June reading wrap up
In June, I completed six books :)
Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch: I loved this book so much. I bought it on recommendation from my favorite Booktuber Merphy Napier, who gushes over it. The only thing I disliked was the language. It was rather coarse.
Oceans of Mercy by Mallory Ford: I enjoyed this one. Friends to lovers, one of my favorite tropes. The mystery took a back seat to the romance, which wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't a deal breaker.
The Maid in the Mansion by Fiona Grace: I hated this book. It started out okay, but took forever to get to the murder mystery. Once the murder finally did happen, the falsely accused trope made its appearance and I despise that trope. I read one page a day until I finished it because that's all I could stand to read at a time.
No Other Place on Earth by Sheillagh Herrera: I loved this book. It made me cry several times. Sometimes, happy tears, much more often sad tears. A bittersweet, happy ending.
Last of the Mohicans by James F. Cooper: I liked this book okay, but it was way too long. The plot points repeated themselves several times and the characters were too similar and I kept confusing them.
and Thyme to Depart: I loved this book :) A romance story on the side that didn't take away from the mystery, and old house being restored, all fun parts of a good story. The ending made me roll my eyes a bit, as I do not believe in ghosts, but I still enjoyed this one a lot.

Was this one of my favorites of the Duskwalker Bride series?
Yes. 100,000,000%
I love me some grumpy/sunshine and some of the banter between Rae and Merikh got me laughing out loud
10/10, would recommend, absolutely and completely

"Inferno" (Dan Brown)
"The Last Juror" (John Grisham)

Gonna read only a few books this month because the last quarter of school just began and I'm currently guilty of stacking unfinished school work.

Born on this day, 10 June 1921: HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. 📚 Philip, Prince of Greece – The Duke of Edinburgh's Early Life and the Greek Succession by Constantinos Lagos and John Carr. ‘This well-informed and easily-readable book studies in depth the Greek royal family from 1864 to the 1970s and is full of interesting and little known details. Philip's own story from birth to his marriage to the then Princess Elizabeth is told with compassion and honesty. This book is a great tribute to a great man.’ ~Robin, @NetGalley ‘Highly recommend for students of history who are interested in Greek history and royal history.’ ~Diana, NetGalley ‘A captivating look at Prince Philip's life prior to his marriage to Princess Elizabeth in 1947 especially his place within the Greek royal family and his various relationships within the vast network of European monarchies. From his parents' disastrous relationship to the political upheavals that profoundly affected the Greek royals after WWI, this compelling biography follows the future Duke of Edinburgh's arduous move from childhood to adulthood. This is also a very detailed look at European monarchies and their complex links and relationships all the way through WWII. This wonderful book should definitely appeal to all the readers interested in serious royal "politics" and genealogical researches.’ ~Jean Luc, NetGalley • #OnThisDay #OTD #OTDIH #Biography #OnThisDayInHistory #PrincePhilip #DukeOfEdinburgh #100YearsOn #100Years #RoyalHistory #RoyalFamily #Royals #GreekHistory #History #BritishMonarchy #NewBook #NewReleases #19thCentury #20thCentury #JuneReads #EuropeanHistory #SpringReads #Bookstagram #SpringNewTitles #Hardback #HistoryBooks #NonFiction #PenAndSword #PenAndSwordBooks (at Pen and Sword Books) https://www.instagram.com/p/CP8hp41rh-6/?utm_medium=tumblr

June 13th, 2020 || 📚The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta 📚 . I have just finished The Black Flamingo and it was just what I needed. A wonderful coming of age story which, without shying away from tackling important issues, leaves you with a big smile on your face. I am not one to read novels written in verse, for whatever reason I always felt the format would not be for me: I was wrong. I also absolutely loved Dean Atta’s prose and how he explored Michael’s identity. . I haven’t been able to focus on my reading lately and although I am making progress on White Rage and Stamped from the Beginning, I also needed something that would make me smile and The Black Flamingo provided that. I think it’s also important to focus on joyful books written by BIPOC authors. . What have you been reading lately? • • • • #theblackflamingo #deanatta #novelinverse #bipocauthors #queerreads #ownvoices #adayinbooklandreviews #junereads #unitedbookstagram #bookstagrammersunite #readersofinstagram #recentreads #recentlyread #readeveryday https://www.instagram.com/p/CBX-siVq9JT/?igshid=14h5m8o03kyqp

🌺Book Review🌺 To All the Boys I've Loved Before | Jenny Han Published: Simon & Shuster | Pages: 355 | My Rating: 3.75 What to say... what to say. I can understand that Laura Jean would miss her sister but the pedestal she had Margo on was a little much for me. Also, Peter... he didn’t mesh with me in the beginning. Still kiiiinda doesn’t. I watched the movies so I kinda knew what I was in for and the differences were fine. I mean the main points got across anyways. This was interesting. I tried reading this last year and it did not work at all but I’m glad exactly a year later I was able to pick it up and finish it! Also, I was not expecting for Kitty to be so young. Outside of that, I really did like it! And talking with @chubbychapters it made me realize how well Peter and LJ go together. So it was a good book. I didn’t love it, but I for sure liked it, I’ve always rewatched the movie a billion times. 😂 🌺 Hashtags: #bookstagram #yabooks #bookdragon #bookaholic #bookalicious #bookcover #bookishlife #bookreview #bookishlytaken #Junereads #bookcommunity #instabooks #booksbooksbooks #toalltheboys #toalltheboysivelovedbefore #JennyHan #bookishlife #yacontemporary #yaromance https://www.instagram.com/p/CCTqGTuArjq/?igshid=1vtsiwtbdwyqx

🌻Happy June!🌻 . Hello, everyone! It’s finally June, the month I love most because my birthday is right around the corner!😇 How exciting!! My schedule this month is (for once) fully packed with lots of bookish stuff, including some promised book mails/book boxes/a giveaway prize.☺️ Besides, I just finished taking my last test for now and though I’m pretty anxious about the result, I’m still gonna do some reading as much as possible. 😉 . My current read is CARAVAL by Stephanie Garber and I’m totally hooked even when I’m only a few pages in!!! 🙌🏼 By the way, most of my birthday book hauls have arrived but I want to wait a couple more days before sharing them with you. So stay tuned!💝 . 📚What does reading mean to you? A kind of solitude? An escape? A safe haven? I used to think reading is an escape from reality but I start to realize that it’s actually a part of my life. It doesn’t matter if I really read every single day, the simple concept of reading never fails to make my day.🤓 . Have a fabulous week, guys!🥂 . #bookstagram #bookbloggers #bookreviewers #amreading #currentlyreading #caraval #stephaniegarber #readersforlife #bookworms #booklovers #booklove #bookish #reading #lifeupdates #junereads #summerreads #bookmarks https://www.instagram.com/p/ByPpyxggyVo/?igshid=te9acktln8s8

The sun is also a star
By: Nicola Yoon
Rating: 4/5
This book is one of the diverse book in the YA genre. It's shows the different lives and perspective of the different characters even the side characters. It explains that every decision has a greater impact to everyone's lives around you. And love is inevitable.
I would recommend.
