The almost overnight surge in electricity demand from data centers is now outstripping the available power supply in many parts of the world, according to interviews with data center operators, energy providers and tech executives. That dynamic is leading to years-long waits for businesses to access the grid as well as growing concerns of outages and price increases for those living in the densest data center markets. The dramatic increase in power demands from Silicon Valley’s growth-at-all-costs approach to AI also threatens to upend the energy transition plans of entire nations and the clean energy goals of trillion-dollar tech companies. In some countries, including Saudi Arabia, Ireland and Malaysia, the energy required to run all the data centers they plan to build at full capacity exceeds the available supply of renewable energy, according to a Bloomberg analysis of the latest available data. By one official estimate, Sweden could see power demand from data centers roughly double over the course of this decade — and then double again by 2040. In the UK, AI is expected to suck up 500% more energy over the next decade. Nesting Challenge Board - a permanent addition to the game, so its quests (and rewards) will remain in the game even after the Season ends.

After completing all the challenges in a tree, several props will be available to unlock: an instrument stand, a music player, and a stone figurine.

Instrument stand: Use it to set out any one instrument from your closet to play. If it’s placed in an area where other players can interact with it, they can play the instrument you set out!

Music player: Plays various pieces of music that are in the game. There are several “channels” that have their own musical themes.

Stone figurine: A decorative figure that can wear any hairstyle, hats, neck items, or capes you have in your closet. (This is a decorative item only; it will not allow players to copy and wear the same items that the stone figurine is wearing.)

Friends' Nest Preview Feature - a new feature that we’re hoping will spark inspiration for everyone: an option in your Nest menu to view other Nests. You’ll be able to “scroll” through a preview of these Nests that favors ones your friends have made while also showing Nests that other players have made too. It’s just a preview, though, so you won’t see anyone in this view, and other players won’t see anyone who might be viewing their Nest through this feature either.

I have a headcanon that the older members (Oliver, zack, Paula) are neurodivergent because they were shipped at a young age and probably didn’t do well at standardized testing of grand valley because they have been at goldy pond for years

My guesses:

Without exact dates, the ages and years might be a bit off because I'm mostly focusing on their birth years, but within a year of error hopefully for everyone except Sandy and Violet, for whom I have the least amount of information to go off of so it's just personal vibes.

Reasoning under the cut:

Oliver, Paula, and Zack have been a part of the most recent incarnation of the Goldy Pond Resistance the longest, with Oliver being there the longest out of the three per the chapter 69 extra. We also see flashbacks of them together.

From here, all we have to go on is the "Two Wills" story of the third light novel that focuses on Gillian and Nigel.

In this conversation with Emma on January 29, 2046, Nigel says it took him eight years to create one of the guns they use in their plan.

I'm assuming the ages provided in the extras are their ages on the day they met Emma, so a few months later on March 27 of that year Nigel turns seventeen. 2045 (when he's sixteen) minus eight is 2037, when he's eight years old.

Depending on how long it took Oliver and companions to recognize his technical knowledge, which probably wasn't more than a few hunts in.

Similar to how it didn't take long for Gillian's sister to be recruited for the cause.

Gillian and Nigel arrived at Goldy Pond within a few days of each other, if not on the same day, for the two of them, Nigel's younger sister Lala, and Emilia to all experience their first hunt together. Gillian is a year younger than Nigel, so she's shipped to Goldy Pond when she's seven.

"A boy a little older than [Nigel]" is referring to Oliver, who's already shown an aptitude for leadership for him to start taking on the duty of announcements to the new arrivals, couldn't have been there for too much longer than Nigel, so my guess is he arrived at Goldy Pond in 2036 prior to his October 25 birthday when he turned eight.

Sonya is also shown to have arrived before Nigel and Gillian, yet she arrived after Oliver, Paula, and Zack, as she's not featured in any of those early flashbacks with them, so my guess is she also arrived in the first half of 2037 before she turned nine on June 3 of that year.

This only thing that throws me off with all this is this page from chapter 77 because of how small and young Lala looks at the time of her death while Nigel looks like he's the same as he does in the present.

And shortly after she's murdered is when Gillian and Nigel go off on their own to try and kill Luce with an unfinished gun and fail, but the description makes it sound like it's near completion with the damage it's able to do to Luce's mask. It's hard to say, but with the light novel being published in October 2020 and the Goldy Pond arc being published in 2018, it's possible they retconned Lala into being older, or that there was actually a much larger gap between then and Nigel finally perfecting the weapon and ammunition.

But whenever this incident occurs, Sandy has also been around long enough to be integrated into the Resistance.

As this is the only time he's mentioned throughout the entire light novel. Violet's only mentioned during the conversations in the present day when Emma's talking to Gillian and Nigel about their pasts, so it seems safe to say she's the newest member of the Resistance after Pepe and has probably been with them for at least a year, so she was shipped out in 2044 at the latest.

My arbitrary designation for her shipment is sometime between 2042 and 2044 because of my personal headcanon that she only realized she was a trans girl after being shipped out, but she's had enough time to settle into her identity in her new environment surrounded by the new friends who support her. With the farms being symbols of oppression, I like the symbolism of kids coming into themselves once they've been removed from the farm environments they grew up in when they were unaware of the reality of their world.

Your headcanon of neurodivergence being a factor in determining which kids are shipped out early before 17 at Grand Valley could also fall into this, which I think is cool. Thrown away due to narrow, arbitrary metrics of success, and becoming the menace that dismantles them thanks to the very reasons they were discarded.

Back to Sandy, he has to arrive sometime before Violet, so 2040 when he's 12. Just because.

Finally, there's Adam, who was at Lambda at least until November 2045 because he sees Norman there.

But he has to have been at Goldy Pond for a bit for him to become the doorman for the resistance, so he was probably sent there in November or December of 2045.

Lambda 7214 did not exist fifteen years ago when James left this message, and the timeline in the mystic code book doesn't provide us with a date for when it was completed, though it's probably in the 2030s.

With the experiments that take place at Lambda resulting in Hayato and Jin being born two days before Conny's shipment on October 12, 2045, and having them look as old as teenagers in October 2047 when Emma's group meets them, Adam could be anywhere from one to fourteen when he arrives at Goldy Pond. I go with eleven if I'm indulging in the Adam and Norman are twins theory.

Attempted Murder, Poessision of an Illeagal Weapon

In May 2020, a teenage couple from Florida were arrested on attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting the young woman's former boyfriend in the face.

Kayla Rittenhouse, 18, and Blayke Morris, 17, both were taken into custody.

Besides the attempted murder charge, Morris also faces additional counts of possession of a short barrel shotgun and possession of a firearm by a minor.

According to a statement from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home at around 6.30am after receiving reports of a shooting.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Rittenhouse’s ex-boyfriend, aged 21, arrived at her home that morning to reconcile with her and ‘settle some personal differences’ with her new boyfriend, Morris.

The victim was standing in the driveway of Rittenhouse’s home and speaking to her from 20 feet away when Morris, who was said to be 'laying in wait' behind a wheeled trash can, emerged from his hiding place brandishing a sawed-off shotgun and opened fire on his romantic rival.

The round struck the victim in the face, inflicting a serous injury. He was rushed to a area hospital.

According to an arrest report, the victim's father was sitting in his car parked outside Rittenhouse's home and witnessed his son getting shot.

The woman's relatives, including her grandmother and sister, were also present at the scene at the time of the confrontation. 

When interviewed by investigators, Morris claimed that the victim had made threats prior to the incident.

Morris also told the cops that Rittenhouse knew that he had bought the sawed-off shotgun, and that she told him if her ex-boyfriend came onto the property 'to shoot him.'

Video recorded on Rittenhouse's cellphone captured a portion of her exchange with her ex-boyfriend leading up to the shooting. In it, the victim told the teen that he wanted to reconcile with her and 'did not wish to harm her.'  

According to the police report, when Morris emerged from his hiding place armed with the shotgun, the victim told him, 'Oh, you're gonna shoot me?' and took his hands out of his pockets. He had nothing in his hands.

When the gunshot went off, striking the victim in the face, he was standing 25 feet away from Morris and 20 feet away from Rittenhouse.

The arrest report stated that the 18-year-old girl was 'not being threatened by the victim...', meaning that 'there was no legitimate claim of self-defense' by either Rittenhouse or Morris.  

After more than a year of proceedings, Morris was convicted in June 2021. No charges were filed against Rittenhouse.

I CAN'T BELIEVE. I HAVE NEVER DICTATED. THE ONE OBJECTIVE REASON TO HATE CHALLENGING ATOLL.

challenging atoll is the zone 1 subrealm. so of the areas you can access when you first start playing jtoh, you have ring 1, forgor ridge, zone 1, and challenging atoll. these are the pivotal areas because these are your only choices to get enough tower points to get to ring 2/zone 2 and advance in the game. paradise atoll should be a beginner friendly area with a bunch of towers to choose from so you can get tower points if you don't like the offerings in z1(/r1/fr). and yet it blatantly fails. besides somm all of these towers. are not for beginners. one hard. two difficults. MAYBE. but the players we are talking about here aren't the ones who can beat difficults or even hards, they are the ones who need easys and mediums to deal with, and paradise atoll has almost ZERO. ONE. THAT'S IT.

and yeah sure it's labeled as a non beginner friendly area, but that doesn't solve the problem! beginner players of jtoh are notorious for playing towers harder than they can beat! notoriously, they first go into tots or cols not understanding how hard it's going to be, see the first jumps are too hard for them, and leave! this is constantly talked about! it's silly to assume a simple warning can fix it.

but that isn't even the main thing i'm worried about here, it's getting enough points to advance through the game, my problem is progression. there are already so few towers to play to progress farther. subrealms are important if you want more variety than the old towers in r1/z1. the easys, mediums, and hards in zone 1 are zero disturbances (good tower for beginners, introduces them to cos), tophat (i'm not gonna label all of these bc i'm kind of eo and idk how beginners actually like them), atlantic depths (spam jumps iirc, but i mean it's a medium), hands sweating (i did not like this one.), peace (it's basically just tohs iirc? the fakeout at the end is actually stupid tbh), and mirrored hecc (this took me a while to beat as well). so count them up that's six. however the requirements for zone 2 are 4 positive energy (towers = 1, steeples = 0.5), and 1+ hard tower beaten. variety is important in case you don't like some of these towers, which you probably don't! it's zone 1! one of the worst zones! and, i didn't like any of the hards! so we need variety here!

the OTHER thing is just. not being a beginner friendly area. as one of the first areas. is so SILLY. WHY

and if you know the pa origin, meant to be an event, this makes a bit more sense. it was never intended to be a beginner area. however it's still. SILLY. WHY? WHY CAN'T THEY JUST MAKE A BEGINNER SUBREALM THAT'S GOOD? goe is the PERFECT example of a subrealm, not only in general (it's my favorite subrealm cause everything in it is at least 5/10), but for a beginner subrealm. it has so many easy friendly picks! why can't we just have more goe! please. please. i want better subrealms theyre all kind of annoying except goe which is my heart and mind and soul

pa contributes to the whole thing of, jtoh is not easy to get into at all, and the progression is actively hostile. and ik theyre releasing purgatorio in probably june 2040 because you know how jtoh devs are but. STILL. INSANE.

it's funny how things often go; one day, you're breaking up with someone you really care about because you don't have the time to be with them, and the next thing you know, you're arriving at your usual secluded spot in the restaurant closest to her work, ready to meet up for your monthly lunch together. it went to show, she figured, that they had made the right choice; things just worked better for them as friends, the universe itself seemed to prefer it that way. and though Yara wasn't a superstitious woman, who was she to argue with the results?

niche dr has taken over my every waking thought but it’s the most adorable one ever omg. so, it’s a Lost In Space DR. for those of you who’ve never seen it, basically (the Netflix version) revolves around a broken family of five navigating their place in a space-colonist mission gone awry by the introduction of evil alien robots.

Set in the late 2040s, Estranged Patriarch John Robinson- a soldier who’d neglected his family in favor of service, now with them aboard the Resolute, a huge, long-distance space travel vessel with technology that can transport humans over four light years (currently 70k+ years away with modern technology) away in just around 3 months. Matriarch and honestly the family’s primary parent for the first half of season one, Maureen Robinson- a hyper-intelligent engineer who designed the personal spaceships (called Jupiters) that the colonists on board the Resolute call home. Oldest daughter Judy Robinson- a doctor, despite only being 18 years old as of season one, who enjoys running and harbors a bit of resentment towards her adoptive father John for leaving the family for service. Middle child Penny Robinson- often the “worst” of the family, but ultimately proves her worth time and time again by thinking up creative ways to solve hard problems, she is emotional and compassionate, while ultimately being less nerdy and know-it-all than the rest of her family, and she also enjoys writing and authors a book based off of their travels. And, youngest and only son, Will Robinson. A child with issues regulating his anxiety, with a heart maybe too big for his body, he rescues and befriends an 8 foot tall killer robot that he tames and helps learn the intricacies of humanity and friendship. Additionally to the family there are three additional main characters. Robot, Will’s best friend- who attacked the Resolute and resulted in the family getting “Lost In Space,” who changes his ways and does anything to protect his friend and newly found family. Dr. Smith, real name June Harris, a criminal stowaway who’s running from her past and will do anything to keep herself ahead, but ultimately has a heart and learns to do the right thing when it comes down to it. And, finally, mechanic Don West, a former orphan who’s made several routine trips to the colony on Alpha Centauri, the planet the Resolute was headed towards when it got attacked, but he abandons his post to save himself when the initial attack happens- though, he has a heart of gold and serves as a bit of comedic relief throughout- as he adopts a pet chicken he affectionately names Debbie that he holds very near and dear.

They’re all so unique and interesting just in CANON, let alone seeing them as rounded actual people in a dr. I’m scripting myself still as a teenager as a sort of maintenance/crew member on the Resolute who befriends the Robinson children (Namely Penny) and adventures with them through deep space. It’s honestly fun and lighthearted and i absolutely adore space. Also, Adoptive Father Don West <3 because i love him more than words. Honestly a space exploration dr is kind of the best idea ever personally and I didn’t want to do it alone, so this universe makes perfect sense for me and i’m falling more and more in love with it all the time.

WIP Posted: How Do You Measure a Year in the Life?

Chapter 1: rise up singin'. July-October. The year of 2040-2041.

A year ago from this posting, I put up the first chapter of Kiss My Lipstick on. There was no way I could've imagined it becoming this sprawling universe that I would rejoice in, that would literally change my brain chemistry. It only happened because of you, dear reader. You have given me such joy and kindness over this year and fed my creative furnace.

This story is not the end of Leda Verse. I have prompts left to fill, aus of the aus (to begin and finish) and maybe even some mainverse stories left to write. It is though, the end of the timeline for mainverse. I made a promise that no one in Leda Verse would ever die and I stick firm to that. There is a major medical episode or two in this story, but everyone is alive from start to finish. Where it ends though, is the end of the line. The story after June 2041 is a gentle mist, a sea spray, spreading over the camera lens and obscuring our vision.

Dear reader, if you'll have it, I give you a gentle kiss on the forehead for making it all this way with me. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
