No one asked for this, but I really needed to infodump about him to someone or I was gonna go insane.

The first image is a reference for the finer details of his character such as his hairstyle, his facial details like his nose and eyes, and his major scars.

The second image is more of how I envisioned his body type, but I struggle with consistency and being able to convey some bodies in different angles and intricate poses.

These are just some drawings I've made of his character as I was developing him.

While he is a rather calm individual, being stoic and silent most of the time, he does still get rather angry on the inside. Which is what I was trying to convey in the first image.

He respects his peers and superiors, but when they do legitimately stupid shit, he can and will rock their shit depending on how bad it was.

I've included this in his lore before but I am too nervous to share some of the finer details of his lore and will only be vaguely referencing it, sorry ☹️🫶

I made a janky, very brief timeline of his career above.

Now, I haven't filed through complete details so some things such as his rank and experience in the field may or may not be entirely accurate with the time he was working especially since I made his character on the fly and did little to no research at first. Only now am I actually trying to expand his character and lore and am realizing I did not do nearly enough research. Most of this is just what I thought sounded nice at first.

Specialities: hand to hand, a variety of front line infantry skills, long range, basic first aid

Personality: usually grumpy and quiet. switches between sassy, rude, and teasing(towards close people) and quiet, obedient, and stoic. He's technically a strong and silent type around most people, usually very distrusting and distant. He's very good at following orders unless they're outright stupid, then he'll put up a fight about them.

Backstory: (my attempt at being brief, sorry🙏) given to an (underground) training organization with unconventional training methods at a young age, was tortured and ridiculed for disobeying (his scars on his face and chest🫶), escaped with force when he was 17(nearly 18). Had to travel by himself to the US and rely on strangers to get him there (no money to his name).

Eventually joined the Marines at 20, met Dusk (his Colonel). Blah blah blah, went up the ranks. At 28 he dragged Dusk out of the field half exploded and left the Marines soon after Dusk did. Joined Shadow Company 🫶

Issues: PTSD, nightmares, paranoia, nervous at being touched randomly

Habits: never takes off his mask unless he's REALLY comfortable, sleeps with it on more often than not. Hovers close to people he likes cause he doesn't like to reach out and touch people, settling on subtle hands on shoulders or light brushes of skin. Watches and evaluates anyone and everyone in the same room as him, constantly searching for any red flags or threats.

Scars: One over each eye (resembling clown markings)

One running over his bottom lip and down his chin.

One running from his collar bone to below his navel.

A mix of bullet, knife, and other scars from his field work scattered over his arms and hands.

Preferred method of showing care/affection/love language: acts of service, quality time, ("secretly") physical touch.

Eye Color: left eye pale yellow with brown center, right eye green with yellow center. has heterochromia

Hair description: short and dusty brown with two streaks of early greying. Two long pieces in front of either ear, short in the back.

Clothing description: SC Uniform - beige tactical vest stocked with red and yellow(ish) Chem lights, roll of thin rope, and three mags. Black, long-sleeve zip-neck shirt with the shadow company insignia on the sleeve. Black balaclava, black helmet and goggles with attachable headphones connected to comms. Black tactical cargo pants, black belt with two storage pouches attached at either side of his hips, and a right handed gun holster. Very dark brown/black combat boots.

Not in uniform - form fitting short-sleeve shirts and jeans most of the time. Occasionally switching it up for loose shirts when his compression shirts feel too tight and strangling for a casual day. He wears belts to at least make it seem like he cares about his outfits, even though he doesn't really put effort. Picking up whatever dark colored shirts and jeans he can find and calling it a day most of the time.

Body description: well-built Filipino man with hooded eyes. He has a bit of stubble along his jaw, forgetting to shave often. Freckles are speckled over his face, arms, neck and shoulders, and legs. Body hair over his chest, arms, and legs mainly. Occasionally lets other Shadows paint his nails when they ask (requests black but can't say no if they choose another) so sometimes has painted nails.

Favorite activities: sitting outside with nature, playing guitar, going to the bar with Dusk to spend time and catch up, reteaching Dusk guitar

He's generally like a big dog that doesn't realize it's own size, like a great Dane of sorts. Protective, loyal to a fault with aggressive tendencies towards those he doesn't know/trust. Silent and strong, unless he's with someone close to him

He enjoys his quiet time and regular meets up with an old friend of his, back from his Marine days, the both of them learning electric guitar and playing together sometimes to loosen up.

He's a workaholic all in all, not having many hobbies or activities out side of his work.

He lives at base, having been out on the streets before starting his career in the military.

He earned his scars on his face and chest when he was about 16-17, fleeing his state as soon as he was nearing 18 (lore reasons that I'm too nervous to share with people) and living on the streets with a lengthy theft history until he joined the Marines at 20 years old. Where he met his previously mentioned 'old friend', his Colonel, call sign 'Dusk'.

His shadow company number is 7-28. No I did not do research on the actual numbers, I just chose random ones that sounded nice on my tongue. Plus 28 is like,,, my number, if you couldn't tell by my user.

If anyone understands the number system better and would like to help me out by correcting me, I would appreciate that very much. But for now, it is Shadow 7-28.

His lore and titles were developed before I put him in Shadow Company canonically, so shit like him being a Lieutenant and other things that would require him to have years and years of experience to get would be from his career in the Marines before then. I'm assuming he would have to start fresh since he joined a new company? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believeeee he'd have to start fresh with SC with things like titles.

He does still keep his old mask since Dusk helped him with it, but now he really only wears the shadow company uniform and gear. Swapping his plain black balaclava for his old one with the skull-like details when he's back at base relaxing.

That's him, that's Dawn. Silent leader)

• will deny liking someone, going as far as saying he hates them even if as soon as they leave the room he smiles on the inside because, hey! Someone wants to be close to him! That's new!

• tried drawing once, it looked like a kids drawing. he never picked up a pencil to draw again

• has really nice handwriting?? Wtf???

• He's a lieutenant!!

• spent years training to be a sniper that he's now unnecessarily still and silent while working on smaller tasks that require even the slightest bit of focus such as paperwork.

While I haven't gone deep into lore for him, I do have a few small facts about him that have played a part in Dawn's lore.

• He is 6'3, standing only an inch taller than Dawn.

• he was Dawn's Colonel for most of their career before they joined Shadow Company.

• just before Dawn had left to join SC, Dusk had gotten caught too close to an explosion. Having been dragged back to the base by Dawn himself and after healing, was left with very little sight and hearing on his left side. He struggled to be able to do many tasks that he needed to be able to complete to keep his job afterwards and had to quit.

• he cut off his long hair after the explosion burned off a lot of his hair, being left with very little long hair left on his right side. He felt it looked odd and cut it off so it could regrow at its own pace. Some parts of his scalp on his left side having damaged the actual skin there making it very hard/impossible to regrow it in some patches.

• he started learning guitar before joining the military, having been the one who inspired Dawn to learn and having lent Dawn their first ever guitar.

• was the one who gave Dawn his callsign

• he's Filipino, one of the many traits he and Dawn bonded over

• acts as Dawn's older brother later on in their career together after years of knowing each other. He has two siblings at home while Dawn is an only child

While some parts of his character were based off of him, the name was surprisingly not, it just happened to match up with Dawn while I was making them 🫶

Falsettos

-Angels in America

Angels In America is a play that also takes place in the aids crisis. Like falsettos it features a closted gay man(joe) cheating on his wife (harper)with a man(louis). But that is really only a small sliver of the story.

Otther aspects that are somewhat simmaler to falsettos are somewhat of moraly grey main characters,Relgion, and harper basically losing her mind. It also features the character Roy cohn based off a actually person who is such a giant piece of shit it's like almost ridiculous,but really entertaining to read.

There's to parts and it is kinda a long read but I enjoyed it!

-beyond therapy

Beyond therapy was written in the 80s but had a more modern since of humor. Its definitely comedic opposed to the Angels in America but I feel like it still would be a good read for a falsettos enjoyer.

It features a minpulative therapist (though he's way worse then Mendel),more unstable main characters,and even "unstable-er" Relsonships (exspicly the gay ones)

It's also just a really good read and horribly underated

Hamilton

-Julius caesar

What if burr was the main protagonist of Hamilton and we got to see what happened affter the duel? That's a lot like Julius ceaser. It's also great if you like history in general.

It is obviously Shakespeare but there's translators online and its not that hard to comprehend.

First off puffs is such a great show and even if you don't like this musical you should go see/read it. It's funny and sad,just a really fantastic show that kinda has the vibe of spelling bee.

Generic question but what are Nicoletta's opinions of the Love interests/people of interest?

Bailey: Well ... she's scared of him lol. Even as a child she was very stubborn around him (she didn't appreciate being forced to learn English by him) and Bailey's patience has always been thin for her. She missed a payment ONCE and it kinda traumatized her. He's a bad person who exploits vulnerable people in her eyes, but she pays her dues because she doesn't want to know what else he has in store for her.

Robin: A mix of pity, guilt, and anxiety. They grew up together and him and Julius (friends PC <3) worked the hardest to teach her English, so she really appreciates that. She rescued him because she had high status with the dock workers, but won't take up his debt because she genuinely believes this is God's trial and it will make him stronger. But whenever he comes into her bed covered in bruises she can't help but feel horrible and pray for him.

Sydney: She considers him deeply misguided because he's part of the temple, but doesn't outwardly shame him for his fate, she just refuses to go near the temple. Sydney ironically confessed to her the day after she fell because she finally went to the temple to use the confessional lmao. She said no ofc, but they are still friends, with Sydney having some unresolved feelings.

Kylar: this is complicated because like. Plot reasons LMAO. In Nico's save she is dismissed! She sends her jailbird letters and Nico answers sometimes like "please get help". In "universe" tho Kylar is Julius' boyfriend, so they're in the periphery of eachothers social circles. Kylar is jealous of her since she's close to Julius, Nico doesn't remember who he is half of the time.

Avery: She thought she finally met a nice person in DoL town!!! WRONG. She accepted the first "date" (didn't realize it was a date) gratefully, but when she asked her to strip Nico shut her down and started rejecting her offers. Ended up maxxing her rage before Nico fought her off with pepper spray. Nico hasn't seen her since lol.

Harper: Her trauma was getting pretty high, and she eventually had to go to an appointment. She really appreciates the pills Harper gave her, and because her willpower was so strong she didn't realize the pills were supposed to be making her more susceptible, and just considered them as horny sinful thoughts, so she still kinda trusts her 💀

Eden: Amazingly they have not met! Which is probably a good thing, I think Eden might kill her on accident considering how much of a brat she can be.

Black Wolf: Also has not met them! Thank God.

Great Hawk: She kidnapped her while she was in the moor getting the box for Landry. Let me tell you! Worst TWO MONTHS of her life ( ・∀・) she used up all her clothes to escape, got hypothermia because it was winter, passed out and got kidnapped by her again and was stuck in a hypothermia-passing out loop till a passerby which I can only call a Saint sent by God gave her some jeans and a winter jacket which she still has.

Landry: They meet up VERY frequently because of her primary means of income, and their relationship is pretty good. Landry is impressed by her skills and Nico hopes that one day he will teach her some way to get out of town, or at least ways to earn more.

Mickey: They care about Nico more than they'd like to admit. In the beginning Nico asked a lot of questions, but now she's learned to just appreciate the silence with them.

Alex: They've met a feeeeew times, but Nico doesn't work on the farm that often so they haven't spoken a lot. She doesn't really have a strong opinion of her and vice versa.

Remy: Never met them, actually! Nico's never been sent to a bad end, miraculously.

Charlie: She actually has an S in Dancing!!! She really appreciates the work she put into teaching her and getting her jobs that she... tolerates :)

Darryl: Her beloved boss when bartending that she cares deeply for, will never hesitate to beat up somebody harassing him! She always talks to him to see how he's doing.

Briar: Thinks he's super sketchy and always lies to his goons whenever they stop by to ask how the security is. She is apprehensive around anybody involved with sex work no matter how indirect, especially the person extorting them.

Quinn: Never met them, amen. Would probably think they're a sleazeball tho.

Leighton: freak alert!!! Nico hates her guts! Gut-punching her was one of the most satisfying things she's done in a very, very, VERY long time. Never wastes a moment to get back at her and make her life Hell, it's very petty and she chastised herself a lot for it, but she can't help it, she's probably the person Nico hates the most, except for...

Sam: One time, my friend drew Nico in a "Sam #1 Hater" shirt, and I hope that illustrates just how much she hates that man~

Sirris: kinda weird n eccentric in Nico's eyes but she definitely doesn't dislike her or anything. Thinks maybe he could use a few lessons on modesty tho.

Doren: He seems to have an air of kindness to him, and he's saved her from Whitney a few times, so she appreciates that.

River: Hes kind of a hardass, plus he gives her detention all the time cuz Whit bugs her in class and she has high delinquency so he considers it her fault lol, so she doesn't like him that much.

Winter: she helps out at the museums and helps with the exhibitions (she considers it a form of self punishment) so Winter is actually quite fond of her :) She's more neutral towards him, but he's never really bad with her so...

Mason: Oddly enough she doesn't really like him. He gives her this bad vibe she can't really explain, plus he's no help in class when getting harassed.

Niki: She models, but refuses to strip her underwear, so she really appreciates that he doesn't force her to do anything she's uncomfortable with.

Morgan: Ran into her a few times, guh. She managed to escape but not without developing a life time phobia of rats. Nico still considers her a "lost soul" tho.

Zephyr: Never met them!

Wren: also never met them. Good thing, I fear they would make her so horny she would forget her vow of chastity.

Jordan: Never met, but I'd wager they'd make her uncomfortable.

Gwylan: she distrusts his shop because she thinks it's involved with magic, and distrusts him by extension

Saved the "best"for last, if anybody bothered reading this till the end 😭

Whitney: their "relationship" started by Whit harassing her, him beating her up, Nico working out and buying pepper spray to beat his ass, and then getting his dominance to zero so that he tried to sell her guh. Nico saved him.......despite her better judgement. His reaction to her saving him surprised her, and she started wondering if he wasn't such a bad guy. They ended up talking more during the rainy season at the park. Then one night when she was leaving work exhausted, Whit and his friends ganged up on her and she finally lost her virginity, immediately maxxing out her trauma. The next few weeks she was prone to breakdowns and bursted into tears in front of him all the time. His "helpful" responses and her high trauma left her kinda "trauma bonded" to him in some ways. She's convinced she has to marry him or she will go to hell since they sleep together sometimes. She tries to manipulate him into good behavior by keeping his dominance low, but she can be overly accomodating to his bad behavior if he does smth sweet for once. He got her into smoking, drinking, and stimulants sometimes. I think if they got married fr, she would leave him the next day lol. (Unless he babytraps her)

Funfact: She developed astigmatism and anisocoria in her left eye because Whit beat her face in so bad during the first rape it permanently damaged that eye.

Bokumono/Story of Seasons If They Remade: Animal Parade

I thank one of the HM/SoS/Bokumono blogs for making the remake naming conventions clearer to me.

Basically, when localization was moved to XSeed, any character names that Natsume, the former localization team from when the series was known as "Harvest Moon", Romanized/Anglicized to something other than what was the Japanese version? They are not usable. The most current example is "Muffy" being "Molly" now because the character was "MuuMuu" in Japanese.

It will likely be a few years before the next remake (maybe) and it is unknown which game they will focus on...but woah boy, ANIMAL PARADE.

This will be devastating to those of you used to the English localized names of characters from Animal Parade. Pretty much NONE of the character's names resemble the Japanese version.

If this convention remains true? Here's a list of those that would be impacted (*means they MIGHT be able to swing using the existing name but not likely) :

Jessica Maria Caesar was born right at the beginning of the summer, a week or two overdue. Her dad was a grocer, and her mom was a singer-turned-nursing home assistant. They met at the grocery store, which was apparently inspiration enough for Jess to have a veggie-themed nursery.

“Growing up”, for Jessica, was a bit of a misnomer, since she spent the first 12 years of her life stubbornly short. She was made fun of for that fact, but the gentle teasing turned darker when her social awkwardness and love for lord of the rings made her genuinely unpopular. She found herself outcasted for most of her young life, and she poured any loneliness into long, fantasy epics. Jess read, and read, and read some more: people who did try to talk to her would often be treated to long descriptions of whatever series she was four books deep into. 

Junior high brought the first big changes for Jess, who had a growth spurt and a first boyfriend at the same time. Both taught her that not only could she be pretty (her middle school boyfriend made a point of reminding her every morning), but also a little mean. She made fun of the people who were cold to her, first behind their backs, and then to their faces. The relationship petered out, but the lessons stayed with her.

As she entered high school, she loved three things dearly: fantasy, football, and fantasy football. She developed a space on the internet fairly early, writing fanfictions and beating her dad in fantasy football drafts. In her sophomore year, she made a big splash by trying out for the football team, even if it was all boys. She knew that she had a killer kick, and the football team wasn’t even that competitive. The coach dismissed her outright, and she organized a protest. The protest didn’t exactly take over the school, but she made a name for herself.

Even if she was ultimately unsuccessful in her mission to be the first girl on the team, she decided to capitalize on whatever popularity her project won her by running for student council. She befriended Julius, and ran on the Julius/Caesar ticket. The wordplay was strong, but not strong enough to get them the win. What she got, however, was a bit more precious, since it earned her a connection with Julius.

For a stint, she dated Nico Manning, who was not only ridiculously cute, but also super sweet. The cracks showed in their relationship when school became an issue. It was her everything, and his… not much. They ended things when college application times came around, and it set in that he wasn’t all that interested in the future that she wanted.

As high school came to an end, she was dead set on Harvard as her next step. When she didn’t get into Harvard, she cried her eyes out. And Julius, much to her surprise, was there with open arms and a shoulder to cry on, even though she thought that they’d never stay friends. The next time she needed a friend, when her mom and dad told her they were getting a divorce, he was there for her again. Strangely enough, he just… stayed in her life. She never expected it, but after a few years of keeping in touch, he kind of became her best friend.

It wasn’t Harvard, but Huntsville had a college with a creative writing major, and Jessica put her whole heart into that. She wanted to embark on a fantasy epic series like the ones that raised her, and she split her focus in two ways. Half went to her creative writing portfolio, and the other half went to the epic college romance she always wanted. She found a great guy to do it with, and they were together for a couple months, until she walked in on him cheating on her. With his boss. It was bad. 

Jess swore off men after that. She figured that after dating a literal model in high school, she might have peaked a bit too soon. That didn’t keep her from occasionally striking up romances, but each was more ill-fated than the last. She chalked it up to bad taste in men, and hoped that her luck would improve.

When Jess graduated college, she jumped headfirst into a market that didn’t really want what she was selling. She tried desperately to publish her high fantasy, even though her agent said that the only marketable part of her work was the romantic subplot. Said agent, who Jess was kinda-sorta-friends with, asked Jess to write a romance novel. It took a year or two, but Jess caved, and delivered exactly what her agent wanted. Much to Jess’ chagrin, it was a success, and everyone wanted more romance novels. 

After pitfalls both in her love life and her career, Jess has decided that she’s going to stick to herself, and her little circles. How successful this will be remains to be seen.
