off. He stretched out his legs, glad that he could after sitting in the corner of the room to avoid sunlight. The book in Minghao's hands was quickly opened again, reading the sentences on what Wonwoo had just explained. Low and behold, everything said was making Minghao's feelings feel valid in a way. On the flip side, it made him a bit more annoyed that it had to be you of all people had to be the one he fell for. Weirdly enough, his body didn't seem to mind it to be you nor did his heart.
"Soonyoung?" Your voice entered just as Minghao thought of you, you stuck your head into the room before frowning. Minghao's heart skipped a beat again when his eyes connected with yours, your smile as you entered the room felt like a nice cold shower in summer.
"Lizard!" Cue the loud laugh from Mingyu, which was quickly answered with a glare from Minghao while you just smirked. Then you glanced at the book that he held, snagging it from his hands before reading the pages that Minghao was reading.
"An infatuation with a person that comes from the desire to hoard. Is often similar to love, but can also turn into an obsession that could lead to the death of the dragon or person that their infatuated with." You read the page out loud, unaware of the lingering eyes of Minghao as he awaited any kind of reaction.
"A love from wishing to possess someone isn't really love is it? It just sound like their lover would be trapped in a relationship they might not want, no?" "Not at all! They still only do so if the other wants to!" Minghao protested and you frowned, closing the book before pushing it back into Minghao's chest.
"How would you know? Have you fallen for someone, scaly?" You were teasing him, but Minghao didn't react like usual. Normally, he'd just roll his eyes and move on. Now was not one of those moments, rather he was annoyed at your statement. It sounded like you were doubting the fact that he could love someone or the fact that you assumed he'd take someone against their will. Both facts annoyed him, made him angry that you believed to be like that. At the same time, it hurt his heart to realize this.
"Wait, you have?" You broke the silence as you realized his actual sentiment behind those words, the sad look in his eyes said a million things. Apologies were quick to pour from your mouth, but Minghao didn't listen to you at all.
"I really didn't mean that you could love anyone, I'm a hundred percent sure you do! Whoever they are, they're really lucky!" You exclaimed and this was something that made Minghao perk up. You saw as his face lit up, eyes almost sparkling as he asked if you meant it. You frowned, a bit confused by his question before nodding.
"Yeah, they really are." You spoke, not being able to control the slight pain in your voice. However, Minghao's hearing was a bit better than most.
"Do you think you're lucky then?" He takes the chance, but before you could answer you heard a loud crash from behind Minghao. Mingyu stood by the table, books scattered on the ground as he held his side in pain. Wonwoo groaned, getting up from his seat in the corner and walking to Mingyu. He hissed as the sunlight hit his skin, but ignored it as he dragged Mingyu out.
"Continue!" And with that, the two of them were gone and silence took over the room. You blinked a few times before shaking your head and turning to Minghao again, staring at him in confusion.
"Why would I be lucky? Shouldn't you ask that to the person you li- Ooooooh..." You stopped yourself, closing your eyes before sighing and looking back at Minghao. He looked nervous, awaiting your answer while fiddling with the hem of his shirt.
"Guess I'm very lucky then." That was all it took for the single thread that held back all of Minghao's desires, snapped. He surged forward to embrace you, but you were quick to dodge him and push him against the cabinet of books.
"One thing, I'm in charge here." You whispered in his ear before gently kissing his neck, leaning back with one of your classic smirks. Minghao groaned in annoyance before pulling you closer again.
"We both are." He gave you a smirk of his own before pushing his head in the crook of your neck and breathing in. You could hear him whispering the word mine, but you paid no attention to it as your plucked a feather from your wing. You watched as it turned solid, turning it more into a charm than a feather. Then you lifted it up to Minghao's right horn, hooking it on one of the many (horn) bracelets he already wore. It clicked and remained at the end of his horn, which made Minghao look up in confusion.
"Token of love." You smiled at him and Minghao stared at you for a couple of seconds before searching in his pockets. Then he pulled out a necklace, one with his scale and some pearls that he then handed to you. You smiled, hanging it around your neck before looking up again.
"Red suits me, no?"

Can I please request Father’s Day featuring Mingyu? 🥰
Pairing: Kim Mingyu x reader Word Count: 0.6k words
A/N short drabble, hope it is to your liking :)
Mingyu was usually not quick to wake, preferably sleeping in until at least 9 before he could fully function. Yet now, he was awakened around 7 by his daughter. She was pushing and pulling him, her voice calling for him to wake up. He was about to roll over after waking you, but then the realization hit him. You were in fact not home today, put of town to visit a patient of yours and thus he was responsible for his daughter.
"Come on, I have school!" His daughter's whines woke him up quicker than he'd expect, but soon enough he found himself in the bathroom. His daughter sat on her chair, waiting for him to start on her hair while he just stared at the comb questionably.
"How about letting your hair down today?" He tried with an awkward chuckle, because Mingyu was not great with styling hair. Unfortunately for him, his daughter didn't agree in the slightest and just sent him an look through the mirror. And thus, Mingyu started brushing it out before slowly bringing all of it back to braid. The braid was messy, strands sticking out of the braid and it was slightly uneven on some parts. Nonetheless, Mingyu was proud of himself as he added the hair tie with a bow on the end.
"Thank you!" With that, Mingyu joined her in getting ready, washing his face and brushing his teeth before getting dressed in jeans and a shirt. Then he helped her get into her dress before going to the kitchen, making some food for her and him aka cornflakes.
"Thank you, appa." She smiled as she ate her food, finishing it in a matter of minutes before getting up again to grab her stuff.
"I'll drive you." Mingyu spoke as he grabbed his stuff before grabbing his phone as well, pulling his shoes on before guiding his daughter to the car. It was a quick drive to school and a quick drop off before Mingyu went back the house. The day went by quickly and you were the one to go for pick up at school.
"Appa!!!" The scream through the house was loud, making Mingyu look up before he was tackled to the ground. The smile he saw was quickly mimicked on his own face, the loud chatter drowned out as he sat up to watch the picture that was held out in front of him. It was messily drawn, but it was clear to Mingyu what it was. It was him, standing tall next to a drawing of his favorite little girl and a figure of you. Messy letters were beneath the drawing, making Mingyu smile as he noticed the similarities to his own writing style.
"Happy father's day!!! I love you!" Mingyu's smile brightened even more, happily hugging his daughter as he flopped back to the ground with a loud laugh. You walked in as well, dropping your stuff on the chair before crouching down next to the pair of giggling children.
"How about we clean up first, little one?" You asked and your daughter looked up from her father's chest with another smile before nodding and waddling off to her room. You looked back to Mingyu, helping him up before softly kissing his cheek.
"Happy father's day." You winked before following your daughter into her room, Mingyu left behind and blushing like an idiot.

I'll have to come and watch then

Synopsis: A maid and a chef, Mingyu knew how cliché it sounded. Then again, who else would help him with his crazy recipe tests at midnight?
Pairing: Kim Mingyu x fem!reader Word Count: 3.7k words
"Can I get you anything else?" You tried to keep your voice low, you knew that king Seungcheol had been working hard these past few days and he would probably have a large headache thanks to it. The man before you looked up from the stack of papers on his desk before sighing.
"Could you get Mingyu to make me something sugary? I need the boost for this." He spoke softly, voice strained from dehydration. You nodded as you filled a glass with water and set it down near him.
"Shall I inform your wife of your absence during dinner?" You asked and Seungcheol quickly shook his, knowing full well what the consequences would be if he missed dinner. You bowed your head before bidding him goodbye, making your way down the hall until you reached the kitchen. Smells of various foods and spices filled your sense, overwhelming you slightly as you entered. Chefs greeted you happily, but they quickly turned away as they worked. Spotting Mingyu was easy, thanks to his height he stood above everyone with ease. You made your way to him, calling his name. He turned, smiling at you and showing off his little fangs while doing so. His apron was covered in flour and, what you assumed to be, cake mixture. He held a bowl in one hand and a whisk in the other, still mixing the batter in the bowl as he waited for you to ask what you needed.
"The king asked for something sugary..." You told him and Mingyu sighed before pushing the bowl of batter in your arms, telling you to keep whisking as he searched for something. You followed his command, all be it a bit clumsy, while keeping an eye on what he was doing. He seemed to find what he was looking for in a cabinet, pulling out a tray with various kinds of snacks. He sorted through them quickly before picking two of them and placing them on a plate.
"These should do the trick! Tell hyung to not overwork too much." Mingyu told you before pulling the bowl back from your hands and continuing his own work. You grabbed the plate of food before pulling open one of the drawers to get a fork as well, making Mingyu move as he was in the way. He didn't seem to care much, too focused on his mixture. With that you went back to Seungcheol's office, snacks in hand and looking a bit too good to not eat. You almost wished to eat one of the snacks, but you knew well enough that you were not supposed to eat food made by the royal chef. You just hoped that your sour expression was not too obvious.
"Please bring these to-" "Hyung!" Seungcheol was interrupted as the door of his office slammed open, making you flinch at the loud sound of the door slamming against the wall. In the doorway stood Vernon, dressed in his armor and a worried look on his face. You had never seen such a look on the knights face, not even when he was fighting in wars or battles. Seungcheol seemed to have the same thought as he stood from his seat, asking what was wrong.
"There's been a loud explosion in the west tower, we think it's an attack!" Vernon's voice boomed loudly as he ran back into the hallway with Seungcheol hot on his heels. You followed, knowing that you could help with the wounded if necessary. The west tower was Jihoon's, so you hoped that it was just a failed experiment. Even then, you hoped that there were not too many people in the building. The tower came in view quickly, smoke and flames rising from the large hole on the side of the building. You quickly pulled a handkerchief out of your apron and tied it around your face before moving closer to the fire. Some people from inside were already safe, sitting by the main building. None looked too injured. Commands were thrown out, guards started to scout the area while others protected the people. You counted them quickly, realizing that they were all the staff from the tower. Only one person was missing from the mob.
Jihoon.
"Jihoon is still inside!" One of the workers called out before coughing loudly, but it was heard by everyone. Right then, a loud boom was heard again as the fire engulfed the whole tower. You watched as everyone backed away, none daring to risk their lives while others tried to hold back Seungcheol. So you did what you could do best, you helped.
Running inside, you ignored the shouts from behind you as you ran through the flames. Your skin was heating up as the flames hit you, sweat was pouring from your frame and soaking your clothes. Nonetheless, you made your way up the stone stairs, heaving as breathing started to get more difficult by the second. The door of the lab was gone, burned to ashes and the doorway revealed a part of what used to be the lab. Jihoon was easily spotted, his bright pink hair stood out amongst the flames. You ran in, turning Jihoon on his back before checking his vitals. His heartbeat was quick and his breaths were shallow, you didn't even want to imagen how much smoke the alchemist had breathed in at this point. Too busy with checking him, you barely noticed as someone landed beside you, but you did notice someone's wings being wrapped around you and Jihoon's frames.
"Is he okay?" Minghao's voice rang out and you quickly nodded, trying not to focus too much on the fact that you had a dragon beside you. Instead, you lifted Jihoon slightly before handing him to Minghao. Minghao understood your intentions and held Jihoon to his chest before flying out of the building, telling you to stay safe until he returned. What he hadn't accounted for was that the gust of wind he created would raise the flames higher. The wood around you creaked loudly before snapping, ashes and wood falling down all at once. You jumped out of the way, hissing as you watched your dress go up in to flames slightly and burning your leg along with it. You turned back to watch the outside, hoping that Minghao would appear and yet he did not. Your choices were simple, jump out of the hole of the wall or suffocate in the flames.
You would die either way.
Mingyu watched as Minghao landed, revealing Jihoon in his arms. Jihoon looked like hell, ashes smudged on his face and clothes burned in various places and even into his skin. Jeonghan was the first to rush forward, followed by Joshua. From a distance, Mingyu could clearly hear a loud scream from Soonyoung and he watched the pixie rush past everyone before being stopped by Wonwoo and Jun right before reaching Jihoon. Minghao detached himself from Jihoon and turned back to the tower, reading himself to take flight again before freezing.
Although he was a dragon, fire would still hurt his human skin along with the skin that connected to his wings. His whole back was burned, the skin around his wings had turned almost black and his wings could barely respond to his wishes. He tried, but his right wing just gave up and dropped to the ground.
"Someone's still in there! She's locked in!" Minghao screamed, hoping that anyone would listen and yet no one did. Everyone just stared as they watched the building collapse, most holding their breaths because of shock. There was nothing that they could do, no one else could fly close enough to the flames and help. They'd just be risking more lives doing so. Hence why Seungcheol forbid anyone to go, holding back Chan from going as he looked to the ground. Minghao screamed at Seungcheol, who just took the insults without any protest.
Mingyu focused back on the building before his eyes widened. Among the smoke was a figure, clearly falling down to the ground at a high speed. Without thinking twice, he raced forward. The closer he got, how easier it got to spot the shadow of whoever was falling. He jumped when close enough, wrapping his arms around the person before crashing back to the ground. Pain shot through his shoulder and side, he felt flames on his arm and stones were falling around him. One look confirmed Mingyu's suspicions, he had suspected it being you when he couldn't spot you on the courtyard. His arms wrapped tightly around you, trying to protect you from everything around him while he ignored the throbbing pain in his whole body. Only when everything stopped did he move again, but he could only spot the concerned looks from his friends before he blacked out.
The first thing you saw was the white ceiling, then a person. You couldn't identify them, their back was turned to you and their hair was not familiar to you. When they turned around, you guessed that they were an official nurse from the castle.
"You're awake!" Their voice was loud, too loud for your liking as you winced. The nurse rushed out of the room, leaving you alone in silence. You took the chance to recall whatever had happened, sitting in in the meantime and inspecting your wounds. Most of them looked fine, you assumed that someone had used healing magic on you, and you could spot some burns on your leg that hadn't fully healed.
"(Y/n)?" You looked up from your leg when you heard Seungcheol's voice, spotting him at the door along with Minghao. You bowed your head at them, hissing at the pain that shot through your back. Minghao was the first to come closer, sitting on your bed as he inspected your wounds. You let him, not really knowing how to tell the dragon that you were a bit uncomfortable with his actions.
"I'm sorry that I couldn't save you. It was not my intention to leave you there." His voice sounded hoarse, almost like he had shouted so much for his vocal cords to break. Seungcheol entered as well and you finally spotted the third person entering. Mingyu stood in the doorway, supporting his weight with two crutches. His leg was wrapped in bandages, covering what you assumed to be burns or wounds from the falling rocks. He came inside, sitting on a chair with Seungcheol's help before he looked back to you.
"Are you okay?" "I feel like I should be the one asking that... You look in a worse state than me." You couldn't help but say that, you were only speaking the truth after all. Mingyu seemed to agree, chuckling at the comment before lifting his injured leg.
"It healed already, Jeonghan-hyung is a bit too concerned." Mingyu explained, smiling as he set down his leg again before sighing. You turned to Minghao, asking him if he was injured and Minghao shook his head. Mingyu frowned and he was about to reply that Minghao did get hurt in the process, but a short glare from Minghao made him close his mouth quickly again. When you smiled, Mingyu understood why Minghao didn't want to tell you anything of his previously existing wounds. No use in worrying for something that had been fixed already, besides it wasn't your fault by any means so it wasn't a big deal to hide it from you.
"You should probably rest a bit more." Minghao then said and you nodded, yawning right afterwards. You covered your mouth in embarrassment, chuckling softly before saying goodbye. With that, you let your mind wander off again into a dreamless sleep.
"Why are you working again? You have at least one more month of recovery time left." Mingyu could only look at you in confusion, but you only scoffed at his remark.
"You're leg isn't even healed, you have no right to say that." You teased him back and Mingyu looked at his leg, wrapped in bandages before looking up again. "Jeonghan-hyung is dramatic." He remarked, but you just rolled your eyes at his antics before looking at the bowl in his hands. Some kind of pastry, the pink liquid was making you wonder what kind of taste it had. Seemingly reading your thoughts, Mingyu held down the bowl for you to dip your finger into and you gladly did. You expected strawberries or maybe some other kind of berries, but instead it was a lemon taste with a hint of cherries.
"Good?" Mingyu asked and you looked at him with a smile before nodding, which made him smile happily in return. "Good, another experiment worked!" He was cheery, almost hopping in place as he continued to work on his creation. You shook your head, softly patting his head before grabbing the plate with snacks for the king and leaving.
Mingyu remained in place, shocked at the fact that you petted him like he was a dog.
"Your imaginary tail is wagging." Another chef commented and without a second of thinking, he fake growled at the elder before huffing. He continued to work on his cake, albeit a bit more angrily than before.
"Alright, what about this one?" Mingyu held out a fork with some cake on it, which you happily ate before nodding. The chocolate flavor wasn't too strong and the caramel added a sweet touch to it that wasn't too overwhelming. Mingyu smiled before taking another cake and holding it out. You sighed, this one was at least the twentieth piece of cake that you would eat. It was a bit too much, you feared for the inevitable sugar rush and how you would act due to it. So instead of accepting the bite, you pushed the fork down.
"I will actually die of sugar overdose if I continue." You explained and Mingyu pouted, looking at the cake on the fork before raising it again.
"Last one." He said and you rolled your eyes before taking it from him, biting down in the sweet before shaking your head. The tastes didn't go together at all, rather they created a taste that you weren't able to describe. Mingyu frowned before tasting it himself, immediately wanting to spit it back out.
"That's definitely a failure." "You think?" You teased him as you held out a napkin, which he took before wiping his mouth. He then turned around, leaning against the counter while crossing his arms. A thank you fell from his lips, looking down and sniffing softly. You shrugged, raising yourself to sit on the counter and letting your legs dangle. Mingyu shook his head, turning himself to face you.
"I mean it, really. I shouldn't have asked you to help at this time." He said and you wanted to reply that it was fine, but a loud yawn was quicker than the words. Mingyu laughed, a genuine laugh that made your heart flutter right out of your chest and ascend to heaven.
"Come on, let's get you to your room." Mingyu spoke and you huffed before getting off the counter and walking out of the kitchen. Mingyu followed you, both of you walking to the staff house. You looked around the garden as you walked before stopping when you spotted something.
"Is that Soonyoung?" You asked and Mingyu immediatley turned his head around, flinching when he realized that it was indeed Soonyoung. Hanging from a tree...
"I wish you good luck!" "Don't you dare leave me alone with him!"
You skipped through the halls, the basket in your hands didn't feel as heavy as it actually was. It was a good day, at least it was so at the moment. It was short lived, instead of the usual friendly faces you saw in the laundry room, you were met with the head maid. An elder woman, grey hairs peaking from the black hair that was pulled into a tight braid. She had a stern look and you, like many more, feared the woman greatly.
"Where were you last night?" She asked and you almost scoffed out of instinct, but you stopped yourself just in time. Instead you just asked her why it mattered, you were not on duty so it shouldn't concern her in any way. This answer didn't seem to please her as her gaze grew more annoyed, pushing the basket in your hands to the ground. It clattered loudly and you wanted start picking up everything, but she prevented you of doing so by grabbing your wrist harshly. You hissed in pain, giving her a glare without care. At this point, it didn't matter what you did, it was clear that she was going to punish you either way. The slap you received was painful, stinging badly as it threw you sideways. You hissed in pain as you slipped on the clothes, making hit the floor harder than intentioned.
"Get up." You were pulled back on your feet only to be slapped again, making you fall once more. When she pulled you up once more, you were quick to avoid her third slap before pulling yourself out of her grip. You screamed at her, but it didn't help much.
"What is happening?" Someone yelled out loudly, interrupting your screaming match with the head maid as she turned her head. She bowed and you assumed that it was Seungcheol at this point. The head maid spoke to him in a sweet voice, explaining that you were being punished. He wasn't having any of it as you were suddenly pulled back.
"When did I give you permission to punish workers for things outside of work? Or for physical punishment?" Seungcheol spoke and she sputtered out an excuse, but once again Seungcheol wasn't accepting her excuses.
"Pack your bags, you will be removed from this household." He continued before guiding you away from the hall, ignoring the clothes that were still on the floor.
"I apologize for interrupting, I just had to step in." He then said to you, to which you quickly shook your head and thanked him instead. You honestly didn't mind his help, you didn't know what would've happened if he hadn't and it was a good thing for the head maid to be fired.
"Right, your clothes!" You suddenly remember the fallen clothes of earlier and you turned back around to head back, but you were quickly turned around by Seungcheol again as he told you to not worry about it. You couldn't complain to him, after all he was still the king. You barely comprehended the fact that you were being guided to Joshua's office, only upon entering did you realize. Joshua noticed you quickly and got up as he noticed the forming bruise on your face, quickly appearing by your side and inspecting it closely. Seungcheol left shortly after, sure that you would be fine without him.
"Just give me a second." Joshua walked off again, rummaging through his cabinets for something. During this, the door opened again and Mingyu walked in, hand bleeding slight as he wobbled inside.
"Hyung?" Mingyu called for Joshua, but then he spotted you. He was confused for a few seconds before spotting the bruise on your face, to which his eyes immediately widened. Joshua had found what he was looking for, handing it to you before marching over to Mingyu and inspecting his wound. Seemingly experienced with this, Joshua pulled out something from his pocket and applied it carefully. In only a few seconds, the wound started closing slowly and only leaving a white scar. Then Joshua pushed the medicine into Mingyu's hands.
"Please stop coming here, blood doesn't wash out from the wood." Joshua said before turning back to you, telling you to apply the cream he gave you at least twice a day. You nodded, thanking him before exiting the room. Mingyu was quick to follow you, almost like a lost puppy as he stared at you.
"What happened? How did you get that?" "It's nothing, I am fine now." You replied and Mingyu stopped you before dragging you somewhere. You didn't know the room you entered, but you didn't get much time to think as Mingyu just lifted you on the counter without any problem, then grabbing the jar of medicine and opening it. He started to gently apply the medicine, his face close to yours as he inspected the bruise. When his fingers retracted from your face, he just gave you a bright smile and without thinking you surged forward. Your lips pressed against his for barely a second before you pulled back again, shocked by your own actions. Mingyu's were wide of shock, staring at you with curiosity. You opened your mouth, but immediately closed when you couldn't think of any excuse. It wasn't necessary, however, as Mingyu's shocked expression faltered before morphing into a bright smile once more. He grabbed your face, careful enough to not accidently hurting you, before gently kissing you again. You melted into the kiss quickly, you'd talk about everything later. Right now, you just wanted to embrace the man you had fallen for. So you did, leaning back a bit and pulled Mingyu closer to you. One of his arms rested beside you while the other wrapped around your waist tightly, pulling you flush to his chest. You were quite surprised by his actions, even more when you realized how fit the man before you was for a cook. So when he pulled back from the kiss, you asked.
"How did you get so fit?" You asked, sneaking a look at his chest and causing the man before you to turn bright red as he jumped back slightly. He didn't seem to know how to answer, only turning redder when he noticed your stare.
"I work out with Vernon..." He finally answers and you smirked at him, leaning back on your arms. You had seen the knights train before, most of the time they didn't bother putting on their shirts and the image in your head could only make you smile. Your next sentence, one that came from a sudden boost of confidence, only made Mingyu go redder in the face.
"I'll have to come and watch then."

Synopsis: Your love wasn't meant to be, but Seokmin will fight to keep you by his side.
Pairing: Lee Seokmin x fem!reader Word Count: 4.0k words
"Why do they have 2 coronations? Isn't one enough?" You whined, slightly annoyed because of the long trip you were on. The ride to your neighbors kingdom, all for the coronation of the soon-to-be-king Choi Seungcheol. So of course you had to attend, unlike the previous one that you had skipped.
"The first one was to celebrate him getting the title of royal prince, now he's to be king. So behave yourself and show the respect necessary." Your mother spoke back before leaning closer and fixing your hair. After rearranging the flowers in your hair, she moved to fix your dress. Then her hand stopped on your necklace, pulling it from beneath your dress and into her hand. The smile on her face said enough. Although it was meant to be comforting, you could see the sadness behind it as she realized that it was your fathers. A great man and king, one who died in a war against a group of rebels. It was the only thing left of him, something he gave to you as a promise before he left and one that you kept until now.
"You look beautiful." Your mother gave a final smile before the carriage came to a stop and she was the first to leave. You followed her, smiling as you saw the castle before you and more important the beautiful garden. Then you spotted a beautiful horse galloping through the garden... and right your way? Right behind the horse was a man, stumbling through the bushes as he tried to catch up with the white horse. So you stepped in, running to the horse and swiftly grabbing its reins. It reared upwards, front legs kicking before landing on the ground again. With a loud sigh, the horse had finally calmed down and pushed its head to you.
"Such a good-" A quick look confirmed that it was "-girl. Such a good girl." You spoke softly, patting the horses nose softly as you waited for the man to return to the horses' side. When he did, you gladly handed the reins back to him.
"Thank you-" He took a deep breath as he took the reins from you, looking at the horse with an accusing look before pointing a finger at her. Surprisingly, he started scolding the horse and you could only giggle as you realized that the horses' name Apple. Your mother called for you and you were quick to follow her, but the smile of the stable boy didn't leave your mind.
The ball was nice, but you couldn't really enjoy it thanks to the tight corset and the heavy dress. You could barely eat anything, the drink in your hand was untouched and your head was going to burst because of the loud nobles that kept trying to talk to you. Nonetheless, you were gladly present. All because of the stable boy that you saw before. He stood in a group at the back, one of which you recognized as a royal guard that guided you in the palace earlier. His smile was still present, maybe even brighter than before, and he seemed to be happy to chat to others. It was the only reason that you stayed here, but you still remained next to the food stands. Much to your mother's dismay of course, she much rather have you talking and socializing to find a husband. Too focused on your thoughts, you didn't notice it when the stable boy looked your way and his eyes connected to yours. It was only when he waved that you were snapped out your trance, awkwardly waving back to the man. With one more bright smile, the man turned away again to talk to his group. You let your hand lower before looking around one more time before grabbing a final treat and leaving the hall. You wandered outside, taking small bites from your snack until you reached a certain spot.
"Hello again." You greeted Appel with a smile, finishing your snack before getting closer to the mare. The white creature neighed loudly, throwing her head up before stepping closer to you. The mare pushed her head in your arms and you started petting her nose softly in return, weaving your other hand through her manes. Then Apple grabbed you, teeth softly pulling at your sleeve until you entered the stable. In the back corner laid a foal, looking a bit too thin and tired to be healthy. You got closer, with permission of Apple of course, and kneeled down before gently taking the foal's head in your hands.
"Why are you so down? You have to be healthy and happy for your mom." You spoke and the little foal seemed to respond, blinking at you before laying its head down on your lap. You petted its neck softly, whispering words of encouragement as you tried to make it relax.
"He's been sick for awhile." A voice spoke and you turned your head to see the stable boys, leaning on the fence while softly patting Apple's nose. You looked back at the foal, a bit sad to realize that such a beautiful and innocent creature was sick this early in its life.
"Is there anything that can help him?" You asked, but the stable boy just shook his head and you could spot the sadness behind his gaze easily. A sad look, but also one of acceptance. You looked at the foal again before leaning down, kissing its head before softly laying him down in the hay again. With that you got up, petting Apple a final time before looking at the stable boy again.
"I'm (Y/n)." "Seokmin, pleasure my lady." He spoke, taking your hand and softly kissing the back of it as he bowed. Your eyes widened slightly, after all it was not your culture to do so. Seokmin didn't notice the awkwardness, but instead he gave another bright smile after standing up straight.
"Will he survive?" "We're working on it, but for now there isn't much hope yet." He spoke as he looked back at the foal, sighing softly.
"Have you tried yarrow?" You asked, making Seokmin shake his head. "It doesn't grow here..." He said and you frowned before moving your hand to go to your hair, pulling out a single flower from your hair. You were glad that your mother had insisted in wearing flowers in your hair like she did, because now you had a dozen of different flowers in your hair and this included yarrow. Holding it out with a smile, you handed it to Seokmin along with two others ones.
"Do you always carry flower in your hair?" He asked with a light chuckle, taking the flowers nonetheless before carefully placing them in a bag near the stable. Then he turned back to you.
"Would you like to dance?" He asked, extending his hand to you and you couldn't help but take it. "Without music?" "I'll make some then." He smiled again before softly humming a tune as he pulled you closer into a waltz. His humming escalated, soon enough his voice was singing a tune that you hadn't heard before.
Nonetheless, it was beautiful and you found yourself dancing to it for hours.
"Seokmin!" Although you yelled loudly, the man didn't seem to budge to your voice and instead he just continued on with his work. You could see that he was humming a tune, which might have been the reason that he didn't hear you. So you stepped closer to the man, tapping his shoulder. In an instant, he jumped and turned to face you with a shocked expression that quickly turned into a smile.
"Hello again!" "You didn't hear me, did you?" You asked, to which he shook his head and pointed at his right ear. He was quick to explain that he was deaf in his right ear and you nodded at the man, a bit surprised by the sudden confession. Then you turned to horse that Seokmin was cleaning, a brown stallion with a white mane. You moved a bit closer, softly petting the horse before noticing the saddle laying ready.
"You're going to go horseback riding?" You asked and Seokmin nodded as he got ready to lift the saddle. Now you knew that saddles didn't weigh too much, but they were very unhandy to lift and the rolled up sleeves didn't hide the muscles that Seokmin had. So you took a look, you didn't care if it was improper.
"Want to join me?" He asked and you looked up before nodding, following Seokmin's lead as he appointed a horse for you. A mare, beautiful black coat and black manes.
"Her name is Pine. She loves running, so I hope you don't mind going fast." Seokmin said before picking up the saddle that was meant for Pine. You shook your head, taking the saddle from his arms before placing it on Pine's back yourself. With a soft pat on the mare's nose, you led her out of her stable after putting on the bridle. Seokmin followed you, guiding you to an open field before climbing on his own horse. You followed his lead, lifting yourself on the saddle before making sure that you were comfortable. Let's just say that riding with a dress wasn't as comfortable as it often looked.
"Let's go!" You exclaimed before guiding Pine into a gallop, which the mare happily did. You were a bit surprised with how fast she was, but you could only laugh after a few seconds. The sun on your skin and the wind in your face, feelings that you missed dearly since you weren't allowed to ride this fast. Seokmin was on your right, trying to catch up with a loud laugh booming through the fields. You rode for awhile, not too long to exhaust the horses too much and you paused halfway to rest a bit. The horses were left to graze around a bit while you laid in the grass.
"Thank you for this. I can't remember the last time that I went on a ride for fun." You said and Seokmin sat up, smile lessening a bit.
"It must be lonely, stuck in the palace all day... Not even allowed to go out for fun." He spoke, his voice a bit too soft to hear. You did hear him of course, but you didn't really know how to respond to him. He was right, it was lonely. Of course, you weren't really alone. Your elder sister and younger brothers were always around, but your older sister had moved to the estate of her husband and the eldest of your younger brothers was getting ready to be king. Your other brothers were a bit too young to constantly hang out with, so it often left you with just yourself.
"I'll enjoy today even more then." You replied, trying your best to smile at him before simply closing your eyes. You just listened as Seokmin started humming again, along with a soft breeze that flew through the leaves. Soon enough, you were lulled into a deep sleep.
You woke up when the sun was getting ready to set. You were covered with a jacket, one that you quickly recognized as Seokmin's. Sitting up, you looked around to find the man. He stood by the horses, talking to them in a sweet and gentle voice. You stared at the man, you couldn't help yourself.
The way that the sun reflected off of his skin and hair made him look like he was glowing, practically looking like a painting come to life. He was attractive, you were sure that he knew this as well, and you couldn't help but crush on him. Then again, that was the only thing you could do.
"You're awake! We should go back, it's getting quite late." He stated, helping you up before taking the jacket from you. You nodded before your eyes widened.
"I had a meeting." With a curse, you quickly pulled yourself up on Frost's back before racing off. Seokmin stared as you raced off before quickly following you. Once you arrived, you quickly hopped off and started to untie the saddle.
"Go, I'll do it." Seokmin interrupted, taking over and you thanked him before speeding off. He smiled again before focusing on the task at hand. When the saddles were put away and cleaned, Seokmin started to brush down both horses while trying to get you out of his head.
"Seokmin! Let's go, we're going to the tavern." Mingyu passed by, pulling back the stable boy with a broad grin. Seokmin looked at him before agreeing, following him after putting his stuff away.
He needed a drink to clear his head.
"What?" "Please, he's screaming everytime someone touches him and he keeps mumbling your name." It was a weird request from Seungcheol, you didn't think that the future king would ever ask you to pick up one of his drunk friends nor did you ever think that you would have to pick up a drunk Seokmin. You agreed nonetheless. You didn't know why Seokmin chose to drink so much, but you could hardly leave him to sleep in a tavern. So you followed Seungcheol into the woods, something that you would fear as an attempted murder if it wasn't Seungcheol, until you reached a clearing. Only when you crossed some kind of border, did a tavern suddenly appear. You entered, surprised at the various kind of people that were inside. All of them were happily drinking, talking and some even dancing around. Seokmin was easily spotted, laying with his head on the table and the people around him were just laughing and teasing him. You approached him carefully, tapping his shoulder. In a second, he sits up and looks at you before smiling brightly as he realized who you were. His smile was almost comical as he threw his arms around your waist, pressing his face against your stomach with a loud sigh. The group around you fell silent, watching as Seokmin pushed his head in your hands while whining as you scratched his head, softly tugging at the locks of his hair.
"Why don't we go home, huh?" You asked, to which Seokmin only whined loudly again before reluctantly agreeing with you. He got up immediatley, stumbling badly before regaining his balance for about three seconds. Then he fell again, dropping to his knees if it wasn't for you catching him. Now, you often prided yourself in your strength and you'd never call yourself weak in any way. However, catching Seokmin's full weight in a matter of seconds was a challenge for you, almost falling down with him while doing so. Seokmin was giggling loudly, sounding much like a maniac as he tried and failed to stand up straight. You guided one of his arms to lay over your shoulder before pulling him up.
"Try no to fall, huh?" You spoke before waving goodbye to the others, an action that Seokmin loudly followed, before you walked out of the tavern. Luckily, Seokmin had decided that he wanted to walk instead of hanging off of you. You realized halfway that you probably shouldn't enter with him through the front gate, so you walked to the back gates. Seokmin had not shut up since leaving the tavern, softly humming and mumbling all the way to the castle. You found it quite hilarious to see, giggling at every word that came from Seokmin's mouth.
"Let's visit Apple!" Seokmin suddenly diverted from the path, pulling you along with him to the stables. You stumbled along with him, letting go off him in the process. He tripped, but he only laughed as he landed before getting up again. Anyone who saw this without context, would think he was insane. You just smiled as you followed him. Apple was still awake, surprisingly, and she was quick to react to Seokmin, prancing his way happily. Seokmin leaned on the fence, patting Apple's nose softly and it seemed as if he had sobered up in a second.
"What should I do?" Seokmin talked to Apple in a soft voice, sounding rather sad as he did. He had clearly forgotten about you, rambling on to Apple without a care in the world.
"Why would I fall for a princess?" He whined loudly, certainly loud enough for you to hear him. Your smile dropped, staring at the man before you in shock.
You didn't bother waiting for him to realize that you were in fact still there.
Seokmin groaned loudly as he put down the boxes, slightly annoyed that he agreed to this task for Jeonghan. He assumed that it was one or two boxes, yet now he had already moved ten boxes or so and he still wasn't finished.
"You don't have to get the rest, I'll do it." Wonwoo spoke, putting down his own boxes without a sweat. Seokmin thanked him before standing up straight, stretching his back and hissing as it popped softly. He sighed softly before flinching when he suddenly spotted you.
You were walking alongside Flora, arms linked as you talked happily. You were dressed in a beautiful blue gown, decorated with jewels and gems. You wore a small crown, which was also covered in small gems while chains cascaded down from your crown and over your hair. It was the second time that Seokmin saw you dressed like that and he couldn't stop his heart from beating faster. It was almost like his heart was ready to jump from his chest, something that Wonwoo clearly noticed.
"Hey, Flora! Hello, princess." Wonwoo greeted you guys with a smile, one that Seokmin recognized more as a teasing smirk. You and Flora reacted quickly, Flora sending a smile their way while you just bowed your head. When you looked at Seokmin, you were quick to look away again. Seokmin couldn't blame you, he remembered well enough what he had said yesterday evening. It was awkward, he never expected to confess to you while drunk.
It was a forbidden love, he knew that just like you, and thus he didn't find it weird for you to avoid him after. Even then, however, it still hurt immensely.
You stalked off again with Flora, continuing your conversation and leaving a sad Seokmin behind with Wonwoo. Wonwoo looked at his friend with a slightly concerning look, not really knowing what to say to him. He didn't get a chance either as Seokmin stomped off to get more of the boxes.
"God, this is infuriating."
"Dear?" Your mother entered your room, voice concerned as she spotted you on your bed. You were packing, but right now you were frozen while doing so. You didn't want to leave, you really didn't want to and yet you have no choice.
"What's wrong?" She sat beside you, pushing down your hands and placing the dress in your hands down. You sighed before looking at her, which made her smile.
"I know that look." She grabbed your face with her hands as she smiled brightly. "You're in love, aren't you?" She asked and you nodded at her, pouting as she squished your face. Your mother suddenly started giggling before letting go of you and smiling teasingly.
"So, who is it?" She asked and your eyes widened slightly before you smiled. Your rant started quickly, telling her everything and watching the smile on her face brighten by the second. You didn't know how long you ranted about Seokmin, but your mother didn't seem to care for the time until someone came to get you for dinner.
"Let's go, we can continue later." Your mother winked at you before following the butler and you quickly followed her, softly pushing her with a smile. You greeted everyone at the table with a smile before sitting down, smiling at Flora who sat beside you. Your mother was quick to start a conversation with the former king and queen as well as Seungcheol, mostly about politics and such. Not your thing, but you listened nonetheless as you ate.
"May my daughter reside in your kingdom?" The question was sudden, but you heard it loud and clear. Your fork dropped from surprise, staring at your mother in shock while Seungcheol easily agreed.
"If she wishes too, she is welcome to stay here. We can prepare a permanent room for her." He spoke and your mother smiled before looking at you innocently. You closed your mouth, softly sighing before thanking Seungcheol for his offer.
"But may I ask why?" "Oh, she fell in love with that stable boy." Your mom was too blunt, your face flushed as you realized that your mom basically just told everyone that you liked Seokmin. The smirk on Seungcheol and the grin on Flora's face said enough for you to hide your face from embarrassment. The conversation steered back to political stuff that didn't interest you much, so you took the chance to excuse yourself from the room.
"Seokmin's in the tavern today!" Seungcheol called and you turned, glaring at him before stomping off while ignoring the laughs from the room. You went to your room, quick to take off the uncomfortable dress you wore and changing into a more comfortable one. The jewels you wore were also discarded quickly, now laying on your desk instead. With a sigh, you looked outside before groaning. Your heart and head were screaming at you to go to the tavern, to see Seokmin and tell him that you were staying.
So you went, ignoring the nerves that creeped up.
"Please~" Hoshi whined loudly as he listened to Seokmin, who was still sulking. Jeonghan just reached over Ziva and ruffled Seokmin's hair with a chuckle, to which Seokmin just groaned.
"I can't help it! You guys get to be with the people you love, so why can't I?" His voice was loud, anyone could listen to him without even trying to.
"You love her? Didn't you meet her just a few days ago?" Minghao joined the conversation, raising an eyebrow at his friends antics while Hoshi just grinned.
"Was it love at first sight?" Hoshi's voice was clearly teasing him, but Seokmin didn't care for it as he replied with a loud yes. Hoshi's grinned like a cheshire cat before looking at you, knowingly getting Seokmin to confess as you had approached the table. Seokmin frowned before turning his head, face turning red as he saw you before he started rambling loudly. You stopped him by grabbing his face and kissing him, just a short peck to shut him up. It worked, but a bit too well as Seokmin's brain just shut off. When he rebooted, his eyes widened as he stared at you. He shot up from his seat, grabbing your hand before dragging you outside. You paused somewhere in the forest near the tavern, but the chatter and music were gone.
"Why did you-" "I'm staying." You interrupted him, smiling brightly as you watched Seokmin's expression move from confusion to happiness.
"You are?" His voice sounded happy while his smile grew even brighter. He basically hopped in place, seemingly very excited thanks to the new information. Then he stopped.
"But even then, can we?" He pauses and you nod at him, to which he suddenly hugged you happily and twirled you around. You giggled at his antics, wrapping your arms around his shoulders before softly kissing him once more. He put you down, not breaking the kiss until you pulled back. You smiled once more before sighing.
"We should go back to the tavern." You spoke before waiting for Seokmin to lead to way back. Yet he remained in place, awkwardly looking around before scratching his neck as he looked back at you. You waited, but he didn't move. His next sentence was almost enough for you to strangle him.
"We might be lost..."

Synopsis: Jihoon never thought he'd fall in love, he found the concept appalling. Yet here he was, falling for someone and he hates every second of it.
Pairing: Lee Jihoon x fem!reader Word Count: 2.3k words
The lake was larger than Jihoon had expected, the water a light blueish green and the plants surrounding it seemed to glow. It was a recommended spot for finding cultivated plants, the lake itself magic and thus an excellent spot for the alchemist to search around. Another plus was the quietness, something Jihoon loved and yet he could never really enjoy it. He loved his friends, they were like his family when his actual one didn't want him, but they were loud. Too loud... Then again, that is kind of excited of 11 full grown men and the fairy, Chan.
"Alright, now where do I fi-Ah!" Jihoon let out a loud yelp as he turned around, face to face with a large creature. It's head was larger than his whole body and the (e/c) colored eyes were staring him down like he was vermin. The creature looked familiar, the seaweed-like hair and the greenish color of its body indicated that it lived in the lake itself. Falling down on his butt, Jihoon could only stare at the creature in disbelief The kelpie huffed at him, water hitting Jihoon in the face and wetting his clothes and books. Now, Jihoon didn't mind water at all. But his books? Those were precious to him, mostly full of his own work and notes that took him years to write and create. So with an angry huff of his own, he got up and pointed an accusing finger at the creature.
"You!" He stopped, not knowing what on earth he should say. He wasn't even sure if the creature would understand him, but he tried anyway. "Do you know how long it took to make these? You, you insolent-" Another huff of the kelpie and Jihoon screamed in annoyance, dropping back to the ground on his knees. He assumed that he was semi-lucky that his own notebook was fine, but the book he had been holding was also full on notes of how to use certain flowers and why. Things that he needed years for to figure out and certainly didn't know of the top of his head what he had written down in those years. Glancing up again, Jihoon was only met with an empty lake again and no sign of the creature from before. Not knowing out of his head which plants he needed and with the list gone, Jihoon decided that returning to the palace was the best idea. Even with the warm weather, Jihoon didn't feel like catching a cold. So he returned to the palace with all of his books, grumbling on and on about how he would have the kelpie's head on a stick next time.
The next time Jihoon returned, it was with magic protection spells on all of his books and an extra set of clothing just to be sure. However, the kelpie was no where in sight. Instead, only a bunch of flowers laid on the spot where Jihoon stood last time. Looking at the flowers for awhile, Jihoon was quick to realize that those were the flowers that he needed the last time. They seemed fresh, but how they were was a mystery. It had been a week and a half since Jihoon came here, but maybe cultivated flowers didn't wilt. Jihoon would have to experiment a bit to find out, he had never used them before.
"Are they the right ones?" For the second time here, Jihoon screamed loudly as he jumped back from where the voice came and due to this he stumbled before falling back into the water. His lungs were empty, no air there for when he fell and he quickly swam back up to catch some air. When he resurfaced, he was met with some curious eyes.
"Sorry..." You apologized as you held out your hand, pulling the mystery man from the water with a sheepish grin. Jihoon grumbled again, realizing that he was now soaked and he did not bring a fresh pair of underwear. So for the second time, he'd have to return home in wet clothes. Speaking of clothes, Jihoon soon enough noticed that you were none. Your body was covered with your hair, long locks that turned green near the end of the strands and thick enough to not be see-through. So Jihoon grabbed his bag and handed you a shirt of his, all while trying to fight of the red flush that started to rise up to his face. You looked confused by his gesture, but took the shirt nonetheless and pulled it on. It was small on you, Jihoon noted, the shirt barely covering your torso. Luckily, you were covered with some sort of skirt from the waist down, one made from what looked like seaweed-
"You're the kelpie!" Jihoon finally figured it out why your eyes looked familiar, the stare now looked kinder and more curious than it had before. You smiled, sharp teeth appearing that almost made Jihoon jump once more. You didn't seem to notice as you leaned closer to the human man and it was then that Jihoon noticed your height. You were taller than him, probably even as tall as Mingyu or even taller. Jihoon didn't know for sure, but he could check if you ever stood up. Almost like reading his thoughts, you stood up to your full height and held out your hand for him. He took it before gulping when he realized that you were a full head taller than him.
"So are they the right ones? I don't know the names that you wrote down since we call them by different names, but I guessed you needed these." You rambled on and Jihoon was instantly reminded of his friends, something that he wasn't sure if it should please or annoy him. A quick glance at the flowers again confirmed that they were right like he first guess, so he gave you a short nod. You gleamed, clapping your hands in slight excitement before picking them up and holding them out to the man before you.
"Thank you..?" It sounded more like a question, but you didn't seem to notice it and instead just smiled brightly once more. With that, you dove back into the water and Jihoon was left in shock of everything that had just happened with flowers still in hand.
Nori was leading the way at this point, Jihoon trying to stop the serpent in doing so but failing miserably. When he told everyone of the mysterious kelpie that he had met, Nori had shown the most interest and basically forced Jihoon to let her join him for the next time. It wasn't like he planned on it, but the flowers he had gotten were already gone due to experiments. Telling the sea serpent to slow down was pointless, it was better to just set her go and make sure that she wouldn't trip over her own feet. When the lake was reached, you were nowhere in sight and Nori let out a disappointed whine.
"Stop whining, you're an adult." Jihoon spoke as he started to search for the flowers he needed, ignoring the whines that kept coming from Nori. The whines stopped soon enough when you reached the surface, looking at both Jihoon and Nori before lowering yourself slightly back into the water until only the top half of your face was only visible. Nori was kind enough to not greet you too loudly, instead she just showed off her own scales and this was enough for you to resurface. Jihoon noticed that you still wore his shirt, although the fabric was soaked and slightly see-through, and he couldn't help but chuckle. Your hair looked different today, not the sea-weed strands like before and rather just normal (h/c) hair. Although you looked normal at first, Jihoon could also spot the tail that floated to the surface and he couldn't help but wonder if that meant that you were still half kelpie underneath the water or not. This was quickly answered said question when you came up from the water with Nori's help, sitting in between the grass while you happily talked to the sea serpent. It didn't take long for him to collect everything, but he dared not to interrupt your conversation.
"Oh, wait! I have something for you." You dove back under the water before resurfacing with something that looked like paper. Notes were scribbled down, a messy form of his language that confused Jihoon slightly.
"I tried my best to copy what you wrote, but I do not know the language besides speaking. I hope you can read it." You said shyly and Jihoon picked up the notes, confused at whatever it was written on before reading it shortly. It looked decent, it was exactly what he wrote and the letters were able to be read. So he thanked you with a nod and you smiled.
"How about joining us to the castle?" Nori asked and you looked at her before looking at the area around you. You'd have to leave all the flowers, they'd wilt or be stolen. Then again, you could relocate closer to the palace. After all, you wanted to join the pair and you wanted to live closer to Nori... and maybe a bit closer to Jihoon as well. You glanced at the man, flinching when you noticed that his eyes were already on yours. Nonetheless, you just nodded in agreement before diving down to gather your stuff. Once done, you followed the two back to the palace.
"Are they growing yet?" Jihoon asked as he reached the pond and you looked up, smiling as you spotted Jihoon before shaking your head.
"They take awhile to grow in a new place, but the palace is placed on magic grounds. It won't take long, don't worry. You look stressed, what's wrong?" You asked and Jihoon shrugged, sitting down. Somehow, throughout the weeks that you had build your home here by the palace, Jihoon had grown closer to you and tended to visit you every single day. Normally, he looked fine but now he looked tired and stressed.
"Work, nothing more. Cheol-hyung needs something and I can't figure out how to make it." Jihoon spoke and you nodded, sitting beside him before giving him a smirk.
"Wanna do something fun then?" You asked, which confused Jihoon. He didn't disagree, instead he just nodded and let you drag him off to the river. Once reached, you dove in and when you resurfaced you were not human looking anymore. Instead, you were in kelpie form. A giant horse that seemed to be made from sea-weed, long strands floating in the water beside you. You neighed, but in Jihoon's head it sounded like you were just asking him to jump in.
Although he had doubts, he followed your order and jumped into the water. It was cold, freezing even with the thick clothes he wore. His hand came in contact with you and he quickly grabbed on, surprised with how warm your body felt compared to the water. Then you started, diving under again and racing in the water before jumping up. The air felt even colder, but even then Jihoon felt excited. It was like he flew, but when he finally felt free in the air you suddenly dived back into the water before going back up. After only 5 jumps, both of you were somewhat exhausted and you were quick to guide the man back to the surface.
"That was awesome!" Jihoon exclaimed and you joined him again, this time human once more. You laid in the grass beside him, chuckling softly before turning your head to watch Jihoon. He looked handsome, hair dripping and his shirt was now see-through like yours. The staring didn't stop, not even when Jihoon looked back at you.
"Thank you, I feel better now." He spoke and you smiled at him before rolling over and leaning above him. He seemed shocked by what you did, but instead of removing yourself from on top of him you just leaned your forehead against his.
Now what Jihoon didn't know, is that it is a way to confess ones love to another for kelpies and thus he didn't return the gesture.
For a few seconds, you were sad until you realized that he was in fact human and not a kelpie. So with an awkward chuckle, you quickly start to explain.
"I like you... That's why I did that, it's a kelpie thing." You speak, your voice a bit softer than it usually was, and Jihoon nodded in understanding. It took a couple of seconds before he realized that you just confessed to him, but when he did he was quick to sit up. With a finger pointed in his own direction, he asked if you meant him for certain to which you nodded with a smile. So Jihoon came closer again and followed your previous action, leaning his forehead against yours while trying to fight back the blush. You giggled, pushing back against his head slightly before pulling back.
"Want to help me plant the rest of the plants?" You asked as you got up, pulling him up with you before guiding him along back to the castle. Now, Jihoon didn't like the outdoors much and plowing through mud didn't seem his thing either. Yet, his answer was clearly against his previous thoughts.
"I can do that, yes." He spoke, surprised by his own words as they rolled off of his tongue. But the smile on your face made it okay, it made his heart skip a beat and his face light up in a red hue.
In the end, not much work got done. Instead, all you did was laugh as Jihoon tried to plant everything and failing miserably. The man didn't have a green thumb, but you did so it was okay. That didn't stop Jihoon's grumbling for you to stop laughing.
