I think the change I’d want most of all is Rhaenys living, in whatever way that would be. Her death is representative of so much wrong with the series, and I think it was enormously, enormously wasteful. There are infinite ways to take the story with a living Rhaenys, and all of them are so deeply fascinating, not only for her, but for what her survival would mean to other characters.

Was she raised as a hostage? How does that impact the Martells and their goals? Does her survival mean that Doran confides in Arianne earlier? What about her living Targaryen relatives - does knowing that his niece survived impact Viserys in any way and help give him something specific to focus on? How would knowing that her family supported the reign of a king who was responsible for a girl being raised as a hostage away from her living family after the other half her family was brutally murdered impact Sansa Stark while she is a hostage? Was she smuggled out of the Red Keep, like Aegon? Who raised her and where? Was she raised with Aegon by JonCon or elsewhere with someone else? If the latter, does she know about Aegon? What does the person raising her want? What are her goals and desires? How does she feel about all the people in Westeros that supported Robert and what does she remember? How would Jaime Lannister react to meeting the girl he was once sworn to protect that’s indubitably who she claims to be because she looks just like her mother? Does she have magic? What kind? Is her inheritance the water magic of her maternal family or the destructive legacy of her Targaryen heritage? What does she do with this power? What matters most to her?

As a memory, Rhaenys is a tragedy, a cautionary tale, a sad little girl with a kitten pulled out from under her father’s bed. She’s a reminder of the human cost of war, a desperate scream for people to remember - the Baratheon dynasty is built on corpses; this little girl was a sacrifice so that Jon Snow could exist. In life, she could be everything. The last Targaryen that does not look like a Targaryen, sneered at by her silver haired grandfather, hunted by the Baratheons that followed, would be a reminder of the failures and corruption of both the Targaryens and the Baratheons. And it would be up to her to decide where to go next.

Have you read the girl who was plugged in by James tiptree? Its a sci fi book about a girl named P.Burke who lives in a world with no ads but companies that try to advertise their products anyway. It was written in 1973, but it says a lot about influencer and beauty. I feel like you'd like it and it's a short story, it's only 30 pages long. Have a nice day :)

Thank you so much! And of course! I use a mixture of alcohol-based felt-tip markers, gel pens, and various colored pencils.

I didn’t bring all of the stampin-up markers I have at home to college since they’re technically my mother’s, but yeah this stuff plus some micro-lines are pretty much my art supplies! (Oh I also bought a package of Tombow Art Pro Alcohol-based markers. I don’t like them as much as my stampin up markers, but I think they were cheaper.) (The Cezanne pencils are a new acquisition as well, but I really like them so far! Bright color, good texture, and much much cheaper than prismacolor!) I have no idea what brand the skin-tone pack is, but while I’m not the biggest fan of the color palette, I really like how their textures come out too. Good for blending!

so much. the sexual violence would get toned down a lot. 

so would the racism which means dany’s arc would be unrecognisable in many ways. 

the summer islanders won’t encourage young girls to trade sex. 

i’d restructure the chapter which means tyrion and arya will lose at least 5 chapters. no arys chapter, no asha chapter either. cersei’s affc chapters would be down to 10

i’d spare quentyn, he isn’t a traditional hero so a subversion doesn’t make any sense

☕ Arthurian Legends

maybe cus theyre my special interest and i am so fucking crazy about them im making my entire ap art concentration MY relationship to them and how i use them to understand things in my own life and constantly write essays on them for fun but i think they are exceptionally neat. 

medieval literature in general is just such an interesting way to look back in time at how things used to be and i think thats so fun! i like history but am really bad at actually going out and learning it so its super fun to get aspects of the culture through text. like reading beowulf its sooo fun. its inspired me to like.. actually try and learn new languages! (sure old english is just english but old but it feels good learning it and boy did i need that touch up on my french) 

theyre just fun and funky stories with genuinely interesting themes to explore and i like them :-)

Hey! Recently I've wanted to get into the fantastic four comics but I'm not sure where to start, do you have any comic recommendation for the fantastic four? Have a good day!

Ooo, awesome choice! I’m sure you’ll love them. I’ve made a recommendations list for the FF before on my personal blog -- you can find the post here. Mostly, I’d recommend starting with Waid’s run on the FF (it starts at Fantastic Four Vol 3 (sometimes listed as 1998) #60)-- it’s geared toward new readers and also just very good! It’s one of my favorite contemporary FF runs, second only to Hickman’s (which is a bit too continuity-heavy to start with, I think). There are also resources/rec lists linked in the sidebar to this blog if you’re using a laptop.

I could also add that we’re getting an Invisible Woman miniseries from Waid in a few months, and we’re getting a new Future Foundation title from Whitley (who currently writes Unstoppable Wasp).

Would anyone be interested in comic recommendations for specific characters/ships? I’ve been thinking of doing one for my favorite Sue issues.

So I remembered watching this documentary on the eruption of Santorini and the whole myth of Atlantis, and it deals with excavating and investigating Minoan and Mycenaean settlements and I mean, when I was like 10 it felt like a big fevered dream but NOPE it's real! Hello! I was wondering if you tell me what's wrong with arcana? From what I've seen it's just a generic mobile game? You don't have to answer if you don't want to of course, and I hope you have a good day!

Well my biggest issue with it is probably uuh how it’s monetized? It’s insanely expensive just to get all the locked scenes in one route. The devs have been complete and total assholes about it when people complained, as well.

The rest of my opinions on it is based on what the game was when I played it, and it’s been what, years? I haven’t checked up on anything and stayed away from the fandom because big yikes.

The game itself is like ... uncomfortably horny? I get that it’s a romance game but the devs seem to take all those typical tumblr thirst posts and make them canon even though it’s really fucking jarring in the story? Plus it’s not exactly stated to be 18+, or at least wasn’t when I first played it, so all the extremely sensual art was kind of off-putting. It felt like fanservice in a really cheap way?

Nadia is heavily fetishized because everyone in the fandom kept asking her to “step on them” and the devs leaned into that and, ya know, she’s a WoC, so that kind of characterization of a domineering yet “““exotic”““ brown woman is uuuh ... mmmbad? She even apparently says shit about wanting to keep the MC as a pet and I seem to recall there being an option for her to literally step on them?

Then we have Asra who’s supposedly nonbinary but we don’t really know that unless you check sources outside of the game, which isn’t really representation? Like, at all? Most other nonbinary characters have been grotesque villains or incidental characters.

And finally there’s Julian? The white guy who everyone stans cuz he’s a white guy and he’s into BDSM. Somehow the weird fetishy/sexualized shit is toned down for this woobiefied white dude. The devs admitted he’s based on Jeff Goldblum but, you guessed it, inexplicably white! He’s (Julian) supposed to be vaguely Jewish but it’s kind of for flavor only and the devs don’t seem keen on confirming it.

Julian and Asra also have a super fetishized relationship like the devs are very clearly into some fujoshi bullshit.

Then there’s Muriel. I never played long enough for his route to appear but he’s a MoC who’s constantly in chains becuase he was a slave at some point? And yeah those chains never seem to come off even when he’s freed because the devs are too lazy to update the sprite? Idk at this point I’m willing to believe it turns them on or something.

Also the writing itself is just bad lmao. So is the game design, locking all actual romance scenes behind massive paywalls and then telling people they don’t “have to” buy them, that those scenes aren’t “essential” and people who can’t afford the game but still want to see the ROMANCE scenes in a ROMANCE game are entitled whiny bitches and those poor poor devs are starving so you HAVE TO pay!!!

I have some issues with this post and the blog in general but it’s got some good points abt the game and its devs if you’re interested in knowing more.

On a personal note: I was really excited for Lucio’s route back in the day because I’m a basic bitch but they really wanged that one too, from what I hear. Why can’t anybody write a good villainmance? I swom to Jon.

I THOUGHT IT WAS SO BAD . like from a movie standpoint it was just boring. 2 hours is too long for anything like that and then from an arthurian standpoint it just made me cry. the only coherent thought i have on it right now is why did they give Tristan, known hawk hater, a hawk. other than that mads mikkelsen was the only good actor and i only really watched it for him
